Resolved Question: Can I turn in my sister-in-law anonymously?

My sister-in-law is 26 and has two kids (5&2). My concern is with getting those kids in a better living arrangement; I'm not trying to be mean and snitchy to my SIL. She's a horrible mother. She's an alcoholic. She tries to hide her alcohol by hiding it in other drinks. For example, recently the whole family was gathered at my husband's parents' house & she bought a bottle of vodka (about 1 liter). She (by herself) downed the whole bottle in 2 days. I saw her pour it in coffee, soda, and juice. Everyone mentioned it. She'd then go out and drive (drunk). She tells the kids that no one likes them every time they misbehave. She gives them whatever they want to get them out of her way. She'll fill them up on candy & then fly off the handle when they get hyper. She doesn't tell them that she loves them. She just leaves without telling anyone and leaves her kids for the rest of the family to watch them. She does this often. She moved in with my in-laws for about 2 months. They paid her bills, helped her find a job, watched the kids, and then one day she packed up her stuff and moved out to go live with a married guy. That's all just background info. The whole family agrees that she's an awful mother and needs to get her act together. My MIL & FIL have both said they'd love to get the kids away from her, but they don't want her to hate them. Well, today on Myspace, she put up pictures of her letting her 5yo son drive in her lap. The captions were, "(kid's name) driving down Main St." and things like that. The background out the window was different in every picture, so I know the car was moving. He wasn't in a booster-seat. They weren't even wearing a seatbelt. Did she not pay attention when Britney Spears had her run-in with the law? If you were me, would you turn the pictures in to CPS or the police or something? more

People are so naïve. They all believe nothing bad will ever happen to them. My ugly greenish-yellow bag was filled to the brim with toiletries and clothes. I always over packed when it came to spending the night at someone’s house. “Amber!” Mom hollered from the kitchen. She waltzed over to the bottom of the stairs, her black heels clacking with every step she took. “Yeah?” I asked as I walked out of my bathroom and into the hallway. When I peered down the staircase I could see my mom clearly. She was wearing her “Race for the Cure” T-shirt that we got from that horribly long 3k race about a year ago with her classic black capris that she wore whenever she was about to work out. “Did you pack Morgan’s stuff up?” She inquired. “Ugh!” I moaned. Morgan was six years old. She could pack her own bag! After shoving the last piece of clothing into Morgan’s suit case, Mom started the car. I flipped through a couple of channels and watched Saw V until Brandon came in. When it was nearly midnight when he got on his awesome TiVo thing and turned it to a Chinese game show that I’d never heard of. Contestants had to go through a maze without getting caught by some “monster” They had to go through doors in the maze as fast they could so the “monster” wouldn’t get them, but some doors let to a drop off into water. If they fell into the water or got caught by the “monster” they lost. It was pretty funny and there were enough episodes to last all night, but I was getting tired and volunteered to go to bed. Brandon reluctantly agreed as we both clambered up the giant staircase. Aubrey’s light from her room shone under the door as I walked passed. Grabbing the knob, I swung the door open. Right in front of me was Morgan and Aubrey playing with Barbies. Angry, I commanded Morgan to get in her pajamas and go to bed. I did the same and crawled into Brandon’s bed. He had to sleep with his sister like I had to sleep with mine. There was only one problem. “The bed’s not big enough,” Morgan stated as she slipped into Brandon’s room quietly. “I can see,” I said as I rolled my eyes. ok i know children are wonderful and everything. imma try to make this as short as possible. the other night i was flipping through the channels and i stopped on the new station and this woman was talking about how a song by britney spears isn't appropriate......well really there are a lot of songs out there that aren't appropriate that i have heard worse on the radio....anywayz the song is called "if you seek amy" well if you don't know the song the title is actually spelling out F-U-C-K me. the guy(i think his name o'reilly or something) said he didn't get it ofcourse. she said would you want your kids singing to that song in the car? ha well there's some solutions here: 1.change the station 2.bring an ipod 3.put a cd in most like if they were to hear this song for the first time neither the parents or kids would understand what she's actually saying.....it took me a while to get it. i like the song, and just b/c they're are some kids around that shouldn't hear it doesn't mean we should all suffer. i guess we can only promote kid friendly things in this world from now on. i also like the song "i kissed a girl"......and someone came on here one time saying that's inappropriate for kids....o well get over it we can't live in some disney clean free world.i know some of all are going to say well she's a mom and shouldn't be singing that kind of stuff well a bunch of celeb parents do........and im not concerned about her personal life anyway more

