Voting Question: Trying to Conceive Number 1!!!!?

Last 4 periods: November 17-21 December 6 - 10 January 12-19. (For some reason this one was weird. Normally my periods are 5 days, but this lasted 8 days and was almost all brown discharge) February 21-? (I just started today, and its very heavy) I was "diagnosed" with pcos at a clinic about a year ago. I went in to see why I still wasnt getting my period on Femcon. Come to find out, the Dr. said there wasnt enough estrogen in the pill, so she put me on Provera for 10 days and then had me start Desogen. She also ran a few blood tests. The only symptoms I have of possibly having pcos is slightly slightly bad skin and that I wasnt getting my period for months at a time, but I think that was because I was SO stressed out before. I have been off the pill since July, and Ive been getting a period every month. I do not drink, I smoke lightly, (I know, I am trying desperatly to quit). Ive bought a bbt thermometer, and opk's. havent really used my bbt, and I think I was using my opks wrong. I would test in the morning with first urine, which i know wasnt recommended, but I work different times every day, so its hard for me to take them at the same time without drinking fluids because I tend to dehydrate very fast. Ive been taking vitamin c, b12, b6 and folic acid. My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 1/2 years, we have our own home, and we have been seriously persuing this since december. Is there anything anyone can tell me or help me with? I basically am searching for anything that can help me. My insurance will not cover any kind of reproductive health issues. They will not help me so I am going to do this myself. I'm sorry if this post seems a little thrown together I just do not know what to do anymore, and I feel like my head is about to fall off. Please help! Also, has anyone tried using those new home fertility tests? Will it work if I have pcos?? more

Resolved Question: We've been trying for 1 & a 1/2 years to concieve, Can someone who has been through this give sincere advice?

I've been married 3 years and the first year, we never bothered to give pregnancy any thought. We thought we weren't ready for it. We only started trying since 1 and a half years and have had no luck. Last year, I went to see a gyneacologist and got some tests done and everything seemed normal on my end shown on blood tests and ultrasound results. Although, I feel there could be something wrong as it's difficult to track my ovulation due to irregular periods. My cycle varies from 28 to 36 days, last month I got my period after 41 days. Coming to the main concern, my husband was asked to see a urologist after his sperm test showed low motility and morphology (his tests showed a very high no.of abnormal sperms). The advice he got was to quit smoking and drinking, regularly exercise and reduce stress. He did quit smoking and drinking, joined a tennis club but the stress part remains as he runs his own business and is always very involved. Plus, he's a very sensitive and family oriented guy and anything upsetting his family(his mom and dad), stresses him out. He's cuurently taking Vitamin C and also took multi-vitamins (Centrum) previously. I've bought ovulation tests which seem to be of no use because my periods fall on different dates. I got my last period on the 20th of Jan, 2010. The last of my concern is more emotional, I've find it very hard when people ask me if I'm willing to start a family and this question is commonly asked. I don't know what to tell them. Most of the girls I know who got married after I did, are expecting. Some are expecting their 2nd or 3rd child. My husband and I are willing to get ourselves checked again but seems like we're running out of time. My husband is turning next month 35 and I'll be 28 years old in May. How do I calm myself down and why is it easier to say relax and don't think about it when doing so is so hard? more

Resolved Question: I can't shake this cold... could it be more serious?

So about a month ago, I was stuck to my couch for about 2-3 days with a cough, fever, chills, and congestion. I took some OTC meds and in a few days felt alot better. About a week later, I fell ill again, but this time it was a fever, horrible sore throat (i could barely swallow), and nasal congestion, but no stuffy or runny nose. I went to a clinic ( i dont have health insurance) and they gave me 8 days of amoxicilin. I don't recall her telling me what I had exactly, i was so loopy from lack of sleep, but I finished the course of antibiotics and felt 100% better. Now, it's about 4 days since the last dose of amoxil, and my cough is back and louder than ever. I don't sleep to well at night because my nose is constantly running and my cough wakes me up (and my poor fiance lol). I am a smoker, or was, until i started getting sick. Since the first time i was sick, i've been smoking next to nothing if nothing at all. I looked at it as an opportunity to quit, but it's still hard. I'm also taking a multi-vitamin for women and 500mg of vitamin C every day. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience, if i should go back to the clinic, if it's just this cold winter weather.... i'm desperate! more

Resolved Question: Tips to help detox from Marijuana?

