For my birthday just gone I turned 21 my friends all chipped in and got me a teddy bear from build a bear. It's very nice but I feel kind of short changed as whenever my birthday rocks around I'm given one gift from everyone. Everyone else gets seperate gifts from everyone and I always get my friends nice gifts that I know they love or its something they need, spending at least $50 each on their birthdays and asking them what they want before I go get it. I don't mean to sound ungrateful or petty, I know its the thought that counts but I feel as if I'm not being thought about at all, what would a 21 year old woman want with a teddy bear? I had to pretend I absolutely loved it when really I was seething with disappointment due to the fact this happens to me every year. They even asked me what I wanted and I said a gift voucher (seeing as I knew they'd be doing a "collaborative" gift) but I still got a teddy bear! The question I am asking is, What do I do? I love my mum dearly and we have always been close. However, in the last 15 years she has become more and more of a bitch to me. Resolved Question: How do I get past the hurt?

My wife did some horrific things to me when we first got married. Without getting into details, I will say that being with her cost me emotionally, financially, and professionally. I don't attribute all that has happened to her; however I can say that if she was not in my life I would be better off than I am now. My wife has apologized for the things she has done to me, but to this date I don't have a reasonable explanation as to why she did them. Now that we are working on our marriage I over react to everything that she does. If she's not in the mood for sex one night, then I react as if she's pushing me away constantly (which is something she has done in the past). When she gives me a crappy gift for my birthday or fathers day, etc I react as if she purposely gave me a crappy gift to hurt me (which she has done before). The list goes on. I know that there are things I have a legitimate cause to get upset about, but I can't differentiate them from the things which are normal. I can imagine from my wife's point of view that it seems that she can never make up for the past; however there are constant reminders of what she has done to me. I no longer own my own home & currently live with my father...that's an everyday reminder. I am at a job that I hate, making half of what I use to...that's a constant reminder. I have 50/50 custody of our son & have to pay child support...that's a constant reminder. The only way I can express how I feel is to tell you to imagine being a child and constantly getting slapped by your parents. You get to a point where everytime a person raises their hand you flinch. Your parents can say sorry and promise never to hit you again; however you're afraid that the first time you don't flinch you're going to get a tooth knocked out. How can I move forward? P.S. I am seeking counselling; however my therapist wants me to focus on my own issues and we don't discuss my wife for now. more

It's my dad's 50th birthday..tomorrow. My sister's and I haven't gotten him anything. I'm 20 and studying abroad in Ireland, so I'm not going to be there and I don't really have a lot of spare cash. I know we've completely waited to the last minute, but to be honest I've been caught up in stuff here nd totally forgot. My sister's didn't say anything either. My mom's 50th was last year and we got her a laptop, but she never uses it. We didn't throw a party for her and wont throw one for my dad bc they honestly don't have that many close friends. Her husband has been laid off along time. She doesn't work. Early February was my friend's daughter's birthday and I bought her a gift. Mid February was her son's bday. Funding a movie outing for him alone will leave them unable to go. Hi, today I bought a Visa gift card.. (a 50$ card, red and white with a grey gift box on it... it's written "The perfect choice" on it.. Well anyways I tried subscripting for a RuneScape membership (I always do it with gift cards).. It declined my payment 4 times.. So then I went to check my card account on giftcardstore.ca to see if there was anything wrong and it said that Jagex took 4 payments on my card while the payment was declined! Then a