When hannah montana first came out with Best of both worlds she came in the disney world as a blonde. My mom saw her on tv and thought she was inappropriate and bad. Then i was on youtube and on the main page and every time i'm on the computer she comes and over and kisses me on the cheek and then stands there searching the computer with her eyes and makes up a conversation so she can see if i'm looking at something bad. I'm mean like cant i get a little trust. She never does that to my brother and he's older. He's most likely to be looking at something bad than me. I mean the only sites I go on is yahoo answers, disney channel, girlgames247.com, everything girl.com, and discount dance.com. and you can check if it's safe because they all are. one time i was shopping for ballet shoes and my mom came over and kissed me on the cheek and looked at the computer for a long time and then walked away. I just wanna smack her in the face when she does that and say leave me alone. One time i was watching winx club when i was little and she thought i was watching tv but it was a dvd that my dad got for me. She didn't know what it was so she constantly watched it with me like it's gonna have them doing inappropriate stuff. i mean are you gonna see a little cartoon fairy making out with her hero in training boy friend. When i told her it was video she stopped watching it with me because she could always check the video to see if its inappropriate. County police revealed that the young teen had drowned imitating a stunt he had seen on the widely popular MTV show, Jackass, which features celebrities like Johnny Knoxville performing various crude and self-injuring stunts and pranks. Although, Griego’s story is only one of the many celebrity influenced deaths that we hear about, he is part of a growing statistic of young teens that have been negatively influenced by celebrities. While some people dismiss the growing trend of youths looking to celebrities for role models as a stage of adolescents, they fail to see the deeper truth (Halpern 25). Celebrities, highlighted by their athletic skills, musical talent, and acting abilities, are also negative influences to the youth of society, and should be held responsible for their actions. Youth today are constantly bombarded with news of panty less celebrities like Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton or exposed to concerts where 16 year old Miley Cyrus is allowed to dance in a mini skirt, and gyrate on stage while singing about cheating boyfriends. Wearing skimpy outfits has become a part of celebrity culture and its influence on young girls has become apparent. “More than 70% of girls are obsessed with trying to imitate the look of a celebrity, and 30% of those girls admit to looking up to over sexualized starlets” (Brandish 9). Stores like Wal-Mart and Sears are vendors of the Hannah Montana brand which includes mini skirts with fake chains hanging off the pockets, and “micro” shorts and pants that carry the Hannah Montana logo and words like “pop star” or “rock star” on the butt. Young girls aiming to dress like Hannah Montana demand these over sexualized outfits from their parents and elicit inappropriate attention. Young Disney celebs have taken on more grown up styles. Such is the case with actors like Kike Palmer and Miley Cyrus who are only 16, yet prance around Hollywood in leather minis and stilettos. These mature styles being modeled by young starlets has little girls as young as five or six wanting to imitate their style and be “grown-up” also. While many critics will say it is ultimately the parents who buy the skimpy clothing their kid’s wear, who is to account for the hundreds of teenage girls that hide short skirts and “boob tubes” in their backpacks only to put it on when their parents are unaware. “12 out of 20 girls say their parents have no idea what types of clothes they buy and don’t know what they wear to school”(Halpern 30). Girls are not the only victims when it comes to the negative influence of celebrities, boys are also impacted. Famous rap artist P. Diddy proudly sells his trademarked “Bitchassness” shirts with his junior Sean John collection, which is marketed to young males. His marketing tactics have boys as young as 12 years old requesting where they can purchase this shirt that glorifies bad grammar and curse words. And Diddy, a father to 4 boys as young as 13 makes a quick buck while young boys get the notion that curse words are appropriate. According to Jake Halpern, author of the book Fame Junkies, “in 2002, celebrity-endorsed clothing labels accounted for 6 percent of the apparel industry; in 2005, it jumped to 10 percent,” and “analysts predict another 15 percent rise by 2009” (Halpern 14). In addition to glorifying obscene language, celebrities also influence how young boys wear their clothes. The “baggy shorts” epidemic has hit every middle school and high school in the form of teen boys. Young boys walk around in baggy shorts because they see rappers like Lil’ Wayne and Jay-z make sagging seem cool. These rappers never considered that they are promoting a style once associated with “gay” men in prison. Mike Males a writer for the San Diego Greenhaven Press argues that, “celebrities don’t influence America’s youth and shouldn’t hold the blame because parents should be the role models” (Males 1). If this is true why have so many celebrities come out with clothing and perfume lines that bear their name? Celebrities know that their name carries consumer appeal, and influences kids to buy a certain shirt or rock a certain pair of kicks. Celebrities also know what they are getting into when they take that first acting gig. If you didn’t want to be looked at by young kids as a role model why start off on a network geared towards kids. Why not start off on soap operas mainly viewed by adults. P. Diddy knows that he is a role model to young boys, so why market a shirt that advertises a cuss word you wouldn’t want your own son repeating in a junior clothing line. Diddy could have easily marketed that shirt to adult men who h more

