Open Question: what song should i learn next on guitar?
i like bands like sublime, slightly stoopid, rebelution, and all that kinda stuff. ive been playing a bit over a year now and ive learned pretty much all the songs from these bands... well most of them. anyway ive been playing chords the whole time and im looking for songs with cool riffs and lick. like lead stuff. i learned the solos to most of the sublime stuff though. can you give suggestions to cool songs with cool guitar.... (you dont have to use the bands i listed. infact id rather you not suggest their songs) THANKS EVERYONE!!! moreResolved Question: Can a beginning guitar student start on an electric?
I saw a band this weekend that made me go home and compulsively buy an electric guitar on-line...The female lead guitarist was just that inspirational, however, I don't play and never have. And so, I have this electric guitar due to be delivered any day now, and I'm wondering if I've made a mistake. Should I have gotten an acoustic, or can I learn just as well on an electric? I haven't bought an amp yet, but I have my eye on a Marshall Mini Amp that I can use with earphones. Does that sound like a good start, amp wise? Well, if this doesn't work out (though I will certainly give it a good try), at least I didn't spend a lot. moreOpen Question: I started playing lead guitar and my fingers hurt.?
I've been playing rythm guitar for almost 9 months, and now I'm starting to learn some solos. My fingers have been fine and haven't hurt for a long time (except when I changed string brands) but now they hurt. Is it just because the 3 high strings are smaller or what? moreResolved Question: How hard is it to learn how to play the piano?
I already play the acoustic and lead guitar. moreOpen Question: Beginner Guitar Question! Halp :( :) :( :)?
So I'm starting off playing the guitar, love how the solo's sound in like every song (lead guitar gogogo!) , I got an Ibanez RG120 :) anyways, Basically i'm starting out with nothing, well...the instrument and amp yes, but no teacher, and no real knowledge about it. I've learned very little over the course of a few months, because the only thing i do is occasionally look up the tab to a song i like and learn the intro. i only know about 5 or 6. I heard learning chords was number one...however, when i look up how to play songs with chords, i don't understand any of it, and theres always all these "tune your guitar in low E" or odd things liek that, i'm assuming i'm getting too far ahead of myself. I'm thinking about lessons, which woudl be awesome, but if i COULDNT do that....can anyone recommend anything that could help me start? i tend to look at my guitar and say, you have every song in the world in you, i just have to figure out how to get it out... so, any advice...or anything that could get me started, is greatly appreciated. Thanks! moreOpen Question: Beginner Guitar question...?

(1)ok i have learned the CAGED scale patterns for the major's ... what now? ok i will do the melodic and harmonic ( or whatever) minor scales later on. it's just that these scales have not really helped me in any way except they increased my picking speed... i am still a not much better a lead guitarist and i have been playing bout a year and a few and i Practice like 2 - 3 hours a day and i am dedicated to becoming better!( 2) I am learning crazy train now, is it an achievement if i can like play the whole song?(which i cant... yet) sorry if my question doesn't make sense... but yeah and one last question (3)how can you measure your skill level ( sorry my english is not that bright ) moreResolved Question: I can't solo on my guitar at ALL. What can I do to improve?
Well...I've done it. I finally started my own Heavy Metal band. Only problem? I'm playing lead guitar, and I can't solo worth a goddamned, and I've been playing guitar for almost 4 years now. Admittedly I've concentrated a lot harder on rhythm, especially improving my power chords and acoustic-ish stuff. But I suppose soloing is my "achille's heal". I feel completely...weak. I feel like a child who's learning how to read, and it doesn't feel good. I want to get better, but I'm embarrassed to go back to the beginning. What do I do? What do I learn? And how can I prevent these feelings of...being stupid? moreVoting Question: Guitar songs that have stuff like Beast and the Harlot(chorus) in it?

Hello, I'm just a beginner-intermediate guitarist..... I can't play that much yet, but as in terms of right now, I can play Sweet Child O' Mine the whole song as lead guitar, and also I'm Alright by Neil Zaza (but of course, the simpler version by Jerry C, not the original with so much sweep picking). Is there any other song I might be able to learn to improve or have good learn on shredding, sweeping, and legato? Thanks for your help, and also some online guitar lesson site might help too. (in terms of music I like bands such as Avenged Sevenfold, or any type of metal/rock/hard rock band and even the ---core bands) Well, any type of rock would do.. any idea what song I should try? moreResolved Question: Can I learn to play guitar in 5 months?
