Room Heaters Portable Questions asked
Resolved Question: What can I do to cool my house that has no insulation?
I rent and my rent is very cheap (renting from family who are willing to lose income on the rental because they got burned too many times by tenants who trashed the place). The house is in OK condition but is old. It has ABSOLUTELY no insulation. Getting better windows and wall insulation is NOT an option (we can't afford it and neither can the family who owns the place - we have cheaper rent here than we would elsewhere in town and more space). We have old wooden framed windows that can be hard to open (no ropes, just sliding wood on wood). Two of our windows, bathroom and kitchen, are jalousie style (http://www.hometips.com/images/hyhw/shell/144louvered.gif). We have rubber seals for the edges but that just seals part of the draft. Our front door has such a big gap under it that leaves blow in under it. We can't add any weather sealing to the bottom because the carpet goes too high immediately on the other side of the door. The crawlspace has zero insulation - many repairmen/cable guys have commented on it, the walls have nothing in there either (plaster walls). We have one of those spinning vents on top of the house and a wall heater in the living room. During winter, we have space heaters to heat individual rooms and the wall heater does do an OK job on the rest of the house. It has 3 modes - on, off w/ pilot, and off without pilot. So we let it get 'too hot' then turn it off and let the drafts cool the room back down. Its managable in winter. We live in coastal, central California so its usually in the mid 40s and rarely gets down in the 30s. It doesn't even get too hot most of the year, the problem is that the house gets very hot inside. We can't leave windows open when we aren't home and it takes a while to cool it down when we do get home. We bought a portable AC unit last year out of desperation, but you only feel the effect if you are sitting within 4 feet of it. We have animals at home in the daytime and we'll put ice in their water, check on them at lunch etc but I'd like to find a better solution to cooling our house. We don't have the skills to do a lot of work ourselves and don't have the money to hire someone. The family who owns the house lost their own home in a local wildfire and are very strapped for cash as they try to rebuild (and honestly if they were going to do work on this house, they should probably start with the termites and not worry about replacing windows etc just yet). This area is too expensive for us to buy just now, the prices didn't come down much with the crash and a mobile home costs $500K minimum. The nearest towns are 1hr+ commute but there is only 1 way in and out of town so the smallest accident can make a commute 2-4 hours easily and the houses out there are $400k-800K easily. We both work in this town and moving is probably inevitable long-term but we have very good jobs and this economy is not a good time for both of us to be looking for new jobs just to move. Any thoughts/suggestions?? moreResolved Question: Do Portable Home heaters release any harmful chemicals?
My house is really cold, so i keep this heater in my room, Its called a SOLEUSAIR, which im guessing is one of the cheap ones at Walmart or something, but i noticed that everytime is on i get this headache or this feeling like my head is stuffy....And This only happens when my heater is ON, when i Turn it Off, it goes away. Im wondering if Portable heaters release some kind of chemical in the air thats causing the headaches? moreResolved Question: radiators? what type is best?
ok, these cold months are starting to get to me... which got me thinking... what is the best portable heater for warming up a room fast (and hopefully keeping it) : - 1. oil radiator 2. fan heater 3. halogen heater moreVoting Question: Can a portable electric space heater melt paint off the walls.?
So, a wall in my living room is falling down. When the ll came to look at it 3 wks ago he said it was no big deal, just normal wear & tear. Last night my bf spoke to him about fixing it since we have heard nothing in the past 3 weeks, and he claims that we have an electric space heater in the apt. that apparently we have turned up so high, that it is causing the wall to fall apart, by melting the paint. We do not even own an electric heater, let alone have one in our apartment. He is just trying to milk us for money for the repairs. My question is this. Can a portable electric space heater get hot enough to melt the paint off the walls? Also, how can I prove, fight his claim that we have an electric heater when we do not. Thanks moreVoting Question: COULD I BE CONCUSSED? I'M TOO SCARED TOO SLEEP!?

I am told Melbourne is not as cold as London? I am looking at a house with no heating.....but hope to have a portable heater for myself? Would one portable heater be sufficient ..I dont wanna fall ill ? :) What abt over summer ? You know, one of those little portable red-coil jobs that you put in a single room to warm it up a bit. What if you sit very close to one every day? Will the heat cause your clothes to discolor and fade, the same way they would if you let them sit out in a blistering sun too long? moreResolved Question: where can i find a heater (portable for the room) that reguires no plug?
