Resolved Question: are the adoption subsidies in wv per child or total?
we are awaiting a completed homestudy, i wonder if anyone knows, where to find a breakdown on the web about adoption subsidy for special needs children. i can find easily that for wv the subsidy for special needs maxes out at $600 per month, but is that per child? we plan to seek out a sibling group, is the subsidy per child or is that a max total on adopted children in the home? this question seems obvious, but wv has some really weird frinkly laws sometimes.any ideawhere i can find the state by state breakdown? moreResolved Question: Am I wrong to think about Adoption?
First let me say I appreciate your opinions and I do need them. The reason I tell you so much personal stuff is because I care that I make the right choice. I have no money. Only about 5k$ in the bank and my car is worth $5k which I have been trying to sell for over 6 months. I live with my aunt since I have developed Anxiety disorder in 06' and have been on disability for only about a year...a bit less. I was with someone for 6 years and unfortunately he never proposed to me and we never lived together except the first year when I lived with him and his mother... He has less money than me in the bank and a vehicle worth about 2k$ which he is not planning on selling. He really doesn't make anything from his job not enough to get his own place or he just chooses not to and lives with his dad. Besides this since I have found out I am pregnant he still hasn't asked me to move in with him somewhere or move forward nor is he going to help me financially with the baby so he is not in my life any longer. I am so sad because I am happy about the baby coming but financially I am depressed beyond belief. I know I can support my child with everything but financially I am crushed into this harsh realization. I am awaiting a cna class I can fit into next course and am looking forward to getting off disability because it has always been a temporary solution of course in which I am grateful to my country. I was wondering if adoption would be the wrong thing to do. I love my child so so so much and I want to keep him/her but in reality can I? I found a wonderful family with a huge house I mean HUGE like a 300k home! The married couple has been together 13 years and has money to have traveled around the world to great places. Your opinion means a lot to me I just don't know what I should do. Thank You so much. moreResolved Question: is there any way to pout a stop to this?

I have no idea how I would...maybe kinda tell my mom that I missed? Haha, extremely bored and wondering what you'd do. It'd be scary o.o Oh, and would you keep the baby? Adoption? (God, please no) abortion? I'd keep it. I think of it this way. First off, abortion is like, getting rid of a life that could have been. That that little guy in there could have changed the world somehow. That you're refusing a gift from God. Even though you are thirteen/fourteen/fifteen. And with adoption, I'd be scared to know how those other people are raising my own child. Even though, it -might- be best ... but still, there are possibilities, and that could be the case. (That they're not raising him/her up well...) How would you tell your parents? Abortion? Adoption? Keep him/her? And what would you name him/her? Haha, awaiting your replies xDOH! Also, how would you tell your boyfriend...that would, too, be scary...do you think he'd be mad/happy/scared/or would he just LEAVE? That would suck... moreResolved Question: Has anyone read this yahoo news report thing?
look, read it its about a movie called orphan. Adoption groups have called for a boycott on new horror movie 'Orphan'. The film tells the story of a couple who decide to adopt after coming to terms with the loss of their unborn baby. However, it turns out the new member of their family is less friendly than she first looks. Several national and foster care groups have asked for a meeting with studio bosses about the movie, over fears that it will put off prospective foster parents from adopting. In an open letter to the studio CEO Barry Meyer, the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute, wrote, "We are concerned that in addition to its intended entertainment value, this film will have the unintended effect of skewing public opinion against children awaiting families both in United States and abroad." The studio, who no doubt welcome the publicity for their small horror movie, said, "It's not a depiction of any real-life events or situations and had never been portrayed as anything but an entirely fictional story." It's not the first time a movie has been the centre of a protest. If you want to get your watch group some free publicity, nothing is easier than picketing a film on its release. However, surely a typical run-of-the-mill Hollywood thriller isn't worthy of this sort of controversy? Adoption group Bastard Nation agrees, saying, "The 'outrage' is an opportunistic moment for drum banging and fund raising. "The moral panic 'Orphan' has induced is more entertaining than the film itself, which will pass into oblivion and DVD a month after release." Do you agree with the boycott or is it a big fuss about nothing? Omg :O Adoption group Bastard Nation agrees, saying, "The 'outrage' is an opportunistic moment for drum banging and fund raising. bastard nation:O!is this bastard nation for real? :Onobody else finds that weird? :S is it just me? moreResolved Question: Madonna - with 100,000 children awaiting adoption in the US, why did Madonna choose to adopt from Africa?

