Resolved Question: Are the Mavs going to choke again?

This team is a group of pretender! In 2006, they had their best chance but lost to the Heat in the Finals. In 2007, they were 67-15 but lost in the First Round the the Warrirors! And I don't want any excuses of Don Nelson coaching them! The Mavs are just a group of chokers and pretenders! more

Resolved Question: Help Cleaning a Purse!?

Just found this Coach hobo-style purse I got in 2006. Hasn't ever been cleaned plus been in storage for over a year. It's grey and black but it looks filthy. It has leather and buckles so I don't want to throw it in the washing machine, but I've never hand-washed anything and I don't even know what soap to use, do I just take it to the dry cleaners? There's no tag saying what it's made out of but it's just the classic stitched Coach material. What's the best route? more

Resolved Question: Can i Join the military with a RE-code 4C from the air force?

This is a long detail, but i think its pertininent to know the whole story behind my question. I had ACL and meniscus Repair on my left knee in september 2006. I recieved a Waiver from MEPS in june of 2007 for my knee and swore into the Air Force. I left for Boot camp on december 11th 2007 and in my 3rd week of training, i had some left knee pain, asked for an ibuprofen, and i was sent to medical hold. While there, they looked at my file and saw about my waiver so decided to check my knee out. They determined that i was physically unfit for duty and sent me to medical hold for further evaluation. While in medical hold I had MRI's and X-RAYs taken of my knee that showed only minimal scarring from my surgery. I could still run and everything, but they sent me home before i finished boot camp with an Entry level separation for "Left Knee Pain" and a Re-Entry code of 4C. Since being home i have played semi-professional baseball, a basketball coach, i run daily, lift weights daily and have NO knee problems. I recently went to the doctor and he checked my knee out and gave me a fulkl medical release for me knee, with no limitations or abnormalities what-so-ever. He gave me an official letter recommending me for military service. I also have a letter of recomendation from my baseball coach in florida. All I want is to be able to join the military, but i havent been able to find a recruiter from any branch who will help me. Am I eligible for Enlistment into any branch with my situation and re-entry code? It has been 2 years since my discharge. thank you for reading and please help, i really need some advice. more

Voting Question: Do you think Pats fan and Brady fans overrate Tom Brady?

I think right now he is barely in the top 5. Id say Manning #1, Brees #2, Roethlisberger #3, Warner #4, Brady #5. Brady 3 rings were as a result of having a great defense (easily top during the 2001-2005 era, and a good o-line, and players who were unselfish such as Tim Brown that contributed on both sides of the ball and special teams). Super bowl 36 in which they had beat the rams was about the defense stopping kurt warner who was the best qb that time, marshall faulk best running back in nfl at that time and best receiving back, and torry holt and bruce which had best #1 and #2 wr combination. Brady had only 146 passing yards (1 touchdown) about 180 less than warner but got it because individually he was the best player however the defense as a whole and kicker more important. Super Bowl 39 was the same thing Pats defense forced 4 turnovers including 2 by Rodney Harrison which basically sealed the game and in this Super Bowl Brady did not win MVP it was Branch who had 10 catches. Also if you look at it once certain teams either added a player or coach the Pats have been unable to win. Once Indiana built up their D after Tony Dungy came to town colts have beaten pats 6 out of 7 times including last time they beat which was a come from behind win in 2006 afc championship. Once Roethlisberger went to Steelers it made them a contender. Once Brees went to Saints he literally changed that Franchise. Notice Pats have been unable to win since 2005 when their defense started to decline and certain players retired even though offensively they have more playmakers like Randy Moss and Wes Walker. more

Resolved Question: Why won't Aguirre take Sinha or Pavel?

I now he won't take Pavel because he has a problem with him because Pavel played the 1998 world cup and the 2006 but when Aguirre coached Mexico in KoreaJapon2002 he didn't take him so its a personal problem and i also heard that's because Pavel and Blanco don't get along either since 2006 when Pavel said something about why LaVolpe didn't take him. But why won't he take Sinha? my question earlier was way stupid my bad for the grammar errors and missing words i did it on my phone so it war hard to prove read it*was hard more

Resolved Question: Do you believe that this will be the X-factor in the SuperBowl?... Saints Defense...?

The Saints ability or disability to get turnovers, fumbles, and interceptions. Why I ask....? 1. Peyton Manning threw 16 interceptions in the regular season, 1 per game, Brees had 11. 2. Saints had 141 points on takeaways. 3. Saints had the most defensive touchdowns and most interceptions for touchdowns. 4. Saints had 3rd most interceptions, 26. Green Bay had 30, Buffalo had 28. 5. Minnesota could have won 49-21, had they not given the ball back to New Orleans 6 times. (I personally believe Minnesota was a better team than Indianapolis, but that's my own opinion. Minnesota has a very comparable defense if not better, and a better offense, especially their running game being #13 with Peterson and Indianapolis' #32 run game). The Colts have a rookie coach, and most of the Colts were not on the 2006 SuperBowl roster. And for those who want to answer... Peyton is just too good, Brees beat him in every category except for total yards and sacks. Brees had a record breaking 70.6 completion percentage, more yards per game, more yards per attempt, more touchdowns, and less interceptions. more

Resolved Question: Hand checking rules or Zone defense?

