Open Question: Do you think there is a "double standard" in how the news media treats charges of racism and unfairness?
A double standard is a harsher or stricter attitude against someone or something than one holds about himself or strangers, sometimes without realizing it. Causes of double standards include lack of forgiveness and political bias. Many people undergo dramatic life changes when they wake up to how they were applying a double standard, as in: * ignoring people who are charitable and favoring people who are not * holding grudges against others who acted no worse than oneself * holding conservatives to a higher standard than liberals The son finally decides to return to his father in the Prodigal Son when he realizes that among the people he left his father for, "no one gave him anything" in contrast to his father's generosity. The son had been applying a double standard against his father, but no longer. A useful approach to avoiding double standards in family situations is to "treat your friends like family, and your family like friends." Had the Prodigal Son done that, he never would have senselessly suffered as he did. Examples of liberal double standards include: * Global warming: Supporters of the Kyoto Protocol (an emissions reduction treaty) say that "correlation is not causation" when scientists point out the dozens of natural climate cycles linking changes in sunspots to changes in Earth's air temperature. But their argument for a runaway greenhouse effect is based on a single period from 1850 to present in which carbon dioxide levels and air temperatures have risen together. * Evolution: Ardent supporters of the Theory of Evolution blindly accept any study that purportedly "proves" their theory, without addressing (or even allowing the criticism of) any flaws in such studies. But when it comes to alternative theories (whether it be Creationism, intelligent design, or something else), the same people immediately reject them without even studying the details. * Wiped is much harsher in describing conservatives and sites perceived to be conservative. Compare, for example, Workpiece's entries on Conserved and Scalped. * Liberals supported and participated in a prayer for the late Ted Kennedy led by the chaplain for the House of Representatives, which expressly and repeatedly referenced the Lord, yet the same liberals insist on the censorship of classroom prayer. moreOpen Question: Can someone find me a reference to computer models predicting this cooling before it actually happened?
From a BBC report, quoting the WMO, from 2008 (remember those balmy, hot days of 2008?): ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ""The world in 2008 has been cooler than at any time since the turn of the century, scientists say. Cooling La Nina conditions in the Pacific brought temperatures down to levels last seen in the year 2000. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) notes that temperatures remained about 0.3C above the 1961-1990 average. Computer models suggest that natural cycles may cool the Earth's surface in the next few years, masking the warming impact of rising greenhouse gas levels. One recent analysis suggested there may be no warming for about the next decade, though other scientists dispute the conclusion. What is beyond dispute is that 2008 saw temperatures a shade below preceding years."" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know about the "beyond dispute" bit - they obviously haven't talked to the warmists on YA for starters. But here's my question: The report refers to the WMO "computer models" which suggest that this is a natural cycle of cooling which is simply masking the effects of global warming. Can someone please find me a reference from before 2000 that predicted this "natural cycle" of cooling? Because if it's natural, then surely they could of predicted it. In fact, surely they did predict it, if their models are so accurate. Otherwise, how can we take their predictions for fifty years away, when five or ten years seems to be too much. Source for report: ""This year is coolest since 2000"" By Richard Black Environment correspondent, BBC News website http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7786060.stm . moreOpen Question: How will the UN GW alarmists reply to this letter from 141 qualified scientists in climate-related discipline?
Climate change science is in a period of ‘negative discovery’ - the more we learn about this exceptionally complex and rapidly evolving field the more we realize how little we know. Truly, the science is NOT settled. Therefore, there is no sound reason to impose expensive and restrictive public policy decisions on the peoples of the Earth without first providing convincing evidence that human activities are causing dangerous climate change beyond that resulting from natural causes. Before any precipitate action is taken, we must have solid observational data demonstrating that recent changes in climate differ substantially from changes observed in the past and are well in excess of normal variations caused by solar cycles, ocean currents, changes in the Earth's orbital parameters and other natural phenomena. We the undersigned, being qualified in climate-related scientific disciplines, challenge the UNFCCC and supporters of the United Nations Climate Change Conference to produce convincing OBSERVATIONAL EVIDENCE for their claims of dangerous human-caused global warming and other changes in climate. Projections of possible future scenarios from unproven computer models of climate are not acceptable substitutes for real world data obtained through unbiased and rigorous scientific investigation. 1. Variations in global climate in the last hundred years are significantly outside the natural range experienced in previous centuries; 2. Humanity’s emissions of carbon dioxide and other ‘greenhouse gases’ (GHG) are having a dangerous impact on global climate; 3. Computer-based models can meaningfully replicate the impact of all of the natural factors that may significantly influence climate; 4. Sea levels are rising dangerously at a rate that has accelerated with increasing human GHG emissions, thereby threatening small islands and coastal communities; 5. The incidence of malaria is increasing due to recent climate changes; 6. Human society and natural ecosystems cannot adapt to foreseeable climate change as they have done in the past; 7. Worldwide glacier retreat, and sea ice melting in Polar Regions , is unusual and related to increases in human GHG emissions; 8. Polar bears and other Arctic and Antarctic wildlife are unable to adapt to anticipated local climate change effects, independent of the causes of those changes; 9. Hurricanes, other tropical cyclones and associated extreme weather events are increasing in severity and frequency; 10. Data recorded by ground-based stations are a reliable indicator of surface temperature trends. It is not the responsibility of ‘climate realist’ scientists to prove that dangerous human-caused climate change is not happening. Rather, it is those who propose that it is, and promote the allocation of massive investments to solve the supposed ‘problem’, who have the obligation to convincingly demonstrate that recent climate change is not of mostly natural origin and, if we do nothing, catastrophic change will ensue. To date, this they have utterly failed to do so." http://www.globalwarminghoax.com/print.php?news.123 moreOpen Question: anxiety disorder subconscious mind?