Hello Chae, my lil baby is still available am i am very glad in your interest... Charmcy BabyLoading...11:20 PM (17 hours ago) Charmcy Baby to me show details 11:20 PM (17 hours ago) Reply Hello Chae, my lil baby is still available am i am very glad in your interest on my puppies and i have just one male left, he is called Lincoln and he is 16 weeks old.He is potty trained and Vet checked and will make a very good house hold pet.He has gone through a month of socialization classes before leaving the facility. These classes consist of name acknowledgment, puppy pad and doggies litter box training, leash training, etc, more over he is on a NuVet Plus Vitamins which helps build healthy immune systems. So i am giving him out for adoption only to a good and loving home.He weighs 1.7pounds and as full grown will weigh 4.2pounds.current he is on all his vaccine and shots.Lincoln is a very sensitive puppy and portray the following:- he eats 2 to 3 times Daily and have adapted to that. he take to order like when you asks him to lie down. HE IS Micro Chipped-Hand Fed,DNA tested and USDA Standard. HE had made a 15 days stay in Quarantine so he will come directly to your homes after delivery. he is AKC and is potty trained.-he is not duded and i hope you will take care of nuding him so that he becomes very more adapted to you, and he like Kisses-he will come in a Ventilated crate and Blankets for Cold. As earlier said he is AKC registered and little did i know that i had to obtain an AKC stamp from an AKC registrar before traveling internationally with the puppy since we had to pay a visit to my husband who is working with the World Health Organization (WHO). They are currently working on a 3 year health program for the fight against Mother to child transmission of HIV and AIDS.They are currently working in Cameroon found in Central Islands of Africa, and in less than 6 weeks from now, they shall be traveling to another African country (Ivory Coast) to continue their health activities. So due to the lack of that stamp which i did not procure from AKC registrar we have thus been held hostage at the DOUALA International Airport in our attempt to spend our holiday with my husband in Cameroon by the custom officials because of the lack of the stamp from the Kennel registrar. I have been told that the puppy cant enter Cameroon unless i present the AKC stamp from the American Kennel Club Registrar. It thus mean that if i have to do all this,i will have to go back to the USA and that will mean a lot of money. So i have been given 2 options either to repatriate the puppy back to USA,OR he will be quarantined here in Cameroon.it sounds so disturbing hearing that our much cherished baby await to be quarantined.. I have thus advertised him so that anybody who will be able to pay the repatriation cost should pay and own this my lil angel.if you are ready for that,i will thus need to know your detailed address, phone number and the nearest international airport to you.below are some pictures of my lil angel I await your reply soon. LINCOLNI didn't send them mony yet and won't but if it is a scam can uguys give me a website for puppies for adoption in colorado??pleaseeeeee i really want a dog~~~~~~~~~~~~~ moreResolved Question: what are the first steps needed to terminate a fathers parental rights in Mass?
My ex is the stereotypical deadbeat, non payment of support, no interest in spending time with child ect. He has not seen his son since November. Before that he had not seen him since maybe February. My son is almost 5. My husband has repeatedly in the last 2 years expressed interest in adopting my son, however up until now my ex had resisted each time promising to try harder with his child. Last week my ex contacted us saying that money was just too tight for him right now, and the child support kept accruing and adding to his debt. He wants to sign over his rights and have my husband adopt his son. He says he will agree to the adoption if we waive his past child support debt, which at this point (he has never paid a dime) is in excess of 50K. He also had added that when he is back on his feet financially he would like to take my son for a weekend. Personally, I don't see the visit ever happening, the only time he has ever shown any interest was when he was dating a gal who herself had kids and he wanted to impress her with his wonderful fatherly love (BS). My question is, in Mass, what steps are needed to push this through? And will any court allow the second condition of him being allowed to take him for a weekend later on in life? My issue with that is that my son does not know this man, he was not even born yet when we separated and my ex has never really taken the time to spend with him. Also, isn't he then simply asking the court to end his support obligation, yet continue with his rights? Would they do that? I have never been one to subscribe to the notion that if a parent does not pay support they should not get visits. My ex is a deadbeat on all levels, he has never wanted to spend time with his child unless it will make him look good. My husband loves my son and treats him as his own, always has. He would like my son to have his last name, and to end the anxiety that this lingering connection to my ex causes. Any advice? I have a call in to a local lawyer, awaiting a call back. I am wondering if anyone else has been through this and what the outcome was. moreResolved Question: Question about adopting children?