dew minutes ago I tried logging into my card's account and it just says that it's Marked as fraud... detailed story:: everyone please help i need someone to talk to i think he might hurt me So when i graduated from high school, ALL of the friends went away for college, i went to community college. I was sad, and started working at this restaurant. my first day i met a guy, it was also his first day, and we hit it off perfectly. in the matter of weeks we became BEST FRIENDS. we were inseparable. literally every free moment i had was spent with him. we had so much fun. and he was really funny, cute, and charming. he was a senior that year, so i got to meet alot of his friends, and everyone loved him, and he had every girl chasing him for his attention. so eventually as time went on, i developed a crush on him. and it seemed liked he liked me too, even thou i suspected he was bisexual/gay. but the more we hung the more i thought he was straight. he would take me out to eat everyday, gave me gifts, and made me feel so special. however i noticed that he treated everyone else around him bad. especially his family. and he used ppl. so i thought that he spent so much time with me cuz he liked me, however one day he told me even thou he knew alot of ppl that i was the only friend he ever had. well soon, i discovered he shoplifted often, and he got me into it. i knew my parents had plenty of money and i didnt need to steal, but i saw how he would still literally thousands of dollars of stuff without ever getting caught. i mean out the mall, high end stores like saks, nordstroms, nemian marcus, target. i knew it was wrong, but we did it so much i never thought about gettin caught. well eventually we did, and we went to jail, i had been stopped months before, and he didnt do around me anymore. but he did that day and. we went to jail. and he never even said sorry. i forgave him, i couldnt stay mad at him, i was sooo in love with him. he was the first boy i trusted in years. he would tell me that he wanted to marry me and this stuff. and it seemed lik he was serious. but he never asked me out. we spent everyday together and he never even kissed me, we would hold hands but thats it. but we never talked about it, to me it seemd lik actions spoke louder than words i noticed that he was using everyone around. and he didnt care about anybody feelings. he has a rough home life. his parents still together, married, living together. but the daddy cheats and has who knows how many kids. and the momma girlfriend spends the night everyday. the aunt, grandma, his younger sister (she is bipolar), mother, are all gay. and he told me was raped by a family member when he was a child. i think it was man. but he didnt say. all of his friends always joke and say he is crazy as hell, and be surprised when they here i never seen him fight. turns out he fights all the time and is diagnosed BIPOLAR///(and later on wit multiple personalities) and was medicated for it. but he wont even argue with me. he also told me that he hates animals. killed his sister rabbit cause she got it around his birthday. and killed his puppy cause it bit him. and killed fish too. and doesnt feel bad. so i found out that he is gay. and i ask him, he denies, but i seen pictures and text on his ex phone. but he only used the boy for money. he doesnt care about nobody but his self. he tricked the boy to think he was in love with him. and they were soul mates. but he ended up cheating with him wit this boy who goes to my school, which brings me to the problem. one day him and his dad got into a bad fight. i went to pick him up, and he was bleeding. i am now away to college, and he ended up coming to stay with me. it was suppose to be for a lil bit till he could go back home. but he wouldnt leave. and he basically sucked every penny i had. i got a dollar, i gave him 50 cent or more cause i was sooo in love. but thats when i found out about the first boy. he would take out both of us and pay for me. he was so nice. but a victim. i mean i just couldnt kick him out, he started treating me bad, and didnt appreciate all i did for him, i mean i even gotten him out of jail during the summer. but i was scared to kick him out, i didnt know why thou. it was lik Resolved Question: baby shower disappointment (very long)?

