My mom wanted to do something for my 16th birthday. I told her I didn't want anything but she kept on insisting that she's getting a big tax return and she wants to do something nice for my birthday. She wanted to take 5 of my friends to disneyland for the weekend, (which is about 40 minutes away). After much discussion we finally agreed on me taking my best friend to disneyland for two nights. My best friend lives in northern california so my mom is paying to fly her out. With the cost for 2 hotel rooms for two nights, tickets to enter the amusement park, the cost for meals throughout the weekend, and a roundtrip flight it all adds up to 2,000 $ even. Is that way too much? I feel like a spoiled brat on MTV's "super sweet 16". Maybe I should just call it all off and say I don't want to? Or should i let her spend 2,000 on me? more

Hello, I am a military spouse of a active duty soldier who is currently deployed to Afghanistan. He has been there since July of last year and is scheduled to return home in June at his original duty station in Baumholder, Germany. I heard about these AMC passenger terminal/Military space available flights through his brother in law. I would really love to save money on the $600+ ticket to germany (since I cannot be command sponsored, he only has less than a year left there) However, I hear he has to be present with me in order for me to board this flight. Is this correct? The only way for him not to be with me is a signed letter from his commanding officer? In addition, these flights do not sound very reliable. I want to be in Germany by May 19th or 20th, are you not able to pick your dates in advance? I live near WPAFB in Ohio, but I hear Baltimore-Washington IAP MD has flights out to germany constantly and Dover AFB, DE has a much better chance of catching a flight to germany. Any advice or experiences? I am lost, if this could work I would be willing to wait around but I am afraid a flight would get divered to another AFB(in that case I would wait for another flight, right?), cancelled, stuck somewhere, etc. Is it all worth it? Open Question: Just wondering why the cost of plane tickets have gone up so much?

Last year, in August/09, my husband and I flew from St. John's, NL to Indianapolis, IND which is my husband's hometown. The total cost for both of us was $1100, taxes in. The tickets were booked in July, only a month before the flight. This year however, we are planning to go back in June and we have been pricing plane tickets on every site imaginable and they are all $2000 for both of us. The cheapest we have found is $1800, the most expensive being $6000!! Why are the tickets so much more this year, and what would you recommend for us to do? Would it be wise to book the tickets months in advance or just a little before we go? We're trying to keep it at $1200 as we are both students. Thanks. more

hey guys, so my ex and i bought plane tickets to go to vegas in about a month from now. obviously, this person wasn't my ex when we initially purchased the tickets. we were both soooo excited and had this whole trip planned out and even had a countdown. we've always been rocky, so in the back of my mind i thought it would be a possibility that we would end things before we could actually go on the trip together. the thing is, this would be his first flight. ever. and it's a really important thing for him and i was so excited to be the one to be going with him. i still REALLY want to go, but i don't know if i will regret being there with him once i get down there. if i keep my distance and stay levelheaded, will it be possible to get through this unscathed? and if not, what are my options? any input would be great! there are many things to do in vegas, so i'm sure if the worst happens i can book myself a separate hotel room for the rest of the trip and stay away from him. i'm a really independent person so i have no problem enjoying my own company :] more

Open Question: Do we need visas for mexico or Frankfurt for connecting flights?

We are flying from Guatemala, connecting through Mexico City, connecting again in Frankfurt, arriving finally in Athens, Greece. We bought our tickets through Lufthansa, but they don´t fly out of Guatemala so they have us on Mexicana Airlines until we get to Mexico City and then we switch to Lufthansa to Frankfurt where they put us on Aegean Air fo the last leg. Do we need visas for Mexico or Germany? Where will we go through immigration? Does anyone know if we have to take into account each airlines baggage guidelines, or if we just follow Lufthansa´s since that´s who we booked through? Does 2 hour layovers sound long enough? Open Question: i was denied entry into the US as i do not have enough ties in the uk, what is my next step?

my boyf booked my return ticket to come see him in florida for 3 months which i was looking forward to. (He is financially able to support me while im there) my flight stopped in minneapolis where i had to go through immigraion, when i got there they took me into another room for questioning, asking me if i was there to work and couldnt understand why i had no ties in the uk, also i had 2 big suitcases packed with clothes and shoes (mine) plus 3 shop mannequinns which i guess they found suspicious (they were 4 his sister) anyway they asked how much cash i had on me and i said £400 but have my debit card also they interviewed me and denied me entry and put me on a flight straight back to heathrow. they did not stamp anything in my passport did not give me any forms and i didnt sign anything they just told me to go to embassy, when i arrived at heathrow one of the guys who work for klm showed me what they had put on the system as the reason they sent me back which was 1. insufficient funds 2. no return ticket....im so confused as i did have a return ticket how can i guarantee i will get in next time? serious answers pleasei DID have a return ticket thats the jokeoh and im a british born citizen with british passporti was last in florida 4 xmas 08 for 1wk more

