Resolved Question: we can't even pay all of our bills & my boyfriend spends hundreds of dollars on beer cigarettes & energy drink?
He promised me if I were ever to get pregnant he would quit smoking with me and cut back on the drinking. We've been together 5 years, I didn't really want kids but to his joy I ended up getting pregnant & now we have a beautiful 5 month old baby boy. My bf says he wants to get married and spend the rest of his life with me, but doesn't act like he does at all and won't even put aside a couple dollars here and there for a cheap ring, he had a jar labeled 'wedding ring' that he would throw his change into & I saw him dump a few dollars out of it to buy a beer! (I'm kinda glad though 'cause if he did ask me I wouldn't want to say yes at this point) My bf lost his job last year and is making considerably less $, we are behind on rent and live very poor. I don't spend a penny on any unnecessary item and stay at home w/ the baby trying to make some extra $ on ebay. I'd like to get a part time job but can't leave him w/ the baby because if he cries for a few minutes my bf complains that it's giving him a headache and he won't hold him for more than a min because 'it hurts his back'. He admits that he's an alcoholic (not mean or always drunk, just needs a few beers every day) he buys a pack of smokes every 1-2 days and gets an energy drink before wk every day, he wont drink coffee @ home 'cause its not the same' he says 'i'm wking so i should b able to buy this stuff when i want, it's better than not wking at all!' what kind of reasoning is that??? I gathered his receipts that i could find and in the last 9 days he spent $70 just on drinks & smokes! I bring it up to him but not in a bitchy way, I even say things like 'we have spent' instead of 'you' so I try not to sound like i'm accusing and more like informing. But there's really nothing I can do but suffer. I don't want my son growing up with such a crappy role model. I know I should have thought about this a long time ago & I did, but for some reason I just didn't leave. My family likes him & he really loves his baby & me, but I just can't get over how selfish and idiotic he acts (oh & he has sleep apnea & won't do anything about it, not believing it affects us & not just him, we've been sleeping in separate rooms for almost a month now). I want to leave but I don't want my son to grow up without his father, but at the same time I don't want him to grow up with his father :( & how am I supposed to support us when my baby wants to nurse constantly and I don't have anyone to watch him? I am in such a predicament and am getting more and more upset about it. I don't know what to do... :'(We've had many many calm sit down conversations for a long time and i've realized the only way he'll change is when he's ready. He knows about the bills situation but just doesn't want to be responsible about it. My mother is FAR too busy to be able to regularly care for my baby while i'm at work which is why I need to find something i can do from home but it will take a while for me to be able to start making the money I'll need to be able to support us from home. moreResolved Question: Some nice words for u..?

i was having a great life, alot of friends, and courage, and enjoyed life. i started playing WoW online 8th grade and started smoking weed about freshman year time to time, i played WoW for two years and stopped really hanging out with my friends and started to become lonely and sad but not that bad. after freshman year i came better friends and quit WoW with the same people ive been friends with since 3rd grade. we always hung out a really tight group of friends. that i started drinking in junior year and smoking more weed almost daily. i started becoming sad and started thinking i had a mental illness where i said things outloud and never knew it, i tryed testing myself with water in my mouth but water never came out, yet i still thought i had a wierd mental illness, yet i dont actually. i then did shrooms and had a badish trip where i went to sleep and had a crazy dream. since that day ive been very different, loss of reality, depression, and lost of confidence, im terrified to speak in public now. i stopped smoking weed after this due to my condition for about a year and started feeling better, but still had a loss of reality and depressed. its not college and i havent done shrooms again, and never am going to.. but im still very depressed only really hang out with friends a few times a week, and feel like i have no purpose in life, and im a loser, which no one likes because my good friends dont call me really anymore,. no one does. i really dont like life, and everytime i see a item/ picture that i had when i was younger i just about cry because i remember how much i enjoyed life and how nice of a person i was. currently i feel depressed/ alone/ and dont want to stay around where i am. can anyone tell me what i should do?all i want, is to go back in time to when i was in 8th grade before this transformation begun, i feel like the old me doesnt live in this body anymore. moreResolved Question: Question about toxic items for parrots?
Hi there :) I'd like to know about the toxic household items on this website. I know they can get sick from them, but is it when they ingest it or just smell or scent it in the air? Here are a few specific ones I'm worried about ~ Carpet Cleaners Deodorants Felt Tip Markers Cigarette Smoke (my mum smokes, but is quitting) Nailpolish/Remover Perfume (from a distance. I wouldn't use it in my room, but if the bird got a little sniff of it from down the hall?) Superglue Tea Tree Oil Wax Window Cleaners Could you please state if it's actually tasting it, or just sniffing it. Answer as many as you can please. Thanks so much. http://www.parrot-and-conure-world.com/non-toxic-for-birds.htmlBTW. my mom doesn't smoke in the house. It might just carry on the clothing. Thanks Kevin, but i don't use them in my room anyways, so it's not a problem. I don't use perfume, so it would just be others in my family. moreResolved Question: Please help! eating disorder/depression/identity crisis?
