Lpn Schools In Nj Questions asked
Voting Question: "Do You Suppose.. That With This Economy and Jobs being hard to obtain may be why women choose nursing?>>"?
I was wondering.. this for awhile now.. I heard John Tesh.. on the radio announcing with the Economy in such a mess.. with the job situation that women would be smart to choose either nursing or teaching where there are an abundance of jobs and needs for. I would think with all these national disasters now.. especially nursing.. But.. is it okay to take on nursing to be able to support ones self an not be homeless? I suppose..... I use to think differen't .. I use to think.. I wanted to choose an area to be happy at my job.. however.. those jobs/careers with the economy/recession are most hard to find. Choices are slim due to paying for our expenses... homes etc. Many women today are self supporting with kids.. as well.. as alone. So... is it wrong to choose based on the economy one of these two areas..... Which would you choose and why? Also the time it takes to complete can be a deterent. I was thinking of LPN .. although.. I would prefer to work in a Drs. Office. If I were a lot .. younger teaching would be my first choice.. because they get pensions.. and its a more fun job..however at 45... I can't afford with one income to return to College full time.. for 4-5 years.. or 9 part time. I have to make money to be able to live and buy a home before I die. Please Help. I also read that Medical Assistant do as much and get paid a lot less then LPNs.. and most LPNs are not hired to work in Drs. Office. So.. whats a 45 year old woman to do? Thank You So.... much.. I did read one RN saying to go for LPN which takes one year full time.. By the way.. My Best Friend who lives in NJ is a RN and a straight A student and she said RN schoo was a nightmare in being hard.. and the job is not any easier as an RN who has to over see CNAs and LPNS.. LPNs.. have less time in school and start out at 17.00 an hour.. What Do You All Think?

moreResolved Question: Would you tell your young adult to pay rent?
I have been looking for another job for over a year. I have applied to over 50 jobs multiple times. I have gotten called back 3 times last year and 2.5 times this year. I work at grocery store and I've been there since September 2008. My job is in another state NW Philly. I live in Camden, NJ. I spend most of my cash on transportation and my cell phone bill. I usually get to keep $20-30 to myself. I am in school, too and the only time I have free flowing cash is during the winter and I bought winter clothes like boots and coats. I only had summer clothes. I don't ask for nothing but to sleep on her floor and eat make some cereal or juice. I even gave the household my discount card. All I am trying to do is move back to Philly after getting a job. Then she gets mad that I go and buy food for me. Then she ask me for $60. She says I can spare it. She is the one who makes $18 an hour and has to option of working over 40 hrs a week as an LPN. I don't. Sorry for ranting but I need some opinions on this.I make $95 a week! I spend $153 on transportation. I don't ask for money unless I need to and I know I am going to pay it back. I am in school. I want to pay my own bills and be independent. I cry every night. I am at the point where I am about to give up on trying to make my life better. I don't wanna be another hood chick.