I'm planning to lead worship at camp this year, and I need to know basic chords. I'll be lead singer as well, so it won't be necessary for me to shred or anything. Is it totally unrealistic to learn how to play in 5 months if I practice often? moreResolved Question: What do you want to do before you die?

I know the 5 positions of the A minor pentatonic scale, but I'm confused if I have to learn the B, C,D,E,F and G minor pentatonic scales in order to solo over chords. Do I have to learn all 5 positions of each minor scale to be good at soloing. Is the A minor pentatonic only good for the A minor chord? Is it more important to know 5 positions of the A minor pentatonic or to learn the rest of the scales? then after I learn all of the minor pentatonic scales learn the Major pentatonic scales..because I don't think I can remember them all. This is not the absolute beggining of te story, this is after they meet. How they meet is that she was dw at the pond by her house ( they own a vineyard, they are rich) and she brought her guitar, but she dropped her pick on accident and Will was walking by and saw it and gave it to her. Then she told him how she wasnt good at playing theguitar and wanted to learn, so she snuck out at night to have him teach her but she fell asleep while he was. So now they are at the carnival, and what will does is keep an object from each night they are together. In the first day they met, he saved a dandelion that he put inher hair, he second day he saved the stuffed animal he won her that she let him keep. Thats why he kept it, btw. Thats as far as I got, so read my story so far, and if there are any improvment i can make, please say so! Thanks! We entered the carnival, seeing people who were most likely tourists, for there were many this time of year in Northern California. I saw a family of five, two parents and their 3 kids holding balloons, and a bear, and a small red stuffed tiger which was probably won at one of the games. They all showed content expressions. There were a bunch of couples I could spot, all seeming a few years older then Will and I. A few girls my age walked by giggling and eyeing Will. He gave a blushed smile in the other direction. I gave them a look that told them Will was all mine, when in reality we were just friends. Will finally broke the silence in between him and I. “Amelia, what do ‘ya wanna do? There’s plenty o’ games. Rides? You wanna go on a ride?” “I don’t mind. Maybe we should play some games first, let the lines settle down. If we stay that long.” He didn’t quite process what I said, and it took him a second after he looked around the carnival area searching for a good game to fully do so. “Over here.” He grabbed my hand, leading me to a game booth. It was one of those booths were they lined up and organized ten cans in a triangular form, and you gave one dollar for two throws, which I thought was just like giving your money away. For me, at least, who could barely run in a straight line and be expected to be able to throw a ball and hit down ten cans from ten feet away. The booth was decorated with lights, inviting the sun to completely dissolve into the black star-filled summer sky. There were stuffed animals posing as prizes which were hung up on the frame of the booth, and at the back. A sign said that if you hit all cans down with only one ball, you win one of the smaller stuffed prizes. And if you get lucky and knock the cans down both trys, you win one of the bigger prizes. Will let go of my hand when he was giving the person running the booth one dollar, and the person running it gave him his first ball. “Watch me, Amelia. Ima knock ‘em down my first try.” I must admit I liked Will. He was confident, and easily pleased me. “Alright Will, but don’t be upset if you don’t knock them down your first-” He hit them all down, with his first try. Impressive, a boy with a good arm. I laughed because I was so incredibly impressed, and I had no way of explaining why. Guys usually figured having a reputation of dating nine million girls impressed a girl. I don’t know about all the other girls, but it sure did not impress me. I say that from experience. Guys were something I constantly worried about, why I couldn’t find Mr.Right, and why when I thought I did it all ended up with me disappointed. This is simply sub-stage one. Stage one would come when we, if we even did, started dating. Will passed my expectations on a first date with flying colors. Sub-stage one was the stage of friendship, before we dated. Stage one was when we get along so well, I feel like this is the one, and then he fails stage two, three, and four. I had a feeling maybe Will would ace my standards. But, then again, my standards don’t call for much. Will, I had a feeling, would pass up my standards, with more than 100 percent. But we’d just have to wait. My laughter was unusually filled with my amazement in him fulfilling what he said he would do. His eyes shun with the sentiment that he had accomplished what he said he would, in front of me. He laughed as well, and proved me wrong. But I liked being proven wrong when it came to him. “I told ya, Amelia! I got it! You wanna bet Ima knock down the cans my second try, too?” This time I thought I would just agree with him and not be proven wrong. But I loved the look he had, and the amazement I felt so much, I had to doubt him agI'm only 14, thats probably why I have a load of grammatical errors...And Ive never actully writtn a book before, but Ive one many writing awards so I figured it would be fun to... moreResolved Question: Good duet guitar songs to learn?
