I booked a ticket on Orbitz for a flight operated by an international carrier. When I got the statement online I saw that Orbitz took the booking fee of $21 dollars but did not charge for the ticket. The airline has my reservation and ticket number. On other occassions booking online the charge appears within 3 days. Mind you this was after the three day period for the company(Alitalia) to charge the card. Alitalia got the money from Orbitz or else they would not issue the confirmation as Orbitz sells seats on the plane. Orbitz sees the reservation as booked. It looks like I have a free ticket. It would be odd to charge for something after the fact. Any ideas? Thanks. moreResolved Question: Does anyone have a coupon code for Alitalia?

The booking form allows for clients to include one of these codes and receive a lower price. I am flying with Alitalia in April and all feedback I can find on the internet is absolutely horrible. All I read is that they cancel flights for no reason and charge you to rebook, the bathrooms on the aircraft are smelly, the staff is rude, the food on board isn't edible and they lose most luggage. Is it really that bad? What tips and advice can you give me. I am flying Toronto to Rome to Catania Thanks. moreVoting Question: 2nd person plural formal in Italian?
Ciao a tutti! I'm learning Italian and have received several conflicting answers from my Italian teachers (all native speakers, albeit from different parts of the country) w/regards to what the formal, plural form of "you" to use--in other words, "Voi" vs. "Loro". So, in your opinion, which form would you use in the following situations? 1) An Alitalia flight attendant addressing (multiple) passengers; 2) A university professor addressing his/her students; 3) A waiter taking orders at the table; 4) A teenager addressing two elderly ladies (say, over 50 yo). I'd really appreciate it if a native (or near-native) Italian speaker would clarify this for me! Grazie mille! moreResolved Question: how do i check if my seat is close to the entrance door? could i assign it myself?

I am flying a long itinerary in about a week. My first two flights are on Iberia. My last two are on Alitalia. My departure is from Bilbao, then to Madrid, Milan, Rome, and finally Chicago. I have two questions: -My layover in Milan is 13 hours, I will be staying in a hotel. Do I need to pick up my bags and then recheck them the next morning or are they checked through? -Iberia allows 23 kilos per piece of luggage but Alitalia allows only 20. Which should I plan for? Thanks! moreResolved Question: airplane food & more survey(:?
ill be flying for RDU [Raleigh Durham] to LHR [London Heathrow] this tuesday(: im flying AA, coach and just as a survey, tell me: 1. Whats the best airplane food you've ever had? Mine would have to be last year when i was flying from LaGuardia to Germany they had really good pesto chicken, rice soaked in broth, & steamed veggies. that one was DOWN RIGHT good food.(: 2. The worst? A few years ago, i had flown from O'hare to Zurich and they served either chicken pot pie that looked very unedible or some kind of stew. i chose the pot pie, it was horrible! 3. The best airline snack? The same flight to Germany last year, they served Haggen-Dasz ice cream. everyone had their own container & it was delicious! vanilla with chocolate chips(: [this was in coach too!] 4. The worst? Beleive it or not, i was flying Alitalia and they served these old carrots in a bag! the meals were good but the snacks, terrible. The carrots were browning. 5. The best airline seats? On the way back from Germany that same year, i got really lucky because i was in coach class & i was reading my magazine & suddenly a hostess came up and asked me if i would like to move up to first class at no cost. of course i went(; it was great! 6. The worst? i flew with delta and i got the very back seats of the plane in coach. they had ZERO reclining area, & NO room for my feet. [mind you i have VERY long legs but even for the average person it was too little] 7. The worst situation? i was coming back from Paris last year and i flew to Altanta & i had to get to Charlotte, NC. we got in the plane and the a/c did not work, AT ALL. everyone was sweating, the engine wouldnt start, kids were crying, a couple of people fainted, some thrw up. so they let up get out and they delayed the flight for 8 hrs. it was supposed to only be 2. so there i was, 2 in the morning & i was going to book a hotel but they finally called teh flight. it was still scorching though. AWFUL. 8. The best? the one to Germany, it was also on a Boeing 777 which has tvs in economy class(: [for each individual]Mergim!(: yeah im going on the BA. that would be amazing if i saw you. haha. same flightt. coach, business, or first? im in coach. moreResolved Question: Alitalia flights in '09?
