Open Question: Insurance prices for young driver on Mercedes cars?

What would insurance run monthly for a 19 year old with a very good driving record on a 2005 Mercedes S430 4-Matic, that is kept in very safe neighborhood in the US? What about a 2005 Mercedes CLK55 AMG, or a 2008 Mercedes C350, or a 2004 BMW 745li? If you could give me an average quote on those cars, it would be great, thanks. more

Open Question: How jacked up is this? Does anybody else hate this?

Check it out I'm from a kind of small city (pop. 150,000 – 200,000) Laredo, TX to be exact. It’s a border city to Mexico so we have mostly Hispanic population I thinks its 95% Hispanic I’m Hispanic too. So this is what I hate people that jump on bandwagons. I have a brother-in-law that is 11 years old and last year and his whole life he’s been a Cowboys fan because almost everyone in Laredo is a Cowboys fan. During the early season of football I never heard him mention the Vikings or Brett Favre, then like in week 10 when the Vikings are undefeated he’s all over Favre’s and the Vikings nuts. He even made his parents get him a Favre jersey. So one day where cooking out and we are making fun of him because he jumped on the Vikings bandwagon. Then he comes back and insults my team and no one is aloud to do that, even though my team is the Tampa Bay Bucs. So I ask him casually, “Hey did you like the Jets last year?” he replies, “no why would I like the jets they suck!” then I say yes but Favre was with the Jets. Then I was like name three players on the Vikings and he goes, “Brett Favre. A.P. and ummm…” exactly my point. So, anyways last week the Vikings spanked the Cowboys, right? And I have nothing against the Vikings there a damn good football team right now I’m just not going to jump on that boat. So my and some friends are sitting outside drinking beers as everyone contemplates committing suicide because their beloved Cowboys lost. When out of nowhere a car drives by and the driver yells out, “ARRIBA Los Vikings!” and I was like what the hell was that? When in the world would you expect a Mexican to yell out a cheer in Spanish for the Vikings? What the hell do Mexicans and Vikings have in common? Do you guys hate this as much as me or are you guys the ones that leave your teams to jump on a bandwagon? And who are you rooting for to make it to the Super Bowl? Best answer gets 10 points! more

Open Question: Laws for Designated Drivers?

Hey all, I'm DDing tonight for my boyfriend and some of our other friends. There are five of them in all that are going to a party at another friend's house. I am the sixth person and I am the only one that will stay sober all night long, and so I am DDing for them because I don't drink at all. All of us are under 21 (they're 18, 19, 19, 20, and 20) and I am 18. I have my full driver's license and I have current registration and insurance on my truck. However, my truck only has four seats and so we can't take it, so we took one of the girl's cars, which is a Chevrolet Cobalt. It's still small and can only has enough seatbelts for five. Would I break a law if I drove for them? What (if any) trouble could happen if I'm driving and there are five underage people who are drunk and one of them doesn't have a seatbelt? Could there be any extra "penalty" because I am underage as well? This is in Michigan, btw. more

Open Question: Accident in a WalMart parking lot and the other party's insurance denied my claim... any advice?

