Open Question: Why is my sister like this towards me?
Im 19 my sisters 24 with 2 kids, since i had depression from the age of 12 she's always acted very 'different' towards me, at first she'd call me names, say im dumb, ugly ect. She did some cruel things to me infront of people to embarrass me, one included pulling down my trousers infront of my boyfriend & hers.. At the begining i was very sucicidle & after her calling me names it did not help at all! After hearing her call me thick & ugly all the time i believed it now i have no confidence at all & i absolutely hate my body, i forever think im fat. Anyway the other day we went for a meal for my mum's birthday, while sat there we had an argument over a bloody cake, even though my nephew had told my mum she had a cake my sister was still making it be a 'surprise' for some reason.. while she was sat by my mum she was moving her lips as if to say go tell them were ready for the cake & she sat there doing actions of blowing candles out.. so i went to tell the pub people we were ready for the cake.. as i went back to the table she got up & took her little boy to the toilet with my mum & boyfriend in toe, as her boyfriend come out of the toilets he was walking towards the bar, i asked him what he was doing he said asking about the cake.. i said no iv told them it's coming in a minute and he said ok, anyway my sister come back & had a f*cking spasm on me because i told them to get the cake, she said 'No i was telling u to tell me wen the cakes coming' which i couldnt have anyway because there was a big brick wall in the way. It seems like she does things like this so she can argue with us. And while sat there my dad was going on about how tiny my wrists were, she looked at him in disgust and said 'WHAT U ON ABOUT MINE ARE SMALL LIKE HERS' i was really confused by this, after she said that i said 'IT'S A F*CKING WRIST FFS' She always does things like this, my mum says shes jealous but i dont see what of, she said it's because i have no kids & i have freedom.. but shes decided to have kids & thats not my fault. Iv put up with alot from her over the years & i feel like really cutting all ties with her because im sick of how she treats people, she treats my mum bad but my mum says nothing to stick up for herself, she takes the mick out of my boyfriend behind his back, she calls her kids names & says the most disgusting things iv ever heard, she asked her 2 years old son 'Does daddy finger u up the bum' :| She says she has depression/postnatal depression, which i don't believe one bit, she's the exact same, she even did her son a party for his birthday, that in my eyes is not a depressed girl.. when i was i locked myself in my bedroom 24/7 didn't want to speak to anyone not even my own mum. Does she realise postntal depression means u dont want anyone to even hold ur son? (Her baby's 6 months old and she's only said she has postnatal depression now) She was fine wen he was born! What do u think of all this? Iv really had enough, I don't feel like i can talk to my mum about it all & explain things because depression has changed me to being uncomfortable talking to people, especially people that i should be fine talking with like my mum. I won't dare talk to my sister about it either, she's just so bitchy about everything & would just laugh to be honest. I could go on & write alot more about all this but i won't x moreOpen Question: Im 13 and im allowed to wear makeup. why do i feel weird?
In the span of two weeks my mum asked me"Hey do you want to wear makeup" I was like "Umm I dont know" She said "You dont have to wear alot, just a little" I said "Oh Ok I'll try it. So she came back with alot (well what seemed like a lot to me) 4 EYE shaddow quads Brown pencil eyeliner (because i have very fair skin and black would looks to harsh) Brown mascara (same reason as above) So I tried it on 20 minutes ago in the bathroom Eyeshaddow looks crap (probably because I dont know how to apply it) eyeliner looks crap (again i dont know how to apply it and none of the youtube vids help because they are 10 minutes long and the mascara looks weird. I wouldnt mind wearing some makeup but i dont want it to look noticable, mabey jsut starting of will mascara and then go up later. I kind of feel im to young. Today I have my uncles birthday and there will be kids around my age 3 boys 9,14,12 i know them well one is my cousin and 3 girls 16,9,9. The nine year old is my cousin, the 9 year old is my sis and the 16 year old is my cousin. I jsut thought i would add this in let me explain. The 16 year old cakes it on and it makes me look weird when im around her. If i made the mascara look too noticable my old fashioned grandparents will a) say whats on your eyes, why are you wearing that and they will make it out as if im way to young. b) the adults will say are you wearing mascara how come. then i get embarressed and then i wished i never wore it(thats how i think it mite go down today) why does makeup have to be so difficult. aftewr typing this and after you reading this (thanks btw) i mioght not wear anything today. But in the future how to i apply eyeliner without it looking to weird how to i apple mascara with out looking different. and how do i apply eyeshaddow i dont own any brushes i only own the sponge applicatior thing. thankyou for you valuable time moreOpen Question: Miss Spider and Sunny patch friends birthday?
My 3 year old daughter wants a Miss Spider and Sunny patch friends birthday party. I have already searched online and finally decided that I can do it. I am looking for recipes and menu ideas for vegetarian lunch for the party. There are going to be about 30-40 people, adults and kids. Also, I am most probably going to make the cake myself (wish me luck) and would really be grateful if anyone has tips, pics or ideas for the cake. Any suggestions as to what would make the party a hit?? Thanks in advance moreResolved Question: What activities can a person do at a hotel for a Birthday party with family?
At the end of April my husband and I are planing a Birthday party for my daughter with Family. It's gonna be grandparents and Aunts and Uncles and Cousins and and the kids ages very from age 9 to age 2 and two of the oldest are boys. The Hotel has a water park and we will be doing that for some of the hours we are there but not the entire time. Plus my daughter wants Garfield cake does anyone have Ideas where I can find ideas for that. I thought even cup cakes too just don't know what kind of candy's to make it look like Garfield any thing would help Thanks!! moreOpen Question: how much do I charge for a cake and cupcakes that will feed 100 people?
