Organize Papers Questions asked

Open Question: I need your opinion on my paper?

Reducing Gang violence Teenagers in many American cities have been involved in more gangs in the last five years than ever before. These gangs of teens have been committing a lot of violent crimes. The victims of these crimes are both gang members and people outside of gangs. Many people do not want to travel to areas in our cities because of the danger from this problem. For this terrible situation to stop, it is going to take a combined effort on the part of many people. Excellent, supervised after-school programs, more jobs available for teens, and healthy family relationships will go a long way towards ending this crisis in our society. Gangs have been a problem in most cities for a really long time. Many people have attempted to stop gang violence in their area but have been unsuccessful in doing so. Many ideas have been introduced but never followed through. To help cease gang violence in American cities, there would be to have more and better after-school programs for teens. If our communities had more supervised programs for these teens to go to, it would allow theses teens to have a safe haven to be a part of. True these programs may only occupy teens for a short period of time, but it will in some ways allow them to know that there are other things to do besides be in a gang and getting into trouble. The program counselors can have the chance to reach out to these teens and gain their trust. To have someone to come to and not be judged is very important to teens these days. These programs can give these teens the support they have been lacking in their lives that may have led up to the point of joining a gang. Activities can range from doing artwork to playing sports. Allowing these teens to be involved in something that really interests them, would allow them to know that we care what they think. More jobs need to be available to teens to give them the opportunity to be responsible and to have a way to earn money in an honest way. More jobs in our area need to be available and set aside especially for teens. Most companies in our area will not hire teens or even someone without a high school diploma or GED. These companies need to work with us in this matter to help make our communities become safer. To give these teens jobs would alleviate the problem of burglary and vandalism. Besides giving these teens a job, these employers can work with us in the community be supporting these teens and letting them know we care. By supporting our teens and helping them grow, we are letting others know we do not want any violence or gang activity in our community. The most important part in our plan would involve the families not only of these teens but every family in our community. Most young teens turn to violence or to gangs when something isn’t right in their home. It could be the lack of a father figure or even the lack of any parenting at all. These teens believe gangs are the only way to belong to someone or to be loved. But that isn’t true at all. Families need to come together to help support and raise all children in our neighborhood. Forming a loving and caring alias for our teens would help tremendously. We need to open up our hearts and arms for our teens. We should educate all parents on how we can provide all the essentials to help keep our kids safe, happy, and loved. These resources can come from parenting classes or even programs offered at our local churches. The problem of teen gang violence can be eliminated. It will, however, take time, money, and a combined effort on the part of many people. Organized, free, after-school programs such as: sport teams and games; art, music, and drama activities; internships in local area businesses and professional organizations; and interesting volunteer activities in the community would help engage teens in worthwhile pursuits outside of school hours. More job opportunities for teens, especially those funded by state and local programs, would offer income for teens as well as productive work for the community. Outreach to families through schools, community organizations, and places of worship would help activities that could improve family closeness, helping teens work on their problems, instead of taking them to the streets. If these programs can be implemented, we will see a decrease in teen gang activity and safer streets and neighborhoods for all.  more

Resolved Question: Worker's Comp: employer not complying with Doctor's orders for Light Duty, refused assignment, lost job?

I injured myself at work nearly 6 months ago, it was properly documented immediately and i was seen by Physician. work tried to pressure myself and the Doctor I was seeing at the time in order to loosen my restrictions and return me to my job. there is alot more to that, however i stated i wanted a 2nd opinion and changed Doctors to avoid this. After a couple of months of light duty, they started pressuring me by creating a Hostile environment, discarded my work with my signature and license involvement, snide comments, ect. They then told me they were 'short on staff' and assigned me to perform my regular duties as a nurse and told me that it did not interfere with the physician's orders to perform specifically designated tasks that were on a checklist. I explained to them that none of my duties were on that list and they stated that they felt they were close. I was to remain sitting without bending and perform tasks such as answering phone, organizing papers, ect. not close to pushing 1000lb med cart, lifting patients to perform treatments, ect, ect. not even reasonable. i declined the assignment because my nursing license requires me to complete an assignment after accepting it in order to not abandon care. also, if a patient requires rapid response like CPR, i am obligated after accepting to perform such which further exposes me to worsening injury. if i cannot accommodate, how can i be their nurse? huh, anyway it's much nastier than this. so i declined assignment and lost job "quit", declined available work. months later, injury is just as bad and Dr. suspects I developed fibromyalgia at site due to injury trauma. I know people probably whine about this all the time, but this has changed my life. I am in constant pain. I have lost thousands of dollars in wages i have not been compensated for. WC stated that they offered me an assignment "close" to what the MD ordered and i refused it, therefore obviously i am not entitled to monetary compensation and cannot accept another Nursing job d/t restrictions. Time for a Lawyer? Waste of time? Just does not seem fair. The question is whether or not seeking legal representation for the loss of wages is frivolous, and what about my pain and suffering for six months.  more