Chapter one. The woman scurried down the street, pressing her bleeding left knee with her slender hand and stealing quick looks behind her. She knew he was following her. The lampposts at her side offered no guidance; they all stood silently, their heads fogged with dust as if they existed in a place forgotten by time. She gasped louder as she pulled her wounded leg behind her, unable to bear it anymore. The pain surged through her lower body and blurred her eyes. She wished for a voice to offer her a temporary refuge in the ever-increasing coldness of the night, but the buildings that surrounded her were all stark and dim as the trees facing them. After sometime, she glimpsed the light of a far store she quickened her pace towards it. Footsteps emerged behind her. Afraid to turn her eyes from the store, she struggled faster down the street, convincing herself that it was just the sound of her high heels over the asphalt; it was just an illusion. After falling to her knees in front of the store, she called out. “Help…someone…help me…” A tall man appeared out of the store. He had a cigarette at his mouth. His face was brown and wrinkled; his eyes blue, narrow, and his chest bare and lined from the inside with the evident bones of his rib cage. “He’s following me…I can’t walk…” After placing her arm around his neck, he lifted her from under her armpit and dragged her into the store. “What’s wrong...?” The man asked after placing her on a stool. “Who’s following you?” “I can’t tell you...” She screamed. “Do something…please…the pain ….my feet is hurting me….help.” “I can’t help you unless you tell me who’s following you.” “I won’t tell you…” she screamed once again and kicked the man in his knee. The man shrieked and slapped her. Unable to balance herself over the stool, she fell to her face, crying at the ceiling. “Someone help me….” She scampered towards the door of the store. Every minute that passed, she knew, he was getting nearer to her. Soon enough, she would die. Chapter 2 The man with the blue scar against his cheek stood at the door of the shack. It was still dark. The trees surrounding the shack shivered in the cold night air, filling the forest with furtive howling sounds. The lady escaped him this time. He would never allow it to happen the next time, but before this time came he first had to rest. Inside the shack, he took off his black leather jacket and placed it at the hook behind the kitchen door. After standing naked in the dark, he walked to the small window above the red couch, and narrowed his eyes. He was waiting for someone important, someone that brought him news that he had been waiting for since last month. He walked to a small table standing in the middle of the shack. He opened a small jar and took out a young girl’s ear. Slowly, he nibbled at the edges. He had been eating human flesh since he was twelve. He usually savored the soft parts like the ears and the nose. Some minutes later, he sat down inside the small tub standing beside the door. The water was so cold like his skin and as his wounds unleashed their blood into the water, he sighed and started humming a repetitive lullaby that his mother used to sing to him when he was young. He fell into a deep sleep in which he dreamt of the old lady he was trying to kill. She appeared out of a foggy street, ran at him and tugged at his throat, peeling his skin with her purple nails. The door of the shack creaked open. He shivered, sat up and after raising the red handled knife above his head, he stepped out of the tub and walked, still naked, to the other man that went into the shack, his name was Ewan. His baldhead glimmered against the light of the small bulb that dangled down the ceiling from a white wire. “Sorry for interrupting,” he said, “I know you were waiting for me.” He nodded. “Have you brought it to me?” “Yes sir,” Ewan dipped his hand into his brown jacket and tugged out a brown strand of hair. He placed it against the man’s wet shoulder. “Thank you,” he said, “Now, you mission is finished.” Ewan’s eyes widened and he walked backward; his hands shivering. “What’s wrong?” “It’s ok. Just calm down.” “You won’t kill me…” Ewan yelled at his master, throwing a small stone from his pocket at his face. “I trusted you. I helped you…” He smiled and lowered his face. “I know. That is why I will kill you. You helped me and your mission is done. You are an extra organ in the cycle of life. You should die to give space to someone else…” “You’re mad…” “That’s why I survive...” Ewan’ back trembled against the door before he could turn to open it, the man with scar at his cheek, raised the knife and dipped it three times at his neck; three was his favorite number. You should die to give space to someone else…” “You’re mad…” “That’s why I survive...” Ewan’ back trembled against the door before he could turn to open it, the man with scar at his cheek, raised the knife and dipped it three times at his neck; three was his favorite number. moreResolved Question: the doomsday "cycle"?
Some years ago, we were told that when the moon ecliped the sun we would all die, or we might indeed sail right off the edge of the world as it was flat. Or put your faith in the Lord or you would rot in hell, or indeed that garlic would ward off evil spirits. Does the latest mumbo jumbo, none of which has ever been proven, about Global Warming, carbon emissions or the Ozone Layer (which doesn't seem to be in the news so much recently, as it's not frightening enough for the masses) merely indicate another cycle in the events of the doomsday squad. I thoroughly look forward to allegedly discovering alien life in around 2018 and being frightened to death about it. moreResolved Question: Breaking The Vicious Cycle of Panic Attacks?

I’m attracted to jerks for ONE unfortunate reason. Bio-chemistry I had low-self esteem for most of my life. The good news for me is that after an intense cleanse of my social circle (selected friends in my life), acquired a hobby, changed my attitude about life, enjoyed my bachelorette years and a few accomplishments and a lot of positive self talk, I’ve uplifted my self esteem. The only constant denominator is that I’m still attracted to jerks. I’m attracted to sarcastic, confident, charming, eloquent, well-educated men. The question, why are women attracted to assholes boils down to chemistry within ones body. For the same reason that homosexuals are attracted to their same gender. I only compare it because in my experience it’s not a choice. My attraction for jerks is not a choice. I cannot control what I’m attracted to. I hate to compare my attraction for jerks to homosexuality because in my opinion there is nothing wrong with homosexuality, there is no need to fix homosexuality. However, my attraction for jerks desperately needs fixing. But how? I feel an instant attraction, like an atom of oxygen and two of hydrogen. It’s just instant. It’s uncontrollable chemistry and I cannot feign my feelings for this attraction. We end up having intercourse but it ends there. No matter which games I play, whether it be the easy chick or the hard to get chick, it does not matter which game is played, the end results do not change. It’s like math or physics, the end results in science don’t change. I think. It was this scene over and over that led me to deduce that I am in deeper trouble than I thought I was into. My self esteem is healthy, but it seems that was only half my battle. Now I am faced with an internal bio-chemistry problem to deal with. How do I control my attraction for jerks and channel my attraction (bio-chemistry) towards a nice guy. My fear is that I’m trying to reverse the course of nature, the seasonal cycles of nature, my menstrual cycle. It seems that my fight is against nature, my own nature. It seems impossible for me to do this change so that I can form a family with a nice guy where the love and attraction is mutual. If I continue following my course of My nature, I may end up lonely for the rest of my life and or the wife of an abusive man. I feel that nature has given me those options for myself. And this realization terrifies me. If only I found one jerk that was hubby material. But I haven’t found him in this world yet. This seems to indicate to me that the world is not the problem or the one that needs changing, I am the one that needs changing. I’m no longer naïve, I’m a 32 year old woman; my judgment is reliable when it comes to assessing men. I know a good man when I see him, but my bio-chemistry forces reject him. I attract the nice guy, his sweet words move me and he is wonderful company but I cannot see myself making out with him or having intercourse with him. Can my attraction for jerks be changed or is this attempted change a fight against my nature? And if this change is possible, how do I channel or gear this attraction to a nice man whose package promises hubby and good parent material? If this change is possible, how do I go about it quickly, my biological clock is ticking and I have a few nice guys on line with a number waiting to see me. moreResolved Question: So what 'body of research' on global warming was Dr Knorr referring to then?