I just started baking/decorating cakes and this will be the first I charge for. It is a family friend and I don't want to overprice, but I want it to be worth my time and effort as well. They are asking for a large cake to feed 100 people and around 50 cupcakes to feed the kids that will be there. This is a 50th Anniversary and a 70th birthday cake/cupcakes. moreOpen Question: Controlling or abuse?
A few months ago, I was at the birthday party for my best friend's daughter. She introduced me to her cousin's kids, their mom and grandmother. I did notice that the kids were kind of withdrawn, did not talk much or interact with the other kids. Later on, I moved into another room (they have a very large home) and saw this grandmother was force feeding her granddaughter a piece of cake. She was saying that she had to finish it and the child looked like she was going to gag. She clearly did not want it but it was being forced into her mouth. My stomach flipped over like it does when you witness something disturbing. I did not say anything and left the room. After that, my friend told me what a great lady this grandma was and how they were going on vacation with her, her son (the cousin), wife and kids. I thought that maybe I had misjudged what I saw. Now they are back from vacation and my friend tells me that this grandma and her son are control freaks. They dictate everything the kids eat and do. Constant orders. Everyone was miserable. I shared my story with her and it collaborated everything that she saw. Having said this, I cannot get the memory of what I saw out of my mind. I witnessed abuse. It wasn't a grandma concerned that a kid finishes what they start - she seemed to enjoy her torment. So what should I do now? I don't know these people. Do I ask my friend to call child protective services or should I? Should I mind my business? moreOpen Question: Best custom cake bakery in dallas tx?

This is the biggest order Ive ever had and I have too many ideas at once. Please help me organize them all into one cake, or elimate some... I dont know. Just please give any input, Im really nervous about this one. I definently know I want a city building cake on top of the main cake and spiderman will be sitting on top. Around the bottom of the bulding will just be a sidewalk and the street. What else can I add down there? Would cars be too much? Some spiders? I also know I want a big 3D number 5 somewhere along the street and sidewalk, so I can run spiderman's web from the top of the building, down to entangle the number. What can the number be made of? I also want to incorporate comic bubbles somehow. It would be cool for it to say happy birthday with the kids name in it, but I dont know where I would put it. I guess I can make it seem like its coming from spiderman and have it up in the air by his head, but I hate when wiring shows. I also wanted to include a black/red spiderman theme AND/OR sandman somehow, using vanilla wafers like sand. Any additional ideas? I figured Id get some creative ones in this catergory. moreVoting Question: What are your thoughts on this?
I was reading an old article about Todd Marinovich (a quarterback from the 90's for those non- (American) football fans out there). He was basically engineered from day 1 to be a super athlete (see the paragraphs below) and was very talented, but had a short-lived pro career and substance abuse problems. My question is this: we know now that even after an incredibly regulated upbringing, he still crashed and burned. But even if he HAD made it and become the stuff of legends, would it have been worth such an upbringing? Because it sounds pretty joyless to me. ***"What's fascinating about Marinovich, a 6'4½", 212-pound lefthanded redhead, is that he is, in a real sense, America's first test-tube athlete. He has never eaten a Big Mac or an Oreo or a Ding Dong. When he went to birthday parties as a kid, he would take his own cake and ice cream to avoid sugar and refined white flour. He would eat homemade catsup, prepared with honey. He did consume beef but not the kind injected with hormones. He ate only unprocessed dairy products. He teethed on frozen kidney. When Todd was one month old, Marv was already working on his son's physical conditioning. He stretched his hamstrings. Pushups were next. Marv invented a game in which Todd would try to lift a medicine ball onto a kitchen counter. Marv also put him on a balance beam. Both activites grew easier when Todd learned to walk. There was a football in Todd's crib from day one. "Not a real NFL ball," says Marv. "That would be sick; it was a stuffed ball." Meanwhile, Todd's mother, Trudi, worked on the region above the neck by playing classical music (lots of Bach and Beethoven) and jazz (plenty of George Shearing and Woody Herman) in his room. Cartoons were forbidden because they were too violent. Instead, Trudi tuned her son in to old movies like Hitchcock and Agatha Christie thrillers to spark his intellect. She dragged Todd along with his sister, Traci, now 21, to museums. To this day, when Trudi makes an unexpected turn in the car, Todd says, "Uh-oh, Mom's taking us to another museum."'****Midnight, I agree. It's a shame because he really did have a lot of talent and I think if his dad had, you know, let him be a kid and just play catch in the back yard he actually COULD have been something great. But I'd be burned out too if I had been raised like that. moreResolved Question: Seeing shadows at home.?
I am asking to see if this is common, My girlfriend has been seeing shadows and spirits her whole life, in her dreams usually asking to send a message for them to their loved ones after they have died. Or while awake just passing by or running around. Recently she has seen Shadows of children running around the house it was not our kids. I have seen shadows too of a man in a top hat, almost Jack the Ripper-ish and a young boy who's with him out while walking in the streets and at home. Well i was wondering what can we do to see if maybe we are "sensitive" to spirits and what can we do or what does it mean when she saw children's shadows running, also during our children's birthday party while setting up the birthday cake something touched her shoulder and called her name in her ear but no one was around her. Her mom sees shadows too and sees people in her dreams asking for things. Please be respectful because I now we are not crazy or schizophrenics. moreResolved Question: How to help my son stop smothering other kids?