My girlfriend and I are looking for a few songs to learn that we could play together. We're both I guess still classified as upper range beginner to intermediate guitar players, but we're looking for a song with a solid chord rhythm and good lead riffs. Any suggestions would be great. moreVoting Question: I know death isn't the best choice I can have, but what can I do? Help me!?
Please... I need help. I just planned to kill myself today, because of the problems I have through all of my life. You won't believe if I'll tell you that I'm only 16 years and a half. Since I was a little boy, I wasn't listening to my parents. Ultimately, this thing leaded me on the worst paths that I can choose. I remember my mother telling me everyday when I was in the 8th grade to learn, let off the computer and games, and just learn to catch a good place on a good high school. I wasn't listening to her, and I caught a place on the worst high school in town... situated over a field. Is like 5 km every morning and the people out there are just creepy. They can't say or speak with someone else without shouting, adding bad words, adding stupid nicknames to that person or spitting them. I've been bullied in the elementary school too, but in high school is even worst. I told my parents to let me drop out an focus on something else, but they told me, in our country is thousands times harder to get yourself known in something else, even if you are 100% great or perfect! Be it music, or art or something else. A lot of people told me that I have a great talent in these things, but I realize what my parents are saying. Is hard to get noticed, and you need least high school or a school in that domain, but least high school. You can't appear on TV for example, if you don't have least high school diploma. They told me "You think if it would be completely useless, we would keep tell you to go? You need it when you don't know that you need it. A lot of doors will turn into walls if you don't have it." And I know they are right. Even if I wanna finish it, I can't go through all of this stress. We spend long hours every day to speak about this, and this is the only conclusion we go to. This is what they tell me, and I know they're right, but I can't, I just can't go. I tried some music therapy, listening to songs that makes me pleasure or playing guitar and drawing sometimes. I also changed my mind from negative to positive thoughts, but the situation didn't changed a bit. I've tried 3 times to change school, every time I had the possibility, but our school don't let students go. My family spoke with a lot of people they knew, but, the much they tried, they couldn't do anything. My school don't want to lose students. However, I know I bring a lot of shame to my family, because of my poor grades and stuff, but I just can't learn when I'm bullied. I just want all of this to end... to just stop speaking about this, hours and hours after my parents come out from work. I want all of this to stop. I feel I can't go anymore, even if I try too much. Death is the only one remaining and I planned to just jump over 3rd floor, to put and end in all of this. To just end a period, and start another. I want my parents and all of my family, grandparents, everyone, to just live in peace, without knowing me as a problem. I can't drop out and I can't go. If I'll just die, I will finish with this all. I know their lives might be hard without me, but I accumulate too much stress every day. Believe me, they told me they didn't stress that much in a lifetime, and I stressed so much in 16 years. Thanks for reading (if anyone has read)Yeah, I know school don't have any right to keep me in, but everything is corupt here. Whoever you speak to, it all depends on the ones in the school, no way to move, I tried in 2 years 3 times. Every time I had the possiblity as I said!Look how it is, I tried to move, but they just dont let you go. Only if you move with your family in another city. Even if you go here by yourself they dont let you. They have stupid rules. I spoke with important persons in both schools. In the other school they told me they would let me come, but it only depends of the current high school. They dont let anybody to go, no matter if you are in the 9th or 12th grade. Last month my parents spoke with at least 3 person, they was there many times. No one can do anything. Stupid rules, what can I say. moreResolved Question: I'm looking for a Cody Ingram from Nevada?
