Resolved Question: can a credit card still charge finance charges to you after the acct. is charged off?
we've hit rock bottom and our stellar credit wrecked. my husband lost his job, i'm on ssdi, our 3 kids are all young (14, 8, and 6). we have massive medical bills and have fallen way behind. we can't even afford to eat so i stand in food bank lines in order to survive. we have NO money!!! my capitol one credit card and most of the others are at the 6 month charge-off point. capital one has alerted me in my monthly bill today that even if they charge-off my account they will still be adding finance charges to the account!!! can they legally do that??? please help me understand since this is completely freaking me out!!! how much worse can it get??!! thanks and God bless...i would love to know how this is legal since we and i'm sure others in the same situation can't even make ends meet???!!! disgusting!!! just disgustingAND---if the debt is sold off to a third party collection agency, can the interest still accrue??? moreResolved Question: Should I be going to the E.R. or wait this out over the weekend and alert the dr.?
I know, it's silly to ask a question like this on here. My medical card's hotline is closed for the night and if i called the E.R. they would never give me a straight answer. So any how, the last day or so, i've been having these aches in my lungs. Only my lungs. Both of them ache terribly and it ranges from a dull ache to a severe stabbing sensation to where i have to sit still for half a minute and then i'm okay. I can walk just fine without, no shortness of breath. My pulse and everything else is right where it should be. I do smoke, in the process of quitting, down to half a pack a day. I have diabetes. i'm in my early 20's. I listed that incase it may help. I do believe i have asthma although it wasn't diagnosed. I say that simply because my pets throw me into an asthma attack if i have to bathe, clean the litter, or in the case of the guinea pigs, hold them. But simply i just want to know if i should wait it out or go to the E.R. i don't want to waste their time, and i don't want to wake someone out of bed just bc my lungs are aching. This has done this before in the last year moreResolved Question: Is my blood group rare?

P.S. NO TIME WASTERS PLEASE OR JOKERS!!!!thank you toxolab, that helps a bit,it was 6years ago when I found out my blood group,so I may get in redone and see what the results are, thanks :0) moreResolved Question: CREDIT SCORE DROP WHILE DISPUTING A PAID COLLECTION?
I've worked hard this year at paying off bills, paying down credit cards, etc to improve my credit score.I was advised by a FICO rep to dispute some paid collections in hopes that they would be removed from my credit report. There were 3 old school loans that were paid off in 2005 and 3 medical bills that were paid off in mid 2009. I filed a dispute with Equifax on 11/9/09. In less than 24 hours, I received an alert reading that my score had dropped 11 points. There were no new accounts or delinquencies and nothing new or negative on my credit report, so it all had to do with the disputes. I called Equifax, who blamed Fico, who blamed Equifax. I talked with a myriad of reps in the US, the Phillipines and India who know nothing and could only tell me that it happens sometimes. I repeatedly asked why to no avail. I got so much misinformation it made me want to spit! Anyway, on 11/16/09, a rep told me that my disputes were completed on 11/12/09 and that the accounts were mine. Well, I never said they weren't. When filing the dispute, I clicked the option that I was no longer liable for the account because they were paid. Equifax updated the report date on all the disputed accounts to 11/09 even though they were paid in 2005 and mid 2009. I was told that this is not the paid date but the reporting date. I told them that it still looks as if I just paid these accounts in Nov 2009 or that the creditors are just reporting them in Nov 2009. Fico told me that just because the scores went down, that doesn't mean that they come back up when the dispute is completed even though nothing changed. I filed a complaint with the FTC and I am seriously thinking about suing Equifax and or FICO in small claims court. Remember, a FICO rep told me to dispute things in the first place. At the very least, it will force them to spend money to send a rep to court to defend them. Are there any class action suits going on against Equifax or would anyone like to start one? I know they've been sued several times. Please advise.Fico never told me that disputing an item would cause a new reporting date that would drop your score. If I had known this, I never would disputed these item in the first place. Of course, FICO tried every tactic known to man to defend their rep and they refused to give me corporate info to file a complaint. Thanks for nothing Edwin and Jennifer. I hope you have issues and have to deal with people like yourselves as you are completely useless. moreResolved Question: Where to get INEXPENSIVE Medical Alert ID Necklace?
I need to update my medical alert pendant, I currently have a dog tag type. But American Medical ID wants over $40 for just the basic one! That is ridiculous and I don't give a darn about them "putting me in their national database" because no medical responder is going to have to call them - they would call my doctor first! Sheesh, what a racket. And then on top of what they charge for the jewelry - they keep sending junk mail for a "donation" every year!!! They are WAY TOO GREEDY for me to even think of dealing with them again. So - where can I buy, online is ok, a medical alert ID pendant that is large enough to include a good deal of info? Even if it just pointed out "look at wallet card" that would be ok. So give me some good sites - and NOT American Medical ID! moreResolved Question: Where to get INEXPENSIVE Medical Alert ID Necklace?

