Making Crosswords Questions asked

Open Question: Some feedback for these characters?

Only got one reply for this question but...oh well, here goes... just some characters from an upcoming Avatar story no big deal. But could use some feedback: Tess Henderson- Mostly runs errands such as getting coffee for example. Tess is a typical red head and part time journalist from Chicago. She's rather even tempered and surprisingly gets along with Parker Selfridge. When she's not on the job, Tess writes short stories and reads 'Digital photography for dummies' Often times Tess starts up a conversation when things get quiet; which has worked a few times. Interests: flowers, kittens, B.L.T. sandwiches, playing scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. Actress of choice- Cassidy Freeman(Tess Mercer-Smallville season 8-9) Gen- Found wandering outside the fence, Gen's parents were taken in and shipped to earth. Some time later Gen was born at a wildlife reserve outside of Tokyo. Having spent most of his life around humans he's rather friendly towards them. Gen's name is actually 'Gin' which is Japanese for silver but due to a typo on his I.D. tag his name is spelled with an 'E' in the middle instead of an 'I'. Gen's stripes are also more silver/gray than dark blue, his hair is diluted black; he also has bi-color eyes. His left eye is blue and his right one is yellow; he also speaks both Japanese and English. Though he might look scary he's been described as being an 'overgrown house cat'. Interests: Running, shrimp, watching the sunset, dragonflies and doing word search. Actor of choice-Jackie Chan Mara- Unlike Gen's parents Mara's are 'domestic'(i.e. like dogs, cats,etc...). Born at a kennel in White plains, NY, Mara has been around humans since she was only a few minutes old. Although she's been mistreated by some of her handlers. As a result she is afraid of people and will either run with her tail between her legs or growl. Mara is mostly on the quiet side but once she's gotten to know certain people she will speak up and enjoys being rubbed behind her ears. Though Mara has black hair and yellow eyes one thing makes her stand out is she has spots like a leopard instead of stripes. Her ears also flop instead of standing up.Mara also has a tendency to chase her tail. Though she is rather jumpy at times she's somewhat even tempered and quiet for the most part. Interests: Watching the sunrise, crickets, steak and playing checkers. Actress of choice-Sabrina Labeauf (The Cosby show) Rita Makaba(Pronounced 'Ma-kay-ba')- Like Mara, Rita's parents are domestic; born and raised in Southern California. Although they interacted with humans on a daily basis, Rita and her parents weren't allowed to go ut in public. When she got older Rita took a course in para legal. Rita's eyes are green and her hair is black as well as her ears. She and Mara also have paw print shaped brand marks on their upper left arms(basically they were branded). When excited or happy she wags her tail(like a dog). Rita is easygoing but has her moments where she 'tells it like it is' she also likes dogs. Interests: Dogs, watching TV, walking on the beach and chocolate(tried it once). Actress of choice- Tichina Arnold(Everybody hates Chris) Richer- A red and white blue eyed siberian husky owned by Norm Spellman. Richer is a show dog from Sna Francisco but hasn't been to a dog show in a while. He's a friendly, outgoing and playful young dog but once in a while trips over himself or gets his collar caught on something like a hook for example. Although he is a husky he prefers sitting on the couch over pulling a sled. Interests: Fetch, watching TV, milk-bones and listening to Ray Charles albums. Voiced by: Cedric the Entertainer(he's done several movies including Maurice the lemur in Madagascar) That's just a few but could use some feedback, another character that's up for consideration is listed below: Kona(At first it was a nickname but then it stuck after a while), she mostly goes by Kona since almost anybody she meets claims her real name is 'a mouthful to pronounce'. Kona is also the dominant female/leader of the eastern sea clan(the one in the pink dashiki in the scene where the group is introduced). Though Kona is pretty laid back she does manage to keep a straight face when she needs to. She's friends with Awakey(aka the horse clan leader). Kona has also taken a liking to Raggae singers such as Bob Marley, Sean Paul and Shaggy as well as Patti Labelle, due to listening to Norm's Ipod(more than once).Parker Selfridge and a few others sometimes call her 'Pink panther' mostly as a joke. Interests: Hiking, walking on the beach, sleeping, chocolate(got a hold of a hersey bar) and dogs. Actress of choice- Dawnn Lewis(A different world) Still don't know about adding Kona to the storyline but she's not the only character being considered. But could use some feedback on the ones here. Open Question: Need ideas to help comfort my girlfriend?

My girlfriend has been sick for months with some kind of autoimmune condition. Her doctors don't know exactly what her disease is, but it has pretty much confined her to her bed. I want her to know that she doesn't have to go through this alone- I really want to be there for her, and I've tried a number of things to try and show her I care. I want to know if anyone has ideas for how I could make her feel better. So far I've tried: -giving her massages to ease her sore muscles -making her signature meal: chicken soup, Meal supplement, and jello -watching movies and Friends reruns (her fav sitcom) -holding her hair back when she's nauseous -playing guitar and singing to her -tucking her in when she's tired -leaving her little love notes when I can't be with her -playing cards and checkers with her (we can't really play many other games 'cause her hands have gotten weak -driving her to Dr appointments and the pharmacy -picking up groceries for the little fridge in her room -working together with her on the Times crossword (she's pro at it) -buying her little gifts once in a while -holding her hand when she cries- (hugging makes her joints hurt) any other ideas would be amazing- I love her so much, and I want to help her feel better. more

Voting Question: Is it weird that I'm an 18 year old girl who does NOT like to party?