I need one that reguires no plug me in outlet. moreResolved Question: People who say their house is too big...?
When I lived in a small apartment, when I heard people on TV say that they want to move because their house is too big, I understood that it probably meant it took longer to clean which is why they wanted to move. Now I am a homeowner and there are a couple of rooms I never use, and all I do is take a few minutes to vacuum them since they are still spotless clean since I am never in those rooms. So why do people say that their house is too big if you do not use the space then it doesn't bother you. Unless these people use central heat and AC and it makes their bills higher? I use portable heaters and fans to save a lot of electricity so I do not have that problem if that is the case. moreResolved Question: my wound won't heal! help!?
So about last week, on January 15, 2010, I injured my foot. Well, I somehow got my last toe caught behind the portable heater in my room and as I continued walking, the skin between that toe and the one next to it tore open. This was extremely painful and the tear was pretty deep, like 1/3 of a centimeter. I expected this to scab up and heal within a few days, but it has been SEVEN days and no scab has formed. This is also worrying me because the wound does not seem to be healing, as I can still see that the two sides of the skin that tore apart has not "reconnected" with each other. It just looks like an open wound, but it only hurts when I apply pressure to it. I am worried that I need stitches, as the wound is not a "clean cut" (like a cut with a knife), but it seems that the wound isn't deep enough to require stitches. I am wondering, why is the wound not healing and connecting back with each other? My mom suggested that I apply Neosporin on it several times a day but this does not seem to be working. moreResolved Question: Best way to heat this room (short of setting it on fire) :)?
Our master bath has a toilet and shower and is separated from the main master bath in a small room (5' x 8' I believe) with 3 exterior walls. Actually, it's exposed on 5 sides...north (8' wall), west and east (5' walls) roof above and garage underneath. Needless to say it gets very cold in there. We are thinking about remodeling that room as well as the main part of the master bath. I am ok with tearing down the E,W, &N walls and adding insulation as well as replacing a somewhat drafty window on that north wall but I think we are still going to need some kind of heater in there. Being a room with just a toilet and shower, there are no electrical receptacles (building code). However, there are a couple of walls switches (light & fan) that I could tap into if necessary since I will be removing the drywall. I also installed a heat lamp but the ceiling is 8' so it's not very effective. I am out of ideas. Anyone out there have some ideas of how to warm up this room? Currently, we are using a portable heater to heat the room before we shower...it was 52 degrees in there this morning!!! moreResolved Question: Heater question need urgent responce?
I have a portable heater and it works when it's on the low setting but when on the high setting it cuts the power to three rooms how to fix this? moreResolved Question: California space heater restriction?
I want to buy a replacement space heater for my mobile home, the propane wall heater is pretty old so I would like something more efficient. I bought a Mr.Heater brand "big buddy" heater for my workshop and was impressed by how well the ceramic radiant design worked. When I went to purchase a similar heater with larger capacity I found it is "Not for sale in California". However the other 49 states allow these same heaters. Searching the net the only thing I can find is to get approved in California the manufacturer pays for testing. Both heaters are CSA/AGA certified, might even be CE certified. Both heaters could be classified as portable since the larger one is available free standing not wall mounted. I could go with one of the direct vent heaters but I have no place to install it with enough wall space and clearance w/o completely turning the room or rooms around. A replacement for the wall heater seems to be about 10 times the price. Suggestions, the following are links to all three heaters. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200307957_200307957?cm_sp=Xsells-_-Manual-_-Product%20Page http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200332739_200332739?cm_sp=Xsells-_-Manual-_-Product%20Page http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200362089_200362089?cm_sp=Xsells-_-Manual-_-Product%20Page moreResolved Question: Pilot light problem on an LPG portable room heater?
I have a problem with the pilot light being about 3 inches long, yellow in colour and burning half way up the ceramic tile. When the heater was new, it had a small blue pilot light which came to the bottom of the ceramic tile. Not sure if it's the regulator or the thermocouple playing up? It's using a lot of gas.... Any ideas ? moreResolved Question: What do you think of this room?
