Coach Station Questions asked

Open Question: Is this an effective workout?

For my basketball team, our workout consists of basically stations. We partner up, then do each of the exercises I am about to list for one minute, trying to get as many reps as we can with whatever weight we can. Then our partner goes, so we rest for one minute, then move to the next station. Here are the machines we do: Lat Pull Down Military Press Chest Press Curls (One bar, free weight) Bench Press (Machine) Military Press (Different Machine) Weighted Jump Rope Dummy Jumps (back and forth over a cushion, trying to explode each jump) After that we go do dumbbell lunges down, then up an inclined hallway. What I want to know is how effective this workout is, and what type of muscle it will build. My coach says it builds "long muscle"? Anyways, I just want someone else's opinion on it. Thanks in advance. more

Hi: I am trying to find out what would be the best and SHORTEST way to commute from Bridgewater, NJ to NYC. Open Question: Do you think overweight people would be interested?

Do you think overweight people would be interested? Do you think that overweight, and obese people would be interested in a gym that caters to them only? There would be 10-15 equally equipped stations with weights, mats, exercise balls, machines etc. and there would be classes every 45 minutes. A class would be lead by a fitness coach who would show each exercise and would check on the members. Each class would be hybrid in nature, a mix of cardio and resistance training. It would be specifically put together for weight loss. The workout routine would change regularly to keep it fun and challanging. more

Voting Question: Why won't my own brother believe me?

Hi, So, he has a bad girlfriend and I don't like her. I had my suspicions before her and I went to see him over the weekend, but they were absolutely confirmed by spending the weekend with them. She made some very weird comments to me that I take as telltale signs she's a cheat and a gold digger. First, on the way down to see him, we stopped at a gas station because we got lost. We asked a police officer for directions, but in addition to the police officer and a few other people being there, there was a soldier in uniform. She made a comment that if she wasn't with my brother, she would have made a pass at the soldier. I was thinking, "no, if I wasn't in the car with you, you would have made the pass". Then, we get to my brother's place and my mom calls my brother and after, she made a comment that my mom calls him a lot. One day she even told him to call our mom so she doesn't call us first. The odd thing is, she stays on the phone with her mom for hours. I don't see what the problem is of my brother talking to our mom. Then, apparently my brother had promised her a bear for V Day, so we go to build a bear and she makes a bear that with the outfit costs almost 50 dollars. He had taken her out to dinner before he left for his new duty station (which was a V Day dinner and like two weeks before this) and that cost him quite a bit. She got him four photos in cheap frames of the two of them for V day. She has asked him for a Coach purse, which he said not right now (but perhaps for next Christmas). He actually even offered to pay off her college loans for her. She said that she didn't want that, but she didn't know what the future holds so she told him that she will have to see. My brother has also taken her mom and her out to lunch and bought her mom stuff as well. These are just a few things that's happened. In addition, she flat out told me on the way back home that when she finishes school she will need health insurance and if she marries him, she can get it (he is in the military and so when they marry, the spouse gets health insurance too). I have explained all this stuff to him and he doesn't believe me. He takes some of the stuff as a joke and the other stuff he thinks I am making up. He even took the messages I sent to him explaining this stuff and copied it and sent it to her and she got mad (of course) and then he had the nerve to blame me for her getting mad. The information was supposed to be between me and him. I have been his sister 22 years and this girl has been dating him 3 months and they even started talking marriage at 2 months of dating. Not joking! It's only him and I so I get protective of him (even if he is older than me). Why isn't he believing me????I am not going to jail because of his girlfriend. I am in school and on a very good track in life, I am not going to mess that up :-) more

Resolved Question: I had a very strange dream about death and heaven. Can you interpret it for me?

