Resolved Question: recruitment for construction?
does anyone know any good agency's/recruitment in scotland? i have a few like all needs, search, and vanguard but having no luck, and if you have a better way of finding employment then do share please? moreResolved Question: I am shocked and appalled by such bad working practice.?
I am currently unemployed due to reasons beyond my control. I phoned a recruitment agency yesterday afternoon and they said that the only way they could discuss recruitment and employment options was for me to book an appointment. They said they were very interested in speaking with me and that they had LOADS of jobs meeting my criteria. I was very optimistic and I scheduled the appointment accordingly. The day I went didn't go particularly smoothly as I missed the bus by literally minutes. I telephoned them and they were very pleasant about it and asked me to try and get in in the next half an hour. I rushed into town and I managed to get there ON TIME!! When I arrived the woman didn't know who I was. I explained who I was but she didn't have a clue, she just thought I had come in to apply to an advertisment. She didn't even invite me to talk in private and spoke to me in the waiting room with everyone else watching. I explained the situation again and she consulted one of her colleagues who just shook her head and said "we don't have anything.." as if i'd just come off the street on a whim looking for work. The woman replied with "i've just spoken to my colleague and we don't have anything sorry". I just got up, said "OK! I guess I'll just look elsewhere" and left but I want to complain. I wasn't rude to the girl because it wasn't her fault but I made such a huge effort to meet with this woman and she wasn't there (if indeed the woman I was speaking to wasn't her). I am shocked and appalled by such bad working practice.Sorry I didn't add my question.. Should I complain or not? lol! moreResolved Question: I havent been out for 7 weeks now....I FUCKING HATE THIS COUNTRY.?
Basically it goes like this; 1.Medically discharged from the armed force's mid June 09. 2.Havent had ANY work since, despite signing up with office angels, brook street, Reed and GMC recruitment. For those of you who dont know, all of the above are recruitment agencies. 3. All my savings and any form of money have now become non existant. 4. I have no friends in the area i live in. (All my friends are either on tour or on the other side of the country, which makes it pritty hard when you want to go on the piss with them when no funds are available). 5. IM GOING F***ING INSANE. Im not stupid, im very fit and have more life experience than most at my age..I have the equivelant of 11 gcse's, 3 A-levels etc and more common sense than most. I guess i am just ranting but am i alone when i say this country truely has gone to the dogs AND why cant i get a job??? i was rejected from Sainsburies because and i qoute "i do not have enough experience, for the position i applied for". I applied to work as a shelf stacker..considering my last employment weighted with what responsibilities and achievements i currently hold, why is non of this recognised in civie street?..This country is a joke.and before people think ive been sitting on my ars behind a computer looking for work, no i havent. I write/email and phone companies job hunting. I think im just frustrated at what ive achieved essentially means sweet F.A in the real world. Frustration has truely set in. moreResolved Question: Why is Job Discrimination a normal practice in UAE?
Equal Employment Opportunity does not exist in UAE. There is absolute employment discrimination based on applicants’ race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Job discrimination can be clearly seen in Job adverts released by renowned UAE news papers and recruitment agencies. Most sucking is the fact the, the UAE media duly condone such discrimination. Common words used in job adverts includes “Indian”, “Pakistanis”, “Filipino”, “Kenyan”, “British/American” etc. Why this unethical discrimination? moreResolved Question: If I am not happy with my employment agency, where should I complain?
I got employed via a recruiting agency, the agent was not helpful at all. He does not care that I am underpaid, he never replies my enquiries and the worst thing is whenever I ask him a question, he never knows the answer. To be fair, other agents are very good except him. Anyone can give me any suggestion on the recruitment agency complaint authorities? Thanks! moreResolved Question: My former employer is refusing to pay me for hours worked because I quit. Is this legal?