moreResolved Question: New Jersey Licensed LPN wants to move to Atlanta Georgia. Help?
My wife and I want to move down to Ga. I am a NJ Licensed LPN and want my Licensed to be endorsed to a Georgian License. I called the Georgia Board of Nursing and was told that "in order to qualify one has to have 1400 hours completed of schooling". However, in NJ we only complete 1252 hours. Has anyone (LPN) moved down to Georgia and got their LPN Licensed endorsed there? What are the procedures? I don't want to take a chance and apply for this transfer, pay over $100, knowing that my request might just be denied. Thanks for your time.I have been told I need to complete the hours for the requirements but how and where?
moreResolved Question: Have any of you done serious long distance relationships (fiance/husband/wife) due to college?
NOTE: I'm not talking about bf/gf relationships where you leave each other when you graduate highschool...I'm referring to this on more of a serious level.
I'm trying to get into Nursing school and it is HARD to get into it in NYC. So my other options were PA, NJ, CT, or anywhere within 3-4 hours of here. My idea is, I wouldn't be able to see my soon-to-be husband from M-F since he will have work and I will be in school..but we would be able to spend weekends with each other. Things would be like this for about 18 months if I get into the RN program...only about 12 months if I get into an LPN program.
Have any of you been able to do something like this with your husband/wife?I feel like, if you love someone enough, why would living 3 hours away kill your relationship you know? Esp. since we both know it's for my education and I will be able to get a job once I am finished...the economy is so bad now that both of us have barely gotten any work.
moreResolved Question: Fraudulent LPN nursing school in NY-NJ area...?
A few months ago I saw something on the news about a nursing school in New York (or maybe New Jersey) that was not licensed by the state. The school was charging students thousands of dollars. After studying, students found out that the school was not accredited, and they would not be allowed to take the exam for Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs).
What was the name of the school? Can you provide me a link to the story?
moreResolved Question: Can someone tell me what I can do to become an RN?
I have been in community college taking my pre-reqs for 2 plus years for RN. I am almost done when next semester when I complete my Math. But I have taken all pre-reqs. I have had alot of trouble with Chemistry, Math, Microbiology and have failed some which have brought down my GPA. Some of my grades haven't been great due to having 2 children, working and maintaining 14 credits. I failed the NET test at one of the hospitals I was going to transfer to. I'm having a hard time finding a school which most require a GPA that's 3.0 or higher. I'm in north NJ and need to transfer to start my nursing career already. This is what my passion is for and my dream. I love the medical field, I'm a medical assistant. I was wondering if someone knows what I can do to transfer somewhere. I was thinking maybe getting my Associates degree but that would mean I'd be in my school for another year or so. Then I would just be able to enter the RN program without any pre-reqs. Or go to an LPN school to bridge to an RN program which takes the same amount of time as the RN. I would have to retake the NET test again and make sure I pass this time. Does anyone have any suggestions that knows this field. Thanks.
moreResolved Question: Becoming a nurse, where do i start?
My Wife wants to become a nurse. She is 21 years old. We live in New Jersey. I think the process is to get an associates degree from a community college and then transfer to work towards a 4 year degree in a state school. However... looking online at Bergen Community College where she already has about 16 credits, it says all nursing applicants for the A.A.S evening program need to have a valid NJ LPN license. (legal practical nurse)
How does she first obtain this? If i am wrong on the steps, please advise me.
Thank you,Yes are we talking community college... im sure with a high school diploma and a few credits she can't go straight into nursing school?

moreVoting Question: Whats up with waiting lists to get into Nursing School (RN)?
I want to apply to nursing school next semester after I finish all necessary prerequisites, but I hear the waiting list to all local schools is atleast 2 years? Anyone else live in NJ/PA that can advise? I have a high GPA, and I wonder if I will be placed on a waiting list also? Everyone keeps giving conflicting answers.
I was considering becoming an LPN in the meantime, and get experience. I figured even if I get into RN school in the next year, it still takes like 2 years of nursing school before I would become an RN?
Any advise? Thanks!!!

moreResolved Question: What NJ school doesn't require a SAT more than 950 for a BSN program requirement?
I just finished my lpn program in NJ and now want to advance and take the BSN program. It doesn't matter if I take the 4 year or accelerated program. The problem is, most colleges and universities that I've looked through required a SAT score of at least 1000. I only acquired 950 when I was in high school so it counts me out on all the schools I've seen so far. I don't trust the online schools. Does anyone know where else I can go?
moreResolved Question: graduated as a LPN in NJ cant find a job?
I passed my boards July 2007, applied all over, everybody wants a years experience. My school does not offer job assistance. I did work briefly in a drs office as a medical assistant, but the pay was so awful (9.75 per hour) and no benefits, that is why I went to school to become an LPN to make at least 20.00 an hour. some of my fellow graduates are in the same boat others who got jobs disappeared, its so competitive no one shares job leads All the agencies temp or contract also want 1 years experience. Im also Male and wonder if that is a problem. Seems there is no shortages of nurses anymore. I went to the Dept of labor and they told me you can't believe everything you read, most of the stated info on the web is over 2 years old. Can anyone give me some good advice? I cannot leave NJ its not an option for me.Note: have applied to all the nursing homes, hospitals and clinics, hospice, anything medical I have applied for. they all want 1 year experience. that seems to be the problem