Thats why Africa is such a mess...because of the people who live there...not because of the British Empire as you were told in school...(like)Crow,may tell you why it annoys me I like children of any race and to see children starve is a terrible thing To see one or two crazy rich superstars ply their power over in the 3rd world just to get what they want is pretty sickKittysue,Soundy & Molly, thanks for your answers. I may sound like someone bigoted and hateful but actually I like kids and seeing them all starve out there in Africa hurts me too I just see that the African governments could stop all this themselves and so are the area we should address. We should not be sending money as it always lands in the hands of crooks. The only way to help children in Africa is to go there yourself and take food and clothes. That then is direct help that does get to the sourse. moreVoting Question: Immigration Laws in Texas?
Ok, here is my situation. I have an employee that is a immigrant from Venezuela, he was bought there as a child and brought into the US by his new parents, this was 35 years ago. 11 years ago he was convicted of "child endangerment" and sent to prison for 50 years. Later that sentience was overturned when the child in question came to court and said she made up the whole thing and he was released. He started working for us about 2 months ago and I decided to send him to training courses in another state. When he tried to go get a copy of his driver license he was told that he was not a citizen of the US. This is odd because during his trail 12 years ago they said they COULD NOT deport him because he was a US citizen. Now he's in custody at a jail awaiting deportation just because he tried to get a copy of his driver license. He has a Soical Secerty number as well as a drivers licence from the state of Texas. We've given the court plenty of information including death certifites of his parents, adoption papers from Venezuela, and even court records from his prevoius trial; still they are saying they have to deport him. Is there something I can do here? I've spent so much money on a damn lawyer already and he isn't doing anything but showing the judge the information we gave him. He came to the US before Sept. 11 so shouldn't the new immigration laws not apply to him? I'm at a loss of what to do here, he just got his life back on track and now the government wants to send him to a exsint tribe in the middle of Venezulan jungles, he doesn't even know the laungage of the area. My fiance and I learned last night via a home pregnancy test that she is pregnant. We are both excited and terrified. We weren't trying to conceive... Emotionally, I believe we are where we need to be to have a child. We love each other very, very much, and we have been very intune with one another emotionally since we learned this. If our finances weren't an issue, we wouldn't have any reservations about going forward, etc... but our finances are seriously strained and we cant think of anyway to raise the child without one of us staying home. We don't have anyone available who could help watch the child while we are at work, and my or her income alone can't handle the burden of both of our bills.( if only one of us works) Daycare is out of the question as it is prohibitively expensive, and we don't trust low-income programs or the people involved with them... In terms of where we are in our lives, I am 28 and she is 25. I have my BA, and am awaiting an admission decision from some local law schools I have applied to. I work full time and make about 30k a year. She is working on her BA part time while working full time, making about 21k a year. She has about 8k in debt plus 15k in student loan debt. I have about 23k in debt and about 70k in student loan debt. We have one car that we owe about 17k on. We are current and have never missed a payment- I have perfect credit well into the 700's and hers is only a little worse. Our housing situation is very good- we live rent free in a home her parents own, we only need to pay the utilities and taxes. Our main concern is that if one of us has to pay 100% of the bills so the other can take care of a child, it will become overwhelming and we will crash and burn financially.... Cliffs- - Deeply in love and want to go ahead and have this child. - Great housing situation ideal for having a child - Seriously overextended and deep in debt, worried that a child may be the straw that breaks the camels back - Planning on further education (both of us) - Unable to think of a viable way to care for the child that doesn't involve one of us not working. oh, one last thing- KEEP YOUR VIEWS ON MORALITY,RELIGION, AND ROE V. WADE TO YOURSELF. we aren't seeking an idelogical answer, but rather a pragmatic one. We can't consider adoption either because it would be nearly impossible to give the child up after its born... With all of these facts- should we have a baby or get an abortion? moreResolved Question: Is this a good introductory paragraph for my persuasive essay on the pros of adoption?
