Lpn Online Course Questions asked
Open Question: LPN to BSN programs online?
I saw LPN to BSN programs online and was wondering if this includes getting an RN or would that be a separate course?
moreOpen Question: How can I become a LPN M-IV in Ohio?
I am currently in nursing school to become a LPN in Ohio. At the moment, I am looking at job listings to see where the jobs are being offered and what kinds of jobs are out there for an LPN. I notice a lot of them list that they need the LPN to be able to prepare medication and that the LPN needs his or her IV certification.
I am going to ask my school on Monday about this, but I am curious to know if schools are usually certified to teach the IV course and medicine course. I know that we do have an IV lab and we also have a pharmacology class. I don't see the accreditation listed online for the school and the course descriptions for the two classes don't mention them as courses to prepare a student to become certified in IVs or medication administration.
So basically, would the schools prepare me to become a LPN M-IV or just a LPN? Those are different license classes. (See: http://www.lpnao.org/ohio-nurses)
If a school doesn't, then what schools or places would offer it? How long does it take?
Would I have to become licensed before I take the classes to get the medicine and IV certification or can I take the courses and then become licensed? Do I have to graduate first before starting the certifications courses?
moreResolved Question: I am considering going to a vocational school to become a medical assistant.?
Is 16,000 dollar's tuition steep? would it be easier to try and become an lpn? I heard that those classes are so full there's a lottery for them though from what i find online, they are much cheaper than 16,000 dollar's would it be wise to do the MA course and get my foot in the door than go for lpn or just wait it out n' go straight to LPN HELP ME OUT PLZ!
moreVoting Question: How much schooling is required to be a CRNA?
I just read an article on EHow.com about all this schooling you have to do. But they didnt quite make it to where it made sense. PLEASE break down what exactly I need to do (please include how long it would take, also!). I didnt graduate high school because of family issues, I am in the process of getting my GED, so would that automatically take me out of becoming a CRNA? Once I get my GED, I am going to get my LPN, and while working as an LPN I plan to continue taking online courses to get my RN. Honestly, I didnt quite have any desire to get my BSN (wouldnt that take me an extra 2 years to get my BSN?) BUT, after seeing that CRNA's make boat loads of money, Im interested in getting my BSN and maybe getting into CRNA... PLEASE break this down for me! What amount of schooling do I need to do this? What EXACTLY does the job have to do with? What exact certifications (obviously LPN, RN, BSN, and what else??) would I get if I did graduate as a CRNA?And if you or someone you know is a CRNA, how much do they make? THANK YOU!
moreResolved Question: What jobs are available for a person with an associates of arts in business degree?
I just enrolled in online courses for my associates of arts in business, and need to know what my job opportunities will be? I need to know if I can use that degree to enter into RN school. Or if I have to be an LPN first? Please help me!!!
moreVoting Question: DO LPN or RN CLASSES MAKE YOU?
Do public speaking if you take nursing courses at a on-campus college? If so, how often? And are there classes that do not require presentations or speeches?
If it does require public speaking on campus and I decided to major in something else ONLINE instead would it still require public speaking/presentation outloud?
Also how hard are the LPN classes? Not so much a phobia speaking one on one or in a regular conversation, but making public speeches infront of an audience/classroom where all eyes and ears are focused on me makes me nervous as hell.Like book reports I used to have to do in grade school..lol I hope college is nothing like that.LPN's are in demand in my area and are only being phased out of the hospital settings but still are in big demand.
I do not have so much of a problem speaking with regular people but I just get nervous making any presentation and public speeches in a class setting. It's awkard and I am an introvert to begin with in the first place. I've already worked as a CNA in H.S. but I am ready to move on.
moreResolved Question: Which hospital job should I pursue? Medical Records or Hospital Unit Clerk, Billing, Nursing, etc...?
I was thinking of taking either the "Hospital Unit Clerk" or the "Medical Records Clerk" course which focuses on compiling, processing, and maintaining medical records of hospital & clinic patients. I would also take an "Electronic Health Records" course which teaches the theory & hands-on application needed to work in todays medical office. I was considering the "Central Sterile Technician" course, but it seems that Surgical Technicians primarily hold these jobs.
After completing the above, I would then pursue either the "Medical Transcriptionist" or the "Medical Coding Certificate". Both are online courses through the school, and require an internship. I felt this field would be the best choice based on my previous experience. Although I have not worked in a medical office I was a Project Manager for Fedex Kinkos for over three years. I have strong "business/office" skills, and am a very detail-oriented, organized individual.
There is also a "Certified CNA" course & a "Home Caregiver Program", and I would take both. I was thinking of pursuing the Practical Nurse program next fall, since I would only need 9 classes. However, I don't know if I can handle collecting blood or administering IV's, if required. For some reason, the idea has always bothered me. However, I know I could earn more as an LPN, and maybe this fear of "pricking others" would pass.
What would your advice be? I am seeking a position that is in demand, and pays at least 30K. Should I take the Hospital Unit Clerk or the Medical Records Clerk course, and then take Medical Coding or Medical Transcription. Or should I continue to consider the LPN route. Honestly, I would be happiest in an office environment doing clerical tasks.Or should I perhaps consider the Medical Assistant program, instead of the Medical Coding certificate. What would look better to a potential employer, and is the earning potential the same?
moreResolved Question: i'm planning to go back to school i need to take an entrance exam where can i go online to study to take it .?
hey i am going back to school next year and im very excited i have been dancing around the whole idea of going back and saying i don't have the money. but after one dead end job after another and doing my managers jobs on top of my own job and not getting paid extra for it ..i think it is time for a change my mother is a head nurse of course she wants me in the nurse field and my fascination with learning about diseases and watching surgery videos i should go into the medical field.. my mother knew i would end up in the medical field one day she told me when i was little i would cut open lizards and stitch them back together .. i kno i was weird child lol i love animals guys i was young i was curious i have many pets that i spoil.. .. so i am planning to go to a 18 month program for LPN then work and pay my way to get my RN .. i am going to a school in manhattan ... i need to take a entrance exam and maths is not my friend at all but i am determined to better my self ... because i love to work and make money and yes i am workaholic so i have been searching websites after websites for books and online websites to help me study for the exam and also if i get into the school websites that can help learn even more things and excel in school ... so does anyone know any free websites that help with nursing or LPN testing and learning more while in the class... please help thanks i would really appreciate it thank you..
moreResolved Question: Nursing online courses (Online Nursing Degree )?
i am trying to continue my education but have to work to provide for my family so i thought about online classes but i am having trouble finding one since I have an AS Degree in medical assisting. I have not been able to do this for the last 5 years so i thought i will go for my LPN or RN can you help me.
moreResolved Question: Is it tough being a nurse?
Im attending school shortly to get my LPN certification & the college I plan on going to offers a LPN to RN major. So while working as an LPN Im going to keep going to school to get my Associates. They offer all online courses, with the exception of labs and such, so Im figuring that it wouldnt be too hard to do that. Ive researched this a few different times, and from what I have read, I will have to do things such as med/surg for a while to get my experience before doing anything major. Is that true? What my PLAN and hope is, is that once I graduate with my RN, I can get a job as a Labor and Delivery nurse. Is that a really high hope? Is it hard getting into that area of work? Im really not all that interested in working in the ER. Would I have to do the bad work before Labor & Delivery would even consider me? I currently work as a Pharmacy Technician, and I hate my job. I get barely any hours, and I do not feel that I am paid enough for the hard work that I do. What hours/pay can I expect as both an LPN and RN? I am struggling constantly right now. I do not get paid enough at all. I can barely pay my rent, barely afford gas, and I have a son I need to take care of. Im not busting my butt for much longer at a dead end job. Labor & Delivery is where I want to be. Please, if you are a nurse, shed some light for me! One last thing, I have looked at practice NCLEX-RN, and honestly, it scares me! I know I have had no study in the field, but from what I have seen, they are fairly simple questions, with mostly all correct answers, and you have to decipher which is the best for the patient. Is the test as hard as it looks? How far in advance should I start studying for it? Thanks in advance for your time!

