Resolved Question: What type of guitar should I get?
I have been wanting for a while now to learn to play the guitar. But I am unsure what type of guitar I should get. Because I don't want to get one that will break easily, but I don't want to waste my money on something that I might not like, or might not play that often. I want an acoustic guitar of good quality that's not gonna cost me an arm and a leg. Any suggestions? moreResolved Question: Which is more worth the effort? Guitar or Piano?
I've asked a question similar to this before, but I am still very unsure as to which will benefit me more in the long run. People say that if you can play the piano, you can play anything (hypothetically speaking, you wont be able to play any instrument), but they also say that piano is hard to learn, and in all honesty I found it rather easy when i started learning as a child. For guitar I find it more confusing and difficult, and I hate the sound of electric guitars unaccompanied, so I would only be able to play acoustic, but my old guitar teacher said I wouldn't have as many song opportunities for that. Also, my music teacher is a pianist, so I could easily get the lessons, we have to have a hired guitarist for lessons on that. I know piano sounds like a better option, but I'm worried to commit myself to something that I may regret. I cannot learn both, but I suppose I could learn the other once I am older. So, what seems to be a better option? Piano or Guitar? (by the way, I own a guitar, but not a proper piano/keyboard. I do own a keyboard, but it has become quite old and useless)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2P63F6Chww&feature=related At first I was almost definitely going for piano, until I heard this, which made me begin to rethink my decision. Some guitar pieces are so peaceful, but so are many piano ones. moreVoting Question: what are some seriously easy songs to play on the acoustic guitar?
i am a serious beginner like i just got it 2 weeks ago and i can play a few chords like G, C, D but i can learn more easily i just need to know the songs and how to strum them. if you have any songs or tutorials you think will help please answer. moreResolved Question: My first acoustic guitar, I'm buying strings?
I have decided to invest my money and time in learning to play the acoustic guitar. I have never played a guitar before of any sort. and since I am not sure that I will enjoy playing the guitar i have decided not to spend so much on it. i am going to buy the Ibanez IJV50 JamPack Quick Start Value package. And i have read reviews that suggest that I buy light or extra light strings so that i can play more easily since i have never played before. What type of strings should i buy, if i am on a budget. and want the best for my future in playing the guitar. what would be your suggestion for my particular case? Please and thank you. moreResolved Question: What strings to use on my new Ozark resonator?
Ok well I bought a resonator guitar from a local music shop, put a deposit on it, and I'm picking it up tommorow, as I've never owned a resonator guitar before I don't know what strings to ask for?! I've been playing guitar on a regular acoustic/electric for about 4 years and play almost nothing but Chicago style blues with a bit of jazz in there, so I need strings that'll allow me to slide (with fingers, not slider) very easily, like normal steel strings (I'm used to gauge 12). But I also want to learn delta style slide guitar (my reason for buying a resonator) so I want strings that are friendly to regular EADGBE blues, give a nice full loud tone, are good for both finger picking and using a pick, and that can also be used well with a slide. However my blues aren't too bendy so that's not an issue. So if you know of some magical strings that match all my criteria please leave a response! Thanks alot, Sam. moreResolved Question: How to learn to play guitar?
I'm 13 years old and I LOVE the guitar! I love the way it sounds and (being the rocker that i am) hear it in all my music! I was listening to "Medicate" by AFI and listening to the solo made my passion for this instrument grow (lol). I have a small acoustic in my closet and it's been sittin there collecting dust since christmas... 2 years ago. I gave up on trying to learn twice because i couldn't figure out how to tune the damn thing and the second time when the chords were getting difficult. My parents wanted to get me lessons but once the recession hit, it wasn't an option anymore. I want to learn how so badly! I'm a really fast learner so it should be quite easy for me once i get an explanation by a person and not a really vague beginners book! I found a tuner app on my ipod and apparently its a really good one so i guess i can use that to get me started but its the notes and stuff that im having trouble with. Any help? Websites? Tips? (free would be best) What about your experiences (if you play), how did you learn? Was it easy? Any tips on sticking to it, and not givin up so easily? THANKS!Sorry if this is in the wrong category... moreResolved Question: Any Advice? I Wanna Learn Guitar..?

I'm trying to learn acoustic guitar. My fingers seem big or should i say stubby, they're not really bigger than your average fingers but when i try to finger a cord one finger can disrupt another string. I'm really confused on how to fix this problem much less change finger positions easily. Maybe i'm just not meant to play guitar. I'm just wondering how others do it. moreResolved Question: Acoustic Guitar Help??????