Hi everyone, I would appreciate your ideas regarding the following situation: My son had a car accident last week in a nearby WalMart parking lot (Dallas, Paulding County, GA). He was driving down a parking lane and hit a car which came out of nowhere cutting across the aisle. Both vehicles had extensive damage (front of the vehicle on our car, and driver side on the other car). There was a gentleman who saw everything and called 911. The sheriff's deputy arrived at the scene promptly. He explained there would be an accident report, but since this happened in a private parking lot, he was not in a position to state who was at fault. I got the report the other day and it states the facts about the accident and gives the contact information for the witness. I have spoken with the other driver's insurance company three times and I just found out that their claims rep has determined that my son was at fault, so they have denied my claim. The claim with them was actually originally filed by the other driver. I politely asked to speak with a supervisor and was advised that I should expect to receive a call from a supervisor soon. I did not get a chance to talk to my insurance rep after I found out the other insurance denied the claim, but I am not sure if there is anything my insurance can do for us, especially given the fact that we only have liablity coverage on this vehicle (no collision coverage either). I think it is really outrageous how they could claim my son was at fault, if all evidence points to the fact that their insured was driving across the parking lanes and obviously did not see our car. I cannot find anything online (like traffic regulations) that explicitly says that the driver cutting across the parking lanes is at fault if there is a collision, but I think it is common sense that this should be the responsible party! If anyone has had a similar experience, or has any suggestions, your help will be very much appreciated!Bobby, do you know of a website where I can get something in writing that the driver going across the parking row is at fault? My insurance has asked for the WalMart video recording, but you are right - it wouldn't hurt if I try to get a copy of it too. Thanks so much!mysticmoonprincess01, Thanks a lot for the detailed info! It all sounds real discouraging, though... BUT - I will try to fight it with their insurance co., because it would cost at least $2K to get the car fixed and it's just not right that I would have to pay that! I think if I let go now, that would mean that I am accepting their "verdict"... more

Open Question: What is the best location to take your Road Test in Brooklyn or NYS in general?

I am 33 years old. I learned to drive in my mid twenties (dont ask what I was doing in my teens to not have been motivated to get my license as most teens. IDK). I failed 2 maybe 3 times. And I am here to say its not always the drivers (person taking test) fault. The BROOKLYN DMV examiners are a** holes (known fact). With the exception of two of the examiners, I have later learned. The thing that sucks about taking a Road test in Brooklyn NY (compared to other states & even upstate NY) is that Parallell Parking is a MUST, the 3 point turn, Uturn, right & left turns, all have to be done. Obeying the rules of the road...of course--it all counts. My friends father taught me to drive years ago (he was very impatient & rude. I remember being in tears during his driving lessons. But what he taught me stuck with me until this day. Its like riding a bike, once you learn you dont forget. May be a little rusty at first if some time passes, but you pick it up easily if you have already been taught ) . I would go on to take professional driving lessons afterwards with an Auto School, 5 hour class (I took that 5 hr class like 2 or 3 times. because one time I didnt know the certificate expired after a year). & After 3 or 4 lessons my driving teacher would always say "you are ready. No more lessons! You are good". Id spend the money for the lessons & the road test, using the Auto schools car each time & end up failing the exam. What sucks is that if you fail, you basically lost your money. (I work hard for my pennies. LOL! when you lose almost 100 bucks within a road exam thats no longer than 5 minutes 15 minutes tops...it sucks) because you dont get half back or any at all. You lose every cent. I honeslty dont even remember the main reasons the examiner failed me the last 2 times. I cant even recall if I took it twice & failed or 3 times and failed because I get so upset over losing my $90 plus dollars, I just forget everything (as far as reason I failed, & what the examiner looked like, which site, etc). I even began thinking my age had something to do with it (like the older you are the stricter they are on you during the test. Like the older you are, the better you should be at driving, no roome for any mistakes, or something) because I find that my younger friends- late teens early to mid 20's get their liscense on first or second try. Not me. Time passes, & I got that craving to drive, once again. I am thinking, "I have to get this license. I took the written test twice which means 5 years went by & my permit expired. Then I took written test again (not difficult to me at all, I know the rules of the road without even reading the manual. Like common sense to me--but I still dont want to pay to take it again--so I have to get my license before September 2010), I think I took it once within these past 5 years. The first time I got my permit I took the road test twice. Im a teacher (Day Care---we dont make money like B.O.E teachers--LOL). But one time my students parent said she got her license, I said "wow congratulations. I took the test 2 times & till didnt get it." Another parent of mines said, "where are you taking it at"? I said, "In Brooklyn". He said, "thats why! you need to take it UpState NY or in Queens NY even, its really easy". The last time I took it I think the wait to take it in Queens was too long, so I just took it again in Brooklyn being confident.....& still FAILED. I do remember almost crying at the end of my first Road test & wanting to slap that lady Examiner. I remember wanting to punch the man examiner in the face the second time at the end of the road test. another lady was with me to take hers also & he ended up failing us both. The third time is either blacked out of my brain by me choosing not to remember or it never happened in the first place. LOL. But this year I am setting aside $500 dollars strictly for any fees I may have to pay the DMV, in order to take the Road test another 2 or 3 times (hopefully not), also I have to get an address change on my permit, lessons & the Road Test. I dont think I will exceed my $500 dollar cap. But Im prepared to take the RT two times back to back if I have to, this time around, I am making sure "money" doesnt play an issue as it has in the past. If I could have paid for a few more lessons to brush up on what the examiner told me I messed up on, then put up the money to take it again following the additional lessons, I am sure I would have gotten my license by now. But money doesn't come easy. I have 2 children, that will benefit from me knowing how to drive. But Dang...The examiners seemed like they was giving away licenses until I came along at the time. This time will be different. My frame of mind is totally different from when I was in my late 20's. Red Hook, Starett City & Sheaps Head Bay, are the 3 Brooklyn test locations. So what do you guys think? Where should I take my Road test this year. My coworker has told me to take it in St more