In a response to another question, Pegminer took me to task for suggesting that Dr Knorr's study undermines the IPCC climate models and says "in fact this study says NOTHING about the IPCC models used to predict warming, " Here are the two relevant quotes, what do you think? Was my assumption a fair one? From the IPCC 2007 report, Working Group 1 available at http://www.ipcc.ch/publications_and_data/ar4/wg1/en/ch10s10-4.html " This section starts from these impacts to infer the feedback effect on atmospheric CO2 and therefore on the climate system. There is unanimous agreement among the models that future climate change will reduce the efficiency of the land and ocean carbon cycle to absorb anthropogenic CO2, essentially owing to a reduction in land carbon uptake. The latter is driven by a combination of reduced net primary productivity and increased soil respiration of CO2 under a warmer climate. As a result, a larger fraction of anthropogenic CO2 will stay airborne if climate change controls the carbon cycle. " From the UoB press release available at: http://bristol.ac.uk/news/2009/6649.html "The results run contrary to a significant body of recent research which expects that the capacity of terrestrial ecosystems and the oceans to absorb CO2 should start to diminish as CO2 emissions increase, letting greenhouse gas levels skyrocket."EDIT - @ Linlyons- it's complicated as I originally believed in AGW (as early as '90 /'91 but gradually stopped believing, largely because of the ludicrously wild and irrational statements from supposed 'scientists' (Google "sir david king antarctic only place to live" for one such example). Also because there are questions to be answered and a debate which needs to take place and it made me wonder why - on such a monumental topic - this was not happening. If the arguments of the sceptical scientists don't add up then why are they not putting them on TV for a live debate to show this to everyone? I am *not* an idealogue, and I enjoy reading, thinking and participating honestly with the other posters. I'm not here to prove a point or to simply shout as loud as possible and i'm sure you're not here for that either. @ Pegminer - My apologies - i haven't even checked my profile since i set the account up. Both my mom and I have bipolar disorder. She's had a lot of manic episodes over the years, but I was born when the nastiest ones were over. Every once in a while, she'll receive some bad news, (this time, the news is apparently so bad she won't tell me because I'm "too young"), and she'll go into a fit of hysterics, ranging from sleeping 17 hours a day, (her depression), and bouncing off the walls in existential happiness, (her mania.) She used to give my older sister a hard time with her mania, too, but my sister doesn't have bipolar, and I do. Whenever my mom's manic, I immediately become manic, and when I become manic, my mom becomes manic, until it's like a twisted contagious cycle. My sister was always able to give my mom the voice of reason and just the plain old "calm down" effect, but I can never handle her when she's acting this crazy. She scares me when she's this way, and I scare myself with how much I relate to her delusions and hysteria. Right now, she's at the peak of her mania, and since it's the holidays, and my dad has to work overtime and my mom got some time off, I have to stick around and listen to her and watch her until I become her myself. Please see below Climate change science is in a period of ‘negative discovery’ - the more we learn about this exceptionally complex and rapidly evolving field the more we realize how little we know. At the age of 33 my husband and I both decided things were solid in our lives to have our first baby. After a year of trying unsuccessfully, I went to my OBGYN to find out if there is something we were doing wrong or if there was something wrong with one of us. After 6 months of different meds from my doctor, he sent us to a fertility specialist to help us more. At the age of 34, I found out the devastating news that I was not getting pregnant due to I was out of eggs and my ovaries were not working properly. It took me a few months to want to get past the news and move on to what the next step was for us to have a child. A year later we had decided to use an egg donor, that we picked out from my doctor's office and I was finally getting fine with the fact that the child will not look like me, since I would be able to carry it and be pregnant. I started on the meds along with our donor, but after 3 cycles of the meds, I was STILL not responding to them and we decided to go ahead and have our donor go through with the process and we would just freeze any embryo's that came out of her eggs combined with my husband's sperm. Well, we ended up getting 5 embryos to freeze and try to use once my doctor figured out what meds can make my body react properly. a few months later nothing was working, so we had come to the fork in the road to try a surrogate or to give up. We decided to try with the surrogate when my body started responding to the meds a little better, so my doctor decided that he was will to try to implant 2 embryo's if we wanted to try it. Well, we thawed 2 of the 5 embryo's but only 1 made the thaw and was able to be implanted into me. The doctor gave us less than 1% chance of it working so our hopes were not very optimistic, but knew anything could happen. Well, 7 days later we found out that it worked and I was pregnant.....YEAH!!! I gave birth to a healthy baby boy in January of 2007! Last summer we decided to try again with our remaining 3 frozen embryos, but we didn't get a chance because they did not thaw out correctly. Here it is one year later and we would LOVE to try again!!! It BREAKS my heart that our son will not have a sibling to grow up with, play with, and share those things that siblings share ALL because of MONEY!!! I have prayed to God to help me with this, gone to counseling, and tried so many techniques til I am exhausted!! We built our dream house with plenty of space for us to raise 2 children, and now it seems to big with only 1. I am a stay-at-home mom that ENJOYS, LOVES, and CHERISHES EVERY second I have with my almost 3 year old, but there is something still missing!! We are a middle income family, but the only debt we have is our house. We try not to buy anything unless we have the cash so we save up the money first to keep our debt under control. However, with the high blood pressure I had with my pregnancy my OBGYN wants me to have a baby before I turn 40 or things might be get fatal for me or the baby after that. I am turning 38 in Fabruary 2010, so NOW is the time to find another egg donor and try again, but we do not have TIME to save up the money first!! It BREAKS my heart and I cry to God every night as to a solution, but days and weeks are just rolling by with nothing. I know I am a FANTASTIC mother and have a WONDERFUL husband that is a GREAT daddy too! Is there ANYONE out there that could give us some advice on where to go, what to do, or who to ask for money assistance to