Which defense is tougher for offensive players to score? Btw there are some quotes that can refresh your brain. During a 2007 L.A. Lakers pre-season broadcast, Phil Jackson was asked how he thought Michael Jordan would perform today, Phil said: "Michael would average 45 with these rules." "You can't even touch a guy now," says Charlotte coach Larry Brown. "The college game is much more physical than our game. I always tease Michael [Jordan], if he played today, he'd average 50." Question for Clyde Drexler: In the current league where there is no hand checking and no ruff play how much better would your numbers be? Clyde Drexler: Oh, tremendously better, from shooting percentage to points per game everything would be up, and our old teams would score a lot more points, and that is saying something because we could score a lot back then. I do think there should be an asterisk next to some of these scoring leaders, because it is much different trying to score with a forearm in your face. It is harder to score with that resistance. You had to turn your back on guys defending you back in the day with all the hand checking that was going on. For guys who penetrate these days, it's hunting season. Yes, now you can play (floating)zone(legally), but teams rarely do. "The defensive rules, the hand checking, the ability to make contact on a guy in certain areas .... [have] all been taken away from the game. If Kobe could get 81, I think Michael could get 100 in today's game." - Scottie Pippen January 2006 Craig Hodges is the Lakers shooting coach, get a look at what he said: Q: If you could take one player in their prime, would you take Michael Jordan or Kobe? A: M.J., all day. There's no comparison. M.J. could score 100 points in this era. You can't hand-check now. Imagine that trying to guard M.J. It would be crazy. Hall of Famer Rick Barry, a keen observer of the game, said he would love to see players of the past getting to attack the basket under the new officiating. “They’d score a lot more,” he said. Tex Winter said. "Players today can get to the basket individually much easier." Asked if he could defend Jordan under today’s interpretation of the rules, Dumars first laughed, “It would have been virtually impossible to defend Michael Jordan based on the way the game’s being called right now.” Full link http://bruceblitz.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=nbabasketballmessageboard&thread=59&page=1 more

Resolved Question: Which defense is actually harder for offensive players to score?

Resolved Question: Why did these professional women's team suffer defeat to teams of underdeveloped boys?

The story below is about how a high school boys team beat the best women in the US in hockey. Then I read about how in 2003, the Germany Women's Soccer Team lost to high school boys in soccer. It didn't make much headlines because girls' fragile egos would be bruised. These are grown, athletically-developed women that have been playing longer, are professional, have better training & more training, and still manage to lose to boys that are still going through puberty. How is this so? High School Boys Beat U.S. Women's Hockey Team January 5, 2006 11:00 a.m. EST Yvonne Lee - All Headline News Staff Reporter Warroad, MN (AHN) - The U.S. Olympic women's hockey team was beaten by a high school boys' team on Wednesday. The Warroad High School team managed a 2-1 victory in the exhibition game that was attended by 1,500 people, reports The Associated Press. With 3:52 remaining, Allen McBride shot a backhander past USA goalie Chanda Gunn to win the game. "They were nice to put a team up against us that was spirited and you could tell by the reactions that it meant as much to those kids as it does to us," Team USA coach Ben Smith said to the AP. "Hockey is hockey. I think the people liked it. It seemed like a nice crowd and just a wonderful evening," he added. The Warroad team led 24-23 in shots. The Mrs: I'm sorry, I didn't know being competitive sports & trying to win was a bad thing. And I find it odd that you say women athletes aren't as competitive. Sounds like you're insulting women more than anything.KatieMed: Be less "female" (ignorant) on how sports work. Where did you get the idea that these women let the boys win? Oh yeah, you just made that up.O's Mom: These women's team competed against high school boys as a means of PRACTICE & PREPARATION for real games against other women's teams. That means it would require being competitive to get the full benefit of the practice. They competed to win. These aren't "children" like you are making them sound -- little toddlers that watch sesame street. But athletic high school athletes. Wow. more

Resolved Question: And if it couldn't get any worst for the Super Chokers! Vincent Jackson was handcuffed and his car impounded?

SAN DIEGO (AP)—Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson(notes) was handcuffed briefly and had his car impounded following a traffic stop on Sunday just a few hours before a playoff loss to the New York Jets, police said. Det. Gary Hassen said Monday that a traffic officer pulled over Jackson for playing loud music. The player was cited for driving with a suspended license and expired tags. Jackson was briefly handcuffed, which Hassen said is part of standard procedure in such situations. Jackson has been arrested twice for suspicion of driving under the influence since joining the Chargers. He pleaded guilty in a 2006 case and was on probation when he was arrested again last January. That case has been delayed several times. “I don’t have a concern about Vincent in general,” coach Norv Turner said. Jackson avoided reporters by leaving the Chargers’ complex through a back way on Monday. He got into a car and was driven away. General manager A.J. Smith didn’t return a call seeking comment. The traffic stop occurred near Chargers headquarters, about two miles north of Qualcomm Stadium. Jackson had to catch a ride to the game with quarterback Philip Rivers(notes). “Billy and I carpool,” Rivers said, referring to backup quarterback Billy Volek (notes). “Vincent joined in.” Source http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-chargers-jacksoncited&prov=ap&type=lgns more

Resolved Question: Delaware's Pat Devlin: The Next Joe Flacco?

