Open Question: WW I or WWII book help!!! on wings of eagles? flight of eagles?

I've been Googling this for a while with no luck. I used to own this great new age CD full of calming, peaceful music titled "Daydreams". I'd bought it at the LL Bean in Maine, it was on a CD rack with several others by the same artist. One of them might have been titled "Journey of the Spirit" or "Journey of the Soul" and another may have been "Flight of the Eagle" or something similar, but I can't confirm that one 100%. So about 8 years ago, my CD collection was stolen. I wasn't familiar with the Internet, and LL Bean said it had been discontinued. I'd love to hunt it down on the Internet, but I can't remember much about it. If anyone has any information at all about it, it'd be a huge help! It used to help me sleep at night, and I could use some good nights of sleep in the next few weeks very much. moreResolved Question: Do you recognize this raptor?
Soaring/circling/hunting as a pair well above the highest trees (crows take flight), wings come to a point midline not to trailing edge, pronounced tail fan, white tail, black other (from below with strong winter sun). Not eagle-sized but not small either. :) Not sure that's enough to go on. St Paul, Minnesota. They didn't stay too long. What do they eat? Thanks for the good answers. I'll keep the question open for a few days to let you know what I find out locally, if anything. moreResolved Question: What do you think of these 9/11 facts?
This is all about 9/11 I think this is mainly coincidence or the terrorists way of diverting our minds. What do you think? I'll listen to any opinions. 1) New York City has 11 letters 2) Afghanistan has 11 letters. 3) Ramsin Yuseb (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) has 11 letters. 4) bill clinton has 11 letters. This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting: 1) New York is the 11th state. 2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number 11. 3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9+ 2 =11 4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers, was carrying 65 passengers. 6+5 = 11 5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 = 11 6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11. Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind: 1) The total number of victims inside all the hi- jacked planes was 254. 2 + 5 + 4 = 11. 2) September 11 is day number 254 of the calendar year. Again 2 + 5 + 4 = 11. 3) The Madrid bombing took place on 3/11/2004. 3+1 + 1 + 2 + 4 = 11. 4) The tragedy of Madrid happened 911 days after the Twin Towers incident. Sheer coincidence..?! Read on and make up your own mind: Now this is where things get totally eerie: The most recognised symbol for the US, after the Stars & Stripes, is the Eagle. A Spiritual Journey Across from the mountains, A little house sits in the tree's, I'm lost in tranquility, As my soul tries to breath. White clouds moving slowly, The breeze a calm still, I'm caught in the moment, As my heart starts to heal. A piece of me, In the startling blue sky, As I spread my wings, My soul starts to fly. I fly to unknown places, Where pain and hurt once dwelled, As the memories flow pass me, My eyes start to swell. Tear drops drip slowly, Down my cheeks, The wind wipes them dry, And gives me some peace. Soaring so free, Over water and land, My Spirit Guide gently, Takes me by my hand. He shows me what was, And what's meant to be, And why my life, Is so important it seems. A long soar, Like the eagle high, I bow my head, And I start to cry. Back on the land, Across from the tree's, I began to realize, What healing means. It mean's not to forget, Let the past flow, Of all the horrors, One soul had to go. To take the strengths, And apply them to life, Is a valuable lesson, I've learnt this flight. Alone in the sunset, I watch it go down, When I finally realize, What peace I have found. moreResolved Question: Please help me with a 'Just like me' poem.?
this is my poem: My eyes are like coffee, brown, comforting and warm and when you look into them, you’ll see my restless soul, free and independent like an eagle soaring through the sky. In my clothing I’m like a Buick Century a little old fashioned but with good taste. When I set goals to myself I’m like the Queen at a chess game, don’t get in my path or you might as well disappear. My life is like the twilight, for as the twilight is an intermediate between day and night, so is my life between randomness and normalcy. I’m like a phoenix; no matter how many times I fall down, I will get back up on your feet, I’ll rise out of the ashes and take flight again I’m like the first rain after a drought, full of hope for the future and thankful for the present. But I can't quite make it fit and sound good...I can't use 'I'm like" many times and i'm not a good poem writter...could you please help me make it fit? changing the order of the verses aand if you see it fit, change the word. plaes! moreResolved Question: want to know if this sounds good or bad-you dont have to read the whole thing, if you want to thats fine?