So a private company is taking over Alitalia. Will this affect their flights in 2009? I only ask because they said they are putting off the transition until after christmas '08 so delays don't occur during the peak travel time. So this means there will be issues with flights when they do change? I've researched this a great amount and anything on this topic is out dated.thanks for the reply...maybe I should have been more specific with my question though. **What does the new aquisition mean for the flyer in the next year - specifically in the first few months. Delays perhaps? Cancelling of flights already booked? moreResolved Question: Can I leave the airport during a layover flight?
Ok, so Alitalia has changed my flight itinerary like ten times. This time I have a ten hour layover flight in Rome. Is it possible for me to leave the airport and see the Coliseum very quickly? If so, how far is the Coliseum from the airport? moreResolved Question: Has anyone flew recently using Alitalia airlines?
I have a flight scheduled to Dec. 13 via Alitalia airlines, and I hared that the airline company has been having some troubles, has any of you been on an Alitalia flight recently? moreResolved Question: Alitalia good airline?
I will be traveling to Rome next month. The only choice I seem to have for a non-stop flight is on Alitalia airlines. Is it a good airline? I know they are currently striking and have heard this occurs fairly frequently I don't really want to be stuck at the airport. Any reviews? Thanks moreResolved Question: Alitalia is going bankrupt? ?
It is from Amsterdam to Rome then to Sao Paulo and much cheaper than any other flight we have found out there. Should we buy it? Will they just cancel it later. Too big of a risk? Any advice? Thanks! moreResolved Question: Airfare trends - should I?
Ok, here's the deal. I've been watching the airfares from EWR to TLV (round trip) for middle of January, as I need to make that trip. As of past few weeks the prices seemed to be steady around $1000 on connecting flights from Air France and Alitalia, and $1300 non-stop from Continental. Just now I checked, and while connecting flights remain the same price, non-stop from Continental dropped $100 to $1200... Can someone familiar with the subject advice, whether I should expect: - The drop to be temporary and I should grab it ASAP - The price to stay the same for non-stop, so I need not rush - The price is likely to drop further for non-stop, so it's better to wait I do remember that last time I flew this route (2005) the non-stop on CO was just $100 or so more than connecting flights. Should I expect the price to drop to this level, or not this year? I'd really appreciate if people who don't have a good idea refrain from just guessing for earning those 2pts.... If you really want those points just say so without misleading suggestions, deal? Thanks in advance! LEM.Thanks, snvffy! I know about farecast, but it seems to give predictions for specific pairs of cities only. The two I am interested in aren't there (not even with broader NYC as opposed to EWR). If I enter the cities and dates only, it'll give me fare listings valid for purchase right now, which I know already... Or... I may be looking in a wrong direction, in which case I'd ask you to point me directly at a link I need to check out. Thanks again! LEM.Darts... Decided to give it some time, and as of midnight tonight, it's back to $1300.... Delta still has 1210, but out of JFK and very bad timing.... And I collect frequent flier miles on CO anyways.... I guess I'd just have to keep my fingers crossed it drops again eventually.... moreResolved Question: Alitalia Help!! Delayed flights which could have resulted in missing a plane?
Two days ago my aunt came back from Italy. Her flights were: from Catania to Rome and then from Rome to Sofia. However, the Catania-Rome flight had delayed by more than 1 hour and it meant that by the time she would have got to Rome, the plane to Sofia would have already taken off. Then my aunt was told that she would have to get on a plane to Vienna and afterwards fly from Vienna to Sofia. So if she hadn't had any problems, she would have arrived in Sofia at about 6pm but because of Alitalia she was in Sofia at 23:00h. She nearly missed her flight to Sofia and didn't have where to sleep that late in Sofia... So, my question is: Can she receive a compensation and how can she do that? Thaks a lot! :-) Thanks for the numerous answers! :D moreResolved Question: How much does Alitalia charge for a date change?
I changed my flight dates today so that I will be leaving Europe in June 2009 rather than on October 15, 2008. My reservation has been changed with STATravel, the agency I used; they only charged me $35. I've heard varying sums in reviews and forums and a search of the Alitalia site yielded nothing, though I may have missed it in the 'fine print' I downloaded. My mom is paying for this change for me and if she's going to have to drop a lot of cash, I want to just take care of it myself. I expect between $100-200, any more than that seems ludicrous. Hope someone can help! moreResolved Question: How can i claim my money back for flight tickets bought from Alitalia who may go bust completely this week?