Open Question: How do I get a Nevada driver's license with a car that's registered to someone else who lives out of state?

I moved to Las Vegas about seven months ago. I live here, I work here, I go to school here. I pay rent, utilites, list my home as my new permanent address, all that good stuff. I plan on living here for quite a few years. The problem is, my car is actually registered to and belongs to my mother. She purchased it for me to drive, but her name is on the title and registration. I do not make enough income to be put on as a secondary on the title/registration, seeing as she's still paying off the car. She has another two years before the car will be paid off, at which time she's going to transfer it to me. So, because of this, does this mean there is no way for me to get a driver's license? There have to be other people out here who live out here, but drive someone else's cars. Teenagers and the like perhaps? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, as DMV's website is very confusing. more

Open Question: Replacing the starter in a 1985 300sd?

Mercedes Benz 300SD starter r&r questions? The car died. It would glow, but turn the switch to start and nothing - no noise or anything. The tow truck driver came out and after a jump didn't fix it, he pounded on something under the hood from the top. It worked. The car started with no problem. He said, and a mechanic agreed, that it needed a new starter. The mechanic said it was a tough job, as there was something that had to be removed to get at the starter. (He wanted 2-3 hrs labor) I looked at it from the top and if I'm looking at the starter, it doesn't look too hard. 1. What did the tow truck driver pound on? 2. Is the starter unobstructed and easy (well relatively) to remove and replace? more

Open Question: After I was at a busted party, I have never gotten over it?

I am 18, a senior in high school, accepted to all of my six applied-to schools, and overall a good student. Over the summer, I started doing, what I believe to be, normal teenage experimentation. I had two parties at my own house at which I drank for the first time, and went to two parties, one at which I drank and at the other of which I smoked marijuana. I also went to one outdoor concert but I didn't drink, but my friends did. Each time I do these things, I make sure I have my own cup the whole time, and do not take drinks from people I don't know. I never get in the car drunk or with anyone who has been drinking. When the school year started, I started going out, too. Probably one to two times a month I drank, either at a house party or with a few girlfriends playing drinking card games at a sleepover. I kept up my grades an everything. Twice I drank too much and got sick, but I believe it to be a learning experience. NOT every time I went to a party would I drink, sometimes I was designated driver. I went to a party in November at which all of my friends were there as well as the majority of my grade and the grade below mine. About an hour into it, in a split second, everybody was screaming and jumping out of windows, and I remember vividly my one friend urging us to "get out, get out, the cops are here!" I, with 15 other kids out of the upwards of 50 kids there, did not get away. We sat in the living room while the cops questioned us and had each of our parents come pick us up. We got tickets, which I paid off. We got off easy. We did not get charged for underage drinking, but for "creating a public distubrance". The school, and colleges, did not find out. My parents handled it fairly well and I was punished. I have learned m y lessson in that I do not go out and drink at parties anymore - but I have drank at sleepovers with three to four other girls since. The thing that is concerning me is the pure FEAR I still have inside of me. I honestly describe it as a traumatic experience; it was like a natural disaster, the way people reacted to the cops busting it. In a split second, there was pure silence, then just CHAOS and screaming and glass breaking from people breaking windows to get out. the look on people's faces was just sheer terror, and I honestly relive that every night. I feel like this is a huge overreaction on my part yet I can't shake this. I can remember that night as thougt it were a horrific event. What's up with me? more