Firstly, I am very sorry for the size of this but I have never let this information out of me before and it really needs to all be here. Secondly, I’m sorry that it’s all over the place, its unedited and raw. Please, please, please read and help. - I'm a 22 year old male - 60kg / 180cm (very under weight) - Every meal is a chore and it's not very often I will look forward to eating, however, on some rare occasions I do. Very small appetite and definite lack of interest in food, even when I get hungry I don’t enjoy satisfying those feelings with food. - During EVERY meal I feel nauseous or find it very difficult to swallow the food. (I know this must be a bad problem and I’ve left it now for over 2-3 years) - I desperately want to get bigger, muscle/fat/WEIGHT but I can't lift weights without giving my spine grief. (as i explain in a further point). - I feel so unattractive being skinny (even though my ex was honestly a very attractive girl/women). - I doubt myself a lot, and very much am constantly confused by my actions and decisions. I frequently do things that I will later think to myself, "why did i want to do that, why did i do that", and I know we all do this but it is a constant day to day saga. An identity crisis of some sort. - I’m always frowning and being negative especially when I’m by myself. - I read motivational books and they’re great! But I lack the inspiration to actually utilize the information. - I frequently criticize myself and I know and have read that your internal dialogue is very destructive but I can’t seem to stop it! - I don’t have hobbies! I have a guitar, a telescope, a nice car, an xbox, books, etc and I will lose interest almost straight after I purchase the item. It hasn’t always been like this, when I was younger I loved skateboarding. - I don’t really FEEL anything good. It’s so immensely difficult to stay happy for longer than a laugh. - I've smoked marijuana for a couple of years, not in high quantities but on frequent occasions, 5-6 nights out of 7. 90% of my friends smoke marijuana or do other drugs. I've quit on two/three occasions for between two and three months. I currently haven't smoked for 9 days and have a much better attitude about quitting, I've realized the situation with my mental health is actually of concern. - Even though I make these silly decisions I am generally level headed and at work am a different person, the majority of the time I work well and properly finish tasks. I go to uni as of 3 weeks ago. I’m thinking that a lot of these negative things I’m listing could be related to the environment I’m always in (my room, on the internet, on yahoo answers, facebook (but not really actually actively using it) - I used to be a lot of fun to be around and now I feel like I'm such a burden on people. Amazingly though, I have quite a lot of friends. Only one of my friends really knows the war that’s going on inside my head. - I always put tasks off that I need to do and leave things to the last minute, I greatly lack motivation and inspiration and waste my time on the internet or aimlessly seeing friends. - Both of my parents have social disorders and so does my sister, all three are different (aspergers syndrome, bi-polar, social issues). However, all are loving but lack any real and genuine interest in my life. - I was going out with a beautiful, level headed girl for 3.5 years and she recently (3 weeks ago) broke up with me and I'm very much struggling dealing with jealousy and loneliness. This has also added to my constant low mood. - I have issues with my spine and it aches 80% of the time, I saw a chiro for 12 months but it is only worse now. I'm fairly sure this plays a large role in my low mood because it's constantly on my mind bringing me down. I'm on a massive waiting list to see someone in the public health system and unless I spend around $200 to see someone privately. - I lie a lot, not about big things but to improve a story or have information to add to a conversation and these things feel like my dirty little secrets, I constantly am hypocritical. AND I hate being like this. Let me just add that I’m not suicidal. So my question is, who do I see, how bad is this situation, comments or opinions would be greatly appreciated, I don’t know where to turn!asian - Thank you for an actual response! But no, I’m not gay, I think I have an identity crisis because I am confused about who I want to be. I’m Australian, btw. Yeah, I must be depressed, what a burden this is going to be! My parents ‘care’ but they don’t REALLY care, it’s difficult to explain. Because of their social disorders they don’t connect with me, like I know I mean the world to both of them, but they really are clueless with what I do day to day, there is no active interest in my life. (lack of attention you could say). I’m very sorry to hear about ur situation, if u do ever need someone to chat to ur welcome to drop me a line.***It just occurred to me, but as pathetic as it sounds I really need to be genuinely loved. moreResolved Question: Due soon, and don't have any necessities!! Help?