Each day thousands of children are placed in foster homes eagerly awaiting for a warm safe home, along with the love and care of parents. So with adoption, it can definitely be beneficial to you, the child, and the entire population of mankind. By adopting a child, it will help replenish a child’s life , as well as provide a child for a couple who is unable to produce offspring. Adoption can not only do that, but can also cut down on the world’s global population too. Adoption is a wonderful choice, and therefore, more people should take in the consideration of adopting a child. It is a miracle to sustain a child’s life without the option of abortion, and can certainly provide the child with a healthy and positive attitude on the outlooks of life. moreResolved Question: AP's and First Moms please!!?
Hi. We are fostering a little boy and awaiting a court date for adoption. His mother has had a rough year (a rough life to be honest) and she lost her mother to cancer just recently....as well as signing her termination papers for this child in August. Because of the many reasons her child was removed from her care, she is not allowed any contact with us or her child. I don't know her address, but I do know ways to get in contact if I needed to. Our son had some wonderful Christmas pictures made. We plan on giving them as Christmas cards to family and friends. I am thinking of sending a card with some pictures of him enclosed through the contact that I have. I know they will give her the card if asked to do so. I don't think this would be in violation of the states demands on no contact, as we aren't communicating with her directly....but, frankly, that isn't really a concern of mine. What does concern me is that I might be 'bringing up more pain for her' by giving her pictures of her child. They are NOT family pictures....just him....but I guess I am just wondering if I should wait a little while longer or go ahead and send them. What would you do as an AP or what would you like as a first mommy? I just know that right now she is basically all alone. She may have some friends, but she has lost nearly all of her family....and I don't want to bring about more pain for her at this time. Thanks!!Thanks for all of the kind words!! I 'knew' this was the right answer...I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't be adding to her stress and sadness! Thanks so much!! Freckle Face: dunno why you got a thumbs down?? Not from me! All of the answers have been wonderful to hear! moreResolved Question: A Ministers perspective of Gay Marriage; Should this become a Civil Rights Issue?
We need to learn to be open minded enough to discuss this issue based on rational grounds. I do not feel that homosexuality is a manifestation of a deficit in character or emotional or mental ability. A person who is gay or has gay tendencies may have been "wired" differently from birth. I know this is a throwback to the nature versus nurture argument. However, we must come to grips with the reality that the human sexuality is the most complex of any animal. This is probably because we as humans have the most complex and highly evolved minds. Therefore, unlike most species our sexual involvement is not simply an act of procreation but it is also an expression of love and communication on a very intimate level. Sometimes our interest or connection with others does not come in the package of the opposite gender. In addition, the psychoanalytic theorist, Freud and Erikson suggest that the lines of human sexuality are not clearly marked. (Most people are not 100% heterosexual or 100% homosexual). Most people are somewhere right or left of center along the continuum. Culture, tradition and religion have created taboos that have discriminated against certain groups based on irrational philosophical and ideological grounds. I am sure that most people are aware that homosexuality will never become normal or normative behavior in western and especial American culture. However, homosexuality should not be viewed as an act or transgression against God and/or Humanity. Many of you will probably tow the line in the sand against the acceptance of homosexuality using a literalistic interpretation of scripture from the Old Testament to the New Testament. However, I will caution you, that the same scriptures were used to justify African/African American oppression from Leviticus, to the Letters of Paul. So I do not think that we should use, misuse and abuse the Sacred scriptures to justify anyone else’s oppression; homosexuals. We must become brave and broad-minded enough view the big picture of the purpose of Faith and religion. The corresponding theme from the Old Testament to the New Testament is a theme of Liberation. In a literal since, the Old Testament discusses the Liberation of a wayward people who are looking to a Messiah to help them re-establish the Kingdom of Yahweh and deliver them from their multiple international enemies. The Gospel shares with us a Savior (Jesus) who will bring this Kingdom down through an act of LOVE, which led to His (Christ) death on the Cross!!!! (John 3:16) (Yes, Jesus died to liberate his people and all people) The purpose of Faith is to bring peace, justice, love and “abundant” life to all of God’s children; even those who are oppressed. I believe that we should share in the mission of the long awaited Messiah. We should embrace God's Kingdom, expressed through Jesus Christ and share it with others. Abernathy called The Kingdom, "God's Beloved Kingdom." One way to share in the Kingdom of God is to untie the cultural and religious chains that oppress other people. We need to fight for the cause of liberation of everyone even if it leads to our own cross and blood shed. To me the topic homosexuality is not an issue of sin, but it is an issue of Social Justice. God’s people are being oppressed through draconian laws that prohibit them from legal marriage and adopting children in most states. We need to share God’s “Beloved Kingdom” to all who are oppressed and this includes Homosexuals. 