Open Question: What do you think of these ideas for tattoos?

I'm bored so I thought I'd get some people's opinions. First of all I have my fiance's finger prints on my shoulder and when we eventually have a child I'm going to get his or her hand print in the middle between the fingerprints. I'm going to get blue peacock feathers going down the back off my right thigh and starting a little bit on my bum. Three birds on my left tricep, two just the outline and one filled in with black ink to represent my friendships. The filled in bird is me and the outlines are of my two best friend. They are getting the same thing. I'm getting the outline of a pink heart over my heart for my wonderful sister that I love more than anything in the world (next month!), haven't decided yet if I should get a four leaf clover in the heart to represent our heritage and her birthday (St Patrick's day!). I am told that a very healthy baby girl was born today ~ a special baby who has as I know one terrific, gentle, intelligent, and very kind Great Aunt. Place is afar from my shores; but I do happen upon the view of the other side of the "pond" from time to time. The little girl has all the important 10 fingers and 10 toes; a family who loves her and a healthy Mother! She was born at 7:14 AM this morning; apparently came in under 8 lbs and measures at 54 cm. WOW! As a "man" I have to say I am quite amazed at just what women are able to do and then to tolerate "us" (the other species) is quite amazing! LOL! Open Question: 1st job, need advice and tips of any kind!?

this is kinda long. main thing is the questions below, hope u can help me :) hey! im 15, (16 on may 30th) and for about the last month i have been getting, filling out and giving back applications for places all over my town. i really want, and need a job for the summer. and i figured it would be a good idea for me to go out and start looking now, instead of when i turn 16. (that would be a waste of time! ) so after about,hum. 3 weeks i got a call! from Yankee candle in my local mall.and they wanted me to go fill out an application, and when i turned it in to the manager he said he is going to call me some time next week ( after the weekend) to schedule for the interview process. im keeping my expectations low...but not many people get called in and a positive way. i also know a girl who has worked there for 3 years. (but we are just acquaintances.) so my main questions are 1) what the hell is a interview process? do i go for more than 1 interview? 2) what kind of info should i know all about the company? 3) what kind of questions should i be prepared to answer? (for any interview) 4) should i look into getting a work permit since im underage, but a birthday very soon? and how do i get one in south Carolina? Hello all! Sorry this is so long but I have a lot of detail and it is a VERY important birthday... My grandma has made it to 90 with all her mental faculties intact and is surprisingly well off physically. Last September, she saved up and went on a cruse down to Cabo with a group from her retirement community... And 2 years before that she saved up again and went with her Community to Hawaii and rode in a helicopter over the islands! (Needless to say, her Retirement Community's Activity Director ROCKS and gets some rather spectacular discount "Group Packages" with her connections!) My grandma likes to have a Manhattan Cocktail or a Vodka Tonic when she goes out... The only thing is that she tires easily and uses one of those walkers with the hand breaks and the seat. She is flying in from Tucson to Chicago, where our family is from, for the party and my aunt hijacked the "Official" party and is doing some sort of "Formal" nonsense and is not taking anything my Grandmother actually wants in to consideration... LITERALLY, she is doing the party with what her 2-year relationship with a Muslim fu*k-buddy wants and not what GRANDMA wants... i.e. Is near THEIR condo, a half an hour drive out from where the rest of our family/friends live, no alcohol, everything served is Halal... etc. etc. etc. Last year he decided the party was to be at a Forest Preserve 5 min's drive from their house, in the middle of July, because they don't allow alcohol at the forest preserve and he thought that would stop people from drinking... (It Didn't) and it was so hot that most of her friends had to leave or suffer heat stroke. Yeah... freaking 90' out, humidity just suffocating, but we had to do what HE wanted because we all need to "Respect his beliefs" even though it was GRANDMA'S 89th BIRTHDAY! She is playing the martyr, as if WE forced her to do all of this on her own when she won't allow anyone else to voice an opintion on HER party plans... Even my grandmother. But I digress... We got the Cubs to put "Happy 85th Birthday" on the Wrigley Field Marquee for the Video I did for that b-day and we are hoping we can tell them it is her 90th and they will announce "Happy 90th!" over the loud speakers. 2. No matter what, we are doing this: We found a Tourist Company that does helicopter rides over the city... We can have up to 6 (I think off hand) in a helicopter that flies around the city for 45 min's. 3. I will borrow a friend's video camera to document the trip and then make a "Happy 90th" DVD for the whole family which includes the obligatory family photos, the video of the Helicopter Ride, the video of the Cub's Game, and the video of the "Official" 90th birthday party. The Helicopter Ride is like, $600.00 and I have no idea how much Cub's Tickets cost but if we get everyone to chip in, I know that we can pull it all off... A friend of ours says he "Knows Someone" that can help us out on the Cub's Tickets. Okay, so this guy and i started talking . He's 16 but he's in 8th grade. He failed once and he has a early birthday. I'm 15 and i'm in 10th grade. ok so i will have to tell you the hole situation, im a 14 yr old male and my best friend is a 14 yr old female. we have been best friends since we were in preschool. No it's not what your thinking, we don't like each other like that, or ever have, or probably never will. i love her, but only as my sister. we each date separate people. but that is not the point, the point is that her parents for some reason don't like me here lately. there are several possible reasons that i will discuss with you. possible reason #1: they are repeatedly telling her how rap worships the devil, and we have tried to explain to them that country isn't exactly the savior if you know what i mean. (typical rednecks) (might i mention that we are from boston) (and moved down here to SC a long time ago) possible reason #2: my mom and my dad are very successful, my dad owns an incorporation, and sometimes her and i go there and file papers and what not. We usually bring home around $100 a day, and as of my mom, she is a neurological surgeon. i am spoiled and wont ever go back. i get every thing i want, and take note that i DON'T BRAG or rub it in any ones face. i am very understanding that most families are not as well off as mine. (possible jealousy) possible reason #3: with the way that our birthdays work out, she is in the 8th grade and im in the 9th grade , and as you know that's a big difference (middle-high)school. she has been getting in trouble in school ex. fights, electronics, smart mouth. she has mentioned that her papa(whom she stays with) says that i am a bad influence on her behavior. just because i happen to be a prep and im popular, don't mean that im not an all A student and the president of the high school, my freshman year... (woah...) that's big :) and we don't even go to the same school. don't see how that's possible, (her papa has made the remark that all popular kids turn out "deadbeats"??? there are several other factors and reason that are the small things like.... she would rather go on vacation with me than with her family, because we go on the same time, she can only go with one of us... he thinks it's some kind of crazy reason ... just simply that we go to all kinds of different places... please give me some suggestions on what i can do to help :) cuz i will always love my sister....just not her parents...........:::))))) more