Entering the 2010 College football season a small school Quarterback to watch is Delaware QB Pat Devlin. Devlin, A transfer from Penn State finished his Junior Season throwing for 2,664 yards, 16 Touchdowns, 64.0 completion percentage, and leading Delaware to a 6-5 Final Record with wins over #12 Massachusetts and In-State Rival Delaware State. Joe Flacco threw for 18 Touchdowns his Junior year and led Delaware to a 5-6 mark to finish the season but came back his senior season and threw for over 4,000 yards passing, 23 Touchdowns, and led Delaware to the Football Subdivision National Championship Game where they lost 49-21 to Appalachian State however he was picked 18th overall by the Baltimore Ravens, became the starting Quarterback, won Diet Pepsi Rookie of the year honors, and led Baltimore to the AFC Championship losing to the eventual Superbowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers. Flacco is a hero around Newark, Delaware and is still a fan favorite. If drafted Pat Decvlin will become the third Quarterback under Head Coach K.C. Keeler, appointed in 2001, to be drafted with Flacco in 2008 and Andy Hall picked in the 6th Round by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2006. Another Notable Delaware Quareterback is Former Oakland Raiders QB Rich Gannon who was in the 4th round in the 1987 Draft by the New England Patriots, later traded to the Minnesota Vikings. Projected to go in rounds 1 or 2 in the 2011 NFL Draft he will have to prove his worthiness with a strong senior season and quite possibly a Championship. more

Resolved Question: What team could be a perfect fit for running back Steven Jackson after 2010?

The man is a beast! He's on a terrible Rams team and he's rushed for at least 1,100 yards each of the last 5 seasons with a terrible offensive line and he's gotten as many as 1,600 yards in 2006 and 1,500 yards this season that just passed in 2009. He had signed a 5 year mega million dollar deal that made him the highest paid running back in league history and he rightfully has earned that money. But he got the deal with the Rams when they still had Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, a decent offensive line, Mike Martz was still a good head coach, and the Rams had gotten to the playoffs his first two years in the league. Now in each of the last three years the Rams have gone from bad to worse and he's got an opt out clause after the 2010 season and he'll just still be 27 years of age if he excercises that option. If the Rams don't show any vast signs of improvement and they probably won't . . . I can already see Steven Jackson opt out before the 4th year of a 5 year deal. Now with Salary Cap about to end and owners are allowed to spend however much money they want to bolster their teams after 2010 . . . Steven Jackson might just get an even bigger payday than he did before. Every team could use Steven Jackson but which team would just be utterly perfect with him? more

Resolved Question: Why are so many so called "Tennis Fans" so much against the Williams Sisters?

I have been answering questions this weekend as I have been stuck in my house in the cold of winter and I have noticed a trend to people saying things about Venus and Serena that really are not true in their implications. I read were one said its "like the other women on tour are playing against men" playing against the William's Sisters. Another said that "Venus/Serena's arms are bigger than Nadal's". One said "hopefully the comeback of Kim and Justine will "shut" them up! While this next statement will piss some off it is nonetheless very true. These kind of statements are racism at its most quiet. While I have always been very critical of Serena and her antics on court, especially the faking hurt in tight matches, I have seen this kind of thing many times before, in both the men and women's game. And her abuse of the line judge at the Open was as bad as it gets, yet people in the tennis world love John McEnroe for having done no less in many more occasions. The truth is neither Serena or Venus have bigger arms than Rafael Nadal. Svetlana Kuznetsova has bigger legs than both of them as does Elena Dementieva. Dinara Safina is every bit as big as both the Williams'. There are a bunch of big girls on tour and yet one of the smallest who just returned to the tour has beaten everyone...more than once!!! But is anyone talking about her quitting in the 2006 Aus. Open final...no! And what if anything have you heard form either sister about anything. History shows that Venus is very reserved to speak about anything and has never put another player down in any way and respects the efforts of all the players on tour. It also shows that in losing to anyone both girls have always been gracious and respectful. And while neither is or has been my favorite player on tour for totally different reasons (remember I am a tennis coach) the question begs to be asked... Where is this deep dislike coming from and why? Your thoughts. No Jacob, there is no venting here. Everything I have stated is accurate at the very least. Many will accuse one of venting simply for elaborating on reality as opposed to what some have said. I have no reason to vent. But it seems that few other players receive the put downs as two of the most famous and 'microscoped' players in history...who happen to be "Black". more

Voting Question: Why is Bruce Arena not the coach for team USA anymore?

I thought he was an amazing coach. Under him we reached the quarter-final in 2002 and were only cheated out of the tournament. We beat Portugal's golden generation along the way and throughout the years beat teams like Germany several times. In 2006 we also went out on a really bad call against Ghana. We only had one bad game against the Czechs. Against Italy we produced a tie, but should have won that match and played with 1 man down for most of the match. It's really surprising to me that he is not coaching any longer. To me he is one of the best coaches in the world. more

Resolved Question: What do Madden 2011 need to become the best vedio game ever made.?