An event that happened yesterday made me realize how awful drinking is.I recently broke up with the father of my twins and i am really stressed.We were best friends but i had a drinking problem whic he stated led him to cheat on me.I am really upset that he did this which drove me to drink more. I find myself calling him up when i'm drunk and cursing him out/telling him i love him.He stated that he wants to work it out but i refuse to forgive him I want him so bad though.In the beginning of our relationship 4 years ago i drank in moderation. We would get into fights and for him to make it up to me he would buy me a bottle of Moet everytime to myself (and yes i would drink the whole bottle) I used to put him down alot when i drank then switchup and tell him i love him so he thinks i'm bi polar when that is not true.I feel like Britney Spears sometimes it's hard to deal with my emotions and drinking is very comforting to me. Friends have told me I offended them by cursing them out. Yesterday made me so ashamed. I went out with a friend to the club i had a few drinks and the next thing i know i was urinating in the bathroom with the stall wide open and people looking until my friend closed it for me.She just lost her job and I called her a loser low class and a lowlife and that hurts me right now.She told me she don't ever want to go out to a club with me again. I fell outside and embarrassed both of us because she was trying to hold me up but i'm tall and slim oppossed to her small frame.I tried to take my car keys from her and drive home but she didn't let me so I stayed the night over her house.I almost lost my i,d and credit card but she put it inside my boot in the club.I was dancing all over the place acting a fool (i don't usually go to clubs but i'm single again)I feel really sad and i'm too embarrassed to face her I get drunk and insult the ones i love and i feel horrible for that reason. Chapter 2: Pepin, Wisconsin As my dad’s buddy pulled his car and us into Pepin, my heart literally got caught someplace between my throat and stomach. Coming from such a packed city, Pepin was a real shocker for me. To the left, all I could see was a lake. Don’t get me wrong though. It was a lake of mythical proportions and I had the feeling if I dived deep enough into it I would find beasts of the imagination. More interestingly, woods surrounded the town. These were the type of woods, which only storybooks could offer. Was it just me or were there eyes peeping among the trees? Listening closely, I could have sworn I heard a sadistic witch ritual ricocheting among the barks. The village was strangely isolated and gave off an odd glow—well, maybe the moon had something to do with this. Pepin kind of held me in awe. It seemed so impossible that such a quiet town could exist in the time of cell phones, jeans, American Idol, and Britney Spears. My mouth was watering from utter astonishment and endearment. It really was. Finally coming to my senses, I decided to observe the reactions of the rest of the lot. My father, of course, had a smile as wide as Bayonne, New Jersey plastered upon his face. It made me jealous. Why hadn’t I inherited that aura of good will? Damn genetics! My mom was the real criminal though. Even though there was a view worth dying for just a centimeter of glass away from her, she had chosen to spend the car ride soliciting and advertising makeup with her wretched cell phone. The crunch of gravel beneath the tires was almost deafening in the silence as we were pulled into the driveway of a house that gave off more of a cottage feel. We bid farewell to our distinguished driver and stood staring at our house-to-be for a few, strangely slow seconds. Finally, my father—the leader of our cult—, of course, took charge and suggested, “I think our luggage is extremely tired from the hardships of travel. It really, really, really wants to get unpacked and relax. You know me, I’m all about the rights of inanimate objects.” Gosh he cracked me up sometimes. He’s cracked up everyone in this world at some time or another. Heaving the luggage into the house, we stood in what I supposed to be a darkened, empty living room. All I remember of that night is staring out of the window of my designated bedroom while unpacking. I’m a heck of a multitasker. I really am. Actually, I think teenagers nowadays are born with that trait. Lucky us. I could actually see stars hanging among the heavens. A feeling of insignificancy spread through my body. It was an odd feeling—knowing that you were a mere speck of dust on the surface of the universe. Damn that made me morbid. The whole night, I could hear my family arguing among themselves just past the shut door of my bedroom. I caught onto phrases like, “This move better change things for him. We’ve left behind our lives for Echo. This is all for him. We’re living in the freaking woods!” Boy, oh boy, did that increase that feeling of morbidity I was explaining. What if Wisconsin turned out to be just like New York City? Would I fail my family again? I don’t know how, but I just knew Pepin had something to offer me. God knows where this something was lurking, but it was there. I could have sworn I felt it. Nerd telepathy anyone? When I did manage to catch some shuteye, my dreams were filled with the peering eyes and gruesome voices I had imagined in the woods. They were calling me silently—magnetically. They had a story to tell and some history to reveal. Yet, when I got close enough for investigation, they simply and mysteriously vaporized into thin air and I was left waving my hands in the dark as I jerked to actuality. People claimed there was a fine line between illusion