They want $40 up front, plus $10 for the dog tag AND $27 for every year after that! That is insane. All I want is a tag, some engraving of major medical condition and a note to "See Wallet Card" why can't that be reasonably priced? I can get a dog tag engraved with similar info for $5! moreResolved Question: One more questions about allergies?
If your wife has medical allergies to some drugs, one of which is potentially life threatening is it normal or expected for a husband to remember them? There are 2 of them. This is something else that caused a huge fight between us. I am trying to get my head around exactly what are normal expectations in a marriage. I told the Dr she was allergic to an antibiotic but I told him the wrong one because I couldn't remember which one it was, and the I told him she was allergic to demerol when its codeine that arrests her breathing. Medical alert bracelets are over $200 where we live and so she hasn't been able to afford one so she said I should know and remember what she is allergic to. She does have it written down in her purse on a card in her wallet but I forgot it was there. I have no allergies so its not a big deal to me. Do other people know what their partners are allergic to? I have problems remembering this stuff. moreResolved Question: Will getting this really hurt my chances in careers and my future?
Ok, so I have type 1 diabetes and I want to get a medical alert tattoo on the underside of my wrist. It would simply be a medical red cross saying diabetes with some small writing (my name, DOB, and medications) underneath it, small enough to conceal behind a credit card or post-it. I'm 18 so I can get one and my doctor said it is a decent alternative to the braclets, but my parents are 100% against it, saying it would seriously damage my future and keep me from getting jobs. I doubt this is true, and its a legit reason to get a tattoo (type 1 is for life, so no worries about regretting getting it and serves a great purpose). I'm moving out for college next month, should I just get it? Even though my parents disagree? Will it hurt my career THAT bad? moreResolved Question: Medical Alert Tattoo, what do you include?
I have recently been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and a heart condition. Lucky me!!! Not all lifestyle, a lot is hereditary. I am not a jewelry person, but my doctor wants me to wear a Medic Alert bracelet. I am heavily tattooed, so I thought I would get the medic alert symbol tattooed on my wrist, but, what script, if any, do I include? Do paramedics recognize the symbol, and just assume there may be issues and check for a wallet ID card? Or, would I need to have Medical Alert tattooed around it to inform them it is not just a cool tattoo? Any suggestions? Any paramedics out there that could help? Thanks!!! moreResolved Question: Is it morally right for illegal Carlos Efren Suriano to use stolen woman's SSN# for medical care ?
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado — Glenwood Springs police arrested a suspected illegal immigrant Tuesday after he allegedly presented a social security card with a Rifle woman’s number on it at Glenwood Medical Associates. Police arrested Carlos Efren Suriano, 32, of Glenwood Springs, on suspicion of identity theft and forgery. According to an arrest affidavit, an employee at Glenwood Medical Associates said Suriano came in on Oct. 30 and gave her a social security card to pay for treatment. Problem was, the number actually belonged to a woman who lives in Rifle whose information was already in the clinic’s system, the affidavit says. The employee photocopied the social security card Suriano presented and an expired U.S. Resident Alien Card, the affidavit says. She then alerted the customer whose social security number was already in the clinic’s system. The customer told a detective about the allegations. Suriano had also managed to get a construction job with a Glenwood Springs company. The employer reportedly told the clinic employee who asked about the social security number, “Well, that’s what he gave us,” and didn’t seem concerned, the affidavit says.http://www.postindependent.com/article/20081108/VALLEYNEWS/811079985/1074 Since advocates will claim hospitals are off limits and may not act as immigration will this illegal be allowed to walk free upon La Raza filing a lawsuit and Mexican legal defense fund claims of racial profiling and hospitals are untrained to check SS#'S therefore does the illegal get a free pass here ? moreResolved Question: Where can I get a cheap and reliable Medical Alert card or bracelet?
It's been recommended to me my various doctors and individuals that I get a Medical Alert card of some sort. I want one that lists both medical conditions and allergies, since I have my fair share of both. I'd also prefer one that lets me list what I have instead of picking from a list of conditions. Thanks! moreResolved Question: What exactly is someone supposed to put on their Medic Alert bracelets/necklaces?
I'm not sure exactly what it's supposed to say on Medic Alert jewelry. I mean, I know it's supposed to list conditions that might affect you and need medical attention in an emergency, or tell you to check a card that some people carry with them, but what exactly does it say? Is there a symbol for each condition, or a special code, or does it just say "Diabetes"? moreResolved Question: Help something was stolen and...............?
My mom got her purse stolen at a park and they basically went through it and took her social security card, Id and medical card, Is there anything we can do to put an alert out just incase they try to use her social card to apply for credit cards or anything fruadulant? moreResolved Question: my mom got her purse stolen at a park and?

