Learn To Play The Electric Guitar For Free Questions asked

Resolved Question: What are some really good, but easy, country songs to learn to play on guitar?

Acoustic is awesome, I'd like to focus on that. But electric is great too, I have both. What are some good country songs that I could learn to play. Thank you. P.S. Best Answer automatically goes to anyone who can find a Remember When by Alan Jackson tutorial that is free, very easy to follow and has the fingerings for it either on the screen or the page. Thank you. more

Resolved Question: good and easy way to learn how to play electric guitar by yourself?

I have plenty of free time so I'd like to use some of it doing something productive. I have an electric guitar I bought a years ago. It's nothing special of course but I barely even touched it because I don't know how to play it. If I learn how to play well I will buy a better one. But right now this one is fine since I know nothing about guitars. What's a good way and easy way to learn how to play by yourself? I heard some people have learned how to play well by reading tabs. Any tips and advice? more

Resolved Question: i want a GUITAR! where do i get one for free?

Resolved Question: A musical dilemma that is getting really annoying?

Okay guyss, Well I play quite a few instruments and I have for years. Im primarily a guitar player, both Acoustic and Electric. People tell me im a very talented player. But they always ask me to sing. Thats where the problem begins. I cant sing. At all. But im also broke and cant get a job at the moment, due to epilepsy. So how can I learn to sing, but if possible for free :/ Its something I really want to learn to do. Any advice would be amazing. more

Resolved Question: Do pianos really have no soul?

Sorry if I offend anyone but I personally think piano is one of the most souless instruments out there. There is so little contact between the person and the intrument. I just dislike the sound of the instrument. You can't vibrato the notes. You can't bend the notes. These really gives a piece of music much more emotion in my opinion. You can't use harmonics either. I know some very talented people out there. One girl I know is an excellent pianist. She said that she hated the sound of the instrument. She wants to start playing guitar instead. Two other people I know said the same thing. Some might say that electric guitars have no soul because it uses technology and machines. However, don't pianos use technology too? Electric guitars can do many things that pianos can't do. I can only think of two things that pianos can do that guitars (electric or acoustic) can't do. Pianos can play chords and melody at the same time, and Pianos have a wider range of notes they can play. So is it just me, or do pianos have no soul? Hey, if you are offended, feel free to recommend some piano music to me. Also, feel free to argue. I really want to learn to appreciate piano music.Wow thats a pretty nice sounding solo. I really like Keith Moon's solos. They are amazing. That's a really ingenius interpretation of Stairway to Heaven. I've actually seen that video before. I never favorited it, but now I will. I'll favorite the drum solo too more

Voting Question: Drum and bass play-alongs?

I've been playing guitar for 6 few years and techincally I'm quite allright... the problem is all my playing entirely comes down to the find-the-guitar-pro-file-and-learn-it-by-heart style. I'm therefore slowly diving into the sea of improvisation. ;) Anyway, what I wanted to ask is where to find good free drum and bass backings I could improvise to... I did some googling but couldn't find anything that meets the following criteria (which might be because I don't speak English perfectly... so I might not know the appropriate vocabulary?): 1) it should be free 2) it should be bass + drums, preferably calm. You know, warm bass and calm percussion, just something to provide a nice background for clean or slightly distorted electric guitar. 3) it should be mp3 (with all due respect to midi-lovers out there... I prefer "real" instruments) do you think it is possible to find such tracks in the internet? more

Voting Question: Something I can buy my gf to show I love her with a small budget?

I have a very small budget of $30. She likes anime, art (she loves to draw/paint), she likes music and to play music (she can play the piano... she has a keyboard/electric piano/whatever you would call it and is learning to play the acoustic guitar.) Some things I have currently thought of: A Webcam. Though this would mostly be a gift to me, so we can talk face to face (kinda) late at night or when we cant be together. Or so she can use it for whatever, like to record videos of her playing or to take pics of her drawings to post on the internet. A month of free unlimited texting. She has a "pay as you go" phone and currently cannot text because her parents wont give her the money..or something like that... I would like to get her something better than those two things. But I'm having a hard time thinking and I could use all the ideas I can get. I'm not saying I'll use any of your ideas, but they'll probably inspire as to what I should get her. So, please give me some ideas as to a good gift for her that will show I care and is concious of my little budget. Thank you. more

Resolved Question: Is learning guitar worth it?

My life has been kind of repetitive lately, and I'm looking for something to occupy my free time. I'm 16 and go to school, work, and hang out with my girlfriend. Nothing really else I do. I was thinking maybe trying an electric guitar since its a bit smaller in a sense, and I've read its a bit easier for beginning, but but acoustic and electric have pros and cons. Anyways my questions I guess. One, is learning guitar worth it? Two, would I be able to get started just by going off lessons in books and the internet? Three,(I know this one is kind of...obvious? lol) Anyways, if I keep up with playing guitar, practicing every day some and such, how long might it take where I could actually play recognizable songs. Ha ha. Thanks again! more

Resolved Question: Guitarist looking to learn the Mandolin. What are the main differences?

