Ticketmaster's netherland division does not have any available (i dont know if this is because they haven't gone on sale yet or because they are sold out). everywhere else i look is in dutch and very confusing. plus i dont know which resellers i can trust. there will be 2 travelers, departing from philadelphia international or newark international (depending on ticket price) and we have decided our first stop will be Amsterdam (whose isn't?) as far as other destinations we haven't maped out a set course yet and are open to suggestions but would like to either loop around back to Amsterdam (round trip flights are cheaper) or end in Rome. We would have 2-3 weeks only :( but think we may be able to pull it off. Also we are looking at either early June or late August (possibly September) Cheers moreVoting Question: How do I find flight info. for a KLM flight from Amsterdam to Gander Nfld. My step-sister and I have to choose a place to travel for Spring Break. The thing is, we have radically different personalities. She likes parties, fashion, clubbing, beaches, and shopping. I like museums, history, writing, photography, art, meeting new people, walking, stuff like that. We are both 18 and can drive, though I prefer solitude while she always wants company. Ideally I would accompany her to do what she wants while also having time to myself. We'd prefer a place where we speak the language. We both speak English and Spanish, but I prefer English, while she prefers Spanish. I also speak Italian. We would also prefer that the flight not be longer than 10 hours. I don't think she'd agree to England (and I went this past year anyway), and I didn't really like Paris (though I did enjoy smaller towns near the Pyrenees when I went to France). That said, staying in the US would be preferable, but not necessary. We've been to NYC twice this past year, so that's out. She suggested Los Angeles, but I can't think of anything I'd want to do there (but if you have suggestions, I'd be amenable to hearing them). I suggested Alaska, but she immediately declined. I have been to Spain (Madrid), but she hasn't, so right now, we're thinking Barcelona. But I think that's a bit far for her first time traveling out of the country. Another choice would be Amsterdam, but, again, we don't speak the language (though I'm sure enough people there speak English). I'd be open to hearing suggestions. Anything to do in Los Angeles? Canary Islands? Barcelona? ANY other place in the US would be great as well if there's enough for both of us to do. P.S. - We don't want any place that gets too swamped during Spring Break, like Mexico. We live in Miami, so we see plenty of that already. For this reason, beaches are also not necessary, though she would appreciate it.She doesn't like the cold at all, but I love it. Ideally it'd fall somewhere in the middle so we could both enjoy the weather. moreResolved Question: Why are r/t flights between NYC & London so expensivle lately?
I'm currently planning a trip to London in a few months, and I've noticed that the taxes and fees have risen considerably since last year. All the airlines say a r/t ticket costs $300-$500, but the taxes and fees are another $400-$500, almost doubling the price. I've found tickets to Amsterdam that are cheaper, and that's a farther flight. Furthermore, it's about $150 cheaper if you do the r/t from London -> NYC -> London. Does anyone know why this is? Is it a temporary situation? moreResolved Question: Amsterdam How much spending money will I need? Help!!!?

My friends and I are currently studying abroad in Rome and we are trying to plan our spring break travels around Europe. Our spring break begins on February 27th and we need to be back in Rome by March 7th. Our main destinations are Amsterdam, Prague, and Munich, preferably in that order (we are trying to start at the top of Europe and work our way down). We want to leave Rome on the 27th of February to go to Amsterdam and leave Munich on the 6th or 7th of March to get back to Rome. I have been looking up flights on easyjet.com and it seems much cheaper to fly into a neighboring city or country and take a train into Amsterdam. I need help planning flights, train rides, hostels, etc., so anyone who has any experience with this would be of much help to us. Also, if you can specifically supply links/prices that would be great. Price IS a concern for us as we are college students, so we do not need to stay in any 5-star hotels or fly first-class. All I ask is to avoid Ryan Air because I have heard some awful things about them. If anyone can help us we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much! okay, now if you couldn't guess I would like to take a trip to Amsterdam. I would like to take it not this summer but next summer 2011. I did a little research on cost but I would love a second opinion. So if you could tell me what the price would be for a 7 day trip. i.e. hotel(limit $100 a night, preferably close to coffee shops), food($20 a meal), Car (small four door with navigation system....cheaper the better) coffee shops( average price) Plane ticket (second class) p.s. I would be flying from either San Antonio or Austin Texas, I understand that they might not have flights that far into the future so i would love a website that gives cheap flights (i.e. travelocity) moreResolved Question: Train from Amsterdam to Brussels?
