So far I can't find a really good place to get cheap tickets, they're all around $800-$1000 and I know that's probably about average but I'm very broke so I was hoping to find something better... I looked at Expedia, Travelocity, HotWire and Priceline but ticket prices are $1600+. I always thought traveling to Europe in the winter was cheaper? I was looking to go to Nice in early December, one way, because I don't know when I'd be coming back. And I was either looking at flying to Nice or flying to Paris and taking the Euro-rail because I thought it might be a cheaper option, seeing as how there are probably more flights to Paris daily then to Nice. well im no geography expert so please excuse if it sounds daft , but basically was looking at a few maps and have a globe is it possible to get a ferry or train from the uk , to france(or any mainland europe), then get a tran from france , travel right acroos europe , right through russia , then travel from russia through china (as there does not appear to be any ocean seperating these places), travel right down to hanoi and then get a train to bangcock? daft i know but has it been done? and how long did it take ? am just crious if anyone has done this or something similar without flying there and would it work out cheaper than a flight? more

I'm going to go away for about 2 months travelling alone on a gap year. I live in the UK. I can either choose to do Dubai, Singapore, Oz (Sydney, travel to Melbourne), NZ, (Christchurch and Auckland) and LA or travel round Europe with Interrail. Europe will be about £1000 cheaper (flights come to around £1300 for RTW). Europe would include Spain (Barcelona, Madrid), France, Sweden (Stockholm), Croatia, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Greece. I have the money for both but don't want to throw it away. Backpacking alone is common but sounds like it could be dodgy so that may be a plus for doing the cheaper option. more

After many years of partying I have decided to be kind to my body for two whole weeks before returning to a high pressure job, with not but rich food and booze for substanance. Question is where to go with out spending a small fortune, Thailand or somewhere a bit closer to home, as its a long away to haul myself just to starve myself and get beaten up by thai massages ladies. Not to mention all that carbon in the stratosphere. I have been looking at Thailand by the cost and found a few places which are pretty cheap USD700-800 for 10 days of the full works. Voting Question: I'm going to Spain in September but only have a one-way ticket. Is that a problem?

I'm going there to take a TESOL class which only lasts for one month. After that I plan to visit friends in France and Germany so I don't really plan on flying out of Spain. I know I can stay in Spain for 90 days but I'm confused with that number. Is it 90 days in one country and then continue on to somewhere else for another 90 days or all of Europe total? I've also found some pretty cheap flights out of London to SFO so I think I may go with those if I absolutely have to show proof of a paid return ticket. I live in Singapore (it's in Southeast Asia NOT China) and I intend to backpack across Europe with three friends for 2 months in a couple years' time, from mid-June to mid-August. I will be around 19 then, is that too young? This may seem ridiculous that I'm planning so early, but I have some queries. The itinerary: Singapore -> Greece -> Italy -> Switzerland -> France -> Germany -> Austria -> Singapore Basically the only flights will be from Singapore to Greece and Greece back to Singapore, the rest by Eurorail. How much will the plane ticket and two-month train pass be altogether? How much does one spend in a day on average, if living in student hostels and cheaper food? How much is other transport within the countries, and tourist sites? Lastly, how much would the entire trip cost? I need a rough TOTAL SUM, including flights, necessities, etc. I would really appreciate these figures in Singapore dollars (online currency converter)! Forgot to add, how exactly do I pack light? I'm looking to go sometime in the next year. Flights look cheapest in January, but will it be too cold to enjoy wine country (Bordeaux)? What are the cold temperatures in France? This summer I'm planning to travel to Bangalore, India. I notice there are flights with layovers in many places from Delhi, India to Paris, France. To me it seems silly to fly into a city and right out of it, so I think it would be nice to spend 2 nights or so in one of these layover cities.