I usually feel like I have the soul of an old lady trapped in an 18 year old's body. I like watching "The Price is Right", doing crossword puzzles, reading, going to the movies, hanging out with my family, and baking cookies. Most 18 year old girls are out partying. I sometimes feel like I'm really boring but it's the boring things that make me happy. Is that weird? more

Resolved Question: can anyone teach me how to make a complex excel document?

i want to make an excel document with a table with boxes in it (picture a crossword puzzle) that i can use to track some information for each phone call i make in a day. i want to make it so that i can input a character into the first box, and it will generate a percentage (either 100 or 0) in a separate box below. Then, as the boxes fill with more characters, that percentage will change based upon the inputted character. The goal is 1.9%, and is to be set as 100%, meaning when enough of a certain character is inputted it will signify being over 1.9% in goal. if this doesn't make sense i'll try to explain it another way, but hopefully it does.... more

Resolved Question: Boss takes peoples books/puzzles...?

This is so childish in my mind but I want to find out your thoughts about it... My boss gets into moods and shes in one now. We work at a day care. A co worker does word finds when the kids are SLEEPING only. So now my boss went through the entire room: fine and is keeping anything personal she finds: the puzzles/word finds. She won't give them back or tell the co worker she took them. She told the employee that she didn't want them in her room. But did take out another yesterday: didn't tell employee and won't return it. I'll admit: i had one in my room, crossword. She took it yesterday and hasn't said a word to me. We, employees have had money stole from our purses which are in drawers in the office. Makes ya wonder huh? Is my boss acting childish? I understand it would be wrong to work on them while other things are going on: For the other co worker sometimes there is NOTHING to do. For me, I had it in to activate my brain. I don't need to take it back in and won't. Thanks for your thoughts and I'm problay acting childish too in a way.Yup we can read newspaper/ads and even BOOKS: Like personal books! I know theres ways around it. I hate being bored at work as well and when the kids are sleeping theres only so much bleaching we can do! (I am only a fill in day care "teacher" so I don't have lesson plans) I just wish she would tell us rather then take our stuff and never talk to me more

Resolved Question: What can I do to make my boyfriend's 28-day stay at a mental/rehab hospital better for him?

I am 19 and he is 17- will both be a year older in less than a week. He was asked to go to outpatient rehab by his dad (got caught with weed once, and got messed up on xanax once), and next thing I know friends from our work are calling to tell me they admitted him for 28 days against his will. He is at a mental hospital that also works with substance abuse patients, so I don't know if he was admitted based on substance abuse, mental problems, or both. (By the length of stay I would say both or mental problems.) My boyfriend has problems with anger, depression/self-loathing, and very bad attachment issues towards me (aka smothering). He is also constantly paranoid that he's done something wrong, upset me, mad me angry and that I am going to leave him. His dad, for some stupid reason, hasn't decided if he'll give permission for me to visit him or not. I know for a fact that he is resisting very hard, and very angry towards his dad, for not being able to text, call, or see me. I have been admitted against my will to the same hospital years ago (they lied on my assessment for unknown reasons), and I know how alone you can feel and how extremely bored being in there can be. I want to make it easier on him. I want to support him in his time of need. I hope I gave you enough information. Some things I already thought of were to bring him a book, journal and some crosswords and/or sudoku. more

Resolved Question: Is my mother a "bad" mother or am i "overreacting?"?

Well my mother and I aren't exactly "best friends". I cant go to her for ANYTHING without getting screamed at or getting a lecture(which doesn't help at all). I know exactly what's best for me, which she doesn't realize or take any note of. I read a lot about teenager's and their behavior, i talk to my sister(age 30) who has made a lot of mistakes in her past and she wants me to not make the same ones, and i observe from my friends' behavior and daily lives when i go to their houses. So i know a lot about what i should and should not do. I don't think my mom knows what is tho. Its so hard to talk to her about things. Such as sex and relationships, that "time of month", and just spending time with her. I can't do anything with her because she's so hot headed and she thinks the worst of me. She doesn't think anything is fun. Most girls go shopping and have lunch or get a mani pedi with their mothers. Im stuck at home in my room and she's always watching tv, doing a crossword puzzle, or working. I don't know what to do. I've tried talking to her and getting counseling, but all it was was an intervention and I was accused to being "mentally disturbed" and "seeking attention" by "overreacting". Please help me. I really hope for a mother that actually acts like a mother and less as a guardian.i printed her a copy of this and she just ripped it up. she didn't read it. more

Resolved Question: Homework Help, making your own crossword or word search?