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s The Day is Done is a carefully concocted potpourri of symbolism, imagery, and the surreal. He begins with a shift between binary oppositions, and moves to a didactic-like schooling of the culmination of day. The poetry is fluid throughout; Longfellow shows flashes of brilliance in four-sided stanzas. The impact of his words is perpetuated by a seamless and complete formula. As the fourth line completes the stanza, the reader completes a sort of “visual” cycle. Each stanza is a four-sided cube, of which each side communicates different aspects of his descriptions. As the reader sifts through each side of the cube, they are connecting the acquired visuals to form a whole by the culmination of the stanza. Using internal retention, and selective protention, the reader summons their past experiences to dissect Longfellow’s metaphors, further creating an image for themselves. Using this formula, along with a hint of phenomenology, we can identify the strengths and effects of Longfellow’s words, and in turn form a comprehensive understanding of what it means to “read poetry”. His opening lines are ideal for this examination, as they refer to the visual cues that rely on the concise nature of the stanza to achieve maximum effect. The act of reading poetry, particularly for Longfellow, should involve a sort of ‘calming’ reading effect, as well as concretizing the visualizations that develop naturally. Each dimension of Longfellow’s “poetic cube” has a striking effect on our consciousness. The first four lines, for example, are consciously read as a simple (though dark) metaphor for the changing of night and day. Still, the subconscious reader, already by this point, has begun to identify visual stimuli. This sort of visualization bears no importance to logic, reason, or the intellect, and has instead summoned a creation of personal illustration. This is to say, that Longfellow has given us the paint, and with our canvas (mind), we can begin to sculpt for ourselves a type of relatable and creative visual guide. In this guide, Longfellow carefully leads us as he provides us with the means to produce illusion. The word ‘poetry’ comes from the Greek word Poetes, which means “to make”. True to the definition, Longfellow has enabled himself, as well as the reader to “make” or create. The reader grazes over the first stanza and likely remarks their fluidity, but is largely unaware of the subconscious visualization and cues at work. The reader digests Longfellow use of words like “darkness” and “eagle” and recalls these words as representations of a generalized reality, in which certain images and objects have an iconic reference point. These words translate into images, emphasizing the ideal or symbolic “darkness” and “eagle”, and are the foundation for the reader’s visual interpretation. Essentially, for the lone mind, these words create visual imagery that is based on one’s sense of iconic representation. Longfellow has combined various noema in this first stanza very effectively to create the visual medium which will guide the reader as the poem is read. In this, the abstract idea of “The end of day” becomes concretized, and the reader has fallen headfirst into Longfellow’s didactic teachings. This idea stems from Edmund Husserl’s Phenomenology, in which we are visualizing these noema, and using the process of constitution. A reader goes through this process by both “protention” and “retention”, which is how we imagine his visuals in our mind based on our experience (retention), and the projection of the new experience (protention). This process is crucial in understanding how the visual cycle works. We use retention to recall the symbolic creation of the “eagle”, and “protention” to accurately connect the action of “wafted downward” as being consistent with an Eagle’s flight pattern. Thus, this visualization is not only breathtaking, but successful from a psychological standpoint. Of course, this is all subconsciously based, since the process of constitution boils down to synapses and brain signals that are split second in nature. The first stanza also suggests that night falls upon the daytime slowly and gracefully, eventually enveloping all that exists. The reader is able to imagine these lines because Longfellow has given a vivid and concise glimpse of the passage of time, which is the noted binary opposition “shift”. As a reader, the periods before and after sunsets are recognizable because a human qrecogizes change, as objects become dark and when light is fading. Recognizing this shift is vital to the digestion of the lines and fluid imagery, due in part to the experience and retention of these ideas. One who has not seen the end of the day, would not be able to fully visualize this important moment. For general purposes, this shift is well recognized. Yet, it is also defamiliarized, as his lavishing poetic description of this particular binary opposition seems unpr moreResolved Question: Please review my cultures essay on aviation, ..Kinda long...?