Trying to coordinate the most efficient travel between Seattle WA and Brussels Belgium. I can fly direct to Amsterdam (Schipol), and I can see that there is a high speed train from Amsterdam to Brussels direct. What are the rates one way and return? Are reservations required? I'm a little concerned about delayed flights causing a missed train connection - if I reserve a seat and my flight is delayed is there a chance to rebook the seat on a later train or do I lose the reserved ticket and have to buy another? Or is there an easier way to do this? I would prefer to fly from Seattle to Europe direct (no changing planes in Chicago, New York, Atlanta etc.). Direct flights go from Seattle to London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Frankfurt. It seemed to me that Amsterdam was the logical transfer point, and I like that the train would take me to the central station in Brussels instead of having to navigate from the airport.GP: I will be traveling on business, and the "cheapest" flight isn't what I"m looking for. I'm trying to get to Brussels with only one transfer, and Amsterdam is one place I can get to directly. You needn't have wasted your time answering if you thought the question was "worthless". moreResolved Question: Does KLM have an electric plug on international flights?

I can only speak English, so I was wondering if that would be a problem, especially when connecting at Amsterdam or Paris ... are the signs, notices, etc also in English? moreResolved Question: Should I wait to purchase flight+hotel for a June trip to Amsterdam?
I dont have a whole lot of experience in price shopping travel except for Vegas, which I am guessing is a whole nother matter altogether since they have about 50k flights coming in per hour, so I guess I am asking if the same "wait for the best deal" idealogy would be applied to an overseas trip. Do prices typically drop any lower the closer it gets? I started looking 3-4 days ago, and already the regular price I am seeing for the same package I was looking at then is about $100 more, and am guessing the only way its going price wise will probably be up. http://www.myfoxdc.com/dpps/news/unruly-passengers-disrupt-northwest-flight-243-_5538097 Nice to know Obama is looking out for our safety.... A flight from Amsterdam into Detroit Metropolitan Airport was held on the tarmac after landing because of unruly behavior by some of the passengers. The source says four men from Saudi Arabia were saying something in Arabic that alarmed four on-board Federal Air Marshals. The Marshals speak Arabic. A decision was made to stop the plane on the tarmac away from the passenger terminal and remove the men from the plane. Once the men were removed, the rest of passengers were then taken to the terminal for deboarding. The Transportation Security Administration says the unruly passengers were interviewed by Customs and Border Protection officials. But the TSA says the passengers were released and no arrests were made. moreResolved Question: Why do al Qaeda types pick flights from Amsterdam to Detroit to misbehave?

not much to add. I'm 18 and will be traveling through Amsterdam, NE into Detroit, MI. In Amsterdam I am legal to drink, but not so much in Detroit. I want to purchase a bottle of liquor in Amsterdam, because it's at an amazingly low price, and bring it back to the US as a gift for a family member. There is talk about how the would be terrorist got through Amsterdam Airport security, and now the Obama administration is cracking down. But I have never heard, does the TSA or any other American agency have the authority to do searches on passengers coming to the US. Is it all done by that country's agencies? Do they work together? Is this the same Richard Wolfe that writes the Obama books?
"WASHINGTON, DC -- Officials in the Obama White House are considering the possibility that the Christmas day attempt by Nigerian terrorist Umar Farouk Mutallab to blow up an airliner about to land in Detroit was deliberately and intentionally facilitated by unnamed networks inside the US intelligence community. This was the gist of a report by Richard Wolf delivered in this evening's edition of cable network MSNBC's Countdown program, hosted by Keith Olbermann. One crucial detail is mostly left out of the Detroit charade story as it is being handled by the mainstream media worldwide: at Amsterdam airport, the “crotch bomber” boarded the US-bound flight without a passport and without going through any security check. Instead, he was escorted by a “well-dressed” gentleman who apparently had access to the boss of the Israeli firm that handles security at Amsterdam. http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/05-01-2010/111547-obama_helpers-0 moreResolved Question: Is Global Warming over... has the next Ice age started this winter or is it just a blip?