and reality. I wondered how much truth this held. I really did wonder. Instantaneously, I recalled a relevant observation. The St Kilda pub has been attacked by women's groups, the Victorian Government and even its own hotel industry for the plan to give women $50 drink vouchers for removing their knickers or free drinks for flashing their bras or underwear at bar staff. Ms Maclellan met Mr Manning who agreed to cancel the promotion, which had been planned for this Sunday. Her office said she had the power to ban such events if they are "likely to encourage irresponsible alcohol consumption or is not in the public interest". The Saint, which was caught in controversy in June when it employed a dwarf to pour liquor down the throats of patrons, would risk a fine of $13,000 and its licence if it defied the ban, the office said. An advertisement in this week's edition of free entertainment magazine Beat included an infamous paparazzi photo of Britney Spears getting out of a car without underwear. The advertisement says: "Free glass of champagne for first 100 ladies flash bra [sic] or undies to bar staff; for free drink hang your undies on the line above the bar for $50 drink card." Melbourne Centre Against Sexual Assault spokeswoman Deb Bryant said the event was no laughing matter, and the pub was not the first to hold such a promotion. In the State of Texas we now have the highest teenage pregnancy rate in the nation. Since GW Bush was the Governor, we've had several opportunists going around wasting millions of taxpayers dollars trying to teach abstinence-only. They don't even teach sex ed in public schools anymore. So much for separation of church and state, huh? Any logical thinking adult would say that telling kids not to have sex would be like telling Americans not to drive cars or telling Texans not to drive SUV's or big pick-up trucks with the high prices of gas. It's impractical and logistically it's not feasible. Better yet, it's like telling African-Americans not to listen to rap or hiphop or Americans not to watch football. With all the media industry and all the peer pressure out there, do you really honestly think that's going to work? When you've got the entertainment industry telling teenage girls that they're supposed to look like Britney Spears and sleep with every guy on the block, how do you expect abstinence-only to work? It's a recipe for disaster. I say we should go back to teaching sex eds in school and even start handing out birth control. In the State of Texas, kids have to be at least 18 or get permission from their parents to receive birth control. Then you have all these pro-lifers out there trying to outlaw abortion. So now you've got double-trouble. And then when these teens do get pregnant everyone likes to create some big brouhaha about all these illegitimate children being born and all these single moms living on welfare. They become an easy target for criticism by the conservatives. People then criticize them for living on welfare and not having jobs. How can you expect them to get jobs if they're not even educated? How do you expect them to get educated when they have to drop out of school to raise their children? How else are they supposed to support their children when the father disappears? In the State of Texas, it's also illegal to garnishee people's wages. So when you've got all these deadbeat dads who don't want to pay child support, the mother is screwed. My generation (High School Class of 2011) has consistently been defined as the generation that's obsessed with britney spears, paris hilton, soulja boy, and uses OMG and lol in daily conversations; the generation that's completely apathetic to the world's political climate, and would be thrilled to have their parents buy them a white hummer or other ungodly large SUV. However, my feeling is that this culture, where women are sexual objects and current events around the world are unimportant, has created a backlash, and birthed a new generation (or sub-generation) This new generation: Is more impressed with a small car that gets 30/40+ mpg than a sports car that can reach 60 mph in 3.1 seconds Realizes that the obesity crisis truly IS a crisis, and goes out of their way to eat healthier and exercise more often. Acknowledges that music like that of Soulja Boy, Flo Rida, and T-Pain is obnoxious and often times demeaning of women, and chooses to listen to other artists (alternative music and dance music is becoming increasingly popular) Would rather pursue their own interests than conform to a group's common culture, and in doing so, strengthens the group as a whole Has an increased interest in the Arts (photography, dance, music, etc.) Pushes drug and alcohol law reform (rejects Drug Prohibition), not so it can be easier to obtain alcohol and drugs, but because of a common feeling that there is actually injustice going on in the War on Drugs/High Drinking Age Is generally Liberal/Moderate, and rejects tranditionalism and ultra-conservative religious right views. Is, overall, fairly progressive. Pays close attention to politics and events happening around the world (2008 election, Tibet, Darfur, Guantanamo, etc.) Questions authority Is tolerant of all races, sexual preferences, genders (including transsexuals/transvestites), and religions. You can try to prove me wrong, but something is going on with this generation...it's a turn for the better. Maybe it's something in the water, or maybe it's Barack Obama....who knows...after all, some do call us "Generation O" Let the discussion begin! more