I wrote this for my writing class, and the first time I kept trailing of the subject. My teacher told me to write it again... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated And if you are a pilot or a person in the aviation field, please point out if there are any mistakes on my part, about the facts of the process of becoming a pilot, and how to make parts more simpler so a person not knowing aviation would understand Or just tell me how I did overall. Thanks! [: Cultures Essay Since a young age, I have been steeped in the culture of aviation. Ever since I could remember, the sound of metal birds never escaped me as I craned my neck and gazed intently upwards trying to spot the tiny speck in the sky. Whatever I was doing was quickly pushed to the back of my mind as my eyes followed airplanes. The roaring power always filled my body with an overwhelming feeling of connecting with the extraordinary flying objects, and my heart would pound with amazement. My eager eyes never wavered as my gaze stayed locked on the majestic ships. Thousands of feet above me they flew, leaving telltale strips of white, sliding behind clouds, trees, buildings and finally the horizon. Always they were escaping my vision, yet never did they escape my heart. I have always lived in the general area of three major airports- Portland International Airport, Troutdale Airport and Hillsboro Airport, also several military bases, which brought me to see a wide variety of aircraft over the years. In my young mind they were a mystery that I just had to solve, and I set forth reading and watching materials on the subject of aviation. Some of these were an illustrated children’s book- Nobody Owns the Sky: The Story of "Brave Bessie" Coleman and a collection of stories-Teenage Aviation Stories, and movies like- Eyewitness – Flight and The Magic of Flight. With each tidbit of knowledge that I gained about what flying a plane entails and the extraordinary history behind it, the more I felt it becoming part of me. And the more I learned about the industry in general, the more I saw that it was in essence a subculture, made of individuals that achieve the status of pilot with which the individual inherits traditions, a particular lingo, uniforms, and values. I saw these aspects up close when I attended the Oregon International Airshow in Hillsboro Airport in the summer of 2009. As the Thunderbirds took the stage, flying in from the back, taking everyone in the audience by surprise with the earth-shaking noise, and performing jaw-dropping acts, I fell completely in love. Throughout the show I felt nothing in the world could make me happier, feeling sound vibrations smelling the fuel exhaust and seeing white vapor form on the wings of fighter jets. I was squealing with delight, almost went into a hyperventilating state, and just stood speechlessly stunned. I saw a F-86 Sabre, an F-15 Eagle, a MiG-17 and MiG-21, an F-104G, an A-26 Invader, an UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, a T-1A Jayhawk, and a HC-130 Hercules among many others. Getting the pilots signatures my hands were trembling and I struggled to keep from jumping up and down and making a fool out of myself. Overall, it was an experience that sealed my plan to become a pilot and will stay imprinted in my mind forever. Setting aside countless hours to study this subculture, and the amazing feats that are the results of the hard work of pilots, I learned much about what the process they undergo to attain flight. The Federal Aviation Administration has constructed a system, in which an individual takes specific steps and measures, moving up a ladder that will legally enable them to take flight and make a living out of it, if so desired. The common path one would take with this ambition is to first learn what getting a license to fly entails. Then, the first requirement is to get a medical certificate. Next, one would select a flight school and instructor. At this step it is up to the individual to study and train, putting his or her mind and body to the knowledge and skills of operating inside a cockpit. And, now finally they are put to knowledge and practical tests that proof their capabilities. The first solo flight is considered the rite of passage, when a student pilot proves they can handle the aircraft by themselves which is anticipated by students with nervousness and excitement. From there on out the training regimen changes and the student must progress to piloting in more challenging techniques, maneuvers and situations. From what I have seen and heard of the field of general aviation it is grueling and challenging yet in the end rewarding and satisfying. My personal endeavors into this industry started with my fascination and dedication (bordering on an obsession) to the science and the job. This, I have to this day and it will stick by me, following me through the ups and downs, the hardships and the challenges, and ultimately to the fruits of my labor. Ernest K. Ganna WWII and airline pilot compared this obsession that connects pilots to a marriage, and flying to “lying with the bride” in his book Fate is the Hunter. This is the biggest connection of pilots from all walks of life, and can in itself define the subculture of aviation. However it is the appearance of pilots and their surroundings that brings the most recognition from those on the outside, looking in. That is the uniforms of pilots, the gear, the equipment, the airports, and of course the aircraft. moreVoting Question: when a soaring eagle turns during its flight, what is the source of the centripetal force acting on it?

