Resolved Question: What is the best way to get into the nursing career field?
I mean when you go to college, what is the best way to save money and time. Isn't it best to start off to become a LPN first, then advance if you want to later? instead of going straight for a associate degree or bachelor's degree to become a RN? moreOpen Question: What classes you take for pharmacy?
I am enrolling in a community college and want to become a Pharmicist. I have 2 years of college paid for ( from recently losing a job). I have to come out of school with a degree or certification as one of the requirements to have my schooling paid for. I plan on keep going to school after this. What degree or certification would further me towards a pharmacy career besides just a pharm tech. I was looking into LPN and wondering if the classes you take would be beneficial to a pharmacy career. moreResolved Question: Anyone know of any home based business ideas for Licensed Practical Nurses?
Hi, I'm an LPN and in school finishing my degree in Medical Billing and Coding and a BSBA in Healthcare Management. I am having financial challenges and are looking for ways to utilize my experience (10years) as a Nurse to generate extra streams of income. PLEASE NO MLM, SCAMS, ETC...I'M LOOKING FOR LEGITIMATE IDEAS/RESOURCES. moreResolved Question: Anyone know how to get an LPN or RN degree online?
Is there any college or university that offers an RN degree online? I can't find any where you don't have to already have an associates or LPN. I know I'll need clinical and stuff but I was hoping there was someway I could do the rest online so I can be home with my baby. I'm open to get a LPN license too. moreResolved Question: need advice on moving across the country from Pennsylvania to California?
I was looking through other questions similar to mine hoping to find the answer but I guess I'll just ask it anyway since I wanted to give more specifics to my situation. Okay here goes: Short version? I want to move from PA to CA and more specifically from Punxsutawney, PA to Ontario, CA. Okay here's the long version now: The main reason I want to go is for a sweetheart of over 6 years but I want just as much to live there for the climate and job opportunities that are far more available than they are in these woods over here. My problem? I have a Bachelor of Science degree from Clarion University in Psychology and I have been unable to find someone over there willing to take a risk and hire me. I haven't had any return calls even though I take time on my resume and have applied to several different places through HotJobs and Monster.com. I have worked several different types of jobs and am willing to do anything that will support my survival over there but I don't know what jobs to apply for or what websites I can find to e-mail resumes, etc. Currently I am working in a nursing home as a Personal Care Aid and I couldn't be happier with this job. Unfortunately I know that they typically don't make enough money to live on their own. Any ideas on what kind of jobs will support a single person apartment over there? Also, I know where I want to live and am saving enough money now for the security deposit and rent (it's a gated community in a nice area). My problem is not going to be getting there because I plan to drive and whatever doesn't fit in my car is getting donated so really the only expense getting there would be gas for the car and munchies on the way. My problem will be to find out how fast I can find a job before my money runs out because it seems that I'm not having any luck with getting the job before I get over there. My future career options I'm looking at are becoming an LPN or an RN once I get established in my own place and have a steady job. I thought about getting a CNA license at home before I go but then did more research and found out that I would just have to take the classes over again anyway because that certification is different in PA and CA. Anyway, you might be able to tell that I've been doing a lot of thinking about all this along with planning and research. I'm just getting to the point of being frustrated because I want to move as soon as I have the money saved but I would feel much more secure with having some sort of guaranteed job before I get there. I would love to hear from anyone with similar experiences or people with good thoughts about what I could do. Thanks for taking the time to read my question and really long story and please help me out on this if you can! :-) moreResolved Question: Can someone tell me what I can do to become an RN?
I have been in community college taking my pre-reqs for 2 plus years for RN. I am almost done when next semester when I complete my Math. But I have taken all pre-reqs. I have had alot of trouble with Chemistry, Math, Microbiology and have failed some which have brought down my GPA. Some of my grades haven't been great due to having 2 children, working and maintaining 14 credits. I failed the NET test at one of the hospitals I was going to transfer to. I'm having a hard time finding a school which most require a GPA that's 3.0 or higher. I'm in north NJ and need to transfer to start my nursing career already. This is what my passion is for and my dream. I love the medical field, I'm a medical assistant. I was wondering if someone knows what I can do to transfer somewhere. I was thinking maybe getting my Associates degree but that would mean I'd be in my school for another year or so. Then I would just be able to enter the RN program without any pre-reqs. Or go to an LPN school to bridge to an RN program which takes the same amount of time as the RN. I would have to retake the NET test again and make sure I pass this time. Does anyone have any suggestions that knows this field. Thanks. moreVoting Question: I am trying to obtain my RN degree, is it better to obtain a LPN license first and then go to a RN? ?