My sister is 8 months pregnant, but is taking contraction medication. The doctor says the baby could be coming anytime now. Regardless of whether or not baby Scott comes now, or in 4 weeks, my sister doesn't have: -diapers -a crib -blanket/s -a car seat -bottles -formula -.......Anythinnnngggg!! She was fired from 2/3 jobs about the time she became pregnant, and had to quit her third job, working in a club (cigarette smoke, drinks were too tempting, not a safe place for her and baby Scott, etc.) She doesn't have the money to get these things, and she is already living in a garbage-dump-of-an-apartment, in El Monte. (with the help of baby's daddy) MY QUESTION: How can I help her get these things?? I'm only 18 and can barely afford diapers, myself. I bought her 50 diapers, some onesies, a pacifier, and a "Lovie". She is too proud to collect from charity, but if I bring her donated/ charitable items, she won't ask where it came from. Is there a place near/ around Covina Ca., that will help even without the parents present?? The hospital won't discharge her until she gets a carseat! Thank you,Allison D: Yes, co-sleeping may be a good way to avoid a crib. Only, I believe she is sleeping on a twin sized bed. Breast feeding is also a great idea, along with cloth diapers! See, the trouble is, she has pushed away everyone else in her life. She is only a sophomore in College (she's had to drop out), and her friends are busy with NOT worrying about a baby. Great friends, huh? She's pushed away from family and now nobody is willing to help her. She isn't exactly talking to me either. But nonetheless, regardless of her immature attitude (and our family's), she is my sister. And Scott is my nephew. I can't do anything but send these things to her apt. moreResolved Question: To what length would you go to quit smoking/ any other addiction?
Sat, Aug 1 04:05 PM London, Aug 1 (ANI): A retired senior Brit banker has decided to live on a deserted island for a month in a bid to quit smoking. Geoff Spice, 56, from Surrey, started smoking 43 years ago while working as a paperboy, after stealing some cigarettes from the shop where he was working. Spice has now decided to become a castaway on Sgarabhaigh, a 40-acre uninhabited island in the Outer Hebrides, and the former managing director for NM Rothschild, the top London investment bank, will have to camp outdoors as there are no houses. Sgarabhaigh, which means Cormorant Island in Gaelic, also has no electricity or water supply, and so he will rely for fires from driftwood and a camp stove and bottled water. The island has plenty of sheep on it, but is free of rabbits, and Spice has decided against fishing. "I'm a bit apprehensive now that the time is almost here about spending the month on the island by myself but I'm determined to see it through," the Telegraph quoted him as saying. "Today I'm going to have one last cigarette and give the rest of the packet to my wife and get on the boat to the island. "This is my last chance. I've been smoking 30 a day as usual but I think I can crack the habit. "I am taking plenty of midge repellent though ironically they say that smoking helps keep the insect away," he said. In order to do away with boredom, he hopes to be able to learn to play the guitar, and he will be taking with him an iPod that contains the text of 120 books. The other items of necessity that he will be taking are a mobile phone and a computer, and both will be powered by a photovoltaic solar cell, which will also have a wind-up handle as a back up to generate electricity. Dave Hill, the island's owner, has arranged for Spice to be dropped off on Sgarabhaigh and picked up a month later. "If he rings to say he cannot stand it without a cigarette we will ignore it until it gets to three calls. He must have time to reflect on his decision," Hill said. Spice had previously tried nicotine patches and gum, a self-help book and going cold turkey in an effort to kick the habit, but nothing worked. The former banker first considered staying on an uninhabited island a decade ago, when he was living in Australia, but was worried about the spiders and snakes there. He found Sgarabhaigh by Googling 'Uninhabited Scottish Islands'. "I will miss my wife Elena, my children and my family very much but I understand that my mobile phone will work on the island so we can speak that way," Spice said. "I'm hoping that my plan will work, I'll stop smoking and my month on the island may lead to many years of extra life that I'll be able to spend with them," he added. (ANI) moreResolved Question: Relationship problems! Please help :(?
I am having some issues with my bf recently. We have been together over 5 years, I am 21, he is 23. We hardly ever fight and usually get along really well. He decided to quit smoking on my birthday, which was almost three weeks ago. Ever since then he has been moody, grumpy, snappy and nearly impossbile to deal with. We haven't been spending that much time together. He's working a lot and comes over at night and all he wants to do is play videogames til we go to bed. And when I try to talk to him he is in a bad mood Today we went to the mall and we got into this huge fight over nothing. I had a gift card for my birthday and he suggested i spend it on him. I told him I get him stuff all the time this is my gift card. He said he gets me stuff all the time like flowers. I told him the only time he got me flowers was when he was on my bad side. Then he blew up at me and told me to shut up and freaked out. When we got to the mall I was pissed and just left and did my own shopping. On the way home he told me what he is really mad about is that he has no money and here I am going shopping. I told him it was mostly gift cards and I don't see how fair it is that just because he doesn't have money I can't go shopping for myself He said the reason he doesn't have money is because he has to pay when we go out to eat. Which I'll be honest he does usually pay. Although the last two times we went out I paid. And we have really cut down on going out. He said he is pissed because I wanted to see a movie tonight, we had a free ticket and reg tickets are like 4.50, and I would expect him to pay and he doesn't have any money Just to clarify his parents paid for all four years of his college, he has been out for a year now and can't find a full time job so is working a crappy part time job but almost 40hrs a week, making like 10 an hour and just started going back to school, his parents are giving him money for college still. I know he is also upset because he can't find a job, the job market out here is horrible. My parents aren't paying for college I pay 1000 out of pocket every semester and u know what they dont pay for my shoes and clothes llike his so I have to buy my own. Also I don't have a job right now because I was working at a daycare and it closed for the summer Basically I save my money really well and I think I have the right to buy myself a few items of clothing every once in a while!!!! Sorry about the all the rambling I was venting. My question is do u think he is just in a bad mood because he quit smoking and is just looking for fights. Or do u think I really am taking advantage of him and should give him more money. How can I make this better we never fight and now we are miserable :( moreResolved Question: Idea's for last minute gifts for Christmas in July party tomarrow?

