Resolved Question: Advice on a friends 19 month old...problems?

We have some very good friends and I need some advice on how to go forward with them. We have a 23 month old girl and they have a 19 month old girl. I come from a very large family so I know that babies all progress at different levels but I can't help feeling concerned about this child. Her parents don't believe in medicine unless you have an emergency (like a heart attack or something) and so go to a local naturalist (unqualified). Their little girl only weighs 19 lbs and is in the below 5 percentile....she was small when she was born, but in the 10th percentile and has steadily dropped. She is also in the 10th percentile for height, although this has remained constant. Her mom is 5.9 and her dad 5.11, both from a large boned family. She won't eat, and so just lives on half a banana and milk and often has white poop. Physically she seems fine although very small and frail, but she learned to say woof woof at about a year...and that is still the only word she can say. She can be prompted to do 'tickles' and laugh but mostly she just stands staring into the distance and doesn't react to her name, her parents leaving or coming back (and they are very loving to her, even if I don't agree with some of their choices!). Nothing holds her attention and she will often just wander around and then stand for a few minutes with a blank expression. They won't have her shots done, or take her to a doctor as this naturalist and their duella (also no qualifications) have said that the little girl is fine. I know I can't compare her to my little girl who is a great eater and sleeper and who runs around like a banshee chattering all the time, but I can't shake the feeling that something is very wrong. They are very prickly about their choices so I try and let them know that although we differ I do respect them. I have tried to offer advice from our pediatrician and start conversations about development, but they say that they don't believe the charts and so don't look at them. So - am I being silly or do you think that something may be the matter...if so, any advice on how to approach it? more

Most memorable Brit performance of the last 30 years? Spice Girls? Is it boll*cks! The KLF were at the top of their game, top of the charts and winning a Brit Award and DELIBERATELY decided to perform an indecipherable thrash metal version of 'What Time Is Love' with the band Extreme Noise Terror just to piss off the organisers of the Brit Awards. They fired blanks from a machine gun into the crowd at the end of the performance (they'd be arrested nowadays for that!) and left a dead sheep at the entrance to the after party with a sign on saying "I died for Ewe". They finished the performance with the words: "Ladies and gentlemen, KLF have now left the music business" And that was it! They stopped making music, deleted their entire back catalogue then burnt the 1 million pounds that they had earned under the name KLF. Insane, maybe, genius, certainly. Voting Question: Can anyone help me with a strange pain in my chest with referred pain in my jaw?

I first started getting a pain in the centre of my chest around 11-12 years ago. At the time I spoke to a local doctor here in the UK who asked me to chart my food intake for a week to see if something was triggering the pain. Unfortunately, they drew a blank. The pain presents itself at any time of the day or night, whether I am lying down, sitting up or moving around. There does not seem to be any pattern to it. The only way I can describe the pain is it is like someone has placed a uninflated balloon inside my chest and is blowing it up beyond the capacity of my torso. These episodes can last a couple of minutes or sometimes they can last 30-40 minutes or more. I also seem to get a pain in my right lower jaw whenever I get the chest pain. Only ever my right lower jaw too. I did go through a spell of about 6 or 7 years of not experiencing this pain and only recently have started feeling the pain again on a regular basis. By this I mean every day, sometimes several times a day. It's probably important to note that I have Myasthenia gravis. Though I started getting this pain in 1997/1998 and I did not get any symptoms of MG until 2002. I had thought my thymus gland may have been responsible (location of pain in the same area) but had a thymectomy in 2003 and still getting the pain. It is also worth noting that I am currently 31 weeks pregnant with my second child and I do not remember getting this pain as frequently or at all with my first pregnancy. I know I should go and see a doctor but would really like some advice about what it might be given that previous doctors have drawn a blank. Thanking you in advance. more

My son is 2 years 9 months old, and for the past 9 months we've been attempting to potty train him. He now grasps the concept, knows when he going, what to do etc, and yet he just doesn't!! We remind him, encourage, have tried sticker charts,rewards etc everything under the sun and yet he just prefers to use a nappy! We put him in pants but he still goes in them too!7 He has a younger brother who is 21 months, and he is doing better than him! okay so I was doing some homework about the unknown 9 elements of Mendeleev but it doesn't make sense. On the chart I have the known elements of Be, i guessed unknown 3 as magnesium since the properties fit with it, then I have Ca, No Sr, and Ba I don't use Ra since I don't use radiactive elements. So five elements should fit but for some reason the table given to me contained blanks and only said 4 go there, same with row 13 says 4 go there although 5 fit, and row 11, 3 fit but there's only room for 2, I don't understand? Voting Question: How to remove zeros on a bar chart in Excel 2007?

