Learn To Play Bass Guitar Online Questions asked
Voting Question: Where can I find some good funk (and beginner) bass lessons online?
I'd like to learn some nice funky bass lines, but can't get any good learning material in my local stores. Where can I download any good e-books, video lessons or just nice websites on this topic. Also, my cousin just got his firs bass guitar, where can I get some basic beginner material on how to play bass for him (I'd teach him myself, but we can't see each other often enough)? moreResolved Question: i have bass guitar questions?

Can you answer?
Im getting a bass guitar in a few days for my b-day and ive been waiting a year! Well I just had a question about sheet music, its been awhile since ive been in music class but I remember the basics of reading music. To me its easier to play instruments using notes, then tabs i find tabs difficult. So if you buy a guitar song book does it have the bass notes in it too? Id assume it'd be by the bass clef lol. So if a song book doesnt have bass clef it isnt for bass guitar? Do you have to buy altogether seperate song books just for bass then regular guitar? My dad plays guitar and he has several song books i wanna learn from but most dont have a bass clef. How can you be sure when buying a book online, that it has bass notes in it? moreVoting Question: Should I play the viola or violin?
I have been really keen to take up playing the violin for a while now, I was looking at violins online and then saw viola and I had never really heard the viola's sound much as it was always overshadowed by the violin and cello in my opinion but I searched the viola online and the sound is beautiful! Much more so than the violin's. I would love to start playing the viola but is it harder to learn than the violin? I also plan to self-teach as I have done so successfully with the piano and bass guitar. Many thanks. moreResolved Question: Online free piano lessons?
I've been playing the bass guitar for over 4 years. I wish to buy a decent keyboards and learn the essential piano things which will allow me to compose. Like chords, basic technique etc. Is there a good youtube channel or a website for piano lessons? moreResolved Question: Music lessons-price worth it, asking for less?
hey..i was thinking of getting bass guitar lessons to improve my playing and this person that teaches in a close by city offers 3-4 hrs for 50.00. Is that worth it? What do you look for in a good music teacher? I want to make sure I get what I am paying for. I have an idea about what I'd like to learn and he told me he could help. Is there a way I can ask him if he can go a little lower for the first lesson to see if we are a good match as teacher/student? Is it not good to ask someone if he can go a little lower? On his site, he said the classes are 45.00 but then when I talked to him online through email he upped the price to 50. Can I ask him about what happened to the 45 price and if I can go a little lower since I don't have a job now?The teacher is a student at the local university, and on the site it said he has only been teaching for 4 years....not much to me. I've been playing for longer than 4 years.....but I am asking him because I think he may have more skill that he can teach me but I don't know. Bottom line, would it hurt to ask if I can get it for cheaper than 45? I think that's too much. moreResolved Question: Is the Violin difficult to start up quickly?
Two years ago, the only instruments I could play were the trombone and I could play a few chords on the piano. Since then, I've learned to the play the Ukulele really well, the guitar, and the bass. I have been finding more and more situations that I wish I could someone who could play the violin for various reasons, but we don't have any stringed instruments at our school other than an electric guitar and bass. So I guess I'm asking, is Violin something that's extremely expensive and hard to start to play? I've heard it's difficult for children, but I'm used to holding up an instrument and using my arms to move it (the trombone). It seems like an instrument that would be expensive, but I found some beginners online for under $45, and I can pay that. My parents would be thrilled to learn that I want to try. I'm asking if it's something that requires lessons or if it's something I can learn on my own, like I did with ukulele and others. moreResolved Question: getting my bass setup?

I have been playing bass guitar for over 5 years and my playing has always been like a normal teenager who is self taught. I literally know nothing about music theory. As I look into and see how a little bit starts to help my writing abilities, I have grown an interest for it. My high school offers a class, but it is for students who already know some music theory (aka band member) So, Where should I start to learn about music theory? Yes there is a ton online, but a lot of it is directionless and not so good to start with. I want to start learning so I will see if I will want to take college classes moreResolved Question: Walking the Bass Guitar Books?

