Open Question: L.A. eatery charged with serving whale meat closes. Your thoughts?
By Dan Whitcomb Dan Whitcomb – 1 hr 30 mins ago LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A Los Angeles-area sushi restaurant that made international headlines after it was charged with serving endangered whale meat will close forever as a "self-imposed punishment," according to a statement on its website. The parent company of the The Hump, a popular Santa Monica restaurant, and sushi chef Kiyoshiro Yamamoto were charged on March 11 with violating the Marine Mammal Protection Act, which makes it illegal to sell whale meat. Federal prosecutors have said that the case stemmed from informants who were served whale meat at The Hump in October 2009 and evolved into a sting operation by U.S. wildlife and customs officials. The federal charge carries a maximum penalty of one year in federal prison and a maximum fine of $100,000 for an individual or $200,000 for an organization. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/us_usa_whale_sushiI'm sure PETA is all over this one. moreOpen Question: How do you get to these story links from www.yahoo.com?
Below are two links that were sent to me. Theye are very recent, just a couple of hours ago so they are not in some obscure archive somewhere. Since yahoo doesn't put the path of a given webpage at the top of all it's pages like some sites do, it's maddening when you can't click on ANYTHING to find the article from www.yahoo.com and I need to know how to get to it from the main yahoo home page in order to do RSS feeds and other reasons I won't go into. I tried clicking on tabs and menus like Yahoo Finance, Opinion, Government, Health Care, anything I could think of, and the articles cannot be found without the direct link. This is very unusual for a website. I'm challenging anyone reading this to give me the path or order of exactly what you clicked on, starting from the homepage of www.yahoo.com, to find these web pages. It's basically the same story, but in two different places, that's why the two URL's. Doing a search on the headline keywords is cheating and doesn't help me. I need the path for both starting from www.yahoo.com. GIve me both if you can, but even one is better than nothing. Here they are: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Medicare-fix-would-push-apf-2700343586.html?x=0&.v=2 http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100319/ap_on_bi_ge/us_health_overhaul_deficit_1 moreOpen Question: if nancy grace were an animal... what animal would she be?

"While the broadcast networks (even Fox) passed on the show she’s mounting with “Survivor”/”Apprentice” producer Mark Burnett, it’s apparently finding some traction with basic cable. Variety reports A&E and Discovery are among those bidding on the project, and “a decision could be made in the next day or two.” Reports indicate the series would follow Palin, who last summer made headlines accusing David Letterman of joking about raping her 14-year-old daughter, and her family as they explore the state Palin governed for 18 months. Presumably the new show would follow a more sanitized version of the Palin clan than the one recently described by almost son-in-law Levi Johnston or E!" http://www.aintitcool.com/node/44329?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed:+AintItCoolNews+(Ain't+It+Cool+News) moreOpen Question: why is present perfect used in some cases while simple past in others while expanding news headline?

I loved that channel and the format! If I watched an hour's worth of show, I had a pretty good grasp of what was happening in the world. Even if they only gave us 1/2 hour every two hours, that would still cut down on how much time creatures like Nancy Grace would have to try to bludgeon the humanity out of people's lives and souls. Every time I have the misfortune to stumble onto her show, Ms. Grace isn't discussing the news; she's extolling the horror of yet another dead baby, in microscopic detail. Are any of you guys reading this, old enough to remember "Chicken Noodle News?" Who's with me? Let's try to get HLN back from the freak show mentality! moreResolved Question: What does this quote about Health Insurance mean?