Resolved Question: I'm tired of hearing my bf calling every hour about menial things!?

I had a lot of errands to run today. I told my boyfriend we'll talk later in the day when we're done with everything. Despite this, he calls me every 1/2 hour to tell me what's in the stores, if he should buy this for this function, if I heard something in the news...Just B*LLS***T... We got into a fight because I wasn't paying to what he said, as I was trying to mop my floor and pay some bills every time he called. How can I tell him nicely I don't have time to sit on the phone paying attention to every little thing he's saying? I have told him I have things to do and I'll call him later, but he calls to ask about something that I can't even think about because I'm in the middle of paper work and organizing.  more

Voting Question: What job is right for me?

I am so confused on what to do for a future career>.< I wanted to be an event planner because I like things organized and I just like organizing events,I do it all the time whenever I have the idea that i'll be going on a trip somewhere or whenever I actually do. then I wanted to possibly be an editor because I enjoy sorting through papers (I do this in english class all the time) and correcting them, telling people's strengths and weaknesses and what they should edit. my dad is pretty strict so its hard to try and make him proud which I would like to do. Im a quite a shy person but im pretty confident in myself and I would like something that does not involve much..human interaction should I say? (like a presenter or something). I care about other people more so then myself, I like having things organized, I absolutely love music (if that helps),I love kids, im average level of intelligence and I guess thats it<.<.... so what type of jobs would be right for me?  more

Resolved Question: Is this teacher flirting or being 2 friendly?

okay so im like the best student in the class so he is always giving me special attention. We took finals before the end of the year and he said i didn't have to take it cause i was already smart enough.(i was the only one who didn't take it) he asked me to go to the office to get to get the test printed. i had it printed on pink paper cause its my favorite color. when i brought it to his desk he spanked me on my behind and called me a naughty girl. I found that weird but he was smiling so i just assumed he was joking around. but then he asked me to sit next to him behind his desk and help him organize some things. well my uniform skirt was kind short and he started rubbing my thighs and stuff while he was reading some papers. i thought that was weird 2 but im not sure. is this flirtatious behavior or is this just my imagination? btw the school year has been over for 2 weeks this happened leading up to the end of school and sometimes he will do stuff like kiss me on my forehead and hes like 30 and im 15  more

Resolved Question: Still More Rhyme Clues?