Okay, so I had this really strange dream. Me, my aunt, and a friend were on a plane. The plane went straight up in the air in a 90 degree angle. and my aunt said that this is not good, and that we were definitly going to die. The plane went straight down and sure enough we died. I felt the death too, and I prayed before we hit the ground. There was a short pause, and then I found myself in this dark red place, along with everyone else on the plane. Jesus/god then came to us, and he was very enegetic, and happy to see us. He didn't ask us any questions about our life, or anything of that nature. When we entreed heaven through this entrance of somesort, everything seemed like a normal world. I wasn't greeted by any relatives or anyone for that matter. Me and my friend, slept in these small beds at some hotel somewhere. The owner was an african american man with dreads. When we woke up to explore, nothing really seemed that special. All the streets dirt, normal buildings, I believe I saw a gas station. We went to a tball game and we saw some friends of mine and my foot ball coach having a picnic. But none of them ever died in real life. I saw onj the news, on a tv, abouyt our ploane crash and the anchor was talking about how sad it was that 13 students died on a plane crash. I was really happy for some reason, and glad that people felt sympathy for me. Then I woke up in the middle of the night sweating. When I went back to sleepl, there was no more dreaming. But I remember wishing that I was dead, and that I was back in heaven. What the heck does this mean? more

Voting Question: What do you think of this poem?

The Online Lover. City sounds screamed and swirled, Sirens raced through neon world, Shutters shook, while ghost trucks sped Lewd vacant sign flashed deep red. Her laptop buzzed and flickered, While angry parents bickered. She stared at the screen entranced, Red electric shadows danced. Angry voices drifted near, Pa sailed in on wave of fear, “Switch that off!” Screams, floating head. And get some real friends instead. Footsteps fiercely stomp away. Girl opens laptop to play, Hidden under counterpane, Waiting for the storm to wane. Port of safety, sight unseen, Message moves across the screen. Online lover wants to meet, Wild racing heart skips a beat. Laptop lies on tousled bed, Swamped in linen, glowing red. Bedding smoulders in the gloom, Smoky waves surge from the room….. In strip club across two states. Josh, fifteen, but thirty waits. Balding hair and sweating hand, Waiting for his catch to land… At the coach station she waits, Tiny girl by boarding gates, In rucksack sharpened cleaver, Lover Josh will never leave her…Christopher, if you don't understand it emil me and I can go through it line by line with you, if you like. It is quite a hard poem to understand but its meant to be like that. Don't worry I write lots of different styles of poems :) more

I'm coming in from a long haul flight, in Terminal 4, plane is due in at 9.25 am assuming everything is on time how long will it take me to get to the central bus station? Resolved Question: Coaches (especially cheer coaches or tumbling) I need advice on practices?

I coach an all star squad and we had practice Saturday. Well everything was going pretty good. They are a new squad, so they haven't really worked with each other that much, but they all have a cheerleading background. Saturday was our 3rd practice EVER, and right now we have a few girls and guys who can't make it every week because they are coming from a different gym and are still finishing out their season over there. They have been struggling with stunts alot, so I feel that is what we need to practice on more. We spent a majority of the practice stunting.(btw, our saturday practices are 45 minutes of conditioning and then 2 hours of cheer practice) After class I had a dad go to the gym owner (why they can't come to me about issues still bothers me, but whatever) But dad, who used to be a college cheerleading coach and who is still very involved with his daughters cheerleading ventures, said that he thinks I need to run practice differently. Of course, my boss is pushing it because she doesn't want un-happy parents(she thinks that I should just do whatever the parents want). His problem was that he thinks we need to do more conditioning, especially during the week. My kids take a 45 minute tumbling class on tuesdays and a 45 minute stunting class on thursdays. He said that we need to at least spend 30 minutes conditioning during those classes to make sure they are all building their strength to be able to perform well. I would love to spend 30 minutes doing this but if I did we would only have 15 minutes to practice our skills, and with more than 15 kids in each class, that would leave less than a minute with each student. The only thing I can think of is to split the classes in groups and have them do stations. I understand his concerns, and i am willing to change up my practices a bit, but I just feel like he doesn't understand why I run these classes the way that I do. Also, this is the same dad who got very angry when his daughter refused to pull her scorpion while stunting (she was shaking and so nervous, and wouldn't keep her leg straight, so i told her not to do it). I don't want my flyers to be injured, and I know how hard it can be getting used to flying with new bases (i mean this was the 3rd time she has practiced this!). So does anyone have any advice? What is your practice schedule? Should I spend more time conditioning them??? Thanks!!! more

Resolved Question: How can I get a new accent?