Open Question: Teachers, what is the normal range for writing in kindergarten?

I had my parent teacher conference with my son's teacher yesterday and it is still bugging me. He is 5 and a half (started kindergarten 2 days after turning 5) but the age range of the class is 5 and a half (my son a two girls have birthdays the same week) to 7 (three students are already 7). My son is smart and the teacher sees that (doing 3rd grade math and reading) but here is what really bugs me: My son and I sit at the table and are going over his writing samples. They have improved greatly (he went through a Mr. Sloppy stage because someone made fun of him for knowing more than him) and have gone from 1 sentence to 4 sentences when telling a story. He writes half pages at home but I understand why he doesn't do his best at school. Her comments: That is good but next time add a sign in the picture or write the name of the apartment house. You told me about the building but not inside your apartment. Tell me more about your room or how many rooms there are. assignment: (describe what you like to do) I love star wars clone wars. I build star wars with my legos. I love my legos and have lots of them. Her comments: You didn't tell me what you like to build or where you build them. Tell me more next time. It went on and on like that with all of his writing samples (10 in all) and ranged from what I have here to telling him he has to not make up stories. Excuse me! It took me months to convince him that things can be whatever he wants them to be. It used to drive him nuts when I would draw a purple cow because cow's are not purple. Now he is very creative and uses that to build all sorts of things with his lego's and in his stories. She also said that not everyone in the class can write 4 sentences but that she knows he can so she only wants him to write 4 or more sentences from now on. Why the double standards?? This is so childish, I have no idea why I'm turning to Yahoo Answers, but it is the only way I feel I can get an unbiased opinion on what I need to be doing. Sorry for what seems like highschool drama. My boyfriend and I have been dating for a year. Within that you he introduced me to his friend and roomate Ed and we really seemed to hit it off at first. Over time he even proclaimed me his "best girl friend" other than his literal "girlfriend"... About three weeks ago everyone went out for Ed's birthday. I didn't go because I'm only 20 and most of the bars are 21 and up and I didn't want to put a damper on anyone's time. While they were out, my boyfriend Hunter called me to tell me what they were doing and that he missed me and wished I could be there. I heard Ed in the backround yelling "What the fuck man! Get off the phone with her, it's my birthday bla bla bla"...I was a little offended because all I did was answer the phone, and I thought Ed and I were friends, but I let it go. A few days later, Hunter told me that Eduardo's girlfriend Sarah said to him that he "deserved better than I was." and that Eduardo was on him about being "tired of our relationship." I didn't know how to react because I have never met people who interfer like that? I also had no idea what I'd done to make them feel that way. As far as I knew Hunter and I had a pretty healthy relationship, and Ed and I were "best friends"... Ed and Sarah found out that I knew what they said and things were weird for awhile. I wouldn't say nasty, but just not normal, as I think anyone who's friends "talked bad about them" would feel. We stopped talking to each other. We all saw each other again at a house party. I got a little drunk and approached Ed. Because he LIVES with Hunter, for the sake of my relationship I thought it would be good to be the bigger person. Later some more bullshit came out about him saying mean things behind my back, and trying to sway other people against me, he got others caught up in this drama, I will not waste your time talking your ear off. After that I sort of hounded Hunter to talk to Ed. He finally did and begged Ed to apologize to me as a favor. Keep in mind, I still have no idea what I ever did. WEEKS later Ed sent me a text message saying: "Listen, we both said a lot of things, and although I meant them, I am willing to look past it. I don't care if you think you're the victim in this or not. Do you feel you did nothing before or after you made Sarah cry? I am apologizing. Accept it or don't." Because I'm still hurt by it, I didn't ever officially "accept" it. I did hang out with him within a group last night. Seeing him and Sarah both made my body ache. I feel such betrayl from them. I did my best to grit my teeth and try to be as comfortable (which was nearly impossible) as possible. Tonight Hunter is having a "movie night" with Ed. I feel hurt by this. I feel like Hunter never really "put Ed in his place" the way he maybe should have. Judging on his actions (i.e. walking away while Ed cursed me out) it feels like this was never brought to justice. I'm not really asking Hunter to be mean to Ed, or to hate Ed, and I understand that Hunter lives with him, and I DO eventually want things to be normal, but right now my body will not allow for that, and until I am given some time to get over it, I wish he would stand behind me, and not be all buddy buddy with someone I consider to be somewhat of an "enemy"...Is that wrong of me to ask? Since I live here i should follow the rules. My grandmother pierced my nose when i was 5. SInce im the only one in my family to live here I dont have anyone to do it for me. I looked on ask and most people said that it was a horrible thing to do and was wrong and against the law. Is this true? Everyone in my family(female) had their nose pierced when they turned 5. My daughters birthday is in a month and my husband agreed that we should do it. But is there any place that can do it? I could do it myself if there is no place to do it. Open Question: Will it be ok to put a two year old under general anesthesia for dental work?

I just found out today that my almost two year old, 20 pound, daughter has to have oral surgery to try and save a chipped/rotted tooth and to cap and fill other teeth. We have always been diligent about brushing her teeth at least once a day and even tried to take her to a dentist but no one in the area would see her until after her 3rd birthday. Apparently she slightly injured her front teeth months ago when she hit her mouth on a table. I noticed slight discoloration but when the pediatrician never mentioned anything wrong I figured it was normal. Then weeks later she hit her right incisor with a heavy cup and chipped it in half. Thats when I decided it definably couldn't be normal. So today we took her two hours from home to the closest pediatric dentist and they said they would try and save the chipped tooth and then clean and fix all the other damage. Our two options are to keep her awake but strapped to a papoose board while they work for two 45 minute sessions (NO WAY on that one) Or to have her put under general anesthesia and have all the work taken care of at once. While this is the obvious way to go, I'm still scared and want to know the risks and or other people's experiences in similar situations. Help? more

Open Question: What does it mean to think about dying all the time after hurricane katrina?

I seen so many people die and dead during hurricane katrina. My grandma house was flooded and my family and I walked to the superdome. We saw a dead dude with his brain on the ground faced down. Then in the superdome, we seen a guy get shot and babies dying. People were getting raped and going crazy. The army food was nasty. I got a fever from being in that the dirty water for so long. My feet were swollen and sore. I had a dream a few months before that a woman choked a little girl and she got beaken to death by the kid's people and I saw it in the superdome the same exact way. I kept having nightmares in there and when we finally got out, I was so emotionally broken. I was getting into fights and getting in trouble at school. I tried to commit suicide after my uncle died a year after katrina and his funeral was in new orleans. I tried taking about 80 prescribed pills and drinking alcohol but it didnt work. I also cut "suicidal" on my arm and "die" on my hand. I was admitted into a mental hospital for about a week and got therapy and took anti depressants but stop taking them and going to therapy in sept. 2008. Ever since then, I've been thinking about dying. There was on dream where I was in the living room im in now and my mom was cleaning up talking to me and I was laying down then I just died. Like my soul went to hell. Then there was another dream on the death anniversary of my cousin which was a day after my birthday and there were two girls in twin beds and I was spending the night at their house and I shared a bed with them and all of a sudden, a spirit tired to grab me and I woke up. Then there was another dream where I got shot so many times. Sometimes I think about getting shot or coughing up blood or getting stabbed and going to the hospital. Or sometimes I think about killing bad people. Sometimes I have dreams of falling in the ground. Sometimes I think about committing suicide. Sometimes I feel like I need attention all the time. I stay inside most of the time but now that I have a boyfriend, I've been going to his house but sometimes when I cant hang with him, I get depressed and mad at him. Sometimes, I tried to starve myself and I've had eating disorders. Anorexia and bulimia. Sometimes I feel like spirits and demons are after me. I feel alone most of the time. The only time I feel ok is when I 'm around a positive person, mostly my boyfriend. Sometimes, I just feel like dying or getting hurt for people attention. more