6 months ago Additional Details 6 months ago In light of this "blog," share your thoughts. 1) Do you think that gay marriage and adoptions are a civil rights issue? 2). My ex was born in England. His mom met his step-dad, who was a US citizen. They got married and and came to the US when my ex was 10. His step-dad adopted him when he was 15 and my ex changed his last name. The family has lived in the US since 1985. His mother never became a citizen, and neither did he. I met him in 1992. We got married in 93 and had 2 kids. We divorced in 2003, and he has been in and out of jail/prison ever since. Mostly drugs and drug related charges. After his last arrest, they looked furter into his background and discovered that he is illegal, and began the deportation process. There are some complications with his paper work, so he is awaiting deportation until they get them figured out. It has something to do with the adoption, in which I don't understand. My ex hasn't been there for the children, and is pretty much out of their lives, however they are very sad that he is going to be sent away, and my possibly never see them again. I don't understand how they can deport someone who has children who are US citizens. Even though I am a little happy he will be gone, I am sad for the kids. This is a HUGE deal for them. Can someone please explain this law to me? Thanks! I totally agree..he is a neusance to society, and get's what he deserves. This is only a very small amount of all the bad things that he has done. I have re-married to a very wonderful man and role model. It's hard to tell how people would react if I led on to be as happy as I am that he leaving. I just feel horrible for the kids is all. moreResolved Question: Do you support Arkansas?
From the AP: Rural and evangelical voters propelled Arkansas to adopt one of the nation's few bans against unmarried couples becoming foster or adoptive parents. Yet, according to Adoption.com there are 164 children, in Arkansas, awaiting placement. What will the "Christians" who voted against adoption do to save the living children of Arkansas in need of homes? moreResolved Question: We equate the joy of adoption with the pain of the loss - wouldn't this be the same?
organ donations -- happens every day but in order for someone to get that heart, lung or other transplant, one must die. One of the execs in our building is anxiously awaiting a heart transplate for his six year old daughter. He waits anxiously and can't wait for that phone call -- knowing that his daughter's life will be saved by the loss of another. I can understand an ap's joy when the child comes into their lives through adoption and understand the pain that a mother's choice has caused her. yet, you cry out for adoptions to literally be banned in all but the tiniest fragment of cases -- would you call for the same with organ donations as well?i'm getting some great answers from different perspectives. this is not meant to upset anyone -- i was talking to someone today about children's organ donations and she mentioned how their gain could only come from someone else's loss and *the lightbulb went off* as i thought about adoption. I just wanted to get some other views on this. Thanks everyone!Phil -- it's not about 'undermining' my analogy -- it's about learning.holy man! it's going to be difficult to choose a best answer -- there are excellent answers from all sides. This question wasn't one about the pro-adoption vs. the anti-adoption and i'm glad (most) people left that out and focused on the question. I, myself, have chosen organ donation. I also believe in adoption. I can't choose a best answer -- too many good ones....i'm going to leave this one to the voters. They were too good to choose just one. Thanks everyone for not turning this into some vile wicked spat. I really do appreciate it! moreResolved Question: How can I help my friend understand what is right?
I live in a small town in TX and there has been a horrible scandal that dominated our community lately. My family has been attending the same church ever since I can remember.(18+ years) I have been best friends with our pastor's daughter since kindergarten. Last month it came out that our pastor had had an inappropiate relationship with his own daughter. To make a long story short she is over 3 months pregnant now. Our whole town and escpecially the church has been horrible divided. A new pastor has come and the old one is being held in the county jail awaiting trial. Now my friend has made up her mind to have an abortion. Adoption has been suggested but he is afraid the child could be malformed and no one will want to adopt. How can I make her understand that no matter what she has gone through or how the child was created that God still loves her and the child? moreResolved Question: What are your opinions on...?
