Resolved Question: why do innocent children suffer if there are guardian angels?
Why do innocent children die and suffer ? where was their guardian angel? where was God? I once felt lucky that i was being protected, and my kids were being protected when i asked god to protect them or to show me a sign i was being listened to (i got many unmistakable signs!) infact many amazing things have happened to me [ i will share 2 ] 1: I was 17 and i was at a house party i knew the owner of the house & i was with a friend she wanted to stay, i wanted to go home but she drove. 2 men at the party asked if i needed a ride so i figured they were safe if they knew the owner of the house ( im 17) so i took the ride. well back in then the cars had one long front seat so three could sit in front. the men arranged it so i would sit in the middle. on the way home they veered off the road into a huge state park it was pitch black it looked like the pine trees went on forever,i was scared but stayed calm then the car stopped deep in the forest and the men were silent, they turned on the car light and pulled out a 6 pack of beer. I said no thanks i dont like beer and they began to drink. i was plotting how i would get out of the car in a calm way. i looked up while they were drinking and said please God help me. just at that very moment we saw in the blackness 2 headlights come driving through the woods, it was a state police car!! he pulled up next to the car and had the passenger unroll his window shined the flashlight in and said "do you know these men?" i screamed no! and he said get out of the car. later at the station he said "you know i never come through this way but something told me to take a look"! i am sure that was more than a coinsidence. #2 my dad died at age 73 we sat by his bedside we decide to put take him off the respirator etc. (it was his wish) it was 8 pm on the 12th floor of the hospital me and my 2 sisters sat at his bedside in silence watching the oxygen go down on the monitor. i turned away and was looking out the window for 1 minute all the time having my hand on top of my dads head suddenly i felt a presence a movement in the still of the room that made me jerk my head around to see- it was 11:20 pm now and it was at that minute that i turned my head to see that my father died and what i saw when i turned my head was a vision similar to that of gas rising off the road on a hot summer day in the distance it looked like a clear haze it was gone in less than 2seconds.. no one else saw it. i believe that i saw my father leaving or the angel who comes to take those to the other side. many other amazing things have occured too. i have always since 14 years old been searching for the truth i have tried many religions and i thought i finally figured it out after years and much effort! then recently i found in my book shelf an old magazine i had,in it there was an article on holocaust, and a question was asked quite bluntly .."why did God let little children roast to death screaming in ovens ?" Traumatized ,i cried all night-my entire faith in god/angels my rock of support - shattered! i dont think anyone has the answer for this. why would god answer some prayers and not the prayers of those poor poor parents who lost their kids!! why would i be special and not innocent children and terrified parents!!! i must be lucky thats all. and i thought i was actually getting signs-- maybe just coinsidences?! i thought everything happened for a reason. and all the bad that has happened to me i thought it was a "learning experience meant to bring me closer to god and the truth has been what? In 46 years i havent lost my faith no matter what until this article.any one have an anwer? and yes i did look at rabbi kushners book didnt help convince me. sincerely, shattered faith ~ 21 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer. This writer seems to think so. What do you think? http://www.touchstonemag.com/archives/article.php?id=22-01-019-f Interesting quote: "Yet patently false accusations of both child abuse and domestic violence are rampant in divorce courts, almost always for purposes of breaking up families, securing child custody, and eliminating fathers. “With child abuse and spouse abuse you don’t have to prove anything,” the leader of a legal seminar tells divorcing mothers, according to the Chicago Tribune. “You just have to accuse.” Among scholars and legal practitioners it is common knowledge that patently trumped-up accusations are routinely used, and virtually never punished, in divorce and custody proceedings. Elaine Epstein, president of the Massachusetts Women’s Bar Association, writes that “allegations of abuse are now used for tactical advantage” in custody cases. The Illinois Bar Journal describes how abuse accusations readily “become part of the gamesmanship of divorce.” The UMKC Law Review reports on a survey of judges and attorneys revealing that disregard for due process and allegations of domestic violence are used as a “litigation strategy.” In the Yale Law Review, Jeannie Suk calls domestic violence accusations a system of “state-imposed de facto divorce” and documents how courts use unsupported accusations to justify evicting Americans from their homes and children. The multi-billion dollar abuse industry has become “an area of law mired in intellectual dishonesty and injustice” writes David Heleniak in the Rutgers Law Review. Domestic violence has become “a backwater of tautological pseudo-theory,” write Donald Dutton and Kenneth Corvo in the scholarly journal Aggression and Violent Behavior. “No other area of established social welfare, criminal justice, public health, or behavioral intervention has such weak evidence in support of mandated practice.” Feminists confess as much in their vociferous opposition to divorce reform. A special issue of the feminist magazine Mother Jones in 2005 ostensibly devoted to domestic violence focuses largely on securing child custody. Both child abuse and domestic violence have no precise definitions. Legally they are not adjudicated as violent assault, and accused parents do not enjoy the constitutional protections of criminal defendants. Allegations are “confirmed” not by jury trials but by judges or social workers. Domestic violence is any conflict within an “intimate relationship” and need not be actually violent or even physical. Official definitions include “extreme jealousy and possessiveness,” “name calling and constant criticizing,” and “ignoring, dismissing, or ridiculing the victim’s needs.” For such “crimes” fathers lose their children and can be jailed. “Protective orders” separating parents from their children are readily issued during divorce proceedings, usually without any evidence of wrongdoing. “Restraining orders and orders to vacate are granted to virtually all who apply,” and “the facts have become irrelevant,” writes Epstein. “In virtually all cases, no notice, meaningful hearing, or impartial weighing of evidence is to be had.”Rebecca, Thanks for your balanced, principled answer. moreResolved Question: where can i find this picture or photographer?
