I've always been pretty picky about the kind of girl I get with. There is a lot of turnoffs for me... much of the turnoffs are popular traits that the majority of girls have - immorality being the biggest one. I'm a very moral, loyal, dedicated person. I've had a lot of failed relationships - though I learn from them. I think about where I went wrong, and learn from my mistakes if I DID mess up on my part, as well as what to watch out for. In the last couple years I've stopped messing up on my part - it's always been the girl I'm with that ended up being at fault....so it just turns out we don't match up; she can't live up to my expectations, is the short version of why we break up. So... I have very high standards now - it's at the point where maybe 1 in 1000 girls I'd be interested enough to the point where I want to get a closer look at them. But - anytime I date the girls I find tend to have less and less problems than the one before, they get better and better. But, my relationships I get into tend to not last very long. Sometimes I wonder if it's ME and I just can't hold together a relationship with a girl... but then again I'm always stable in the relationship - it's always the girl who starts shaking up and puts the plane on a collision course. The latest problem to plague my relationships is loyalty - every girl I get with is either emotionally mixed up and have major difficulties committing, or is just too wild to be with just me and stay with me. I'm 20 years old - I guess the rest of my generation doesn't feel the same way - but I wanna settle down. I'm a little old fashioned, I'm very clean and moral, but I just want to settle down with one decent gal - I'm tired of dating. My last relationship didn't even hardly last that long - the girl was absolutely head over heels crazy about me-she'd do anything for me, but she ran off to her ex and started treating me like shit! The messed up part is her ex treats her like total shit, and I always was very good to her. What the heck? lol Am I doing the right thing? Is this going to last forever, because I'm tired of it! lolThe reason my last ex broke up with me was because she ran back to her old ex... even though she wouldn't leave me alone texting me how much she loves/misses me after I went home for the weekend for just 30 minutes; then she leaves me for her ex in the next morning, wth lol? But, she told me that she can't live up to my expectations and that's the reason why she left - she even got nasty and said that I'm high and mighty, and I'm a extremely humble guy - I'm very confident, I might flaunt here and there - but I never view anyone as beneath me, I treat everyone the same until given reason to change that. She did this before - I gave her another chance; but the only term I gave her is she needs to remain loyal to me and she needs to start learning to deal with her fear/confusion issues. Apparently she didn't have what it takes...Only ONE time I lowered my standards because embarrassingly I kinda gave into peer pressure and friends invited me to give this gal who was throwing herself at me a chance. Biggest mistake of my life - I'm never lowering my standards again. Bleh... she was nasty too *shivers*I am not a wuss, I can be intimidating as a person in general... but I'm also intimidating in a threating way as well. I'm well mannered and nice unless given reason to stop be - and when I type im being professional, so It's not that - lol. A number of girls were scared of me, one of the reasons for their fear issues... but in time a girl learns I'm gentle and not abusive, but I don't put up with bullcrap for long, then I'll start showing my mean side. more

Resolved Question: How to introduce snail & otto to betta tank?

I would like to add a snail and an otto to my sorority tank (I have 6 female betta in a 20 gallon). I tried putting the snail in the tank and the gals came and statred attacking him - he was floating there and they were nipping at his belly (or whatever the soft under part is). How can I introdue him so they don't attack? Same with the otto. THANKS =) PS - please only answer if you ACTUALLY know - don't tell me weird things like 'bettas shouldn't go together' or anything silly like that. Voting Question: Need advice for single mom with 16 y/o son who is disrespectful & has bad behavior problems?