I hate people keep saying madden 2010 was gud; it was Alright( 2.5 stars) at best and not anything like they made it out ot be. EA please when you guys are making the game the number one thing you should think about is how to make the game so fun people wont stop playing it. First of all the most important thing in football games when you get tried of playing quick matches all day is dinasty and hall of fame. Dinasty got better but it still has a long ways to go. First of all bring back radio; and make local radio and national radio; i know that allot of money but trust me; it’s is so fun to hear local radio talk about the jets(jets fan here) all people do is call and talk about how bad we are. its fun to vent after jets games. bring back the icons from madden 2006 thoses were the best. the QB of the future; Star of the future or fran QB, ETC. All madden 2006 icons were beast. Make a Icon that is the best person at the position in the leauge. Like us Jets fan dont have nothing to be proud of but we are very proud of Derrell Revis; the fact that he's the best corner in the leauge. Madden should have the icon. (these are the most important part right here) make it special when the team wins the superbolw, the AFC campionships( this is very important to some teams; take the cards for example) the superbolw is not the only time that people celebrate), and NFC campionship and (important) team that has been bad for a long time make the playoff(raiders) fans and players should go nutts if they got to playoff and win anything. Superbolw celebration should be atleast 3 mins(packed with coaches, MVP, QB, and owner's speach). and it should not be the same if its a team for a team that has not been there in a awhile or ever and for a team that wins it ever year. i love football and the thing that makes football fun is not the game itself (i can go play football oustide right now and not allot of people will watch) what makes football fun is the stories of the teams; player, coach(that can’t win the big one) all those stuff. This is the best way to make all the happen. kinda like college football; yall should make something like one star teams which would be like the raider up to 3 stars teams which would be like the (bears, jets, jags, texas) teams that just can’t get to the big one and then the 5 star teams like the colts, pats, the stealers that wins the bolw every two years. If a team goes though about 6 years without making the playoff and then they finally draft a matt ryan that gets them there; make the game that gets them into the playoff special. show the locker room after the game with all the happy players. btw there should he a differ from being on the road at the COLTS than from being on the road at the brown. It should be a ranks of the louder places to play and it should change depending on how the teams is doing over years not just on year. finally for dinasty; if you build a team that win three, four campionships in a row; the celebration, after superbolw talk show, everything should be diffrent. im a huge dinasty fan no matter what but if you make a dinasty like that where its hard to make your team good; cause i be winning like a million campionships and it be no thing. Also player valves should be depending on how 80 percent how they play and not what they ratting is. cause in real life if a guy makes the pro blow he’s going making allot of money even if his ratting is 79, it’s okey once in a while but you gotta make players produce denpending on their rating and the rating of their team. in no worLd whould lean washinton ever leauge the leauge in rushing. i could go oN and oN and oN but im stop here. not really btw the look and the feel of 2009 gameplay was better than 2010 to me. 2010 was ugly, the players in look nothing like their real self and cant yall just make real face’s like 2k like combine kobe face with lebron face and make a WR; that better than seeing a cartoon as your QB of the future; wats even worst is i’ll have two people on my team after like ten years that look the same. P.S. Hall of fame( IT SEEM LIKE only QB and RUn and MLB or OLB goes to the Hall of Fame fit that, CB, DE I GUEST IT'S CAUSE THEY DONT HAVE STATS. also you should had have the best player at your position icon at least once to the make the HOF) superstar should be played through the halmet for real and it will never be really gud untill yall make it like a game where you can walk aroung; buy a house buy a car; go to pratice by yourself; buy planes. drive around make Hall of fame a separate free roaming game where you can walk around the city you play in. well that’s just a dream of mind. Plus make online conected. make it so that there can be people thats coaches, people thats players, in superstar; people that gm’s and make them all conected; like i’ll be the gm and hire a user coaches that does not but decide who plays and call the plays but not play more

Voting Question: Pulled Hip Flexor? Or Pulled Groin?

I recently just started working on field goal kicking. I havn't kicked field goals since my sophomore year of high school (2006-07). The reason i started to do this is because i am thinking about going to a 4 year school after im done at the community college and walking on and trying to earn a scholarship for school. I think that i can do this, seeing as when i was a sophomore i was easily kicking 40 yard field goals (the only reason i quit being that the team switched from 11 man to 8 man and the coach told me we were no longer going to incorporate field goal kicking into the offense). So i recently have been kicking field goals, i've done this only two times thus far, with a couple days between each time. Now, recently it has snowed here in Kansas, and today i went in to play basketball with my usual group. We play about 3 times a week, and now i use the other three days to kick my field goals. Today, when we got to the gym i jumped up to get a ball and when i landed both my feet flew out from under me because my shoes were wet from walking on the snow. Dumb mistake for me to wear them outside i know lol..anyways i noticed that after i fell down, when id bend my knee and lift up towards the ceiling, my leg hurts pretty bad up near the groin, right where the leg is connected to the groin. the pain is on the inside part of the thigh, in the groin area. My question is, would this be a hip flexor pull? or maybe a pulled groin? And did I possibly strain it first with the kicking being as my leg wasnt used to that motion any more? I would like it known that in my entire life, whether ive stretched or not, ive never pulled any muscles. I also find it kinda strange that me falling down would cause a pulled groin or hip flexor..but maybe i'm just stupid and falling down can easily cause this type of injury. Sorry for the long winded explanation but im trying to give all the info i can so i can hopefully get a good answer! Thanks for your help! Also, i forgot to mention that I have no pain when running, or at least not that ive noticed, and i did not experience any pain after kicking the field goals, except in my foot naturally. My leg felt fine prior to this, though i understand i could have strained it and probably not even noticed if it wasnt too bad. more

Resolved Question: This reminds of 2006 when USC was the best ever?