I'm from the south, so I have a southern accent. The thing is, my dad's Italian, and my grandmother (on my mom's side) is English. So, while I was growing up, I was exposed to all these different accents. My accent is made up from a mix of southern/english/Italian, and I hate it. It doesn't sound right, and someone once asked me if I have a speech impediment (I don't- I stuttered when I was small, but they worked with me on that.) I can't afford an accent coach, and I don't think we have those here (available to everyone). Are there any websites that could help me with this, or maybe just a news channel station with long clips of them talking, so I could imitate them? I can actually do a Scottish accent pretty well (went there for a few months when I was small, twice), and a completely southern accent (but since I'm in a city, that doesn't help, city southern is different than completely southern). Thanks. :D (And I just asked this in the Languages section, but realized I'd probably get more answers here.) more

Voting Question: Where does my checked baggage go on the Amtrak California Zephyr?

I'm taking the California Zephyr along with most of my belongings on the train. 3 checked bags, 2 carry-ons. Anyway, I'm leaving from a large train station and arriving in a very small one. When I get off the train, do they take my checked baggage off, or do I have to find and remove it from the train myself? I'm traveling in a roomette. Not sure if that makes a difference, but I've traveled in coach class before, and there were those huge compartments on the lower level that held huge suitcases. Are there those huge compartments on the sleeper cars? What exactly do I have to do to get my checked baggage? Thanks. more

Resolved Question: I'm bad at Modern Warfare 2 any tips? please?

I have play station 3 version and my kill death ratio is like 1.12, for me, at least thats really bad, especially with a friend of a ratio of 1.8, like i'll do great one round, the next i'll suck, so i basically stayed at the same ratio, is it that they put me on the crappy team to try and balance it out? oh and by the way i'm a very cautious player, i never just run around the corner, i'll wait for them if they do ever come, i camp on occasions but i never just run and gun, it pisssed me off, i seem to do everything right, but i just have problems when i run into an enemy, like a coach calling the perfect play, but the receiver dropping the ball, would be as good as i can put it. So what should i do different? I normally use a scar w/ a red dot, scavenger, stopping power, steady aim, or famas w/ the same things, should i use silencers/hear beat sensors and camp? any advice to raise my k/d would be great. more

Resolved Question: Is it Referral System found wanting - Flower criticises ICC over Smith decision.?

England coach Andy Flower criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday after South Africa captain Graeme Smith survived a controversial umpire review decision in the fourth and final test on Friday. Smith was on 15 when he slashed at a wide delivery from Ryan Sidebottom and the fielders were convinced he had edged the ball to keeper Matt Prior, calling for a review after umpire Tony Hill gave the batsman not out. Third umpire Daryl Harper then upheld Hill's decision and Smith went on to make 105 as South Africa ended a rain-interrupted second day on 215 for two, a lead of 35 runs. Flower said Harper erred by not turning up the volume on his feed from the stump microphone, adding the England camp could clearly hear an edge on their television sets in the changing room. "I've seen the match referee [Roshan Mahanama] a couple of times today," Flower told reporters. "The first meeting was to clarify the process the third umpire went through in making his decision. "The match referee told me the third umpire has a different audio feed to the television stations but on subsequent investigation we discovered this is not correct. There is one audio feed for everyone. "Mr Mahanama then said Daryl Harper had not switched the volume up on his microphone because they hadn't deemed it necessary, which is why we heard the nick but the third umpire did not," After Khemer Roach, Smith's is the other case. Harper switched off the volume during review. The Referral system is defective. How many of you agree/disagree.Is it not the time for Harpe to hang his coat? more

Resolved Question: How do you stop a bully at work?