Yes I know, it's totally weird to be looking for someone on here, but I thought I'd give it a try anyway. If you (you being Cody) even have a yahoo account, please answer! I used to go to your school (FIS junior high) and I know you play guitar really well, which leads me to my question. Who taught you how to play? Did a family member teach you or did you learn on your own? Please, only answer of you are this person. Thanks! Lol I doubt I'm going to find the right person but it's worth a try. moreResolved Question: Are Lead Guitarists generally better than Rhythm Guitarists when it comes to skill?
Or the other way around? I can solo pretty well according to a lot of my friends. But when it comes to rhythm guitar, I absolutely suck. I really want to learn how to play rhythm because it seems so fun. So what do you guys think?I know plenty of chords. I can do barre chords, I can do major and minor, dominant 7th, and some 9th chords. I just suck at strumming.Oh and not to mention powerchords, triads, etc. I finger pick pretty well thoughI'm learning the Jimi Hendrix cover of Hey Joe. I have all the lead parts, riffs and solo down. I just can't do the damn chords.... lolKeith Richards is one of my favorite guitarists!Cowboy Neal at the wheel: That's exactly what I try to do. But i'm just saying, I suck at rhythm. I want to be a well rounded guitarist so that's why i'm working on it moreVoting Question: I wanna learn an instrument, which one out of these?
I either want to learn drums, guitar, bass, or something else. Not sure yet, but I plan on making a band with some of my musical friends. :) I'm going to be the lead singer (and whatever else I learn, like guitar, bass, or drums) and yeah. A couple of my friends know how to play guitar and drums. I'm not sure. Please help? :D 10 pts to the most NONNEGATIVE answer and the most helpful. :) It'd be great if you could give me a sight that teaches you with a vid. :) Thank yoouuu! :DBtw, I own an amp and a bass guitar. I'm not quite sure I want to play bass though. >.<I never thought of it that way, about not very many people singing and playing the bass. I will most likely just play the bass. I've been reading stuff about David Bowie's Berlin albums, and apparently, Brian Eno wrote half the songs on Low and 'Heroes' (he also played the keyboards), Adrian Belew played mandolin and guitar on Lodger, Robert Fripp played lead guitar on 'Heroes' (the album), and Simon House played violin on Lodger. That's, like...my dream band! I can't even believe half of this stuff. This is ROBERT FRIPP we're talking about here! From King Crimson! Am I just ignorant and misinformed or does anybody else know all this stuff? I mean, Bowie, Eno, and Fripp? Gahhhhh...eargasm. aaaallllrrigghhttt. so. i really really really really really likee this guy i love him. he doesnt know. hes about the most perfect guy in the absolute world and i just want him sooo bad. there might be a very slim chance maybe 10/100 chance that he might like me. anyways, hes in the play and since he is the drama teacher doesnt want any of the leads to have a gf/bf (of coarse hes a lead)(were doing oliver and hes dodger, 7th grade) anyways, he has a secret girlfriend. and i think she is just the absolute luckiest girl in the world. but i dont think there good for each other AT ALL. lets just say the kid i likes name is.... trevor..? and the girl is..... ashleyy... ( btw thats not there real names.) SO trevor, is like drama, football, he skateboards, he plays guitar and he is sooo nice and funny. perfect right! and ashley, is.... well none of the above except for drama, funny and nice haha. but me... im funny nice, i like football, i have a guitar, im trying to learn how to play, and im working backstage for the play. i have a skateboard(not very good) but i rrollar skate, sorta the same. and i think he is just perfect in every single freaking wayyy. and today.. since hes in a play he went to a sschool to like teach dances and stuff. it was the elementary i went to, and of coarse just somehow ( ;] ) i went the same day from 230-330 to see my teachers. i told him i was there and hes like where are you? and im like in the front and hes like im near the gym come over! and im like.. okayy. so i walk about 5 feet he sees me, waves fanatically(if thats a word.. haha) and waves me over. i come over and hes like can i have a hug? and of coarse i give him one and it is awesome. i feels sparks. even tho those are for kisses, i feel them with hugs for him. *sigh* i want him. what should i do. moreVoting Question: How can I get a non-rock singer comfortable singing rock?