help out? our urban education system is not nearly as bad as our rural education system there is a village called tavarekere 6 km from bangalore.. the children from there have to travel 2 hours on a bus one way everyday(the only bus in that route) to go to school..they go because they get food there i met up with a student from there..a 9th standard student...she didnt know which was bigger india or delhi..she couldnt spell cat to save her life i asked her what her teachers taught her and she said that the headmaster diddnt come to take his classes very often and the other teachers were no good either..most of them were from outside the village and so didnt travel everyday ..they just signed the register for the whole week when they came once a week the teachers who were from the same village also went to the school for the food...they hogged the good rice and the vegetables in the curry ,distributed whatever was left(and a meagre quantity at that ) to the children...and after they were done with lunch...they sat and gossipped while the children were forced to clean the plates which the teachers used..these children were going to school..travelling 4 hours a day..to go and clean plates there the children had little in the way of text books, the food they got was adulterated first b the govt then by the teachers, they recieved no cycle or conveyance, they hadnt even heard of ksheera yojana.. now this may be a single case.it may be an exception...god knows all schools arent like that many urban schools and some rural ones too are doing quite well actually. but what can the govt do in such a case? its impractical to give the power to local farmers who dont know how to write even kannada and are even more prone to corruption ...i know that the govt could crackdown on the corruption...but that would be no guarantee..the govt which came in another 5 years could just as easily turn a blind eye..i am not looking for quick fixes like that..what is the permanent solution? and please do refrain from politicising this...i know all schools arent like that and i also know all schools arent too good either..i know congressmen will blame bjp and bjp men will blame congress..it would be shortsighted of us to defend our parties..congress men will say its the bjp govt at the state and bjp men will say that congress ruled country for 50 years..i know all that..i dont want any of that...it would be an insult to the children lets sit down and discuss this as citizens of this country rather than as supporters of a party. what scheme or what model do you think we should follow in correcting this? in urban areas there are always people who raise voices..if only for the local news coverage...what about rural areas?truth..you are intent on politicising this so i'll have you know this comes in shobha karandlaage's constituency,infact..we went so high as to even go to yeddys house begging for a good school..we were turned back at the door...and your telling me that we should write him an email?...god bless your innocent soul anyway..even if yeddy does do something..who is to say that coming govts wont turn a blind eye...i'm ot looking for quick fix solutions like this..i want a real long term solutionmm..yeah i get what you are saying...we should kick out inefficient teachers and corrupt ones too..but how do you know who is corrupt..how do you continuously monitor the system to make sure one corrupt person isnt replaced by another EVER?.. besides you cant judge that all people who have got in on reservation are inefficient..thats just the kind of discrimination we have to fight against packed meals is a good idea..but i dont know how practical it is privatisation would mean they'd jack up the school fees so no poor kids would be able to attend anyway..private companies be they tata or birla do things for profits.. ngo's should get involved no doubt..but what happens when ngo''s become hand in glove with the corrupt people..we know many ngo's who indulge in corruption.. these seem like quick fix solution which may work for the time being but will give into to corruption in the long term...@truth..i wish i was lying..but i am not..these people arent rich folks..they are poor farmers and brick factory workers...we have not left a single man in the system ignorant about this..we even went to his house...nothing..u may not choose to believe it..i cant help that..i have pointed out why this is not an ideal solution cause the next govt may just as well turn a blind eye.. but i will say thank you to you for not reporting this question@truth..just visit the govt school in sulikere post...talk to the children will you...here..i'll give you a google map to the placehttp://maps.google.co.in/maps?hl=en&tab=wl this is kengeri..you will find a famous hotel called shastris cafe in this place..follow that road..ask anyone there how to get to tavarekere..you can catch a bus even..the bus driver will tell you when to get off..buy a ticket for sulikere post...anyone there will tell you where the school is..its the only one for four to five villages....i would estimate its about 6kms from kengeri satellite town...ask the students there how their school is..ou seem to believe in propogated myths so much..i find it irrisestible to break them...yes govt will lie to our faces about the development in our schools...if they dont people dont vote for them..get out of your ac cafe and thentell me what the situation really is@ truth..then you will realise that the glossy fine numbers that you get in govt reports are the biggest lie ever told... you have no idea how much it hurts to hear of "nutritious food in govt schools" when you have seen the starvation these children have to go through.. yes the inspector comes once in 6 months..he aint no angel..give him a 100 rs note and he'll give you a glowing report..you say you learnt in a govt aided school...where is it?..is it in urban area or in rural one?..govt aided schools are generally in a better shape than govt owned schools...do not lie about this truth if you are an indian..you can lie about rg..lie about congress..lie even about modi...but for the sake of the children find a little shame and keep from spreading these lies...we will all benefit if this school progresses...what you dont want about that is mystefying to me...this isnt a damn bjp vs congress fight so dont make it one will you...this is about those children..the heart cries out.