Open Question: HOW TO BECOME A PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT IN SEATTLE?
I have just finished up all my college prerequisites for PA school and am planning on applying to UW and going to Yakima, WA campus to do the Bachelors program. Now I was wondering, if anyone can advise me ON what is the best experience to gather for the patient-care part of the PA program. Medical Assistant, LPN, RN or CNA etc- Which Area will make me stick out when I apply and what kind of patient experience should I gather from any of these kind of entry programs without spending to much time or money on the technical course? I have heard surgical technicians have a better chance to getting into PA school, is this true? Any recent graduated physician assistants that have any advise? moreOpen Question: I'm planning to become a Practical Nurse in Philadelphia, however I don't know which school to attend.?
I'm thinking of going to school to become an LPN, however I can't find many options of schools to choose from. Does anyone know any good schools in Philadelphia, PA (or surrounding areas) for practical nursing? moreResolved Question: Please look at this question if you are a nurse?
Hi. My name is Rachael. I am about to turn sixteen and am starting to think about my future. I've been considering what type of profession I'd like to be in and have come to a conclusion- nursing. I am looking for someone who is a nurse for me to email. The reason i want to email you is so that i may ask many direct questions about the nursing field. However, if you are not comfortable posting your email address, here are a few questions i have. What types of nurses are there? ( RN, LPN, and PA.) Where can nurses work?(schools, hospitals, doctor's offices etc...) How much do you start out making? How many hours a week do you usually work? How much college is required? What are some of the responsibilities of nurses? Once again I would definately prefer to email you so that I may ask you more questions. Thank you. moreResolved Question: How much does an LPN (license pratical nurse) make on average? How long do courses take?

How long do courses take? working in a nursing home or a hospitol type of setting. and in like the New Jersey NY PA area i guess. and if i got into this feild, would it make it easier in my future if I wanted to work in the sonogram technician area meaning getting into schools and jobs. moreResolved Question: How much does an LPN (license pratical nurse) make on average?
working in a nursing home type of setting. and in like the New Jersey NY PA area i guess. and if i got into this feild, would it make it easier in my future if I wanted to work in the sonogram technician area meaning getting into schools and jobs.i mean to work in a nursing home. not working from home. moreResolved Question: Becoming a LPN in order to get into PA school?
I am currently finishing my last year at my local community college with a 4.0 GPA, and I have a desire to become a Physician’s Assistant. Once I finish, I am planning to transfer to a university and major in health studies or biology. However, the PA school that I would like to attend has a prerequisite of 1000 hours of hands on work related to health care. In order to get those hours, I am thinking about taking the year after I finishing getting my Associates off, and training to become a LPN. After, I would transfer to a university and complete my undergrad. I think that it would be better for me to become a LPN after community college so that I can work and finish the 1000 hours during my two years at a university. Do you think that this is a smart move or should I wait and complete all of my school before trying to achieve those 1000 hours? In addition, I am worried about becoming an LPN because I am a male and I know that it is uncommon for LPNs’ to be male’s. What is your opinion? moreResolved Question: Licensed Practical Nurse?
I recently started school for an LPN in Pennsylvania, However, I live in Ohio. I am not so sure about the licensing per state. I do know the licensure for PA is done within the state, but If I am wanting to transfer my lincensure over to Ohio, is it the same steps?? Just get licensed there, but send my transcript to the agency? Please Help moreVoting Question: SCHOOL SCHOOL SCHOOL!!! =/?

I'm not good at math, so I'm scared of failing. Any Lpns, can you please give me as much info on Lpns as you can. I live in PA(bucks county), so I was wondering if someone can tell me a good school to attend. What classes do i need to take? Is there prerequisites? moreResolved Question: Is nursing school a good option for me?
I've been a CNA for 15 years now. I'm 35, married to a good man, we do struggle with paying huge child support and just getting by day to day takes grit and skills. I know I would be in for a long road. Ultimately I would dream of being a PA in ob/gyn. Maybe just a dream but realizing stairstepping, LPN then RN then PA....what do you think? I recently took the TABE just to see and I scored well. I'd be the first to go to college on both sides of the fam. moreResolved Question: Physicians Assistant versus Nurse Practicioner. Which allows for more job opportunities prior to graduating?
Like many people, I am having a hard time deciding which route to go. I think the deciding factor might be which will give me the most job opportunities while I am still in school. With nursing, I would have the option to upgrade my job every two years. Going from LPN to a four year RN, to eventually an NP after 6 years. With a PA, what would be my options? It seems like you can't do anything after your Associates degree, your Bachelors of Science for Pre Med won't qualify you for anything, and I would be stuck waiting until after I was accepted and graduated from med school with a masters in Physicians Assisting before I could even get a job. I am currently a medical assistant, and know that I wouldn't be able to get by on this salary for 6 years until I could get my PA. But, if I went the nursing route, I could upgrade my title every two years and be getting paid better and have better job opportunities on my way to an NP. Does anybody have any advice on this or any guidance for me? Thank you. moreResolved Question: What is the average salary for a LPN?
This year I will start my prerqs to eventually become an LPN? I wanted to know what is the average salary for a LPN that is fresh out of school. I have been looking on salary website but they all give different wages so its hard to determine. I live in PA. Anybody have an idea? moreVoting Question: What is the average LPN salary?

