YES, I'M A BAD AMERICAN I Am the Liberal-Progressives Worst Nightmare. I am an American. I am a Master Mason and believe in God. I ride Harley Davidson Motorcycles and believe in American products. hey, i was wondering about the maintanence for some bikes im interested in, first, the more conventional harley davidson. i know that the older ones, like the panheads require greasing, and checking the chain and fluids often. but i'm more worried about mileage. an older bike needs the top end rebuilt around every 12k miles. what about newer harleys? particularily a naked softail 1200cc . when do these new bikes need rebuilding or other maintanence. annd the other part of the Q is about sportsbikes, i'm looking at the 07-09 zx10r. i've never really seen high mileage sportsbikes, so if it's not totalled or crashed or anything, about how many miles would it be before it would need to be rebuilt, or whatever you do with sportsbikes when they get high miles, what is high miles for a sportsbike, i dont ussually see many with more than 20k miles, and to me it hardly seems practical to spend that money to get 20k, out of a bike moreResolved Question: very early model harley davidson 1 cylinder?
i got this bike. it was my dads. he recently passed away and dont know much about this bike. i have 2 other brothers and we were looking through his stuff at my moms rental house and came across a crate with all the parts to a 1 cylinder harley davidson. with alittle more digging around we found the frame. for as long as my brothers and i have been alive, we never knew this bike excited. i have been searching the internet with no such luck to identify it. some sites say that the 1st 2 numbers are the model year and some say different. so im here, again. the 1st 2 numbers are *67. when looking online, the ones that look like this bike are the 1st harleys ever made, beside the long square gas tanks. this tank is more circled. it could be a different tank. the frame is stamped as well as the motor. same numbers. the frame is covered in rust with a few areas where you can see that it used to be red. all the motor parts look brand new. i hope som1 out there can help me with this issue. i hope i gave enough info for som1 to help idenify. if not, ask and i will add more info...thanks moreResolved Question: 2001 Harley Davidson Heritage Accessories/Parts?

Please dont say the harley will keep getting leaks and parts will fall off because its just not true. But which one is better performance wise based on each companies reputation today and not the past? moreResolved Question: Does anyone else feel marketing plays a big part in adoption?
Inspired by another question which got best answer chosen before I could answer, hum hum, you know who you are. (joking) Does anyone see a connection between marketing and the way people view adoption? I had stated in my answer to that question that marketing is a powerful tool and the industry has hired some of the heaviest hitters to do their talking. I pointed out that Harley Davidson uses almost the same technique. People camp out for days to sign up for new model bikes. The hipe surrounding this is intense. There are long waiting lists to get new model Harley Davidsons and people are willing to pay top dollar for the priveledge of getting one of them. I also pointed out that one person posted about the subtle coercion techniques used while she was going through an agency. She admitted that they started off talking about how selfless and wonderful surrendering mothers were, but by the time they were done, we were all crack whores who didn't deserve a dog let alone a kid. (adlibbing there a bit) but you get my point. Marketing is a powerful tool used every day to get you to buy the latest Swiffer product, or Tides new scent, why would you not believe that adoption agencies would do the same thing? They are paying big money to have their message heard, they want the biggest return on their buck as possible. Just because I'm a surrendering mother doesn't mean I don't understand a perspective adoptive mothers situation, I think it is the one area we have something in common. Empty arms are empty arms, and I understand that. I wanted nothing more than to be a parent. So does anyone else see the connection? In 35 years, adoption went from costing a few hundred dollars with NO medical bills paid "gifts" to tens of thousands of dollars and "ALL" medical bills paid. Do you really think their main concern is finding homes for children or just keeping themselves in business by using tools like pre birth matching? What a way to track future income, it's brilliant, but what does it really say about what they think of us, the people who use their service? moreResolved Question: I want to buy a new Harley Davidson, but the economy is bad, should I wait, or is now a good time?
I don't need to finance I am worried about the future resale value of the HD, if HD goes bankrupt, the value of that bike is lost forever, or if the go bankrupt, replacement parts will either be nonexistent, or very expensive, or the warranty will be worthless. I'm considering on getting a Blast to be my first bike. It's a little bit more pricier than the Nighthawk and Ninja but is more stylish than the Nighthawk and has a larger engine than the Ninja. The seating position appeals to me a lot and it looks like I could add a lot of features to it if I wanted to. Also, being that I'm new to all of this, Buells are purchased at Harley Davidson dealerships right? Also when I save up a bit more cash, the gear I plan on buying are. Gloves and boots by alpinestars. A jacket by icon or alpinestars. Would you recommend body armor? And for the helmet I plan on buying a Scorpion Exo. I'll be riding around in an suburban area, westchester county, 20 minutes from New York city. There are many SUV's around here which are my main turn off for buying a bike right now being that I'm only 19 years old. I also need to look into the right insurance to purchase. But............ Buell definitely is my number one choice. As well for any other style of riding I'd go with KTM. My main turn on for buying a bike is because it's kick ass and I want to be a part of the motorcycle family. =] moreResolved Question: Where is a good place to buy Harley Davidson aftermarket parts?