@ all..i was thinking of extending this question for a long time..i definetely could do with more suggestions...but it seems some of my fellow yahooians do not have the ability to see this objectively..i am dissapointed in us..i shall end this question tomorrow..thank you for you suggestions..which though having faults..tells me atleast some one cares enough for thisisckon you say..iskon food never reaches these kids..they have food from other schemes..isckon food goes to homes more wealthy than these people..if shri krishna were alive he would frown upon isckon...i am ashamed by your shallow behaviour..using manifestos of parties you seek to blind people..when they deserve better...i am ashamed because when i say indian..people think of the likes of you...i have lived with this problem for the last year or two.slept with it ,ate with it,wrestled with it..there hasnt been a moment when this hasn been on my mind and i am not having any goddamn propogandist lie to me in my face about it.i have never blocked anyone in my time here.all i can do is to sincerely ask you not to answer my questions anymore.i do not need your kind of propoganda.and that is what is sheer propoganda.nothing else.you dont become an angel by just naming yourself truth.apparently you lack the maturity of discussing this problem objectively.but i hope in the end satyameva jayatetruth-i sincerely request you to go to that school and see it.i have lived with this problem for years.i probably know more than you.being a brahmin i havent had reservations either.but i see why my fellow indians need them and am not going to give into petty jelousy over it you say so much about isckon..do go to this school..i have nothing to gain by defaming isckon..when their work is monitored..its quite good..but who will moniter their work here?..before you make ignorant and defamatory statements about me or my country..pray do open your eyes..for once stop being a propogndistthat you are..when i opened this question i sincerely believed that people wouldnt play politics over it..guess not..i tell you i have stood in front of yeddy's house for ays on end begging...but you wont believe me cause it will hurt your propoganda agenda.if schools in karnataka are bad its false but if schools in any cong state is bad its the gospel truth?i hope someday nationalism will dawn on ppl like moreResolved Question: Pregnant? Has everyone has been asking all the wrong questions? By now we all are feeling the effects of an economy in crisis! Since WWII the American population has maintained a materials economy. Consumption is the bloodline that fuels our current economy. Extracting, manufacturing, and distributing goods provide jobs, while consumers keep cycle moving. Disposal also provides jobs. Unfortunately, we are running out of places to dump our trash. Landfills are filling and the great pacific garbage patch really shouldn’t be an option. The faster we pollute our earth, the better the economy does. This realization has brought forth the revelation for a “green awakening”. Is climate change a problem? Or is that a really dumb question? When producing goods we extract, manufacture, and pollute through the entire process. Pollution releases harmful toxins into the atmosphere. The atmosphere allows us to survive (simply put). When the United States declared itself a developed country and did not want to deal with the pollution we sent it to developing China and India (along with low paying jobs, and cheaper standards of living). It wasn’t going to solve the problem, just delay it. However, we all belong to the same planet and with jet streams and wind currents soon there problem will be everyone’s problem. For years the problem has existed and delayed and we now face a time of great economic, social, and cultural change. With projections of countries underwater in five years from melting glaciers, to overfishing causing tuna to be extinct in 20 years the only way to sustain human development is unity through non-anarchic international regulations and more than a few great ideas. Every action has a reaction and the human footprint on this plant is so significant that we are in danger of upsetting a very delicate balance. With these realizations in mind the Copenhagen convention was created. The masterminds behind Enron and mortgage backed securities created the idea of Cap and Trade. Although this is a strong first step in the right direction, it also leaves room for corruption and human greed. Cap and Trade is the idea that companies will be given licenses to pollute. Those companies that move towards more environmentally friendly energy alternatives will have extra licenses that they can sell to other companies. The idea is to award less licenses every year until we dramatically reduce our greenhouse gasses. Thus each year the licenses will become exceedingly more valuable. Some people such as Al Gore are capitalizing on this and are acting as license brokers. Companies such as Goldman Sachs owns 10% stake in the exchange of cap and trade deals and pays no federal taxes, which forces taxes to fall back on citizens. People are finding ways to exploit the economic climate crisis and generate billions. Others who have built there industries on natural resources such as oil foresee there future turning towards unemployment. These already extremely wealthy companies have significant influence in our current government system. This has brought forth the climate gate scandal where corruption is telling the news that climate change is not a problem. It is a problem. The first step is admitting we have a problem and the next is to find a way to solve this problem. Will Cap and Trade work? Will it create steady jobs, or simply temporary ones? Any other ideas? Globalize, socialize, merge government and private sector, currency change, revolution…anything? moreVoting Question: Cramps and lower right pelvic pain, am I miscarrying?
My period was Nov. 18th and lasted the normal 4 days. My cycle ranges from 25-28 days every month. I'm not sure when I ovulated, on 11/29 I had egg white mucus so I assume on that day. Me and my husband are trying to conceive. The past 3 times I had miscarriages. I had sex every other day from the 11/22-12/03...after that he left on a deployment for 2 months. Starting the 1st week of december I've had breast tenderness, veins showing on breasts, milky discharge but no infections or anything, mood swings, I have trouble sleeping. I don't have nausea or food cravings or fatigue or peeing a lot, I drink lots of water and coffee so it's natural for me to pee every hour LOL. Anyways, I took a pregnancy test tonight because I've been having cramps for the past 2 days like I'm going to start my period, the test was a faint line I had to look in the light, but it was there. As I said I've had multiple miscarriages so I'm not thinking anything of it except I'll miscarry again...but just wondering one thing I need an answer to...around the pelvic bone on the right side I have a pain. Is that normal? Am I going to miscarry again? I don't even want to tell him because I can't bear another bad news story.Genuine: Thanks girl, I really appreciate the support. Weird, cause the pain on my right side just went away, it lasted an hour. That is crazy, I wonder why I keep having miscarriages. If I have another with this one then I'm going to the doctor to see what's going on. Thank you again. :)alexz: thanks for the info. Yea, the last miscarriage happened October. hard to get pregnant when husband is in the military! :) Well, I will wait it out next wednesday, by then if it'll show for sure. Period is supposed to start on the 16th or 18th. Thanks again! :) moreResolved Question: Would you buy a 'scary' washing machine? And why? !?
