What does it mean exactly for a nursing program or school to be accredited? What happens if you go to a school that isn't accredited? Are nursing schools/programs only accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE? I'm currently attending Pinnacle Career Institute im really trying to get into the RN program but from what im being told is i'd have to start all over again. our school has been telling us we are learning everything that is being taught in LPN courses. If thats true then why won't anybody take my credits from PCI. I dont wont to take two years of courses when ive already done half of the required courses. PCI is apparantly accredited nationally. I just really need help as to what i should do.Im a medical assistant trying to become an rn but i dont want to go through the LPN program to become one because MA's and LPN's both have the same course description and i dont want to redo everything ive already done more

Resolved Question: Is it ok to attend a nursing school that not yet accredited?

I am planning on attending a school that has just added LPN program and therefore the program is not yet accredited. In order to get the accreditation, they need to have a certain amount of students pass the program and because it is "new" we would be the first group. The teachers have said once we finish and pass the state board we will be able to get a job, and if we choose to bridge to the RN program we could do so because we have our license..I want to know is this correct?? Is it ok to join start the program which is not yet accredited? more

ANYONE LOOKING INTO NURSING SCHOOLS, bohecker college of nursing westerville ohio is NOT accredited !!! they are approved by the state board of nursing but not accredited and are very sly about how they address this issue. They know that not many students would go through a program that is not accredited. now don't get me wrong you can sit for your nclex and become a lpn but credits from here to other schools won't transfer and other problems with not being accredited. just a warning for students wanting to further their career after rn... more

Resolved Question: Career Change to become an LPN?

I have a Bachelors in Business, Nothing is happening for me now. So i decided to go into nursing. I called around a few schools and I will have to take more science for instance to get in to the RN program.. So, I decided to go go to a Accredited Technical School thru the State and get my LPN.. All I have to to is take a entry test to get accepted in the one year program.. They advised that I can advanced to the RN program at the Community College. Then from the Community College I if i want I can go into the BSN Program.. What do you think.. I was thinking at least with the LPN I can work with in a year. If I go straight to the BSN program right now with my regular BAchelors degree then I will have to take about a year of Sciences I think to just get ino the BSN program. Please Help. Oh yea.. I am a also a medical Bill Coder and I hear that If I am a LPN or RN I could make good money doing it all together.. Ideas Please.. about me going into the LPN its only 3900 for the year... more

A few months ago I saw something on the news about a nursing school in New York (or maybe New Jersey) that was not licensed by the state. The school was charging students thousands of dollars. After studying, students found out that the school was not accredited, and they would not be allowed to take the exam for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs). What was the name of the school? I am starting nursing school in April for my LPN at a local tech school that is accredited by the state. After graduation I sit for the testing to become and LPN and then will begin the RN program and then sit for that test. And maybe even someday go for my BSN to MSN. I want to have a secure job that will literally take me places. I wanted to get some info about the Navy Nursing Corps. Resolved Question: medical assistant schooling costs..how much is too much?

The school i'm looking into is career institute of florida, they are nationally accredited, offer everything from bookeeping to phlebotomy. part time, it will take me 16 months to complete, front office and back office procedures. the cost is 13,000$ i know it's alot, i don't want to go to a community college because i don't have the time or the capability of all the pre reqs. been there, done that. there is job placement at the end of the course, and the tuition includes everything, books...etc. except scrubs and shoes. Help! I really want this education, and i do not want to be an rn or an lpn, i am also hearing that the job is in high demand, and the pay can vary from 15 hrly and up. i am in florida, i've been a part of healthcare for 10 years, but these days to get a job, people want to see a diploma. i have a 16 mth old son, i want to have something to fall back on always. more

I am looking for a good LPN program in my area. There seem to be only two, one at Penn Institute of Tech, and DE County Tech School. Here are the links: DCTS: http://www.dciu.org/923201311081063/site/default.asp PIT: http://pit.edu/index.html The DCTS is accredited for the LPN program, PIT is accredited for the general certificates/diplomas/degrees. Is PIT ok, or should I just wait on DCTS? PIT has a new class starting every month - DCTS has a wait until 09/09. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Can I work abroad (US, Canada, Europe, Australia or NZ) when I graduate as an LPN in Philippines?

I already took BS Psychology when I was in college but wanted to shift into Nursing since this is one of the best jobs I know that can give me better opportunities to work in abroad, specially in the US and/or Europe. However, I don't know if they are going to credit the minor subjs that I've taken when I took bs psych & I think having another 4yr course (BSN) would be some long time to wait. Now, I have seen in the internet lists of accredited schools at Philippines which offers 2 year course in Practical Nursing, but have browsed some info too that it'll be useless even i become an LPN since there's no way I can apply for work in the US unless you already have a legal status, such as a "green card", work permit, or you are a US citizen already. Can anyone help me regarding this matter? I have planned to go back in my homeland (Philippines) late this year to study again (practical nursing) & I wanna be sure first with my decision while I'm still here in abroad. its called americare institute in IL heres the link for it http://www.americare.edu/ the only thing is i cant find any thing about them anywhere else they say their lpn program is approved by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, a state agency that oversees all nursing programs in Illinois as well as the Illinois State Board of Education Americare is also accredited by the North Central Association Commission Accreditation on School Improvement so what im saying is does this school have all the right credientials for an lpn program i plan on going for an rn license later one but im wondering if this place might be good for an lpn program to start off with more

Resolved Question: What should I look for in a nursing program?

I am thinking about entering a program for LPN in my town. This is what it says on their website, "The Robert T. White School of Practical Nursing is conditionally approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing and the State of Ohio Department of Education. The Program is accredited by the North Central Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement." Does this qualify as a good nursing school? What should I look for in one? Also, what is an average tuition for one of these programs?Well, the school has only been open for two years and as far as the passing rate of the LPN test is concerned, I'd have to find that out. What does "conditionally accredited" mean? I mean, how can you be conditionally accredited? Doesn't make sense to me.I received a response from this school the other day. They are not "conditionally" accredited anymore. They received their full accredation in July of this year. Out of their 26 students that took the LPN exams this year.. all 26 passed!! So I guess that is good news! more
