Open Question: Should he quit his senior year of basketball?

My friend is one of the best players on our basketball team but the coach hates his personality because he is quite. Its out senior year and we are 6-15 with 5 games left and even though we still have a shot at the playoffs our coach told him he was going to play the younger kids over him because they deserve it. Now we won't win a single game and none of the seniors want the younger kids to play up but the coach said he wouldn't barely be playing if at all. Do you think he should waste his time going to practice for no reason or quit?He is a captain already. He is good friends with everyone on the team and everyone can go to him. He's just not in the best relationship with the coach but he already talked to him earlier this year and the coach told him he didn't play much because he didn't seem confident. The next few games he started playing more and we won a few of them and were in all of them. Then we lost one at the buzzer and the next day lost badly. It seems like the coach is blaming it all on him and since everyone usually goes to him he doesn't have anyone to talk about it too. more

Open Question: Saber Fencing Lefty Question/Advice requested?

I'm a relatively new saber fencer (left-handed) and, while the other sabers are great at instructing me in the sport, I have no actual coach. While fencing in tournaments I've come across one major thing that seems to be standing in my way of improving. Parries. I find that a right-handed vs. right-handed bout mainly (not always of course) consists of one or 2 parries, both of which are across the body. In a Left vs. Right I'm faced with having to determine whether the attack will be on the inside or the outside. This is where my fencing is weakest. I'm wondering if there is anything in their body language as they attack, or anything else, that can help me determine where the attack will fall and thus where to place my parry. Also, would love an recommendations on some exercises to increase my reaction time when it comes to parries (or whatever you think may improve them). Thanks! Also, as I have no coach I am very much welcome to advice that may be specific to me as a saber fencer. I'm left-handed and 6'5" tall (196cm), both of which are to my understanding unique in fencing and something I'd like to capitalize on as best possible. I know I'm being very general in my request, but if you know of anything that tall sabers or lefty sabers should take advantage of and should be wary of against others, please enlighten me! I've got a few questions on 'We Are Marshall' that I would like to know about. 1. What sort of leader is Coach Lengyel? 2. Do you think that the actions of Marshall, Coach Lengyel, and the broardcaster's son honored those who died. 3. Much of this movie is dealing with the questions of the importance of winning compared with simply doing your best. The line, "Winning is everything" gets discussed heavily. What do you think of this conceptand the discussions of it in the movie? 4. Coach Lengyel used some very unorthodox methods in his coaching. On the girl's team you can barely even touch them (no bumping), which is pathetic! I play with my dad who is 6'5'' and he checks me into the boards (yea sometimes it hurts but I'll get right back up) I Truly do love hockey,but I don't get to play as much as I want (since I can't help but check) so for next year I was thinking of going to talk to the coach and see if it would be a MAJOR issue or is this a bad idea? I think right now he is barely in the top 5. Id say Manning #1, Brees #2, Roethlisberger #3, Warner #4, Brady #5. Brady 3 rings were as a result of having a great defense (easily top during the 2001-2005 era, and a good o-line, and players who were unselfish such as Tim Brown that contributed on both sides of the ball and special teams). Super bowl 36 in which they had beat the rams was about the defense stopping kurt warner who was the best qb that time, marshall faulk best running back in nfl at that time and best receiving back, and torry holt and bruce which had best #1 and #2 wr combination. Brady had only 146 passing yards (1 touchdown) about 180 less than warner but got it because individually he was the best player however the defense as a whole and kicker more important. Super Bowl 39 was the same thing Pats defense forced 4 turnovers including 2 by Rodney Harrison which basically sealed the game and in this Super Bowl Brady did not win MVP it was Branch who had 10 catches. Also if you look at it once certain teams either added a player or coach the Pats have been unable to win. Once Indiana built up their D after Tony Dungy came to town colts have beaten pats 6 out of 7 times including last time they beat which was a come from behind win in 2006 afc championship. Once Roethlisberger went to Steelers it made them a contender. Once Brees went to Saints he literally changed that Franchise. Notice Pats have been unable to win since 2005 when their defense started to decline and certain players retired even though offensively they have more playmakers like Randy Moss and Wes Walker. more