I have an appt with a college adviser wednesday about the courses I have to take. Im just wandering how long it will take to earn that degree? I know certain jobs do not hire graduates of an online course, but would it really matter as long as you passed the NCLEX. Any input would be helpful
moreResolved Question: Are online colleges legit?
I'm currently 24 weeks pregnant, and I want to look into college. I'm probably going to wait till after my baby is born before starting, but I would love to get it at my own pace, and at least take some classes at home online so that I can spend time with my child.
I want to get an education so I can give my baby the life I never had.
I've read that the degrees that you can get online aren't considered an actual degree. Is this true?
Are there any online college courses for LPN/RNs that ARE legit?
Any information would be great :)I was wanting to get into college right after hes born, I want to be around as much as I can when hes first born so he isn't attached to someone else thinking they are his parents.. Thats my reason for wanting online college right after hes born. Two years in, he'll know that I'm his momma.

moreVoting Question: How do I become an RN with a bachelor of science in health science degree?
I have changed my major from teaching to the bachelor of science in health science. I ultimately would like to become a RN. Because I work full time (and I make more money than my husband) I am not able to attend a regular college at this point in time. What I am attempting to do is to complete the BSH degree online and then do some type of a bridging course to become a nurse. I think I will have to get my first aid cert, then CNA certification (I found a place that offers night classes for six weeks for that certification), and thats where I am stuck. With a BSH degree will I have to go back to college to become an LVN/LPN? And then I know I will have to do so many hours as a LVN/LPN before I can get certified as an RN. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me their understanding of how this all works. I am from South Africa originally and am just learning how the whole nursing field works here. I live in Georgia if that helps :)
Thank you :)
moreVoting Question: Anybody know of any online LPN courses?