People at work think that I never get pissed and that the reason for me not insulting them back is because I am stupid. I want to say something, but I also want to get promoted, and I fear that if I say something to them that It will jeopardize my future in the job if they tell someone about it, or if what I said spreads in the workplace. What do I do to stop it, without making me look bad. I work in Tire&Lube Express in Wal-Mart, and about two months ago I volunteered to help out the Hardware department. I had never worked in that area before and never mixed paint in my life. The employee there gave me a 3 minute verbal tutorial and left to lunch. I was doing ok, but when I was to mix the paint, I put the paint in the mixed wrong and paint went everywhere inside the paint mixing box. I cleaned it up and eventually got help from someone else. Still it was a disaster and the blue paint got on my hands and a few drops on the floor. Which I cleaned up as welll, but the paint was seen and a few people have called me since then "Blue Boy". The word spread and many people think that I am stupid because of the mistake that one day. Which is pretty crappy because I want to be a manager some day and am being coached by my manager on the trade. I work hard and learn faster at things than most people, except when it came to paint. I am quick when it comes to all social interaction except for when it comes to sticking up for myself at work. I want to say, "shut up you stupid fat fuck, before I shove my fist down your throat." I know that would make one employee stop insulting me, or at least start a scene. But I can't. I know the company would say that I should consult with my supervisor, but i also know that if I do, the managers that will inevitably find out will label me as a chump that does not know how to deal with his own problems. I feel like I am about to explode on someone and do something that I regret. A similar situation happened at my old job at a call center. I arrived at work and saw co-worker sitting in my station that is clearly labeled with my name. No one sits in other peoples seats unless they are gone. I gave him a little bit so he could finish his call and move, but while I was waiting, I asked my friends why he was doing it. He said heard me and ended his call and said, "I dont give crap. Who is going to move me." The made me blow up, but before I did I was told my manager who sat in a cubicle not far away, somebody better stop me or make him move, but the manager didnt think much about it and ignored me. I walked over to my desk and yanked his cord from the phone and said, "I will move you", then he freaked out and grabbed me by the front of my shirt and held me up. I did not do anything but look around for someone to stop the idiot. No one came for a few second and my manager hollared, "Let him down" and then the day went on, everyone said i was a panzy for not doing anything. We both got wrote up but neither of us got fired because the worker that did this to me, was a great worker and made the manager look real good. So neither of us got fired because if I got fired he would have to get fired as well. None the less, that is a result of me sticking up for myself to someone who was clearly insulting me way before that transaction. What the hell am I suppose to do at Wal-mart to stop this people from insulting me without crap going down? more

Resolved Question: Did anyone else in the WORLD watch Glee episode 14 this week?

And where can I find it to see it again? Here's what happens: They have a bake sale to raise money for a wheelchair accessible school bus for Archie. Sue ends up donating the money b/c it turns out she has a sister with Down Syndrome; this is also the reason she replaces Quinn with a girl with down syndrome. Puck seduces Rachel because they're both "hot Jews" and the wedding is still on b/t the counselor and the coach, which confuses me b/c I thought the wedding was off...as per episode 13. Also, Puck raises a ton of money for the bake sale by spiking the cup cakes and tries to give the money to Quinn for their baby b/c Finn can't get a job to help out, which also baffles me b/c in episode 13 Finn finds out the baby isn't his! Then Finn ends up finding a job as a wheelchair repair guy (or something) but has to pretend to be handicap. Oh, and also, Sue is in a super great mood in the beginning because she's getting some ass from a guy from the news station. And then she begins training for a swing dance competition with him and has a zoot suit made for herself and then finds out the guy is also sleeping w/ the co-anchor and goes back to being a bitch. And Rachel and Kurt have a sing-off for a part, but Kurt throws it b/c his dad is getting harassing phone calls due to Kurt's sexuality. And Archie and the Asian girl make out, but then he brakes up w/ her because she admits she's not really a stutterer...she made it up years before as a coping mechanism. I'm confused!!! What happened? How did the Emma's wedding go from off in last episode to back on in this one? How did Finn go from being PISSED OFF at Quinn in last episode to being bossed around by her and trying to help her out in this one??? SOMEBODY ELSE OUT THERE HAS TO HAVE SEEN THIS EPISODE! more

Resolved Question: Amtrak Question (details)?

I'm 15 years old and want to travel from Oakland to Los Angeles. Their policy sais that at 15 years old you can travel alone, just need to have an ID with you. I looked the trip on there website and when you plan a trip you can only choose 16+ (adult) - 2-15 is (children), strange but anyways the available one is 11 coast starlight which is a long haul train (12 hours) with beds, food services .... and everywhere it sais "1 reserved coach seat" "1 reserved thruway seat", the thing that i'm asking is do i need to reserve it, or i can buy the ticket at the station and also can there be any suspiciousness on me (like a runaway which is often they keep an eye for i know). Please tell everything you know. more

Resolved Question: Why do many people think that it is a good idea to treat the symptoms and ignore the cause of the problem?