I created a floor plan for a room I'll be rearranging in an online creator and would like to know what you think. It will be my new room - live with parents and grandparents, still studying, 20 yrs. This is the link: http://www.zkracovatko.cz/dy3 I would like to comment on some things because they may not be clear due to limits the creator has: The left wall is actually to the east. The door leads to a balcony and is made of glass. The top wall leads to south. The door on the bottom leads to the bathroom, the door on the right wall leads to the rest of the flat. The irregularity next to it is where the chimney goes in the wall. The dark objects under windows symbolize heaters. The desk in the left-top corner consists of two parts, in fact. The computer is positioned so I can watch movies on it from the bed or from the armchair. The bed is in the corner because I like it this way - makes me feel secure. There is going to be a storage box under it for stuff I use rarely or which I'm sorry to throw out. It is a double bed, but I live alone. I want space. There will be shelves above it, where I'd keep my books and little before-sleep stuff. And a small light over the head. Below there will be a space with a mirror on the wall and a small shelf under it for make-up. The wardrobe next to it will be where I keep my accessories, jewelry, beauty stuff and fabrics. I can move a chair from the desk there. The line of shelves next to this is there to round the whole room and avoid stressing corner-to-corner. There I'd keep work in progress to have it in sight and motivate me to finish it. Opposite to it is a chair where I'd do my handwork - beading, embroidery, hand sewing. I can watch movies while doing this on the computer. Above it there are shelves with stuff I need for this, my portable sewing mashine I can put on the desk and a little reading-lamp. Next to it is a small table I can put things on when I need them at hand. Before it there's an oval coffee table (again, no corner to corner) that can be moved next to the bed if I need space to lay a big piece of fabric on the ground. In the bottom-left corner there is a wardrobe with clothes. Don't take the colors too seriously. I do prefer light wood and warm orangeish colors, but this is too much. moreResolved Question: What is the best way to heat my apartment and save money?
I live in Ohio, in a one-bedroom rental in an old house. My heating is a mix of hot water radiators that keep the temperature at about 66 degrees, and 40-year-old Singer baseboard heaters to supplement them. I also have a portable furnace/infrared heater. I pay for electric, but not hot water. My electric rate is $.00584/KWH. So far, my electric bills have been quite reasonable -- about $25 per month, even this December. But I've only been using the infrared portable furnace when I'm in the living room and have only turned on the electric baseboard in the bedroom for about an hour at a time, to heat it up before bed or in the morning. It's gotten to the point, though, that it's too cold to have no heat on in the bedroom. The portable furnace's fan wakes me up, which rules it out as an option. Should I keep the baseboard in the bedroom running all the time, or would that run up a huge electric bill? I'm a grad student and want to keep my bill under $100. What's the best way to heat my place?I should add that my landlady is a complete slumlord who legally gets around having to heat my apartment to a tolerable 68 degrees by having these prehistoric electric baseboards installed and billing the place as "a mix of electric and radiators." They're so old they don't have anywhere to plug a thermostat into. moreResolved Question: How to convert a household thermostat for use on a portable space heater?
I know it's a bit overkill, but I only need to heat one room and space heaters are so inaccurate. I want to use a $30 standard external household thermostat to ensure a constant temperature in my room. Several people told me, "It can't be done", but I know better. I have basic electrical and soldering skills. moreResolved Question: Are portable calor gas fires dangerous to use in small spaces?
I just bought a little gas heater but someone told me you need to make sure the space you are using it in is well ventilated. Is this true? If so how do you make sure that it is well ventilated as the rooms in my house are quite small? moreResolved Question: can I keep using an extension cord for my portable space heater?
I've been using an extension cord for my little portable heater that I use to heat up my room because it gets so cold during the winter. I just read the tag on the heater that says do not use with extension cord. But I have been using an extension cord with it for about a month now. So i was wondering should i stop using an extension cord or can I keep using it? moreVoting Question: Which will create more heat; a 60W Ultraviolet (black light) light bulb or a 100W daylight bulb?