(The Headline - "2 Calif. health insurers to pay $13M for dropping clients") "This fine sends the message that if you come into California to sell health insurance, YOU MUST PLAY BY THE RULES," said Cindy Ehnes, the director of the state's Department of Managed Health Care." It should be. The reason being that Hammas have fired 3 rockets into Israel over the past few days -- entirely unprovoked. What we'll see today or sometime soon will be an Israeli retaliation of some sort. Since the media doesn't report these "innocent" rocket attacks and ONLY report the Israelis "aggresive" retaliation, the world only sees Israelis hammering down Palestinian targets but never sees the CAUSE. Today's death of an innocent foreign worker in Israel should have been in the headlines, it will explain what's about to happen to the Palestinians. Why.. HOW.. isn't this being reported? Doesn't anyone see how ridiculous this is? If a bully beat you up and school every day at recess and you finally punched him in the face and were expelled because your teacher only saw your reaction -- would that be fair? This is one the main reasons this conflict continues. It seems the western media truly hates Israel.@ Powdered Toast Man, instead of all those words you posted, why not just call me a "whiny Zionist" or some other ignorant and defamatory title? Douche. http://money.cnn.com/2006/05/01/news/economy/immigration_economy/index.htm --according to this, the benefits of illegal immigration outweighs the bad. and here is an article from economists (your same capitalist buddies) who say Illegal immigration helps much more than it hurts: http://www.ggu.edu/about/headlines/attachment/04-04-06+Business+Week+-+Connelly.pdf so why all the misinformation on illegals? is it mostly racism? why can't we go back to an open borders policies like back in the 1900's? is it because Illegals aren't white (thats what I'm thinking)? Beat Street Breakdown, Raah! Hip Hop! Beat Street The king of the beat You see him rocking that beat from across the street And Huh Huh! Beat Street is a lesson too, because you can't let the Streets beat you! Well a picture can express a thousand words to describe all the beauty of life you give And if the world was yours to do over, I know you'd paint a better place to live Where the colours would swirl and the boys and girls can grow in peace and harmony And where murals stand on walls so grand as far as the eyes are able to see, Ha! I never knew art til I saw your face and there'll never be one to take your place 'Cause each and every time you touch the spray paint can Michelangelo's soul controls your hand Then serenades of blue and red and the beauty of the rainbow fills your head Crescendo of colours hang in tune, Man why oh why d'ya have to die so soon? Ashes to ashes and dust to dust, where the good die young it's all thy must 'Cause as life must live, death must die and the tear shall fall from the living eye, Huh! The teardrops fall for the state of mind of the beautiful lady that you left behind In love and alone, but now you're dead, and she still can't get you out of her head, Huh! More tears fall for all you've done, trying to be a good father to your only son But now who's gonna make sure that he's fed, put a shirt on his back and a roof overhead? Tell me who's gonna dream the impossible dream of the beautiful cities in the islands genes? When your works of art brought into being all that the ghetto stopped you from seeing Bums on the sidewalk, garbage in the streets, abandoned buildings, bricks of concrete The ladies on the corner are selling their bodies, and everybody wants a part in that party I'm hanging out tough, rocking late at night, running wild in the town of the neon light You either play some ball or stand in the hall Huh! You gotta make something outta nothing at all I'm sitting in the classroom learning the rules and it says you can't do graffiti in school They can't be wrong in the hallowed hall, so my notebook turned into a brick wall The heart of a lion and the courage of three, and the mind of a man much wiser than me You're the soul of the brother who won't come back Who died in my arms on the railroad track 'Cause I'm caught in the rat race, looking for my own space There's gotta be a better place for you and me There's pie in the sky, and an eye for an eye Some people gotta die just to be free You search for justice and what do you find? You find just us on the unemployment line You find just us sweating from dawn to dusk There's no justice, there's Huh, just us, Ha! Still life urban masterpiece, your trademark was written on trains and walls A million dollar gift only God released, and yet you got killed for nothing at all So after this there'll be no more hard times, no more bad times and no more pain No more chump change, none of that bull Just movies, museums and the hall of fame So all you Hip Hops get on up, and let's take it to the top where we belong 'Cause the age of the Beat Street wave is here Everybody let's sing along, now c'mon, say 'Ho!' ('Ho!'), Say 'Ho!' ('Ho!') And to let me know I'm rocking the microphone everybody say 'Ramo!' ('Ramo!') 'Ramo!' ('Ramo!') Raah! A newspaper burns in the sand, and the headlines say 'Man destroys Man!' Extra! Extra! Read all the bad news on the war for peace that everybody would lose The rise and fall, the last great empire, the sound of the whole world caught on fire The ruthless struggle, the desperate gamble The game that left the whole world in shambles The cheats, the lies, the alibis And the foolish attempt to conquer the skies Lost in space, and what is it worth, huh? The president just forgot about Earth Spending multi billions, and maybe even trillions The cost of weapons ran into zillions There's gold in the street, and diamonds under feet And the children in Africa don't even eat Flies on their faces, they're living like mice And the houses even make the ghetto look nice, Huh! The water tastes funny, it's forever too sunny And they work all month and don't make no money A fight for power, a nuclear shower And people shout out in the darkest hour Of sights unseen and voices unheard And finally the bomb gets the last word Christians killed Muslims, and Germans killed Jews And everybody's bodies are used and abused, Huh! Minds are poisoned and souls are polluted Superiority complex is deep rooted Leeches and lice's, and people got prices Egomaniacs control the self-righteous Nothing is sacred and nothing is pure So the revelation of death is our cure Hitler and Caesar, Custer and Reagan Napoleon, Castro, Mussolini and Begin Ghengis Khan and the Shah of Iran Mixed with the blood of the weaker man The peoples in terror, the leaders made the error And now they can't even look in the mirror 'Cause we gotta suffer while things moreResolved Question: do people hate it when there is a cut and dry explanation on how health reform will affect you? Chamber of Commerce has ignored the small business owner, who will be able to have more affordable insurance and will be able to be involved in national insurance exchange with his/her employees. (warning long read)?