Placing foster children into homes that are desperate for a child. I was reading on a diff. site today about a foster mother who opened her home to foster children. In her state they have a year for the natural parents to work on reclaiming custody of their child. This foster mother was finding herself angry at the natural parents for allowing themselves to be in that situation. The foster mother has wanted a child for so long, that she couldn't fathom being in the situation of the natural parents. Every time they (first parents and foster mother) talked she was angry at the first parents. what type of impact do you think this could have on the foster child and his/her reuniting with the natural parents? Do you think this is healthy for the foster mother? Going into a foster placement type of situation, with the "hope" of an adoption, would it come in between the chances of reunion for the foster child with his/her natural family? Would the state have a better chance of reunification if the foster families weren't desperate for a child? Do "that many" families exist that are willing to open their homes to children they don't want to adopt, instead offer their home as a "mutual safe zone" for child awaiting transition back into their family? What type of impact could this have on child, foster parents, and natural family? I am not by any means saying this is right or wrong, I support foster homes to possible adoption, far before any other type of adoption. Just putting this out there for discussion because I think this is common, and could be an interesting discussion. wow, incredible answers, thanks you guys. moreVoting Question: Step parent adoption, what is the proccess like in CA?
My husband is trying to adopt my daughter.. We have no idea where her bio dad is. We haven't heard from him in about 4-5 years. My daughter is actually terrified of him. We already had the paperwork prepared and submitted to the court, now we are awaiting to hear from Child services. Does anyone know the process from here? How long? Things we should know? moreResolved Question: Where can I find listings of children awaiting adoption - 1-3 yr olds- that either have mild special needs, or
no special needs. I hope that does not sound bad, but I think some people are just more able to handle severe special needs, and I think we would do better with a child with mild or no special needs. We are a long while away from actually adopting, but I just thought I would try to narrow down some sites - either USA or International. Any suggestions? Thanks! moreResolved Question: How to politely deal with Unsolicited Advice & Busy-Bodies regarding my newborn?
I have my first child due (by way of adoption) in less than two weeks. Because of the way she's coming to our family, many people believe that I know nothing about motherhood and therefore need oodles of unsolicited advice. The mistake I made was politely thanking these people and tried to ignore them instead of telling them to BACK OFF. I have closed my MySpace account in an attempt to escape and allow myself some space but to no avail. Their behavior is borderline stalking me. I understand that they are excited for me about my long awaited entrance to Motherhood. However, due to the highly stressful nature of this, what I really need right now is space. How can I politely let these people know that if they don't back off I'm about a step away from a restraining order? moreResolved Question: Would it be cruel to insist that Illegals awaiting deportation must either take their children or put ...?
... or put them up for adoption? People lose their children every day for negligence and abuse. Is it really not abusive to put a child in circumstances that could so easily result in losing both parents to deportation? Child Protective Services investigates and evaluates homes when neighbors call with worries for children they see neglected or abused. Should this be considered the same? Worse? ...Yes, I'm saying they have two choices: Take the children with them or put them up for adoption. Normally, they leave the children with family or friends, most of whom are non-English speaking and disloyal to American law. Being raised by such people would prevent American values from being instilled in the kids. Adoption demand is always higher than supply. moreResolved Question: Why don't Pro Life Republicans Adopt More Children?
In 2004, there were close to 140,000 children of varying ages in the United States, awaiting adoption. About 50,000 of these children were Black. Republicans oppose abortion. Many of them oppose Birth Control. Yet these unwanted children need homes. While these American kids waited for new parents, more than 200,000 foreign children were adopted by U.S. citizens. These children were mostly babies, because adoptive parents usually want infants. These statistics do not include the number of children in foster care, who are not adoptive, since their parents have not signed the necessary papers and the courts have not removed parental rights. Republicans always use adoption as a choice for a woman who is pregnant and unable to care for her child. Yet this child, if given up for adoption, may spend his or her formative years in foster care, with no chance of adoption. Why don't more Republicans live up to their Pro Life arguments and adopt more unwanted children? moreResolved Question: im here for SERIOUS help ONLY?