Okay, I officially quit smoking weed, yesterday. Since I'm fed up with it, and want it out of my system as quick as possible, what will help quicken it up? Drink alot of Water? Take some vitamin C (to boost my metabolism) Go run, and sweat? Keep my metabolism going, by eating alot of little meals? more

Resolved Question: What are the chances of THC leaving the body in 8 days when I only smoked once?

Okay. I am about 200 lbs, give or take. I take Vitamin B-Complex every day(Vitamin junkie anyway. Take B, C, D, E every day), drink coffee pretty much 24/7, exercise for an hour each night(night owl), and drink herbal teas at night. That was the first time I had smoked in about a month or so, and I really am not that heavy of a smoker anyway. A couple hits is all it takes for me and I quit for the rest of the day. I drink water about one glass every day. If I were to take a test tomorrow, what would be the outcome, is what I am asking, intelligent people. I know I know, wouldn't be a problem if I did not smoke to begin with, but I'm just asking out of general curiosity. more

Resolved Question: Will I pass my drug test?

Now, before I start, I don't want any answers from anybody telling me not to smoke weed. I have quit, and I have smoked only twice in the last month. Not that I have anything to prove to you. I took a drug test today at the lab for a job. I wasn't all too worried until I started polluting my mind with all the mumbo jumbo that you find all over google. I am not a chronic user. I used to be before July, but since then I have only smoked here and there. The last time I smoked was exactly two weeks ago and and then a few days prior to that. Other than that it has been over a month. I am a female, 5'8'' and about 145 lbs, and I have a pretty fast metabolism. I take green tea extract, vitamin c, and a womens multi vitamin on a daily basis. I don't really work out, and I drink a moderate amount of water. I also drink alcohol 5-6 nights out of the week (just a few beers in a night). When I took this drug test this morning, I have to say that it was pretty concentrated (not a smart move on my part). I know there is no way to know for sure, but I just want some insight. I would not like to spend my whole weekend on the edge worried that I won't pass. Thank you!It was a urine test guys... more

Resolved Question: Do i have cancer/hiv/anxiety/anything? worried sick. help?

Alright, i am a 19 college student. I played sports all my life and quit when i got to college and I am somewhat active still but i eat a lot of bad food. I suffer from anxiety and depression. I drink every weekend, somewhat smoke, dipped for two years but i cut back now, used to smoke marijuana but recently quit (1 month clean), and i do consider myself a hypochondriac. Everything started about 4 months ago, i got really drunk at a graduation party. when i got home i ended up puking around 6 times. A few days later i started experiencing constipation and that persisted for a while. I was having pain in my groin and i thought i might of had a hernia but the doctor said i probably just got food poisoning and that the poisoning probably never fully left my system, and was told to get more fiber and vitamin c. that all seemed to fine for a while but recently came back. Also, two months ago i hooked up with a girl i didnt know. i word a condom but she did perform oral and i also performed oral on her but only for like ten seconds. A little over a month later i got one fever blister on the inside of my lip. i popped it and it seemed to be fine for a day or two then would come back and this repeated for about two weeks. It came back again about a week ago again. I did frequently get canker sores before i hooked up with this girl and i wanna to say i did have fever blister before in the same spot but im not really sure. I was recently diagnosed with having an anxiety disorder. I was in the hospital twice in one week because i thought there was something seriously wrong with my heart. My e.k.g. and blood were perfectly fine, chest xray was fine, and they said my heart and lungs were fine too. I also had a cat scan of my chest with dye injected in me and that was all clear too. Also about two weeks ago i noticed i had only one swollen tonsil but i figured it was just from screaming a lot, it still hasnt gone down. Just a couple days ago i started having this tingling sensation on my tongue only on the side with the swollen tonsil and underneath my tongue theres like these two little stringy things coming off my tongue that feel sour. i dont really have any trouble talking or swallowing but i does feel like theres something caught in my throat. i also sometimes get this achy pain in between my shoulder blades and have this odd rib clicking going on with my bottom right rib where i can push it back and forth and feel it 'click'. My biggest fear is cancer or hiv. i have really bad anxiety and i know all these sympotoms are linked to both and many other diseases. And me being my hypochondriac self sit here and look everything up worrying sick. If any one has any suggestions on anything please help. Thanks. Also, when i was in the hospital they gave me mylanta to get rid of the burning feeling in my chest in case it was acid reflux/heartburn and that worked and i have been taking that now. They said it could be something with my GI tract but didnt perform any tests for that to see. All these symptoms seem to be worse after longs weekends out and evrything as i figured they would be. As i said my biggest fear is cancer or hiv but i thought that my blood and urine tests would show any indication of either, like increase in white blood cells, but all were fine. I would also say i have had an increase in phlegm. I usually do get strep throat about two or three times a year. Ive looked into everything such a oral yeast infection, crohns disease, gallstones, and everything. All my symptoms go back to so many different things and im just freaking out. please help thanks. more