THANKS moreResolved Question: Am I gay or just confused?
I need to know whether I'm actually gay or just going through a weird time in my life right now. I'll provide as much detail as a I can, along with the ages. 10-12) I was interested in girls 14-17 (present) I am interested in boys (Had sex with a boy at the beginning of my junior year in high school) 1) Girls do not turn me on in any form, but I do oftentimes judge their looks. 2) I am a conservative and wish to vote republican. 3) I am a Deist with Christian friends. 4) I have 2 Labrador Retrievers and I hate cats. 5) My favorite car is a 69' Ford Mustang GT Fastback. 6) I have a '97 Nissan Pathfinder, I want a truck. (F150 or F250) 7) I smoke and drink heavily (I don't know if this is a deciding factor or not...) 8) I used to be a criminal (at 15 years old, I robbed Harris Teeter during school hours for alcohol, but quit once I could potentially be arrested) and now I'm adamantly against it 9) I'm not sensitive emotionally unless someone cries, and I'm completely immune to women's drama thanks to my mum crying on my shoulder about her issues when I was 12 and 13ish. 10) I work out 1-2 hours a day. I wear a speedo when I swim and when no one is looking! :D 11) I cook a LOT! (mostly grilling) 12) My favorite food item is the burger. 13) I have limited empathy for animals (I love my dogs with all my heart, but I'll say "Oh, he's gonna get hit" when I'm about to run over a squirrel - I'll never swerve) 14) I wear boxers in public and boxer briefs in private. 15) I wear jeans/khaki shorts and polo T-shirts normally. 16) I think fashion trends are tacky, that's why I don't follow them. 17) I own 4 guns that I have payed for out of my own pocket. 18) I carry a pocket knife with me wherever I go. (And brass knuckles if they were legal) If anyone else has anymore questions, just ask them and I'll add additional details to my question. Thanks! You'd be surprised at how often the pocket knife comes in handy. When I'm out boating, I sometimes have to cut seaweed off the prop. I also use it to cut the packages of things after we get home, just so we don't have to run upstairs to get a knife. When we're fishing, sometimes we get the line hung up on marsh grass or on an oyster rake. If that happens, we have to cut the line and put another rig on.I don't really "check girls out." When I notice them, I'm quick to make a remark about their appearance. I've never had sex with a girl before though. I've always used my sexuality as an excuse to avoid going out with girls.I have guns because they're a good investment, they're fun to shoot, and we live close to several bad neighborhoods/trailer parks. I've never hit an animal with my 97 pathfinder. I'm just saying, I don't give a damn if I do hit it... I'm not going to swerve out of the road to hit an oncoming car or someone's house to save the life of a squirrel dumb enough to run across the road.By saying my favorite food is a burger, I'm pointing out the fact that I'm not a vegan. moreResolved Question: is new cigarette tax permanant?
Ive heard that the new cigarette tax was implemented to help healthcare industries and to assist in recovering gov't money and to help health insurance to be more affordable. Is all this true? If so, then what happens when everyone quits cause only well to do people can afford them? Doesnt look like a solid plan to me. Ive checked into insurance and I still cant afford it. So its not doing me any good. Seems like the tobacco industry is gonna go bankrupt if they dont lower their costs to offset these taxes. In my opinion they are violating rights by making so common an item too expensive for me to afford. Cigarettes are not like a rolls royce ya know. Lots of people enjoy smoking whether its eventually gonna kill them or not. You could include it as a pursuit of happiness. The gov't also just took the freedom of choice away from some people cause now some people cant afford to smoke anymore. I think they shouldve put this tax on alcohol. Cigarettes dont change a persons attitude or hibitions and it would discourage people from drinking so much. I can only guess that they were thinking of the amount of money they would make putting it on cigarettes vs alcohol and cigarettes sold more. I am actually surprised that in this world of frivolis lawsuits, no one has filed a lawsuit for emotional distress from withdraws because they couldnt afford to buy their next pack lol. moreVoting Question: Friend Drama =/ Any advice?