I am going to school for a RN and I have about 6 classes left before I am able to register for the nursing program. I have encountered 2 problems the first being that I have taken all the easy and quick classes in the beginning and is now left with the hard ones I have 3 biology classes an elective a math and a CNA to obtain. The second issue is that getting into the nursing program is hard it can take up to a few years possible. At this time I can't attend classes at this school because I owe them some money so I don't want to sit out for a semester so what should I do and which is the best method? I am looking for a response from either someone that is educated in this field has been there or is an RN please email me at yolanda1983@comcast.net Thank u moreVoting Question: Is it better to go to a city college for a associate degree for a lpn or a university?

Ok, what is up with all these Medical Assistants saying that they do more than LVN/LPNs and that they are phasing out their jobs? The last time I checked, I don't know ANY Nurses of ANY degree or level who are having a hard time finding a job. The medical assistants are. What's up with this? If you try to tell them otherwise, they are self-absorbed and swear up and down that they are on the same level as an LPN moreResolved Question: Has anyone used or is familiar with The College Network (online courses)?
I am an LPN trying to earn my BSN through The College Network partnered with Indiana State University. I would really love any feedback regarding this, or any online program that anyone has had experience with. Thanks! . I know the college network is not a school nor do they award degrees, but provides module study guides in order to 'test out' for the pre-req's, then my credits will be applied to the BSN program at ISU for completion of the degree program there inculuding the final nursing courses and clinicals. The question I am asking is if anyone out there has used this method, is it reputable, is it professional, etc? Is The College Network reputable? Reliable? I plan to contact my state board of nursing tomorrow and see if they have any information as well. Just want to see if anyone else has used this method!! moreVoting Question: LPN or Bachelor's in Business Administration?
I can't decide if I should go for an LPN or Bachelor's in Business Administration? What are your thoughts on this subject? What do you think would yield more money and satisfaction in the long run? I have an associate in science and an associate in art with a lot of classes and a few certificates in business so I am leaning more toward that but I have noticed that there is a very strong demand for LPNs, CNAS and RNs as well as other medical professions. I want to make the right choice and not end up with a crappy degree that I can't use. moreResolved Question: I can't decide if I should go for an LPN or Bachelor's in Business Administration?

I hate math. Not particularly interested in science either. Acting is my passion. Then writing. I am almost done with my first semester in college as a communications major. I only picked this major because I want write fiction; however, a degree in creative writng just doesnt seem as credible as communications. It would be cool to be a public speaker, but I dont want anything to do with journalism or reporting. I have to have a career that is hands on. But like I said, acting is my first passion and the whole waiting tables thing just isnt going to work out for me. I have expenses to be paid and I want to get my own apartment and be independent. Right now I live with my parents. I want a career as a night shift lpn then rn so I can pursue my other interests, any advice??? I also dont want to be in school for the next eight years. I have no idea what the hell I want to do with a communications degree that I cant do without it. Nursing is specific and pays well. Plus there are job oppurtunities out the ying yang! I am a passionate and friendly person so I have confidence that I can truely help people. Which I like the idea of helping people rather than catering (like at restaurants) to them anyday! moreVoting Question: How do I become a nurse? ?
I am wanting to become an RN but in the least amount of time possible. I work full-time as does my husband. He is currently attending school full-time also. We also have a 2 year-old daughter. I am wanting to become and RN but don't know what is the best way to go about it. Can you do it online or do you have to take the classes on campus? Should I become an LPN then take the RN exam? Get an associates in nursing? Get a bachelor's in nursing? I don't know the difference between all these degrees or which one would be best for me. moreResolved Question: Becoming a nurse, where do i start?
My Wife wants to become a nurse. She is 21 years old. We live in New Jersey. I think the process is to get an associates degree from a community college and then transfer to work towards a 4 year degree in a state school. However... looking online at Bergen Community College where she already has about 16 credits, it says all nursing applicants for the A.A.S evening program need to have a valid NJ LPN license. (legal practical nurse) How does she first obtain this? If i am wrong on the steps, please advise me. I am thinking about going back to school to be a RN. I currently have a BA in Communications. So, what degree would I have to get? LPN, BSN??? Whats the big differences, and with either of these, can I take the RN test? moreResolved Question: Accelerated second degree in nursing (BSN) - what are the best schools for that in Michigan?
I'm about to graduate with a bachelor of science in health care administration. I've always been interested in nursing, though. If anyone knows about associates degrees in nursing that would be great too. As long as it's a program that allows you to be a RN, not a LPN, and has a reputation for 95%+ success rates on the NCLEX-RN. moreResolved Question: Ugh! I currently work in the mental health field. I was just wondering.................. moreResolved Question: Real College or Job Training?
I want to attend a community college for their Nursing program to become a RN. I'm wondering if there would be any need for me to travel off to a "real college" when I could just take job training for the same thing. It seems like I can start community college and become an LPN and then take their bridge program to become an RN. But I'm confused as to weather there is some degree or something I have to receive in college that would make it official. Or weather i can just start working right out of community college. moreResolved Question: personal trainer through nursing?