ok so i'm looking for this picture which was on the front of the Times magazine like a year ago of children on showing different emotions and stuff. I think it was taken by a woman….and the article in the TImes was about whether it was ethical to make these kids cry on purpose. b/c the little kids were given a toy or candy or something and then it was taken away and that’s when the photos were taken, at that moment at which they felt pain in that object beign taken away from them. And whether it could be classified as abuse or not. Like is it legit to cause pain/sadness on purpose so yeah does any one know who the photographer was or where i can find the picture????yeeah i'm taking about the magazine that comes with the sunday times sorry for the confusion moreResolved Question: Why do some people think spanking kids makes them violent?
I saw an article on discipline in Parenting magazine this weekend and it said that parents who spank their kids are teaching them that hitting is ok. I was flabbergasted. I completely disagree with that statement. Spanking is not "hitting". And when a parents spanks appropriately, they don't do it when they're angry, they explain to their child(ren) why they're being spanked, and then they tell them they love them. I was spanked growing up and I can honestly say I have never hit another person and I don't think it's ok to "hit". My parents were spanked. Their parents were spanked, etc. My husband, his parents, grandparents, etc. were spanked. And we've all grown up to be "good" people. We went to college, have jobs, have great relationships with each other and other people and none of us "hit people" when we're mad (or for any reason). In my opinion, that article was wrong. Parents who spank should explain the difference between spanking and hitting to their kids. When my parents explained it to me at 5 or 6, I understood. So how can some magazine writer make stuff like that up like she has such authority on the issue. What are your views on this? Please note: I am not asking whether you think spanking is ethical or not. I'm asking for personal experiences. If you were spanked (not abused, but spanked), do you as an adult think it's ok to hit people? Did you ever? Etc. Thanks =)Oh, I don't mean spanking for every little thing. I got a quick pop on the mouth for mouthing off to my parents (excessively), got grounded, etc. Spanking was more for when we (my bro and I) did something really bad.... moreResolved Question: Have children become a sort of American sacred cow?
I think Generation Z (current kids under about 14) are the most spoiled generation ever. I worry about them growing up and facing the cold reality that people have no sympathy for adults. Americans have been getting meaner and meaner, but also more and more kid-focused. If you read any recent edition of People, the magazine is diaper ads, pregnant celebrities and articles about their kids front to back! Americans are very close to executing people who abuse children as well as murderers, but most of us would still oppose executing those who abuse their wives (I'm against the death penalty). I don't think this obsession with kids is healthy, it's disturbing. We might love them now, but when Gen Zers are grown up, will we put them on the backburner and just love the new crop of cuties? moreResolved Question: Since this is bash fathers month, do you think Father's Day should be abolished all together?
On the news there's several reports of what each city is doing to arrest fathers behind on their child support. Doing it now reduces the number of calls to police about the usual number of fathers denied court ordered access to their children. If you're in jail you can't complain. Over 60% of fathers are denied access despite court orders, according to the U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services study "Survey of Absentee Parents". Notice they never report on the arrest of mothers for violating court orders just before Mother's Day. Time Magazine has an article in this week's issue, showing that fathers don't deserve a special day, as they generally don't care to be around their children. A few years back, a state attorney general commented that she believed fathers only went after custody because they either are sexuaally abusing the children, or physically abusing their mother. In Fresno, Ca A father was arrested for not paying child support to welfare for what the mother collected on the children. He owes $35,000. The problem is she never had custody, he does. But, sahe has no income to go after, so he's was ordered to pay. In Kansas, a joudge refused to issue an arrest warrant on a man who has refused to pay a Nebraska order. He is one of four men ordered to pay on the same child because the mother refuses to allow a blood test, as it is a violation of her privacy. moreResolved Question: Comments on this quote re: Judeo-Christian values?