Hi, I'm trying to chart 5 different products' sales over the course of the last 12 months in a bar chart, however some of the products didn't begin selling at the start of the year (one in feb, another in july), so when I insert a zero value or leave the cells blank for the months where no sales were recorded it still creates an area for the corresponding month without a bar. Is there any way of removing these blank sections, as it would make the chart look neater? I hope I've explained myself clearly enough and thanks for your help in advance.I've tried going into each product and editing the series values, but where one is supposed to start in june when i highlight only the values and not the blanks, the values begin in january instead... :( more

okay so my teacher shows me a chart and one side there is a side length of an equilateral triangle. ther chart goes down 1,2,3,4,5. on the other side of the chart there is the perimeter units of an equilateral triangle which goes down 3,6,9,12,15. Resolved Question: What type of riddle is this?

There are these riddles that I remember doing. They would give you statements and then a blank chart. For instance, one of them was to figure out who played what in a pageant and what grade level they were in. For instance, they would say that "Karen, who was a grade ahead of Joe, played a fairy" or "only one male second grader played a prince". Once you figured out who played what, you would put an "X" in the box that stated the role and another "X" in the box that stated the grade level. I am doing my grammar homework and I wanted some help. The directions for this exercise says, "Number your paper 1-20. After the proper number, write either the past or past participle of the verb given at the beginning of each sentence, whichever will fill correctly the blank in the sentence." Before that, it gives the infinitive of some words, the past, and the past participle. One of the questions says, 2. swim I could not have ----- another foot. According to the chart, it should be: I could not have swum another foot. That doesn't sound right, but I am probably wrong. Can someone clarify please? My 14 yr old daughter is making our home like a war zone, she totally ignores anything she is asked to do. She has been kicked out of school and refuses any help from me to try and discover what is making her like this. I have tried getting her to doctors but she point blank refuses infact she refuses to do practetly everything i ask her to do, short of dragging her to doctors by her hair, which im sure would be frowned upon by the doctor anyway i do not know where to turn. last week in class our teacher reviewed what was going to be on our test. she specifically said that she was going to organize a part (worth a large portion of the test) of the test in a Fashion that most of the numbers in a accounting statement were going to be fill in the blank and she would take care of the labels on the side. she told us to study what numbers go where and why they go there and to not worry about the labels because she will have them. when i took the test today there was a problem and a empty space with the instructions to prepare a chart with the given numbers. and because me and two of my classmates focused on studying what numbers going where and why, while using notes as reference for the labels because we thought that information would be provided, we bombed the test. needless to say were pretty upset because we studied pretty hard this weekend. what can we do about this? can we report this? what can we tell/ask the teacher? generally what should we do.we didnt review all the material? we studied all of the things she told us to. would you memorize a complicated formula for a math test if the teacher told you that she would provide it. wouldnt you just memorize how to use it and why it works? more

Here are my results: In the known substance, Pb Hg and Ag were all present according to the tests. In the unknown substance, only Ag was present according to the tests. I really need some help with this flow diagram (the last page that says Experiment 36). One question I have is how do I know what the solution contains? For example, the first part that is filled out for me says "Solution contains ions in Groups II and III" but how do I know that? And how do I know what to put in the other "solution contains" blanks? Resolved Question: What can I do to be more helpful to my friend with triplets?

Just over a week ago, one of my dearest friends gave birth to triplets. Her parents and in-laws will be here until the 1st of December, then I am taking them to the airport, so that they can fly home. So far I have helped her parents and in-laws cook meals to be stored for later use, picked up the specialty formula at the pharmacy, and picked up groceries once. Today I made up a feeding and diaper chart, to help her keep track of how much each baby is drinking, pooing, and having wet diapers. I made up different binders for each baby. I know she has been meaning to do that, but I did it for her. I made extra, blank pages for her to print up at home. Plus, I've also been taking pictures of the babies with my digital camera, editing them, and then sending them to my friend and emailing them to her husband, who is deployed to Iraq for the next 12-18 months. I also took her dad with me to the exchange so that he could buy her a new digital camera, and a new digital camcorder. I don't feel like I'm doing enough for her. I want to give her all of the unconditional love, and support that she has shown me over the years. I'm there when she needs to talk (especially about her over-bearing mother and mother in law). So my question is: What can I do to be more helpful to my friend with triplets. Please no rude answers. Thank you.Well I do need to add that she's a NICU Nurse Practitioner, so medically speaking the babies are well taken care of. She is 100% schedule oriented, so the babies will be on a strict feeding/sleeping schedule. Plus she's hired someone to come in and deep clean the house once a week, and she's hired a personal chef to come in once a week to cook for her for the next 6 months. So those two things are taken care of. I don't mind doing laundry or dishes. We have to fill out one of those "Alien Element" charts for school (Basically it's a period all blank, with clues on the bottom for each element missing. All elements have made-up names.)