http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/Adoption_and_Foster_Care/default.asp The Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) is launching a new adoption campaign during Child Abuse Prevention Month called Why Not Me? Some 4,000 abused and neglected children in Texas are awaiting adoption, almost half of them are older than 9. The older the child, the longer they wait for adoption, and each day they ask themselves, "Why not me? Why can't I have a family?" moreResolved Question: Im going to get reported for this but what the heck...read it anyway please.?
My last 2 questions were about abortion versus adoption of a specia needs child. I would like to explain why I asked these things. I have a nephew who has autism and to me he is coolest most awesome kid I know. I know he has autism yet thats not who he is...he is just this awesome kid. His mom/dad and him recently moved to a really small town and it is very religious. These people have something to say about everything considered ethical and all sit at the local cafe and talk about it. With my nephew they have gawked and said things that they dont think people here. It breaks my heart. So thats why I wondered. I wondered why these people dont see him "as a gift from god" and then I wondered "how many people would choose to take on a child with disabilities..or maybe this once abortion would be ok to them" I also wonder why are there so many kids that I work with in foster care or awaiting adoption. I work in Special Ed by the way. I hear arguements against abortion but no onewilling to do anything for these kids. So thank you very much to those who answered and screw the rest of you who thought you had me pegged. moreResolved Question: What are your thoughts??
I work for an adoption agency and see statistics daily for the kids in the foster care system.... 1.7 million children are orphans because of : abuse / neglect and abandonement 500,000 are in foster care. (awaiting for parental rights to be terminated) 100,000 are adoptable 1 out of 5 children who are "adoptable" will turn 18 this year, and be an adult without a shred of a family. SO in Hollywood it is becoming almost a trend to adopt in other countries. Angelina Jolie, stated , that , "It took me longer to bond with Shiloh (her biological daughter with Brad Pitt) because she wasn't a baby I was able to pick out, Like my other children" Madonna adopted from Africa. Though these kids were coming from poverty. Do you think maybe the focus should be on helping Kids in America? They are in fact our future. When we are gone they will be the "American Body". Why and how? I wrote this article explaining how I felt: Too Many children left behind. Please see what I offer as a soultion to help with these issues. "Did you know that Foster/Adopt Parents don't do counseling before they take a child in? Foster/Adopt Parents don't take a psychological test either. I have noticed that in the data banks that there are still over 10 thousand children waiting for adoption and all over the age of 5 for the past two years plus (Texas). With this I have noticed several sites of people pursuing to adopt babies but not older children. I find this discouraging that so many people that can not have children of their own by natural ways do not choose to take on a child in the system over the age of 5. I have found many of these children suffer from severe Detachment and Emotional damage, yet the State provides no constant intensive Emotional Health services. The children at best see a therapist once a or twice a month which doesn't resolve their abandoment issues nor their anger and hurt issues of being placed not in just one home but several homes over the course of a year. I have first hand knowledge these kids are left in ophanages for a few months than transfered to a home than in a couple months later transferred again. They have no stability nor any Emotional help to deal with the dramatic changes in their lives. At these times these children show signs of either complete withdrawn or complete abusive natures. Than alot of them age out of the system and don't thrive to become caring productive emotional stable adults. More than half of the girls end up pregant and living with abusive partners. More than half of most of these children end up on the streets or jail. In order for better outcomes and futures for these kids we must stop the constant cycle of rolling them over to new foster homes all the time. Most of the children with siblings don't or to far away to see their siblings. This is a shame because the only bond these kids have left is severed due to lack of good Foster Parents. I encourage Foster Parenting but doing a basic backround check, some classes and a home study doesn't rectify the problem. These Foster Parents need not take kids in hopes of getting a young child to raise as their own. These Foster Parents like natural parents should be in Counseling sessions to insure they have the mentality and good emotional health to truely understand that if they take these kids that are awaiting for Adoption can be theirs with alot of hard work in participating in Emotional COunseling before and after the child is placed with them until the child's symptons of oppression or aggression are resolved in order to gain a bond to help keep the children placed in on place and possibly adopted by that Foster Family. This is where our system is Failing Children. They place the kids in where they can but the matches are not always to the children's needs unless it's the needs of phyisical. Than these