I know this might sound silly, but I have an inkling that my middle school may be sexist against females. First off, we are a public school in the suburbs of Chicago. Um. I don't know if this matters, but we are in an upper-middle class area. So, here's why I think my middle school may be sexist: 1) Our mascot is a Trojan. No, there isn't anything sexist about a Trojan, but it's just that for all the images that our school uses for our mascot, it's a male. Wait. Weren't the women of Troy not considered citizens? I think that's what we learned last year in 7th Grade world history... 2) The boys locker room is very nice whilst the girls locker room is not. See... The boys locker room was renovated around six or seven years ago and the girls locker room was renovated around the late 80s, early 90s. The boys locker room is clean, polished, and shiny with shiny red lockers and sturdy benches. The showers are not the cleanest, but still clean, and it has a vending machine. The Girls locker room has rusty, stinky, sort-of dirty but still relatively clean, green lockers, gross floors, an ancient shower that no one uses anyway and a sturdy bench. It does not have a vending machine. If you're wondering why I know what the guys locker room looks like, it's because I took a peek during open house night 'cause I was curious to see what it looked like... 3. At the pep rallies, they make a WAAAY bigger deal out of the boys sports. They did that even when the girls basketball team went undefeated and the boys basketball team lost almost every game. For the guys, they were like "WOOO OUR CHAMPIONS!! GIVE IT UP FOR THE BOYS B-BALL TEAM!! WOOOOO!!!!" and for the girls they were like "And the undefeated girls team." 4. We have a super-short feminism unit. It wasn't even a unit. It was, like, half a paragraph in the text book. But I think that goes for every school. Argh. 5. There is only girls volleyball and only the girls are allowed to try out for the spirit team (aka cheerleading and poms) Yes. ALLOWED. Boys aren't even permitted to try out for the team! 6. The wrestling team discourages girls from joining. Girls are ALLOWED to join, but the coach (who is male) warns against it. Well, I don't want my face in some sweaty guy's pits, anyway... 7. Whenever a staff member needs help with moving something, they always say "We need a strong boy" or "Are there any boys willing to help with this" etc. You know, girls aren't THAT weak... Soo... I'm 15 years old, 170lbs, 6'0 and this year i'm going to be on varsity and i don't know if i should stay at running back or go to quarterback. My school produces a lot of running backs (there's at least 6 good running backs going to varsity, not including me) and my brother was the last varsity quarterback and now we don't have any. So should i stay at running back or go to quarterback? P.S. I used to play quarterback when i started playing football. My coach wants me to be 190 by the time the season starts. more