I worked for a recruitment agency which placed me in a casual (with the possibility of eventually becoming permanent) role. They told me they were looking for someone to stay ongoing for as long as it takes, and not just leave after a while. There was no contract regarding this, as a casual outsourced employee I'm certain it is not possible to make such agreements. I took the job and completed my first week and got payed for the hours I worked. In the next week, I worked 2 days and eventually decided to leave as I had too many commitments and the work was just not for me. They got a bit fussy but eventually let it go, but I was supposed to get paid for the 2 days I worked and they are refusing to do so. They say that I did not complete a full week worth of work and since I left their employment before pay date, they are not required to pay me. Is this legal or am I entitled to the pay?I am NOT in the US. I live in Australia, NSW. Is it the same case here? moreResolved Question: Which recruitment agencies deal with employment within the Hatfield Business Park?

A leading employment agency in Belfast has admitted supplying recruitment staff to man a BNP membership hot line. After this was exposed by anti-facist group Searchlight ''Office Angels'' immediately terminated the contract the had with the BNP saying ''We do not discriminate against a persons race, age or sex.Its totally against office angels values to do this not to mention against the law'' I have no love whatsoever for the BNP however --unless I am being really stupid--aren't office angels discriminating themselves against what is sadly a legitimate political party? I just received this reply from a recruitment agency that I send my CV to in order to register with them, and am trying to make sense of what they actually mean as I recently did a complete CV refresh. I get the impression they are contradicting themselves. If my CV was interesting, then why wouldn't they hold on to it. for future. Are they saying I am not a good enough candidate for them or something else? Many thanks for sending a copy of your CV to Quantum People Ltd. Unfortunately, we currently don't have any opportunities to which we can match your skills and experience and whilst your CV looked very interesting, we do not have the capacity to retain your details on our database at this time. Excuse my language - I never normally swear. My whole office was given notice of redundancy on Wednesday just gone at 10.45am (so 6 days, 5 hours and 25mins ago). Since that time my colleagues have just been dissolving into tears and gathering at the pub to drown their sorrows, but I have visitied 8 recruitment agencies, emailed my CV to 10 job sites, applied for 31 jobs (and created a spreadsheet to monitor my applications), and sent 18 letters out to companies including my CV. I check every newspaper and visit 11 jobsites daily. I know it's not been that long but i've had hardly any responses, and the only few that I have had is to tell me i've been unsuccesful. I was so determined not to let this experience break me and to not let anything get on top of me, and to be stronger than my colleagues, but I feel like it's all just catching up on me. I'm so miserable and SO angry. I KNOW that i'm better than some of the idiots in full time employment in jobs that I WOULD be better at.I have been chasing responses from companies and recruiters but I just keep getting promised call backs. moreResolved Question: I am in receipt of following mail, whether it is fake or not?

Your thoughts please on the possibility of suing a company over nearly hiring me, and myself incurring rather significant financial losses because of their decisions.. Let me explain? In May I applied for a brilliant permanent role at a major company based in Scotland, while I lived in Manchester, to start asap. The recruitment agency then introduced me to the employer for a much lower position, without making me aware. I gained an interview at the end of May and got the offer. A bit shocked regards the terms, but needing a job, I reluctantly accepted it over the phone. My current job ended May 31, and this one was to start June 15. The recruiters encouraged me to move to Scotland quickly. I didn't seek temp employment, regarding 2 weeks off a welcome break if tricky financially. Around June 7, the start date was then postponed to June 22 (1st pay date Aug 20), and I asked the recruiter to negotiate on this and on the employment terms. He came back to me shortly after asking for my commitment, again encouraging me to move North. I stated I couldn't go unpaid for 3 weeks, but he was shocked at the suggestion I might have to apply for temp roles etc. He did not speak with the employer at all. A week later, the start date was again amended now to June 29 and the stress I was under became almost unbearable. June 22 I thankfully found a better contract elsewhere and I cancelled the Scotland drama. At that time, no contracts had been signed. I ended up having paid a deposit and rent on a flat and unable to find temp work for a few weeks, being unemployed for a month and having to move again for the other job (who thankfully had a relocation package). Still, because of this recruitment saga I've lost well over £1000 pounds in travel, rent and lost earnings - made worse by having to get loans out later-on to tie me over and the emotional stress. While I'd normally take this on the chin, the company are now claiming wages of me they paid me in error, though I haven't received anything - so I've reached boiling point. But is there grounds for a claim here do you think?True, but how long can I expected to remain unemployed, waiting for a start date. moreVoting Question: Where am I going wrong with my job applications? Tips on getting noticed during current economic downturn?