My flat is very old and has no heating; this morning when I woke up at 9am it was 8°c in the living room, it is now 9°c. That's about 46° Fahrenheit :) I have a portable heater - it doesn't work very well but it's better than nothing, but I need it on me the whole time (in the living room). This means that when I go to bed my bedroom is utterly freezing. The pillows are damp from cold. I am constantly ill. All my lightbulbs in the flat are nice energy saving ones apart from the living room (it's a giant old Victorian flat; CFLs do not provide enough light), but I thought the other day - the wastage from a incandescent lightbulb is heat, and if I jump up a ladder I can feel the heat from the living room bulb! I can't afford another portable heater right now (have just been made redundant from the closure of Borders) so I have put a 100W lightbulb in the (quite small) bedroom - it has made a difference! I have found another 100W lightbulb which I am going to put in my bedside lamp, but I've also found a 60W blacklight that I bought ages ago for a party. In my experience that blacklight gave off lots of heat; but would it be better or worse than the 100W lightbulb? Also - any tips for keeping the flat warm? The flat is rented and I can't change anything. I have thick curtains, keep doors closed, have draft excluders.etc. It's such a fantastic place to live in the summer but it feels like it's killing me this winter. moreResolved Question: Cheaper... Heat one room with portable or whole house?
I would prefer an answer here that includes some backing-up rather than just opinions. (Unless, of course, you're a HV-AC or electrical expert.) I have a two-bedroom apartment, not sure on the square footage but it's not huge. What I'm wondering is would it be cheaper on utility bills to keep the overall temperature of the apartment uniform using central heat, or would it be cheaper to turn the heat down and use a portable, temperature-controlled quartz tube heater in my room to keep it comfortable. The central heat is one of those with separate blower and gas furnace (blower kicks on, gas kicks on a few minutes later, then gas quits and blower continues for a few to cool.) Let's say for this example that I prefer to keep the heat set at 72 degrees, but if using portable to heat my bedroom would turn down to about 67 or 68. Thanks in advance! moreResolved Question: Which is more cost effective? Using the portable electric heater in my room or the heater in my apt wall?
I live in an apartment that allows me to turn on the heat which comes from a vent on the wall. Is this cheaper than a portable electric heater? moreResolved Question: How can I use solar energy to power my portable oil filled heater for my room?
It seems that there is a lot of confusion about how to use solar energy in an everyday setting. I live in an apartment, my bedroom is always cold. I want to use my portable oil-filled radiator to heat my room. And since I have exposure to the sun in my bedroom window, I want to use some type of solar panel to power my heater. Is there a unit that I can put in my window that will absorb or charge a battery so I can plug my heater in at night to heat my room so I can sleep? moreResolved Question: How is a portable air conditioner installed?
Is it like a heater, where you just put the unit in the room and turn it on or is there some other stuff that you need to do? such as installing it onto the window or adding an air vent or something? moreResolved Question: Which one saves more energy: portable heater or central heating?
I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. It's not snowing where I live, but it can get a bit chilly once in a while. When my roommates are out, I normally turn off the central heating since I don't need to heat up the entire apartment. I only need warm up my bedroom. I don't need heating in any other room (not even the living room). Would it be more cost effective to use a portable heater for my room (it's 1500W) or use central heating? moreResolved Question: Quartz Infrared Heater?
What would be the difference between this $400 heater and a portable electric oil filled heater? Looking to warm up my family room, kitchen, dining all are open to each. P.S. I have a 85% gas furnace. The rooms I'm wanting to raise the temp in are about 40% of the total living area. Almost making sense to shut off vents in rooms I'm not using and turn up the thermostat. Thoughts anyone? moreResolved Question: Looking for a portable heater. Need recommendation.?
I am looking for a portable heater, I am not sure as to what type to get but I am leaning towards an infrared heater. The lady at my place of work whom works in human resources owns an infrared heater and swears by it. Now I heard that infrared heaters do not heat the air per se, but instead heat the objects within the room, but the heat one feels is instantaneous. Is this true? The details: my home is about 1040 sq feet. Roughly 40 feet by 26 feet. My main room is 26 feet by 22 feet with an 11 foot ceiling. I have drafts and have tried to seal them to the best of my ability. I put plastic on all the windows. I put socket sealers in all of the outlet boxes and wall switches. I have caulked small gaps and used non expanding foam in the larger gaps. My bed room is drafty but I have left the door open as I do not have a return air in the bedroom. (I have a central HVAC unit). Does anyone have a recommendation on the type/brand of infrared heater to get? I am not sure as to the BTUs I need nor am I sure of the wattage needed, but I have a Heat Surge flameless fireplace that at its highest setting pumps out about 5100 BTUs, but that only heats an 18 foot by 18 foot room. I want something that puts out just enough BTUs to heat the dimensions I stated earlier in this message and keep me comfortable, but I want something is very cost efficient. I would appreciate any help one can give me. Thank you. moreResolved Question: Are household electric baseboard heaters more or less efficient than portable oil heaters?