I know this isn't a question but come on. Do people really think that Bama is going to shut down TX and kill the Horns. TX is not only a good team but a great team. We have a possible Heisman trophy winning QB, a great WR, and a stout defense. I have seen Bama play and they are not only good they are great and it is going to be a good game. We have one of the top 3 coaching staffs in the country and it is going to be on. GO HORNS more

Resolved Question: How can a make a resume if I don't have any work experience?

I'm 18 and I've never held a real job, now that I'm applying for some most ask for resumes I'm still in school (senior). in 2005 I volunteered as a soccer coach for little kids at the local park district. Can I put that in or is it too dated? -In 2006 I refereed for soccer for the kids township. -In 2008 I volunteered (only for a day) to help with a Christmas event at another high school (not mine) to raise money. I sold stuff and collected money, made posters etc. -2007-present I've been part of a club at my high school called invisible children, we help collect books, money and raise awareness about the issues in Uganda - I've also been babysitting on and off for the past two years. Is any of this stuff good to put on a resume, is it too dated? Is there a way to word it to make it sound better? Do I have to include exact dates? do I include numbers? the older stuff I don't really have the name and numbers anymore just a couple of people I use to work with. the only awards I've gotten from school is perfect attendance in 2008 and AP scholar 2009 should I include those too? Any other tips or suggestions? Any website to some templates I could use? Thanks more

Resolved Question: Can we conclude that Ray Emery alone did not take the Senators to the 2006-07 Stanley Cup final?

Seemed like he was the second coming of Christ here back in June and now looks as if he left some of his mojo with Atlant Moscow. Apparently, the Flyers are so bad in goal that the local paper said that Brian Boucher played WELL surrendering three goals while the potent offense registered a goose-egg. Maybe Dan "The Hammer" Briere should keep his gloves on and use his overly-paid-for talents to hammer in a goal here and there as well? Even I think the Coach is on borrowed time, and the few owies they have notwitstanding, what do the Flyers need to shake their case of the Underachievement Blues?Ray is good no doubt, but this question was meant to address the delusional fanfare surrounding his signing with the Flyers. Now that they are losing because of a lack of scoring and he was spelled by Boucher, I'm trying to illustrate that the Flyers have absolutely no idea of how to compete in the NHL. Actually I take that back. The people working for Snider probably do and probably want to, but his meddling and influence are killing them. Personally I have no problem with Emery, I just don't believe he's the answer to their problems that Orange-adelphia thought he was.Steve - Some fans around Philly said exactly that in justifying the Flyers acquisition. more

Resolved Question: Why the Nets haven't fired Lawrence Frank yet?

This season for the New Jersey Nets have been very horrible and plus they haven't been into the playoffs in less than three seasons (2006-07). If the Nets would go to 0-17, they would join the 1988-89 Miami Heat and the 1998-99 Los Angeles Clippers as the teams to start their season in a worse way. If I was the general manager of the team, I would fire him and bring in a new coach. Anybody's better than Lawrence France!!! Any opinions are suggestions are welcome. more

Resolved Question: Can some one look at my story?