• We paid for the flight tickets by debit card not credit card. • I have travel insurance with 'insure and go' not certain it'll cover. • How can Alitalia airlines pay back the money to you when they're already bankrupt? • Anyone is/was in the same boat as me? • Airline tickets are promotional tickets • booked directly via Alitalia website moreResolved Question: Why doesn't Emirates Airline fly to Amsterdam?
Why doesn't Emirates Airlines fly to Amsterdam? They fly to (almost) every capital in Europe,so why not to Amsterdam? Maybe they have some kind of deal with KLM who has direct flights Dubai-Amsterdam vice versa? Most comfortable and cheap is now Turkish Airlines through Istanbul transit. Alitalia I wouldn't recomment now they are almost broke!! Maybe other option? moreResolved Question: I want to go on holiday to Tunisia . I like historical sites not beaches which part do i go to(airport also)?
me and my family booked to go to egypt in dec but unfortunatly we booked with alitalia and its in bad shape and we fear we will have to book another holiday, as the other flights are now sky high the next holiday we can afford is Tnisia but were not sure as we prefer historical places not beaches. if you think tunisia would be good for us please let us know and which part we should visit including which airport will be closest. moreResolved Question: Which Boeing 777 does Delta use from MIA to FCO (Rome, Italy)?
I'm planning this trip perfectly (somewhat out of boredom) and really wanted to know. My final destination is VCE but I want to fly on Boeing 777 badly, so I'm probably taking this flight with Delta. On the website it says Delta uses Boeing 777 but it doesn't specify 777-200ER or 777-200LR. Are there great differences? And are Delta's 777 better than Alitalia's? moreResolved Question: Alitalia flights via KLM?
I booked return flights on Alitalia online for my wife and myself from Glasgow to Venice via Amsterdam on 22 December 2008 returning on 27th. The carrier turned out to be KLM ( Alitalia's partner ). I keyed in my booking reference on KLM site and it showed up as being a confirmed booking. Can I really be assured that this is so ? I have not received a reply from KLM or Alitalia to my electronic communication. moreResolved Question: MD 80 crash/fire in Madrid.2 crashed in 1997 out of 934 MD80 in service. Is this crash rate unacceptably high?
Operational history In August 2008, a total of 934 MD-80 aircraft (all variants) were in airline service, including American Airlines (304), Delta Air Lines (118), Alitalia (74), Scandinavian Airlines System (44), and Allegiant Air (35). Other operators fly fewer numbers of the type.[4] 16 August 2005; West Caribbean Airways MD82; near Machiques, Venezuela: The aircraft was on an international flight from Panama City, Panama to Martinique when the crew reported to air traffic control that the aircraft was experiencing some kind of engine problem and requested a descent from cruising altitude of 33,000 feet down to 14,000 feet. The crew later reported that both engines were experiencing problems and that the aircraft was not controllable. All eight crew members and 152 passengers were killed. Fatal Events for Airlines from Latin America and the Caribbean 16 September 2007; One-Two-Go Airlines MD82; Phuket, Thailand: The aircraft was on a scheduled domestic flight from Bangkok (DMK) to Phuket (HKT). After landing, the aircraft skidded off the runway, impacted several trees, and caught fire. There was reportedly heavy rain and poor visibility at the time of the crash. There were at least 89 deaths, including 85 of the 123 passengers and five of the seven crew members. Fatal Events Involving Asian Airlines 30 November 2007; Atlasjet MD83; near Keciborlu, Turkey: The plane was on a domestic flight from Istanbul to Isparta when it disappeared from radar screens. The crew had requested permission to land shortly before the aircraft crashed in mountainous terrain near the town of Keciborlu, about 12km (7.5 miles) from the Isparta airport. All seven crew members and 50 passengers were killed. Description: Audio (MP3), Video (MP4, WMV, YouTube) Fatal Events Involving MD80 Series Aircraft Fatal Events Involving Atlasjet 20 August 2008; Spanair MD82; Madrid, Spain: The aircraft crashed shortly after attempting a takeoff for a scheduled domestic flight from Madrid to Las Palmas in the Canary Islands. Early reports indicate that one of the engines caught fire during the takeoff, the aircraft became airbore, and that the crew set the aircraft down in a area to the right of the departure runway. The aircraft broke up and caught fire. Should read 2 MD 80s crashed in one year, 2007 (not 1997). moreResolved Question: Any bad experiences with Alitalia?