I ask this because I see many people on here ( and I hate to generalize, but it seems mostly Christians in the US ) who disparage modern culture. And lest anyone Nostaligize 1952, it was still close enough to the horrors of WW2, the threat of nuclear weapons still new and freshly terrifying, a time when all kinds of writers were commenting on wide spread alienation, a rebirth of existentialism, racial tension, red scares, and gang violence in New York, LA and elsewhere (sure, the Sharks and Jets of West Side Story seem tame, but go back and read headlines, the gangs then could probably hold their own with Crips and Bloods from 1980s, or the 18th Streeters of today). Robert A. Heinlein wrote this item in 1952. His wife, Virginia Heinlein, chose to read it when she accepted NASA's Distinguished Public Service Medal on October 6, 1988, on the Grand Master's behalf (it was a posthumous award). Mrs. Heinlein received a standing ovation. "I am not going to talk about religious beliefs but about matters so obvious that it has gone out of style to mention them. I believe in my neighbors. I know their faults, and I know that their virtues far outweigh their faults. "Take Father Michael down our road a piece. I'm not of his creed, but I know that goodness and charity and lovingkindness shine in his daily actions. I believe in Father Mike. If I'm in trouble, I'll go to him." "My next-door neighbor is a veterinary doctor. Doc will get out of bed after a hard day to help a stray cat. No fee--no prospect of a fee--I believe in Doc. "I believe in my townspeople. You can know on any door in our town saying, 'I'm hungry,' and you will be fed. Our town is no exception. I've found the same ready charity everywhere. But for the one who says, 'To heck with you - I got mine,' there are a hundred, a thousand who will say, "Sure, pal, sit down." "I know that despite all warnings against hitchhikers I can step up to the highway, thumb for a ride and in a few minutes a car or a truck will stop and someone will say, 'Climb in Mac - how far you going?' "I believe in my fellow citizens. Our headlines are splashed with crime yet for every criminal there are 10,000 honest, decent, kindly men. If it were not so, no child would live to grow up. Business could not go on from day to day. Decency is not news. It is buried in the obituaries, but is a force stronger than crime. I believe in the patient gallentry of nurses and the tedious sacrifices of teachers. I believe in the unseen and unending fight against desperate odds that goes on quietly in almost every home in the land. "I believe in the honest craft of workmen. Take a look around you. There never were enough bosses to check up on all that work. From Independence Hall to the Grand Coulee Dam, these things were built level and square by craftsmen who were honest in their bones. "I believe that almost all politicians are honest. . .there are hundreds of politicians, low paid or not paid at all, doing their level best without thanks or glory to make our system work. If this were not true we would never have gotten past the 13 colonies. "You and I are free today because of endless unnamed heroes from Valley Forge to the Yalu River. I believe in -- I am proud to belong to -- the United States. Despite shortcomings from lynchings to bad faith in high places, our nation has had the most decent and kindly internal practices and foreign policies to be found anywhere in history. "And finally, I believe in my whole race, the human race. Yellow, white, black, red, brown. In the honesty, courage, intelligence, durability, and goodness of the overwhelming majority of my brothers and sisters everywhere on this planet. I am proud to be a human being. I believe that we have come this far by the skin of our teeth. That we always make it just by the skin of our teeth, but that we will always make it. Survive. Endure. I believe that this hairless embryo with the aching, oversize brain case and the opposable thumb, this animal barely up from the apes will endure. Will endure longer than his home planet -- will spread out to the stars and beyond, carrying with him his honesty and his insatiable curiosity, his unlimited courage and his noble essential decency. "This I believe with all my heart." moreResolved Question: Doesn't it annoy you when you get this message...?