I tried to make some of these a little harder cause we've got mega-geniuses like Linda L. out there tearing through these like they were fruity pebbles. And then you've got wow_bill who just bypasses the whole clue deciphering process altogether and taps right into my cerebral cortex with a long distance mind-meld. And matics101 to whom this kind of tomfoolery is such childs-play that he does them while writing his masters thesis on ancient intergalactic veterinary psychology as he's submerged in a tub full of dihydrogen monoxide and simultaneously arranges the Brandenburg Concertos for 14 bone saws and a Japanese Koto, compensating for Doppler shift of a 300 mph Leslie speaker ferris wheel synchronized with the rotation of 4000 ton hamster wheel discovered on top of the Giza plateau. And that's just his left brain. So I made these a little more challenging. 1. One who argues about the Earths longest line of latitude. 2. A spoof on a fund for the needy 3. Desiccated clam soup (just add water) 4. Shellfish of organized crime. 5. A pancake in a hobos luggage. 6. A hazardous Italian spinach dish kept isolated to prevent contagion. 7. Sexual climax of a ghost. 8. Polyurethane gimp. 9. A nice thing under glass. 10. What an Ozzie might say to a toilet that squirts. 11. Skilled hand-crafter who takes a political side. 12. Sticky arboreal resin on a leg joint (two words each). 13. Dense patch of growth for a chirping bug. 14. Snowstormasaurus. 15. Retro-futuristic style that reverberates in a tunnel. 16. Jewish cold beet soup that’s been run over by a popular German sportscar. 17. A Korean car for driving to church (American Pronunciation). 18. Jazz singer Mel as a culinary expert. 19. Italian filmakers pasta 20. Fancy paper serving thingy soaked in a canola product 2. Rudespill Goodwill? (No) 2. Charity Parody 8. Rubber Flubber? (Hardly) 8. Plastic Spastic 9. Boaster Coaster? (As if) 9. Pleasant Pheasant 19. Benedettios Spaghetti-Os? (I think not) 19. Fellini Linguini But the alacrity and aplomb with which you boldy blunder where no man would have the chuztpah to be caught blundering is so refreshing to see in this day and age that you win by a landslide...oh, that and you were the only one playing. i meet almost all the requirements but the bathroom is the worst. sometimes i can deal with my own mess in my room but when it gets to me i have to clean it up and organize it to my certains standards. i am known for being obsessive and cleaning my friends rooms. but the bathroom at my mothers house isnt nessisarly dirty but i go insane over it. i cant stand when towels arent neatly folded. that rings arent on the shower pole, i cant sit on the toilet because im paranoid about someone else who lives with us who uses the toilet. i freak if theres hair in the drian, the shower bottles arent in line. or the toothpast is all over. the rugs need to be clean and the soap and bottles in line. im paranoid if water in the toilet were to splash on me.i clean it repeditavly and people keep messing it up. so i get so angry and have a break down. im currently at the point where its all i think about before going to the bathroom and as soon as i get to my moms house is the bathroom. this also happens in public restrooms. who whole toilet paper on the seat, touch nothing, use a towel to touch the door. please help me. i just need to know what i should do. i realize i have a problem  more

Resolved Question: Is she family or not? AND Is this right?

My boyfriend has a son with another woman. The baby momma (although they have signed child support papers) threatens him constantly saying he won't get the baby anymore. My boyfriend's mother and sister instead of giving moral support to my boyfriend give moral support to the baby momma. The baby's first birthday was last week and my boyfriend was making him a birthday party this weekend. His sister was organizing everything and she knew i was going to the party (We're in a serious relationship by the way). My boyfriend told his sister ahead of time not to invite the baby momma cuz I was gonna be there. He even told her he would leave if she went. His sister completetly ignored what he said and invited the baby momma. The baby momma told my boyfriend his sister invited her and my boyfriend told her she better not go then she asked why and he said because I don't want you there. If you're going you might as well tell me so I don't go. Then she told him she wasn't giving him the kid even though it's his weekend. I'm suppossing the baby momma then called my boyfriend's mom and sister like she usually does when she doesn't get her way with my boyfriend. I then get a call from my boyfriend's mom asking if I was the one who told my boyfriend not to invite her and I told her no, that her son is the one who doesn't want her there and she told me that the baby momma has to be there because she's family. In my opinion, since they're not married and they never had a relationship, she isn't family. All she is is just the mother of his kid. Later on that night, his sister text me asking me to help her convinvce her brother to go to the party. His sister and I don't have a good relationship, she basically only looks for me when she wants me to convince my boyfriend to do something, she never just randomly asks how I'm doing or anything like that. So, I told her no because her brother told her not to invite the baby momma and she ignored him and invited her. So basically his family has turned their back on him. Do you think the baby momma is part of the family only because she's mother of the child?? AND Is this right? Is it right for her to constantly threaten him to take him to court and that he won't see the kid anymore? Is it right that his family ignores him all the time and only takes into consideration what the baby momma says? Sorry it's so long. I tried to cut it as short as possible without leaving out the important stuff. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read it =]  more

Resolved Question: Areas for undergraduate research in mathematics?