Ok, Im Helen from HTB TV reviews. This is a friend's account. I would like to inform you that I have reviewed several TV shows on our review show. Thats so Raven, Wizards Of Waverly Place and Hannah Montana. The other two scored at least seven out of ten. Hannah Montana didn't even make three. I have reviewed thousands of TV shows but not so many with this channel. Okay so "Miley Cyrus" I pick a random episode and I picked a bus one. She's on tour and the first ten minutes of the show she says "I hate you" "Shut Up!" and smears makeup on her brother's face. I know she dosn't write the script but Im DEFINATELY not a fan of her songs either. Also I was wondering, (if you support Hannah Montana) If this behaviour would be accpetable for you children to follow? I though, no this is not fair. She can't score a two and be making $25 million dollars a year. Ill give her a second chance. Once again, she scored a 1.5 on the second one, about her kissing "Jake". I really discourage letting children watch this. I know she needs 'attitude' but prehaps less of it. With all this bad media going around for children 6 & under and all this pressure, the last thing children need is a popstar to look up that is rude, mean, nasty and full of negitave atitude. *****PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know this question has probably been asked like a million times, but are Disney Channel shows getting way too inappropriate for the little kids who watch it? Here are so examples: “HANNAH MONTANA” --Though “stupid” is not a bad word, it is if you are three or four years old. In many episodes of this show, you have Miley and her brother calling themselves “stupid” for like 5 whole minutes. They also put on the background laughter. What’s funny about that. If a little pre-schooler watches that (and trust me, many of them do) they are gonna go around repeating it or saying it to do their own siblings. How do I know? I’ve seen it happen. -- Shows like “Life With Derek” are really sexist to girls, but “Hannah Montana” is really sexist to boys. I recall Hannah once telling her male friend something like “What happened to your stupid boy brain?” Also, they portray guys on the show horribly. There was one episode where her brother tells the little rich kid “We’re guys. We‘re not supposed to shower.” This could have been funny to an older audience, but to little kids who saw that part (and the rest of that sexist episode) will get a very stereotypical idea of guys. Let me quote the tennis player episode: “What is that beard made of? Armpit hair?” That joke was too strong for little kids! -- Hannah seeks revenge too much. She tries to ruin her brother’s ball, she tries to ruin the Jonas Brothers, she wanted to make that Amber girl look bad, she tried to sabotage Jake’s movie. What is this teaching kids?!?! “THE SUITE LIFE OF ZACK AND CODY” -- Why does Maddie have to kiss every guy she meets before actually getting to know them first? In the episode “Maddie Checks In,” they kiss right away. In “Odd Couples,” Zac Efron’s character and her share a very, very, very long kiss for no reason whatsoever. Their characters met literally like 1 minute before that scene! If a parent sees his or her kids watching that, what are they gonna think? -- They portray fat people really bad. In the episode where London goes on a blind date with the store manager, she calls him “Greasy Bag Boy.” Zack asked the bully from the Spelling Bee episode if he was gonna eat him. -- In the episode “What the Hey?” why did Cody (thirteen) kiss that twenty- or thirty-something year-old woman IN THE LIPS at the end of the episode? -- They overdo the nerd/geek jokes. They really make a lot of mean jokes about intelligent people. Most of the little kids who watch the show wanna be Zack because he’s the cool, irresponsible one. -- London makes a lot of immigration jokes. “I learned how to say ‘Let me stay up late, or I’m calling immigration’ in 10 different languages!” and “Mosby, I want him deported!” -- In the episode called “Little Rich Girl,” when Maddie says “It’s time to strip and make the beds,” London was about to take off her blouse. -- In the “Club Twin” episode, the women who danced in the cages at the end acted way too sexual. -- The episode where the twins took to their dates to the empty apartmetn and played Spin The Bottle was totally inappropriate. -- Way to much kissing for a kid’s show! “WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE” -- In the episode where Gigi throws a Biggest Loser Party, the scene at the end where everyone is throwing cake and smashing it on each other’s faces was totally pointless! The characters were breaking the plates simply because they, (I’ll quote them), “always wanted to do it.” It reminded me of the Suite Life episode where that same thing happened with London and her friends. One of them said before starting the useless food fight, “I‘ve dated your brother. He’s an idiot.” Then, background laughter. Why?! --Justin once was giving the definition of a girl or something like that, and he included the word “stupid.” Then, background laughter again. -- The entire chocolate episode set a bad example for little kids. I’m not just talking about the useless chocolate scenes where Alex swims in chocolate, but also, at the end, her parents asked her “How long did you think we were gonna believe you knew Spanish?” She answers “I only needed you to think so until my date lasted, so I‘m good.” The parents don’t even say anything. Then, more laughing. So what? Is this a good way to talk to parents? “LIFE WITH DEREK” --Besides the incredible number of sexist jokes, is it right to dump a bag full of garbage on someone? KC does that. How disgusting is it for Derek to spit the cereal bag into the bowl and then offer it to his brother? Well, I think I made my point. I mean, I don’t expect kids to watch “Barney” or “Teletubies” 24/7, but there has to be better programming than this on Disney Channel! What do you think? -- Also, Derek once said that his chair was filled with all the gas he sunk into it or something like that. I don't think fart jokes are good for little kids.