I really would like to learn bass guitar and I have a million questions: *how hard is it to learn? is there a place online / book I can buy / dvd set or anything to help me? *what kind of bass should I get? I used to play the guitar for about a year and a half when i was younger, i then tried out the actual orchestra bass but gave that up because i had a horrible teacher and it was huge! but i did love how it sounded. now i am back in the groove and wanting to jam, i bought a epiphone starter pack and i am wondering where i should start off. I have seen many websites and some great you tube videos that can help me, but what i need is a "foundation" of the bass so i can get jamming. should i consider lessons? or are there anything you have seen online that would be great for a real starter bassist, like notes, chords....i have no clue where to start! lol any and all tips and advise are welcome cause i need opinions on where i can start learning. most of the online stuff is ether advanced or too basic like learning the parts of the guitar. i just need to know how to start playing. moreResolved Question: EASY 10 POINTS READ ALL OF IT WHEN I POSTED IT BEFORE PEOPLE SAID THINGS I WROTE IN MY Q's SO READ ALL OF IT!!?

I'm planning on buying a bass guitar so I can play in my friend's bass. I've never really played an instrument except a violin like 5 years ago. I've been reading The Complete Idiot's Guide To: Playing Bass Guitar and the Squier Bass starter pack I'm thinking of getting comes with an instructional dvd. My question is should I pay the extra $70 at Best Buy for 4 lessons, get a teacher (which I really don't want to do because I'd have to waste money), or learn through books, playing by ear, and looking stuff up online. And yes I know I should learn musical notes instead of tab or both moreResolved Question: my brother lost interest in playing the drums!!?
My younger sister plays piano while I play guitar. My dad wanted my brother to try out drums, so he started taking lessons in november. At first it was really hard for him to learn since we didn't have a drum set. Then when we got one, he was doing okay. A few weeks later, he got more interested in it but not for long. He stopped playing, but continued lessons. He had football, so that stopped him a bit, but football is done. I never hear him play. It got worse when he finally felt like not going to lessons. He told me that his teacher teaches him the same thing almost every week. I think it cuz he doesn't practice. When he was interested in playing drums, he told me that he wanted to play bass guitar. At the same time since they go together. And when he told me he was losing interest in drums, he told me he really wants to play bass. It would be nice to have a bass player, but what about drums? This is bad for a few reasons. We spent 700 dollars on his kit. He is still taking lessons since November, once a week, about 20 dollars per half hour. He didn't get much out of playing the drums. Our family is having a haed time with money, and he wants a bass. So what should I do? Should he play bass? Should I take over, I know a few beats. If so, should I just look online, or take the teacher he has. And what can I do to make him more interested in it? Thanks and happy mom day! moreResolved Question: I learning Bass Guitar simple?
I currently play saxophone, percussion, clarinet and keyboard... Im thinking of taking up bass guitar in my free time so I can get with some of my buddies and jam out with them. I would like to know if I pick up a bass guitar if it would be easy to teach myself with method books and online stuff. If push comes to shove I would probably get a few private lessons. I can read notes and rhythms... Im guessing the only thing that will be new to me is learning the notes on the guitar and finger positions... I do now what to play tabs though, I want to read notes. How easy is this? (learning bass guitar) I have no interest in slap bass btw. I don't know if those are two different instruments to even begin with. : ) All the help will be great! Thanks! moreResolved Question: Would a Yamaha RBX4 A2 bass be too big for me to play? (small hands)?
I'm thinking of learning the bass guitar, and from what I've researched, the Yamaha RBX4 A2 bass ( http://bass-guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Yamaha-RBX4A2-Lightweight-Double-Cutaway-Bass?sku=514259&src=SHPSIMMF&ZYXSEM=0 ) seems like a really good, affordable beginner's bass guitar that's worth the money. From one or two online reviews, I've read that the neck is on the thick side and a bit tough for some people with small hands to play. I'm wondering though, to those of you who own this bass, would the neck be too thick for me to play since I have small hands? My middle finger is 7 cm long, my pinky is 5 cm long, and my hand, from the very top of my wrist to the tip of my middle finger, is 17 cm long. I'd really appreciate any help and opinions from people who own this bass on whether or not it would be okay for me to play; like, would I be able to play this bass without problems with reaching the top string at the wider end of the neck and so on. Thanks in advance for your time and help! Have a great day. =) moreResolved Question: Is it worth it buying a violin?
Okay so I've always wanted to play the violin, but they say it's way too hard. I can play the guitar, well I'm not that a bad guitarist and I've been playing it for almost two and a half years. I have a good sense of pitch, I mean when I hear a song, I can hear the bass as being a separate component of the piece. I can play songs without even looking for the chords online. But I know that the physics of a guitar and a fiddle are totally different. And besides I do not have time to hire a professional to teach me but I would be willing to learn by myself and dedicate some hours to it a day. Would it be tough? What do you think? I'm planning the buy a violin tomorrow, the one that I can afford. I'm seventeen. moreResolved Question: How to play bass guitar?