Open Question: How to throw a classy party for an adult birthday on a tiny budget? (Los Angeles)?

My boyfriend's birthday is in a week, and I wanted to throw him an amazing party. Something classy/tasteful, for about 20-25 people (his guest list, which is the only thing he knows about the party). The problem is, I am broke and everything I have received back from places is way too expensive. The bowling alley wanted around $30/person, and the laser tag place (i thought i'd ask because it would be fun) was $400 for 2 games and a room for 2 hours! I'd prefer not to do it at home, because we live in a small apartment (plus my boyfriend lives here and I want to surprise him with the when, where, and what). I had even thought about renting the lounge area of our apartment complex (which is by the pol and community BBQ) and then getting food (which I can make), but making a nice spread for 25 people will probably get expensive too. I would like to spend under $150 (preferably much less). I don't want guests to have to bring things, but I'm OK with the guests paying for their individual stuff if it's out somewhere (but we are all students so it can't be too expensive either). There should be food and then some sort of activity or fun thing for guests to do. Right, Theres This Girl Who I Know Really Well. We Have a Lot In Common. We Both Love Camper vans (1960's), The Beatles, Alan Partridge, The Beach Boys. (And For Our Age This Is Weird As There Is No-One Else Like Us) We Have Similar Opinions On Almost Everything. Anyways I Was Going Out With Her Then I Started To Get Paranoid. This Other Boy Kept Hanging Around Her And I Got Worse And Worse Into A State Of Paranoia. Then For Three Weeks She Was Doing Things. First Week Was Her Best Friends Birthday, Second I Had A Cold And Couldn't Get Out Of The House. By The Third Week We Could Both See Each other And I Had Counted down The Days. Anyways A Few Weeks Pass And I Refuse To Talk To This Boy And Everyone Thinks I'm Being Out Of Order. So I Get The Courage To Talk To My Ex About It. So Now She Understands Why I Was Like That And We Still Get On Amazingly. We Also Both Blamed The Three Weeks Apart As We Could Hardly See Each other And Had Only Been Going Out Properly For About 1 And A Half Months Before That. I know there are people that are in a very tight spot and they are suffering in these economic times. I know that there are people who have very little. While I do have a lot of things. I am lucky. I won't act like I'm not. And I'm not spoiled. The only thing I ever actually ask for is a couple of dollars for some music I want to download. But next year I'm going to college. I sacrificed not going to a school I wanted, so I could go to a school near my family and still be with them. However, I need a car. There's just no way around it. I know I can't get one though. I am continuing to apply to different places to actually earn the money but no one will hire me. So now, I know not only did I sacrifice the whole college experience, but I can't even have a car. I'm going to get driven to college by my family. And I can't take public trans because I have to go on the highway to get to the school. So yeah. It will be my birthday soon and out of everything I could want, I want a car...I haven't asked for anything and I know I will not ask for that. My mom is a single mom, but she gives me everything she can. Ugh. It's not like I want a new car either. I want some old piece of crap that will get me from point A to point B. I'm not selfish. It just gets me a little bit upset that I see kids that don't deserve crap, who don't bother trying to work for the things they get, and they get everything. While I on the other hand try to do everything. Stand out academically, and it's like it is all for nothing. I just guess it seems unfair. I know, life is unfair, get over it. I guess I just needed to rant about it. Ha...I feel bad for being disappointed and yeah. That's what's bothering me out of everythingI have tried getting a job. I've applied to 15 places. Ok, so it was my birthday 2 days ago. However, I am going to have a birthday party on saturday. For my birthday, I booked a banquet hall for the first hour and then we are going bowling which I also booked ($100 in total). Okay, I didn't invite my ex-best friend because shes so mean to me. (ex. She called me fake since I have more friends on fb than her.) However, she's more popular than me.