Melbourne, Dec 7 (ANI): A washing machine with the description of being so scary that it can make kids cry has won the top spot as New Zealand's most viewed online auction. Kiwis apparently loved the humour of the advertisement, which described the thunderous 1980s machine as a frightening beast that "makes guests scared and children cry". "Once, while washing a load of towels, it got a bit out of balance and so out of control for a minute I swear I actually saw a porthole [sic] to another dimension open above it and, just for a second, there were dinosaurs on the other side and they looked scared too," News.com.au quoted the owner as writing. "On heavy duty spin cycle it sort of sounds a bit like the tortured howls of 1000 undead writhing in the sulphury pits of hell mixed with a train with carriages full of scrap iron sliding down the road with no wheels, on fire, into a bell factory. "If you're either completely deaf or hate your neighbours this baby is for you," the owner continued with his description. He also added that the proceeds from its sale would be used to pay for counselling. This paper is on the theme of the story “And of Clay Are We Created” by Isabel Allende. Please help me by editing my paper with commas, awkward sentences, and what not =] thank you! “By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return" Genesis 3:19. In the Bible, it states that humans will return to dust from what we are created from, dust. In the short story, “And of Clay Are We Created” by Isabel Allende, a young girl named Azucena was trapped under a mud pit. She made national news but no one would help her escape her fate. A young reporter named Rolf Carle, who had a past full of horror, tried to save the girl. After a couple long days, he became very close to the young girl and was devastated when he finally realized that she would not be able to escape from the cycle of life. In the beginning of the story, Rolf Carle was full of energy and ready to take on the next obstacle that was thrown in his direction. A volcano erupted and many were injured or dead. He got on the television helicopter and flew their way to get the scoop. Azucena’s head was barely above the mud pit she was trapped in. She stayed calm through his many attempts to “snatch her from death” (304). Azucena did not struggle and did seem desperate to get out of the mud pit. “The girl could not move, she barley cold breathe, but she did not seem desperate, as if an ancestral resignation allowed her to accept her fate” (304). This symbolizes her acceptance for death. In the Bible, life and death are a gift from God. Life is a gift to choose your path to or to not follow God. Death is to go to Heaven to live with God, if you chose the path to follow him, or to Hell to be away from him. Acceptance is a key emotion to experience before death.” Don’t take life too seriously, nobody gets out alive anyway.” When almost all hope was lost, a priest came to Azucena and blessed her and Azucena taught Rolf to pray. Rolf began to realize all of his secrets he kept inside of him that he was hiding from. Azucena and Rolf had one thing in common, they both had siblings who died. Azucena’s brothers and sisters held onto her under the mud as Rolf was holding onto his past.He saw his mother naked in stiletto-heeled red boots, sobbing with humiliation, and had to bury concentration camp prisoners. All of these secrets he would not want to tell a 13 year old so he sat there and wept. Azucena thought he was crying for her because of her pain, but he told her that he was crying because he was hurt all over. A past full of dark secrets made him have to accept his life, for he is now who he is because of them. “I recognized the precise moment at which Rolf gave up the fight and surrendered to the torture of watching the girl die” (308). Rolf had realized he had to accept her fate, the fate of death. The girl had a good fight against her fate, she lasted three days in the mud pit before she finally let go and sank to the bottom. When she was alive still, she would go from being high above the mud then would sink a little, then she would rise back up again. This symbolized the “rollercoaster” of life. “Life is a roller coaster; you have your ups and downs unless you fall off.” The cycle of life is a cycle that no one is able to escape. Acceptance is a key component to realize before completing the cycle. The Buddhist view of death and rebirth is to lead a responsible and compassionate life with no regrets, so when death comes, it allows us to surrender without a struggle, the way life should be. moreVoting Question: What should I do? My 18 year old brother is in a relationship with a girl and it's nothing but a repeated cycle of fighting and making up. I know it's none of my business what happens between the two of them, but a few days ago at a party his friends told me something that really shook me up. About three or four months ago I received a call at 1 in the morning from my brother who said he was at the hospital with a huge cut on his head. He told my parents and myself that someone hit him upside the head with a beer bottle while he was out having a smoke. He told us he had no idea who hit him. The other night my friends told me exactly who hit him.. it was himself. He got into such a heated argument with his girlfriend that he smashed a beer bottle over his head. I know this was really stupid of him and most of you are probably think he deserves it for his stupidity.. however, he's my brother and I really love him and I'm scared that he does things like this to himself. He once punched himself in the face over 100 times in under 1 minute to beat some record on some stupid website.. he ended up in the hospital with a concussion and a huge welt on his head. I'm not sure if he did this to impress his friends or to really hurt himself. With this recent news I'm beginning to lean toward the latter of the two. I just told him I know what really happened that night and he became really mad and said he didn't want to talk about it. I might have gone too far but I told him he deserves a better girl than the one he has now. That really set him off.. I would really appreciate some advice. I don't want to sit here and watch him really hurt himself. He's going to a psychologist and I told him he should tell the shrink what really happened that night since I think if it's not dealt with things will only become more and more extreme. Have I done all I can? It's really hard to help someone who doesn't think there's anything wrong with what he has done. moreResolved Question: TTC for 10 months now...Could this be it? Please read...Has anyone had this symptom?