Resolved Question: Should I be having an early u/s this time after m/c?

Ok so I had a m/c in May this year at 6-7 weeks, totally naturally, no d&c but I'm now pregnant again. Everywhere I've read on the net says I should be having an early u/s but I haven't even gone to the doctors yet out of fear. I'm about 6 weeks along now and eating right, quit smoking and I am taking pre natal vitamins but have been putting of the doctor till the 'safe point' if it even exists. Should I go to the doctor now for an early scan or wait? more

Resolved Question: Diet, Exercise and a 23-Year old.?

Here is a little history of the last few years of my life. I met my current almost 3 years ago, in Las Vegas. We were both about 21 years old, and we were wild and young. Drinking, Smoking, partying. However, this all came to an end when she became pregnant, and now we share the joy of a 15mo. baby girl. However, when I first met my girlfriend, I was 6'1", and I weighed about 165lbs. Through the trials I've put my body though, not to mention the sympathy weight through my girlfriends pregnancy, I am now at about 195-205lbs. The good news: - I've quit smoking, and quit drinking. I'm a few months in to each, and it feels phenominal. I'll be honest, you really DO eat more when you quit smoking. Things taste better, and you need to snack to fill that void. haha. The Bad News: - Due to financial problems in Las Vegas, such as my layoff and high price of living,we moved up to Boise, ID, and are currently living with my Sister and her Fiance. Here in lies the problem. I've never had a weight issue before, and was always actually pretty lean. I come from an Italian family of carbs, carbs, carbs. My sister and her Fiance are terribly unhealthy, and I find it very hard to put myself in a position to really take care of myself. I've been taking Fish Oil, Vitamin C, and Multi-vitamins every morning, and I've been trying to take care of myself little by little. Here are my questions: 1) I'm not one who loves all vegetables, but I do enjoy the majority of them RAW. I cannot really stand cooked veggies. Any good websites/recipe books based on raw vegetables? 2) Where should I REALLY start to get back on track with my health? Eating right, jogging, etc.? I know this is more based on doctor reccommendation, but what do you do to keep in shape? Also, please include anything you think of that could help. Remember, I'm a full-time student, full-time employee, and full-time dad. I'd appreciate some responses from those busy parents! more

Resolved Question: Sperm analysis test w/ crappy medical?