I've been actively trying to find an area of mathematics that I could do research in as an undergraduate. Unfortunately, I'm basically alone in this pursuit at my current university, so I have little to no guidance in this matter. I'm probably going to speak with a professor in person soon and request some help finding a topic to work on in my spare time. But before I do that I thought no harm could be caused by asking here. It seems that graph theory, combinatorics, and other similar fields are the areas most successfully researched by undergraduates. Looking at other people's work, it seems there's a large number of open questions in these fields and that answering these questions requires ingenuity but not necessarily sophisticated machinery. I look at work done by other undergraduates, and some papers resolve conjectures or answer "age-old" questions, but I can't help but wonder where people hear about these conjectures. So I'm looking for specific problems I could investigate and that could lead to meaningful research (such as a publishable paper). As I said, "discrete" topics such as graph theory and combinatorics seem to be the most appropriate for undergraduate research, but I am open to any area. Does anyone know of where to find specific open problems or conjectures that need resolving or specific topics to be investigated? On a side note, what would be remarkable would be an actively-maintained list of open questions suitable for investigation by undergraduates. I think this could be of extreme benefit to mathematics majors around the world if it was carefully maintained by knowledgeable individuals and usefully organized (such as by the expected areas of math to be used in a solution and the expected sophistication of a solution).  more

Voting Question: Where can I find a good pedigree program?

OK; I'm looking for some sort of computer program that will not only display a chart, but show details on an individual while hiding details on the others. Let me explain: I'm not making a family pedigree (or 'Family Tree'), but it's similar. I'm trying to map out all the teacher-student relationships going from my music teachers back to the famous ones of the 18th and 19th centuries. I've already done much of the research, and the drawings I have on paper are hopelessly complicated and tangled because most every famous player or composer has had several famous teachers. Interconnections are frequent and confusing to see drawn. So, I'm looking for a computer program that would sort this all for me, where I could click on one particular person and see all the people he learned from and all the people he taught. Preferably, this program might also give the option of seeing everyone at once, making a much more organized drawing than I can with pencil and paper. In short, I'm looking for something a bit more complex than the typical family tree plotter, but something that can still give a fairly easy picture of everything. Any suggestions?  more

Voting Question: Macbook or Macbook Pro for normal incoming college freshman?

I'm beginning college in the fall & I'd like a laptop that will last me a very long time. I like the Macbook Pro, but i'm not sure that I need all the power that it has for the price. The price isn't a huge issue, but if I can save $800 for something I won't utilize, I would like to. Resolved Question: Can someone help me reply back to this statement:?

If we didn't have word available to us it would make things so much more complicated. Word makes more jobs, and makes everything easier, more organized, it also uses less space. Almost of places of employment use word for something within there company. If we didn't have word we would have a lot of hand written papers that we could not read most of the time. It makes it easier because word spell checks for us, and if we had a bunch of files that were misspelled it would not look very professional nor would it make any sense. Technology is very important because without technology we wouldn't have as many jobs in that field as we do today. It a huge part of our world today. The only way I can put it is that Word makes everything less complicated. That's very important. Please. Thank you.  more

Resolved Question: Writers/authors, which do you prefer?

I am someone who LOVES to write - but I mean actually write on paper. It seems like my ideas flow much more freely than when I type at the keyboard. So when you write a story, are you typing it, or do you have to write it by hand to get your ideas flowing? I've always been this way. Thing is, I've been putting off writing because I know I'll have twice the work retyping it. I also realize its easier to edit along the way when you type, adding text, etc. So, any advice? Should I stick to writing by hand, or try to do my writing by typing it all? I have a lot of projects right now, but they are unorganized and all written on different pieces of paper, etc. I guess I'm asking how should I organize my writing! Thanks  more

Voting Question: I want to start a newspaper in my school and I'm not sure where to start!?

I thought it'd be a good idea to have a student written paper at my school (which is really, really small, with about 350 pupils) and I'd like to present the idea to my head teacher, but I'm not quite sure where to start... any ideas on how I could go about organizing the group/presenting the idea to the teachers/possibly managing it if the teacher lets me? I'd like to be the editor and all that, but I'm only in yr 10 so I'm not sure I'd be allowed.  more

Resolved Question: please help insert a table?

