Resolved Question: How long does it take for a LPN to go back to school to become an RN?
Someone told me that once you become an LPN you can then go back to school for 1 year to become an RN. Is this true? I thought that once you are an LPN you then will have to go back to school 2 years to become an RN. I would like only accurate answers please. If you do not know then i'd rather you not even respond to my question. moreResolved Question: What is the best way to start nursing school? Get LPN first or RN?
I have been accepted into Pre-health of a local community college, but there is no guarantee I will be able to get into the RN program there. Should I try for my LPN first and then transition into the RN? What seems to work the best nowadays? Thanks to the nurses who know. moreVoting Question: take lpn classes then med school?

I'm 21..I know I got started late but I had a little sister to take care of and I couldn't go to school but now that she's older I can afford to go to a community college and then transfer to a university. I already took 2 pre-reqs already which was a reading lab and another connection to it but that's all I have so far! I'm going back January 12th when the semester starts and taking 4 more pre-reqs a day just 2 days a week because the other days I have work and watching my sister still ( only 7 now ) So anyway..It sucks that I started late and I feel bad but hey at least I'm only 21 and I have a few credits other than someone that is not going to school at all. So how long is it going to take to complete that if I have 2 pre reqs finished? And what do I do after the pre reqs are done? And what's the test and exams and stuff for the nursing program itself and is it hands on? I just wanna know what I'm getting into. My mom's a LPN. I want her to go back with me to become a RN as well. Thanks moreResolved Question: Should I go back to nursing school after failing? PLEASE READ!!!?
I'm a mother of 2 children, a wife, and an LPN already. I attempted RN school and failed 4th semester (out of 5). We pay my schooling out of pocket so money is not the problem, however, my husband seems to think I'll be wasting my time and money if I go back and fail again. I would have graduated this coming May (2009), but if I decide to return I won't graduate til May 2010. I'm 36 years old and my kids are 4& 5 years old. I know they need me too, but i'm looking ahead for our financial well being in case something was ever to happen, I will be able to take care of my family. It's been my life long goal to be a registered nurse, I just don't know if it wasn't meant for me to be one. My husband thinks I should just stay an LPN and work. I don't know what to do...............do I give up or try again? One more thing, I have horrible test anxiety, and it affects my test taking. I think that has a lot to do with my failure. Please help! moreResolved Question: Can someone tell me what I can do to become an RN?
I have been in community college taking my pre-reqs for 2 plus years for RN. I am almost done when next semester when I complete my Math. But I have taken all pre-reqs. I have had alot of trouble with Chemistry, Math, Microbiology and have failed some which have brought down my GPA. Some of my grades haven't been great due to having 2 children, working and maintaining 14 credits. I failed the NET test at one of the hospitals I was going to transfer to. I'm having a hard time finding a school which most require a GPA that's 3.0 or higher. I'm in north NJ and need to transfer to start my nursing career already. This is what my passion is for and my dream. I love the medical field, I'm a medical assistant. I was wondering if someone knows what I can do to transfer somewhere. I was thinking maybe getting my Associates degree but that would mean I'd be in my school for another year or so. Then I would just be able to enter the RN program without any pre-reqs. Or go to an LPN school to bridge to an RN program which takes the same amount of time as the RN. I would have to retake the NET test again and make sure I pass this time. Does anyone have any suggestions that knows this field. Thanks. moreResolved Question: nursing school from LPN to RN?

I am going to school for a RN and I have about 6 classes left before I am able to register for the nursing program. I have encountered 2 problems the first being that I have taken all the easy and quick classes in the beginning and is now left with the hard ones I have 3 biology classes an elective a math and a CNA to obtain. The second issue is that getting into the nursing program is hard it can take up to a few years possible. At this time I can't attend classes at this school because I owe them some money so I don't want to sit out for a semester so what should I do and which is the best method? I am looking for a response from either someone that is educated in this field has been there or is an RN please email me at yolanda1983@comcast.net Thank u moreResolved Question: Where do I start if I want to become a nurse?