NOTE: I'm not talking about bf/gf relationships where you leave each other when you graduate highschool...I'm referring to this on more of a serious level. I'm trying to get into Nursing school and it is HARD to get into it in NYC. So my other options were PA, NJ, CT, or anywhere within 3-4 hours of here. My idea is, I wouldn't be able to see my soon-to-be husband from M-F since he will have work and I will be in school..but we would be able to spend weekends with each other. Things would be like this for about 18 months if I get into the RN program...only about 12 months if I get into an LPN program. Have any of you been able to do something like this with your husband/wife?I feel like, if you love someone enough, why would living 3 hours away kill your relationship you know? Esp. since we both know it's for my education and I will be able to get a job once I am finished...the economy is so bad now that both of us have barely gotten any work. moreResolved Question: My aunt is no supporting my dreams of a career in healthcare, telling me college is a waste?

I am a 25 year old mother of three looking to become a nurse, I would like to go the LPN way first because from what I've read, it only takes two years. I have a few questions and appreciate any advice. Is there any way this degree can be done online except for clinicals? What are some good schools in the south central PA area for nursing, and how much do they cost? What are the differences in education requirements for LPN, LVN and ADN? I've heard the LVN requires only one year? Is this true and where is this offered? Also, I have some college credits from around 2001, just general courses, how hard would these be to transfer, if even possible? Thanks, I really appreciate any advice. moreResolved Question: Is it possible to get LPN school that cost less than $7500 a year in Pennsyvania, north carolina or any state ?

I want to apply to nursing school next semester after I finish all necessary prerequisites, but I hear the waiting list to all local schools is atleast 2 years? Anyone else live in NJ/PA that can advise? I have a high GPA, and I wonder if I will be placed on a waiting list also? Everyone keeps giving conflicting answers. I was considering becoming an LPN in the meantime, and get experience. I figured even if I get into RN school in the next year, it still takes like 2 years of nursing school before I would become an RN? Any advise? Thanks!!! moreResolved Question: Question about diploma and vocational schools.?
Okay long story but when i graduated when they handed me my diploma it was just a piece of paper stating it was being processed by the school board and it would be mailed to my parents address. That was in 2002 well my parents had moved and i moved also. I contacted the school board and they said i never took the Fcat/ hsct English part and i would have to do that first in order to receive it. after i graduated i moved to NC from FL and now im in pa. Does anyone know where i could go to obtain it? I read online you dont need a diploma to go to a community college. But i want to become a LPN. Will they accept me with no diploma? Can i do that online? Ive found a couple online.. But how do i go about taking the tests for acceptance online?! I just want to go back to school!! If i was to call a local community college what department would i speak to? Thanks ahead of time!! moreResolved Question: Patient Care Technician or LPN in New York City?
I'll be obtaining my Bachelors in Psychology next May. I want to obtain my Masters in a Physician Assistant program which requires direct-patient care experience for admission. Is the LPN profession better than Patient Care Technician when it comes to pay, workload and respect? I am currently enrolled in a CNA/PCT class and would like to know if I should bother pursuing my LPN license afterwards. I am contemplating signing up for a LPN program being sponsored at a local hospital which will begin in September 2009 - 2010. However, after the program is completed, I'll be required to work for years until 2012. While I would love the opportunity to provide care to patients in need, I am also concerned that starting PA school in/after 2012 is a long wait. I know this is long and I am grateful to anyone who takes the time to help. Greatly appreciated. moreResolved Question: Is there a place near Shippensburg PA, to go to school for CNA or LPN?