I know its long, but the first person to help me will get best answer I have to write a paper on google china and the paper needs a table in it. Please read the paper and tell me where you would put a table in and what it would say. thanks hers the paper The name Google originated from a misspelling of the word googol. Googol refers to 10100, meaning a 1 followed by one-hundred zeros (“Google”). Google is a very successful search engine in the United States that recently, decided to create a Chinese version of the traditional Google search engine to the internet users in China. After being shut down by the Chinese government, Google decided to release a new version of the Google search engine called Google China, www.google.cn. Google China received much criticism from human rights advocates because it censored anti-Chinese government information such as human rights information. Because of the censoring, Google China became a major issue pertaining to traditional business ethics (“Google censors”). Getting started in China was hard for Google, and full of ethical questions. When Google first made the decision to market its search engine to internet users in China, the idea was to have a Chinese version of the Google search engine. This would include translating all of the Google search engine components into Chinese, but not limiting any information to the average Chinese internet user. Google decided that it would be up to the Chinese government to decide what content was blocked. By doing this, Google effectively relieved itself of any ethical liability to the internet user in China. When the Chinese version of Google was shut down by the Chinese government, Google decided to take a different path. In December of 2005, Google signed a deal with the Chinese government that enabled the company to establish a legal presence in China. The next big task was to find what sites to limit in China. Since the Chinese government refused to give a list of banned sites in China to Google, Google decided to mimic the firewall of China. Google achieved this by setting up a computer inside China and programmed it to try to access websites outside the country that were controversial. If a site was blocked by the firewall that meant that the Chinese government regarded the content as controversial and Google added it to its list of banned sites. Some examples of the content that was blocked by Google was: •Information pertaining to Falun Gong, which is a banned spiritual movement in China, any site •Opposition to the Chinese government •most links to human rights organizations. After finding what sites to block, Google launched its newest creation, Google China on January 27, 2006. Google China gives the average Chinese internet user the ability to search for information without being slowed down by the Chinese firewall. The question that remains is whether Google’s decision to censor the information stated above followed traditional business ethical standards (Morrill). Business ethics is “a form of applied ethics that examines ethical rules and principles within a commercial context, the various moral or ethical problems that can arise in a business setting, and any special duties or obligations that apply to persons who are engaged in commerce (“Business Ethics”).” Business ethics is very much centered on business philosophies, which are deeply rooted in the morals and values of a company. In order to evaluate a company’s ethical decisions, one must look at the fundamental purpose of the company. Situational ethics also play a part in how decisions are made regarding different business situations. This refers to a particular view of ethics that states, “The morality of an act is a function of the state of the system at the time it is performed (“Situational ethics”).” Not every situation is the same, so not every ethical decision will be the same. Situational ethics becomes very pertinent to the ethical decisions of Google in China. Why Google’s actions in China follow traditional business ethical standards Supporters of Google’s actions in China say that Google has not violated traditional business ethical standards by censoring anti-Chinese information. The main reasoning for this statement centers on the fact that Google is helping the average Chinese internet user gain more access to valuable information from all over the world. “Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful (“Company”).” Sometimes in the process of trying to accomplish this mission, the company may run into certain Invisible Barriers of Trade, which happened to Google in China. Critics of Google’s actions in China must understand that not every country is a democracy; China is a country that continues to hold strict communist ideals and Google is merely obeying the rules set forth by the Chinese government. I think that it’s important to look at the fact that the Googl  more

Resolved Question: Can someone PLEASE edit my career paper!?

