Lpn To Rn Transition Programs Questions asked

Resolved Question: Would it be easier to get accepted into an LPN program or RN program?

Its very competitive to try getting accepted into an RN program. Would an LPN program be easier to get into to? And then after that I could transition into an RN program. How hard would it be to get into a LPN to RN transition program in Indiana once I get my LPN? more

Resolved Question: I need some advice LPN or RN?

Hello, I am at a point in my life that I really don't know where to go from here, and I'm looking for some counseling and help. I am trying to obtain my RN (2 year) at my local community college but it seems so hard to get accepted. I have completed all my pre-req's but don't have the grades( I guess to get accepted). My science's GPA is like 2.9. I got a C in CHM, B in A & P I and a C in A & P II. yeah . So I'm still going to apply for the May 2010 Generic program and see what happens. But if I don't get accepted, which most likely I will with those grades, I was thinking of going via LPN be done with it in 12 months and then apply to the LPN/RN transition program. BUt what I really want to know if I obtain my LPN licence will they overlook at my C's in CHM and A &P II and a few W's that I got ? and get accepted right into the RN program? Please help me with this. If there are any nurses out there that is reading my post. what will you do in my position? do I continue to apply at different RN programs or just go LPN? Thanks so much for your advise. more

Resolved Question: How many years is the transition from LPN to RN?

RIght out of high school I went straight into working to get into the nursing program. All the programs here are VERY competitive and it's a known fact that one of the RN programs here will "weed you out" if they don't think you're a good student for their program. My initial plan was to get an AA transfer degree and go to a university to get my BSN. Well, I ended up getting my transfer degree, finishing all my pre-reqs, went to school and get my CNA, worked for one for years, and also was a nursing unit volnteer at a hospital for about 2 years. I've gotten rejected to many schools and now LPN is my last option. I would be more than grateful to get in but thing is, it's a part time/hybrid program so it will take 2 years. Good thing is, it's not as crazy as those RN programs that try to shove down all the info on you and stress you out. If this LPN program takes 2 years to finish, would it take another year to complete (and transfer) into an RN program? And additional year for a BSN? would it be 4 years total?Oh, i finished high school 5 years ago more

Resolved Question: Is there a school that offers a transition program from LPN to RN?

i already have an LPN license in the state of florida, Im going home to the philippines and im looking for a school that offers a transition program from LPN to RN. Would you know if there are any? more

Resolved Question: Does this sound like a good plan for the situation I'm in regarding going to nursing school?

Ok.First I'm married with 2 kids.My husband had a good job and I stayed home with the kids(they're both in elementary school). When winter approached and the economy slowed down my husband's work did too.I only have a high school diploma and it doesn't seem to mean much these days as far as me finding work.I'm currently taking the CNA class and if I pass my state test and get licensed I plan on putting in job applications so I can work because we need the money. There is a LPN program that will be taking applications in May and if I get accepted there I can start in September '09.I want to be an RN and one school I checked with who has a RN program won't take applications till August and if I get in (after completing the prerequisites) the classes won't start till I think like fall of 2010.I don't want to wait that long before starting nursing school. So I figure if I become a CNA so I can work. Then if I get accepted to the LPN program (and we can make it on my husband's income )I can become a LPN and go to work and then transition later to a RN.The other school I mentioned also has a LPN transition to RN program.Does this sound like a decent plan?Ideally I wish I could just get into a RN program and finish in 2yrs but we need more income so I may have to rotate work and school till I get where I want to be.Also my husband may change careers and I'll need to have a decent job for us to make it for him to be able to go to school. Please no Tom Bosworth answers or anything like that.I know the plan isn't perfect but I need to work to help us financially. It may take me longer than most to get to be an RN but I can't help that right now.I just figure I could take the LPN course(if I get in)sooner(and get a better paying job) rather than wait longer for the RN program. more

Resolved Question: Where/How do I study for the Nurse Entrance Test?

Right now I'm taking the CNA class so I can work because we need the money and till I get into a nursing program.I'm trying to decide if I want to do the LPN program first and transition to RN later(guess it depends on which one I get accepted into).I want to become a RN ultimately. Is there a book or website that I can go to help me study so I can pass the NET? more

Resolved Question: What is the best way to start nursing school? Get LPN first or RN?

I have been accepted into Pre-health of a local community college, but there is no guarantee I will be able to get into the RN program there. Should I try for my LPN first and then transition into the RN? What seems to work the best nowadays? Thanks to the nurses who know. more

Resolved Question: Going to school to be a LPN, should I go for the transition program to Rn or go straight to the BSN program?

I'm attending a techinical school in September to become an LPN. I've purchased the necessary textbooks and have taken out loans for this school. So my question is should I attend the transtition program to become an RN once I graduate or should I go straight to getting my BSN? Is there such a thing?? I've heard of RN transtitioning to BSN, but not LPN's. I would love to become an administrator But I'm confused on the steps that are needed to get there. Should I work as an LPN at a hospital or nursing home and have them pay for me to continue school? I'm soo confused about what my next step should be. Any help would be really helpful. 10 points to the person that responds with the best answer. Thanks in advance. more

Resolved Question: Nursing school I have 2 options?

I am going to be going to school for Nursing a seminole CC in Florida. However, we are currently living in MN where my boyfriend is going to school for non-destructive testing. So we will be back in FL (where we are from) in about a year. I will apply to the nursing program prior to moving back. Resolved Question: Hoew do I juggle full time work, single parenthood and part time college without going crazy?

Work full time as an LPN, am a single mom to 2 children and go to college part-time. I am working on my Registered Nursing degree. I only have 5 more prereqs, then I can do the LPN to RN transition program (only 2 semesters of clinicals) through our local community college. Right now I am only working on the Associates RN, but have considered my Bachelors. Any suggestions on how to pull it all off? I mean, go about all of this faster? Can't handle full time classes and work full time. I still need to work to pay bills and I still need time for my children. What do you think about on-line classes? I have heard of Rue and the University of Phoenix. Don't know much about either, or if they are recognized in Virginia. I have heard that I can do alot at home in my spare time, while still working and be with my kids. I could apply for pell grants or maybe something else. Filed married last year, am now in process of divorce, put me in a higher tax bracket. Don't know if I qualify. more

Resolved Question: I just flunked nursing school. Help me to get it together.?

I was in my last semester and failed. I was in my last semester about 8 wks shy of graduation and I failed clinical. It had always been lecture and not clinical. This time, it was clinical and not lecture I flunked. Since I have gone so far and can't go back to this school, I will challenge for my LPN license because this was an RN curriculum. I can use the LPN to transition to RN but it takes so long to get in school. I'm 48; I'm getting aggravated. I can't afford to not work again for another program and I am thinking about online nursing since I have gone so far. If you know a route I can take that would be beneficial or know anything about taking on-line nursing please let guide me. I would greatly appreciate it.This was an associate degree program already. Thanks for your help doc. That's Doc with a capital "D" Thank you more

I am unsure if I should do the LPN and then do the transition into RN or should I just go straight thru to the RN program? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Or can you go straight into RN? Most schools have "LPN to RN" transition programs, but can you just take your basic classes and then take RN courses and become an RN if you have no intention of being an LPN? more