Radiator type heaters that burn oil seem like an inexpensive option for heating rooms in a house. moreResolved Question: Could my house be haunted?
I moved in my house for 7 month but only recently have I began to notice the strange things going on. It started when money would start disappearing. Yes I know, this is easily to be explained as a thief in my house. BUT it was happening to everyone who lived with us.(Me,my mom, my boyfriend, and her boyfriend). Then my moms boyfriend's safe disappeared. My mom to this day swears that my boyfriend had something to do with it. But he was asleep in bed with me when it disappeared. Then not long after that the portable heater in my mom's room disappeared. We later found it in the laundry room. How it got there no one knows. Then most recently my mom's keys went missing for like 3 or 4 days. We looked everywhere including my purse and they were no where to be found. Then they show up....in my purse(which is impossible because I had no where to go that day. Ever since I had my little girl she stares at the same part of my room all the time! I don't know what she could be looking at because there is nothing that would particularly interest a baby in that direction. Now for the creepy part. A couple of nights ago I heard this eerie howling noise. I just figured it was one of my dogs. Well last night I hard it again 4 different times times and my dogs were in the house because it was cold out. Even weirder it came from three different parts of my house and my dogs were stuck in the living room. EVEN weirder I woke up to my baby laughing and "talking" really loud. She's only 8 weeks and never does that. She usually just "talks" a little bit but last night she was carrying a full excited conversation and she was staring at one particular place. It was long after this I heard the noise. After the 4th and final time I heard it I fell asleep briefly and woke up about 20 minutes later with this STRONG feeling like someone was watching me. I didn't go back to sleep until the sun came back up.explain the howling i hear in my house then and how EVERYONES stuff comes up missing and I keep my door locked.btw my money disapears when im the only person in my room.there is no key to my door eitheroh yea and the ppl who lived here before us thought the house was haunted but we thought they were just crazywell finally a logical open minded answer. I did make sure to check everything for flaws....trust me I wouldnt have posted my question without thoroughly making sure there was no way for stuff to dissapear. I dont really intend on calling any experts yet...unless stuff starts flying across the room or my baby acts negativly for no reason. Also it isnt my bf because my money would disapear on nights that he wasnt even here.I even got into the habit of hiding my money where no one would be able to look without me knowing and it would be gone. So I think my house is haunted. I was the type of person who has always been a skeptic. Even when I would see and hear things as a kid but this is just weird. And the howling it doesnt sound like any animal...it almost sounds human but at the same time there is something totally inhuman about it...maybe if I hear it tonight Ill record it like the crazies from ghost adventures loli didnt say i didnt believe i just was skeptical...i dont really have a choice but to believe because the house I grew up in was haunted...(footsteps and manifestations) moreResolved Question: Don't need heat in the house. What Temperature i should leave my thermostat?
I've a 2600 sq house. 3 oil heating zones. We have construction going on in the house so we will be living in one bedroom in the house until construction is done. Don't want to waste heating oil, so I leave thermostat to 65 F in day time and 55 F at the night time. Today is below 2 degrees (30 F ) and in house Temperature is still 64 so the heat is hardly kicking in. If I leave oil boiler off when the weather is around 34 F to 46 would it freeze the pipes. Even when its 34 outside my in house Temperature is 63 somehow (good for me) but I'm confuse what to do, leave the oil burner off and just turn it on when the Temperature goes in teens, since I really don't need the house to be heat up since I'm using portable heater for just one room. please advise. thanks.I can surely setup the temprature at 50F to be safe if I don't need heat in the house and I don't end up with busted pipes. But what i don't understand is my house temprature doesn't goes down below 57 F even if it's 28F outside, so at this temprature, if I leave thermostat at 50F, boiler won't kick in until the in house temprature drops to 50F which I doubt. So, why leaving boiler off is not an option, since leaving boiler on it starts cycle every 30-40 minutes for 5-10 minutes to keep the water tank hot @ 140,so basically boiler is working 24/7 without need of providing heat above 50F. And again as I said current temprature outside is 25 and my house temprature with electric fireplace is 66F. So, is it safe for me to turn boiler off with above condition. Not that I want to be cheap, but if I can save safely why not ! moreResolved Question: What would be the best type of portable heater to use in a power outage in my small home? Propane or Kerosene?