I'm doing a project for English, and i need to make my own crossword and word search. I need to know if there is an easy way to do it. if you know any websites to create them then print them up, that would be GREAT! more

Resolved Question: Please save me some embarrassment from my project, or support what I am doing.?

I am working on a math project that is extra credit. I currently have a 66 in the class from the last time I checked my grades. I like to be creative and funny, and for the puzzle, should I write the definition of the word as the clue or should I make it a word pun? (Example, Mongolian raptors in New York would be velocity because the proper name for a mongolian raptor would be VELOciraptor, and New York is a CITY.) I'm not sure if other students will be filling this puzzle out. I feel as if I do it regular, people would get disappointed and ask me why isn't it more "outrageous". People already know I come up with "outrageous stuff" and I asked my teacher in front of the whole class if I was allowed to use word puns as the hints instead of the actual definition. She said yes, but she also said "as long as they aren't off the wall." I try to make them understandable, but I also make it so that it has easy questions and harder questions. I feel that if I do it my way, I'll be happy about myself that I was being creative and being myself, not the person everyone wants me to be, but what if there is negative commentary on my project? What if I get a lower grade because of it? I feel that if I do it like everyone else probably did it, I'll be happy that I breathed like a normal person for once, but then I'll feel like I was being too mature and more sullen and boring and in a way. The other kids in the class are mostly chavs and jocks; boring to me; I don't want to be a normal person because a lot of people say that the unpopular, more creative kids are the ones that are successful not the popular idiots that probably won't even get half of this stuff. I over-think things too much, don't I? It's a bad habit. It kind of sucks. I'm sure once I click "continue" this is going to be long as hell. So what do you think? Should I be myself and make the best crossword puzzle out of everyone in the class? Or should I just blend in and probably not talk to those kids anyway? I know that making this crossword puzzle won't give me the "path to popularity" but I don't care about being popular I have friends in other classes and outside of school but just for a little joke, I really would like to make this. This is MY AMBITION, to make this goofy crossword puzzle for extra credit, but what do you guys think of the idea? Do other people like this, or am I just a madman? more

Resolved Question: Can I sue Blackberry for my thumb joint pain?

I know that ridiculous. It sounds stupid to type it. However, For over a week now, I have had this crippling pain in my right thumb. It hurts to try and make a fist, covering my thumb with the fist. There's an ever-present low throbbing in the basal joint. Specifically and mostly concentrated in the part of the joint that is in the skin between your thumb and pointer finger. Both sides of the joint are equally sore really. I say it's crippling pain because when I'm in the shower, and try and dispense my conditioner, I usually use the outer knuckle of my thumb when I grab the bottle. When I try and do that, I almost immediately drop the bottle because it hurts...anyways. I was looking up stuff about this pain and found this article: http://www.thumbjointpain.org/ I use my Blackberry often and have been playing a crossword puzzle on it as well. Do you think it's possible to sue the company for the pain? I had no idea that a freaking phone could cause this...Has anyone heard of any lawsuits regarding this? Should I just suck it up and deal? Please no rude answers or I'll report you. Thank you!Ok, so it is kind of dumb to sue. I wouldn't actually do that. Just wondering if anyone has thought of like a class action suit or something involving all of the sufferers because apparently this is more common than one would think. I just think that maybe like telling its users that alot of texting or emailing could result in joint pain or arthritis would be nice. To the first answerer - yes, I reported you. You're not allowed to insult other members. :) It is possible to tell me you disagree with me without putting me down...just see a few of the other answers. I'm sure they laughed, but they didn't resort to name calling. more

Resolved Question: Any good ideas for articles to go in a school newspaper?

I'm a junior in high school and I'm in Newspaper. It seems like we are running out of ideas for interesting articles. We have enough things in there about just current events and upcoming holidays, I'm looking for ideas more along the lines of something that would fill up a page and give the reader insight into something or even make them laugh. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. For people who may have found this because they themselves were looking for ideas, I've written stuff/seen articles written by classmates about: *A Tribute to The Beatles (basically the history of any popular band) *America's Caffeine Addiction *Texting & Cell Phone Clichés *Several Book/Movie/Album/Videogame Reviews *Faces in the Crowd (ask a funny question to students, quote their answer, include face shots) *Weird New Technology *This or That (poll a classroom with "this or that" questions, include questions, possible answers, and winning answers) *A Humorous/Informational Look at Social Networking Websites *How Your Job Can Interfere with School *Fictional Short Stories (great way to quickly fill up a page) *Something each issue over any current/upcoming holiday *Crossword Puzzle/Word Search (if you really need something to fill half a column. You can have these made for you online) *The Dangers of Tanning/Piercing/Tattoos *Spotlight on a student active in the community, or foreign exchange student *Get to Know Your Lunch Ladies (made everyone lol) *Weird New Laws in Your State Just think about anything that YOU would want to read about! more