Several men are in federal custody after being stopped in the Valley. Pablo Eliosa Lara is accused of knowingly transporting undocumented immigrants for financial gain. Virginia State Police stopped Lara last week on Interstate 81 in Shenandoah County. A federal investigator says Lara, who is himself considered an undocumented immigrant, was driving 12 undocumented immigrants from Arizona to New Jersey. Some of them were looking for work. This isn't the only recent instance when people have been accused of transporting undocumented immigrants and have been caught in the Valley. Late last month, a man was sentenced to 36 months in prison for a similar crime. In this most recent case, investigators say Lara has been caught several times near the U.S.-Mexican border. According to an affidavit, Lara was allowed to leave the country. An investigator says Lara also admitted to transporting undocumented immigrants one time before. State police serving Shenandoah County say these cases aren't common. They say they only occur once or twice a year. Lara is due in court next week. http://www.whsv.com/news/headlines/87399717.html moreResolved Question: How do you feel about hunting and trapping wolves? Do you mind if they eat a teacher or two?
I am a long time Alaskan hunter and trapper. Do these facts burst the bubble that wolves never harm humans?? This is today's Fairbanks News Miner Headlines: Teacher in Alaska was likely killed by wolves by Dan Joling / The Associated Press 16 hrs ago | 3488 views | 11 | 23 | | ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A teacher jogging along a rural Alaska road was killed in an animal attack and authorities say wolves are the chief suspects. The body of Candice Berner, 32, was found Monday off the road a mile outside the village of Chignik Bay on the Alaska Peninsula, which is about 474 miles southwest of Anchorage. Authorities said the body had been dragged off the road to the village's lagoon and was surrounded by wolf tracks. In an autopsy report Thursday, the Alaska State Medical Examiner listed "multiple injuries due to animal mauling" as the cause of death for Berner, a special education teacher originally from Slippery Rock, Pa., who began working in Alaska in August. The autopsy could not say which animals, said Col. Audie Holloway, head of the Alaska State Troopers, but wolves are the chief suspect. "There's no other carnivores in that area that are out and active," he said. Wolves, bears, foxes and other wildlife have disturbed bodies in the Alaska wilderness, but Holloway said the autopsy ruled out other causes that may have killed Berner. Additional tests could tie the death to wolves, Holloway said. "If we're able to actually prove which animal, it will be through some kind of DNA analysis or through some expert that can maybe testify or explain how they know that it's a wolf," he said. Troopers have plenty of circumstantial evidence leading them to point the finger at wolves. "There were wolf tracks all around the body, and drag marks associated with those wolf tracks," Holloway said. Tracks indicated more than one wolf was involved. "From the number of prints at the scene, we're thinking there probably were, possibly, two, three, maybe four," Holloway said. Wolf attacks on humans are rare and there has not been a documented case of a wolf killing a human in Alaska. But concerns over the large predators persist. In 2007, villagers in the western Eskimo village of Marshall posted sentries at night on the town periphery to keep wolves out after a pack of wolves attacked and killed six sled dogs. A wolf killed by villagers turned out to be rabid. In Chignik Bay, a community of 105 residents, villagers were already were on alert because of wolves running boldly nearby, said Johnny Lind, president of the village council. In comments Thursday before the autopsy results were announced, Lind said wolf involvement was apparent. "It's obvious. Goodness. It's obvious," he said. Since Tuesday, people were not traveling alone, school children were accompanied to school and armed patrols on snowmobiles were looking for wolves, he said. "Everybody's kind of staying close to the village," he said. Multiple calls left for the spokeswoman of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Jennifer Yuhas, were not returned Thursday. Most adult male wolves in Alaska weigh 85 to 115 pounds but they occasionally reach 145 pounds, according to the Department of Fish and Game. Females average 5 to 10 pounds lighter than males and rarely weigh more than 110 pounds. Wolves reach adult size by about 1 year of age, and the largest wolves occur where prey is abundant year round. Rick Luthi, the Lake and Peninsula School District's chief operating officer, said Berner during her short time in Alaska tried to take in as many experiences as she could. The district distributed a photo of her on a district outing catching crab. "She wasn't going to miss anything about living in that area," he said. Under 5 feet tall, Berner had boxed and lately had been training for long-distance running. "She was a gymnast by early training and was in very good physical condition," Luthi said. Myself and others have been asking that same question. Tiger Woods was plastered all over the headlines and he wasn't even accused of raping those skanks. They slept with him willingly. This article is very interesting and may be hitting it squarely on the mark. http://www.trentonian.com/articles/2010/03/11/opinion/doc4b986ba05d221449192942.txtDid you even read the article? There are TWO women saying that Ben