Hello, I've been playing guitar for about a year and a half, and I love it! The only problem I have is I can't lug around my big electric guitar everywhere to play when I have some free time on the road or at my Grandma's house or whatever. I recently took interest in Mandolins and admire their small stature and bright sound. I figure bringing a Mandolin along with me places wouldn't be as much of a hassle and it wouldn't weigh me down to much if I wore it with a strap. My concern is, my main musical interest lies in Beatles tunes, and Mandolin tab is really hard to find online. Can guitar tab somehow be transferred to Mandolin, or would I have to come up with all new tab? Is the Mandolin very different from the guitar? And lastly, is it worth it for me to buy a Mandolin? Thanks in advance! more

Resolved Question: I don't know what to get for my first electric guitar? Currently Checking out Ibanez bundles.?

I am looking to buy myself a new guitar, as my current guitar is a 3/4 sized acoustic with nylon strings, which makes it incredibly difficult for me to use. I have been talking with some friends of mine and they advise getting a Ibanez, they say they are good for me as i wish to play rock and metal music, (System of a Down, Metallica, Avenged Sevenfold, and maybe a little Led Zeppelin on the side) Now i have been checking out some bundles from Ibanez: http://www.ibanez.co.jp/eu/products/jumpstart/GRX70DXJ.html costs around £190-£200 and http://www.ibanez.co.jp/eu/products/jumpstart/GSA6J.html costs around £230-£240 I'd like to know if these would be any good to learn on, and if anyone has had any experiences with them? Also if anyone knew of a guitar and/or bundle that would be better in their view, please say as i am fairly clueless. And please remember that im paying this out of my own pocket so i am looking into the region of under £250 Thank you for your time and i look forward to getting a reply, thanks in advance :) Also, if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask more

Voting Question: Best DVD/E-Course for Guitar Lessons? Electric Guitar Prices?

There are no stores that sell guitar lessons in my area (closest is about a 3 hour drive) and I really want to play guitar so my best option is either those DVD packs or one of the e-courses ive been hearing about. Whether its free or expensive, I want to know a couple of really good dvd's/e-courses for guitar lessons. So far i've found: http://books-videos-music.musiciansfriend.com/product/Rock-House-Learn-Rock-Guitar-Beginner-Intermediate-Advanced-Package?sku=942719 ($40) http://www.learnandmaster.com/guitar/ ($150 - looks the best) http://www.guitarmasterpro.net/ ($30) http://www.justinguitar.com/ ($free) If there's any better ones, or a preferred one that I should use from above, let me know. Second thing I want to know is the average price around electric guitars and I guess amps. Im not 100% sure im going to be serious about it so I really dont want to buy a really expensive one. Is there an approximate range in guitar prices that anyone can give me? Thanks. more

Resolved Question: What instrument should I learn how to play?

I've been playing the alto saxophone since September 2007 and I'm an advanced player (I'm not just saying that to be cocky. My school's band and everyone in it is super advanced for only playing this short amount of time.) Since I absolutely love music, I want to learn more than just one instrument. Which one should I play? I was thinking either drums, piano, or guitar since all three are challenging (well all instruments are challenging...) and I love a challenge. Drums has always been appealing to me ever since I was eight or nine years old. I've played my school's drum set a few weeks ago and I was mocking the stuff our drummer in jazz band plays and I can actually play it. I love the sound of the drums (it's the heartbeat of all music)! I do have a question though...do drummers read music or do they just play what sounds right with the other music that is being played? Piano is just a pretty instrument that seems like a lot of fun to play. I also already know most of the notes on it from messing around with the one in my band room. Guitar (both electric and acoustic) just looks amazingly fun to play. I love the sound and the vibe of it! I'm just not sure if I have enough coordination to play the guitar or not. Which one should I learn to play? I'm not asking for the easiest one to play, just your opinion on which one sounds better for me. If you have any other instrument suggestions, feel free to say! more

I'm getting an electric guitar in about a month. I've done my research and know exactly which one I'm going to purchase. Do you think it is beneficial to learn how to read music before getting a guitar in my hands? It seems like learning to read music first will reduce some of the frustration when I'm trying to learn the fingering of the guitar. I will mainly be playing classic rock, because that is my favorite type of music. Also, what can I do to keep myself motivated to practice at least 30 minutes every day? I will probably not take lessons, because I like to learn independently. Feel free to say anything that you want me to know about learning guitar =) Thanks.I'm most likely not going to take lessons. I want the guitar because i want to learn how to play. Ive already got everything i would need picked out and stuff i just don't know f i want it more than the eReader. Resolved Question: how about this interesting fact i must thank alan for this ok not my normal stuff but hey jokers we all learn?

Interesting! A refresher course--who knew? I had a neighbor who had bought a new pickup. I got up very early one Sunday morning and saw that someone had spray painted red all around the sides of this beige truck (for some unknown reason). I went over, woke him up, and told him the bad news. He was very upset and was trying to figure out what to do. Another neighbor came out and told him to get his WD-40 and clean it off. It removed the unwanted paint beautifully and did not harm his paint job that was on the truck. I'm mpressed! WD-40 who knew? Water Displacement #40. The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and degreaser to protect missile parts. WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company. Its name comes from the project that was to find a water displacement' compound. They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40.