I am trying to decide if it would be worth the money I would pay in school loans to be a licensed practical nurse. I would love to be an RN but don't think I would be able to pass the math classes. Any other suggestions if LPN school is a waste of time and money? moreResolved Question: What is the difference between a CNA and a LNA?
Hi, I live in PA and originally I was planning on going to school to be a MA, but after hearing there are little to zero jobs available in that field I am considering a change to be a CNA. Then I started seeing all these comments on here about becoming a LNA. What is the difference between the two or are they the same thing just different area's label them differently. I've never saw a listing in the paper for a LNA..its always CNA. I would like to go to school get certified or licensed if LNA is a bit higher up w/ roughly the same schooling and once my son is old enough to start Pre-K i'd like to then start taking classes to work my way up to be a LPN then RN eventually. But right now I'd just like to know if there is a difference between a CNA and a LNA and if so what it is. Thank you so much. moreResolved Question: RN vs LPN vs PA...?
I currently have a BA in Psych and am working in a hospital, considering Nursing school. What is the difference in education, pay and practice/opportunity for an RN (Registered Nurse), LPN (Licenced Practical Nurse) and PA (Physician's Assistant)? Are there any other paths to consider (along these lines)? moreResolved Question: LPN nursing jobs in NYC?
Before anyone says, "Don't waste your time being an LPN, go right to school for RN", I am early into the LPN program as I write this and am, as of this time, only going to go for the LPN. That said, how is the job market for LPNs in New York City? Are there alot of jobs for LPNs in NYC? How is the pay? How is the pay compared to the cost of living in NYC? Can you think of any other places where there are plenty of jobs for LPNs that pay well and the cost of living isn't ridiculous? Someplace in New Jersey, perhaps, or Maryland, Delaware, or Virginia? Here in PA, the average starting salary for an LPN at a hospital is between $13 and $15 per hour, at nursing homes it ranges from $14 to $18 per hour (for LPNs). I would desire to make at least $16 per hour to start (I want to be able to pay off student loans within a year, then save for a down payment on a house, buy the house, be able to pay bills and mortgage with plenty left over to save). moreResolved Question: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS/nurse practioners I need your help!?
I would like to be a physician asst one day. to get into most pa schools you need a bachelor's degree but it can be in any major just as long as you take the prerequisites to get in the pa school; also, you must have prior health care experience..which i DO NOT have. So I started thinking, what if I go and major in Nursing? I could be an LPN in 2 years and start working in the medical field, in 4 years I would have my BSN and be an RN-all while getting the experience I need to become a PA -and make a good living financially at it. What do you think? Is there anyone in this field that can give me good advice on what path I should take? Is this a good "plan"? I expect to make minimal $60,000 after I graduate from PA school. Is this realistic? which is better pa or nurse practitioner? please try to answer all my questions, but mainly the questions I have about my educational path...THANKS moreResolved Question: PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS/Nurse Practitioners I need your advice please!?

I live in PA and I know that my sister went halfway through RN school (about a year) then moved away. where she lives now she found out that she had enough education and training to challenge the LPN test. I was wondering if I can do this because I am graduating National Registry Paramedic school in 2 months and we have more actual skills training and about the same education as RNs except for the actual "nursing" classes (we study A&P, cardiology, pharmacology, pediatrics, pathophys., gerintology,GI,trauma, the whole nine yards, plus we can do skills such as IVs, med administration, cardiac monitoring, Defibrillation/pacing/cardioversion, airway intubations (something nurses arent even allowed to do), chest decompressions, cricothorotomy). Any ideas?? any info is great!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!for whoever answered that paramedic training isnt anywhere that of an RN, you obviously havent worked around prehospital services lately. We are trained and licensed to do things nurses arent allowed to even try! We are very highly trained, medically inclined people!!! I ask about the LPN test because someone was saying that you could and I'd never heard of it. If you think Paramedics aren't as educated or skilled as a nurse, dont call an ambulance when your having The Big One, call and ER and just see if a nurse will come and get you!! (I bet you'll find out the hard way that they wont, and if they did, they wouldnt know what to do when they got there!) moreResolved Question: Were can I find a school for a LPN in Phila. PA?

I have a good job as a LPN making $18.00/hr. I do have to work some holidays and weekends. I was just offered a job as a elementary school nurse at $10.89/hr. The schedule would be great for my family, I have young children. I was told this rate would not be negotiable. I am suprised because this is what I made as a graduate before I sat for state boards in 1991. Could I push it just a little without loosing this opportunity. moreResolved Question: Should I continue a nursing career?
I am a single mother of 3 young girls. I have 6 more weeks left of lpn school, which are basically a formality, we just have to complete an additional 15 clinical days. I have been excepted to the RN program at our school which would begin in August. I am just really unsure about what option are out there. I was interested in becoming a nurse practitioner, but would have to complete another 4 years of schooling for this. One nurse suggested that I look into becoming a PA. Does anyone know the basic differences between a PA and Nurse practitioner as far as functioning capabilities and also schooling and pay? moreTop Pa Lpn Schools Links