It's a very complicated story but here it goes! So a couple months ago my friend Gabby started liking this guy named Kyle. Me, Gabby, and this girl Ali were all best friends and happy for her when it seemed like she had a chance. But it turned out it was just his friends playing a joke on Gabby. Soon after this whole situation Ali and Kyle were woking in the same restaurant and they began to like eachother. Ali felt bad and never made a move on Kyle until we were all at a party. After a few drinks Ali and Kyle kissed which led to a drama-filled night. I was upset because I felt that Ali wasnt being very considerate of Gabby's feelings and Gabby was very hurt. Even though Gabby claimed she was over Kyle I knew that she wasnt and I advised Ali to give it more time. Stay friends with him until youre sure that Gabby's over him. But eventually everything seemed to blow over. We were all friends again. Gabby started liking someone else by the name of Joey, Ali and Kyle became an item, and I was just happy to be having fun. But another problem arose when Joey claimed that he liked me. I never liked Joey but afterwards when Gabby found out, i sensed some tension between us. We still hung out but it wasnt the same. Also there were problems between Ali and kyle because while Kyle claimed that he had quit smoking, there were two instances where Gabby claimed he had smoked. This made Ali very mad at Kyle. But it seemed suspicious when Gabby's sources claimed they never told Gabby such things. After hearing this, Ali and I began to think that Gabby was trying to ruin her and Kyle's relationship. But things continued like normal. Eventually Ali and Kyle decided to break up and just remain friends. Everything seemed great until thursday afternoon when Joey texted me asking how Ali was taking "the whole Gabby and Kyle situation.." At that point I had no idea what he was talking about. But apparently Gabby and Kyle, both very drunk, hooked up at a recent party and once I found out it was true I was very hurt myself. I almost felt like crying. But i called Ali and told her everything. She was crushed. She felt that Gabby was being a horrible friend and she was very angry. According to Gabby she said that Kyle had told her that Ali was talking about her to him while they were going out. And she said "At that moment I really didnt care about you." Later that day Me and a few other friends brought Ali to where Gabby was so that they could talk. But there was alot of yelled, alot of name calling, and some hurt feeling, mostly on Gabby's side. She was humiliated. A few days later all 3 of us spoke on the phone. And told eachother what we were feeling. How all of us were pretty hurt. Myself because I had talked to Gabby many times about morals and she had told me once before that she was always thinking about other peoples feelings. When she did this it made me feel like she was betraying me. By being a liar and a hypocrite and it made me scared that she could do the same thing to me. Ali was hurt because Gabby was supposed to be her best friend and she felt betrayed that Gabby would do this to her. And Gabby was hurt because of the lies she was told by Kyle and the angry hurtful words of Ali. But it seemed like we were finally going to settle the drama and possibly be friends again. Gabby said that she would call us later but she never did. A week later and still nothing. I miss Gabby but I feel like I shouldnt be the one to contact her and I know Ali feels the same way. Help?!?I know its long but please bare with me! I really don't know what to do! =/ moreResolved Question: Allen Carr's EASY WAY to stop SMOKING?
My bf is 24 and has mild emphysema as he's been smoking for over 10 years, smoking once /hr or so. He keeps trying to stop and now he's into smoking black & milds, ...i think he's doing this because he feels like he wants to quit but doesnt want to feel guilty when he does smoke, so he just gets one smoking-item instead of going through several, despite that he's still smoking the same amount of tobacco, etc... anyway, I bought him the "Easy way" audio book and I was thinking of giving it to him with some cigarettes. I thought about doing this for 2 reasons. 1. the book encourages you to not feel deprived of having cigarettes and says you can even smoke while listening to the CD 2. though the book allows for cigarette smoking, I doubt he'll actually give in and buy a pack bc he'll feel guilty....so I want to help him get out of this mental rut associated with trying to quit so he can do so w/o feeling deprived....so, I'll just provide them IF YOU KNOW ABOUT THE "Easy Way" do you think that providing him with the cigarettes will be a good idea? or do you not think that it will have any effect? I came out of an eating disorder not too long ago and learned that self-deprivation sometimes can make quitting a bad habit worse.....so I really want to help him out since he seems a bit conflicted with his situation. Ive just started taking Wellbutrin for the second time in my life. First tiem was to help with quitting smoking. But I found I loved how I felt and it helped my ADD alot. Now several years later, having failed on a couple ADD meds, Im back to Wellbutrin. Ive been noticing that Im really forgetful. I cant remembember where anything is; my keys, my book Ive been reading, my bank card! They are all missing. Ive had a bit of family stress..so that adding to the new med.. could that cause a lot of forgetfulness? Luckily so far it only seems to be related to missing items. Anyone else have this? Talk to me! moreResolved Question: BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICATION NO LONGER NEEDED?
Ok.... So here I am again asking a question for opinions.. Seriously I don't think I trust my doctor. He was new to me a month ago and I went in with a BP of 140/100 stressed out and overweight 248 lbs and 5ft 7 and drinking and smoking. So now 1 month later.. I quit smoking when I walked out his door (social smoker maybe like a pack a week) but I still quit and no drinking same day (about 20-30 beers a week)... I have lost 28 pounds. And I am doing cardio 4 times a week and eating tons of really healthy organic fresh foods. Ones that are targeted for lowering BP and Cholesterol... So now.. As of 3 days ago... I started taking only 1/2 of my prescribed dose of my Amlodipine which was 5mg. So for the last 2 days I have only taken 2.5mg. When I was taking the 5mg my BP was dropping really low like 92/64 low... Now with only the 2.5mg I am staying in the 107-111/68-74 ranges.... I called the doctor to tell him the great news and his nurse was like.. Yeah well that could be a fluke don't stop taking meds. I don't think I need them anymore. This doctor has been very ambitious about several items with my health which I find nice as he doesn t ignore my concerns.. But also I feel like he is treating me like a gereatric patient at the same time.. As this is a large percentage of his patients.. i am only 38 years old.. Female by the way.... :o)..... Any opinons from experience or medical knowledge.. Thanks. moreResolved Question: Ex-Smokers,any suggestions for sugar cravings?