Open Question: How can I report a fraudulent auto insurance claim to USAA insurance company?

I know of a USAA insurance client who has filed a fraudulent claim on their insurance. In fact two of them in a two month time span, the first claim they lied about who was the driver of the vehicle at time of accident (real driver had a suspended license) The second one they lied to the adjuster by not revealing their license was suspended, they lied about the circumstances ( they didn't reveal they didn't call police because they were under the influence) they did admit to rear ending the other vehicle but also lied about the exact circumstances and parties involved. And they still haven't filed a police report or accident report to the DMV when required by Texas law when car is undrivable from scene and over $1,000. in damages, the damages to both vehicles exceeded $15,000.00. I can't figure out why USAA didn't investigate. The driver of the other vehicle had a complete different story than the client who was at fault, such as the at fault driver begged them not to call police or report it because they were high and holding illegal drugs, since the driver had baby with her she plead the other girls sympathy that she would go to jail and have her baby taken to CPS. The girl agreed out of sympathy .I am not looking for an insurance quote. I am asking how do I contact USAA and report this person for making fraudulent claims..... more

Open Question: Need some help with a few Physics questions about force?

You are a crime scene investigator arriving at an automobile accident in a school zone. The scene contains vehicle skid marks that measure 25.0 meters long. Use your knowledge of physics to determine and report the estimated initial speed of the vehicle involved (in m/s) to the court official, so they will have the crucial evidence to charge the driver for speeding above the 20 mph limit (~ 12 m/s). Assume a deceleration rate of 11.0 m/s2 for dry pavement. (I do not even know what formula to use to this problem.) Frictional forces from brake pads are responsible for stopping an automobile. A car is moving at 35.0 m/s. If the car's brakes are capable of generating a deceleration rate of 6.00 m/s2, then how many meters will this vehicle move before coming to a stop? Name the forces, their directions, and the distances involved in the following problem. Do not solve it mathematically. A car is traveling 10 m/s when the driver sees a dog in the road. The driver takes 0.7 s to react, then steps on the brakes and slows down at 3.0 m/s2. How far does the car go before it stops? Thank you so much :D:DThe third and forth paragraphs are one question. more

Open Question: Shifting the car into neutral or turning it off going down hill?

Hello, I would like answers / opinions from MANUAL car drivers only for this if possible, I believe it is different for Auto drivers. I have 2 seperate questions 1. I was wandering if shifting into neutral while going down the hill will give the engine a break, and possible improve MPG rates? It seems there is less stress on the engine, therefore the engine has to do less work and therefore will wear less. My theory is also it will most likely save a small amount of fuel perhaps, or is fuel only injected when accelerating? 2. My second question is: Is it ever financially viable to turn your car off while going down a hill? I realise this is extreme and there are safety implications. Would it damage the car? Also would it actually save any money, or will re igniting the car lose any gains? Question 1 is the main one, Question 2 is out of interest if anyone knows. Cheers JackEDIT: Cheers for the current answers guys. Yeah I'm totally ruling out turning the car off, a bit of a silly thing to ask. As for neutral, I'm talking about when wanting to still gain speed, or on small declines for short periods of time really, e.g. 10 seconds. Thanks for the answers. Neutral is fine then for short distances etc, where heavy braking isn't neccessary. I realise you lose more control of the car. I'm in the UK, its not illegal just advised against as its dangerous, e.g. you could get done for dangerous driving if you did something wrong. more

Open Question: An insured driver hit 2 of our parked cars...?