Okay my situation is like this Im 26 years old I have two small children and a two family income. I was in and out of college since last year working towards my nursing degree (Rn) I have finished all my pre requisites. The reason why I dropped out of school was because there was no way I could get into the nursing program and not be able to work. I want to become a nurse I was a CNA for many years and liked the field only thing is I no longer has my certificate because I moved out of state and my certificate lapsed. How long does it take to get your degree to be and LPN and how long does it take to get an RN? Also do you need to get a bachelor's degree to be a nurse or is a community college fine? moreResolved Question: LPN/RN question! HELP?
Okay, well i'm currently attending college for nursing. For my LPN degree it would take about a year and a half, but for RN around 4 years. I'm at a point in my life where I want to move out of my parents house, get a new car, and start a life of my own. But the only problem is I can't do all that while being in school for 4+ years, so I was thinking about getting my LPN degree, make sure that's what I really want to do with my life, and then go back for my RN later. I realize that LPNs aren't really common in hospitals anymore, but I don't want to work in a hospital, my goal is to work in a pediatrics office. My parents on the other hand don't think this is a good idea and think that I should go for my RN right away. Any advice? I am at a community college and it says its a 2 year degree but really it turns out to be 4 because they require a lot of pre-reqs that are pointless such as a bunch of electives,gym,speech,2 english classes,2 math classes,3 levels of anatomy, psych, abnormal psych, sociology moreVoting Question: Student Loans Fiasco?
While I was in school I initially accumulated around $5,000 worth of loans. During my freshman year I decided to study abroad in Ghana in Africa. I had planned to go into the International Foreign Service upon completing college and I thought the experience overseas would a great introduction to international culture. The complete cost of the program itself for one semester was around $15,000, but I received a large scholarship that covered most of the cost. While abroad I was told my by school that due to the fact that 2 of my classes were non-transferable (and the University of Ghana would not let me change classes) my scholarship would be cut down to $3,000 (which I really had to press for) leaving me needing a $12,000 private student loan. I was referred to SallieMae and I was able to get the complete amount in a loan, but the interest rate was 12.5%. I figured things would be okay because I would be making a lot in the future. However, upon returning I met and fell in love with my husband while still in school and I realized that I could never leave him. We got married and I got pregnant and not knowing what I was going to do with school, and scared about my loans, I dropped out. Now my loans have accumulated to a total of almost $20,000 and I have no degree to show for it except for a General Studies AA degree. I've decided to go back to school to get my LPN degree (1 year program at a local community college), but I'm so scared about my loan building up due to the interest in the meantime. Is there anything I can do to lower my interest rate? Do you have any advice for me? Thanks for your help. moreVoting Question: What to do about an RN degree?
I just became an MA with a degree and am taking radiography in the spring. i have an associates of applied science under my belt as well. everything i have heard in town is the CNA then you have to go to the LPN, then the Rn program. or there is a program at my school but you have to go through all these preresquisites and it seems pointless and a waste to take classes over when i don't have to. what is the best/quickest wat to RN? I was just wondering. I'm going to be going to a Community College at first, then a 4 year college. I'm wondering what degree I should be taking in the 2 year college. I was 18 and just got my GED. English was not my first langauage so I left high school to study and get my GED. I thought I was worth nothing and ran into a Webster University ad (somewhere Florida). I went there to discuss what I might want to do. I told the guy I wanted to go for RN (registered nurse) and he told me that this place is perfect. I was told that RN is a 2 year degree and that they offer a LPN degree which takes 1.5 years. I took out massive loans to attend this school. After 2 semesters I found out that none of the credits are transferable and that if a college did not want to accept them they did not have to because the standard is a 4 digit system and websters is 3 which is not used by community colleges. This guy told me that I can take what I get at webster and use it towards my RN degree. HE TOLD ME THEY TRANSFER. Well, now I owe salie mae 6k. OK, well i'm 17 and at the point in my life when I have to figure out what I want to do with my life. I like math, so I was thinking accounting, but my dad says "you don't want a desk job, too boring, doesn't pay much" (he majored in accounting). i'm taking intro to Psychology now and I'm at the top of my class, it's interesting and I like it, but dad says "you would have to get your Masters in it and then get a teaching job, not many other choices for that, but it would make a good minor". he thinks i should go to a tech school (like my older brother and sister who are now in tech schools becoming a fire fighter/EMT - bro and LPN - sis), or go into a profession like Physical Therapy (pays great) or something media related (many job openings). also going into the Air Force is something he's wanted all 3 of his kids to do. i mean what do i do? the only thing i really want to be in life is a wife and mother (which is when he mentioned Southeastern University "bridal college". we personally know over 20 people who have gone there and came home with a wife/husband). so i'm kinda at a loss here. i want some kind of degree but don't really know why or how I'll use it. and i don't want to go to college just to get married. other people have told me "you've got time to figure it out", my parents tell me "they aren't the ones paying for your education you need to figure it out and soon" HELP!!!! moreResolved Question: Parents, can you help a desperate teenager? I need help.?