I'm the aunt of a 16 year old boy who is having some issues. Anger being one of them. His mom (my sister) is a single mom and unfortunately, there are NO men in her life that she can call on for help – no boyfriend/husband, our dad is deceased, her ex is not in the picture (in & out of jail/drug problems), all the boy's male influences from his paternal side are deceased as well. The boy was suspended from school today (and the bus for the remainder of the school year) because he was spraying some sort of spray bottle on the bus. After repeatedly being asked to stop by the driver and a few fellow riders, one kid decided to "make" him stop by starting a fight with him. Police were called, he was written a citation for disorderly conduct and harassment due to the spraying. He was disrespectful towards the policemen involved and had a contemptuous attitude about the whole affair. The boy is also very disrespectful to my sister, and disregards the discipline she hands down. He's physically larger than her and on occasion they have gotten into physical altercations when she'd tried to reprimand him. My sister is currently a full-time student with a more than part-time job, who is also a caregiver for our 75 y/o mother. All this, and she has to deal with her teen boy's loveliness. She tries her best, but obviously is unable to be there full time to monitor his activities, and whether or not he's not cheating on his punishment. (by sitting on his butt and doing nothing she's required him to do) I'm hoping somebody out there can give her/us some good advice on discipline and creative ways to discipline/punish him. She's already taken away the game system, the cell phone, etc. But what else can she do? He doesn't drive. They live 20 miles from the nearest town. My thoughts are these: (and please add or comment on these ideas – I'm just trying to help her out!) • Make him write in very neat printing 5000 times: "I will not be disrespectful to authority figures." • Since they live on 5 acres of overgrown land – Make him clean up the property for at least two hours a day. • Limit/omit the junk food he likes These ideas are coming from me: a single gal with no kids. We need advice from other single moms/dads who've experienced behavior like this, and successfully dealt with it. Her biggest obstacle is that he doesn't listen to her when she disciplines him. What she's saying is good, but he won't listen. And without there being a "man of the house" he has no respect for her. We're trying to overcome that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!! I have an Emglo Air Mate compressor. 2hp electric 4 gal 125 psi. It's about 20-25 years old and I have lost the manual. I need to replace the valve that is part of the elbow where the 3/8 air line attaches to the pump head. I think that part is used on about 1000 different models. It is a male fitting to the head and a compression fitting for the line. ThanksRichard, been there, done that. So I was skeptical with doing the online thing, but I started talking to this girl where we met on a dating site. We hit it off on the site's email, then we went to personal email, and then text messaging. We still do the personal email, though. We met for the first date (which she called it) last Wednesday night. We hugged, got frozen yogurt (her choice there), sat and ate it outside where she was eating out of mine, etc, we talked about ourselves etc for about 1/2 hour, and then drove on over to the movie theater. Well this is the Issue. I have recently met a girl at work. She is just amazing, she is 20 but really has a good head on her shoulders. I am 28. We became very good friends pretty fast and then She came to know that I liked her more than a friend and she confronted me about it. I told her that I really liked her. But she asked me for her to decide to commit to me. That was my first hint that she at least was considering me. Well we decided that we need to become financially become stronger and she needs to finish her education which would take the next couple of years. All the while in our relationship, we have not got to the physical part which I am OK with. I can wait till marriage for that. Now this girl is pretty and has a very friendly nature. Resolved Question: Who's responsible for the leaking gas that leaked out of a leased propane tank?

I have a 250 gal. propane tanked that only runs a standby generator. The generator runs for 12 mins. every week to keep the parts lubricated and the battery charged and it runs at low speed. I checked the tank about 2 months ago and it was on 60. Last week while doing some yard work around the tank I decided to check the tank and it said 20. When the propane man arrived, I asked him to check for a leak because I smelled propane. Now the tank had 5 on the gauge. He said it had a leak at the regulator. The service man changed out the reg. and put in 100 gallons of propane. $300 ouch...I called the company to try to get some type of discount because of the 55 pounds that leaked out and they said there is no way that they can estimate how much I lost. 2 years ago, the tank was full to 80 %. 2 months ago the tank said 60. 1 week ago the tank went from 20 to 5 in three days. The company said it was a fuzz leak (very slow leak that would take 2 years to empty the tank) Question. Wouldn't the leak be smaller as the pressure got lower in the tank? I think if a tank had more propane in it, the pressure would be greater and the leak would be faster. They only fill to 80% because of expansion, which is to allow for pressure increases. Any ideas on how I can convince the company that the leak was faster or am I just looking at everything wrong because of the money involved? more

Don't know why. There was a guy in the studio who was waiting for me to give him what I had on the SD cards. He was on my side. I asked him about foundations to help people like that girl and he told me I'd have to start one myself if that state representative gets her wish. I kept going till I was in one of the rooms with the plastic anatomically correct body that breaks apart so you can examine it, the guy keeps making snide remarks about my background (what my dad and mom do for a living, for example) and then a surprise happens. He just stops being there. I'm left to hold the pieces of the anatomically correct body, examining, waiting for the guy to reappear and his friends to be with him. A woman comes in who is apparently my guy character's really good friend and says she is breaking up coz those people will never leave me alone, and it is tiresome to always worry about sabotage, pranks, and possibly worse. I tell her to just go then while she is still talking and a professor comes in and says Anyone who is not a student needs to leave right now coz I'm not getting paid to babysit. I don't remember doing anything in the shopping mall; it was just part of the campus with people coming in and out with shopping bags. Resolved Question: Long time married people...25+ years...?

My husband of 30+ years doesn't understand why our sons and myself dislike his sisters ( there are 6 of them) as much as we do. It goes back to a situation over 20 years ago. My sons over heard much of what was being said and done to me by these women then teenage girls and 20 somethings. while my man never knew much about it because they made sure that he wasn't home at the time. I would tell him what was happening but he refused to believe that his sisters were doing it plus they involved a gal who was a family friend of my husband's family. I honestly believe they were trying to drive me away so that this woman could take over my marriage. I was very ill at the time as well and nearly bed ridden so I couldn't just up and leave them when they were like this to me. This woman was attempting to attach herself emotionally to my husband too because she was having problems in her life. I told my husband this was happening and he didn't believe me. Our sons were too young to express to him what was happening but they knew. I just kept quiet after I realized that he didn't believe me and finally this woman gave up as well as his sisters. But alot of damage was done to me emotionally and mentally as well as to our sons. There is a wall between us and my husband. We love him but he wouldn't listen to us during an awful time. Last night he hounded me about it until I had had enough and told him right out why.... He choose to believe his sisters and a woman who wasn't even a family member over his wife and sons... that is it in a nutshell. This all happened over 20 years ago but the pain for our sons and myself is still there. I really tried to help our sons get over it but found that they had to find their own healing. My question is.... do you deal with old wounds that can't seem to heal? Have you ever found a way to heal them? I am hoping that telling him the truth and the reality of the situation will help me to begin to get some real healing done. For our sons too. As for my husband at this point I really don't care if he believes us or not... just that he quit badgering us to get along with his sisters or be a part of family get togethers where we have to pretend to be family with people who have never considered us family and treated us like outsiders. Your thoughts? Oh and the other woman was a drug addict and has been in and out of mental institutions since that time. I actually feel rather sorry for her.My sons and I have never talked of this. Resolved Question: Borderline high blood pressure late in pregnancy... What do I do?