Early morning a young wasted (admitted to being tipsy) person crashed in to our parked cars, cars were totaled. Police where on the scene and made a report. We reported it to our insurance but the individual still has reported it to their own insurance. So far, we have gotten a car rental through our claim, but our insurance says that until the claim is made with the person's insurance we are still liable for the deductible. It is a little over a week and they still have not reported it. Is the a limit to when report it to the insurance in california (I know DMV is 10 days)? Is court the best we can do at this point? more

Open Question: Car Accident Personal Injury Claim - Solicitors dragging their heels & Barrister involvement?

To cut a long story short, I suffered serious multiple injuries in a car accident 16 months ago & while treatment is still ongoing I do have a definite prognosis for the 'outcome' of my injuries from my consulting surgeon so there is no question over the long term effects of my injuries. However, my solicitors seem to be very reluctant to get things moving with the claim and despite continued 'pestering' from myself they still have not obtained the medical reports from my surgeon or physiotherapy department in order that they can obtain the required "Independent" medical report in order to process my claim & seem very laxed about even trying to get them. This leads me to believe that whatever the delay in their action is, it is purely for their own financial benefit & not mine and when I questioned them today I was told "it will take a long time to obtain all the medical documents" and they need to get a barrister involved. Yet when I telephoned the treating hospital today they told me copies of everything can be obtained within 30 days.Bearing in mind I have been asking them politely since November to ask for these copy reports & they are apparently 'Still sorting things out' ........... My question therefore is (A) As a client of theirs (And therefore they are working for me, not the other way round), am I entitled to demand that they move quicker to resolve the case and (B) Why does a Barrister have to be involved? The other party admitted full liability straight away so there is no question of apportioning blame - The other driver was on the wrong side of the road and hit me head on at 60m.p.h!!) and the surgeon has already given me a long term prognosis of future treatment (There is no chance of full recovery due to the severity of injury to one limb). Are my Solicitors just 'stringing me along'? **This is a U.K case more

Open Question: Poetry: opinions/reactions?

I'm posting one of my "11/16/97" pieces here. There are others in the series, but I'd like specific reactions, opinions, and even suggestions regarding this one. 11/16/97 Second November Sonnet RECONSTRUCTION I Some things we can easily reconstruct Examining the evidence and facts: From the one set of tire marks we deduct The direction and speed of the impact, From the dry condition of the asphalt We rule out the weather being to blame As a factor, nor was there any fault In the brakes of either crumpled frame. Blood alcohol levels of the bodies Clearly demonstrate it was Driver A, Impaired, who crashed headlong into Car B. From the positions where the others lay, We are sure one brother died instantly Of a massive insult to head and brain, In the lap of his twin. Mercifully, We know the other remembers no pain And was unaware of his sibling's death Until he woke from unpleasant dreaming (So he terms his coma), took a deep breath, Saw his mother's face, and began screaming. Examining his chart would seem to yield A hopeful prognosis: he can now talk (The aphasia was perhaps a mere shield For the psyche), though he will never walk; Although we cannot be completely sure Of no improvement in mobility, It is likely (because there is no cure) He will accept his disability. His mental faculties show not a trace Of impairment (from this we can deduct His stammer will improve). His fractured face May prove more difficult to reconstruct. more

Open Question: Need some help with physics?

I've been working this problem for a while now, and my answers are all wrong.. Would love some help. A car is parked on a steep incline overlooking the ocean, where the incline makes an angle of 37.0° below the horizontal. The negligent driver leaves the car in neutral, and the parking brakes are defective. The car rolls from rest down the incline with a constant acceleration of 2.50 m/s2 , traveling 55.0 m to the edge of a vertical cliff. The cliff is 30.0 m above the ocean. (a) Find the speed of the car when it reaches the edge of the cliff and the time it takes to get there. _____ m/s _____ s (b) Find the velocity of the car when it lands in the ocean. _________ m/s (magnitude) _______- below the horizontal (c) Find the total time the car is in motion. _____- s (d) Find the position of the car when it lands in the ocean, relative to the base of the cliff. _________m (displacement from base of cliff) more

Open Question: What does this mean? Should I be worried?