Thousands of schools were closed for a second day and air, rail and road travelers faced delays or cancellations. Northern and central France temperatures were at or below freezing, the Meteo-France Web site said, while the German Meteorological Service said an Arctic cold front from Russia will bring more snow to northern and eastern Germany today and temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius. “Germany is the freezer of Central Europe,” Dorothea Paetzold, a meteorologist at the national forecasting service, said in an interview from Offenbach. Snowfall has built up to 16 centimeters (6 inches) in Berlin and more than 10 times that on the Zugspitze, the country’s highest mountain. China will be hit by a new cold front this weekend, with snowstorms forecast for the provinces of Jiangsu, Anhui, Henan and Hubei on Jan. 9, China National Radio reported. Mexico will have “severe winter” weather. In the U.S., orange juice futures fell 1 percent yesterday in New York trading after freezing conditions did minimal damage to Florida’s crop. They had risen as much as 4.3 percent to a two-year high and natural gas jumped to a 13-month peak. ‘Rare Pattern’ “The cold weather is hitting a lot of the more populated areas, such as western and northern Europe, a lot of the eastern U.S.,” Bob Tarr, a meteorologist at AccuWeather Inc., said in a telephone interview yesterday. “It’s a rare pattern, and unusual to see this cold weather affecting a number of major population centers and persisting for about three weeks.” In Norway, power-grid operator Statnett SF asked several companies in Norway to reduce their electricity use after a drop in temperatures raised demand, Dagens Naeringsliv reported, citing company spokesman Tore Inge Akselsen. Arriva Plc, a train and bus operator in the Netherlands, said bus services in and around Amsterdam, Utrecht and part of the province of Brabant are experiencing delays, in a statement on its Web site. Railway operator Nederlandse Spoorwegen NV said it reduced train service. In Britain, snow will move from Scotland to eastern England today, with the rest of the country remaining mostly dry, the Met Office said on its Web site. Cold and snow were forecast to affect the country until at least the middle of the month. Gatwick Opens London’s Gatwick Airport was open today after being closed for much of yesterday as authorities cleared the runway. EasyJet Plc canceled 73 flights today after scratching more than 250 yesterday. At Prague’s international airport, travelers to the U.K. were being rerouted or assigned bookings two to three days from today. An EasyJet ticket agent said the earliest flights available to Britain were on Jan. 12 as he worked through a line of more than 150 stranded passengers. Ryanair Holdings Plc canceled 4 flights today after 146 cancellations yesterday. British Airways Plc also warned of cancellations. Seventeen rail service providers were hit by delays or cancellations today, according to the National Rail Enquiries Web site. On the capital’s subway system, the Bakerloo line was experiencing severe delays, and other lines had minor delays, Transport for London said on its Web site. Lufthansa reported no delays because of weather conditions, said spokeswoman Stephanie Stotz. At Deutsche Bahn, the national railway, trains haven’t yet been slowed down, a spokesman said. China Power Cuts The Chinese provinces of Jiangsu, Hubei, Henan, Hunan and Jiangxi and the municipalities of Shanghai and Chongqing have limited electricity consumption because of fuel shortages, the official Xinhua News Agency said today, without giving details. Some aluminum smelters in Henan, the largest producing province, received notices from power suppliers to prepare for stoppages, according to CRU International Ltd. China is the world’s biggest maker of aluminum used in homes and cars. There have been “periodic power supply disruptions” in provinces including Henan and Hunan, though the impact “is not serious” so far, Wan Ling, a Beijing-based analyst, said by phone today. She declined to identify the smelters affected. Mexico Freezes Mexico will have “severe winter” weather in most of the nation from today, the National Meteorological Service said in an e-mailed statement. Temperatures below freezing are forecast for 10 states and Mexico City, it said. At least seven deaths in the U.S. have been blamed on icy roads or cold-related accidents, the Associated Press reported.