I used to play bass when I was younger, but I'm a real beginner. I want to learn how to read music and really learn how to play the bass. Any suggestions for online tutorials or should I just find a real instructor locally? moreResolved Question: Where Can I Find Good Online Guitar Lessons?
Okay I've been teaching myself how to play guitar and bass for a little over half a year. There aren't any teachers anywhere near where I live. The closest would be probably over an hour away. And paying for lessons and gas would just be too much. I need to find a good course online to learn the correct way. I would like something that you get workbooks, videos, dvd/cd/downloadable lessons. Something thats more than just youtube style learning in other words not just watching a video, but I actually have a book to work with. I've looked around found one Guitar College, but I'm not too sure about it. If someone could please recommend some other websites that would be fantastic. To sum it up I would like videos with a teacher and also a workbook of some sort to play along with, a visual. I'm not good with just buying a "how to play guitar" books either I get more off of youtube than those books. Sorry for the long explanation... :/ Thanks for any suggestions! :D moreResolved Question: What kind of person do you call this?

One of the new things I want to do for 2009 is learn how to play bass. I know the best thing to do is to look for a 'starter kit', but I don't know if I should order one online or try to find a music store. I've heard that the kit comes with everything: strings, cover bag, strap, practice amp and cords and even some free lessons on DVD with some kits. But how do you know what's best? And should you be looking for a certain kind of bass if you are left or right-handed? And when will you know it's time to move up from the "cheaper" bass to a more professional one? moreResolved Question: Learning to Play the Cello...?
OK, so I want to learn how to play Cello. I'm 21 years old. I've done a little research online for what to buy, how to buy etc etc. I am 6' 5" and I play Acoustic/Electric bass. I have been for 5 years, I also play guitar too. I know Cello is completely different but do you think it will help me, and I am a self learner. I like to learn things by myself, I don't like going to teachers or instructors. But my question is could I learn to play Cello without going to an Instructor? And I can not read Sheet Music, do I have any chance at all at learning to play this instrument? I love this instrument a lot. My favorite piece of music is Johann Sebastian Bach's Cello Suite no. 1 BWV 1007 in G major. I would love more than anything to learn how to play that on Cello. SO any help? moreResolved Question: Buying a bass guitar?
I want to learn how to play bass guitar. I've been playing an acoustic Ovation Celebrity guitar for a little under a year now, but I've always been drawn to bass guitar. The problem is, is that I want to buy a bass guitar that will last me a while, instead of buying a cheap one and then figuring it all out and buying a better one a couple months later. Some people say buy an Ibanez, but others say get a Squier bass; everyone has their own opinion. I've been researching for a while online, but still have questions. Here we go. 1. What's the difference between a "Squier by Fender Affinity Series P Bass" and "Squier by Fender Affinity Series J Bass"? 2. Should I consider buying used? eBay? 3. Amps. I have a Fender 15G for my Ovation, but I'm going to need another amp for my bass guitar. Any recommendations? Do I really need an amp right away for practice? 4. Everyone says to walk into a shop and try them out/see how they feel, but how are you supposed to do that if you don't know how to play yet? I always feel intimidated by the Guitar Center nearby, are there any questions I could ask them when trying out basses? I know I should just suck it up and try them out, but... >_< *sigh* Basically, I just need a whole lot of help. Any tips or helpful hints or anything would be appreciated at this point. Thank you in advance. ^_^ moreResolved Question: Where to learn bass and guitar online?

Or should I just bucket down and learn to play off of and read the sheet music first? moreVoting Question: Where might I find a stereo/cd player with adjustable bass, treble, and whatever the other ones are?

One of these instruments included a bass guitar and there was a picture of a guitar that looked exactly like mine. then i saw another picture and it said "Accoustic guitar" underneath it. My band has to learn Beat Your Heart Out by the Distillers for a school band night this tuesday, and we don't have much rehearsal time, if any. eep. We also don't have a bassist, so was just wondering if anybody knows off any drum backing tracks for that song, online, so i can play along to it and see how it sounds with just guitar and drums, and no bass. i've had a look on google but no luck. If not, do you reckon it'll still sound ok without a bassist? we've never played a gig without one, so not sure how well it'll go down. oh well.... thanks moreTop Learn To Play Bass Guitar Online Links