moreResolved Question: How can I become an RN? OMG!!! I really want this!?
Ok... Here's the DEAL MAN!! I wanna earn my Associates to become an RN or at least to become a LPN/LVN. But the problem is I work full time and I'm a single Mom.
I was very close to becoming a Sheriff Deputy. Cause of my ex husband ruining my credit they separated me till I was able to clear it out. (He max all our credit cards on the woman he was having an affair with...long story)
Anyway! I've decided that I wanna be a nurse! But OMG! It's seems like I would have to quit my job. I can't do that cause I need income for me and my 2 children. I have searched endlessly to find a school that would offer night classes and /or weekend.
But is there any Online courses that I can take and perhaps on the weekends or night do my clinical???
Honestly... I just need to do something to start making decent money to provide for my kids.
Ugh... Any suggestions will be appreciated!
P.s. AND NO! I WILL NOT BE A STRIPPER! ALL MY GUY FRIENDS ARE SAYING THAT!
moreResolved Question: I REALLY want to go back to school to get my LPN!!?
i am a single mother of a 3 year old and i work full time at a doctors office. i graduated in 2006 as a medical transcriptionist, certificate only. i attended LPN school before that but had to switch to med. transcription because i was pregnant and it would not take as long for me to finish med trans. my questions are:
- Can i still apply for a pell grant if i have already used one, back in 2006?
- If i can, i have to use last years tax return, but that was me working 40 hours a week. Will i be able to qualify for it, even though my hours might be cut in half now? i still have to work. i may have to take online courses and night classes-- which will mean i will need a sitter at night.
- Are their any other grants or scholarships i can obtain that will help out with bills, childcare?
Thanks in advance

I am a 25 year old mother of three looking to become a nurse, I would like to go the LPN way first because from what I've read, it only takes two years. I have a few questions and appreciate any advice.
Is there any way this degree can be done online except for clinicals?
What are some good schools in the south central PA area for nursing, and how much do they cost?
What are the differences in education requirements for LPN, LVN and ADN?
I've heard the LVN requires only one year? Is this true and where is this offered?
Also, I have some college credits from around 2001, just general courses, how hard would these be to transfer, if even possible?
Thanks, I really appreciate any advice.

moreResolved Question: Has anyone used or is familiar with The College Network (online courses)?
I am an LPN trying to earn my BSN through The College Network partnered with Indiana State University. I would really love any feedback regarding this, or any online program that anyone has had experience with. Thanks!
.
I know the college network is not a school nor do they award degrees, but provides module study guides in order to 'test out' for the pre-req's, then my credits will be applied to the BSN program at ISU for completion of the degree program there inculuding the final nursing courses and clinicals. The question I am asking is if anyone out there has used this method, is it reputable, is it professional, etc? Is The College Network reputable? Reliable? I plan to contact my state board of nursing tomorrow and see if they have any information as well. Just want to see if anyone else has used this method!!

moreResolved Question: What is a great 2 yr (associate degree) that makes good money, is in need, and isnt too physically demanding?
I want to own my own business after all, but can I do that with an associate degree? If so, my colleges nearby dont offer an associate in business (would it be best to get business management...or is there some kind of general business degree?) . I would have to do classes online and someone said that all (esp university of "state") colleges offer online courses...is that true?
If this isnt a good degree, what about RN or dental hygiene or something like that? I seen a lot of degree programs where you have to do LPN for 1 1/2 year...then RN for another year or so.... and 1 1/2 years for dental hygienist. Are all colleges like that??
What are the top jobs that make good money, require 2 yrs or less of college, and are most needed/or most projected to grow?

moreResolved Question: LPN to BSN questions?
Has anyone ever gone thru an online college to go from LPN to BSN?? I've been an LPN for almost 7 years and the college I went thru was non-accredited. Would this present a problem? Since my spouse is in the navy, I am considering going online vs. a university where we live since we move around a lot. I did take some pre-req's towards my RN (psych 1&2, Algebra, Comp. 1 & 2) but it has been almost 8 years since that, and I'm not for sure if those courses are still valid. Those courses were taken at an accredited college, but I think I read somewhere long time ago, that they are only good for 5 years, and if it's been over, you would have to retake them. Idk, maybe it varies college to college. So, If anyone has personal experience going from LPN to BSN, I would love any tips, advice and info!!!!
moreResolved Question: Which health program should I go for?
I'm attending a university now and I hate it so I started looking into programs that were less than 3 years. Let me say now I do not want to be a RN. I've looked at several different community colleges and I've got quite a few options for programs:
LPN, Respiratory Therapist, Occupational Therapist Assistant, Physical Therapist Assistant, Dental Assistant, and an online Sonography course.
I'm looking at a few factors in deciding: length of program, difficulty of program/job, pay of job, job availability.
Any and all INTELLIGENT opinions are welcome =)Clearly I need to add more details.
I just want a job that I can go to school for a short period of time and make at least 32,000-40,000 to start, or close to it. I do not like business, and not big on technology. And truth be told, I'm really more of a creative person, creative writing, reading, art, but those aren't really options for a career. I'd love to be a floral designer or wedding planner, but there's not a good market or career possibility for those unless you own your own business. There's a community college in Michigan, Jackson Community College, and it offers a completely online sonography program.
