Voting Question: What's the best way to image a freshly installed Windows 7 computer for easy recovery?

I'm setting up a new laptop with Windows 7 and it's taking quite a while to declutter the system, install Office, apply patches, update drivers, etc. I've created a system recovery CD so I can reinstall the OS in event of a catastrophic drive failure, but I don't want to have to start over from scratch if I can avoid it. What's the best (easiest / cheapest) way to save an image of this system in its current state which I can easily restore onto a new harddrive if the old one fails? I have a DVD burner and a USB thumbdrive. I've looked at PartImage, DriveImage, Ghost, etc. but they all seem rather complicated. Doesn't anyone have a solution where I can boot off a CD, point the app at a particular partition, and it will either image it to DVD(s) or restore that image from DVD(s)? Any suggestions appreciated. Thx. more

My extended family gives me and my kids way too many gifts. Stuff I really don't want... my 8 year old loves everything she gets, of course. I need to declutter without hurting feelings! hi all I have just had my house redecorated - it really needed it and I saved hard and now its lovely. however i now need to declutter and i cant do it. I find it impossible to throw out nice stuff - even if its going to goodwill I feel I should hang on to it "just in case" for instance i have over 40 pillowcases and 30 pairs of shoes and bags uncountable. please could you tell me the best way you found to get rid of stuff you no longer need. for instance i have a study full of books half of which i will read again - it would break my heart to give them away but with space needed - i have to be brutal. another for instance - i have lots of half used lipstick and makeup pencils should i just throw then away? with two growing daughters (twins aged nearly 4) - i want to teach them how to be tidy and be able to get rid of stuff when they need to. i suppose i am a hoarder at heart and i want to stop. any ideas? thanks palssorry didnt mean to put this in to languages - yes i go to alot of garage sales over here we call them car boot sales - and i have double of everything - i have 4 pairs of half worn tennis shoes 4 black patent leather bags etc etc. i dont have loads of money and i wish i could declutter so i could see what i have and then buy to compliment what i have. we cant write stuff off on taxes here.one of the main questions i have is should i throw out 3 of the half used pairs of tennis shoes and all of the half used make-up - i have make-up going back 15 years - help. i tried that website and am getting hopeful and also less depairing that i am not alone thanks. more

I signed up for flylady.net 2 weeks ago. I thought the concept was a good idea. Since then, I have been way too overwhelmed with all the emails I get from that site. I had to unsubscribe. Even when I go the the flylady website, I feel overwhelmed because it's very disorganized (in my opinion). I know it worked for many people but for me, I need more clear cut instructions, and straightforward daily tasks. Any other free websites that help you to declutter and clean up your home? 2 problems: 1. My home is always messy, washing up in bowl, clothes all over place, paperwork everywhere. I don't like to throw stuff away as have green principles, or think - I might need that old bill for future reference etc, old career details for future job changes etc. I spend all my time tidying yet never seem to acheive much. I've read all the declutter your life books, know u should do "little and often" for housework but still I cant change my ways & if I know people are going to visit I spend hours running around trying to clean, tidy & hide stuff. I want to be better organised & spend minimum time tidying but it whatever I throw away always seems to be the thing I need a few months later, & housework seems such a huge mountain to climb. 2. I'm very creative & want to change career, take new courses but procrastinate forever as cant choose whats best for me. I'm not getting any younger & want to improve my career & home life before I'm stuck 4 life. Help!! more

Resolved Question: Where do I start to declutter my house?

I have quite a bit of clutter in every room. This clutter is mostly paper. There are some boxes and there are some things that belong other places such as the things on the kitchen counters, the things on the dining room table etc. The carpet was removed last November and this caused the furniture to be removed and then replaced. It is not placed the way I plan to keep it; it is just in the house instead of outside. I have so much clutter that it is overwhelming. I start in one room decluttering, but I become overwhelmed because of the seeming lack of progress ( I know that there is some progress, but there is such clutter that I become overwhelmed and stop.) I have tried to take one room a week. I have decided to take my smallest room and then clean and declutter it, but there is so much there that this idea is not working. I need to focus on something smaller just to start. Any help will be appreciated. more

Like 6 years ago, a guy friend who was interested in me made this super cute personalized CD with 12 songs on it that he thought would be cool for us. We never hooked up, but remain friendly the 1 or 2 times a year I still run into him. I think he's a good guy, but just not the boy for me. So, I can't stand the music on the CD. It's like techno/dance/electronica, and I have listened to it all the way through, and ....NO. I don't dig it. To be quite frank, it gives me a wretched headache. I am trying to declutter, and I am getting rid of all my old CDs that I don't like, because it is really important to me to have a nice, clean beautiful home, without clutter and useless junk. It hurts me think about throwing this away though, because it has a personalized label and a cute little picture and sleeve, and the idea that anyone went through that much work to make something nice for me is so sweet. I just love the idea of it and wonder if I throw it out, it will disrespect karma. more

I think I have a slight case of depression but not so bad I need drugs. I really just need a good and effective way to clear my mind and stop focusing on the things that are bothering me. I got a 3 yrs old son and he likes to drag all toy boxes I clean out to our living room and dump them out on the floor everyday.