We only have one son and he needs some help on social skills when around other kids. He is 4 years old. He is a very quiet kid and has no conflicts with other kids. The problem I'm seeing is that he targets other kids based on their personality and follows them around a playground and demands their full attention. When he's in a place where all the kids are strangers to him he is attracted to the most active kid. He likes to be around kids that are the opposite of him. He's quiet so he goes after the most hyperactive of the kids. This is no problem and they get along very well for about 5 minutes but since he follows them around and demands so much attention from them they end up rejecting him. Yesterday my son was at a birthday of a preschool schoolmate of him and he followed the birthday boy around the place and they were having fun but the other kid just had enough of my son and wanted to play with other kids and told him to stop following him around. He even pushed my son so he would understand he didn't want to be followed but my son didn't get why the other kid was pushing him and telling him to stop following him. I explained to him how the other kid felt and why he behaved that way but he doesn't understand why another kid would ever want to stop playing. He continued to do so even after I explained and ended up crying and came to me telling me the other kid didn't like him. After a while, he saw another of his school buddies who was playing with another kid and they called him to join to play with them. This time it was time for the cake and he was seated with the other two kids that invited him to join them. He was again demanding too much attention from one of them and didn't allow him to talk to the third kid in the group. I noticed the other kid was getting uncomfortable and I called him aside and explained that he needs to play with all the kids in the room and give the other kid some space. He understood what I was saying but told me there were no other kids next to him to talk to. My wife says that we should not interfere and let him figure it out on his own but I feel like we need to coach him because they will keep rejecting him and I don't want him to get frustrated. I know that since he's our only child we give him too much attention and he expects the same from other kids. Does anybody have any suggestions on what we should do if anything to coach him on social skills? moreResolved Question: my 21 month old son is out of control!! Help!!?
thanks in advance for reading this... it will be EXTREMELY LONG!! im a 21 year old with 2 boys older son is 21 months and younger son is 5 weeks old. i am a stay at home mother and my husband works full time. my 21 month old son seems to be out of control. He hardly listens when i say no!!.. we went to my younger cousins 5th birthday party today and my son was just out of it. when we arrived there were a bunch of kids sitting in the lounge room watching hi 5. i told my son to sit down and take his shoes off and watch tv like the other kids. He did as told for about 2 minutes then he got up and started to turn off the tv and play with the dvd player and sound system i told him no and he stopped. When i turned my back he started again so my mother took him outside and fed him some dinner. After dinner he came inside again and did the same thing also this time playing with the house phone wen told no he would still do it this time he wouldnt back away we had to grab him and take him outside to where myself and other adults were sitting so i could keep an eye on him. i told him to sit down which he refused and kept trying to go back inside and play with the tv. there were plenty of other kids but he didnt even look at them he didnt want to seem to play with them even his own uncles and aunts (who are 5 and 10) and he knows them well. then it came to cake time!! everybody elses kid stood around and sang while mine was trying to poke at the cake and steal the cutlery to play with!! as everyone got a slice of cake they all sat down next to their mothers and ate but my boy was running around touching things AGAIn and my grandmother was chasing him around and feeding him and telling him to sit down (i was feeding bub). i feel so embarrased everyone was just looking at my son as a spoilt brat and loooking down on me so badly. im at the verge of crying right now!! wen i gave birth he had my mother, brother, dad, grandmother and plenty of my aunties coming over daily to look after him for about 2 weeks and his behaviour was just so bad he didnt listen to anyone didnt eat and would chuck a fit!! before this he never would have a fit!! i know bcoz he wasnt the only one in the house anymore but once i was better and didnt need other people over daily he started to return to his normal self again. but since about 2 days ago he has started to act like he did when i gave birth i even managed to teach him to say thank u and where rubbish goes but now all that is gone!!.. i know he touched things at the birthday party bcoz our house is pretty much 80% baby proof and everything is out of reach so he would have been excited to touch.. i mean we have a gate to block him off from the kitchen and every few days he gets in there he is so happy. he also likes to play with remotes and phones and things so now when im done using these things i put them up high out of his sight to avoid any tantrums.. i have him on a waiting list at a early learning centre for when he turns 2 but now im going to look at other places he can go to. to learn to share and play with other kids his age. also earlier today we went to the mall and he had a tantrum to get out of the parm so we let him loose and he was so happy to be running around i mean i cant blame him i wouldnt want to be locked up either so i was discussing with my husband that every 2 weeks we should take him to the kids play land so he can play with other kids and take any frustration from being at home all week out at the play land.. does this seem like a good idea??.. No harsh comments please im stressed out and upset as enough as it is!! any advice suggestions would be great!! thanks againi do smack him on the hand wen i can in time before he gets to things but i dnt want to it lead further into anything else... and no the hand smacking doesnt help he will cry for about 2 secs and he's off again!! moreResolved Question: Do you think this is a true story?
This is a true story. Last week was my 40th birthday and I really didn't feel like waking up that morning. I managed to pull myself together and go downstairs for breakfast, hoping my wife would be pleasant and say, "Happy Birthday!", and possibly have a small present for me. As it turned out, she barely said good morning, let alone "Happy Birthday." I thought... Well, that's marriage for you, but the kids... They will remember. My kids came trampling down the stairs to breakfast, ate their breakfast, and didn't say a word to me. So when I made it out of the house and started for work, I felt pretty dumpy and despondent. As I walked into my office, my secretary Joanne said, "Good Morning Boss, and by the way Happy Birthday!" It felt a bit better knowing that at least someone remembered. I worked in a zombie like fashion until about one o'clock, when Joanne knocked on my door and said, "You know, it's such a beautiful day outside, and it's your Birthday, why don't we go out for lunch, just you and me." I said, "Thanks, Joanne, that's the best thing I've heard all day. Let's go!" We went to lunch but not where we'd normally go. Instead she took me to a quiet bistro with a private table. We had a couple of mixed drinks and I enjoyed the meal tremendously. On the way back to the office, Joanne said, "You know, It's such a beautiful day... We don't have to go right back to the office, do we?" I replied with "I suppose not. What do you have in mind?" She said, "Let's go to my apartment, it's just around the corner." After arriving at her apartment, Joanne turned to me and said, "Boss if you don't mind, I'm goinna to step into the bedroom for just a moment. I'll be right back." "Ok." I nervously replied. She went into the bedroom and, after a couple of minutes, she came out carrying a huge birthday cake... Followed by my wife, my kids, and dozens of my friends, and co-workers, all singing "Happy Birthday". And I just sat there... On the couch... Naked. moreResolved Question: Sims 3 Question about babies?