I am 38 weeks on Monday and my blood pressure has been running a bit high for the last wk and a day - the highest was 143/92. My MD immediately put me on bed rest with a "watch and wait" approach and I have been going back for check ups twice a wk since then. All of my other tests have come back normal - no protein, blood work normal, great fluid levels on US (lowest 11 cm; highest 20 cm), no signs of infection, "beautiful" non stress test results, etc. I have been having contractions, but as of last check, had only softened a little and dilated to a fingertip! I've been told this can change within hours, but I was really hoping not to be induced,. My MD has told me that if my pressure stays high, we might need to consider doing it before much longer. I am not worried about the baby at this point, but am more worried about being induced. She told me that if the cervix wasn't favorable, I only had a 50/50 chance of successfully delivering without c-section (which is what truly scares me) with an induction. I thought women were induced all the time and had successful deliveries? I never knew about this statistic and it scares me. I know they use meds to "ripen" the cervix as the first part of induction. Do some womens' cervix's still not cooperate and that is what she means by an unfavorable cervix? Or is the fact that she has to use prostaglandin and pitocin at all to jump start things a mark against my chances? Do my chances of successfully delivering go up if she can get my cervix to ripen, even if it's artificial? I hope my question makes sense as I am scared of going this route. We are hoping I'll go into labor on my own, but I'm frankly a little cynical that I'll get what I want. I am using maternity leave waiting for her too and I wonder if it's better to go ahead and try to have her or to keep waiting for things to go naturally. I have a feeling this little stinker is going to make me work for her! Can experienced moms and LD RNs (especially!) help me out with my questions? I know you RN gals are on here! Voting Question: Help please I don't know what to do?

First I'd like to say I'm so sorry if this story is too long. I have a history of redundant writing, even though I try my best! I will try! I have edited it so much already. I always think any details are important and can't omit them. I hope this is okay. I'm a 20 years old Chinese-American gal and I don't know which guy to choose. I was born in the States to Chinese immigrants and when we moved to a different town when I was 6, I met a neighbour-Jim, who was 2 years older than me and also Chinese-American. We became friends and then grew up together and had almost exactly the same interests. We both speak good Chinese as well I'd like to add. As teens we were both very interested in martial arts, watched movies and read books of those types, even took courses and we always practiced together. Yeah.. I'm so tomboy. Haha. We also studied together and alwyas helped each out when needed. I considered him as a brother and thought he considered me as a sister. Oh I definitely should add that we are both a single child. We were very happy then. Last year, I met Terry-he's also a Chinese-American born in the States but he speaks almost no Chinese and is a lot more like an American than Chinese. He started hitting on me and I started to like him. He isn't really interested in martial arts though-he says movies and stuff made it all fake with those impossible stunts. But he's a really fun guy who has a lot of hobbies but only knows basics though. He got me into some-for example cooking, painting, playing piano. It's all fun and we have a great time. I've been going out with him the past year. However, I don't know why I didn't see the signs earlier-probably because I'm young and inexperienced-but since I started hanging out with Terry, Jim has got a part time job and we've been together less and less. I thought it was just growing up, like when I was a child I talk to my parents a lot but right now I never really talk to my parents anymore. And my dad had a best friend as a child-same sex though-but they don't get in touch often now-I've only seen him twice. At first, when Jim and I were together it seemed just like before, but just with less time to spend. Well, last week Terry and I spent V-day together and it was great. The next day, Jim came up to me with a gift and tells me he has loved me for many years but was always too shy to say anything and was afraid of my reaction. He said that when I started going out with Terry he really wanted to say something but felt it would be rude to just step in thinking it's his fault for not saying anything earlier. This point I realized the past year when I was with him, it wasn't just that the time we spent together was less, but the effort he put in when he was with me was less as well. He then confirmed that and told me he was actually quite sad the past year but tried to get over it. He says he eventually decided to give up the beginning of this month and try to ignore his feelings for me but then realized V-day was soon and wanted to do something for me that day and bought a gift for starters. However, the next time I was with him I mentioned spending that day with Terry so he decided to give up again. I remember that day I told Jim, he didn't seem sad or anything that gives me a hint of something wrong. Well what I said in the beginning of this paragraph is what eventually happened.) I told Jim that I was sorry for everything that has happened and that it had never ever crossed my mind to think of him as a lover as I have always considered him as a brother and thought he always considered me as a sister. He says he understands, then says sorry for creating a mess and blames himself again. I told him not to worry and we can solve this problem and hopefully no one will be hurt too much.