. . . before receiving any federal money, is it also fair to put conditions on people receiving welfare before they receive federal money? Would it be fair to say things like: "You must quit smoking and lose weight if you want to qualify for a state sponsored health care plan." "No one in this neighborhood receives a cent of welfare money until every scrap of trash is picked up and there is no graffiti on the walls." "We are not paying for you to buy marijuana. You must pass random drug tests if you want to collect unemployment benefits." "If you are collecting food stamps, then you don't have money for cable, internet, cell phones etc. Any purchase of these items will disllow your benefits." Notice I am not advocating either side of the argument. I am just curious to people's reaction to the argument. If the government has the right to tell a corporation what to do if it wishes to collect government money, then wouldn't it also have the right to tell individuals what to do if that person wishes to collect government money? moreResolved Question: Smokers, are you going to quit?
I don't smoke or use tobacco products, but for those of you who do, I am wondering if the new tax imposed on it, and related items such as rolling papers, to pay for health insurance for children without it, is going to make you quit smoking, or are you still going to pay the outragous prices? Just curiousEdit- beverly- This was not an Anti anyone question, this was simply to see what type of impact it might have. I am also intereted to see what kind of taxes they put on booze next. BTW plenty of low income people smoke also, in fact fro many it's the way they deal with stress, so isn't this going to hurt them more then a more well off person? moreResolved Question: Do you seriously believe that this "stimulus package does not have any pork spending or earmarks?
Read it and weep: $1 billion for Amtrak, which hasn’t earned a profit in four decades. $2 billion to help subsidize child care. $400 million for research into global warming. $2.4 billion for projects to demonstrate how carbon greenhouse gas can be safely removed from the atmosphere. $650 million for coupons to help consumers convert their TV sets from analog to digital, part of the digital TV conversion. $600 million to buy a new fleet of cars for federal employees and government departments. $75 million to fund programs to help people quit smoking. $21 million to re-sod the National Mall, which suffered heavy use during the Inauguration. $2.25 billion for national parks. This item has sparked calls for an investigation, because the chief lobbyist of the National Parks Association is the son of Rep. David R. Obey, D-Wisc. The $2,25 billion is about equal to the National Park Service’s entire annual budget. The Washington Times reports it is a threefold increase over what was originally proposed for parks in the stimulus bill. Obey is chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. $335 million for treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts. $4.19 billion to stave off foreclosures via the Neighborhood Stabilization Program. The bill allows nonprofits to compete with cities and states for $3.44 billion of the money, which means a substantial amount of it will be captured by ACORN, the controversial activist group currently under federal investigation for vote fraud. Another $750 million would be exclusively reserved for nonprofits such as ACORN – meaning cities and states are barred from receiving that money. Sen. David Vitter, R-La., charges the money could appear to be a “payoff” for the partisan political activities community groups in the last election cycle. $44 million to renovate the headquarters building of the Agriculture Department. $32 billion for a “smart electricity grid to minimize waste. $87 billion of Medicaid funds, to aid states. $53.4 billion for science facilities, high speed Internet, and miscellaneous energy and environmental programs. $13 billion to repair and weatherize public housing, help the homeless, repair foreclosed homes. $20 billion for quicker depreciation and write-offs for equipment. $10.3 billion for tax credits to help families defray the cost of college tuition. $20 billion over five years for an expanded food stamp program. There was also a statement that the current administration will not tolerate lobbiests, but the above says different. Congressional Budget Office calculates that the interest on the debt generated by the bill’s spending will cost another $347.1 billion, making the total cost approximately $1.17 trillion. moreResolved Question: detox??? tags:body, weed, fast, need job.?