I am an experienced professional in my field, with excellent credentials and a good C.V. The jobs for which I am applying are very well suited to me, not outside of my capability and are applied for with a professional approach. Thing is I am hearing absolutely nothing in return! Not a call, email or acknowledgement of any kind! Over the 12 years in which I have been in employment, I have seen first hand the massive influx of recruitment agencies and am fully aware that their response level can be poor. I've always gone by the rule of no news = no news but this time around things are considerably worse. I realise we are in recession, but I can't get my head around why these agencies are receiving a C.V from a guy who is clearly qualified and an excellent candidate for the job, but choosing not to follow it up. Can anyone (ideally from a recruitment agency) shed some light on this? Do you think my email/ application is even being looked at? All I can think of is that they are being literally flooded with applications. If this is the case, what advice can I use to make mine get noticed, when all I have potentially have is a subject line? I am lucky enough to be in a secure job, but if I was sat at home waiting for these responses I would be going out of my mind!!Just to add, I work in the field of Quality Assurance, Environmental Management and Health and Safety moreVoting Question: Should I put the name of the temp employment agency on my resume or just say recruitment firm?

I was called into work by an agency I was registered with to work in a factory for a 3pm - 10pm shift. The shift normally starts at 2pm but the agency called me at 12pm saying the factory they were working on behalf of ordered late notice and meant the shift started at 3pm instead. When i got there, it was 2.40pm and the factory supervisor sat me in a canteen area, along with the other 11 staff they had ordered and told us we had to wait. We were waiting for 4 hours when i decided i had had enough and was going home. It was then i found out that the factory refused to pay us for these hours and therefore the agency weren't in a position to do so either. This must be wrong? I know I am only a temp but they cannot treat people like this surely??? PLEASE HELP ME as i find the employment law vague regarding this subject on all the UK government sights. Hi all, Can anyone recommend the best agencies in birmingham, UK. I need to get a job asap, the boredom is killing me! Thankyou. moreVoting Question: Moving into HR from Recruitment?
I am trying to find out some informtion as to whether or not a recruitment background will help my route into applying for HR positions. In summary I spent 8 years as a business manager for a large company - this function covered everything from proft and loss accounting to marketing to purchsing and also a large part was performing an HR function such as OH&S, employment law, employment forecasting, productivity hiring and fireing and appraisal, training and development and assessment centres on a business unit and national scale. So maybe about 50% of my time was spent on HR - so it was note a core HR position. For the past 8 month I have chnaged jobs and companies and work for a recruitment agency - looking after a couple of their large accounts for which we have preferred supplier agreements - so the environment is very much focussed on dealing with finding the right candidate for my client and getting them through the hiring process and then dealing with the paperwork side and working alongside our payroll department etc. To some degree it does involve dealing with terminations and career guidance and where possible working alongside my client to assist them with workforce planning. So its not the average recruitment job where I've heard 99% of it is cold calling for new business. My question now is that I would like to get into a core HR position and am wondering how easy this would be for someone of my background. I am thinking about doing my diploma in business (HR) to assist this route. However, it would be a shame to spend the money doing this, if companies are unlikely to consider someone from my background with diploma or not. Any advice would be appreciated moreResolved Question: Recruitment agencies / equine?