I had heard down the line about the HD promo for MSRP or close to when you trade in your Sportster towards the purchase of a larger Harley. I came in made a deal and traded my bike 10 days before the promo was made official. I rode it home and trucked it back a couple days later where it sat at the dealer waiting on parts/work to be done and was not avail until 12-26 the day the promo was made official. According to this promo if they honored it they would have shorted me $3700. I am hearing of people who are in the same predicament as me and have received compensation. I've tried talking to my dealer (who is a participating dealer in the promo) and am waiting a call back from them and the regional sales rep as well. Anyone else going through this or get reimbursed in any way??? I'm hearing from people I'm asking in the biker community that some people have gotten cash back (hardly any) or even store credit. So far I am being offered 20% off parts and service on anything and even discounts towards the purchase of another bike. If you are going through this let me know what you got offered or if you got reimbursed let me know how you did it (who you talked to and what it took). Harley (corporate) is off until the 5th of Jan so I got to wait until then before I get to talk to someone in corporate. Here's the link to the promo http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/2008_Campaigns/ride_free/rideFreeCurrent.jsp?locale=en_US Can people only respond that can offer info that would be helpful. The first guy right off the bat is a tard that just likes complaining. All I'm tryin to find out is if there's any options for me, don't need my question/thread being highjacked into a thread about the economy. Look it's not just rumors people are being taken care of by Harley (what the dealers are doing varies) because they are loyal and this is my 3rd Harley I just want to make sure they'll look out for me and take care of me and in return earn my future business. And as for the first tard plenty of companies offer a guarantee on pricing and if there is any promo offered after a purchase is made they'll honor that promo on your already done deal. Harley as a company has already made that clear by starting to take care of some of the people in my predicament. moreResolved Question: If you put on a Harley Badlander seat can you switch back and forth with the orginal?
On a 2009 Harley Davidson Street Bob can you swap back and forth between the factory seat and the Harley Badlander seat? I want that single seat look but want a 2 up seat when my wife wants to ride. Harley says the purchase requires rear footpeg mounts, footpegs, and rubber bumper kit for rear fender. That makes it sound like the front part of the seat uses the factory mounts and the back part just sits on rubber bumpers. If so, couldn't I just swap seats when necessary since she won't be riding with me very often. moreResolved Question: Harley Davidson Parts?

This information is taken from their annual reports. An annual report is a summary of a company’s financial results for the year along with its current financial condition and future plans. This report is directed to external users of financial information, but it also affects the actions and decisions of internal users. A company uses an annual report to showcase itself and its products. Many annual reports include attractive photos, diagrams, and illustrations related to the company. The primary objective of annual reports, however, is the financial section, which communicates much information about a company, with most data drawn from the accounting information system. The layout of an annual report’s financial section is fairly established and typically includes the following: Letter to Shareholders Financial History and Highlights Management Discussion and Analysis Management’s Report Report of Independent Accountants (Auditor’s Report) Financial Statements Notes to Financial Statements List of Directors and Officers This appendix provides the financial statements for Krispy Kreme (plus selected notes), Tastykake, and Harley-Davidson. The appendix is organized as follows: Krispy Kreme A-2 through A-17 Tastykake A-18 through A-24 Harley-Davidson A-25 through A-30 Many assignments at the end of each chapter refer to information in this appendix. We encourage readers to spend time with these assignments; they are especially useful in showing the relevance and diversity of financial accounting and reporting. Special note: The SEC maintains the EDGAR (Electronic Data Gathering, Analysis, and Retrieval) database at www.SEC.gov. The Form 10-K is the annual report form for most companies. It provides electronically accessible information. The Form 10-KSB is the annual report form filed by “small businesses.” It requires slightly less information than the Form 10-K. One of these forms must be filed within 90 days after the company’s fiscal year-end. (Forms 10-K405, 10-KT, 10-KT405, and 10-KSB405 are slight variations of the usual form due to certain regulations or rules.) i was wondering why does it seem that bodymen do not get the respect (financially) they deserve for the work they do. it is just so strange because people will take there auto or motorcycle in for repair and have no problem paying the crazy labor rates being charged for repairs. but when it comes to having body work done everyone backs up and doesnt think bodymen should be able to charge similar charges. i think mechanics and bodymen both have special talents. for years i worked as a mechanic. but later began painting cars because i really enjoy it much better. but as the economy slowed last year and there again people not wanting to pay a fair price for work i (as a motorcycle enthhusiast) moved to orlando fl to attend MMI and learn to work on harley davidson motorcycles. i figured while things are slow back home in ga i could get some more education. but while here i decided to do some paint work to earn some extra money. well the new problem is there again people not wanting to pay fair prices. latest example, i took on a job doing a resto paint job on a 92 Trans Am convertable. the car was in pretty good condition other than i am actually redoing the car from where the owner thought i could do the work with having no experience. he pretty much butchered the car. he had already completly disassembled the body. all plastic and rubber body parts have been removed along with the doors fenders and truck lid. . i have worked 4 days on the car so far. i have completely sanded down all body parts, completed all bodywork, put all parts in high build 2k primer, wet sanded and blocked entire car with 220 grit sandpaper by hand using guide coat method, and reprimered all parts which will get a final wet sanding with 400 grit prior to paint. all together i have put in 22 hours of labor at an hourly rate of only $15 per hour. i am doing the car at his garage so i have no overhead cost is why i am doing it at such a low rate. anyways to he complains that i am taking to long to perform the work. i nearly told him to shove it and finish it himself. but i could use the money. i reminded him that i only do it the right way and that is the only way i do it. i gave him the option to let me finish or leave it for him to finish. he opted for me to finish it. what do you all think about the whole situation.... yea $15.00 an hour is cheap. but you know it is extra money and that does not include any material. when i first came to florida i took a job at a local paint shop. i work there for 3 days till i quit. they were actually a $199. and up to $599 for base clear paint shop. my experience FAR exceeds what they do. i just could not and would not train myself to do such low quality work. but you are right about comparing the paint jobs. dang for $299 i would not even color sand and buff one. it cost at least $100 in sandpaper, buffing compound, and pads. people need to wake up.. moreResolved Question: Is anyone other than me a bad American?