In my game I do not enable aging, because I like my Sims, I put a lot of work into them and I like to skip around from house to house... I usually have career oriented sims so they don't have kids very often, but I started having some babies born... but with the aging disabled will they stay babies forever? How can I get them to progress to toddler etc... I know about the birthday cake... but I does that work for kids? do I have to enable aging temporarily to get the kid to a point where they can blow out the candles? anyone else disable aging? moreResolved Question: Birthday party ideas?
I already have a theme picked out, Rainbow, and have a few ideas for different things. But I'm having a hard time finding many ideas. I'm going to make a rainbow cake, for those who know what that is. And found a good idea for the goody bags, instead of rice krispies, use fruity pebbles, and make a marshmallow treat. And skittles too. Was thinking about melting down old crayons to make a rainbow kinda ones for the bags too. And found a few ideas for decorations and for food, just doing finger foods, cause the party is from 2 to 4. I'm looking for ideas on every aspect, even ones I said I already had figured out. So please help me out. Also, while games would be fun, most of the kids will only be as old as 4. My daughter is turning 3. Give me some ideas, please and thanks! moreResolved Question: I just need to vent a little.?
My daughter will be 16 in December and she's asked me since last year if she could have a "Sweet 16" party. She's had a couple of birthday parties but with her birthday in December half her friends couldn't come. You know we can't afford a gift for her since it's in December and that's when Christmas is. So she's had a ruff time with birthdays. She can't help when she was born. It was just meant to be. It gets better..her older sisters birthday? Well it's the day after hers! God for bid that I had to have two in December, Any way. Since she's going to be 16 I figured it would probably be a lot easier getting her friends to come. She posted on her facebook that we were already planning her party and she's had 20 kids already asking if they could come. WOW I was surprised. Yeah, I'm planning it now. I have to find a place to have all those kids. She has a theme. Don't freak out about the name of the theme. It's just the name. The theme is "RAVE". She wants the neon lights and stuff that would be fun for them. She wants a cake that has the three different layers that look different but match. Well I found a place that works with my budget. Where I wanted to have it is going to cost $600 for 5 hours, plus a $75 cleaning fee, plus a $60 set up fee. Every where I look the cost of these places are so high priced! I mean $600? For a room? The place I found is nice. It's brand new and it was only $150 for 4 hours. No extra fees. I only had to put up a KEY deposit that I'll get back after the party. The problem is the place is really a bit to small. Not by much but it's too small. I don't know what I'll do. I don't want her disappointed. And I surely don't want her friends to walk in and go, OMG HOW LAME! I feel like I've been hit with a truck! I can put up tables for them to sit an eat or I can put up some tables, or no tables. I'm afraid there won't be enough room for them to dance or move around if I put enough tables for everyone to sit. I was doing the food myself and having the cake made. So I still need a couple of tables for the food to sit out on. This is going to be so awful it I can't get this worked out. Some of the kids are still going to be 15 and will need their parents to bring them and pick them up so I don't want it to be out of their way. I'm trying so hard to find a place in my area that's big enough for them all. I just want this to be the best party ever for her. Yeah, yeah yeah, there's 2 girls I really want to show up too. I know, I know, I know it's wrong. But evertime my daughter says she like something they try to beat her out so they can say she copied them. Like back last year she asked me if she could get her nose priece. It's small so I said yes. Tell me if one of the girls didn't rush to go get her's first just so she can tell my daughter she copied her. It's like that all the time. It makes my daughter feel like crap. So I want to really do this right. I sure hope I can find a place that's nice and affordable. I'm almost afraid to call any of the other places due to they cater to big wedding and lakes out front with big green lawns! I can't imaging the cost! Yeah I have to stay in budget no matter that I want to show up those girls or not. She has 60 people she's inviting and I'm sure all won't come but just in case they do I still need to make sure there's room for them all and plenty of room to dance. Lord what am I to do! moreResolved Question: Will things only get better or can they get worse?

He is being such a hypocrite lately. My mom died when I was 10 (almost 7 years ago). In September he got his first girlfriend since my mom's death. She is very nice and everything, but it's just weird anyway. At first it was great because he always spent the night at her house on weekends and I could just go out and get drunk or stoned or whatever (don't be so quick to judge, I rank first in my class of over 300 kids, I keep my priorities straight). My dad has been out of work for about 4 years and hasn't done much to even look for a job. Every day he takes the dog for a walk in the morning, then comes home, reads the paper and eats breakfast, and hangs out with his girlfriend. That's his life. Sometimes I do not know how we get by financially- I make about $3,000 a year and that's more than my dad makes. And all I do is sell pastries on Saturday mornings. He doesn't do dishes and then gets mad when we (my 14 year old brother and I) don't put ours in the dishwasher immediately. He only takes out the garbage in his room on trash day and gets mad if we do the same. He is never home to talk because he is always with his girlfriend, then gets mad when I have my iPod in while doing homework because he can't have a conversation with me. And it's not just my brother and I noticing this- these two couples who are best friends with my dad have said things to my brother and I (one told my brother that my dad has been ignoring us more, one told me, "Your dad and his girlfriend are gross. They were making out constantly at the Sharks game. She's nice, but they don't know their PDA limits."). I love cake decorating and I'm quite good at it. For my friend's birthday (tomorrow), I made a cake with a chocolate butterfly set on top of roses. I was really excited to show my dad and all he said was, "I thought you would put two butterflies on it." I just gave him a disappointed look and then he got all pissy at me and said I was rude. I spent 3 hours on the cake. He is driving me up the wall, but if I say anything I know he will get all defensive. moreResolved Question: Kids Growing Up Too Fast.?
