Open Question: Acoustic guitar or Classical guitar?
I'm a lead/rhythm guitarist in a metal band, and I want to take things slow and easy back downward to soft songs. I've borrowed my friend's unused Classical guitar, learned Romance De Amor, or something, i forgot the name, but the only songs I could play are metal songs on the classical guitar, although I did study the finger plucking with it, and I seem to be good at it. Now, If i were to buy a wooden guitar, should I get a steel string or a nylon string? Is the steel string also good for finger/spanish music? Is the classical guitar also good for acoustic metal songs? Although, I heard that you could play good solo-type songs on the acoustic guitar... true? I just checked out Larrivee guitar demos on youtube, and they seem cool, especially the Guitars Of Pikesville guy. Well, I don't know, i can't decide for myself.Sorry, I meant Steel-String for Acoustic and Nylon String for Classical. moreOpen Question: what are some easy guitar songs?

Im a beginner guitarist and would like to learn a well known song. I have tried a bunch but have not been able to play anything so far. Can Anyone help? moreResolved Question: I've come up with the most romantic idea ever and with it I'll confess my feelings but does she feel the same?
Me and my gf have been dating for almost 7 months now. Everything is going great and she is definitely the most amazing girlfriend I've ever had hands down. I'd totally describe her but that won't exactly pinpoint how I feel about her. Before I questioned it but now I'm certain... I'm definitely falling in love with her and at this point I don't want to just randomly toss those words around. I'm afraid i'll end up ruining what we have. But i decided that life's too short and even if she doesn't love me back I'm going to tell her how I feel; what the hell might as well cause holding it in ain't easy. But the thing is I'm not just going to randomly tell her I decided I am going to do it the best way I can and make it special. SO I learned how to play 1234 by Plain White t's on my acoustic guitar and I sing and play for her on her birthday in May. I'm also gonna take her to a romantic place of course lol. I'm putting LOTS of time into learning this song for her and tell her I lvoe her through the song. Ready for the bad part? We've had this conversation about love before and well, frankly, let's just say it didn't go well. Well it did at the time because I didn't love her then and she clearly flat out told me she doesn't love me(we had this conversation around our 4th or 5th month). Now I'm in no rush like I said, I'm perfecting this song for her and everything. But now I'm confused.... What bugs me is she said that she doesn't feel that way about me but i'm honestly confused on whether or not she feels the same. I feel like she'll really appreciate the time I put into this song for her, but unfortunately I just don't know if she even feels the same. One day though i managed to spot the word "love" in her prettiest handwriting written on her inner thigh very lightly. I didn't say anything because well I thought I was just makin a big deal outta nothin. My theory is maybe she got bored and ddid it. But it was in her best handwriting that I've ever seen and... why would she take the time to randomly do that? I'm just going to tell her through the song like I said. I know she'll love it. But what scares me is the fact that she might not love me back and I'm afraid I'll lose her after I say it through the song. We will have been dating for almost 9 months when I finally do this. So yea. Do you guys think theres A possibility she loves me back? moreOpen Question: Easy acoustic songs to learn on guitar.?
I can't think of anything to learn anymore. I fail a complicated songs, most involving B and F chords. Mostly because I can't bar my finger across the fretboard, but that's besides the point. The songs I've learned are Remembering Sunday- All Time Low; The Best Day- Taylor Swift; Whoever She Is- The maine; Time of Your Life- Green Day; and I'd hate to be you when people find out what this song is about- Mayday Parade. Yeah, I haven't learned much. I like music like that. And some underground people. Like Jonny Craig and Dance Gavin Dance. I need ideas. I've got a guitar musical assessment in a few weeks, and have been given the option between two songs on the guitar to play for the teacher to demonstrate what we've learned. I asked this same question yesterday in a different section and only got 1 answer. any help would be appreciated. "So I have a presentation next week in which I have to act. However, My character plays the guitar, and I'm suppose to play at least 30-40 seconds of a song before my character says a word. So my question is. I've had my guitar for a while now and i haven't made any progress with learning how to play. My main problem is that i don't know where to begin. in a few months my sister is getting a bass for her birthday and I want to get a head start on learning so I can teach her as well. Hey, I JUST started guitar, a week and a half ago. XD moreResolved Question: Can someone suggest a song...?
I need someone to suggest a reasonably easy song for guitar that I could learn and have at performance standard in 4 days. Preferably indie rock, but I don't care, anything is fine. To give you an idea of difficulty, something like Romeo & Juliet by the Killers or of that difficulty would be good. thanksi should probably add its better if it's not just straight cords. i don't care what it is, arpegiated, random, whatever, just not straight cords please. I'm not singing so it has to sound reasonably good as a solo piece moreResolved Question: easy songs to learn on guitar?

Maddi- Guitarist, vocals, ? Jori- Drummer, vocals Ursula- Keyboard, vocals, ? A typical band consists of a guitarist, a drummer, a singer, and a bassist... Ursula, to me, should learn how to play bass.. Since Maddi already knows guitar, she has no reason to learn bass.. and keyboard's not the most important thing in the world. And because we have no bass player, don't you think it would just seem more reasonable for Ursula to learn, rather for us to have no guitarist? I hope that made sense..... Plus, don't you always hear the guitar in a song? And most of the time, the bass? The guitar, the drums, AND the bass are really important. I'm pretty sure we'll eventually all learn bass, guitar, and drums. But, I think it's more important to have our main parts. Not all songs require a keyboard, but most songs require drums, bass, and guitar. This probably sounds like I'm babbling, but I'm trying to get across my reasoning. Maddi's still learning guitar, I mean, she knows most of it, but not ALL of it. Don't you think it would just be easier for Maddi to stay on guitar, Ursula to learn bass, and me to keep on drumming? Alsoooo... It would be harder for Maddi to learn bass because the bass is a whole different clef.... - Jori I,Ursula, think that Maddi should be the bass player. I think this because, to me, the keyboard DOES play an important role in our band. With the similarities of a bass and guitar, I think that Maddi will find it easier to play bass, rather than I having to learn the strings, and the keyboard. Like Maddi not being able to play both at the same time, I can't play keyboard and bass at the same time either. Not all of our songs will have a keyboard, but not all of our songs will have a guitar either. - Ursula HELLLLP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… moreResolved Question: Which one sounds more reasonable?

I need a guitar song that fits the following criteria: Uplifting easy to play and learn still sounds good without words all on a acoustic. I am doing a group project, and I will pick the one that best fits our project. Thanks moreVoting Question: What instrument should I take lessons for next?
I'm taking drum lesson right now, at "Sabado's school of music" and I'm in a band where I both drum and sing. I'm trying to compose all the music for every instrument, and the instruments in the band right now are guitar, bass, and drums. We're hoping to get keyboardist, then a brass instrument (like trumpet or saxophone), and when we record the guitarist overdubs so there are 2 guitars and we're going to get a second guitarist for live shows soon. I'm getting pretty advanced with drums, I know guitar chords, and I know basically how to make a bass rhythm out of root notes, but I don't know anything about single note melodies with guitar or bass. I own a drum set (but it needs to be fixed up, its kind of destroyed right now), a piano, and an acoustic guitar. Next year is my sophomore year of high school and they offer guitar lessons as an elective, so I'm taking it, but I don't know exactly how much they'll teach me and if I should get serious lessons. Bass is my favorite instrument and is really fun, but isn't as useful right now for composing especially since I don't own and can't afford a bass. When I can afford and have time for more lessons for another instrument, which instrument should I choose? Guitar --Pros: I own a guitar, I understand it, and I can compose with it --Cons: I'm already going to take a class on it next year anyway, so it may be a waste, (although I don't know how much the class will teach me) Piano --Pros: One of the best instruments to compose with, due to the grand staff and how easy it is to do both a melody and rhythm --Cons: I already have a book on piano chords and scales, lessons could be a waste Vocals --Pros: My voice could really use lessons, I'm kind of a horrible singer --Cons: They might only tell me stuff I've already learned from books and the internet Bass --Pros: My favorite instrument, really fun to play, and I'd like our songs to have more bass-melody instead of just rhythm --Cons: I don't own a bass and lessons wouldn't really be that useful Trumpet or Saxophone --Pros: This way when we get a brass instrument player, I can tell them what to play and have control over that part of every song --Cons: I don't own a trumpet or saxophone, and it isn't that useful for composing the overal song, only for composing that instrument's part Help me choose please! Sorry for the really long wall of text!I know a lot of guitar chords already. Not just the like seven essenial ones but several advanced onesand power chords, what I have trouble with is single noes and barre chords. Also, recommending thins because they'll take me farther if I play it in a band doesn't really make a difference, I already both play drums and sing in a band, I wouldn't be playing any of these other instruments in a band, I'd only use them to compose the songs for the other band members. moreResolved Question: Any good songs to play on piano or guitar?
I am so bored right now, and I need something to play. I play the guitar, the piano and I sing as well, so I need a song to be able to play along too with them. i don't want it to be too hard to learn. I can play all the small things by blink 182, prayer for the refugee by rise against, meant to live by switchfoot and other similar songs. So something similar to these songs would help, preferably with some distortion. moreResolved Question: What are some easy heavier songs to learn on Guitar?
I really want to learn how to play a song that sounds a little on the heavy side, but not like death metal. Something like A Day to Remember or Alesana or something like that that would be simple enough for an intermediate to learn. Ten points best answer!!!!! Thanks!!!! moreResolved Question: what song should i leanr on guitar? (intermediate, rock)?
im not talking like smoke on the water easy, i play like intermediate stuff like some of the easier atreyu and bullet for my valentine songs.ive been playing for 2 years, so im not a super amazing guitar god yet. i have to learn a full song (which is hard cuz i dont remember lots of stuff well, but i can do it). i usually have my guitar drop-tuned and a droptuned song would probably sound more impressive but it doesnt have to be. and nothing with a solo, i cant so most solos. i gotta learn to play the whole thing through and sound almost as good as the band that plays it. if i can do this my dad will help me pay for my new guitar which i reallly need cuz my electric one is a peice of crap (my acoustic isnt, but i cant play in a band with that =P). please suggest some songs you think i should learn??? moreResolved Question: Which is more worth the effort? Guitar or Piano?
I've asked a question similar to this before, but I am still very unsure as to which will benefit me more in the long run. People say that if you can play the piano, you can play anything (hypothetically speaking, you wont be able to play any instrument), but they also say that piano is hard to learn, and in all honesty I found it rather easy when i started learning as a child. For guitar I find it more confusing and difficult, and I hate the sound of electric guitars unaccompanied, so I would only be able to play acoustic, but my old guitar teacher said I wouldn't have as many song opportunities for that. Also, my music teacher is a pianist, so I could easily get the lessons, we have to have a hired guitarist for lessons on that. I know piano sounds like a better option, but I'm worried to commit myself to something that I may regret. I cannot learn both, but I suppose I could learn the other once I am older. So, what seems to be a better option? Piano or Guitar? (by the way, I own a guitar, but not a proper piano/keyboard. I do own a keyboard, but it has become quite old and useless)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2P63F6Chww&feature=related At first I was almost definitely going for piano, until I heard this, which made me begin to rethink my decision. Some guitar pieces are so peaceful, but so are many piano ones. moreVoting Question: Good guitar songs for beginners?