My friend is a female (low alto) that sings mainly jazz and R&B, and sings it very well. Her tone is well built for those genres, such as very soft and mellow lows, a smooth and thick-sounding midrange, but her high end is too mellow and lacks power and presence to cut through the mix like a "rock voice" should be able to. Because of this, I'm guessing, she's afraid to venture out of her genre and/or not motivated to. She sounds a LOT like Brooke Fraser. (Youtube her for her solo work..) Now I'm a guitar player, and I can go from a smooth jazz tone to a lead rock tone with a twist of a knob and the press of a button, so I may be biased. I believe that no one's voice can be built solely for rock and rock alone. R&B singers, country singers, and pop singers just need to learn vocal techniques used in rock, and that there is no "ideal" rock vocal tone. All this is just my opinion. I was in her shoes a few years back. On guitar I started out playing jazz, moved to blues-rock and pop-rock, then to hard rock, and finally metal. If I didn't venture out of my genre, I wouldn't be the useful guitarist/musician that I am now. I hope you all can see how strongly I feel about this. Is there anything I can tell her to get her to get her more comfortable singing rock? Or anywhere outside her genre for that matter. Any artists that trained in another genre that later moved to rock? moreResolved Question: I want to learn improvisation of guitar solos. I play rhythm, what should I learn next?
I've been playing guitar for almost 4 years. I play pretty good rhythm and I have basic knowledge of scales and keys (what chords should be used in a song) and playing lead (but I only know how to learn and memorize lead guitar solos of songs). I also know how to apply some lead guitar playing techniques, such as fingering pull off, hammer on, vibrato, bend, et. al. But I want to learn guitar solo improvisation, what should I study next? What are the first easy scales I should memorize? What music genres should I learn first?Sorry for the typo, there should be a comma after the word 'fingering'.I can't afford to take lessons from a guitar teacher (though I know it is indeed the best way to learn) due to lack of money, so I will just teach myself. moreResolved Question: What would you tell a beginning guitar player to learn, advice?
So a guy who is setting up a new server for work caught me looking at guitars online and told me he just got one a couple months ago. It got me wondering, since I am self taught, I had to piece things together throughout the years. It's been about 15 or 16 years now and I completely forgot how hard it is to start learning guitar, just hearing a simple word like hammer-on, or pull off, or harmonic was completely foreign back then, but is as simple as 1-2-3 to me nowadays. I wanted to give him a couple tips for learning, so I told him about chromatic exercises and how to search for stuff on youtube. What I wanted to know was, how did everyone here first start learning, or what did you learn? Did you start off trying to play rhythm or lead? Did you take lessons or self teach yourself? Stuff like that. Also, what are a couple basic things I can tell this guy? Like, what key should he start with? I started with the key of C. Do you think that's a good key to start in? He said he'll start taking lessons, but I figured I would tell him to also get a beginner DVD and chord/scale book, as well as asking other guitarists for tips. Do you guys have any good beginner DVD's and books for him to get?Damn, sounds like I need a tutor as well... lol.Nowhere in the same sentence or paragraph did I mention scales or keys with hammer-ons/pull offs. This question isn't to try to teach myself guitar, its to give advice to someone else just starting out a couple of things to start learning to get his feet wet, so I was making a reference to how hard it is to learn simple things in the beginning, things that are second nature to me, like hammer-ons and pull-offs. I have no clue how you got that confused with keys which I mentioned 3 or 4 paragraphs later. Try reading the question/questions again. moreResolved Question: How do you practice a solo on guitar?
I sort of have problems practicing some solo's by a band called Children of Bodom. I can play the lead guitarists rythm but once I get to the solo I find it really difficult. What are some ways that I can practice a song and fully learn it? Thanks. moreResolved Question: bar (barre) chords.....?