Foster/Adopt Parents tend to these kids with no clue what is wrong with them, because CPS never gives them the gist of the problems prior to removals or termination. CPS doesn't give much history on these children from the family, schools, parents, nor any other source of these kids past. The kids come in as vicitims but have learned from their "abusers" how to react or act on different forms of abuse but counseling is never given extensively to help curve what these child have learned from their former environments. With this these children get around other children just like them and the destructive behavior of these kids is encouraged by their peers with like problems. Thus these kids never stop the cycle and as adults repeat or become worse than their "abusers." First thing taught in Child Psychology is that Children Model and repeat everything they hear and see. So if bad behavior is being reinforced by the abuser for many years, than an other child is helping reinforce bad behavior, as possibly well as a Foster/Adopt parent (knowing they don't do couseling or any testing prior to becoming Surgorate) end up encouraging bad behavior, and the child has no stablity with one home for more than 2 years with only a couple counseling sessions if that to help with behavior than EVERY CHILD IN FOSTER CARE is going to FAIL in adulthood. Not just that most children in Foster Care stop Thriving. Yes, Family placement would be nice but CPS doesn't always want to do that so they don't really search. Sorry it's the Truth. Some kids come from homes that had minor problems but CPS had the judges convinced the Parent was ill prepared to take the child home so Termination was granted after 12 months. Than there's The incentive of keeping their jobs because as of 2011 these Caseworkers will have no job because it is going to private sector and they aren't going with it. Than there's the financial bonus to get kids adopted. Well, getting termination is easy in Texas so many judges love thinking they are protecting children by doing this.,but getting adopted for children over 5 is a curse to these kids. Why can't we get more Funding, not for Adoption or Foster Care, but for more intensive Family based Services for children of different severities of problems? Such as all Services provided to Parents in both Removal and Family based are the same. Why can't we tailor these services for Family based services with more intensive services of 2 to 3 times a week counseling with children and children by themselves. Parenting Aids in homes twice a week. A big brother/big Sister outreach program required to do by these families to put more intervention in to see problems of parenting and for the kids to have someone who they can focus on when there are more than on child in the house. My goal is to put these into effect. We have a request going through to push a 1 year program for Nurses to assist low income/single parent families for the first year of an infants life to help prevent homelessness, abortions, joblessness, malnurishement, and fatalities of infants by the Pro-Life organization in Houston. I believe an half an ounce of prevention leads to a pound of cure. I believe my suggestions are Prevention with some needed immediate Cure.""I found, from information provided by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, in Fiscal 2003, 30 foster children died in our state's care; in Fiscal 2004, 38 foster children died; and in Fiscal 2005, 48 foster children died. "Data shows that while the number of foster children in our state's care increased 24 percent from 26,133 in Fiscal 2003 to 32,474 in Fiscal 2005, the number of deaths increased 60 percent."-Caroly Keeton Strayhorn I am one of those parents fighting a Termination of Parental Rights Hearing in two months. moreResolved Question: Enforced sterilisation, for irresponsible mothers?
I bumped into some-one I was in a care home with yesterday. When I first met her she was 17, with 2 babies who had been taken into care, and were awaiting adoption- She had her first child at 14 years old, and second child at 16. Yesterday she was pushing a double buggy with twins in, both 3 months old... When asked how she'd been, she told me (unashamedly, that she was a heroin addict) and that a THIRD child had been born (prior to the twins) addicted to heroin, and heartbreakingly, had been put on a methadone programme at birth, and put on the 'child protection register' It took the local authorities 8 months before they took the baby into care and put her on the adoption list also. Now at the age of 24, she has just had her twins, both born with heroine addictions too, and also put on the 'child protection register' It is only a matter of time, until these poor babies are also taken into care. My question is, Should she be sterilised without her consent?IT MAKES ME SO ANGRY... What are your thoughts??SORRY EVERYONE>>>(ESP TRUDY JOY) IT SEEMS TO HAVE POSTED TWICE!!Dear nommie Mr "I'm a nice sensitive girly guy" I don't think so! I posted the question once and somehow it showed itself twice... not my doing! My question has nothing to do with "abortion being enforced, if you earn less than 25k a year" My question was... Should enforced sterilisation be made compulsory if the child to be born has no chance in life.... Sort yourself out!! How did I post it 5 times? People answered the first time I asked.... You PC bod ;) Incidentally, I don't need a life, I have one.... Maybe thats why I'm not as angry as you?! ;) moreResolved Question: Enforced sterilisation....For Irresponsible Mothers?