We have crappy medical insurance & it doesn't cover issues with infertility. I live in the Cleveland ohio area & my man of 11 years had a test done about 3 years ago at the Cleveland clinic somewhere & it came back with low count. Well since then i had a miscarriage & the last year we really been onto trying again. He quit smoking, drinking, takes fertilaid,& vitamin c, also tries to eat healthy & wears loose boxers. So i was curious to see if his count changed at all. I know you can buy the at home 1's,but not sure how good they are & none of the drug stores carry them anymore. Does any1 know how much it is or where we can go just to have that done?? Thanks more

Every1 can see i been ttc for some time. My man of 11 years that i already have an 11 year old son with has low sperm count. I just posted a question in men's health & some people said no matter what we do it won't help. Does any1 know how true or hard it is to get pregnant with low count. The Dr also gave me a script for clomid cause i have a long cycle. In the mean time my man don't hardly drink, quit smoking marijuana months ago, tries to eat healthy, taking vitamin c supplement,& Fertil aid that is known to increase a low count. he also wears loose boxers. I've done all the research & i use the clear blue easy fertility monitor every month. I'm just very depressed over the situation & don't know if i should just give up on the hope of another baby. He keeps saying to think positive & by august i'll be pregnant. What's august though & he's a man of course he's gonna say that. Sorry so long, but if any1 has had a similar situation please feel free. Thanks again & only serious suggestions/answers please more

Resolved Question: any1 ever used the at home sperm test kits?

My man of 11 years was tested around 3 years ago & has low sperm count. We have an 11 year old but been trying to conceive off & on for the past 2 1/2 years. now on again. He also quit smoking, wears loose boxers, tries to eat healthy, no drinking, & takes alot of vitamin c along with a fertilaid herb. Instead of going back to the DR right now though we wanted to see if we could get some kind of result at home 1st. I eat weel, take C and E supplements alongside Omega 3 and a Multi Vitamin although I get a lot of nutrients from my diet. I am drinking water and walking lots. i know it causes lots of other problems too...of course. im 25 and im quite worried in case i start getting wrinkles..i dont smoke heavily, less that ten a day. but ive been smoking since i was 16, so its been a while. i know the smoke causes a depletion of vitamin c so ive been taking a vitamin c/collagen supplement as well as collagen cream and anti ageing moisturisers on my face.do you think these may help stop me getting wrinkles?and how long does it take for smoking related wrinkles to start to show? i really want to stop but i kinda have no self control i hate it! more

Resolved Question: How many calories should I be consuming?

Hi everyone, I am a 19 year old, overweight male who has just started a new, pretty intense fitness/nutrition plan within the past few weeks. I started out at 5'10, 280, so I have a good 100 pounds to lose at least. I've done the fad diet crap and diet pills, but now I am getting serious and realistic and doing this the healthy way - diet, exercise, and hard work and discipline. I have started walking a few miles a day, and have began swimming 30-50 laps a couple times per week. I plan to also start weight-training and perhaps take a boxing class within the next couple weeks. I have already started to enjoy exercising much more than being a couch potato and am very dedicated to finally losing this weight. I have also started eating much, much better and quit smoking marijuana. No sugar whatsoever, no soda, no white carbs, no (gasp!) fastfood. I am focusing on eating whole grains, fruits, veggies, nuts, lean meats and dairy, and water. I am also taking a daily multi-vitamin, fish oil (omega-3s), and a Vitamin D and C supplement, and drinking whey protein shakes after workouts. My question is - I guess I am a little confused by exactly how much to eat and when, and how often. I am all set with the exercise and diet aspects - just how much, how often mostly is where I am confused. I know for a fit person, 1500-2000 is around normal, but since I am 5'10, 280 and am also burning 500-1000 calories per day through exercise also, I don't think I should be eating that little. Since I am still 100 pounds overweight and used to eating a ton, and am exercising a lot now, around how much should I be eating per day? What is a safe amount of calories to eat per day for healthy weight loss, how often should I eat, and around how many calories should I be consuming at each sitting? If anyone could explain this out to me a little bit better, I would very much appreciate it! Thanks everyone. more

Resolved Question: What can I do to give my immune system a super boost?