Alright, well I live near Portland, OR and I'm wanting to sell my 2003 Harley Sportster 100-Year Anniversary Edition XL883C Bike. I'm at work right now so i don't have much information on it. But I'm a full time student and a part time employee. I'm struggling with bills and so I can't afford to keep up with the payments on the bike. I still owe $6,684.77 on it to Harley Davidson Financial Credit. It has low mileage since I barely ride the bike, it just sits in my garage. Is it possible to sell it for what I owe or more? How do I go about selling the bike? I don't know where to start. The bills are very tough for me during the Fall/Winter and I need to sell it so i can focus on the other bills that need my attention. I decided to sell it since it's just sitting with little to no usage. moreResolved Question: 06'Harley performance parts?

My husband is interested in becoming a motorcycle mechanic but of course we cannot move to AZ so that he could attend MMI. We have a house payment so he'll have to continue working full time while attending school. (or at minimum, part time if I added a job to my full time day job but he doesn't want to put us in a bind) Here's the problem: We were on the web all night & he discovered that Harley Davidson only hires graduates from MMI. This discouraged him greatly because we have a dealership right down the road! Is it true that Harley only hires out of MMI? Also, we cannot seem to find any vocational schools that offer courses in bike mechanics in our area. We live about an hour's drive north of Austin, TX and he'd be willing to drive to Austin if night classes were available but we can't seem to find anything anywhere. That, and MMI would be impossible. Do you suppose it would be possible to get part time work at an independant shop & learn on the job? He's built a couple mini bikes from scratch so he can already weld (both) but he's no mechanic. I'm looking for serious, honest answers. Please don't respond just to get points. We're having a hard time finding any info on this so if can provide any it would be greatly appreciated. moreResolved Question: how much can i sell my bike parts for?

My husband is very stubbron, I love him dearly and i don't want a divorce but sometimes he can drive me crazy to the point where i don't ever want to see him again.... I'm a fulltime student we only have 1 car, and we have 2 kids... I wanted a used crappy car for school, but my husband said we couldn't afford it and instead he wanted to buy a harley davidson motorcycle (yeah exactly) well it worked out well for the summer, but now our kids start school (different schools at that) we only have 1 car and 1 motorcycle, what can we do about winter when it snows, i'm in school all day everyday he works 2nd shift, all of a sudden he wants a used car to get him to work, but still keep the motorcycle.. so now he wants to get a part time job during the mornings to pay for his new "used" car, i said NO because we can't afford it... instead of buying the car when i told him now we owe the car we have, the motorcycle and the car he wants, it's crazy... He barely makes enough to pay our normal bills,i he doesn't understand, he always gets what he wants and i'm sooo tired of it, he doesn't listen to me when i say no and i've had it.. I don't have a job, he's the only one bringing in the money, thousands of times i said i'll quit school to get a crappy job, but he says no to finish it... Yet all the damn time, he's arguing with me and telling me that i don't have a job so i can't say anything about the way he spends money.. He's a good husband, except when it comes to money and him getting everything he wants, he'll put up a fight, make me feel like crap, tells me to leave him if i don't like it, and i don't know what to do anymore.. I have nowhere to go with my 2 kids, he breaks my heart sometimes and all i can do is cry...plz help! p.s. we've been married 5 yrs, he doesn't want to go to counseling, and he wants another baby knowing i can't since i'm in school for Radiation Therapy and it takes up all my time.. He thinks i won't be working as hard as i say once school starts, I'll be volunteering at the hospitals and in classes from 8 am till 8 pm.. he doesn't want to get rid of the motorcycle... he makes about $2,800 a month and our bills are over $3,000 a month... another car is just another car payment, car insurance payment, and more gas to waste money on because his job is 1 hr. away from our house. he wants me to stay in school because once i'm done i'll be making over $70,000 ayr starting off, but i just don't know if i can handle all this pressure..