I'm fairly young (40) but I take a ton of prescription medications (12+). I know that they always ask you in the emergency room what medications you normally take - but if I can't talk, or can't have an extended conversation, what's the best way of letting the emergency personnel what I'm taking? I carry the business cards of my doctors in my wallet - should I keep a list of what I'm taking in my wallet with those business cards? Or would a medic-alert bracelet be the best way? (I tend to think of medic-alert bracelets as a way to notify emergency personnel that they should NOT use standard procedures). moreResolved Question: Allergy bracelets?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere in Vancouver, BC or area that sells medical bracelets or tags? I don't want to subscribe to a service like MedicAlert, I would prefer to have a bracelet that just points the doctors to my wallet where I have an alert card as I have one important medical condition and several allergies. Too many for one tag. I would prefer one that is an adjustable wrist band with a waterproof insert as I will be traveling to a tropical location and swimming a lot and sailing is dangerous with a loose metal bracelet on. Even a metal ID tag will work and I can have it affixed to a watch strap. If anyone knows a Canadian website as well that will help that would work too. I'm running out of time now so ordering from out-of-country is useless. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Alert!! Have you heard from you local P.D.?
I just recieved this email from my local Police Dept. I hope it does not apply to your area, but it's good to be in the know. Details: The Police Department has received numerous calls from senior citizens who are being contacted by telephone and advised that they need to apply for a new Medi-Care card because the old one is now obsolete. The caller claims to be from National Medical Care and he demands personal and banking information. If questioned about why he needs personal information, the caller says that he must have it to verify your information. Medi-Care does NOT call citizens on the phone and demand information. This is a common form of scam called "PHISHING". It is possible that hundreds of Amarillo citizens receive these types of calls every day. A caller identifies him/herself as a credit card, banking or other business representative. They will identify a problem withThey will identify a problem with your account and offer to fix it if only you will supply the proper information. If you do provide that information, your identity can be used, without your permission, in just a matter of minutes. Safety Tips: Never provide identifying or personal information over the phone or internet unless you know who you are giving it to. Don't listen to a long explanation about why you must give the information. Simply hang up the phone. Don't give in to threats. Alert Other Seniors Please moreResolved Question: Should the US Government and the FDA be allowed to regulate Alternative Medicines?
I say No. And if you feel the same you should state your thoughts by going to: http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/oc/dockets/comments/COMMENTSMain.CFM?EC_DOCUMENT_ID=1451&SUBTYP=CONTINUE&CID=&AGENCY=FDA And also contact your local Senate: www.congress.org Please read below: A re-print from HSI: Dear Reader, This might be the most important e-Alert I'll ever send you. Your healthcare freedom is constantly under attack. And as we've just discovered, that freedom has suddenly come under fire as never before. -------------------------------------------- Always something -------------------------------------------- Most HSI members won't be surprised to learn that the FDA has launched a plan to impose new regulations on alternative healthcare - regulations that are far more severe than existing regs. Attempts like this aren't new, of course. Over the years we've diligently monitored such actions so that we can keep you informed through the e-Alert, the HSI Members Alert, and our web site. Just last month I told you about a new senate bill called the Safe Drug Compounding Act that would limit the freedom of women to choose a safe alternative to synthetic hormone replacement therapy. So far, there's no further news about the progress of that completely unnecessary act, but now a much larger threat looms. This past December, the FDA quietly put a document on its web site titled "Draft Guidance for Industry on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Products and Their Regulation by the Food and Drug Administration." This document is open to public comments until April 30, 2007 - just a few days from now. After that, FDA officials will evaluate the comments and decide if they dare proceed with a regulation that might actually make it a crime to take vitamin C for a cold without a prescription. Sound extreme? Absolutely! This is the most extreme attempt to control the sale and use of dietary supplements I've ever seen. -------------------------------------------- The cards are stacked -------------------------------------------- The FDA document is 14 pages long, but here's what it boils down to: If you use an herbal or dietary supplement to stay healthy or to help prevent an ailment, that's fine. But if any supplement is used to treat a symptom, then it's a medicine and will be regulated by the FDA, just like any prescription drug. And there's a qualifying statement to that second part: The supplement will be exempted if it is "generally recognized, among experts qualified by scientific training and experience to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of drugs, as safe and effective for use under the conditions prescribed, recommended, or suggested in the labeling." In other words, the freedom to use a supplement to treat a condition will be at the discretion of FDA experts. And given the track record of FDA experts, this is really bad news. With this spacious latitude, there's no telling just how far the FDA might go to restrict access to supplements. For instance, they could take a widely used supplement off the market if the label states a benefit; such as using lutein to reduce the damage from age-related macular degeneration, or using chondroitin and glucosamine to reduce joint pain, or using probiotics to address digestive problems - the list goes on and on. As HSI Panelist Jon Barron points out on his web site (jonbarron.org), under the proposed FDA guidelines even bottled water might be considered a drug if used to alleviate severe dehydration, which is an emergency medical condition. moreResolved Question: If you have a medical condition what can an employer do if you should have a seizure can he give you medicine?