I would really like to super boost my immune system. These are the techniques i've employed: I quit smoking a week ago after a 10 year habit (lately it was light, so it wasn't that hard) I started taking the womens multi vitamins from dollar general, is this adequate enough? or should i go with name brand? or should I also take more vitamin c or d or folic acid or fiber along with it as well? These are the things i think i can change: I am going to increase my exercise regime from once a week to hopefully 6 days a week, gradually increasing intensity as to not stress out my body. I am also going to replace my fat-loaded breakfast sandwiches with yogurt ceral bars and a banana. I am going to cut my caffeine intake to only the "small" coffee sizes instead of the "medium" or "large", Do i need to cut out caffeine all together? (i do not drink pop at all) Cut my beers down from way too many, to just a few. Is this enough? Are there any super secrets? What do you suggest?  more

Resolved Question: ttc need advice on prenatal vitamins and stop smoking....?

ok here's the deal.....my husband and i have had unprotected since 2005...sometimes he pulled out sometimes he didn't (can't remember and we weren't ttc then) anyways we got married in 2007 and he's in the military so he's been gone about a years worth of time since 06. we started ttc for a total of about 12 months??? but it was 1 month we tried (then he was gone for 3 mo.) then we tried a straight 7 (then we was gone for 6 mo.) now we've been trying for 3 mo. so it hasn't been a straight year!! anyways.....we both smoke about a pack a day. and we aren't not the healthiest eaters (but we're not overweight either). but yesterday i started taking prenatel vitamins and my husband started taking a "one a day" men's multivitamin. and today we BOTH quit smoking (wish us luck on that) we've been smoking for 4 years. (we're both 21 btw, and healthy as far as i know) i guess what i'm trying to say is do you think maybe we've had trouble conceiving b/c of our poor lifestyle (smoking, not eating right, and not taking vitamins.) we both are so serious about wanting a baby now. do you think starting vitamins and stop smoking now will give us a greater chance of conceiving this month. my period ended yesterday. so it's like a fresh cycle fresh start for the both of us!! also any tips on getting pregnant without seeing a doctor would be great. if anyone has been ttc for over a year. and tried something new and got pregnant...like food, vitamins, anything!!! we've tried the legs up thing after sex!! thanks for any advive. babydust to all ttc! more

Resolved Question: What can I do to help myself get pregnant?

My husband and I have been TTC for over a year now. I finally went to see my ob/gyn (a prior agreement with the hubby) and she has diagnosed me with PCOS and higher then normal testosterone. I am on Metformin 500 mg once a day for those two. I am also taking Chantix to quit smoking (no interaction with Metformin) since i was also diagnosed with dysplasia. Have a Colpscopy (sp?) in August. I am also taking: 1000 mg Flaxseed Oil 1000 mcg Biotin And One-Source Prenatal pill that has 4800 IU of Vitamin A, 120 mg of Vitamin C, 400 IU of Vitamin D, 30 IU Vitamin E, 1.84 mg of Thiamin, 2 mg of riboflavin, 20 mg of niacin, 20 mg of vitamin b6, 800 mcg of folic acid, 12 mcg of vitamin b12, 300 mg of calcium, 28 mg of iron, 150 mcg of iodine, 25 mg of zinc, and 2 mg of copper. I also take an extra 400 mcg of Folic Acid. Everything listed here I take once a day Except Chantix which requires 1mg twice a day. I don't eat alot and find that if I force myself to eat. I end up getting sick and have stomach pains with the feeling that I'm going to explode. What else can I do? I have heard of Primrose but not sure what it is and what it does and if it will react with metformin or chantix... Any help would be appreciated... THanks!Sorry I should have added the I chart my BBT and check my CM. Besides having intercourse and the appropriate time is there anything else I can do.. Thanks Smart a** - you know who i mean. Resolved Question: Smoking while pregnant?

My fiance and I are trying to get pregnant, and I think we're doing it right so I'm probably going to get pregnant real soon (I've been charting my ovulation times and my CM.) That being said, Since were ttc, I've been cutting back on smoking, I'm from 2 packs to .5 pack per day. And taking prenatal vitamins and a few others (vitamin c and biotin.) I know its stressful on the baby to just quit smoking all of a sudden, but assuming that I just got pregnant, like my egg was fertilized 2 days ago, would it be okay to stop smoking since I'm allready smoking so few? Or would that still be stressful? Would it really make a difference though, since I just got pregnant (I'm assuming here)? Thoughts? more

Resolved Question: I smoked for 10 months and just quit a month ago, did I stop any irreparable damage to my skin?