sexually assaulted them. The police said that the latest potential victim was "hysterical" when she came into the station and reported it. Coming forward to tell of a rape or sexually assault is not an easy thing to do for most women. Most don't want their names all in the news because of all the negative attention it would get. The other reason sometimes, is because if they tell on a big star like Ben, they're gonna get a lot of hate. Especially if the player is considered a "hero" in the town. straws that broke the camels back (or however the expression goes) christian supremacists continue to make this country uninhabitable for anyone who is not one of them. Canada is nice and would allow me more frequent trips to visit my mother that lives in New York. However, it's cold and I'm more of a warm weather and beach kind of girl. I lived in Japan for four years and it was a wonderful place. I loved the weather in Okinawa. I was also wondering about New Zealand and Australia. Another question I have is how difficult would it be to apply for citizenship to one of these countries? At any rate, I'm out of here. The front page of today's issue of Pravda has two main headlines above the fold: "Credit Market Springs to Life" "Arrests Force Taliban Flight" We all know that liberals are destroying the economy, therefore the Credit Market can't "spring to life" with Obama in charge. We all know that liberals actually going after terrorists in Pakistan is a bad thing, therefore capturing Afghan militants in Pakistan can't possibly "force Taliban flight." WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Mexico asked the United States on Tuesday to move forward with the creating a proposal to end a ban on cross-border trucking in violation of the North American Free Trade Agreement. "We continue searching for any opportunity for dialogue and interaction with the (Obama) administration and Congress," The Mexican Embassy said in a statement, according to Mexico's official Notimex news agency. "We urge them to present a specific proposal to resolve the trucking impasse." Under NAFTA, cross-border trucking that would allow Mexican big rigs onto U.S. highways was supposed to begin in 1995. But safety and union concerns led to the United States' non-compliance. A pilot program that breathed life back into the issue was implemented briefly, but canceled a year ago because of lack of funding. In retaliation, Mexico raised tariffs on 90 U.S. products worth at least $400 million since last March, according to Notimex. "We understand the sense of urgency, we're working as fast and conscientiously as possible to see if we can reach an acceptable resolution," U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk said at the National Press Club Tuesday. Kirk addressed the issue directly with Mexican President Felipe Calderon during a recent visit to Mexico. Mexico acknowledged that the United States has expressed a commitment to resolving the issue, but wants a specific set of actions, the Mexican Embassy said. http://www.wibw.com/nationalnews/headlines/87176007.html moreVoting Question: Is something wrong with my yahoo mail?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100310/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_israel_palestinians * In 1979, he shared Carter's starry-eyed belief that the fall of the shah in Iran and the advent of the ayatollahs represented progress for human rights. Throughout the hostage crisis, as US diplomats were daily paraded blindfolded in front of television cameras and threatened with execution, he opposed strong action against the terrorist mullahs and preached dialogue. * Throughout the 1980s. Biden opposed President Ronald Reagan's proactive policy against the Soviet Union. Biden was all for détente - which, in practice, meant Western subsidies that would have enabled the moribund USSR to cling to life and continue doing mischief. * In 1990, Biden found it difficult to support President George Bush's decision to use force to kick Saddam Hussein's army of occupation out of Kuwait. * A decade-plus later, the senator did vote for the liberation of Iraq from Saddamite tyranny. But as soon as terrorists started challenging the new democratic system in Iraq, he switched sides and became a critic of the whole war effort. He claimed that the Iraq war was lost and suggested that the US partition the newly liberated country into three or more mini-states. Biden's misreading of the situation in Iraq shows that experience is no substitute for judgment. He judged the situation on the basis of headlines and CNN footage - not the long-term, geo-strategic interests of the United States. In short, he lacked what President Harry Truman called "strategic patience." * For more than a decade, Biden has adopted an ambivalent attitude towards the Islamic Republic in Tehran, now emerging as the chief challenger to US interests in the Middle East. Biden's links with pro-Tehran lobbies in the US and his support for "unconditional dialogue" with the mullahs echo Obama's own wrong-headed promise to circumvent the current multilateral efforts by seeking direct US-Iran talks, excluding the Europeans as well as Russia and China. Had Biden had his way, "the Evil Empire" would still be around and Saddam Hussein still in power. The US would still be begging the mullahs of Tehran for forgiveness of unspecified "past sins" - and more American hostages would be seized in the Middle East while the mullahs celebrate their first atomic bombs.SAD CAT YOU DUMB FUUUUCK! my homework says: Pick out a famous religious