PRS Tremonti SE, good guitar? im gonna get that along with a fender frontman 212R amp. any changes i should make to the guitar to make it sound better?... right now im using some offbrand strat copy so i think itll be quite an upgrade.... Thanks in advance.yeah i mostly do regular chords and lead so the tips of my fingers have calusisalso its not my fingers hurting, its my muscles in my wrist and sometimes arm, depending on what position im in. moreVoting Question: question for those who started on electric guitar?
so i recently began to learn how to play guitar, but it seems like acoustic would have been a better choice, because it also seems like chords ring more clearly on them, and i would be more sure if i was right or not as far as how the chords actually sound. i wanna play a lot of acoustic songs, it seems like it would be great for learning. right now the only thing i see myself learning is how to play guitar tablature, and id be missing out on chords (i am practicing them, but i cant practice on actual songs it seems like because they dont ring like an acoustic would, so as a result im always speculating if it should sound like this or that) where am i going wrong? sorry if some of this doesnt sound accurate but i guess im just asking where i should start from and where i should lead into when starting from an electric guitar?val i dont understand your answer... it seems as if everything ive gone to, including the book im reading on how to play guitar says learning other peoples songs is a great way to learn. i also share that opinion with you on being "stereotypical", but obviously you build from the basics and up. for instance being able to play power chords, pull offs, hammer ons... all come with practice, and from playing other peoples music. i mean i cant just start making things up on my own right off the bat, i need to practice how to move up and down the fret board cleanly while doing these things right? what better way then through other peoples music? what im asking is where did you start from an electric guitar, through chords, tabs, or what? chords seem more geared towards an acoustic guitar, but i could be wrong. at the same time chords are sometimes deemed "essential". and if i wanna learn through other peoples music, that would be correct. but with an electric, it seems different?and not everybody learns through lessons, i know plenty who have learned themselves. i am a quick learner, but i have a lot of questions. but thanks for the input! moreVoting Question: praise band question?
Okay i play in my church's praise band i play electric guitar i only played once and the guy who runs it said i will playing again real soon but i think too myself if i am any good at guitar so my question is if i wasn't good at guitar or couldn't handle it would i be in the praise band? i mean it is leading worship for the youth group(teens) and when was at a guitar practice with my friend who is the main guitarist for praise band i was learning some songs for when i am on stage and after that like 15 minutes before i left i was doing some sweep picking just some 3 string arpeggios and the guy running the praise band also the youth leader said i have talent i just need to apply myself what does that mean?and other people said i was good and one person said amazing so if i am good how come i don't believe that is it just low confidence? please answer all the questions. moreResolved Question: To play guitar in a band, do I need to read music?
I've been playing for a few months, and originally, I thought maybe it was possible for me to learn songs by tabs and occasionally by ear. I always admired those who could listen to a song and hear which chords and notes are being played. I use sites like Ultimate-guitar and 911 tabs, I can read tabs and everything, but is that no use for a future musician. Someone told me that no one reads music anymore, everyone follows tabs. If I had a choice, I would prefer to follow my ears then sheet music, but I imagine it would be really hard if I were in a band with someone, and they had an idea for a song, and the only way they could show me, is through written music. I tried in the past to read music, but I was younger then, and so I'll give it another go now. But before I start working up a brain sweat, is this really necessary? People always complain when I miss out extra Information about myself, so here goes! I'm 14 and I want to play in a band with my sister (an awesome drummer), in the near future. I practise rock/indie/pop-punk songs, and play both lead and rhythm. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get back to me with a really good answer! Thanks for reading! moreVoting Question: Need help getting my life together to move forward?

All Answers Would be Appreciated. moreResolved Question: What is a good name for this character?
