Hey I got some free led drivers from TI(texas instruments) but I have no clue what they are for and how to connect them in a circuit. Can someone please explain this? I know they are used to control the current throught the leds to keep it constant but what would a whole circuit look like? moreVoting Question: How to construct a circuit diagram by using battery, 2 resistor, 1 ldr, 2 led,1 npn transistor and 1 ammeter?
I do not know how to construct right diagram.Actually I want to do a light sensor circuit. Can i use 2 ldr in 1 circuit . Is it possible? And can the ammeter give a reading at the same time? moreResolved Question: Spotty Outlet. Not providing enough amps?
So we've got an outlet in our living room that's acting really, really strange. A few weeks ago our lamp started flickering a little but. Nothing much, just a little now and then. Next, the outlet wouldn't power our laptops. I realized though, as soon as I turned on the lamp, the outlet would immediately provide power to our laptops. It's like the lamp completed the circuit or something. Now, it's like, completely dead, and can't power either. It provides just enough power to turn on the little led on the power brick for a few moments, then fizzle out. I'm baffled. Besides one-line answers telling me to be safe and call the electrician, any tips or ideas what's wrong? moreOpen Question: Engineering-LED problems......................................................................?
My speaker's power indicator LED is not working but the speaker is working just fine. The LED lights up normally if I supply an external 3 volts so the problem is not in LED. There is a capacitor connected to LED which seems to have malfunctioned. It gives no reading when I connect it to multimeter and is behaving like an open circuit. My question is what value capacitor should I replace it with?? Any ideas? I have no capacitance measuring tool.Edit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46308122@N05/4432272070/ The value on the capacitor is not mentioned. All that is written is "C22" beneath it.@roach: yes, its just a power on/off indicator led. I don't think there is a fuse in my speakers anywhere. Also if the power to the section is cut off then I don't think the volume control should have worked either. It is present near the led. The speakers are cheap ones comprising of a subwoofer and 2 speakers and the assembly of the on/off indicator LED and the volume control is located outside of the speakers and subwoofer. Thanks guys moreResolved Question: Resistors in a parallel circuit?
I am going to wire LEDS in a parallel circuit there will be 12 LEDS and they will be running off a 9V battery. do I need a resistor for each LED or do I just need one at the beginning of the circuit? moreResolved Question: thermistor circuit help please.......?
I have a thermistor varying between 4.5k and 5k ohms for the range of temperature I want to measure. Using a potential divider I have the voltage varying between 5.36v and 5.64v. I want to power an LED when the temperature is inside this range. How do I do this? Is this voltage range too small? I have tried amplifying it with a 741 amp which gave me output varying from 11.26 to 11.38 this still seems too small. I have looked at this circuit I found online: http://www.camotruck.net/rollins/electronics/thermo-tpcd.png It seems to compare a voltage set by the pot to a voltage caused by the change in the thermistor resistance. Aside from the fact I would not know how to configure this I think the voltage range I have is too small for this to work. Please help. moreResolved Question: Why does an LED from a 555 IC still turn on when it is connected to a +5v power rail?
I've seen circuits that have had a LED connected to the top power rail (at say + 5 volts) in series with a 220 ohm resistor going to the output of an oscillator (oscillator - 555 IC [to act as a buffer] - LED). But why does the LED still light ? I always thought that the LED and series resistor needed to be connected to the bottom power rail (ground / 0 ) for there to be a potential difference so that the LED lights. But is it because there has been a loss of voltage (after going through the other components in the circuit) which is enough of a voltage difference between that and the +5v rail, so that the LED lights ?? Many thanks for any suggestions/help with this problem. moreResolved Question: Fading / Pulsing / Breathing Led Circuit?
I'm trying to take four simple white leds and get them to fade in and out very slowly all at the same time. I've looked pretty much everywhere else and can't seem to find a circuit diagram or picture explaining how to do this, slowly, with 4 leds. I plan on using 12v input as it will be for a car so it will need to withstand fluxes of a few volts. Thanks. moreVoting Question: What amount of battery voltage would you need to power a 20 watt mini bulb (almost the size of an led)?
I am wiring up a circuit of a couple of 20 watt mini bulbs for an architectural project for uni. moreResolved Question: parallel - series circuit?