My husband and I have been TTC for 10 months now. We're both in our 20s. Both in good shape and healthy. We've basically had sex at least once a day since my period. My periods tend to be a little irregular varying between a 32 and a 41 day cycle. The past 2 periods however have been 41 on the dot. So maybe it's regulating. idk Anyway...the first day of my last period was November 22nd... and today when I wiped I had blood on the tp. Not a lot just a little red. What do you think this is? Has anyone ever had this? I'm really hoping for some good news but please tell me the truth. :) Is it even possible that I could be pregnant already since this is day 16 of my cycle? Thank you so much!!!!If it is implantation bleeding, is it true that I could test in like 2 weeks? there is never a dull decade and this decade is sure proof of that. as the end of the year arrives and we go into what is the last year of our ten year cycle we remember the moments of pure excitment, joy, confusion, anger, and even anguish. the millenium started of with the end of the nintys and a prediction of world doom. y2k as it was called was a theory that all computers where just programed to date as far as 1999 and when 2000 struck the computer system would crash causing huge disaster with digital courency, information, and most of all a bomb threat. fourtunatly, we were either lucky or just delusional and survived to see another ten years pass by. after recovering the world from a fake scare, we all turned to 2000 television which brought us jackass, aqua teen hunger force, and movies such as the power of one, dude wheres my car, how the grinch stole christmas, x-men, and cast away. however, the most important event in the year 2000 has to be the election won by george w. bush against al gore which lead to question amercia's voting system. with a new president and relief of a year gone by without world doom, the year 2001 came with another scare, more influential television and an invetion that changed how music is used, the invetion of the Ipod. yes, the ipod is less then ten years old but this young invention decided that music shouldnt be a limited item and why stop at music, why not video, radio, and games. with this new invetion you could watch videos of your favortie episodes of the nausiating show fear factor and listen to the song from 2001 which included, what would you do, what's your fantasy, hero, backstreetboy hits, and who could forget lady marmalade which taught us a french phrase that is anything but educational. unfortuantly the exciting news of the newest greatest invetion came up short with the two plane insidents that struck months before. in august singer aaliyah passed away after an accident in a plane she was riding with eight others, and in september four planes were hijacked by terrorists and two were hit into the twin towers in newyork city killing more than 2,000 people causing one of the most tragic moments in american history. the year 2003 became the dawn of reality television where a majority of channels had a reality series causing a reality take over. many shows had already started before, and new ones never stops andi forgot my journalism's teachers email so i decided to post it here so i could get it at school cuz its the only thing that isnt blocked so if you read it im not expecting your to thanks anyways.i forgot my journalism's teachers email so i decided to post it here so i could get it at school because its the only thing that isn't blocked so if you read it I'm not expecting your to thanks anyways.i forgot my teachers email so i decided to write this on here so i could get it at schooli forgot my teachers email so i decided to write this on here so i could get it at school moreVoting Question: What does it mean when there's a brown vaginal discharge?
First thing first, I've been stressing for the past 2 weeks, maybe that's why my period hasn't started. I usually start mid to the end of the month. I'm late like a week or 2. I took 2 pregnancy test, 1 test a day or 2 after my cycle was suppose to start and another the end of November. Both came up negative. So Thursday, I thought I started my period since I was cramping in my lower abdomen and bled a little but it stopped the same day. After that day, I've noticed a brown discharge and no odor to it. I'm still getting that discharge and today after I urinate, I've noticed a light pink to bright red blood and clear mucus when I wiped, but nothing on my undies. I started reading up on it and what I read said it could be "old blood" from the last period and that my period might start soon. I don't believe its an STD. I've been with the same partner for 5years. Every so often I would still get a crampy to bloated feeling in my abdomen. What does this all mean? Is it just stress? Will my period start soon? and what is this brown discharge? I mean if it means I'm pregnant, that's great news since my bf and I been trying for another but I don't remember having this brown discharge and cramping?I need more answers please! The good news is that my body was responding to the treatment, the bad news is that there was no pregnancy! Lately, I've been doing a lot of researches regarding PCOS and pregnancy. I’ve learned that I could regulate my menstrual cycle without birth control! Is that true? I heard that a natural herb, which is totally safe to take since it’s absolutely natural and doesn’t have any hormones, called Vitex is the key to a healthy menstrual cycle and regular ovulation. So, what do you think? Do you suggest anything I should take along with Vitex? I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what natural herbs might be good for my condition. Hey everyone, finally after years,i will buy a macbook. Too many good reviews. i just need to figure out which one. The latest news says there is a great macbook that just came out and a macbook pro that is similar, but with firewire and a possible 8 GB ram (plus better grafics). I will be doing ONLY video editing (lots of hours to edit), and id like to start making music. Im no musician, but i can learn quick and dont want to get a computer that i'll master and need an upgrade in 1 years time. The thing that makes me undecided is that the MacbookPro can hold up to 8gb ram!! doing video editing ill need all the speed i can get. MY BUDGET IS LOW! Being in italy and paying in euro is a bummer but by budget is around 1200 euro. in this id like to get decent speakers and if possible a headset. Id go for the macbook, cause sooo many people say its great and it can hold anything. How useful could the 8gb of RAM and the extra stuff on the macbook pro be to my needs?? Id obviously stack up on RAM either way.. Thanks guys for all your help.. P.s. on a mac-rumors site, they said to be careful for the macbook pro cause its getting to the end of its cycle..i forgot to add....im talking about the macbook pro 13". I recall when I was younger, (yes I am really old), all the un-bathed tree-hugging masses were protesting out in front grocery stores chanting 'NO PAPER! GO PLASTIC!, in an attempt to get people to stop wasting paper bags to bag our groceries in. We are killing all the trees!!!! It was the environMENTAL community that introduced plastic bags, the bane of modern society. Tap water was 'too polluted' to drink, so they introduced 'pure spring bottled water'. Computers were touted as the answer to the whole tree killing dilemma, since everything could be stored electronically, and no one would ever use paper, EVER, because of something called 'electronic mail'. Now, those same computers, plastic bags, and empty plastic bottles are filling up our trash dumps, and leaking all kinds of toxins in to the environment, never mind that computers eat more paper than I could have ever dreamed of if I wrote letters and paper receipts for the rest of my life. We were going to all be dead from pollution and over population by the year 2000. Look up the book '1989 population doomsday', I believe it is by Don Pendleton. A good sci-fi writer who capitalized on the paranoia. Guess what? We are still here. Now, the far left loony tunes have been pushing the 'global warming' issue for years (Al Gore got mad because he lost the election, and decided to take over the world by starting his own cult.) NEWS FLASH: Climate change is a natural occurrence, trying to 'combat' or change it is trying to change nature (you know, like changing from biodegradable paper bags to plastic ones). Or stopping the re-cycling of glass bottles for throw away plastic ones. Lets not forget the new long life environmentally correct fluorescent bulbs, that each have a small amount of mercury in them. Yes, they will last five years. Then millions of them will end up in trash dumps, leaking mercury in to our drinking water. Now it is being discovered that the 'scientific community' has been fudging 'Global warming' data, and throwing away the data they didnt like. Science is becoming more of a cult than a tool that is to be used to benefit mankind and the environment. Working to help the environment should not involve scare-mongering. This is called environmental terrorism, TERRORIZING people to bend to your twisted sense of power grabbing and control . You are no different than the Bin-laden crowd, and probably more dangerous because you have more financial backing. It needs to stop. STOP hijacking the scientific method to bend to your political or social leanings. am I correct on this? Yes, i now, fingers are hovering on the 'report abuse button' so I can be turned in to the thought police. so much for freedom of speechPaper is a renewable resource. Plastic is not. I was 'on the band wagon' and took some of the first 'environmental science' courses that came out. Even then it defied logic, but who am I to disagree with 'science'? My problem with the whole issue is RATIONAL THOUGHT, not knee-jerk reactions that cause more problems than they solve. Being that you are 20 (the ME generation) you are already at a disadvantage, because you were born with mass consumerism, and everything at your fingertips. Think of a world with no cell phones, DVD players, computers, etc, and you will see my world when I was your age. And we didn't have the huge mess we have today. Hopefully, you are one of the few who are smart enough to see the writing on the wall, and get your brain-dead peers to stop their instant gratification ways, which is digging our grave far faster than us 'old folks' could have dreamed of. moreResolved Question: Can Washington ever get over the Great Political Divide, and how?