"The time has also come to recognize the painful truth that traditional Judeo-Christian moral values of pain and pleasure in human relationships have contributed substantially to child abuse and to the prevalence of physical violence in Western civilization.... The religious system upon which our culture is based holds that pain, suffering and deprivation are moral and necessary to save one's soul and make one a 'good person.' The crucifixion and scourging of Christ are examples." -- Dr. James W Prescott, former president of the Maryland Psychological Association, discussing awareness about rising rates of child abuse, in an October, 1977, magazine article, quoted from Conrad Goeringer, AANEWS 739, April 11, 2000, issued by American Atheists moreResolved Question: I did this paper and looked over it can somoene check it again for me?
The period from the 1870’s to the 1890’s is often referred to as the gilded age rich vulgar, and corrupt this was the era of America’s natural adolescence. The U.S made its 1st forays into international affairs and empire building however, the excesses of this time gave rise to a popular movement for reform progressivism. The progressives were a varied group from many social economic and political backgrounds. Yet despite the differences they were able to unite around several common themes not the least of which were rights for women, growth pf progressivism, and social; welfare. Women's struggle for suffrage took many years. Women were not allowed to vote in the United States until the required number of states ratified the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in 1920. But women had sought the right to vote for much of the 1800's. Pioneers such as Susan B. Anthony continued the push for women's voting rights through the end the century, and women such as Martha Carey Thomas continued the struggle into the 1900's. One of the first public appeals for woman suffrage came in 1848. Two reformers, Lucretia Mott and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, called a women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, N.Y., where Stanton lived. The men and women at the convention adopted a Declaration of Sentiments that called for women to have equal rights in education, property, voting, and other matters. The declaration, which used the Declaration of Independence as a model, said, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men and women are created equal. Equally significant to progressive-era reform were the crusading journalists, known as muckrakers. These journalists revealed to middle class readers the evils of economic privilege, political corruption, and social injustice. Their articles appeared in McClure’s Magazine and other reform periodicals. Some muckrakers focused on corporate abuses. Ida Tarbell, for instance, exposed the activities of the Standard Oil Company. In The Shame of the Cities ,Lincoln Steffens dissected corruption in city government. In Following the Color Line ,Ray Stannard Baker criticized race relations. Other muckrakers assailed the Senate, railroad practices, insurance companies, and fraud in patent medicine. Novelists, too, revealed corporate injustices. Theodore Dreiser drew harsh portraits of a type of ruthless businessman in The Financier and The Titan. In The Jungle Socialist Upton Sinclair repelled readers with descriptions of Chicago’s meatpacking plants, and his work led to support for remedial legislation. Leading intellectuals also shaped the progressive mentality. In The Theory of the Leisure Class, Thorstein Veblen attacked the “conspicuous consumption” of the wealthy. Educator John Dewey emphasized a child-centered philosophy of pedagogy, known as progressive education, which affected schoolrooms for three generations. Social Welfare in the late 19th Century was altering during the years and these are significant procedures that took place during the years .The Salvation Army is founded in the United States after William Booth established it in London in 1878.Clara Barton organizes the American Asso¬ciation of the Red Cross, which is renamed the American National Red Cross in 1893 and the American Red Cross in 1978.Booker T Washington founds the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute, a leading black educational institution that emphasizes industrial training as a means to self-respect and economic independence for African Americans. The Federal Civil Service Commission is established. Germany under Bismarck, inaugurates accident, sickness, and old age insurance for work¬ers, influencing future U.S. worker demands for social welfare measures. The first special class for "mentally defi¬cient" people in an American public school is established in Providence, Rhode Island volunteers of America are founded. The first state hospital for crippled chil¬dren is founded in Minnesota. The first social work training school is established as an annual summer course for agency workers by the New York Charity Organiza¬tion Society, which in 1904 becomes the New York School of Philanthropy (and later the Columbia University School of Social Work .The National Federation of Day Nurseries is organized. The first US juvenile court is established in June as part of the Circuit Court of Chicago. All of these aspects effected the maturation of the United States. If anyone of the instances had not occurred the United States would be an altered and chaotic place. More than likely would resemble that of a third world country such as Iraq in which the government has its hands in everything. Which would probably have changed the world as we know it? Imagine women in the United States had to wear cloth over there face which could have been possible if suffrage had not taken place. Children my age working 20 hour jobs because there was no Child labor laws created. Finally think of working people dying of meat poising and families living in houses built for 1 person and bosses not caring about employees. This would have been reality if there was no Gilded Age or rise of Progressivism. moreTop Magazine Articles On Child Abuse Links