I dreamt that I was standing outside my driver side door, looking down at my body in the car. A man was checking my pulse and determined I had passed on. Then I find myself at a table in a dark room with a handful of other people and we're playing card. I somehow feel like their ghosts, too. I have pocket 7's. I've been thinking about this dream for two days straight, and can't make any sense of it! Any thoughts? more

Open Question: Why is there a puddle on the floor of the driver's seat of my car?

For the past two times it's rained, there's been a huge puddle on the floor. My door was shut; my windows were up. Could the windshield have a leakage or something? There's yellow light with a container symbol that comes up everytime I start my car too. more

Open Question: Timetable for a no citation accident.?

I got into a little fender bender with another driver. It was my fault. Little damage was done to my car, some exterior damage was done to hers. We decided that because of the small damage we didn't need the police for a citation and that she would trust me to pay her. It's been 22 days since then and she hasn't contacted me. Of course I'm still willing to pay but I'm not going to call her up and be like "hey when do i get to give you my money." Does anyone know if there is a certain amount of days she has to contact me before it's possible for me to refuse payment and not fear her coming after me in court? I live in Nebraska btw. more

Open Question: How long does a cop have to file a police report?

I was in a car accident on the 23rd of December. A young kid tried turn left in front of us. Then realizing he didn't have time...braked in the middle of our lane.. My 5 month old was involved with the accident so we were busy with him and paramedics and didn't get a chance to get the other guys info. The police officer failed to give me a carbon copy of the accident info (suppose to in phoenix, az). Now being a month ..still no accident report. I've called the public records office they say the officer has it. It was sent back to him for corrections. I call the officer (who is a jerk) he says the public records office has it. He sent everything back. Now going on a month we have 1) No car 2) medical bills 3) stress involving this stupid incident. I have hired a lawyer but they will only represent me since I was not driving because my driver (my boyfriend) isn't cleared of fault. Anyway my question is how long does a police officer have to submit his report? (I know long paragraph for a single sentence question) more

Open Question: My car was wrecked on the Job by a careless employee! Job refuses to pay for damages! Advice Anyone?!?

My car (1987 Volvo 740 GLE) has been damaged on my job's property by a careless maintenance employee who has a history of drugs & this is the third time he's damaged someone else's property on the job. I'm a transportation engineer so I'm on the road with the company's vehicle while my car is parked on the company's parking lot, so this occurred as I was out on my shift. These are the damages: *front driver light pulled off *bumper pulled off *multiple dents & scratches I spoke with my employer who stated in threatening tone that my car is old anyway & the company doesn't have anything to do with the incident. I was also told not to report it & by chance if i report it the only thing that will happen is the deductible will go up so there is no point. These statements are blatantly ridiculous to say to someone whose property has been damaged on a company's property. My Question is what else should/can I do other than contacting my insurance company & getting a car estimate? more

Resolved Question: can some on review this essay. it is my homework and i need all the help i can get?