The poem goes like this: High Flight Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds—and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of—wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there, I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue, I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark or even eagle flew— And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. Do you know why and how some clubs, perhaps even yours, have a particular nickname, or a previous one? Here's a sampling of some of them: 1. The Glaziers (later Eagles) - Crystal Palace. They had this nickname, a reference to their ground when they were formed and prior to moving to Selhurst Park. Former Manager Malcolm Allison, changed it to the Eagles, after he took over in the 70s, to mark a new beginning. And for a while it worked, they soared from the old 3rd division to the top flight in successive seasons. After a giant-killing FA Cup run, they were considered as possible candidates to be the 'Team of the 80s'. 2. The Pensioners (also Blues) - Chelsea. A reference to former service pensioners at Royal Chelsea Hospital. The club made them welcome and adopted the name from them. 3. The Terriers - Huddersfield. The club chose the Yorkshire Terrier as their mascot in 1920, and incorporated it into the badge. 4. The Toffees - Everton. Someone used to give out toffees before games in the 50s and 60s, probably from a candy shop next to the ground that sold toffees on match days. 5. Red Devils - Man Utd. Took it from the Salford Rugby Team. 6. Black Cats (also Mackems) - Sunderland. A young fan had a black kitten in his pocket throughout the 1937 FA Cup Final, which they won. Also a nearby gun battery was called the Black Cat, and a black feline was the club's resident pet in the 50s.Nicknamed voted by fans in the late 60s. 7. The Baggies ( also Throstles) - West Bromwich Albion. Reference to their supporters wearing baggy pants by Villa fans and the bag men who collected match takings. 8. The Owls - Sheffield Wednesday. Refers to area club is in, Owlerton. 9. The Saints - Southampton. Club was first known as Southampton Saint Mary's. 10. The Trotters - Bolton. Club played next to piggery when first formed. I used to play this game a few years ago; I forgot its name and I want to play it again. The company that made it had a logo of an eagle in flight (fully gold in colour) on a black background. The game screen had 6-8 slots and you summoned creatures into those slots. You were a person with some hp and each creature had thier own hp's. Each creature had special powers and stuff. Each turn your creatures and the opponents creatures would attack each other. If you had an empty slot and your opponent had a creature opposite to your slot, then you would lose some hp. When YOUR hp became 0 you would die and you lost the Duel. Your character would get some powers too. Each turn you would get some mana and you could spend this on creatures. It was a fantasy, turnbased game. No 3D graphics and stuff only those slots with pictures of your creatures on them. Each turn your creature would attack the opponents creature by sliding over to the opposite opponents slot. and the amount of hp lost would appear. Some of the creatures were : Storm Elemental, Earth Elemental, Fire Elemental, Minotaur etc. I think there was lan play also. moreResolved Question: What book hooked you into reading?
I never liked to read when I was young, then when I was about eleven or twelve. someone gave me a book called "The Flight of the Eagles" by Gilbert Morris. I reluctantly started to read it, and I didn't stop. Ever since that day I was hooked on reading. The book filled me with intrigue, and opened my eyes to the different worlds (so to speak) books could bring me to, and I loved it. So, what's your story? What book was the clincher for you, and turned you onto reading a lot? And why? moreResolved Question: What would the dog say in a letter to God?
Dear God, How come people love to smell flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Where are their priorities? When we get to Heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story? Excuse me, but why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not one named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! I know every breed cannot have its own model, but it would be easy to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler Beagle! If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog? Is it true that in Heaven, dining room tables have on-ramps? If we come back as humans, is that good, or bad? More meatballs, less spaghetti, please. We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent IDs, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand? Are there dogs on other planets or are we alone? I have been howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is the beagle across the street! Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize? Is it true that dogs are not allowed in restaurants because we can't make up our minds what NOT to order? Or is it the carpets thing, again? May I have my missing parts back, you know the ones I mean! Thank You for joining the fun! Many Blessings!I do not give TD! moreResolved Question: What do you think of my writing?
Don't criticize the crappy concept. I'm literally typing this right into the box. No, this is not going to be a novel or even story. Just something that popped into my head. The crooked road seemed to be warped, almost twisted, if you will. As I started down it, a mild, powdery snow began to descend, piling softly against the ravaged earth. I beamed. Somewhere in the distance, a police siren sounded, shrill and frenzied. Lights from the skyscraper-tall buildings cast a pleasant, welcoming flush of light across my skin. Living in the city, you knew to be wary at night, but rarely did you think of it. Picking up my pace, I skimmed over the cracks of the earth, which were now sheltered by heaps of colorless ice crystals. At moments like this, time stood absolutely still. Never at any other time did I feel so free, like an eagle taking flight. Still, I felt the clock's hand standing perfectly still at one specific time as I glided faster over the piling snow. Beaming, I stared up at the stars questioningly. The sky stared back. Note that that wasn't supposed to be long. Just a little bit of writing that popped into my head. Read it. Critique it. Thank you :) moreResolved Question: Aztec, Mayan Tattoo designs?