For the past few months i have been interested in learning to play the guitar and i have got a few questions, first i want to learn to play the acoustic guitar, is steel string acoustic guitar the most common one cause that's the one im planning to buy, what brands are good for a starter and are reasonably priced, im going to go check a second hand store also, Also what other materials should i buy along with the guitar (picks etc.) Also i plan on trying to teach myself how to play are there sources out there the can make it easily understandable, and once im done learning and playing the acoustic i plan on moving to to electric. moreResolved Question: Easiest guitar to learn on?
I'm starting to learn guitar but I'm having trouble with chords. I always hold down strings I shouldn't or don't hold them hard enough on the fret. I have an acoustic with steel strings and the action is kind of high. I tried my instructor's guitar and I could play chords on his rather easily. I'm getting discouraged by my guitar. Is there an inexpensive guitar that is good for beginners? moreResolved Question: What are the differences in playing electric and acoustic guitars?
What are the differences in playing electric and acoustic guitars? If I learnt to play the acoustic can I then pick up electric easily or is there much difference? moreVoting Question: How often should you change the strings on a guitar?
I have an acoustic guitar, and things just don't seem right. I've tuned it, but it still doesn't sound right, but I'm buying a tuner so I'm solving that problem. I also have a piano to tune with, so i'm working on it. When I go to play frets, I find it very difficult to keep the chords down, and when i can it doesn't sound good. The strings are very tight, so i'm wondering if I need to change the strings. I got the guitar used from my uncle last year around Christmas, and I haven't changed the strings yet. Is that the reason I can't play it well, it hurts to play the frets? P.S. I'm new to the guitar, but I want to learn. My guitar is used, but my sister has a guitar that is brand new. I can finger the frets on her guitar very easily, and they sound great. Her's is a Yamaha, and mine is an Aria. They are both acoustic, but I want to know why her's doesn't hurt to play, but mine does. Please help! Thank You!!! moreResolved Question: should i be a solo artist or in a duet?
i am currently in a duet with my best friend. i write most of the songs and we both play the acoustic guitar. kinda like the country duet 'the wreckers'. but we dont sing country, we sing more soft rock. i could easily do it by myself but i love having someone else there to share the stage. there is only one problem my friend's mother doesnt want her to do this when shes older because she doesnt believe that she can do it. my mom is totally into it and believing in me. shes already driven me to auditions. but my friend has never gone to one. we both live in ontario, canada. close to toronto. she goes to a different school then me and she lives 45 minutes away. i see her every other weekend. and some times on wednesdays after school. we have been good friends since we were three. my friends think i have a really good voice and it had a small bit of rock in it. i think my friend is a pretty good singer too. the thing is, every other weekend, i ask her if she wants to write songs or start putting guitar to our work and she says maybe later, and within the whole weekend, we barely do anything! she wants an electric guitar for christmas and keeps telling me to get a bass guitar cuz i said love the bass sound more than the electric. i dont know what to do?! she wont work as hard as me and she wants another guitar already? we have a guy that already agreed to making us a proffesional demo cd and we were supposed to go have a meeting with him but she doesnt want to because we dont have the musical instruments to it? we r both 15. i am dead serious, i wanna to do this, famous, or not. she wants to too but shes not showing it! is she overwhelmed?! she says she is not in a hurry to do anything cuz of her braces. am i supposed to wait for her? am i supposed to go solo? please help me. and i dont care if we get famous or not cuz fame is just a bonus to the fact that u r doing what u love to do. i have been in about 7 huge musicals and i got solos and duets and i loved them. thats how i know i love performing no matter how big the crowd. please help me. we are still in the process of learning acoustic. she knows more acoustic. and also plays piano better than me. but i am learning both right now and i am the sorta main singer. i also dont think she would be friends with me anymore if i told her i want to be solo.solo or duet? moreResolved Question: Learning/Playing the guitar?
About a year ago I got a brand new $100 Indiana acoustic guitar. I think its pretty nice, it still looks like i got it yesterday. I'm..alright at playing it. It's not holding my attention lately but I'm not really sure why. I like to play faster, more upbeat stuff. Should I start playing electric??? I absolutly love the sound of both guitars and I find it amazing that I've been able to learn the things that I have. Its just, I'm not sure. I get bored easily with it nowadays. I've heard electric is easier to play when it comes holding down the strings and such but I'm not sure. What do you think?? Any experiences you'd like to share??? What's a good CHEAP(key word CHEAP) starter guitar and amp. I'm REALLY low on money but any help is wonderful. I started playing guitar like 6 months ago. I have learned and practiced some open and barre chords on my acoustic guitar, and can now easily move between them, while making decent sound. I'm practicing my A shaped barres, and can play Amin barre chords all the way down) What is next? I am starting to get bored! The problem is I have not practiced any song, (well, apart from hotel california), and all I can do with my right hand is strum with a pick. moreResolved Question: what are some good brands for acoustic guitars?