I'm 22 years old and female, I'm drinking 8 glasses of water a day, using vitamin C ointment, under eye cream, taking vitamins (including fish oil), eating fruits and veggies, getting 8 hours of sleep a night, using sunblock, and am getting a chemical peel. I have some fine lines around my mouth and under my eyes, but they are probably genetic because I've been told that smoker's lines don't appear right away. When I was younger I was around some secondhand smoke occasionally. I also smoked on and off when I was 20 for a few months but not for any extended period of time... *wheew* sorry I just wanted to give the fullest extent of information I could so that my answer would be informed.. Thank you! more

Resolved Question: Question about vitamins and herbal supplements?

I am currently on Nicoderm patch step 1 to quit smoking. I've had to cut down on coffee to help with quitting smoking, and also to lessen my generalized anxiety disorder. Because of GAD, I have changed my diet to one higher in magnesium, drink St. John's Wort tea 4 times per day, and take a multivitamin, Vitamin E, and Vitamin C in the mornings. I would also like to take a B-Complex vitamin about mid-day when my multi has probably been metabolized. Does anyone know if this is an overload of supplements or if anything in that list would have bad reactions/side effects? Also, do you think that a whey protein shake would be ok to add to the daily routine? Thanks. more

Resolved Question: someone please please help me...?

1. Jamie has the flu. She is uncomfortable and reaches out for flu medication, which is supposed to make her more comfortable. But her sister who is taking a course in Anatomy and Physiology informs her that having a fever might actually be beneficial. Pick the statement that is incorrect regarding the benefits of fever: (immunity) (a)Fever can retard (slow down) the multiplication of certain pathogens (b)Fever increases the metabolic rate of the body thereby encouraging immune reactions (c)Fever slows down the action of interferons (d)Fever can help promote tissue repair by retarding the physical activities of the host 2. Little Joseph is bitten by a stray dog and he is rushed to the ER. The attending physician gives him an antiserum with anti-rabies antibodies. Joseph is provided with _________ type of immunity: (immunity) (a)naturally acquired active immunity (b)naturally acquired passive immunity (c)artificially acquired active immunity (d)artificially acquired passive immunity 3. Oneka’s village has been struck by famine and like many other children of her village, she too shows signs of starvation (her arms and legs are really frail and her abdomen is swollen). All of the following statements correctly describe the physiological basis of her condition EXCEPT: (blood) (a)Hypoproteinemia has caused water to leave her blood vessels by osmosis (b)Lowered levels of albumin in her plasma have contributed greatly to lower than normal blood osmolarity. (c)Lowered levels of fibrinogen in her plasma have contributed greatly to lower than normal blood osmolarity. (d)Low protein intake has led to reduced synthesis of albumin resulting in lowered blood osmolarity 4. If the oxygen level in the blood is 100 mmHg and the oxygen level in the alveoli is 140 mmHg: (Respiration) (a)oxygen moves by simple diffusion from the alveoli into the blood (b)oxygen moves by simple diffusion from the blood into the alveoli (c)oxygen moves by active transport from the alveoli into the blood (d)oxygen moves by active transport from the blood into the alveoli 5. A recent news item reported a nurse who was suspected of killing his patients using an overdose of vecuronium, which is a skeletal muscle relaxant normally used in limited quantities during surgery. The victims stopped breathing and died quietly in their sleep because vecuronium causes: (Respiration) (a)massive vasodilation, leading to circulatory shock (b)relaxation of the heart muscle, leading to death (c)relaxation of the diaphragm, which makes inhalation impossible (d)constriction of the bronchioles thereby cutting off air supply to the lungs 6. Susan is an obese patient who has recently had a partial gastrectomy. She must be given Vitamin B12 injections in order to prevent pernicious anemia because: (Digestive system) 1.vitamin B12 is necessary for the formation of hemoglobin 2.intrinsic factor produced by the stomach is necessary for the absorption of Vitamin B12 3.an oral administration of Vitamin B12 might be ineffective in this case 4.The stomach is stimulated to produce above normal levels of intrinsic factor 7. Mr. Ray has been diagnosed with atherosclerosis (the formation of plaque and subsequent hardening of the arteries) of the carotid artery. His cardiologist suggests stenting of the carotid artery. Jacqui finally quit smoking, but the damage done over the years has resulted in her having to go to the hospital for sever pneumonia on a recurring basis. The pneumonia is bad enough because it makes it harder to breathe, but sometimes it gets so bad that it actually causes her blood pH to shift. Then she has: (Acid base balance) (a)metabolic alkalosis (b)metabolic acidosis (c)respiratory acidosis (d)respiratory alkalosis 9. Michael has severe pernicious anemia. He frequently resists taking his vitamin B12 shots and ends up in the hospital complaining of shortness of breath. In order to compensate for the lack of RBCs (and therefore O2 carrying capacity) he ends up breathing more deeply and rapidly. Unfortunately, this sometimes leads to a change in his plasma pH. If so, he has: (Acid base balance) (a)metabolic alkalosis (b)respiratory acidosis (c)metabolic acidosis (d)respiratory alkalosis 10. Baby Carrie is born with an opening called Foramen ovale in the septum or wall between the ventricles. Which of the following is a likely consequence? (Heart) (a)pumping of blood through the body will be more efficient because pressure from both ventricles will be added together (b)deoxygenated blood will be sent to the body (c)hemorrhage due to loss of blood from the hole in the heart (d)this is normal, there would be no significant consequence more