Here's my problem: I would like to use eight, 2V solar cells, arranged so that I have 4 sets of 4 volts (two solar cells in series, the four pairs in parallel) and in the same circuit use only 6 of the original 8 so that I have two sets of 6 volts (three solar cells in series, those two sets in parallel, and the last two solar cells unused or powering an LED or something). Can you think of any way in which to design such a circuit? I saw that many of the examples on the net have a 6-pin switch, but I think I might need a more complex switch or maybe multiple switches. Thanks!I did mean that I wanted to switch between the states (parallel and series). Sorry that I did not mention that. The reason I was hoping to arrange the circuit this way was because I wanted to be able to charge two different batteries (one 3.7V, the other 5V) with the same solar cells if possible to make it more useful and compact. Each state or system would eventually lead to one source, so I would have 4 volts with the current of 4x that of a single cell and in the other state 6v with the current of 2x that of a single cell. moreResolved Question: High Temp Thermostatic Circuit?
I need to maintain the temperature of a metal vessel at any arbitrarily selected temperature in the range of around 150 - 350 celcius with an LED to give a visual indication that the selected temperature had been reached. I would use a hand-wound nichrome coil submerged in mineral oil for the heat, and a 'resistance temperature detector' or a thermocouple to measure temperature. I am only 15 and have no great grasp of electrical engineering, and would be very grateful if someone could give me some idea of a suitable circuit with appropriate values. moreVoting Question: How do I source this LED driver board?
I have purchased several of this type of driver board from dealers on the web. But I am getting tired of paying retail price for them. I want to know where to purchase a bulk lot of this type of driver? How do I source this board? The board I am looking for uses a 7135 chipset and is multimode with a high of 2.8 amp. This link has a picture of what they look like. http://cgi.ebay.com/LED-Driver-Circuit-Board-for-Cree-MC-E-SSC-P7-Emitter_W0QQitemZ250594211855QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Flashlights?hash=item3a5894380f The ones I want have the 8x 7135 chips on them, and use the Atmel TINY13V controller chip, but I would prefer the board that has the 4 stars on the back to program the driver rather than the 17 mode like this one. Its likely that these come from Hong Kong, but I am not certain. The 10 points goes to the one who finds me the manufacturer and/or the cheapest bulk lot of them. moreResolved Question: What are these electrical components called, and where can I buy them.?
Ok, I'm an absolute noob when it comes to electronics, I've installed a mod chip in my xbox 360 as my first soldering project and now want to do some custom upgrades and add LED's. I plan to install a mod chip called pulse VU2x, which pulses any LED's attached to it to the beat of the music you have playing on the console. It suggests using a resistor as a 5v live input, then you add LED's and put the gnd wire to the pulse VU chip. It can also control the RF ring of light module on the front of the xbox. Seen as though the input and ground are connected to the 360's motherboard and I'm going to be mounting the LED's around a see through window on the case, I would like some way of dis-connecting them to make it easier to dis-assemble the case. Also the RF module needs to be removed to remove the 360's motherboard so I want to isolate that too. I also plan to mount the LED's on some ribbon with a plug on each end so I can easily change a section with different coloured LED's. Right, I have no idea whatsoever how to draw circuit boards, or what symbols to use so please do not laugh, but here is a crude diagram of what I want to do.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/47763448@N03/4411518347/sizes/o/ My question is, I need plugs to go between each part which have two pins for gnd and vcc. I have no idea what they are called, or where to get them. Also would it work??? Following instructions to install a complicated mod chip is one thing, but I don't know electronics and am on a learning curve. If I used super bright 5v LED's in a series, would I require a 5v resistor (I think I read even though its a 5v supply, a power spike could damage LED's??). I'm from the UK so uk only sites please.Oh and I shrunk the image in paint and it looks like things aren't, connected - they're supposed to be, but you should get the general idea. moreResolved Question: Do you really believe everything those Atheist Scientists tell you?