I've always wanted to be a nurse but was never able to afford school. I'm 27 and I'm ready to be a nurse, pretty sure I want to be an RN, but not sure if I should start out as a LPN. I do know this is what I want to do, I am a people person and would love to work with children. I want to know where can I start that is the quickest and cheapest as I don't have a lot of time and am a single mother of a 3 year old. I'm in the Orlando, FL area. Thanks! moreVoting Question: for nursing program/school what makes more sense for me thanks?
so i signed up for a 4 year bsn nursing program i am a single mom and boy is it rough i have no support network here at all i have to work at night in a bar serving drinks or bartending its the only way i can do it all i finished all of my pre reqs for the nursing program and took the net now i have to wait to get into the program which can be 3 months or 9 months for me to wait to get in the 21 month program i am a massage therapist but it doesn't pay me and my sons bills so i am thinking of signing up for the one year lpn program which will be easier for me to finish and work in the bar then move closer to my friend who has kids my sons age as an lpn and then bridge over to an rn program. then i will be an lpn so have a real job as opposed to the floating bar and massage gigs a little more support network and possibly a better way to pay for the bridge program. tell me what you think makes more sense for me. thanks. sorry my shift button broken so i can not use caps and punctuation moreResolved Question: Nurses..please help...I'm thinking about becoming a nurse!?
i'm thinking of a career change. I've been in the beauty industry for a long time now and been thinking about becoming a nurse, but don't know how to start. i have no high school diploma, and no college credits or been to any college but except for beauty college( but that doesn't expand your knowlege about anything) I want to be a better person and that is why i'm thinking about being a nurse. what are the steps that i have to take? do you become a LPN first? and then go for your RN? is it better to go to a community college? how long does that take? do you have to take 2 year basic first also? I just want to be more then what I am and help people also, but just don't know where to start. Thanks to anyone who can help me!! moreResolved Question: I don't know what career to choose.Any suggestions?
So I'm 19 and I will be 20 in april and I still don't know what I want to do with my life. I've always liked art but I've never wanted a career in it because I don't think it's practical and I don't think I will make any money so I'm basically looking into the medical field I'm just so unsure of myself I was thinking about becoming and CNA or LPN I want to work in the hospital with babies that sounds so fun thing is that when I say that everyone says I shouldn't waste my time just go for RN but I've heard RN requires a lot of chemistry and biology but those are not my strongest points at all. I don't want to be in school forever either the longest I will go is 2, 2 1/2 yrs but nothing more I hate school to begin with and I would really hate to go to school for something and then not be able to find a job or just not want to pursue that career once I'm finished I think that is a huuuge waste of time I just want to do something fun that I will enjoy but most of the things that I find fun make no money whatsoever so I'm just stuck I don't want to hate my job I want something fun that I will enjoy also that will make me money I'm not asking to be filthy rich just have enough and with the recession and everything it just makes everything a lot more complicated I feel like I will never find what I want. What do I do? I don't want to work from home most of those little things are scam I want a real job. moreResolved Question: Should I go to school to be a Lpn or Occupational therapy assistant ?
Lpn is only one year. Cota would be two years. Which is better? I would probley continue after lpn to be an rn in a could of years. moreResolved Question: I would like to be an actress and have nursing as a backup plan?
I hate math. Not particularly interested in science either. Acting is my passion. Then writing. I am almost done with my first semester in college as a communications major. I only picked this major because I want write fiction; however, a degree in creative writng just doesnt seem as credible as communications. It would be cool to be a public speaker, but I dont want anything to do with journalism or reporting. I have to have a career that is hands on. But like I said, acting is my first passion and the whole waiting tables thing just isnt going to work out for me. I have expenses to be paid and I want to get my own apartment and be independent. Right now I live with my parents. I want a career as a night shift lpn then rn so I can pursue my other interests, any advice??? I also dont want to be in school for the next eight years. I have no idea what the hell I want to do with a communications degree that I cant do without it. Nursing is specific and pays well. Plus there are job oppurtunities out the ying yang! I am a passionate and friendly person so I have confidence that I can truely help people. Which I like the idea of helping people rather than catering (like at restaurants) to them anyday! moreResolved Question: Becoming an LPN. Your insight please. ?
My whole life it has been my dream to become a nurse. I have little to no money for school however. My plan is to go to school to become an LPN and work a few years doing this to gain experience and save more money to then get my associates to become an RN. I would love to be able to help people and my dream is to work in the medical field. Can anyone give me any insight on an LPNs job and responsibilites and if its something they gain satisfaction from. I just want to make sure Im not wasting my time with the LPN thing. Thanks. moreVoting Question: what can you do with an AA in psychology ?
