Voting Question: how can u tell if someone is writing to you from the heart or they're sending you genuine letters?

is there a way of knowing if you're important to someone in their life? for example, i had family come visit me from india during my summer vacation. my cousin came to the usa in may. he flew from india to new york for three weeks then on june 18th, he took a 7 am flight from new york and landed in california around 10 am pst. he stayed for five days. he came with his wife and 2 sons. the thing that surprised me the most was that when his kids were doing their homework, his wife was helping them. one of his kids started to misbehave. i was up in my room then my cousin came. when i asked him if he should go down, he said "he'll get in trouble." why would he give up half our of not checking on his kids? was it because it was important to him that he spent time with me? when they went back to india on june 23rd, they flew directly from lax and took the very last flight in the evening. his kids started their school on july 1st. is it normal for people who visit the usa from india to do that kind of things for family? i feel bad because since next week is diwali, one of my cousins seemed busy in his office, but he still managed time to reply to my email. is there a way of knowing if someone is writing from their heart or are they just sending geunine letters meaning that they dont mean what they say? Here is an answer: A person that takes time out of their busy schedule to write or visit wouldn't do it if they weren't genuine. what does it mean? more

Resolved Question: Priceline "Name Your Own Price" $70 rt flight, what is the catch? Any advice/warnings?

I'm a broke college student trying to spend a few weeks in Michigan with my bf this summer, and I found a (roundtrip) flight for $70 on priceline's "name your own price" - from Long Bch or LAX (won't tell me for sure until I book it) to DTW (detroit) I read about the lay-over possibility (up to 3 hours) I am fine with that. I am also ok leaving and arriving at ANY time, my schedule is open.. but my question is if there is anything else I should beware of? I am thinking there has to be SOME other catch... Any advice from anyone who has used it or knows about it? Also does it matter when I book it (last minute/advance)? I want to leave the 22nd of this month Thank You! more

Resolved Question: connect time in LAX for international flights?

I am planning to make a flight booking from 2 seperate airlines. Heres the schedule and tell me how long do i need for flight connection at LAX airport. When i arrive at LAX airport i would have to claim my baggage and re-check in at the other terminals right? Cuz i saw on the LAX airport map, terminal 2 for NWA arrivals is seperate from the international terminal for Cathay Pacific. How long does it take for airport shuttles to make my connecting flights? Also, i am a canadian citizen, do i have to clear customs or anything when i come back from Asia into LAX airport? I've only been to the LAX airport when i was little, and it really does look confusing n complicated on the map here, how long should i allow in between my connecting flights so i can make my connections? departure to HK: NWA: from DTW to Minneapolis NWA: from minneapolis to LAX Cathay pacific: from LAX to Hong Kong return flight: Cathay Pacific: from Hong Kong to LAX NWA: from LAX to DTW And my flights schedule is around midnight, would that make a difference for the airport connection shuttles? more

Resolved Question: Where will I clear customs/immigration?

I am flying to Osaka Japan this coming March. This will be my 3rd time going. However, this schedule is something new I haven't seen. It says that my return flight will depart Osaka and arrive in LAX, BUT that there is a plane change in SFO. It's not classified a layover, as the schedule does not say that we land in SFO but it says plane change in SFO. My question is am I clearing customs/immigration in SFO during the plane change or am I clearing in LAX? I have a connecting flight onward from LAX to SAT but the connection isn't tight at all. Which airport do you recommend, BTW for a layover - LAX or DEN? more

Resolved Question: How do I file a complaint against Delta Airlines?

My daughter flew from LAX to J.F.K., however, her plane had to circle for 45 minutes before landing, which caused her to miss her next flight to Rome. She was scheduled on Grecian Cruise and was suppose to get on the ship at Venice - they missed the ship because the mix-up in the flights and her luggage was never rerouted. She missed two stops of her cruise and was without luggage for the entire time. On the way back in Venice they found their luggage in the unclaimed luggage dept. When she called the airport in Venice they said they did not have her luggage. How does she get reimbursed for her miserable trip. Also she flew 1st Class. Help!!!! more

Resolved Question: United Airlines Flight Cancellation Compensation?

I flew from LAX to London Heathrow earlier this month and my scheduled flight from LAX was cancelled due to a mechanical problem with the plane. United put us up in a hotel overnight but wouldn't pay any compensation. I know that EU rules now specify compensation must be paid ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4267095.stm ), and that these rules apply to all airline flights departing from an EU airport or to any airline licensed in the EU if that flight is departing from an airport outside the EU to a destination at an airport in an EU member state ( http://www.airsafe.com/complain/bumping.htm ). I would like to know if United Airlines count as an airline licensed in the EU, and if I am entitled to any compensation for this cancelled flight. more

Resolved Question: Best United first class flight from LA to Chicago?

Does anyone know the best regularly scheduled first class flight from LA to Chicago? There's a return flight from ORD to LAX on a 777 which has lie-flat seats and is very comfortable (departs at 5 p.m.). But I can't seem to find a flight from LAX to ORD on an aircraft with lie-flat seats. The 767-300 flights are a poor excuse for first class and really aren't worth the extra fare, in my opinion. I saw one red-eye flight listed from LAX to ORD on a 747-400 that featured lie-flat first class seats, but I only saw it listed once on the schedule and wonder if it was a one off. Any advice and tips greatly welcomed! Thanks. more

I am flying from Narita(Tokyo) to LAX continuing on to DC. I have never entered the United States from another country. My question is I have exactly one hour 45 minutes or so from the time I land In LAX till my next flight. Can I make this or should I schedule the next flight. Our scheduled arrival at LAX, on an international flight, is 12.40pm. We want to go straight to Washington DC. I figure we won't be ready to board a flight until about 4pm (right?). Are there really no flights then (except perhaps those that require you to regard the plane as your 2nd home)? We don't mind arriving at 1am, but maybe noise controls prevent planes from landing then? If we stay in LA overnight, we will waste the next day getting to DC. Help! more