To those who can read a political harangue and provide real insight without insults, please read on. Otherwise, this is not the question for you. Don't republicans and democrats want the same thing? Can't we agree that each side stands so firm on it's views because of adamantine nationalism? And in the end, isn't that admirable? Can't we agree on keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and kids while at the same time respecting the 2nd amendment? Can't we agree that children should be able to choose to practice their religion openly and in public while at the same time respecting the separation of church and state? Can't we agree that no one *likes* abortions, and instead focus our attention towards preventing unwanted pregnancies in the first place, by promoting BOTH contraceptives AND religious or moral teachings about undue promiscuity? Can't we agree that some government programs have worked and improved the quality of our lives, while at the same time respecting the free-market principles that our country was built upon? Conservatives, can't we respectfully disagree with The President without calling him a Muslim, or distorting his wife's face in Photoshop, or questioning his patriotism? Liberals, can't we respectfully disagree with GWB without calling him stupid, or capitalizing on that horrible car crash that happened to his wife, or questioning his patriotism? Doesn't this speak to our maturity as a nation; our intelligence as an electorate? Can't we just agree that Fox is biased towards the right, and MSNBC is biased towards the left, and realize that the pundits are in the business of selling sensationalism, and that whatever opinion Rush Limbaugh or Keith Olbermann shares is going to be more polarizing than productive? Can't we agree that most often than not, the 24 hour cable news cycle will appeal to the lowest common denominator just to get ratings? Can't we focus our attention towards talking to each other instead of "talking points?" The Founding Fathers gave us the desired "end" when they wrote the constitution, but they left the "means" ambiguous and malleable for a reason. They recognized that as the nation grew, and times would change, the clarity between right and wrong would become blurred, and through constructive political discourse we as a nation would make the right choice. The Founders didn't write about illegal music downloading in the constitution, but they gave us the tools, the balances of power, and the absence of dogmatism for a growing nation to deal with growing problems. But, instead of recognizing the blur between right and wrong, we let the talking heads convince us that everything in politics black and white, perfect or miserable, indeed, good or evil. They convince us that a senator voted against gun control, without telling us that there were unconstitutional provisions in the bill. They tell us that a senator voted against saving the lives of unborn children, even though there were amendments to the bill that would've overturned Roe v. Wade, and would've defined abortion doctors as criminals. We get just enough half truths to make us hate the other side, instead of working with them to pursue the common good, instead of realizing that sometimes Liberals have a factual point, and sometimes, but not always, Conservative values may trump that point. Which brings me to my question: What can Washington do, or for that matter, what can we citizens do, to fix the fact our legislative process is inundated with gridlock? How can we make the greatest deliberative body on the planet focus on pragmatism rather than polls? No doubt there will be those who post an answer here which simply blames the other party. And some of them might have legitimate points- I am guilty of attacking the other party thousands of times on the grounds of factual merit and downright moral necessity. But for once lets put partisanship aside and share some real insight. Thanks in advance. moreResolved Question: Will the Global Warming Fraud be Viewed as Another Obama Failure?
As the news of collusion and outright fraud leak out among the global warming scientific community, will this fraud be viewed as another Obama Failure because it occurred on his watch? What repercussions will this fraud have in the next 2 election cycles? (2010 & 2012) moreResolved Question: Ever hear the joke about the brain transplant?
Disclaimer: In case you are going to take this story personally, it is a joke. So put the brakes on your offense cycle. Eat some popcorn while you read these jokes, to keep you from going berserk. Get out your laugh meter and see if you can't join in the fun, instead of calling the old maid's squad. thanks Have a chuckle? Brain Transplant. A mid-level Blonde executive was so frustrated at being passed over for promotion year after year, that, in frustration, he went to a brain-transplant center in the hope of raising his I.Q. 20 points. After a battery of physical and psychological tests, he was told by the center's director that he was an acceptable candidate. "That's great!" the executive said. "But I understand that this procedure can be really expensive." "Yes, sir, it can," the director replied. "An ounce of accountant's brain for example, costs one thousand dollars; an ounce of an economist's brain costs two thousand; an ounce of a corporate president's is forty-five thousand. An ounce of a Democrat's brain is seventy-five thousand dollars." "Seventy-five thousand dollars for an ounce of a Democrat's brain? Why on earth is that?" "Do you have any idea," the director asked, "how many Democrats we would have to kill to get an ounce?" ========== Blonde in a truck accident. There are two brunettes and three blondes. The brunettes are in the front seat and the blondes are in the back of the truck. Suddenly the truck goes of into the water below the bridge. The two brunettes quickly open the doors and jump out of the truck. About a minute later the three blondes come up out of the water gasping for air. One of the two brunettes asked the blondes what took them so long to come up? And one of the three blondes answer back, "We couldn't get the tailgate open!" ======== Blonde's Head A Blonde went to see the doctor to get the results of his brain scan. The doctor said: “I have some bad news for you. First, we have discovered that your brain has two sides: the left side and the right side.” Smart Blonde interrupted, “Well, that's normal, isn't it? I thought everybody had two sides to their brain?” The doctor replied, “That's true". "But your brain is very unusual because on the left side there isn't anything right, while on the right side there isn't anything left.” ======== moreTop Cycle News Links