Yesterday, i took my 10 year old sister out into town because she wanted to spend her birthday money, (i'm 19) btw, and she wanted to bring along 3 of her friends so anyway i let her, i was discusted the way they were dressed. My sister was dressed like a normal 10 year old, and her friends were dressed in short skirts, half way up there asses, (not missable) Short low cut tops, and by the looks of it one of them looked as if the stuffed her top out with tissue paper......but i'm not sure. They were also wearing heels, which i was worried about because i didnt want them to slip and break there necks, they were also caked in foundation and eyeliner. I just think kids today are turning into little whores.my question do u think kids are growing up too fast? moreResolved Question: 3 Year Old Birthday Party games is this enough to keep them entertained?
My son is turning 3 in two weeks. He's having a Disney Cars theme for his party as well as having invited about 12 other children his age or a year older to come to the party. It's only going to be 2 hours long from 2-4 because I don't want the hassles of lunch with little ones who can be uber picky. I want to make sure that everyone has a good time and wanted to know if this sounds like a reasonable plan for a 3 year old party done at home : The adult family and any parents of kids who are invited that wish to stay will be outside on our back patio area with cold drinks and simple finger food type snacks. It's warm where we are so the weather has always been good this time of year for doing things outside. My husband's birthday cake (his birthday is the day before my son's party) will also be outside for the adults to cut into and share when we do the cake and ice cream part of the party. Most of the adults in the past that have been at my son's parties usually just enjoy sitting and visiting anyway without any added entertainment. I will probably set up the laptop somewhere outside with a slide show of my son since family members like to see that every year and people that want to watch it can and people that don't just don't have to look and can visit instead. I was also thinking of putting a couple of cars stickers on the bottom of a few plates that the adults will be using and give out some door prizes for the adults at the party (most likely copies of the cars soundtrack on CD or some kind of auto accessory like car air fresheners or no spill mugs for the car) The kids (ages 3-4) will be in our playroom area that will be transformed into Radiator Springs complete with desert look (brown tarp draped over the toy shelves, train table and my piano that are in there) and fake cactus (from green poster board) and the big size cars characters on the wall using a scene setter from a party store. I'm planning on doing some games for the kids that fit the theme of the party - tractor tipping with Tow Mater (bowling with 2 liters that will have labels replaced with tractor cut outs), tire toss with Luigi and Guido ( inflatible swim rings tossed at a target), pass the oil can (with Sarge and the hippie van character) which will be like hot potato but instead of someone being out they get a small treat if they have the oil can, silly string for after the cake and ice cream to go outside with in the back yard to celebrate the "piston cup". I also have a cars theme coloring mat with the crayons and things like that for the kids to do as a floor activity when they first arrive. I'm also doing Piston Cup shaped name tags for the kids that they will get as they become part of the "pit crew" as they arrive. (I'm only doing name tags because my son invited two sets of identical twins to his party and it will be easier on me to look at a name tag than to keep going "who are you" through the party or using the wrong name on the wrong twin. With everyone wearing them and being part of the "crew" it doesn't single anyone out and it makes them all part of the theme and party right away). We also have a cone shaped play tent that is orange that I will have out for kids to play in and that I'll hang a sign over that says "COZY CONE MOTEL" near a wall size picture of Sally from the cars movie. I also have a rug that has roads on it with a bucket of matchbox cars that I'll have out for the kids to play with while we wait for everyone to arrive. Cake and icecream cups will also be part of the party day as well. I just want my son's day to be super special and fun for him and his friends as well as fun for the adults. He has both girls and boys coming to the party and for the girls I found the girl characters from Cars to put in their party bags and to have up as well as the main boy characters from the movie so they can have fun too. All the games are no winners or losers and everyone will get a treat after each just for playing as I want this to be for fun and not about competition of winning and losing for a birthday party setting. My question being: Should this be enough so that everyone has a good time at the party with things themed around what they like to do for the guests of all ages?? I always start worrying going into the week or so before the party that I've forgotten something or that someone is going to not have a good time (which I know I can't control) or that more should have been organized for the kids to do to fill up the time- especially since this is going to be preschoolers who need lots of different things to occupy them for a party since I don't see some of the activities lasting very long.. moreResolved Question: How long are cake balls good for?

Her husband has been laid off along time. She doesn't work. Early February was my friend's daughter's birthday and I bought her a gift. Mid February was her son's bday. I did not buy a gift bc I was waiting until they had a cake for him. That never happened and I forgot all about it. That's life. Now, after all this time she emails me. Says "you had asked what you can get Nick and he wants a movie gift card". Now, I never asked because Ive stopped asking bc her answers are usually more than I wish to spend. Also, I dont mind buying him a gift now. I am annoyed with the email and also annoyed she asked for a movie gift card. Well it REALLY sucks having a birthday on a Sunday. I want to go to a waterpark or something fun like that but I can't since I have school the next day. I'm having my friend party on Saturday night. I can either have my whole family over and celebrate my birthday and easter on the same day, or we can have our usual easter get-together the next week and just celebrate my birthday with cake. Not sure if I want 20 people at my house including 3 bratty kids to celebrate my birthday... is there something I could do for fun besides a party? moreResolved Question: She told me what gift to buy, help, need advice please.?