The average homeowner feels they can trust the professional electrician who wired their house to know what he’s doing. Most electricians have had formal training or years of experience in their field of expertise, and that’s good because you trust them with the safety of your home and the lives of your family. But how much do they really know about electricity? Some of the things they think they know are nothing more than circular logic or assumptions based on assumptions! This has led to some very wrong thinking and has to be corrected time and time again, yet they claim to have all the right answers on matters electrical. For example, ask an electrician how they know how much voltage is in a circuit. You’ll be told about the magic little box called a voltmeter which can wondrously measure the invisible, odorless, weightless electrons and give the voltage. How do they calibrate this device to be so accurate? They run voltage through it and set it to match! Of course, you can clearly see the voltage they run through it would be known because it had been measured by a voltmeter, and on and on in a prime example of circular logic. The truth is they don’t even care enough to change major mistakes when they find them. When they first started their arcane art, they guessed at which direction the electrons were moving and assigned the familiar positive and negative signs according to that - but they got it backwards! A century or two later, they decided they had it backwards but did not bother to change it except when working on things like designing computer chips. They’ll tell you “it’s good enough” or “it doesn’t matter” when it comes to your home, but since when has completely backwards from reality been good enough on something as deadly as electricity in your home? What if a gunsmith told you backwards doesn’t matter when shooting a gun? Electronicists are often at a loss when confronted with evidence that doesn’t fit their beliefs. Light bulbs are not actually "light bulbs" but dark absorbers. When you turn them on, they suck the dark out of the room. You can prove this by holding your hand under a "light bulb". The dark will stack up under your hand where its path to the absorber is blocked by your hand. When they quit working and turn a dark color, it’s not because they burnt out, it’s because they’re full. I once explained this to an electrician and he was at a complete loss for anything to say. I could tell by the way his shoulders were convulsing as he walked away he was sobbing, and he avoided talking to me about electricity from then on. I didn’t bother to tell him that electrons don’t really exist (they have never been directly observed by anyone), but that electricity works with magic smoke. If you touch the wrong two wires together, the magic smoke leaks out and the circuit stops working. By now it should be clear to the objective reader that electricians may think they know about electricity, but it’s really nothing more than the guesses they’ve been taught to believe as fact by the self interests that controls the electrical industry. In any of the “official” codebooks and research journals they refuse to publish anything from outside their secular clique so they keep control of all information on the subject, even going as far as convincing lawmakers to force their beliefs on the public. More and more communities even have laws requiring all electricians to be approved by the secular code and forced to follow the Electronicism dogma in their work! If you would like more information on this subject, a copy of our 3 hour video Answers about Electricity, or to make donations, contact us at The Amish Institute for Scientific Research.Slightly Dark Francis: I wrote that about 10 years ago, and it has been on Usenet, the old Yahoo message boards, and several other places throught the years. I would like to make a circuit that contains around 5-6 LEDs. What I want to do is have each LED come on sequentially as the current through the circuit increases. For example, when current is small, one LED is on. When current increases, two LEDs...then three...and so on, so that the more current that flows through the circuit, the more LEDs are lit. Now, I say current, but I suppose it could be voltage...what I'm going to do is have a solenoid with an iron core hooked up to the circuit and take a magnet and induce a current in the solenoid. Then the current should light up the LEDs momentarily, the number of LEDs lit corresponding to the current produced by waving the magnet past the wire coil. I know this is possible, because my friend did it in college and I'm now trying to help my brother do it for science fair but can't quite remember how. I am converting a big old flashlight from incandescent bulb to LED. I would like to measure the brightness before and after to make sure I get same amount or more light afterwards. I can use AD conversion 0-5V, and 10 bit resolution from PIC. My plan was to make this circuit and be able to adjust so that in sunlight I would get the full 5V, and then put in a dark room with my flashlight and measure brightness. Thanks for reading all the way, hope this makes sense. moreResolved Question: Love Electronics/Circuits? Help Me!?

My present house is built in such a way that it receives a lot of sunlight everyday. The intensity of sunlight is extremely large. So I want to develop some equipment so as to utilise this solar energy. I am thinking along the following way:- My equipment shall work like this- the sunlight will charge the solar cell, which will eventually be stored in the 12 V battery. Some type of meter should be present which will indicate the charge level of my battery. Once the battery is completely charged, the energy will be utilized to light up the LED lights, whenever I require. It means that the circuit should also consist of a switch. But please suggest, how many LED lights are required to produce sufficient lumen equivalent to a 40 Watt Tubelight? moreResolved Question: Where can I get a new infrared receiver for my central locking for my '97 Renault megane?