Ski Trip It is February 19th 2006. Today is the day that I am going on a field trip to a ski resort. I have never skied before in my life, It is early morning and I wake up. The sky is still dark, overhead we can see a thin line of orange kissing the dark hues of blue. The tree branches outside my window are crystallized with ice. My father, who drives a taxi, drives me to my school; Willowbrook Public School. During the ride, breathing the smell of leather in his car, my heart feels like it is attempting to push itself out of my throat. I hear a voice in my head say, Oh my god, you’re the only one who doesn’t’t know how to ski. As my father wishes me good luck and a ‘’Have fun, bachem!’’, I stretch my arm to put my backpack on. I see children outside the entrance, lights illuminate within. As I walk the cement pathway that leads to the school doors, I see people I recognize. Most of them have their own equipment, snowboards, ski shoes, carrying cases. I look at myself. I had on a pair of long johns under my jeans and my winter jacket. Nice. My stomach does a little jitterbug. I am told by my teacher, Mrs. Cappe, that since I am going to go to the beginner’s level, with the French teacher Ms. Francis, I should stick with them, and not to forget to meet under the big bell. ********************* On the Greyhound coach bus, with my backpack on top of the metal shelf, thoughts are whirling, like a hurricane approaching the calms of an island. This is going to be great, right? I still don’t know what bell Mrs. Cappe is talking about, but I hope I make it. Others were chit chattering away and gazing at the TV screens, watching a movie. My thoughts were bouncing back and forth, as I looked through the window. Snow covered hills, small evergreen trees decorating the bare whiteness were in view. I sighed. People began saying, ‘’Oh we’re here, it’s Mt. St. Louis!’ Getting off of the bus, we saw people already in their skis out-front and ready to go. We, the new arrivals, had to wait a good 30-45 minutes in line for our tags. I have to share a locker with Kristy, a student in my grade. So, I go to the front to get my boots. There are all sorts of coloured boots in the cabinets. I have my money to rent the boots with the skis. So I give them to the person on the counter who gives me my skis, after asking for my size. After putting on my boots, I needed skis. I hobble up to the counter, it felt like my legs were long pieces of wood that were about to snap if I didn’t walk like a toy soldier. The back of the shop was made of wood, and this shop was close to the doors that led to the great outdoors, the same terrain where I would acquire the skill of skiing. There were two guys behind the counter. I ask them for shoes. He just looks me up and down and goes to get skiis for me. I find this strange, how would he know my foot size? He says, ‘’Here you go.’’ , and hands them to me. Outdoors, I breathe in the crisp air outside, it hurts my nose. I wander to a girl looks friendly and ask nervously, Do you know where the Beginners Level is? She says, ‘’It’s right there‘’. She points to a group of people standing in a horizontal line. I go with my skis to join them. I feel like a lost lamb at the edge of a deep forest. The first thing we are supposed to learn is how to put on our skis. The instructor said that we should put our heel at the back so it would ‘click’ and stay put. I glanced at the others and attempted to do just that. I stuck my booted foot in the shoe. It wouldn’t fit. My cheeks turned a bright cerise. My insides felt like they were burning. I nervously get up to ask, ‘’Umm, excuse me, I can’t put them in.’’ The lady comes over and checks for me. ‘’Those skis are too small,’ she says. ‘’You’re going to have to exchange them.’’ All down the hill, (fortunately it was just a gentle curve) I had to hobble down to the rental Place. I kept on muttering to myself, ‘’What an idiot!’’ *************** Ten minutes and two shoe sizes later, I went back to see everyone learning how to stop, ‘pizza ‘’ way and turn. I tried doing that too. I took my ski poles and stabbed them into the fluffy snow. I made my way up to the top, leaving small circles behind. The instructor says, ‘’Go.’’ I try to push myself off, and I go, slowly, trying to push my weight on one side but then to save myself from a all, I cross my ski poles together and fall to the side. There’s the icy sensation of snow behind my neck. I watch the others do their turns, all of them succeeding as if the ground was their best friend. After continuing this several times, the instructor deemed me ‘okay’. After this, we go heading to the elevators to ski down the slope, a baby slope. I ask a girl in front of me what the time was, I keeEDIT---Is there anything I should cut?---------this is a personal narrative, so yeahI find I rushed the end, a little bit...what do you think? more

Resolved Question: What was the name of the San Diego Chargers player that cost the Chargers their playoff loss against?

against the New England Patriots in January 2007? eventhough it was the 2006 season, the playoff game was played the following year just like in all professional sports, the Patriots beat the Chargers 24 to 21, which ended the Chargers season. The Chargers head Coach at the time, Marty Schottenheimer was fired eventually. Anyway, one of the San Diego Chargers player screwed up big time in the 4th quarter, it was either on a Punt return or a kickoff return, the ball slipped in his hand and he decided to run with the ball, instead he should have just buried and covered the ball with his whole body, eventually he was tacked and fumbled the ball, and the Patriots recovered it. Anyway, that play in my opinion cost the game for the Chargers. What was the name of the player?what is the name of the Chargers player, or former Chargers player if he is with another team now, that ran the ball when he should have buried it with his body?Since then, the Chargers have not come close to making it to the Super Bowl, or even the AFC championship game. They have over 14 wins that season, which is the franchise's best team record in history. I was so mad after that game because I hate the New England Patriots. more

Resolved Question: How do you(especially Saints Fans)feel about the New Orleans Saints this seasons?

I am happy for the Saints for having a good seasobn this season and i know that they will get to the playoffs but before then they still have a long way to go with the season that's not over with yet. The Saints have always had a good team ever since the late 80's, early 90's(along with the best Linebacking Corp). The mid-late 90's was ALL Ditkas fault especially for him giving away all of the draft picks just for Ricky Willams. 2000, Saints had their first playoff win and from there(2001-04 Seasons)Saints had tiebreakers, which is not bad. 2005 season wasn't their fault, because of Katrina they had to go on the road and had no homefield. Then in 2006, the right coach for the Saints, Sean Payton, used the Saint's talents that was already on the team and helped them become one of the NFL's elite team again. more

Resolved Question: Does anyone else besides me miss the WWE RAW days when Coach commented?

I enjoyed WWE the best back from November of 2005 to March of 2006 because that's when Coach commented on RAW always rooting for the heel. Voting Question: What are my chances at the University of Wisconsin--Madison?