My SIL is pregnant and I was really excited about throwing a baby shower for her. Now all I can think is why? My husband's brother's wife and I were going to throw one together for our SIL. My MIL happened to be there when I brought up the topic and she mentioned that she wanted to do a Going Away party for my BIL who is leaving for the Army the same weekend that I wanted to do the baby shower. My MIL and husband's brother's wife decided that it would be a great idea to just combine both the baby shower and the Going Away party. I think this is the worst idea ever. I was hoping to have just females and kids since I know none of the guys want to babysit. Now it will be all the relatives. This is close to 50 people in a small house. My SIL doesn't care as long as she gets her gifts. I know I shouldn't care since none of them seem to care but I can't help but be disappointed. I wonder why none of them care at all. Now I don't even know how to go about planning games. Most of the women can't read or write in English or our native tongue. The men will take over the living room which leaves all the women crowded in the kitchen which is also where all the food will be so people will be coming and going. The only games I can think of is guessing how big my SIL's tummy is and guessing how much candy/items are in a jar. Most of the women are old and I know they'll be too embarrassed to do much because of the men present. If you know of any other games I can possibly do, please say so. I want to make the best of the situation. Keep in mind the limited room. Most of us will be standing since the kitchen is small. Another thing, I happened to mention that my husband wanted to do our son's birthday that weekend too but I didn't want to do a birthday party period. My husband's brother's wife thought it would be a great idea to do my son's birthday along with the baby shower and the go away party. I tried telling her no nicely but she said it's not a big deal since all we need is a cake for him. I only have one child, how can it not be a big deal? My son IS a big deal to me. I couldn't believe how inconsiderate she sounded when she told me it wasn't a big deal. I was seething inside but I just smiled and told her No. I raged about it to my husband and even he doesn't like the idea. Would you agree to doing a birthday party for your child along with a baby shower and a go way party? My son is turning 2. Last year we had a big party for him and I was told by my husband's brother's wife that I should have had a smaller party because he won't remember it any way. It's hard to throw a small party when we come from such big families.Blu, I'm glad I'm not your wife too. Your children, if you have any, may not be important to you but my son is very important to me. My SIL doesn't care about the baby shower. She just wants presents. She is only 18. It is still cold outside. There aren't any music or dancing at our family gatherings. We are Asian. Our family gatherings consist of men eating first, then children, then the women. Then the men sit around and talk while the women clean. After that, everyone goes their own way. It's like that at all of their parties. The only times they stay are when they want to gamble. I'm 35 and she 25. We been dating for 6 months. She would often call me to come over, and me call her. Was perfect 50/50 relatioship. We met on dating site about 3 years ago, and hooked up for no strings sex twice only and agreed to remain friends as both never wanted commitment. Ok so i have these 2 friends lets call them may and fan. ok so i met them 2 years ago and they were both really nice. But fan a year later lied about going on a field trip and was lying to everyone and hurt may so much. May forgave her so i said ok it was just one of those things. We got along so well but recently they have both been lying to me and ganging up on me and those chose each other over me. Ok so fan has a beachhouse that she goes to sometimes she always invites may and leaves me out. I dont always want to go but its just the point. So i went to the house once. May has gone maybe 20 times. Not kidding. Then the worst part is they lie to me about it. I will ask may how her bunnies are because one was sick and she said they were fine. About and hour later may says that they are in thekees and she felt bad that she was lying i was so mad because they do this everytime and i tell them everytime it hurts my feelings more when they lie. Mays bunny recently passed away and i was the one there. But she chooses fan over me. The worst part is they make it so obvious. In school fan will say all of these inside jokes and will leave me out and i dont want to sound spoiled but for my birthday i got a $10 maybe less gift and for mays birthday she got a $50 dollar gift card. Voting Question: How many clothes should a guy own?

I realize the answer to this question is "however many he wants", but what do you think is a normal, average, practical answer? I just finished up folding about three months worth of laundry that'd been sitting in my baskets since whenever it was all washed and have realized I probably have too many. I assume I have them all because I never throw clothes out or give them away, unless they're absolutely destroyed. But I still wind up accumulating them because I will buy new ones periodically, and receive them as gifts at Christmas and my birthday. Quickly counting my closets, drawers and some of my recent laundry stacks, I have something on the order of 150-200 shirts (tees, dress shirts, sweaters) something like 50 pairs of socks, 50 pairs of underwear, and then there's pants, shorts, swimsuits, winter jackets, spring jackets, rain jackets, suit jackets, and 8 different bathrobes (those were all gifts) In a couple of weeks I'm going to start putting the winter gear away into those bins that go under the bed, and I figure then would be a good time to make some decisions about a lot of them and toss some in a donation box. What do you think my target number should be? more