Ok, so my car's in a car park and I go back to it to unlock it. I press the button on my key, nothing. I try it a few times more and still nothing. I open up the door with the key and try it inside the car thinking that maybe the window was too dirty or something. Still nothing happens, so I'm sat in my car with no way to disable the immobiliser so I can get home. I checked the infrared LED on my key fob with my camera phone and it's giving off a strong signal so it must be the receiver in the little bulb right in front of my rear view mirror. I've taken it out and had a look at it and it looks fine, no scorch marks on the circuit board at all. there was a little wear on one of the contacts but not all the way through. I did however find some green oxidisation power on the receiving lead though so I rubbed it off and sprayed it with some circuit board cleaning fluid and let it dry out. I put it back together and still nothing. I tried re synching the key with the receiver but it didn't want to know. The ECU let me go into the mode to re synch it but it didn't seem like it was picking up a signal. Now, I know that Renaults built in the same year as mine all have a problem where the sunroof leaks where the ariel is attached to the roof and the water builds up in the little dome where the receiver is. I've tried everything I can think of and everything that I've found on the net. So what I want to ask you guys is where I can buy a new infrared receiver in the UK, because I desperately need my car up and running again. There's no way I'm taking my car to a Renault dealer as I know they'll charge me a fortune to do something that takes only a few minutes. Website would be preferable seeing as I work 6 days a week and I don't really get out much, but if anyone knows of a place near or in Witney, that would also be extremely helpful. Many thanks in advance moreResolved Question: Need some help on LED brightness comparison?
Hi everyone, I'm planning on installing LED lights in the interior of my car. I've read about the legality, and it seems that green lights are legal on the interior. I have found suppliers that offer a 23,000 mcd LED with a viewing angle of 15 degrees, and another LED that is rated at 8,000 mcd and has a viewing angle of 10 degrees. I want something that will produce a bright glow, as the light bars will be hidden from direct view. There will be an LED every 1/2" of the light bars. None of the commercial light bar manufacturers are able to supply me with either a lumen rating or a candela rating, so I have nothing to compare this with. I have little experience with lighting but a fair amount of experience with circuits and the like. Which would be the better buy for me, in terms of brightness? Is the higher mcd rating a brighter LED, and is 23,000 mcd bright enough for my application? moreResolved Question: How do I wire my add-a-circuit into my Jeep Liberty for my interior LED lights?

I am using the same style bulb in these soffits and I do have a different style in a few table lamps.. perhaps I'll change the brand/style. BTW, They do not even get warm, so overheating is not likely. They also blow out right when switched on. During a heavy downpour 2 nights ago, I woke to find ALL the leds on - just slightly. A friend suggested it was caused by low atmospheric pressure (they are basically dc) and that would happen to her on her boat with leds.. moreResolved Question: Overpowering a circuit by 0.5 volts?

Band #1 - 'McKenna Mendelson Mainline' were from Toronto, Canada, and were very popular here (Canada) during the late 60's/70's. They released 3 albums between 1969-71. The following two cuts are from their 2nd release titled 'Stink' (1969). Believe it or not, future Funkster Rick James was also in this band for a short spell. Based on their popularity, the band flew to London England to record this album during the tail end of the great British Blues Boom/Revival of the 60's...while abroad, they worked the same English club circuit as up and coming bands like Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin... I live in the U.K. and I have recently become a customer of talktalk due to tiscali being bought out when i first switched to broadband I had a modem and had a lot of trouble with connecting to the internet not to mention slow speeds close to that of dial up. After months of problems we were given a free router and downgraded from our up to 8mb package to upto 1mb as we were told our line couldnt handle this. Since then we have had a much better service with the rare hiccup but it has been much improved fare to say 1mb isnt outstanding but its something. However since the end of December i started experiencing slow speeds sometimes as little as 0.10mbps which made it impossible for internet use. I have been in touch for the last two weeks and have had internet on and off, fast and slow eventually my constant complaining led to there technical expert phoning me in the past i had been told there was fault on my line but nothing had happened. Apparently now according to them the circuit is being replaced? I live in a village not far from town but apparently my rural location has this really old BT circuit which means i get slow speeds and is "being replaced" my friend who lives closer to the exchange than me in town gets 5mbps so im not expecting 20mbps but a neighbour gets 2.5mbps and is with the same company. To be honest all i want is a consistant, reliable service but im intrigued by this circuit where is it for a start? i havnt seen any BT vans or roadworks near my house would this be near to these green boxes that have something to do with it? Can someone actually explain to me how this all works as I honestly don't know whether to trust my provider anymore they are helpful but am i just getting told rubbish? Has anyone else had a circuit replaced near them? i doubt fibre optics will come to me even before 2020 let alone 2012. moreResolved Question: General Soldering Question?
The story is that I was replacing some surface mount LEDs on a circuit board and as I removed the last LED, the solder that was supposed to stay on the board came off. So now there is a bare spot on the board where the solder should be so that I can replace the last LED. My question is how am I supposed to re-apply the solder to the board in the spot where it came off? Any help is much appreciated. I can send pictures if needed. moreTop Led Circuit Links