I have an 11 mo. old who will be 1 on Wednesday. We don't know anyone at all who has little kids his age that live near us. It'll just be me, my hubby, our 24 month old, & the birthday boy. I plan on taking him to get pictures done and I wanted to bake him a special cake & blow up some balloons to play with. This just doesn't seem good enough and I'm so sad that I can't do or think of anything else to do for my little boy on his special day. I know he won't remember and we can enjoy recording and pictures, but I don't know. We have plans to visit the zoo/aquarium or whatever but that can't happen until later on in the year. My son is 2 years old and I'm a SAHM. My husband works quite long hours, but is an active father when he's home. Because he doesn't do much with our son in the week, he does quite a bit at the weekend. I'm at college on Saturday mornings and on Sundays he'll get up so I can sleep in. Neither of us have a problem with this, but we're always getting cr@p from my family because of it. I recently had a huge fight with my sister because I left my son in his dad's care while I slept. We were all staying at my parents and I'd been up late the night before finishing the cake for my Grandfather's 90th birthday, I was exhausted. And she's not the only one. My mum came in on the Sunday morning (my hubby was already seeing to our son) saying 'do you know the time? It's 8.30!!!' as if it was utterly obscene. A few weeks later my hubby went to see my Grandfather while I was at college and my aunt said to him she has no problem with him looking after our son, but that I should be up too! Seriously... what the hell? As far as I'm concerned, that's an insult to my husband's parenting. Neither my sister or my aunt has kids - my sister thinks she knows everything though, because she babysat a bit as a teenager. *rolls eyes*. How can I get them to back off? We're not bad parents but they seem convinced we are! moreResolved Question: Whats a birthday good cake, What cake did you have as a kid, or still have? x?
Birthday cake speaking? My birthday is soon :) x moreResolved Question: baby shower disappointment (very long)?
My SIL is pregnant and I was really excited about throwing a baby shower for her. Now all I can think is why? My husband's brother's wife and I were going to throw one together for our SIL. My MIL happened to be there when I brought up the topic and she mentioned that she wanted to do a Going Away party for my BIL who is leaving for the Army the same weekend that I wanted to do the baby shower. My MIL and husband's brother's wife decided that it would be a great idea to just combine both the baby shower and the Going Away party. I think this is the worst idea ever. I was hoping to have just females and kids since I know none of the guys want to babysit. Now it will be all the relatives. This is close to 50 people in a small house. My SIL doesn't care as long as she gets her gifts. I know I shouldn't care since none of them seem to care but I can't help but be disappointed. I wonder why none of them care at all. Now I don't even know how to go about planning games. Most of the women can't read or write in English or our native tongue. The men will take over the living room which leaves all the women crowded in the kitchen which is also where all the food will be so people will be coming and going. The only games I can think of is guessing how big my SIL's tummy is and guessing how much candy/items are in a jar. Most of the women are old and I know they'll be too embarrassed to do much because of the men present. If you know of any other games I can possibly do, please say so. I want to make the best of the situation. Keep in mind the limited room. Most of us will be standing since the kitchen is small. Another thing, I happened to mention that my husband wanted to do our son's birthday that weekend too but I didn't want to do a birthday party period. My husband's brother's wife thought it would be a great idea to do my son's birthday along with the baby shower and the go away party. I tried telling her no nicely but she said it's not a big deal since all we need is a cake for him. I only have one child, how can it not be a big deal? My son IS a big deal to me. I couldn't believe how inconsiderate she sounded when she told me it wasn't a big deal. I was seething inside but I just smiled and told her No. I raged about it to my husband and even he doesn't like the idea. Would you agree to doing a birthday party for your child along with a baby shower and a go way party? My son is turning 2. Last year we had a big party for him and I was told by my husband's brother's wife that I should have had a smaller party because he won't remember it any way. It's hard to throw a small party when we come from such big families.Blu, I'm glad I'm not your wife too. Your children, if you have any, may not be important to you but my son is very important to me. My SIL doesn't care about the baby shower. She just wants presents. She is only 18. I am not sure she knows what she wants. For example, I asked what would she like to eat for her baby shower and she wanted to know why it mattered. The shower will be at the end of this month. It is still cold outside. There aren't any music or dancing at our family gatherings. We are Asian. Our family gatherings consist of men eating first, then children, then the women. Then the men sit around and talk while the women clean. After that, everyone goes their own way. It's like that at all of their parties. The only times they stay are when they want to gamble. In that case, they gamble all night long. moreResolved Question: how do you celebrate birthdays?
so i turned 21 this past saturday!! yay!! lol everyone who knew said "finally 21!! party it up" HAHA lol i spent my day at the park with my 2 boys and my little niece (who is basically my 3rd kid since we have custody of her!) and had a nice picnic there. afterwards we went shopping for my neice (i can finally buy little girl stuff) lol in the evening we went to applebees where i was FINALLY able to order a margarita (that i didnt even finish for fear about breastfeeding) then went to my moms house for cake and ice cream that my 3 year old helped her make then my mom offered to babysit so my hubby and i could go see a movie!! ooo yea really partied it up....LOL :-) i would have it NO other way!! how do you mommies celebrate birthdays?? moreResolved Question: Is this good enough, it sucks that leap year is every four years, but is it good enough?