Resolved Question: Unstop my stuffy nose!?

I went out for my bachelorette party, had a lot of drinks and walked through Bourbon Street in New Orleans for a good bit of night, smoked some cigarettes even though I quit months ago. Came back home and within hours I had a stopped up nose. I'm not really sick, but I have had a stopped up nose for 4 days with no sign of it getting better. Any good home remedies or advice that REALLY work? I am taking over the counter sinus meds and vitamin c already. I do understand that the drinks, night air & cigarettes are most likely the cause, and I know I will need to go to the doctor if I start to feel bad or if this goes on longer than a week or so without any sign of getting better, so please don't suggest a doctor! more

Resolved Question: What products do you use to detox your system/build your immune system??

Resolved Question: I need to quit smoking? Who has the best way to quit out there?

I have smoked for 16 years and seriously tried to quit 2 times. Once I quit for 29 days cold turkey then like a dummy started back up. Then just last year I did the vitamin C and cinnamon mouthwash thing and quit for like 2 or 3 days. I blame stress (I know big cop out) for my inability to quit. And I've done it so long I guess it is just a comfortable habit for me. I hate being a smoker and know if I don't quit, I'll never be as healthy as I want to be. So are there any successful quitters out there who would like to share their secrets? I would much appreciate any help I can get.Thank you so much for all the encouraging words. There are many great answers and I cannot just pick one. I have discussed with my doctor about quitting and his bottom line was "when you decide to quit, you will quit." I know that is the answer all along, but getting my mind set on that is the problem. Like I said, I really enjoy smoking but I really don't want to do it anymore for obvious reasons. What i am looking for is other people in my situation who successfully quit and how they did it. Which I see there are many different methods. I will not use medication or nicotine replacement so I guess I'll try to wean myself off and just be strong and set my mind. Once again, everybody thank you! more

Resolved Question: chronic cough?

I quit smoking a year and half ago. I'm 29. I started smoking when I was around 20. Ya, late in life. anyways..Just recently for the past month or so, i've developed this constant dry cough. It seems like it comes from my throat. I cant really describe the feeling. Like it itches or something. So I cough. I take allergy medicine constantly, like benedryl and sudafed. I also take Vitamin C daily. Sometimes I will wake up with a coughing 'fit'. Most nights I do wake up coughing, some worse than others. At times I can breathe just fine while working out. other times I spend 5 mins on the treadmill and I just cant go anymore, while others I go for 20 mins with no problem and barely breathing hard. