i am a decent acoustic guitarist, but I never played any electric guitar or bass before. Now I have a sweet electric bass (i want to learn something new) and an amp. the problem is that i'm not really sure how to use the knobs on the bass and on the amp. if there is a treble knob on the bass guitar AND on the amp, which one should I use to adjust treble? and what position should they be in? My bass and amp each have four knobs, and i'd like to know where to start when trying to figure out what sound to make. Voting Question: should i give up learning the electric guitar ?

i picked up a electric guitar. I learned how to get the metal sound with a distortion pedal. I learned how to tune the guitar in normal position "D" and down tuned "C". I am learning a lot of chords by heart the usual open chords and also all those power chords that are so often used in metal such as D5,B5 ect.. Yet i can't play guitar. My hand is not strong enough and i don't know how to make my left hand work correctly i mute strings that should not be mutted. It's frustrating. Lots of theory and little to no play at all. I know how to read music tabs too. I know there is a device available at music store especially to build strengh in the fingers I am inversting lots of money to do tuning on my guitar new bridge,new pots ect.. I would hate not actually learning the guitar. more

Well to make it straight onto the point, My incompetence to find songs to learn has led me to some difficulties! (Not that I'm not trying but when I look through some of my music, they either ask for electric guitar/amp[that which i can't use at school, so pretty much only acoustics], multiple guitars, composed mostly of other instruments, or either just plain hard). Which annoys me because I only know a few songs on the guitar since I just started a year ago and just started taking advance guitar to start learning how to compose songs and further into scales.. and these other guys who have been doing guitar knows like 1000 billion songs that they can pull out of their... yea, and a few of mine aren't really as good compared to theirs and I'm looking to get better/learn songs. I like about almost any type of music, mostly around indie/rock/some metal. Ex. Drive - Incubus, Sanitarium - Metallica, Black Bird - The Beatles, Tears in Heaven - Eric Clapton, Don't Fear the reaper - Blue oystercult, I dare you - shinedown, and some others. So if anyone that knows some songs that know I could learn. Please list some, of any type that you like and some that I may like from about 5 to 15 (not 100 then I'll probably not look at it >.>). I have an electric guitar i got by someone because they didn't want it, it has a few minor electrical problems.....anywho My friend is pretty good on guitar and claims to have learned green days song "Time of your life" in 3 hours by teaching herself, and whenever she tries to teach me, i completely fail at it, i either can't get the strumming pattern down, or have a lot of trouble transitioning chords....