My husbands birthday was on February 29th. It is so sad. His parents are divorced and his mother celebrated his birthday every 4 years and his Dad celebrated it on the 28th. Is this fair that his mother wanted him to be born on that date, he was 10 weeks pre-mature and he gets a birthday every four years? According to his mother, he will be celebrating his 8th birthday in 4 years, which I think it is sad. We are getting married in March, and I think it is sad, the way his mother treats him with gifts. His Dad, is the best. When I am with his brothers and sisters and half sibling and step siblings, who ALL live with his Dad, they make me feel like I am in Cheaper By The Dozen or 19 Kids and Counting or Yours Mine and Ours. They are so loving. Especially his step-mother. She is happy and they are like the best family, ever. They are like normal parents and they give birthday gifts every year, not every four years. His mother abused him by verbal, his mother just hates him. I am not serious, she even admitted it. She has a good job, she is not poor, she can afford birthday gifts all the time! She had my husband when she was 14, she is 42 years old! She has a good retirement plan and she had rich parents, who gave her a lot of money. She still refuses to care for my husband and love him. Is that sad ^? Well this year, he wants to forget about his mother and focus on other things. Tonight, we will have a special dinner. I will take him and we will eat with nobody, last night we had a family birthday dinner (and we had a ball/fun time). And I am getting him 2 puppies. I found both at the pound for free, they were cute, they are different breeds, person at pound said they get along great! They will be 8 weeks old today, and I cant wait! We will go to church at 2:00 pm, we will change once we are home and pack up. I am taking him to the beach for 5days, where the pound is located. We will leave the house at 4:30 pm. We will go to a fancy restaurant in fancy clothes at 5:30 pm, while on road. We will eat and have a small cake for dessert. Then we will arrive at the beach condo at 9:30 pm and enjoy a few days. The condo is his Dads so no money :). Road Trip is like $400 and dinner will be $100, but we are fine. I had a budget of $1,500. I got a little extra money at work, so I made it his gift. We will open a gift I got him in the condo and have some whine. Then we will change in PJ's and watch a movie or play video games. Then we will just enjoy 5 days of the beach, we will walk on the beach, take some photos for the wedding, relax, go mini golfing and go to an arcade. We will also go rock climbing and do fun/romantic/interesting things. We will mostly be inside and enjoy the sun set. Then on Friday, we will leave. I will tell him we will have time to look at the pound for an hour or two and we go in. We go to see the English Bull Dog (female) and the Puggle (female) and I will tell him it is ours. He will flip out and get them. We will keep on driving and stop at a Pet Smart, buy supplies and all. Then on Saturday, the next day, at night, he will do a work thing from 3:00 pm- 6:00 pm Then he will come home at 7:00 pm, then we will have a surprise party. I spent about $1,500 on this WHOLE thing and it was my extra money. I bet he will do something special for my birthday, and we might make a baby on the way. Please dont call me spoiled. It is our extra wedding money that we had for the budget of the wedding, the extra honey moon money, the extra work money from work, and some money I saved just for him. I have seen my friends who spent like $4,000 on their husband/wifes birthday. My friend, got her husband an ice sculpture, that would melt in like 3 days or less, for $5,000. Oh, and it was, like a small sculpture. I just build memories for my husband for his birthday, and make up some years his mother ruined for him! moreResolved Question: Tell me all about your little one's FIRST birthday?

Last Sunday was my 21st Birthday so I wanted to go out at 12:00 on saturday. My mother watched my son so I could go out i dropped him off at 11p.m. and went out that night. She never gave me a time to pick him and anytime shes ever watched him over night I get him right around lunch time. Shes perfectly fine with that. I woke up to her calling my cell phone and slept later then normal. When I answered she said what the fuck are you doing?! I said sleeping...Shes like what do you mean sleeping? I said I guess I over slept im sorry. She said to come get your fucking kid. My 7 year old neeces live with her and you can hear them in the background saying yeah because were going to the store. When I got to her house ( I only live two blocks away). Shes like you look like shit. Which really I didn't and shes like you need to get your drinking under control. I drink maybe once a month if that. She told me off and said I ruined her day because normally she goes to my grandmothers house on sundays and claimed it was to late to go now even though she normally goes there around 1:00 & stays till 6. and it was 1:00 when I picked him up. I later found out from my cousin & aunt that she never planned on going there because my cousin just had a baby and she thought my neece might have pink eye and didnt want them around the baby. Really she just screamed at me because my 7 year old neece wanted to to go to the store right then and I wasn't there yet to pick him up. After my mom screamed at me my neece kept screaming and cussing at me to get out of her house and was not corrected. My neece cuses at me all the time and days she hates me and hopes me and my son die.my mom never corrects her for it and i'm not allowed to say anything about it. I really love my neece & try being really nice to her so she knows I love her. Ever since she took in my neeces when I was 14 she acts like im not her child. She never went to any of of cheerleading games or matches. We use to spend time together shopping, going out to lunch, ect. I understood then and now why we might not do as much together because the girls are time comsuming. But the day of my birthday she never even told me happy birthday only that I ruined her day. I haven't had a birthday cake since I was 16 or 17. I can't remember the last time she told me she loved me or even that she was proud of me. And im a very mature young women I live on my own ..the most I ever ask of her to to watch him once in a while. I've tried talking to her about everything her answer is that im jealous of the girls or I need to stop feeling sorry for myself. But I'm not jealous I love them very much and am fine with my mom being so busy with them. I dont think I feel sorry for myself I'm just not understanding and am trying to figure why I'm upset. She hasnt talked to me since my birthday and i havent talked to her because im upset and don't want to argue about it or have her say something thats going to hurt my feelings more. Am i being dramatic or do moms stop telling you they love you and doing the birthday thing when you get older? Any advise on this or imput. Im just really confused...Shes always loves watching my son. He didn't even get up till around 10:00 so he was only awake for 3 hours. The problem isn't my baby I can tell you that much. She feels some type of way about me when I got there he was playing in his playpen perfectly content. Please stop giving me short answers that don't answer anything.actully bka your insane! I barley ever go out im home with my kid 7 days and week and work in his daycare! I dont party all the time. I went out one night and overslept on my birthday. yes i am an adult. & I do watch all the kids whenever she needs me to for her birthday I had them all weekend long. I offer to watch them. She likes cooking and baking thats why the cake thing is weird to me...but i could really care less. I dont understand why she didn't tell me happy birthday and why she doesnt tell me she loves me. she hasnt told me that since middle school if even then. I wasn't an adult in middle school. moreVoting Question: My 12-month old hates food, help!?