Ok, so I went to school to become a medical assistant after high school, ( what a waste of Sallie Mae's money ) then after that I joined the Air Force and now i'm an Med-Evac technician. I love my job but currently i'm reserve and I want to stay that way and go back to school, here's the problem. I don't want to be an RN..or even an LPN. Love the field, but it's not what I want to do with my life. I want to be a social worker, or work in "mental" type of health field. I have a lot of credits and im thinking of turning them into an AA in Psychology, then later going for a Bach. in Social work. Will I have more open doors with an AA in psychology? or more money? I just need some in-put, Thanks ;) it's that bad of income? i mean, i really don't mind not making an excessive amount of income, as long as i'm well off. maybe an aa in psychology then finish up with a bachelors in social work and get commissioned instead of being enlisted. hmm. thinking out-loud. any thoughts? moreResolved Question: Am I making a good choice?
I am a 20 year old, very shy girl, who is still debating on what to go to college for. I have thought about cosmetology, and probably will go for it later on, but right now I would like to go for something with potential for stability. I would love dental hygiene, and it has been a dream of mine for years, but after speaking with a counselor at a nearby college, I'm afraid it would not be the wisest decision. I dropped out of school the last month of my senior year due to some very serious personal problems (I have my GED though), have an ACT score of 19, and have no experience in the dental field, and with it being so competitive, I'm sure I would not get accepted. I thought about LPN or RN, but those are very competitive to, and I just don't think I have the emotional stability for it. So I was thinking about Health Information Technology. Would this be a smart career path, with at least a bit more stability than most in the declining economy? moreResolved Question: Should I go straight for RN, or become an LPN first?
I am a sophomore in high school, and my junior and senior year I can go to a school called BOCES for half of the school day every day. When I graduate from high school, I will be an LPN. Should I do that, then go to college for an RN? Or should I not go to the school and focus on my regular schooling, then go to college for an RN? moreVoting Question: How do I become a nurse? ?
I am wanting to become an RN but in the least amount of time possible. I work full-time as does my husband. He is currently attending school full-time also. We also have a 2 year-old daughter. I am wanting to become and RN but don't know what is the best way to go about it. Can you do it online or do you have to take the classes on campus? Should I become an LPN then take the RN exam? Get an associates in nursing? Get a bachelor's in nursing? I don't know the difference between all these degrees or which one would be best for me. moreResolved Question: HOW can I get a medical transcription job? I'm an LPN, graduated in May. Several weeks before graduation, I ?
found out I'm pregnant (unexpectedly) and due in March. I only went to LPN school to be able to bridge into RN school. It is difficult to get into RN school here in Georgia, and that was the best way for me. My Hus is an RN, but we can't live on ONLY what he makes. He can't get a day job in our area right now, so I can't work nights with our soon-to-be two kids. We've tried to sell our house and move, but the market is SO bad here. Anyway, LPNs are not in demand here. I got a job a week after graduation (very few in my class even HAVE a job), but they are cutting my hours in half because one of the doctors are leaving. Long story short, I need to use my transcription training I did before nursing school and stay home for about a year, but everyone wants 2-3 years experience. How do I get a job? I can't believe I'm trained to do two different jobs and can't even get an interview. I don't want to do any WAH jobs, except transcription. I don't have money to invest in anything else. I CAN'T get a job as an LPN. For one, I'm EXTREMELY pregnant and for two, "good" money for an LPN here is $15 an hour. I would be LOSING money with 2 in daycare. Relatives are hundreds of miles away and can't help. Once my son goes to Kindergarten, I will be able to afford to work away from home again. My job doesn't give paid maternity leave. I'm not going to be able to pay my house payment the month I give birth. If I could get a job in a hospital (which I can't and I have connections through my Hus) the pay would be $12.25 an hour. How am I starting a whole new career? I have only worked as an LPN for 10 weeks. moreResolved Question: I want to be an lpn or rn but how do I do that when I can't afford to not work full time while going to school?