This is for a fan fiction, I won't go into what it's for. But basically the main character has a twin sister who does not possess the same let's say "abilities". When her twin goes off to learn about his abilities she is stuck going to your average public school (this is set in England). No-one ever pays her any attention and she constantly forgotten about. They even call her by the wrong name which hurts her a lot. They know nothing about her, they've never met any of her friends and don't know what she gets up to at school. She is in fact a very smart, pretty and talented girl. She gets almost straight As (bar one or two subjects where she gets a B). She's singer and can dance okay, in fact she's captain of her school's Glee club (I don't know if British schools have Glee clubs but they do in my story), she's an excellent piano player having self taught herself, can play quite a few songs on the acoustic guitar because her best friend plays and has taught her a few things like I'm like a bird by Nelly Furtardo and stars in many lead roles of her school drama plays (she's in drama club). She has a large and strong circle of friends and a few boys chasing after her yet no boyfriend (may get one in the story). However the girl feels left out when amongst her family and their friends who all have these abilities she's the only one who doesn't. She feels overshadowed by her twin who is the favourite. Everyone thinks she has no talent but she does just of a different sort, she can control elements and do all sorts of things that in its own little way is ten times more powerful than all there's put together and since she is not being taught to control them it is dangerous and these problems have the intensity to destroy things like buildings, houses etc. The only problem is that these powers are influenced or rather the more intense the person's feelings are the stronger and more dangerous they are. And with the girl being depressed (her family forgets she exists, she feels ashamed and hateful towards herself because she doesn't have the powers they've got), sense of self loathing and anger towards these people with abilities will this 15 year old choose to use these powers for good or for evil? Either way will her so called family cotton on to the fact that she has these powers before it's too late or before she gets herself or someone else she knows killed? Will these powers help make the world a better place or make it crash down in pieces around them (metaphorically and literally)? She is 15 years old as stated before, with black hair that's shoulder length, green eyes with blue flecks, she's about 5'3 and is reasonably thin. Thinking of all this what is the best name for her? I was thinking something sweet so you can't think anything bad of her. I was at first thinking Grace but now I'm not sure. moreResolved Question: Is there a different kind of Music Theory to vocals than guitar?
So i've have a band that i play guitar for named Kailey's catalyst, we are just a high school band and i dont really expect much from it but experience. However in writing the songs for the band i have come across the fact that i not doing to well with the vocals, more the melodies than lyrics and i do know some music theory. im willing to put effort into learning as much as i can about theory and i was wondering if there is a different theory for vocals than say i would use to write the chords and lead for guitar? moreVoting Question: How to Play a Stylophone?
Hey guys. Me and my friends are starting a band and they can both play lots of instruments, bass guitar, electric guitar, drums and piano, and I am the lead vocalist. But because our influences are 1980's disco and our main genre is Electro/synthopop I have decided to learn an instrument. I came across the Stylophone when listening to Little Boots, Electric Artist, and I found her small instrument to be a perfect fitting for me as I will be singing as well as using an instrument. I know the basics of piano playing, like the where the keys are and I can play some very simple things like C Major. But what I was wondering if any of you knew any good Stylophone tutorials that would give me a complete lesson on how to play it because it involves some complicated stuff like octaves and I need someone to give me more than the basics. Thanks :) moreVoting Question: how do you compose something for 2 guitars?
I'm in a band, we have 1 guitarist but when we record we like to add other people just to show everyone the talent our town has, Folsom's filled with musicians, and we use a 2nd guitarist a lot, but usually the only difference we have between the 2 is Shane, our lead guy, does arpeggio (picking each string), and the 2nd guy Griffin strums it. I'm just learning a little bit about guitar, and I write most of the songs (but the rest of my band edits them a little). So how do I write 2 guitar parts to be played at the same time, like without sounding like 2 completely unrelated songs? is there some kind of set of chords that sound good playing at the same time? help is appreciated.thing is, I'm gonna use info from both of these answers, so idk exactly how to give 1 of you the best answer. I'm gonna wait until it goes to voting or whatever, thanks for the help btw! moreResolved Question: How to Write a Song with a Guitar?