Forensic means pertaining to law. The earliest proof of forensics is BCE(Before The Common Era). Evidence of fingerprints in paintings and rock carvings were found. (Bureau of labor statistics.) Forensic scientists help to convict criminals by analyzeing the evidence that they receive from the police and or field agents. Fingerprinting is one of the most used techniques used to find out who was at the crime scene. There is a lot of fingerprinting involved in forensic science. Fingerprints help to find out who was at the crime scene. If the forensic scientist has the weapon they can also find out who held the weapon. Forensic scientists can also find out if someone shot a gun by testing clothing and hands for gun shot residue. There are a lot of abilities needed to work in this field. One is to have perseverance, another ability needed is you have to enjoy math and science, and you also have to be organized. Perseverance is when you follow through with something even if there is little or no hope of it working. You need this because you might not suspect a person of doing something, but then you discover that they did do it. You have to enjoy math and science because math and science are big parts of forensic science. You must also be organized, If you are not organized you will probably eventually be fired. You must also not be disgusted by dead human bodies because you are usually required to watch an autopsy before you start to work. Higher education is a must to succeed in this field even at the high school level. In high school you might want to be in chemistry, anatomy, and biology classes. You must have at least a bachelor’s degree in science, chemistry, biology, physics and or physical anthropology just to be a beginner. There are over thirty-one colleges and universities that offer a bachelor's degree in forensic science. (BLS) The education may cost a lot but student loans may be used. Or you could go to a community college which costs much less. An example position as a forensic scientist would be at Naval Criminal Investigative Services (NCIS) in Norfolk Virginia. NCIS deals with murders or mysterious deaths of Naval personnel. The daily schedule of a forensic scientist is to record and analyze data. After the data is analyzed the scientists record the data and then report it to the field agents. The responsibilities of a forensic scientist are to get the data in on time and to get the data correct. The job opportunity of a forensic scientist is expected to increase due to the judicial system's continuing need for corroborating evidence in prosecutions (BLS). Job opportunity will be better for professionals who have an advanced degree or certificate in forensic specialty such as DNA. They will be better because people want smarter people working for them. If I worked as a forensic scientist at NCIS in Virginia I would live somewhere near Norfolk in Virginia. There are other NCIS locations all around the world but I would want to work at the Virginia location because Virginia is very beautiful. The cost of housing would not be bad because if you work at NCIS they sometimes pay for some of your house. At NCIS they let you use a government issued car for as long as you work there so transportation is not an issue. There would not be any special requirements with housing or transportation. You are required to use the government issued car at crime scenes, but that is really the only requirement with transportation. The work environment of a forensic scientist would be in a lab. You might have an assistant , or you might be a lab assistant. People would constantly come down to your lab to drop off evidence and to find out the results of the tests they had you run. The lab would include many of tools including a mass spectrometer, finger print scanners and many more tools. It would be a very fun work environment because you get to work with people. Also it could be kind of scary because some of the evidence might scare you. In 1998 the starting forensic scientist made from $20,000- $40,000 a year. Experienced crime lab professionals earned about $40,000- $85,000 and some lab directors earned as much as $100,000. The salary of a forensic scientist is excellent. It is very excellent if you are a lab director. But to be a lab director it requires more school. Being a forensic scientist can be very rewarding. You can earn a lot of money and also have a lot of fun. You have a lot of fun because you can help people, and you build bonds with the field agents and sometimes become friends. A career in forensics is fun but a lot of work is needed to be a forensic scientist. In conclusion forensics if fun, rewarding, and not a very boring job.  more

Voting Question: Does AL Gore have the guts to stand up to the North Koreans or will he run scared?

In 1979 Ross Perot organized one of the most successful rescue operations when his EDS employees were taken hostage in iran. This is the kind of boss I would want to work for. So when is Al Gore going to help out his reporters now facing 12 years in a North Korean concentration camp. He will probably just send them a strongly worded letter on recycled paper written in soy ink. Oh and maybe make a video with Michael Moore. Thank God smiling Al was never president.  more

Resolved Question: Please rate my story out of ten that I wrote tonight?