I have been offered a role and received the offer of employment which I signed and sent back over a month ago. Since this date my employer (CEO of a Recruitment Agency) and I had one conversation to discuss what needed to be done, such as getting the internet and a mobile that the company will be paying for (written in the offer letter with salary details and hours, holiday, etc) as I have been seconded to the Czech Republic but remain a UK employee. I am due to start tomorrow but for the last week the company have been unable to confirm that they have sent my equipment and contract as requested by myself. We agreed to have a conference call on friday and when I had not heard from them I called and they stated they were waiting to hear from me and the company owner was now in a meeting. I advised I was available and yet still no call so I texted and called again and still no reply. I am due to start tomorrow, but am unsure what to do. Where do I stand? What assistance can I get? My son applied for seasonal employment (Dec '08 to April '09) working in an Hotel in the French Alps, through a recognised UK Recruitment company. One, in fact, that he had already successfully worked through last winter season. He attended an interview in London and was subsequently emailed a job offer (24.9.08). He replied within one week accepting the offer (30.9.08). Three weeks later he emailed a question regarding whether accommodation was included in the job, as this was not clear in the offer. The company emailed back, the same day, stating that 'accommodation was included'. This email was replied to on the string of emails which included the email of acceptance from him. He duly sent copies of his Equal Opportunities form, P46 and EHIC card as required, on the 19th Nov and handed his notice to his current employers on the 28th Nov, giving two weeks notification of intention to leave. The contract in France was due to start on the 8th Dec. On the 28th Nov, due to the fact that he was still waiting for the promised official contract, I telephoned their offices on his behalf to query issue of the contract, prior to making his travel arrangements. I was advised by the HR assistant that they had not received his acceptance of the position. I advised her that they had. Remember the string of emails that they replied to, one of which included his acceptance email to them! She denied this and said that because 'they hadn't received his acceptance, the offer was void'. After some additional discussion regarding the dates that emails were submitted, she changed tack and advised that the Hotel involved in the contract had 'now pulled out of the agency'. I stated that this was a bit difficult to understand as no confirmation had been given to my son that this was the case. She then decided that the best course of action was to hang up the phone. I have not been able to contact her at the office since, as she is either 'at lunch' or 'on the other phone' or 'not in today'. I have tried to talk to her manager, on three separate occasions, who is either 'out of the country' or 'not in the office today' and 'no, they do not have a mobile contact number for her'. Sorry for the long winded introduction. My question is, does my son have rights for claim against a breach of contract here and if so, to what extent and whom should I contact to progress this? I would have preferred for the agency to admit some error here and offer to find him alternative arrangements, but the fact that my calls are being ignored, is a likely indication that they are not willing to do this and just want the issue to go away. Thank you for any advice on this subject. The contract is/was with the UK Recruitment company and all correspondence has been with them.Cari, Thank you, some useful and guiding points there. I guess that he will put this down to experience. Fortunately, his company have accepted his withdrawal of notice and he is back with them. I understand and concur with your comments regarding the 'parental intervention', however, the only reason I got involved initially was due to the fact that he couldn't call them during the day and I said I would phone them on his behalf to ask about the contract so that we could arrange his travel arrangements. Thanks again for taking the time to provide a concise response. moreResolved Question: will I pass the reference check?

Hello all, I've recently relocated to the UK and have been dealing with several employment recruiting agencies. I've held several very senior roles in the new media market and have had great responses from a few recruitment agencies. I need some advice on one particular incident, as it's a position I really would like to try for and one for which I am imminently qualified for, however the agency that was posting the ad, never called me the first time after submitting. After calling them, they claimed they had it and would review it and call me back later that day, then five days later I had to call them - they claimed it was not in their system, and requested another copy via email. After receiving, they deemed me "qualified" and said they would submit to the client. Well, needless to say it's been well over a week and no feedback - so to make a long story short (and yes I know it's too late for that), I happen to know who the company is and that the position is listed via their corporate site. I wonder how ethical it is to apply directly to them, in case my CV isn't getting through. Not sure and would appreciate any feedback. Cheers! moreResolved Question: Employment Law question about contractors (temporary employment)?
After returning back to work having a period looking after my baby. I contacted one of my recruitment agencies to look for a job, they were able to find me a position at a social housing department within a big company. I went for an interview on the 27th November 2008, quite positive. Later received feedback from my agency, seemed the employer wanted me to go for the full time post as there was a part time post to which i opted for. The agency said I would be starting on the 1st December 2008, and told me my hours and days, which we negotiated. Also there was the problem of getting references to which i gave appropriate information. The next day in the evening, as they were trying to get hold of me throughout the day, apparently, but left no message, my agency told me the employer decide to employ someone from their pool of workers who would work out cheaper than employing me. I feel this reason was dubious and there was a verbal contract even though they may of changed their mind, also during the day time, the job centre called the agency to verify that i had the post, to which they still acted like i had the job. Is there any breaches here, Can i take this further as i was on a real high to get back to work. moreTop Employment Recruitment Agencies Links