Ok, So I play Guitar and Drums DAILY!. I love to play it's my passion and I have had a natural talent at it. Also, I love to write songs (Country, Rock, Blues) I write them hearing the guitar and drums behind the words and the melody just flows a little lead guitar and its full throttle in my head, however, my big problem is trying to play the guitar to the songs I write. I can never find the right chords or sounds.. So I have tried many times writing songs with my guitar, however I just cannot seem to make it sound the way I want (I am using Acoustic, though I have used my Electric hoping for a chance that it would help). My problem is I cannot seem to express my music on the guitar nor Can I seem to write the songs when I am playing the guitar.. I thought I was limited on chords so I went to youtube and learned new chords and lead licks, I went to guitar shops and bought books on how to play various chords, I have a poster with about 100 different guitar chords on it. I have learned'em all now, I have them down really good, however I still am stumped and cannot seem to pickup on it nor can I solve the problem. So I know it now isn't a lack of knowing chords, it's just some kind of mental block or something. It really sucks because I have made tons of Guitar rhythms using an electric guitar than used my Boss BR-8 to add in my own drums and bass guitar as well as lead, and it always seems to come out awesome, I just can never seem to pick up on writing music with the guitar or getting words to my melodies.. I am looking for any and every suggestion possible. I seriously have been working on this since I was a freshman in High School in 2005, I am graduated and 19 years old and still cannot figure it out.. ALSO, I took ALL the music classes at my High School (4 years worth) from guitar through Bass and Percussion, I also took the History Of American Music (HAM) and Chorus And Band classes as well. So I have a well known knowledge of Music but for some reason this has been bothering me for sometime now!. ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks! moreResolved Question: Whats a good song i should learn on guitar(Read Details)?

I can already play: Iron Man- Black Sabbath They Say- Scars on Broadway One Step Closer- Linkin Park No More Sorrow- Linkin Park Ocean Avenue- Yellowcard Give it All- Rise Against Partial: Give it away- Red hot chili peppers Bleed American- Jimmy Eat World I play lead, and im into music from rock to metal preferabaly hard rock and metal moreResolved Question: Should I buy this electric guitar?
I think I've asked this question here for the 3rd time. -It's an unpainted (but still looks good) lightwood RJ BluesBreaker Les Paul (yes, it's a copy), about US$120 on sale. I've tried it, and it feels and sounds good for me. One of my major concerns is that the brand is not well-known and is by a newly-founded company. Despite this, I've read a lot of positive reviews on it online, all of them gave high scores. -I'm not a beginner, but I'm also not an expert. I can do pretty good rhythm and I study lead. I play a lot of rock, many types of rock, but more on the heavy/hard stuff than the soft ones. I've only been playing electric guitar for maybe 3-4 years. -I jam with my friends a lot, sometimes I play at presentations for parties and other events, but most of the time I just have fun playing/learning songs in my bedroom or teach guitar to my younger brother. Do you think I should buy this? If not, can you recommend others for the same price? moreVoting Question: How can you play electric guitar tabs on an acoustic?
Im new to this. i wanna learn to play Advice by the Pillows, but the lead goes all the way to 21st fret i have 20. WTF? moreResolved Question: I'm a 52 yr old Female and want to play electric guitar. Love Rock & Metal. Crazy? To old? Or go for it?
Should I start learning on Bass or go for lead? moreResolved Question: Writing lead guitar and solo's?
So please tell me if I need to spend more time learning scales or what. So I can pretty easily come up with a combination of chords, not matter what they are, minor, major or 7th, and improvise correctly to them just by ear. But when there's no chords to play along with, I have trouble cause I dont really know scales, and I just go by ear. So in songs such as, since i've been lovin you by led zeppelin, all jimmy has is a drum beat in the beginning, so, how does he stick, (with no chords) to the key of c minor? please help me out! moreVoting Question: What are some good well known songs to learn to play on the guitar?
I have been playing guitar for about a year now but haven't really learned many songs until recently. So far the songs I have learned are hotel california, how to save a life, wish you were here, wonderwall, i will follow you into the dark, over my head, boulevard of broken dreams, and a few others I can't think of at the moment. I would like to learn some more songs that are fairly easy to learn and play, and are well known so other people can sing along. So what are some songs like that, I'd like to learn more classic rock songs, but other songs like the ones I mentioned are fine too. I can play most open chords, but I can't play bar chords or power chords very well yet, I definitely want to get better at those soon but for now I want to stick with open chords. Also, I would really like to learn something by led zeppelin but all of their songs I have tried such as black dog, over the hills and far away, and heartbreaker have a lot of lead guitar, and it is currently impossible for me to sing when I play lead guitar. I love to play those parts, especially parts like the intro of over the hills and far away, but I'd like to learn some songs by led zeppelin with only chords, or songs like wish you were here with lead guitar, but just chords when there are words, so does anyone know of any led zeppelin songs like that? moreTop Learn Play Lead Guitar Links