The cold kitchen floor was enough to wake her that morning. Wiping the drool off of her cheek, she grabbed onto the kitchen counter and pulled herself up. Sleepwalking again. The clock was exactly six-thirty and although she'd never woken up from an episode this late, it was still early for a Saturday morning. As she lie herself down on the mattress in the closet she'd slept in for the past six and a half months, she felt an odd feeling go through her stomach. A feeling of nervousness, and knowing her body it wasn't about to go away. Something was going to happen today and knowing that there was not much she could do to avoid it, she closed her eyes and drifted away to sleep. - "Sarah, we're going to the fair. Get dressed we're leaving in half an hour," her mother yelled from outside the door. "I'm not going, I'm doing something important," Sarah responded. She was doing something important, feeding her neopet was a top priority these days. "I'm not kidding, you're coming now." "Don't wait for me," Sarah responded once again. Half an hour passed. They were waiting. "Sarah, you are ten-years-old and you will do as I say. Get dressed right this instant," her mother replied. She was growing impatient, you could tell from her voice. "You left last week without me for two days, you can go to this thing without me. It's only two hours, I'll be fine." "You're going." "I'm not." The door flew open. "Do you think this is funny," she asked, the impatience in her voice now transformed into full-blown anger. "No." She began walking towards her slowly. The look on her face seemed to get angrier and angrier with each second that passed and each second seemed like an eternity. Sarah knew that face, she knew that this was the turning point of the day. That feeling of nervousness from last night was back, but this time it was her mind that told her that it wasn't going away anytime soon. "Do you think this is funny," she asked once more, this time grabbing her daughter and shaking her. "Ruining every single family outing, do you think this is funny? Do you enjoy ruining my day? Do you enjoy ruining EVERY little thing?" "I'm sorry," Sarah responded in a weak tone, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her mother began mocking her facial expression.</p> "Poor little me, that's what you're thinking? Oh, boo-hoo. Why are you crying? What are you crying about," her mother asked, pinching her arms and hitting her. "Nothing." And she didn't feel anything. Her mother seemed more angered by that response than anything, and proceeded to push her to the floor. A plush chair broke her fall. That feeling of slight nervousness she had felt in the morning had begun to feel more and more desirable. Her emotions were now almost as chaotic as her surroundings, the fear she felt had taken over her entire body. She dared not show it, best do as she says from now on and beg for peace. Get out if you still can. Her mother walked towards her desk, throwing everything to the floor. Next were the shelves. After that all of her drawers. "I told you to clean this up yesterday, girl. HOW many times have I told you to do this?" The white carpet was now hidden underneath all the papers, the clothes, her toys that she'd failed to clean up earlier. "Clean this up. Right now." Sitting on the floor awkwardly, she reached for a few pieces of paper and began stacking them. "NOW. I want this cleaned up," she screamed before storming out of the room, slamming the door behind her. That's when the emotions hit. What had been built up for the past forty-five minutes all burst out. As she lay there, similar to how she'd done the night earlier, she couldn't help but think that the world would be better off without her. She could hear her mother talking with her father in the living room. She was trying to get the family to leave. They'd be alone together. She began to shake. As much guilt as she felt for even imagining such a thing, the girl feared for her life. As weak as she felt at that moment, she knew that she had to build strength. That's what adults are, strong. For now she just had to use her strength to tape pieces of ripped up paper back together and to organize her drawers Blocking out all of the arguing in the other room, all of her emotions and all of her fear she put all her energy towards cleaning. And as her tears dried up and her emotions started to calm down it occurred to her; it wasn't that bad. I know it's not very good but I'm 16-years-old and I'd appreciate some comments...  more

Open Question: I need help defining chores..?

for my kids. Okay, a few years ago, when my kids were younger, I used to give them 50 cents per chore (they were 7 & 8). When we prepared to by a house I told them that they were going to have to help out more without getting paid (because of added expenses), they were fine with it because we were moving into a house. We blended a family and now none of the kids wants to do any more than they possibly have to in order to be done (chores before going out-daily). For instance, they will sweep the kitchen floor or downstairs or clean the front window, or load and unload the dishwasher (we didn't have one before and forget sink dishes- they claim allergies to the soap-which is not true). Occasionally they will clean the bathroom, but not like before (they used to clean the toilet and the tub, now, they empty the garbage and wipe the sink down--I've cleaned the toilet recently and it was GROSS!!!). The reasoning behind more chores for them is the fact that I have to work more now than I did before we moved into the house and because it is a house bigger than the apartment we lived in. And because they live here they should take responsibility for helping to keep it clean since they help to mess it up. I've tried chore sheets, assigning specific chores for a week and then rotating them and the free for all approach (they pick what they are going to do) which is a disaster (that gets the least done and the common chore phrases "what has been done" and "there's nothing for me to do"). I want to put in writing specific directions like dishwaser includes washing the table counter and stove or cleaning the bathroom means the toilet, tub, sink, garbage and sweeping or mopping the floor. But, I'm curious what other parents make their kids do. Do you have any ideas how to organize it all? Do you give them an allowance? Btw, I'm considering reinstituting allowance but I want to see the work, I don't think a weeks worth of sweeping the floor is worthy of what I was going to give them. Oh, and they constantly have to be asked or reminded to do their chores (like when they are going to go out after school). Incidentally the kids in the house are this: 18 (with special needs), 16, 13 and 12. (the 13 year old has a paper route, should he be excluded from chores on the 2 days he delivers, or should he have to do that as well?) Any help or ideas is greatly appreciated and as always will get Best Answer. Sorry this is so long. Thanks  more

Resolved Question: Do I really have OCD? I don't think I do, but the doctor says so.?