I'm going to apply to UW--Madison either tonight or tomorrow. I know it's a really good school (esp. for what I want to go into, anthropology), so I'm just wondering if you think I at least have some sort of chance of getting in. These are my main achievements, academic and extra-curricular. •Unweighted GPA: 3.6 •SAT Writing: 700 •SAT Verbal: 640 •SAT Math: 570 (I have a diagnosed non-verbal learning disability) •Currently enrolled in 2 AP classes and have taken many honors throughout high school •Taking Early Enrollment Spanish IV Honors (like AP, but without the test at the end) •Lowest quarter grade a B- (honors chemistry... dear god.) •Cross country for all 4 years (achievements include captain for 3 years, various all-class and all-state rankings, ran in the state meet all 4 years and in New Englands my sophomore year, MVP 2006 and 2007 seasons, Coach's Award 2006 and 2007) •Played oboe for 8 years (achievements include all-state band, various select groups, Excellent and Superior ratings at solo and ensemble festivals) •National Honor Society member I also live in RI, which I suppose *could* help (geographic diversity, and all). I'm just concerned, because I attend a really really small school, and on paper it technically doesn't look like I signed up for a lot of difficult classes this year, as I'm only taking 3 honors courses (2 AP and 1 Early Enrollment). I'm also not taking a science. I decided that it would be more beneficial for me to take lots of history courses, given my major. I'm loving my classes and they're by no means easy because they're with a very difficult teacher, but the UW admissions people don't know that. That B- was a final grade, not a quarter grade. more

Resolved Question: bjp people..is this work?

bjp people havent held back in abusing one person in the congress...from calling her a stripper to a useless person..they have tried every dirty trick in the book to defame this person...and they have failed...they have put up spurious internet sites blatantly lying about her...but this person...is working her life of for the country...yes..sonia gandhi...is this work?? sonia gandhi an mp from rae bareli has achieved all this in last 5 years in office- she is ensuring there is all-round development in Rae Bareli—something her mother-in-law Indira Gandhi started four decades ago. That was when she set up the first industry here—a unit of Indian Telephone Industries (ITI). It was declared sick a couple of years ago and faced a shutdown. That’s when Sonia stepped in and got a special Rs 310 crore package for its revival. she is responsible for the setting up of the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the Footwear Design Development Institute, the Indian Petroleum Technology Institute or India’s third railway coach factory. In addition, she has worked for the setting up of schools, colleges, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and computer training centres that have sprung up with direct or indirect assistance of the central government. Sonia’s concern for good roads has been noticed from time to time. And her periodic visits to different parts of Rae Bareli helped her keep abreast of the ground reality. In 2005-2006, Sonia got a special grant of Rs 250 crore out of the central pool for roads in and around Rae Bareli. Concerned by the deplorable condition of roads, reflecting large-scale pilferage of funds, she shot off a letter to then chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, who promptly got his younger brother and then PWD minister Shivpal Yadav to set up an inquiry, following which not only were several local officials suspended but firs were lodged against as many as 77 of them for gross financial bungling. Of late, she has also got the Lucknow-Rae Bareli-Allahabad road declared a national highway, for the upgradation of which an initial grant of Rs 313 crore has already been sanctioned by the Centre for work on the first stretch of 118 km, while the remaining 100-km stretch is to be taken up in the second phase. As the power situation worsened during the Mayawati regime, Sonia clearly went out of her way to provide respite to the local population by linking Rae Bareli directly to the National Thermal Power Corporation’s newly commissioned 210 MW unit at Unchahar, in Uttar Pradesh. On the health front, besides the periodic visit by ‘Lifeline Express’—a special hospital-on-rails—Sonia has also been instrumental in getting a mini trauma centre set up at the local district hospital. She has also arranged for the setting up of telemedicine facilities sponsored by the Gas Authority of India, which already has its presence in the constituency through the Gas Pipeline Technology Institute. her work as party president merits another thread...so..watch out for that one.. In Rae Bareli, it is not easy to find someone who would be willing to find fault with Sonia..for a good reason...i know..you will call her imported...imported hai..par tere desh kay liye kaam kar rahi hai..and that is all that should matter...is this work people??. source-http://www.outlookindia.com/article.aspx?240353yes..this is typical...here you have a person who is working..and she is mimiced and stopped..write to vatican make her a saint??..is that what you say when you cant truthfully say anything else?mumbai momentum...no we have been answering logically all the time..but its no use..you dont listen..we are human we get tired..@ rahul..i was from abvp...i later left it...i dint like the hate culture...dumb gandhi...is that the best you can do??and i think its very clear why amthi and rae bareli arent getting electricity....mayavati plays politics in a very bad way..its sad that so many bjp people call me sycophant when they dont have a problem showering allocades on bjp netas..if someone is doing work..you appreciate it...but..who am i kidding??...it isnt in bjp's culture to appreciate any work done for the people.. more

i am a french national team supporter and a huge fan of the premier league and i have been observing saha's performances these last couple of weeks and he has been nothing short of fantastic. he is repaying the faith that david moyes gave him and he already has 6 goals this early in the season. it's not just the goals that I am paying attention to but it is his strength, pace, movement off the ball, and his skill that has really caught my eye. i know that his career has been plagued by injuries but if he stays FIT and continues to perform the way he is then i think he has an outside chance of making it too the world cup. his record shows that he is a proven goalscorer in the league and sir alex ferguson has labelled him a "fantastic striker who is built for speed." remember, he did make the 2006 france world cup squad, even though he was not involved in any of the qualifiers, by scoring 15 goals in the second half of the season. the reason i brought up this question though is because i am worried about the lack of goals that the french squad is scoring. its not only that the team is playing slow and that the coach is using the wrong tactics, but also they only have scored 10 goals in the qualifying campaign and 6 of them have come from henry and ribery. france needs a forward that can complement henry because the rest of the french forwards (anelka, remy, benzema, and gomis) have one goal combined amongst them and have had little production when called upon by their country. i think that saha's qualities will create an effective partnership with henry and i think that it's one that domenech should at least experiment in their friendlies leading to the world cup. i am not claiming that saha should start for france but it would give the team a good option upfront(he could be a 3rd of 4th option striker for the squad). At the moment, saha is playing as france's best forward and one of the top strikers in the premier league. If he stays fit, the sky is the limit for this guy. what do you think? more

Resolved Question: How to Deal with Long Winded Karate Instructor?