Argue for or against the limitations of speed limits Speed limits are posted for reasons that will help you through your life. School zones are one of the most important reasons. I am going to explain my beliefs on limitations for the speed limits. In most cases people don’t like to drive the speed limit. School zones in my opinion are the most important. I have small children going to school everyday. When traveling through school zones doing the speed limit you have the ability to stop faster when something out of the blue happens, a child running out in the street chasing a ball kicked over the fence in the school yard. If you were traveling over the speed limit you would not be able to stop as quickly to avoid hitting that child. The posted limit on highways is there to protect you from you losing control due to excessive speed. If you are traveling down the road and you are going well over the speed limit your reaction time to any kind of incident is very slow. You don’t have time to think about your actions. If there is an accident on that same road that you are traveling and you are traveling way to fast you are not going to have the ability to stop your self from creating a larger more severe accident. I live in Alaska and the speed limits are posted at the highest at 65mhp on the busiest highway here. There are lots of wildlife that cross the road and there are lots of accidents caused from hitting them because of excessive speeds. While working as a certified flagger in construction zones we would have speed limits dropped even lower than what the state has posted. That is to increase safety to all of the workers on the road ways. There is nothing scarier than having a car whiz by you going over the speed limit. All it takes is a bad tire to give out while traveling over the speed limit for you to completely lose control of the vehicle and cause you to have a serious wreck. So there for I am for the speed limits as they are a part of your every day life. Others may not like having to do 55mhp on a road but it is all for there own safety and the safety of other drivers on the road system. There a lot of accident and deaths from people not following the speed limit and I don’t like reading in the news paper about children that had no control on there parents driving to fast and then they got into a wreck. That in my opinion is uncalled for. So in the not so perfect world please follow all posted speed limit signs not only for you safety but as well as for the safety of everyone around you. more

Open Question: What do you call the top "bracket" where the coil spring meets the car in a Mercedes 300te?

I have a broken coil spring on the front drivers side of a 1991 Mercedes 300te. I am going to replace it but what I want to know is, what is that "bracket" called and should I replace it? It's pretty rusted out and doesn't look as well as the other side. I am going to add some links to some photos of the broken spring and the "bracket" that needs replacing. Here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32713893@N07/sets/72157623137912653/I checked out the strut mounts you were talking about but I don't think that is what they are. The Mercedes suspension system is different. That being with the coil springs not physically a part of the shocks and struts. Take a look at the pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32713893@N07/4295215699/in/set-72157623137912653/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/32713893@N07/sets/72157623137912653/ more

Open Question: Personal Injury Claim - Solicitors dragging along & Barrister Involvement?

To cut a long story short, I suffered serious multiple injuries in a car accident 16 months ago & while treatment is still ongoing I do have a definite prognosis for the 'outcome' of my injuries from my consulting surgeon so there is no question over the long term effects of my injuries. However, my solicitors seem to be very reluctant to get things moving with the claim and despite continued 'pestering' from myself they still have not obtained the medical reports from my surgeon or physiotherapy department in order that they can obtain the required "Independent" medical report in order to process my claim & seem very laxed about even trying to get them. This leads me to believe that whatever the delay in their action is, it is purely for their own financial benefit & not mine and when I questioned them today I was told "it will take a long time to sort out" as they need to get a barrister involved.

Open Question: Any Way to get back Homeee?

I am a College student, I do not know how to drive and I do not have a car. It would take me like many years til I get a car. I do not know anyone that is willing to drive me home by car. I live on campus. I go to school at Utica,New York but live in New York City, so it take four hours to get back home. On the first day my father friend drove me to school. My dad car is not good and it might take a long time til he gets it fix. I can not take the bus or the train because I have a lot of big things like a Mini-fridge, microwave etc.. I was thinking about leaving my things in a storage or renting a car or truck. I hope my father fix his car by June but if he does he wont know how to get to utica even with a GPS smh(bad driver) or find someone to drive me. My questions: any way of keeping my things in storage in utica, any websites or company or if I rent a moving bus or trunk, do I have to drive or can someone in the company drive my things to NYC while I take another transportation? more

Open Question: How do you get over causing a minor car accident?

I was at fault in a minor accident this morning and I feel terrible. The lady was horribly rude to me and yelled (yes, I know I deserved it, but it was an accident.) Her driver side mirror fell off and there was some damage to her door because I backed into it. I've never caused an accident in my life and I can't stop feeling horrible. I've had some terrible luck in my life, I am currently paying off medical bills and I increased my collision deductible to $1,000 to save money each month (and because I THOUGHT I was such a safe driver). I don't know if I can scrape together 1000 for her damage. I keep having re-occuring thoughts about being sued for emotional damage or a fake injury or something. It's just my luck. I cant stop crying, and I can't concentrate at work- what do I do?ugh I can't believe I'm such an emotional person. It could have been so much worse. more