I have noticed that many people (especially politicians) believe in treating the symptoms of a problem rather than the underlying causes. This doesn't make any logical sense. For example, the bank bailout and the stimulus. The economy went into a downturn last year. Rather than look at what caused the problem, the politicians in Washington decided to treat the symptoms. If the banks are failing, according to this view, we do not need to ask why the banks are failing, but rather the government ought to hand out tax dollars to the banks to keep them in business. The stimulus was very similar. Rather than looking into why jobs are disappearing, the Democratic Party (only 3 Republicans voted for the stimulus, all in the Senate; 1 is now a Democrat and the other 2 are considered "RINOs," so it is fair to say that the Stimulus is Democrat legislation) decided to just have the government create more public sector jobs, ignoring the fact that creating more public sector jobs reduces the amount of money in the private sector (as the public sector consumes wealth created by the private sector; the only public sector jobs that turn a profit are the jobs of football and men's basketball coach at major universities), thus reducing the amount of private sector jobs. The Democratic Party's health care legislation is another example of treating the symptom rather than the problem. Millions of Americans are uninsured, so the Democratic Party decided to pass legislation forcing them to purchase health insurance (and increasing the cost of health insurance for the young and/or healthy portion of the "uninsured" by restricting price "discrimination"). This legislation will increase the cost of health insurance for most of the people currently "uninsured," people who mostly have chosen voluntarily not to purchase health insurance and instead to fulfill other needs or wants that are higher on their value scale. Another famous example of treating the symptom and ignoring the cause is the response to the events of 9/11. Rather than asking why the Islamic "terrorists" (of course, one person's "terrorist" is another person's "freedom fighter") attacked us (might it have had something to do with the fact that our country's foreign policy has been pro-Israel for decades and that American military were stationed in Middle Eastern countries?), the Bush administration and both Democrats and Republicans in Congress decided to respond with a large-scale revenge attack, including an attack on Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 and which was run by a secular government that was hostile to al-Qaeda (many people want an attack on Iran as well, even though Iran's Shiite religious government is hostile to the fundamentalist Sunnis that make up al-Qaeda). Does it really make sense for a victim of a crime to go to the ghetto and indiscriminately break windows and burn down homes, hoping to get revenge on the criminal? Wouldn't that just lead to more problems in the future? Why do many people fail to look for the underlying causes of a problem and instead try to go after the symptoms? Why do many people strongly believe in ignoring that which is unseen and instead focusing on the illusions that are seen? more

Voting Question: Travelling by right compartmnet in indian trians i need help?

First I'd like say that this travel forum is wonderful. It's answered so many of my questions. I'll be traveling through India for about 5 months, starting January. Budget is tight, so train travel is how I'll be covering long distances. I have to admit I'm a little scared, being a solo female westerner on overnight trips. I've heard so many stories of being harassed and even groped while sleeping in a berth. But I'm preparing myself and my elbows for some stern backlash in case I encounter an incident. I live in New York City, so I'm used to being aware of my surroundings and projecting a strong front. One question I have may seem simple. Upon purchasing a ticket and waiting for my train at the platform -- How will I know which train car my seat/berth is located in? Is there a painted number on the sides of the train cars, which corresponds with a number on my ticket? I heard that sometimes you only get 2 minutes to board while the train stops at platform...how do I find my car in that short amount of time? Do they display the coach position in railway stations I heard from my freinds its hard to find out the right coach Can some one help me about his? more

Resolved Question: Which of these universities could I get into?

I'm a Canadian sophomore and I'm interested in attending college in the States. As of right now I'm in pre-IB and will be completing the full IB diploma in the next 2 years. I like the idea of a big school but one that doesn't have a campus that's integrated into the city. I would like to know if schools like UC Berkeley/Irvine/Davis/LA (although I know they don't accept many international students), Boston University, american, purdue, oberlin, USC, tufts, northeastern, u of miami, uga, unc- chapel hill I also would appreciate suggestions of schools that I can look into! My main concern with getting into these schools is that I have virtually no awards and I don't hold any leadership roles within these extra curricular groups. Thanks for your time! more
