Lpn To Rn Georgia Questions asked

Voting Question: How do I become an RN with a bachelor of science in health science degree?

I have changed my major from teaching to the bachelor of science in health science. I ultimately would like to become a RN. Because I work full time (and I make more money than my husband) I am not able to attend a regular college at this point in time. What I am attempting to do is to complete the BSH degree online and then do some type of a bridging course to become a nurse. I think I will have to get my first aid cert, then CNA certification (I found a place that offers night classes for six weeks for that certification), and thats where I am stuck. With a BSH degree will I have to go back to college to become an LVN/LPN? And then I know I will have to do so many hours as a LVN/LPN before I can get certified as an RN. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me their understanding of how this all works. I am from South Africa originally and am just learning how the whole nursing field works here. I live in Georgia if that helps :) Thank you :) more

Resolved Question: I want to become a Registered Nurse..?

Im 18, I graduated High School.. I Live in Atlanta Georgia and im really interested in becoming a RN. I Just dont know which schools would be best. My parents never went to college so.. they cant offer me much help on all my questions.. Im Kinda just having to figure everything out on my own. Ive been out of high school for almost a year now and i think ive wasted enough of my time, Lol :] Anyway, someone told me the Medix school here would be good. But i think they only train you to be a LPN. I was just wondering if anyone knew of some good schools. Maybe Georgia Perimeter college? Do they offer a Rn program? more

Resolved Question: HOW can I get a medical transcription job? I'm an LPN, graduated in May. Several weeks before graduation, I ?

found out I'm pregnant (unexpectedly) and due in March. I only went to LPN school to be able to bridge into RN school. It is difficult to get into RN school here in Georgia, and that was the best way for me. My Hus is an RN, but we can't live on ONLY what he makes. He can't get a day job in our area right now, so I can't work nights with our soon-to-be two kids. We've tried to sell our house and move, but the market is SO bad here. Anyway, LPNs are not in demand here. I got a job a week after graduation (very few in my class even HAVE a job), but they are cutting my hours in half because one of the doctors are leaving. Long story short, I need to use my transcription training I did before nursing school and stay home for about a year, but everyone wants 2-3 years experience. How do I get a job? I can't believe I'm trained to do two different jobs and can't even get an interview.I don't want to do any WAH jobs, except transcription. I don't have money to invest in anything else.I CAN'T get a job as an LPN. For one, I'm EXTREMELY pregnant and for two, "good" money for an LPN here is $15 an hour. I would be LOSING money with 2 in daycare. Relatives are hundreds of miles away and can't help.Once my son goes to Kindergarten, I will be able to afford to work away from home again. My job doesn't give paid maternity leave. I'm not going to be able to pay my house payment the month I give birth. If I could get a job in a hospital (which I can't and I have connections through my Hus) the pay would be $12.25 an hour. How am I starting a whole new career? I have only worked as an LPN for 10 weeks. more

Resolved Question: Can a nurse licensed in Georgia work in California?

My girlfriend and I are thinking about a move to the west coast. She is currently in school to be a LPN and wants to be a RN eventually. We need to know if she can work in Cali on her degree from Georgia, or if she will need extra classes, or if it would be better just to go on and start the program anew there. Any help, or direction to help would be greatly appreciated. more

Resolved Question: LPN questions....have a few....please read.?

I started LPN program this semester (my first time in college at age 27) I was ready for a career change, something that would always be needed and something that would make good money. After I get this certificate and work for about 6 months, I plan on going back to college and obtaining a RN. I have always wanted to get into the medical field but it took me a long time to finally do it. What I really want to do is work in the Maternity Ward and work with infants. Anyone with experience in this field, would this be a possibility to get on in that department or would I have to start out somewhere else? If so, how would I make it up the ladder? (I have heard LPN's is low on the todem pole, but I don't know) Also does LPN's make good money? For instance in Georgia what would be a reasonable hourly rate? Thanks for answering my wondering questions :-) more

Resolved Question: Does an NR EMT-Intermediate have a higher level of training than an LPN?

I know that by law in Georgia an EMT-I cannot sign over a patient to an LPN. The EMT-I must transfer his patient to an RN or Doctor. Most LPN programs seem to be longer & contain more credit hours than EMT-Intermediate programs but both are certificate programs. EMT-I in Georgia = about 9 months. LPN in Georgia about = 12-13 months. more