We've had a few power outages with severe winter storms in the last couple years, I'd like to get a smaller size heater to heat up a couple rooms if I'm left without power for a couple days. As a female, I'm looking for safety but also want it to not cost too much. I've seen small propane heaters at Lowe's for around $70 that come with a small propane tank and you can buy extra, but not sure if Kerosene would be a better choice. (Of course I will have a fire extenguisher nearby and it would only be used when I was iced in at my home and there to monitor it). I have a barn and 10 acres about 15 minutes from my house. It is starting to cold! The only real shelter from the cold is my tack room. Its about 12ftx12ft. It is completely sheet rocked and insulated. My problem lies with the only electricity for the barn is solar power! It is also on DC power. There is not enough energy for an electric heater. So I have to use some kind of portable heater that runs off of something other then electricity. So my options are propane, butane and karoseen. I am worried about fire risk, and fumes. Which is the safest and most economical? I spend almost every waking moment at the barn, and riding horses. I live in Texas so the cold is not that extreme, but it is still cold. moreVoting Question: How to make a botle while on the go?
I just recently had my first so I'm completely clueless as to how to make a bottle while on the go. Can I fill bottles with previously boiled but now room temperature water and just mix the formula in when hes ready or do I have to heat the bottle in some way before I give it to him? Is there any way to give him a bottle while were out without a portable heater? Could I fill the bottles with boiling water before we leave so that they are warm when he wants than as long as they are not still too hot by the time i mix them and give it to him? He is a little over 2 weeks old if that makes any difference. moreResolved Question: what are the best heaters?
I have a great room for my living room and the heat is electric..every winter I am paying 500.00 a month for heat..Anyone know of a portable heater that heats a large room?the ones I have tried just area heat..thanks moreResolved Question: What wattage do old baseboard electric heaters usually operate at?
I have a 6' and a 4' Fasco baseboard electric running in my living room. The house was constructed in 1976, and I figure the heaters are probably original. There are no labels anywhere indicating the power consumption. I want to purchase a portable 750/1500 watt portable heater to use instead of the baseboard heater, but not if it actually consumes more power than the baseboard - that would be pointless. Any of you HVAC guys out there have any idea what the wattage of these old baseboard heaters typically was?Why a I wanting to purchase a portable electric to use instead of the baseboard heat? Because our baseboards are along a wall that our desk and filing cabinet are up against (it's the only available wall in the room). We have the furniture positioned about 5" from the heaters, but it seems much of the heat is being used to heat the furniture, not the room. Plus, we're looking at a neat little electric "fake wood stove" heater to put in the room. But if it's rated at or near what the baseboards are, it would be pointless. moreVoting Question: Whats the best cost efficient/ safe way to heat up my attic?
I just purchased my house last week and realized that the upstairs doesnt have any heating system. The heat that is in there was only a long portable baseboard electric heating system, which fooled me. It Looked just like a real heater up against the wall. Does anyone know of a good heating source? The room is being refinished for a bedroom for my children. I live in upstate NY and the winters get COLD!!! The room is roughly about 16 by 12ft. Thanks in advance!! moreResolved Question: Are those portable camping gas heaters easy to operate and safe to use?