My little boy just turned a year yesterday. He has a serious aversion to "people food". The icing on the cake (ha, ha) was when we offered him a cupcake to go at for his birthday and he turned away, cried, shoved our hands away when we brought it even remotely close to him. He will eat stage 2 fruits, and gerber puffs. That is it. He doesn't even actually LIKE the fruits, it's more that he tolerates it and will eat it if distracted enough. We don't force anything on him, we don't make eating time a battle, we are always excited and positive about food. We have tried every form of giving him food (small pieces, big pieces he can hold, on a spoon, in a bowl, on our plates, you name it) but he refuses to even try it. He always turns his head, spits and sputters, and pushes it away. Has anyone had a kid be THIS picky so early? It's not even a matter of pickiness though because he hasn't actually tasted 95% of things we have offered them, he will not put it in his mouth. Do you have any suggestions on how to convince him that food is a good thing?? moreVoting Question: GUYS, HELP! what do you get a guy for his bday?
This kid & I have been hanging out for over two weeks. We are just friends, but he's been here like every night. well, his birthday is on the 8th & I don't know what to get him. I got him a card so far & I'm baking him a cake. but what else should I get him, help. moreResolved Question: Why do most parents give their children sweets at such young ages?
I'm just thinking about stuff like 'Babies first birthday' photos most parents have. With their kid in a highchair with cake all over its face. Or other circumstances where very young children are given cookies, chocolate or pop I'm wondering why is that? Why introduce children to unhealthy things so young? Why not wait a few years? moreVoting Question: Where can i get a jonas brothers picture?
okay, no smart allic comments. its for my kid sisters birthday cake. the cake place wants a COPYRIGHTED picture of them. therefore i cant just print one off of google. so...help? plz? moreResolved Question: Where can I find an inexpensive table and chairs to seat a bunch of 2-year olds for pizza / cake?
We are celebrating my daughter's 2nd birthday at home with six of her friends. I'd like to find a way to seat all the kids when we have pizza and cake, rather than having them all running around my house when it's time to eat. Where can I find an inexpensive table of a juvenile height that would serve the purpose and eventually be stored away for future use? moreResolved Question: If I don't have a birthday party for my kids this year, is that bad?
My 2 daughters are 11 months apart, so we celebrate their birthdays together. This year I don't really want to have a party for them. They will be 2 and 3 years old. My family and my husband's family are all about an hour away, they are all going through stuff right now and we all aren't very close. I was thinking about just having a cake for them, and giving them their gifts from me and my husband and grandma and grandpa and taking some pictures at home. We would probably take them somewhere like to a kid's place to have fun (we do all the time anyways). There is some drama with some family members, they drink a lot, and I just don't feel the family love. If we were a close family, I'd be more than happy to have a party but I know that most of them don't want to go to one anyways. Would it be bad if I did it this way? moreResolved Question: Any ideas for crafts to do at a kids birthday party?
Ok so my daughter is tuning 4 and the theme will Tinkerbell. We're having cake pizza and a pinata for her. Also I will have two tables set up one for boys and the other for girls so the girls theyll have a nail station and coloring pages and making friendship bracelets. I think thats enough. But for the boys i cant think of anything. they will have pirate coloring pages but thats it. I need two more crafts for them to do. Nothing complicated cause there small children too. Any ideas will help. Thanks. moreResolved Question: Why name a child Adolf Hitler?
"The US parents of a toddler named Adolf Hitler are angry after a shop refused to inscribe his name on a birthday cake." http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_3124774.html?menu=news.quirkies I mean, the kid is going to have severe problems while they grow up, let alone once they are an adult. moreResolved Question: Daughters 1st Birthday Party - How long should it be?
I'm planning my daugther's 1st birthday party for mid April. I'm torn as to how long this party should be since it's mostly for the adults anyways. I was originally thinking 12noon-3pm. Is that too short of a time frame? Should I make it 12noon-4pm? I was originally thinking from 12-1 we'd all mingle, 1-2 the clown could entertain the older kids and the adults can eat, then from 2-3 we open our daugthers presents and eat cake/dessert. What do you all think? We we need an extra hour in there or no? BTW, my daugther will be going down for a nap at 3pm or there abouts, so that could be a good time for the adults to catch up. What do you all think? moreResolved Question: 1st Birthday Party - How long should it be?

My husband and kids and I are eating mostly raw and all healthy foods AND only organic, too. But, my whole family is going to a restaurant and we are going, too. What do I do??? The menu is pre-ordered so we can't pick out what we want...it's all going to be on the table already. Plus, we wouldn't do that anyway because their food isn't organic. So, what is the best way to do this? Bring our own food and eat when everyone else eats? Or eat beforehand and just bring foods to snack on throughout the meal? I would just come at dessert time, but it's a suprise birthday and we have to be there when it starts, so we will be there for the whole meal and dessert as well. Also, should we bring our own "healthy desserts" for our kids so that they don't feel like they are left out at cake time? I don't want to compromise what we are doing and what our beliefs are...so that is not an option. I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced this, what did you do? And what is your opinion of doing this in the most polite way...as not to say, Oh you're food is disgusting and we just don't eat that gross food. You know what I'm trying to say??? Thanks for your help!!! moreTop Kids Birthday Cakes Links