I've flown Alitalia a few times. I've always been disappointed...always. One time: the seat was damaged and wouldn't support my back properly. Imagine if there was a runway accident...person sitting there and behind doesn't stand a chance. The attendents are unfriendly and uncaring...they text on their mobiles while leaning on headrests during the flight and chat with each other in the middle of aisles like they're in a bar. One flight I had to tell an attendent to wake a man up so he could straighten up the seat on landing...the little old lady behind him was getting worried...but looked scared to say anything. The stewerdess looked at me like to say "...why don't you mind your own business". Nice. Another time I took the early flight (set up for business people to get to Milan for meetings)...the flight was good and better than usual but it was delayed taking off for nearly an hour. Another time I was in my seat and looked up and noticed a giant cobweb dangling down full of dust......needless to say I skipped the meal. Alitalia are bankrupt and have been for a few years now. They float thanks to a million Euro a day subsidy thanks to the government. What gets me and the reason I bach them is because the staff worry about their jobs (or so the papers say) and yet do nothing to try to get more passengers...they are rude, horrible, un-professional and frankly deserve to be without a job and Alitalia not to exist. moreResolved Question: Flights to Algiers?
I urgently need as cheap a flight as possible (any route) from UK to Algiers. Anyone got any bright ideas that will see a return ticket costing less than the £450 I've been quoted so far?! I need to travel somewhere between the 14th-17th July and come back about 10 days later. Have tried Alitalia and Air France, but just as expensive as Brit Airways or AAlgerie. hope someone out there has an idea.... moreResolved Question: Alitalia Entertainment?
I am going on a flight from LAX to FCO (Rome) on the 7th Departs at 3:30 my body time Arrives at 12:20 rome time and (3:20 AM my body time) SO two questions: 1) Although having absolutely no insomnia problems at all, my doctor recommended taking an Ambien CR shortly into the flight to get rest and move my bodyclock to that of Rome's. 2) What type of entertainment is aboard the long Alitalia flights? Are there individual screens? Thank you. moreResolved Question: Middle name forgotten on air reservation on oversea flight... problem or not?
Hi, I've booked an award flight for my fiancée from the USA to Italy, roundtrip. Her name is Jennifer Dorothy Heartfield. On her passport there's written Jennifer D as name and Heartfield as surname. When booking the ticket, I provided only Jennifer Heartfield as her name, leaving outside Dorothy. Will that be a problem? I called the airline (Alitalia) and they told me it's not a problem on their side; the problem can be on custom's side, so I would need to check with them... What do you think? Should I modify the name (and spend 120 usd) or not? thanks! moreResolved Question: What does Alitalia's business problems mean for travelers?
I need to fly to Albania, and virtually all flights to Albania from my closest airport in the Northeast U.S. have a connection in Italy. Which means Alitalia pretty much has a monopoly on my flights choices. Any ideas what might happen to these flights in light of their dire business situation? I don't want to buy a ticket and be left stranded.I appreciate the other suggestions, however I should have specified that I would like to leave out of Newark. JFK has consideribly more options (ie Malev, Austrian, etc.) but Newark is more limited. I have found a fare through Continental that is reasonable for when I need to go. Regardless, it will still be interesting to see what will happen with Alitalia considering I need to travel to Italy and Albania on a regular basis. moreResolved Question: On ALITALIA flights you will NOT find something that you find on any other flight. What and why?
It does not involve safety, security, uniforms. moreResolved Question: I'm so tired of Italian politics and economics. Do you think London offers more career chances?
I used to be a flight attendant for Alitalia, which is about to disappear, like every other Italian asset (thanks to idiot Berlusconi but also left parties, everybody's involved). Now I wanted to work in a hotel again, but contracts and salaries are s**t. I'd seriously like to move to London, do you think I could get better salary and career chances?@SAM: english politicians mught be incompetent, but italian ones are mafia members. 70 already condemned people out of 630 parliamentarians, and many other under trial. Taxation is VERY high here too, the difference is that taxes here aren't used for public wellbeing, but for our "managers" and CEO (they make a company fail, and they escape with millions of euros). It's a long story. Anyway, the point is that I don't want to be exploited on the job. I don't know, I'd only like to have other opinions, thanks! moreResolved Question: Will Alitalia remain open?