I'm really interested in Nursing , it seems exciting to me I love watching shows like Trauma and True stories of the ER and I very much want to go into nursing. Whats the big differences, and with either of these, can I take the RN test? moreResolved Question: Accelerated second degree in nursing (BSN) - what are the best schools for that in Michigan?
I'm about to graduate with a bachelor of science in health care administration. I've always been interested in nursing, though. If anyone knows about associates degrees in nursing that would be great too. As long as it's a program that allows you to be a RN, not a LPN, and has a reputation for 95%+ success rates on the NCLEX-RN. moreResolved Question: Any RNs and/or LPNs around here?

I live near Raleigh so I need a community college, and I would need a college that could work with my schedule... thanks for any help. moreResolved Question: LPN/RN question! HELP?
Okay, well i'm currently attending college for nursing. For my LPN degree it would take about a year and a half, but for RN around 4 years. I'm at a point in my life where I want to move out of my parents house, get a new car, and start a life of my own. But the only problem is I can't do all that while being in school for 4+ years, so I was thinking about getting my LPN degree, make sure that's what I really want to do with my life, and then go back for my RN later. I realize that LPNs aren't really common in hospitals anymore, but I don't want to work in a hospital, my goal is to work in a pediatrics office. My parents on the other hand don't think this is a good idea and think that I should go for my RN right away. Any advice? I am at a community college and it says its a 2 year degree but really it turns out to be 4 because they require a lot of pre-reqs that are pointless such as a bunch of electives,gym,speech,2 english classes,2 math classes,3 levels of anatomy, psych, abnormal psych, sociology moreResolved Question: nursing home scholarship?

Here's the story I started my undergrad degree as a pre-nursing student for a BSN program. I was placed on a waiting list and got discouraged and changed my major to Health Science. I graduated with the Health Science degree with no jobs available. Now I am trying to decide if I should go back to Nursing at the local technical school or get my Masters in Education were I got my Bachelor Degree? I do not know why my heart is telling me to go back and try nursing but then I am afraid of it not working out and wishing I had of went back for my Masters. What would you do if you had prenursing classes done although they are about 4-5 years old but would be accepted at the local schools for nursing? Would you get into a nursing program using those classes or take the classes over and do nursing or would you move on and get a Masters in something else like Education? Thanks for responding everyone. I am basically afraid that my pre-nursing courses like a&p1/2, micro, etc from 4 years ago is not as fresh in my mind today as it was 4 years ago. Therefore, I am conflicted with trying to try nursing again or just move on with a masters in teaching. moreResolved Question: To get a Masters in Education or Become a LPN/RN?
I was so excited to be going to nursing school next year to get my LPN but now have been told it isnt worth it. People are telling me I will only make 9$ or so an hour. I'm also upset because I am told if I want to become an RN it will take another 4 years? I thought it would be shorter since I would already be an LPN. I guess what I am asking for is any advice from current LPNS or nurses. I dont mind being an LPN, but I want to be needed and appreciated too. moreResolved Question: What is the difference between an LPN and an RN. And How long does schooling take for either one?
moreResolved Question: LPN? RN? Currently in school working on my pre reqs for A.A.S. Nursing?
Hi, Im writing because I am currently working on my first semester in college. Taking Math, Biology, Socology and English... all beginners courses, I got my midterm grades today and Ive got B- in math, B- in sociology and a C+ in Biology and Im very dissappointed. Im busting my but and apparently im just not A student material. Anyhow; Ive been told by many that its very hard to get into the program if your not an A student so Im wondering if there is anyone out there whom took the LPN to RN route and how much longer does it take... Im still going for my RN but I figure if Im waiting a year or so I may as well go for LPN if its not much longer. Ive been told that they reserve spots for LPN's in the RN program... ADVICE PLEASE... preferably from people who have taken this route or maybe even teachers... I could really use the help! Thanks for the answers... Just a little more info, My bio teacher said Im doing well and if I keep up the work Im doing now it will bring my grade to a B. SO Im probably looking at just about all B's! Is this good being I dropped out in 9th grade 5 rs ago and just got my GED in June 08? Im still learning how o study and everything because I dont really have any experience with it! Im also waiting for my english grade to be posted but my professo said that Im doing very well today! ( Nursing is the only thing I want to do) Ive thought about other opps. moreTop Lpn To Rn Schools Links