is it easy on the eye ? do you find the way our side plays, entertaining ? Or does Rafa forget about telling his most talented players to go out onto the pitch and 'express themselves' a bit more ? I'm mystified as to why a lot of foreign stars arrive at Anfield and don't quite live up to expectations. Ryan Babel for us, isn't the same Ryan Babel that I use to watch in the Dutch League - he shows glimpses of it, but I guess we'll never find out just how good he is in the premiership if hes not in the starting XI for at least 6 games. Remember Anelka's brief stint at Mersyside ? didn't exactly set Anfield alight did he ? yet without question, nobody could doubt that young lads ability at the time - and today hes ranked amongst the worlds best world class forwards. Remember Harry Kewell not quite reaching the heights for us like he had done at Leeds ? Do I like the way my team plays - and the way Rafa and the club advocates playing the game ? Not really to be honest with you. I find it imensely unsatisfying and fustrating to watch 11 players in Liverpool jerseys struggle to find any sort of rythem or impose any sort of game against their opponents, and passing the ball around the pitch sweetly. Fiorentina destroyed us during the early group stages of the UCL because their mental approach and IDEA of how to play the game against their opponents, was far far superior to that of ours. Carragher was left dumbstruck @ that. Lot of our players after that game - seemed to have made their minds up that 'they were not going to win the league this year by improving slightly' after that game, hell no. They realised thier shortcomings as a side and I guess Rafa's first omen of what was to come was in that game. Against Fiorentina, who lets face it - not only played us off the park but should have won by more than just 2 goals. Criticial b45tard me ? perhaps. what baffles me most is the fact that a young promising portugeuse lad from Sporting Lisbon is brought to Old Trafford, and has the full confidence and support and backing of his fellow players, the coaching staff and essentialy the Manager - to develop and express himself and ultimately reach his potential. A young promising dutchman with plenty of class to succeed and more, in the premiership - arrives on merseyside , 'the next henry' we called him. Well I always use to think this guy would become one of the best players in the world myself (one of the), and I simply cannot digest or compute in my feckin brain whats happened to him and why hes not been utilised properly. Sell him - the guy deserves much better than that. Wasting away his career and youth by not selecting him regularly is unfair and not cool. I don't even feel pleased with scrappy 1-0 wins anymore, cos we create very few clear cut chances - and when we do, they're from set pieces or scrappy play in the box. a win is a win , 3 points is 3 points end of the day. But I'd also like our talented players to be used more and be allowed to express themselves amongst the side. No idea what Rafa is trying to do with the team, or what he wants to them to play like t.b.h with you. one things for sure, least bit excited @ the way we play football. Also, whilst United have fallen from grace (entertainment wise this year) at least they go forward and work the ball and try to play. The dunbar poets have a 6'5 shooting guard slash small forward, I think he should be starting because this guy can flat out shoot it. He didnt have a good game against lake clifton but cmon he didnt play much, he has been doing good this whole entire season. He's avg like around 13 points better than every starter except Derrell Edwards. Jordan retired in October of 1993. The critics predicted gloom and doom for the Bulls. (I was one of these critics). Some even declared that without Jordan, the Bulls wouldn't even make the playoffs. Open Question: Please help, what should I do?

I really want to join the JV cheerleading team next year but most of the current JV cheerleaders are making it difficult for me. They don't want me on their team next year and the only reasons i can think of is that i'm bisexual and a lot of people on their team make a big deal about that, but today my friend told me that a girl on the team told her that they told the coach that they didn't want me on the team and then they started making up lies about me to turn the coach practically against me and the coach said "okay" that she wont let me join. hahaa im an offensive baseliner !/hard hitter. i love hitting the ball hard all the time and going for my shots and redirecting the ball and hitting the good angle when its the right time to and i love hitting the ball early. So I'm a cheerleader;; I cheer for the best team in the world. My best friends everr are on the team with me, and I love my coaches and my squad dearly<3 But, I've been cheering for the team for 5 years and I'm kind of adjusting to everything the squad does and I've found myself expecting everything we're to do and I now know, according to the team's patterns what we're doing in the cheer and I'm always catching on and I feel like other people think I'm a showoff or something. I hate feeling like this, so I consulted my parents. I toured a few squads, and I found one I totally love.<3 The uniforms are gorgeous, they're glittery and hot pink<3 ahaha. Some cheerleaders there told me there's serious tryouts before you can be accepted onto the squad. You must be able to do a front/back handspring and 6 other tricks, and you have to learn a whole bunch of choreography to mix in. I looked through the squad's website and found the requirements, and I fit them. This new team seems a lot more challenging, but I think it's about time for me to move on from my old team. Hello, I'm a high school boys Volleyball Coach. I'm familiar with the 6-2, 4-2, 3-3(very rare) and 5-1. I have a senior and a junior setter who are both very capable of getting the job done. They both also have good skill sets to play almost anywhere on the court. I really want to run a 5-1 due to its versatility and the ability to keep the other team on their toes. But my problem is that I have not been blessed with a lot of height. Even though my guys have good blocking form, you can't coach height. I'm thinking that a way I maybe able to compensate is to use the two setters somehow, yet keeping true to the 5-1. I'm thinking perhaps the other team will forget about the second setter. Has anyone ever experimented or tried to do some modified version of the 5-1, or just something a little more off the trodden path in general? Thanks! more

My bf is a wonderful, sweet man. He is 49, very intelligent. He treats me very well. He has one issue though that I'm worried about. He is chronically, horribly late.