The holidays are nearly upon us and like anyone, I'm dreading flight delays. But is there a ready-made answer to the on-time performance woes we've all become so accustomed to? Perhaps... I'm not a big Obama fan. In fact, he's a not-very-well-disguised fascist. However, as famed people-studiers Montagu and Darling suggest, fascism might have some benefits hiding just beneath the blankets on the bed of our political unhappiness. Consider their thoughts on Benito Mussolini, hall of fame Italian dictator of some years back: "Mussolini may have done many brutal and terrible things; he may have destroyed freedom in Italy; he may have murdered and tortured citizens whose only crime was to oppose him; but one had to admit one thing about the Dictator: he made the trains run on time." And so, something good may yet emerge like a great eagle, reborn again from the ashes of the ungood. Plainly put, could Obama's fascist dictatoring ways be the answer to improving on-time flight performance this holiday season? Can he pull a Mussolini and make the planes run on time? Let's hope so, for the sake of spending more time with our loved ones. GOD bless you- Captain Art GriegoGreat job, Instant Coffee- you just got GOD's attention. The Apostle's Bridge From the apostle's bridge, I see the trout and the pike and the black eels as the river runs quicker, pounding the banks and breaking her earth; and above in a circle flies the white hawk, sensing the darkness of a barren winter's night, where the call of Caledonia is heard from the moor and the golden eagle gives flight, carrying the cries of the dead, from the corpse to the ephemeral light. I was browsing the net and found this, holy *&%$ THE SECRET BEHIND THE NUMBER 11 - YOU WON'TBELIEVE IT! This is actually really freaky!! (The terrorist who threatened to destroy the Twin Towers in 1993) 4) George W Bush has 11 letters. This could be a mere coincidence, but this gets more interesting: 1) New York is the 11th state. 2) The first plane crashing against the Twin Towers was flight number 11. 3) Flight 11 was carrying 92 passengers. 9 + 2 = 11 4) Flight 77 which also hit Twin Towers , was carrying 65 passengers. 6+5 = 11 5) The tragedy was on September 11, or 9/11 as it is now known. 9 + 1+ 1 =11 6) The date is equal to the US emergency services telephone number 911. 9 + 1 + 1 = 11 Sheer coincidence..?! I reckon it's between West Coast, Adelaide and Geelong. Baring Geelong usually most Victorian teams games are split with supporters from each team , where as the interstate teams have a whole crowd to themselves (which can be more daunting for opposition teams). I'm leaning towards the Eagles because of the long flight.Yeah I probably should of included Freo as well. It's just that they dont win win at home as much as the other teams I mentioned. At least the other 3 times make the most of there advantage and can win at home more regualy. moreResolved Question: Help with becoming a Coast Guard helicopter pilot?
I am currently a sophomore in college but am not studying a very technical degree (dbl major in Economics and Int'l Studies). I am planning on working with the Marines this summer in a sort of paid "boot-camp" where you introduced to the service and at the end of the period you get offered a position or you meet their requirements. Hopefully will be an opportunity to get paid to get in great shape and learn about the military (not really planning on joining though). Regardless, I am planning on getting my private pilots license fairly soon, within the next year. I make fairly decent grades, currently have a 3.3 GPA and it will hopefully rise more after this semester. I am in above average physical condition and play club/intramural sports at my school and when I am not with a team working out I work out independently 3x a week and run 3x a week as well. Also, I am active in my church/community and am also an Eagle Scout. I was hoping that after college I could go to OCS; hopefully move on to flight school; and then to the pilots seat. I was thinking that maybe after 10+ years I could move on to a job with the FSO (Foreign Service Office) or possibly humanitarian work in Africa (have to be fluent in French for my major) hence the degrees in Economics and International Studies. I was hoping someone could possibly give me some advice who has experience with the military or what my chances would be with becoming a CG aviator. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Not necessarily true, if you have a privates pilots license that fulfills the requirement of an otherwise absent technical degree moreResolved Question: Going to the mall in an hour, and need to know where to find vampire contact lenses.?
