Lpn To Rn Fast Track Questions asked

Resolved Question: I want to go to college, but I have no intention of working. Do...?

I am recieving grants for college, and am currently finishing up my LPN and plan to fast track to RN, then study for labor and delivery and possibly work for 6 months. Then I intend raise a family as a stay at home mom. When I tell people this they think its stupid and dont know why I should even go to college then. My whole reason is 1. I might want to work when my children are in school and 2. I LOVE learning, am fascinated by medicine and childbirth pretty much all the stuff I'd be learning about. I love watching mystery diagnosis, the untold stories of the ER, and reading about all kinds of rare disorders, and I've read every book out there on conception, pregnancy, childbirth, child psychology, all of that, and I'm taking early childhood development classes. I just LOVE all that stuff and want to learn more, and I think it would help me be a more educated better mom. Is it really a waste? more

Resolved Question: Feeling sort of "ashamed" about this nursing program?

I'm not trying to insult anyone but I just have this huge weight over me. I just turned 22, I was in a top health science school... in the nursing program. I was always a top student in high school and I did really well 1st and 2nd yr of university...then things started going downhill. Things at home really got horrible and nothing was working out. My grads really dropped... so as a result I had to leave the program. Almost all my university friends graduated and are now RNs. I'm constantly thinking "what if" even though I know I shouldn't be living int he past. I want to be an RN so I'm taking the steps to do so. I am enrolled in the RPN (2 yr college/university program kind of like the LPN) starting september.... I know I should be thankful that I got early acceptance since it is a very competitive program... I just can't get over how big of a drop it is. My plan is to get the best marks possible... since I do have 3 yrs of the BScN program (all my notes and textbooks) Then eventually fast track through the RPN-RN program As an RN student I always heard things about "rpns(lpns) this rpns that" I am sort of ashamed to tell people now I'm in a college going for this program... I don't know what I'm suppose to think. more

Resolved Question: Can someone please give me some advice... I'm really stressed out with this whole LPN vs RN thing?

First off, I live in Canada so our RPN which is your (the US) LPN is 2 years of a college/university joint program. I was in the nursing program at the top health science university here. In my 3rd year... things really went down hill. My marks really dropped and everything at home was really unbearable. So I took a year off. I spoke to the nursing stuff at the university and she suggested maybe fast tracking through the RPN(LPN) program then branching to RN (BScN). Which would allow me to work part time and pay off some of my student loans. I could have transferred nursing schools (RN, BScN) ..to another city but it was way too expensive to live there. Everything is just really stressful. It's all i think about. I will be starting the RPN (LPN) program in Sept. and I feel sorta of weird... I hear things about LPNs and how RNs think they're worthless and just really discouraging things. All my friends from university are now RNs and I'm starting the LPN program.... it is a huge hit. I know I'm doing this all to have the end result of being an RN and I should be thankful... but........... I just keep beating myself up because of how close I was more

Resolved Question: best job with no degree?

I have no degree, I would like to take classes at a local community college for a certificate program. What is the best route for that. I have a FT job & 3 young children so going to college for 2+ years right now is just not the best option for me. I am looking for a quick start for a decent job to hold me till I am able to start taking classes towards an actual degree. I would prefer something in the health field, as eventually I would like to be an RN. I do not want to be a CNA, not enough money & the LPN programs in my area are all 8 hour days & like I mentioned before I have a FT job that I am working at this moment. Any other fast track certificate programs? Thank you for your help!please don't answer if you are going to give me an ignorant answer, like the first responses so far. If you can't offer anything helpful, then please don't give a response. I have a FT job right now, making a lot more than a McDonald's worker, so getting smart at the mouth telling me to go work at McDonald's is ridiculous. Please give me a serious answer only. more

Resolved Question: LPN - (with BS and MA in another field) - What is the best way to get a BSN from here?

Hi - I am currently enrolled in a fast-track (10 month) LPN program. I already have my BS and MA in another field.. I plan to get my BSN in Nursing, and would like to know the fastest way to go about this after receiving my LPN. (I already know that many people think the LPN is a step backwards for someone who already has a college degree. I have even heard this from my instructors. I feel that I need to justify my decision - for me it was the quick 10 months to the end goal - nursing. I would be able to work while pursuing my RN. Also, the cost of the program was affordable.) So, all that left aside.. what is the best next step? Also, I am in Massachusetts, so if anyone has any advice particularly relevant to Mass, that would be hugely helpful! Thanks!! more

Resolved Question: Your thoughts on LPN vs. RN programs?

Heres the issue : I already obtained my bachelors degree and want to pursue nursing. I am looking at a LPN program then after that I can take a LPN to BSN program. Or do I just go for the RN program and go to school for another 3 years full time. I also looked at fast-tracked BSN programs since I already have some of the classes, but those are two expense and can not work cause its all day every day for 15 months. I need to work and am getting married soon. I don't know how I am going to start school full-time, work full-time and try to plan a wedding? I need your advice- Thanks more

Resolved Question: Looking at nursing programs and wondering about your experiences?

I have been looking at two different programs, one an RN program, the other an LPN program. I was just wondering what different people have experience with. The thing is, the RN program is at a school that is nearly an hour away, and the LPN program is much closer to my home. Also, the RN program has the availability of completing the program on a fast track if you are already an LPN. Would it be worth it to do the LPN program then transfer to save myself the commute, or should I just go straight for the RN program from the start? I've definately got a lot more research to do, and plan on talking to people from both schools, but I'm looking for some other input. Thanks! more