I fell in love with this guy 3 yrs ago. We used to work together. He moved to another country 2 yrs ago. I found him online nearly a yr ago and we chatted. He said I could save the time he wasted on that other girl and he really liked me but i didnt seem to be interested. He also asked what I want from this but I was shocked that he was so straightforward that I actually didnt say anything. I had a great time with him but then he said Im like his female eqivalent insecure, afraid to get attached and then get hurt on the other hand he makes dirty jokes on chat, which also may indicate he just wanted to get laid. Okay, so here's the plan(s). I've been planning to go to Bonnaroo this year for awhile now, BUT I saw online the "supposed" lineup and it was horrible. Dave Matthews Band? Really? Anywho, I have around 200ish saved up for that. I went to see Crystal Castles in Chicago on NYE and that was just amazing. Best night of my life. I can go into more detail if you'd like :). While waiting outside for two hours, I met this girl from San Fransisco who was also waiting in line. She was really cool and anywho I guess she'll be going to see CC again in Vancouver. I was invited and we're kind of planning on going IF the Bonnaroo lineup is rubbish. Now, the problem I'm having is which to choose. Problems: 1) I don't know if I'd be able to miss anymore days of school being that I'm almost positive I've missed the maximum amount (almost). 2) I don't know the girl from San Fran that well, so that would be a little awkward. And she's bringing a friend so I don't really know what to expect with that. I offered to bring my sister along (who went with me to see CC in Chicago) so it wouldn't be as awkward. Although, I think we'd all be too preoccupied with other things for it to be awkward. 3) BIG ONE. I'm not really sure how much the trip to Vancouver would be. I know the tickets are $40, the flight in is $130 to San Fran, and gas to Vancouver and hotel I'm not sure. I absolutely hate asking my mum for money, I'd feel horrible if it turned out to be expensive. Yeah, I don't have a job right now, I'm a loser. The lineup for B'roo comes out February 9, so pretty soon. BUT I think going to the west coast for a weekend would be just as amazing. We would leave late on the 25th, go sight seeing through Oregon and Washington on the 26th, and CC the 27th. <--THIS SEEMS VERY EXPENSIVE. The CC concert isn't until February 27, so I have little time to decide. Obviously with Bonnaroo, there's a lot more activities and bands to see and it's four days of fun, music, and good times. If CC does play Bonnaroo again this year, I'll most likely end up going. But to be able to go to the west coast and Vancouver, I think it would end being an EPIC road trip. Not to mention, getting to meet new people. Well, this was probably the most pointless topic ever posted on Yahoo! Answers. But I'd like your opinion on what I should do. And for any of you who think both are immature decisions and wastes of money, all I can really say is, "You Only Live Once". What's the point in living if you aren't enjoying yourself? I'll be off to college next year so I need to have fun while I'm young. Way off topic with that one hah. Thanksh! more

Resolved Question: Train from Amsterdam to Brussels?

Trying to coordinate the most efficient travel between Seattle WA and Brussels Belgium. I can fly direct to Amsterdam (Schipol), and I can see that there is a high speed train from Amsterdam to Brussels direct. What are the rates one way and return? Are reservations required? I'm a little concerned about delayed flights causing a missed train connection - if I reserve a seat and my flight is delayed is there a chance to rebook the seat on a later train or do I lose the reserved ticket and have to buy another? Or is there an easier way to do this? I would prefer to fly from Seattle to Europe direct (no changing planes in Chicago, New York, Atlanta etc.). Direct flights go from Seattle to London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris (Charles de Gaulle), Frankfurt. It seemed to me that Amsterdam was the logical transfer point, and I like that the train would take me to the central station in Brussels instead of having to navigate from the airport.GP: I will be traveling on business, and the "cheapest" flight isn't what I"m looking for. I recently booked (through Priceline) two flights with American Airlines and Continental Airlines but I accidentally added an extra E to my name. I called Priceline and they said they'd already changed it through the airlines but then I called the airlines and they said it hadn't been changed and that they couldn't change the name because it would cancel the reservation through Priceline. I called Priceline again and they said they couldn't change the name on the actual ticket or itinerary but that they'd sent a message to the airlines advising this name change and I'd still be able to board the plane. Please tell me if they will let me on the plane or if I'm screwed? The name is just off by one letter but I'm pretty sure it makes a difference anyway. more

Resolved Question: Can I choose to have a couple of days as a layover on a connecting flight in a different country?

I am traveling to Saudi Arabia (from the U.S.) in the summer and there is a layover in either Paris or London (depending on which ticket I choose) Is it possible to CHOOSE to have like 2 days as a layover in London so that I can check out Toynbee Hall, etc? Alternatively, what would happen if I "accidentally" missed my flight while in London? They would simply reschedule me for another flight to my destination right? more

Resolved Question: Can British Airways change flight schedule after booking tickets?

Hi I booked two-way (return) tickets for my parents visiting me this year from India to US and back via British Airways. I chose flights based on the gap at London my parents would have to wait for a connecting flight. This was high priority for me as my parents are old and I can't have them waiting for anything more than 4 hrs. The flights I booked via BA from their website had 4 hrs time gap both ways. After 3 weeks of booking, now they have changed the flight schedules that have a 7 hr wait in the return journey. This is not fair as my old parents can't wait for 7 hrs at London. Can I cancel the tickets and claim full refund? Its like showing a product and after paying, you give a different product to the customer. This is highly unfair in my honest opinion. Does someone know if airlines can do this? What is the way out? Please help me! Thank you in advance!I called BA customer service after waiting for a record 43 minutes only to hear that they can change flight schedules and will not refund any money if I cancel my tickets coz. the delay is less than 5 hrs (its 4 hrs). When I asked them what if my parents are unable to stand (bcoz. I know they won't even get seats to sit at London airport since we are Indians) the customer rep. thats not BA's problem. Great response! I hope they don't poison the food they serve to my parents. I am really tensed how will they manage to stand for 8 hrs in London in the cold month of December. more
