I want to buy myself a new PC game for my parents to give me for Christmas. Usually I have an idea of what I want to get myself, but this year I have none. I want something that's preferably multiplayer, Rated Teen, something cool. Some games I have really enjoyed were Star Wars Battlefront 2, Jak 2, Age of Empires 1,2, &3, Flight Simulators, Combat FS, various _______ Tycoon games. Voting Question: Which laptop should I chose for college and some gaming, why?

First I want to say is that I should be getting a laptop soon by January 2009. I will have only $1,700 in the bank by the 3rd of January. I hopefully will be starting college by then. I would preferably like to spend less than $1,000 for the laptop itself. I will only buy HP because I have experience with them and I like what they have to offer. Also they are at least the top if not #2 rank in high reviews for computers. As for their customer service it is decent. I use computers manly to surf the internet, do research, edit photos, word processor documents, downloads off the internet, Quicken for my finances, I tend to pull up multiple applications and multi task while online, regular instant messaging (IM) and as far as games go all I play at the moment is Flight Simulator X (FSX) besides the occasional online games on the internet like pop it (pogo.com). I may be interested in playing Dead Space and Fear 2 and have read the reviews on them. I enjoy playing fighter pilot games, do you have any to suggest? Links for both laptops are listed at the end. As well as all the software I will be purchasing to put on it. Yes I did the reviews for antivirus, internet security and spyware software. Extended HP warranty as well as printer and laptop carrying case are listed also. All prices include shipping and tax. There is a $266 difference between the total prices. The first laptop is an HP dv6885se (Special Edition) It is originally $1,150 at Best Buy but now as of December 2, 2008 it is $976.23 this includes shipping and tax. It is not available in stores and is now marked as an Outlet item. So I am not sure how much longer it will be available for. This laptop was made in 2007. I have had excellent frame rate with Quake 4 and Flight Simulator X on my emachines with amd sempron 2.1 single core, nvidia 6100 with 895 mb of ram, however Quake 4 took a big decline in performance, graphics are great, but the framerate is very bad, I put to lowest settings, and it is still a pain offline or online, what is the problem and how can I fix it, thanks. I used disk defragmenter, cleaned registry all of that. Intel sucks; AMD is better. more

When installed the game all was ok, but then after a few seconds of being online i was disconected - message: You have been disconnected from GameSpy. You may have logged in on another computer. Say if you had flight simulator 2004, and you set up an online multiplayer mode on it, and you uninstall the entire game from your computer, and put it back on. QUESTION 1.Okay so i have had this game for about two weeks. and i can get on to the multiplayer well but when i get into a game and at the very end when it says loading air, sea, and land traffic it gets to 99% then says probelm connecting: couldnt connect to host or something like that about problem connecting to host. then it reloads the traffic thing again and then i get into the game but no chat window comes up and i dont think i am online. what is going on. I've got a 7600gt with 2gigs of ram and a 3200+ amd processor that I intend on upgrade to a 4200 shortly for a few bucks. However, I'm tapped out on games. The sheer glut of PC games out there have left me without a clue as to what to play. :) I like pretty much everything out there, but I just don't have time for MMORPG's anymore. I used to love playing Rogue Spear, Medal of Honor, Flight Sims, Serious Sam etc etc. I'm looking for something simulator related that I can get my teeth into, and possibly a first person shooter to play online with other people as a log in, kill kill kill...go back to work type of release. :) Suggestions? more

Urghh what a headache. I've got these two games but they won't run with my graphics card. For FlightSimulator X it simply says I need direct x9 support, for Star Wars Lego1 it says I need this, but also something call 'vertex pixel shader'. I've been scouring online shops looking for a 128Mb AGP card under £40 that mentions these two items, but can't find any that mention the 'vertex pixel shader'. Does anyone have these two games, and can tell me exactly what graphics card they have? When I try to run CFS3, I get a pop up that exits the program that reads: The video drivers installed on this system are not supported. CFS3 cannot run with this configuration. Contact your video card manufacturer for information on upgrading to a new version. My video card is a nVidia RIVA TNT2 Model 64 (HP). I went online and downloaded the nVidia graphics driver update, and when I tried to install that, I got another error message saying that it cannot find any drivers that work with my card.