I have been battling with mental illness type things for a while. I have been hospitalized for suicidal thoughts. I am diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, ADHD, Insomnia, and now OCD. I got diagnosed OCD yesterday, but I never saw it all as a huge problem. I never even noticed it a whole lot. Maybe I was used to it. Let me name what I do: - I must check all of the doors at night and everytime I wake up. I try to open them to make sure they are locked, then I unlock them, the lock them, try to open them, walk off, and then walk back and look at it to make sure it's locked, the go back to bed. -Whenever I take my medicine, when I take it out of the bottle, I look at the bottle and at the way all the pills look in the bottle and stare at it until I take it, then I still get scared I didn't take the right one. - I cannot have any smudges on my laptop, my wrist cannot touch it or anything, if it does, I wipe it all till it looks like it was never touched. I cannot use it with smudges. - My book cabinet has to be organized by size and book series. - Whatever part of my body any soda touches, I have to wipe it off, use water, germ-x or something on my body where it touched. - No-one can write on my binder, if they do, I buy a new one. - My desktop icons must be aligned alphabetically. - If I get on anyone's computer and the icons are messy, I must re-arrange them. - Screen resolution on any computer must be set to highest and best setting. I don't care if the person who owns it likes it the way it was or not. - Anything crooked annoys the heck out of me. - None of my papers can be wrinkled, or I get pissed. - I cannot use anyone's things to study they wrote because it isn't my handwriting. The rest are going to be impulsive type things that just pop into my head randomly and I have to do them, but I don't know why (remember, these are not everyday ones, just random impulses at random times). Here are examples: - I was in the mall and I couldn't step on a crack, and if I did, I would slap my hand (this one has happened at least 15 times though) - I had to squeeze my mom's nose, and I wouldn't get off the couch until I could and did. - I had to hold my breath on all bridges on the way home. - On the way home with my friend, I bent over in the car and put a towel over my face, I wouldn't move until the car came to a complete stop. Which was like 25 minutes later. It's just random things like those above. Those impulsive type things happen everyday, this is what my mind is thinking and what I do, even if I don't want to: "Throw that out the window" *throws out the window" "Do 57 sit-ups" *does 57 sit-ups" "Knock all of your books off your desk" *knocks all books off desk* "Run 30 laps and NEVER stop" *runs 30 laps, even if it kills me* "Stare at that for 10 seconds and don't say a word" *does that* "Don't leave this room, move, or speak, until the clock hits 8, when it hits 8 jump up and scream, at 8:15 go to the bathroom and stay in there for 2 minutes, etc" *does all that* I'm sure you get the picture on that. I also heard of people over obsessing about having AIDS and stuff and wearing gloves. Every time a plane passed over me I thought they were terrorist and ran inside and paniced. Or maybe I was just paranoid. I'm now obsessed with my weight. I weigh 160, 5'7, male, 14. I think I'm huge, and I always count calories and stuff. I don't eat hardly anything any more. I went like 5 days only eating like 500 calories in all, and then vomited some of it up. I don't wanna be fat. Today I ate 4 supreme tacos, a king sized Hershey bar, and 2 fun-sized! That's way too much! I don't know if I actually have OCD or what's going on. Maybe I'm just bipolar like my aunt and cousin, that seems like it would all fit together. But my doctor won't diagnose me with that because of my age. =/ Can someone explain if I actually have OCD? Sorry so long.  more

Voting Question: Why do antifeminist feel the need to try to tear down women at every turn?

I ask this because time and time again when i open the news paper there is some man editor talking about intellectually inferior women are and how men are better at exams more organized more stronger bla bla you know what im talking about we see it all the time but you never see women openly attacking men as a gender. I find this funny because as you no dout heard from antifeminist they claim to be for equality and fairness where there is suppose to be no difference between the 2 genders. Is this just something antifeminist say when they feel men as a hole are at disadvantagege to women . why are such blatant insults ansexismum aloud to be spoken freely in the media . Only today did i read statmentslike this and how maybe women will become exstinct lol yipeeee .if antifeminist / the moden men really thinks like this then maybe we as a women were wrong to allow men so much freedom maybe all those women who have died fighting for these mens rights were fighting for the wrong side. ha someone please explane to me what the bloody hells going on. : )  more