leader during this period of American history(American prior to Columbus - Lexigton & Concord) and design a newspaper headline with an accompanying article on " current news" surround him/her. The article needs to include information about the persons's life and activities. I don't understand really good, I've got my sources but i don't know how to put my research into a newspaper headline. I really need your help guys, this project is for tomorrow and is worth 100 points, i also have to do an interview but i can do that by my own. I just need this little help from you all. I appreciate it so much. Here my research: Winthrop, John - 1588–1649, governor of the Massachusetts Bay colony, b. Edwardstone, near Groton, Suffolk, England. Of a landowning family, he studied at Trinity College, Cambridge, came into a family fortune, and became a government administrator with strong Puritan leanings. A member of the Massachusetts Bay Company, he led the group that arranged for the removal of the company's government to New England and was chosen (1629) governor of the proposed colony. He arrived (1630) in the ship Arbella at Salem and shortly founded on Shawmut peninsula the settlement that became Boston. He was—with the possible exception of John Cotton—the most distinguished citizen of Massachusetts Bay colony, serving as governor some 12 times. He helped to shape the theocratic policy of the colony and opposed broad democracy. It was while he was deputy governor and Sir Henry Vane (1613–62) was governor that Winthrop bitterly and successfully opposed the antinomian beliefs of Anne Hutchinson and her followers, who were supported by Vane. The force of his influence on the history of Massachusetts was enormous. Winthrop's journal, which was edited by J. K. Hosmer and published in 1908 as The History of New England from 1630 to 1649 is one of the most valuable of American historical sources. http://www.questia.com/library/john-winthrop.jsp Winthrop, John (1588–1649), leader of the Puritan settlement in New England and first governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony.Between 1602 and 1620, John Winthrop attended Trinity College, Cambridge; studied law; was married three times and widowed twice; took over his father's estate at Groton Manor; served as justice of the peace; and became an acknowledged Puritan. Throughout the 1620s, economic pressures, political crises, and his intensifying engagement with Puritanism led Winthrop to despair of England's future and to join other Puritans planning an escape to America. As governor of the newly formed Massachusetts Bay Company, his sermon in 1630 on board the Arbella —“A Modell of Christian Charity”—defined the Puritans’ mission to create a biblical commonwealth in covenant with God that would “be as a Citty upon a hill.” Winthrop's Journal documents his skillful guidance and leadership during the first two decades of settlement. A generally moderate man, he tried to balance the authority of the governors with the liberties and interests of the governed, seeking harmony in the face of conflicts and emphasizing communal over private interests. Deeply religious, he endeavored also to balance his lifelong quest for assurance of grace with an appreciation of life's pleasures, opposing Anne Hutchinson's claims to absolute spiritual assurance and Roger Williams's perfectionism. His wisdom, intelligence, and political acumen helped insure the survival and success of the Puritan experiment in America. ORLANDO,FL--In a stunning move announced moments ago, Total Non-Stop Action (TNA) officials have announced the contract signing of perhaps the most famous wrestler of the past 10 years, The Rock. But The Rock, born Dwayne Johnson, will not wrestle under the name "The Rock," said TNA official Jeff Jarrett. While Johnson's ring name has yet to be decided, Jarrett promised it would be something, "Largely forgettable." "It has nothing to do with copyrights," explained Jarrett. "Johnson has the rights to use the name Rock. We just prefer he not use it. We're aware that Johnson is most well-known by that name, and that's precisely why we want to change it. You know, put our own TNA stamp on it." The decision to re-name the Rock does indeed follow the company's recent actions when it comes to changing wrestlers' names who are better known by their previous names. Regarding Johnson, Jarrett said, "We're paying huge money for Rock. We're talking many millions of dollars. If we're going to spend that kind of money, we're going to take the time to think of a really good name for him." When asked why TNA wouldn't just use the name he is most well known by, Jarrett sharply snapped, "That's too obvious. You're not a student of the wrestling business like I am. Sure, we could headline Rock against DDP and draw 100,000 buys on PPV, but that's not why TNA is in business. We're not here to make money. We're here to get me over and do things my way. And I say Rock is not going to use the name Rock." While nothing has been set in stone, possible ring names bandied about for Johnson are rumored to include The Maivia, Bullwinkle, The Brahma, The Bull, The Dominator of Nations, The Rundown, The Tall Walker, Koko B Cool, The Scorpion King of Wrestling, and The Mummy. There has also been talk of bringing back the Johnsons tag team, who debuted with TNA three years ago as two men dressed up as penises. "Naturally, Dwayne would return as a long, lost, Johnson triplet. There's great potential there, because Rock naturally looks like a penis already," said Jarrett. moreTop Headline News Links