I work at a company and there are persons that I have to interface with for doing day to day buisiness. When myself or other co-workers need things done and they give us incomplete paperwork it seems almost impossible to get them to correct it. They run and up-channel to management anything they do not want to do. I will give you a small example. The other day they wanted me to certify an item for use that I am required to stamp off on as a useable traceable part. When I brought up the fact that they gave me a document without a date on the document I asked them to see if they could call the vendor and ask if they could send a dated document. I was told they would work on doing so. After about 30 minutes had passed I was asked by my boss what the problem was and I explained to him that it did not have a date on it and I asked them to try and make a calll and get one provided. I dont have time to do this, and our procedures state when this happens to go back and return the documents to the person that gave it to you. Then i am to continue processing parts that are complete as far as documents and paperwork are concerned. My boss and I made a phone call across country and got them to send one to us in just a few minutes. My boss said sometimes you just have to take the path of least resistance. I asked him why this group does this (Up-channeling small issues to management) He does not know but thinks it is easier and quicker to not ruffle thier feathers. My feelings are that they need to stop the back stabbing and learn to play on the team. This group is part of the "smoking outside break" group and Nobody else can do any good, just they can. They have managed to cause employees to quit and have also caused much grief, management seems to not stand up to them, AND takes thier side like everyone but them have a problem. Looking to see if anyone has an opinion on the matter. Take a quick look at the following observations and conclusions, thanks. Ever wonder why marijuana is illegal? Some yes, some no, but let me assure you it isn’t why the government says it is. Addiction rates: Nicotine - 35% Cocaine - 19% Marijuana - 9% Death rates: Tobacco - 435,000 /yr Alcohol - 85,000 /yr All illicit drugs - 17,000/yr Marijuana - 0, in all of history * center for disease control Effects: *Tobacco Yellow teeth/nails/skin, emphysema, lung cancer, etc. *Marijuana Obvious acute effects, bronchitis (long term) -- notice I did NOT list cancer. ** A california study observing heavy marijuana users over the course of 8 years found that marijuana smokers were no more prone to cancer than non-smokers. Nicotine withdraw symptoms: -Physical * Tingling in the hands and feet * Sweating * Intestinal disorders (cramps, nausea) * Headache * Cold symptoms as the lungs begin to clear (sore throats, coughing, and other signs of colds and respiratory problem) -Mental/emotional * Feelings of being an infant: temper tantrums, intense needs, feelings of dependency, a state of near paralysis. * Insomnia * Mental confusion * Vagueness * Irritability * Anxiety * Depression is common in the short and long term. In the short term it may mimic the feelings of grief felt when a loved one is lost. As foolish as it sounds, a smoker should plan on a period of actual mourning in order to get through the early withdrawal depression. Marijuana withdraw symptoms: *** Scientists disagree whether there is significant withdrawal symptoms or not. A 1997 report by the Institute of Medicine stated that average users, due to the long half-life of marijuana, experience little or no withdrawal symptoms. However, they can include any/all of the following: irritability anxiety physical tension decreases in appetite and mood stomach pain physical tension restlessness anorexia insomnia increased aggression / anger strange dreams Other reasons why marijuana is still illegal: ** Police make ENORMOUS amounts of money from drug busts. If they can prove that the money was tied to criminal activity they are allowed to confiscate it. Legalization of marijuana would mean huge losses for: Police Courts (from fines) ** Tobacco lobbyists obviously oppose the legalization of marijuana. This would introduce competition into the market, or allow current tobacco smokers to quit and replace their habit with marijuana. Either way, the tobacco industry loses, meaning a big "hell no" from them. ** The drug industry would be absolutely crushed by the legalization of marijuana. Currently, the only way to obtain substances legally is by visiting a doctor (paying a fee), getting a FDA-approved prescription, and getting a couple more to counteract the side-effects of the first drug. Marijuana is used worldwide as an alternative medicine for many health issues. ** International treaties make it difficult for individual countries to change their laws. If they were to legalize marijuana, they would violate the treaty, and that would cost them certain benefits. ** Consumer items would see a drop in demand, as the necessity to have more and more entertainment would decline with the introduction of marijuana. With a reduction in demand, that would mean one of two things: -- Production would have to slow down, meaning less profits since less volume is moved through the stores. -- Reduction in sale price, as the supply will be the same (for a while) and the demand will decrease. It may seem ridiculous, but trust me many consumer items would see a decrease in sales. ** Pacifism would overtake america, at least in the smoking body, and would make it much more difficult to engage in conflicts with other countries, on any scale. War is the single most lucrative engagement, and a loss of money would certainly be against the interests of those currently benefiting. Not only that, but it will become much more difficult to get the american people rallied behind government-driven bills and actions. Keeping the american people gun-ho and ignorant is key for them to get their desired results. Pacifism would help reduce the "gun-ho" aspect of their success formula, and the resulting tact in their approach to political issues would likely result in many becoming educated with the fine-details of the matter. Educated decisions will collapse government corruption, which is very lucrative itself. ** Right-wing conservatives, armed with bible-in-hand (though from personal experience I can assure you they do not read, or at least interpret without distortion), will down-right refuse the legalization of marijauna. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Final notes: Now, for my personal opinion on the matter (drum roll ... ).... Despite whatever the health effects may be, it is my belief that it is the constitutional right of oIt does not matter what it does or does not do to your body friends, it only matters what rights are unwillingly be taken away from you. It is your right to choose for yourself, is it not? Doctors have the right to recommend what you should do, but not legislate it. I'm not convincing you of safety, just trying to open your eyes to reality. Americans today give too much choice to the government, as if they are scared to choose for themselves. I pity you, I really do, and it breaks my heart. I understand a huge drop in consumer demand is relative to it's total consumer base, but they WILL see a large drop in business. When I started smoking I spent more time with the people I cared about instead of working to buy big televisions and expensive cars. It is the memories I have with other people that keep me going, televisions will eventually break down and need to be replaced. Big tobacco will not start growing and selling. Why? Well obviously EVERYONE ELSE WOULD TOO. moreResolved Question: Does emptying the cigarette butt trash cans cause cancer or hurt your health in any way?