I got one for emergencies such as power cuts. Anyway I got as far as installing a canister of butane, following the instructions, but it hissed a lot and I smelled a lot of gas in the room. I didn't want to risk testing the ignition, and opened the window to let the fumes out. I'm concerned about using it if that happens each time you put a cartridge in.You seem to have to do a lot of things at the same time and quickly to get it ignited. You have to pull a ring as well as turning the knob anti clockwise, but at the same time gas was hissing out all over the place so I didn't risk attemting to light. I took cartridge out. This is a pic of the type of heater it is http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/images/product/main/HIGEAR-HEATER.jpgLOL yeah I suppose it's like anything first time attempting to use. I must have got the sequence wrong or turned knob too far or something. Room was full of gas, stinks horrible as well but gone now. I have plenty of spare cans cause it came with a pack of 8. moreVoting Question: how do i help a person that only cares about themselves and fights with other when they try to help?
My sister lives with my parents and me. she has a 1 and a half year old child with no husband... today my mom walked into her room to turn on a portable heater because it was below 60 in there. the baby woke up and my sister started flipping out at my mom. she started swearing at my mom with the worst of swears and later she hit her pushing out of her room, after that she through one of the baby's toys at her. My parents both want to kick her out of the house but they fear for the kid because my sister is a terrible mother and is unable to live on her own. I have a van and not a ton of room and also want to be safe. I also want to take into account the cost of fuel. I live in KS and tailgate at sporting events EVERY weekend. Which one of these options is worth my money. Also how portable are kerosene heaters. I would I would just like your opinions thank you. Both would cost me $100 so same price. This will go in my 10'x10' canopy. moreResolved Question: Suggestions ? Vent+Question. I need more from my family.?
I am 16, and for the past year I have been sleeping on a couch in the dining room with no door. I don't have a bedroom because I used to sneak out, sneak people in, or do drugs when I had a room with a door. I can't handle this any more, reasons why ? okay : - The window's size is 1/2 of the wall, with a big space in the class that makes it amazingly cold. - No doors so I cant even use a portable heater. - No door = I'm not a free stripper :( My step dad/step bros have walked in on my WAY too many times >=( - I go to a different school than the rest of the family, which starts the earliest, I have to be up by 5:30, and in bed by 10. However, the living room is sort of a part of my room, and theyre so loud I can't sleep. - I have breathing problems, and when my mom cooks certain foods, I can't even close the doors to block off the smell. - I put up curtains, but they only lasted a week before they got accidently torn down by these roudy kids. - I used to share the room with my sister, but she wont let me back in, and my moms on her side. - My last room/ the storage room in the basement is taken up by my step brother who is only here 2/4 wks a month. No chance of getting it back, as he's a stubborn little turd. - I have no closet system, only laundry baskets to put my clothes in. Where my " dining room" is, it's near impossible to put anything big past the entrance, and past the flight of stairs. Theres much more, but I have to go to school. I'm already 2 hours late LOL. Just venting mostly, but any suggestions ? I'm going crazy. I'm the oldest, and I just have no privacy, and I sure as hell deserve it. I don't do anything bad anymore, theres no need for the lack of privacy. Help please, thanks. moreVoting Question: What is the best portable AC and Heater combo?
I need to know what is the best AC and heater since it gets really hot and cold in my room from different times. Also where I could buy it cheap, fast and reliable would be great. moreResolved Question: What is the best type of portable heater for a 220 sf room?
I've been trying to research heaters and I'm completely baffled. I read about this Lasko portable baseboard heater at Lowe's, which supposedly heats up to 400sf, but I find this hard to believe. It's only 5 inches by 40 inches. The room is an add-on with tons of windows and not well insulated, so I want to be sure to get something that will be capable of getting the chill out. Our house is in Texas, where it rarely gets below freezing, but it does stay very chilly at night for a few months. moreVoting Question: Some sort of portable water heater?
I'm pretty sure something like this does exist but I haven't been able to find it: I'm looking for some sort of coffee mug or travel cup-like container that can heat water with power from a wall outlet. My goal here is to find something that will allow me make tea in my dorm room without using a hot plate or stove (the school considers them a fire hazard). Is anyone aware of such a device? links would be helpful moreVoting Question: Does anyone know where i can find a portable heater with a thermostat on it?
I need a heater to keep one room at a set degree. i don't mean one with a red to blue knob, i need one with a digital thermostat that i can pick the degree on. I've seen online where people have manually hooked up thermostats to them, i wouldn't mind buying a custom one, but i would rather have one that was sold like that. Please, I've looked everywhere. moreTop Room Heaters Portable Links