Hello everyone I've been a member of my university karate club since 2006. I used to be a student member, but now I join the club as faculty/staff. I really love everyone in my club, including the head instructor, but I find that I am slowly losing patience with him.(I've had this problem before. Refer to old question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiZcMIJE5FNaGtVYcbsTHnPsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080218213624AALT5Gw ) Even though I love him to death, he has a tendency to talk during 75-80% (no exaggeration) of practice times, trying to drill into our heads how the move should go by doing demonstrations on another coach the entire time. He gets long winded all the time and has a tendency to go off topic, which confuses the hell out of me because assuming that I wanted to listen to him lecture, it is hard for me (and other new students, along with current ones) to keep up with the overall message that he is trying to tell us if there isn't a clear message. Then his long winded lectures become boring and then new students who tried to hang in there, lose patience and join another martial arts club or school. This instructor has been like this since I first joined the club, but because I was serious about learning the martial art (along with a few students left), I hung in there from 2006-2009, until I have gotten a green belt. The head instructor wastes so much time in practice rambling, that we hardly work on the requirements that are need to rank up/test in our head organization, such as kata, kisos,etc... And when the club went to the organization's annual convention this year, I was embarrassed because even though the head instructor had given me a green belt (which at the time, didn't think I deserved), I didn't know even half of all the requirements for my belt and had to join a group where white belts, from other schools, who helping me and showing me some of the requirements. Also, by the way a "brown belt" from our club and everyone else in our club under her rank, was in forced to join the same white belt group too. Good news is, since the convention this year, I have improved more than I have since I started the club, and the reason is because of the second highest ranked instructor (3rd Dan) in our club. In his spare time, he practices with me and others from our club, and we actually train. Because of that, I get to practice more and my stances are better, my punches and kicks are more effective, I'm able to improve my reaction time by practicing more katas, kisos, etc.. and I am starting to understand the abstractness in some of the moves. He does lecture sometimes, but that is fine because he doesn't get long winded and I understand what he is trying to say. I can tell that the 3rd Dan instructor knows that the head instructor can get long winded, and he can see that the students aren't getting the effective training (why he started extra training) but he is very respectful about it and doesn't try to step on the head instructors toes, saying that the head instructor is in charge and can teach whatever he likes. However, I AM losing patience. I respect the head instructor, and i know that he has the most wisdom and knowledge that he gained throughout his long life, but whats the use of having all that if you can't convey it to your students. It's like teaching a wall. I've tried talking to him about it before in a respectful way, but he always tells me (and been telling me for the LAST 3 YEARS) that I need to listen more and observe and do most of the practicing on my spare time and then come in and ask questions. So what should I do about it? How do I deal with him being long winded? Also I personally would like for him to focus more on katas, kisos, kicking, punching drills, etc.. but I feel and understand that I'm in no place to tell him what we should practice. I really want to learn our martial art, but have thought about leaving the club, because I've been feeling that recently I've been wasting my time. Should I hang in there? Should I just practice with the other instructor (afraid that if I were to just practice with him, the head instructor would get offended) What should I do? Thanks <(^_^)>To the two that said I'm long winded. I am genuinely looking for an answer to my question on how I can deal with my sensei (and if u think that has something to do w/ my personality so be it and tell me respectfully) , However, I am NOT looking people who are just being as*holes just to be them.LOL! Now that I think about it, it is kind of funny. I'm complaining about my long winded professor but my question is about 2 pages long, LOL!!!!! I do still think some of you guys are assholes and didn't bother to answer my original question though. more

Resolved Question: What is the biggest mistake your club has made?

Something that, if they could go back and do it over, would have made all the difference. It may be draft picks, letting players go, retaining coaches, etc... For me it is letting Pavlich go. With him in the team instead of McGregor, we'd have easily had a flag in 2005 and 2006 when we made the Prelims more

Resolved Question: Should I go back to grad school? Please read before you answer?

I received my bachelors degree at the end of 2006 and only briefly been in my career of choice (education) as a teacher/coach. My ultimate goal is to coach at the college level. A lot of jr. colleges and universities require that you have a master's degree. My issue is not being able to afford it financially. I could apply for scholarships and federal aide, but would like some advice from some of you who may have been in this situation. So, my question is: Should I work for a little while and go back to grad school in a few years or should I push hard to try to get in immediately (within the next year)? I was always told that if you don't do it now, you will probably never do it. more

Resolved Question: Crows fans why do we lose so many close finals?

2005 First QF final lost by 8 points to Saint Kilda. 2006 Second PF lose by 10 points to WCE give up a 22 point half time lead. 2007 First EF lose by 3 points to Hawthorn give up 31 point lead. 2009 Give up 32 point lead to lose by 5 points. Im not taking shots at the team I love or at the coach but it seems like every year we get so damn close yet we fall short again. I still believe the future is bright though. more