I work a part time job at night for a cleaning company. I clean a large company building and they have asked that I empty the cigarette butt receptacles for them. I have chosen to be a non-smoker and am thankful because I know how hard it is to quit smoking. I don't want any secondhand either though. The can I have to empty at work looks something like this. http://www.barcoproducts.com/images/upload/items/OP-0603.jpg Just wondering what the possible effects could be or if I should take certain precautions when doing this. moreResolved Question: please help me change my diet to be healthy?

Several weeks ago, I spoke to my mother about her smoking around my children (I was pregnant with #2 at the time). She agreed to talk to her doc about quitting. She never followed through, and I now have a preemie at home. She smells of smoke, as do all of her items. She is spending the night, and plans on wearing a jacket while smoking. I don't think it's enough, and don't want her to smoke AT ALL while at my home. Her feelings are hurt, but I feel betrayed by her lack of follow through. Whenever I find the key to success, someone changes the lock. To err is human, to forgive is not a COMPANY policy. The road to success…….. is always under construction. Alcohol doesn't solve any problems, but if you think again, neither does milk. In order to get a loan, you first need to prove that you don't need it. All the desirable things in life are either illegal, expensive or fattening. Since light travels faster than sound, people appear brighter before you hear them speak. Everyone has a scheme of getting rich….. which never works. If at first you don't succeed…. Destroy all evidence that you ever tried. You can never determine which side of the bread to butter. If it falls down, it will always land on the buttered side. Anything dropped on the floor will roll over to the most inaccessible corner. 42.7% of all statistics is made on the spot. As soon as you mention something…… if it is good, it is taken…. If it is bad, it happens. He who has the gold, makes the rules ---- Murphy's golden rule. If you come early, the bus is late. If you come late…… the bus is still late. Once you have bought something, you will find the same item being sold somewhere else at a cheaper rate. When in a queue, the other line always moves faster and the person in front of you will always have the most complex of transactions. If you have paper, you don't have a pen……. If you have a pen, you don't have paper…… if you have both, no one calls. Especially for engineering students---- If you have bunked the class, the professor has taken attendance. You will pick up maximum wrong numbers when on roaming. All buses are crowded. However, all buses in opposite direction always go empty. The door bell or your mobile will always ring when you are in the bathroom. After a long wait for bus no.20, two 20 number buses will always pull in together and the bus which you get in will be crowded than the other. If your exam is tomorrow, there will be a power cut tonight. The last person to be fired or quit is responsible for all the errors until another person is fired or quits. Irrespective of the direction of the wind, the smoke from the cigarette will always tend to go to the non-smoker. moreResolved Question: Necessity Stamps instead of food stamps?
We could save your tax money in the United States by allowing people to purchase preventive medicine items with 'necessity stamps'. 1. Tobacco cessation. The smoker's that I know want to quit. If they had nicotine patches and nicotine gum they could quit and save a lot of money, not having to buy smokes and lighters. 2. Razors. Razors can cost as little as ten cents each, but if people share them, then can transmit serious and costly diseases such as hepatitis and even aids which costs you in you medical bills and health care insurance and even increases the cost of things that you buy. 3. Tooth-brushes, tooth-paste, and dental floss. If people could get these items on the necessity stamps, it would save your tax money from going to Medicaid paying for dentistry. 4. Currently, you can buy diet-soda with food stamps. We need reform. Do you agree with these ideas? I'd like to make a motion to debate.Yes, I agree that toilet paper is a necessity. As are various kinds of items for hygiene kits such as hand soap, dish soap, and all kinds of hygiene kits that can prevent sickness from spreading through a family. Also, we send school supplies to third-world countries as necessities. Our poor here in the USA also need pencils, paper etc. moreResolved Question: Can tobacco stains be removed from....?

Went to work for temp agency today and they were really rude. I understand that temps are shuffled in and out the door but why the rudeness. Today I was on time but was not allowed to bring my purse to a training class, by the time I put the purse up and got back to the room I was considered late. The employee told me I wasn't paying attention in class when I told her we were not informed not to bring our items, then I was told that "I must not want to be there today" and also the reason I was late, she said I was smoking. Yes I do smoke but not when I'm going to be late. I made an extra effort to make it to this class on time. Made arrangements to share a car, wake my child at 5 am and get him a babysitter. I was late getting back cause I was new and couldn't find my way around the maze of a warehouse that we would work at. rude, rude, rude. Maybe I shouldn't have, but I quit.
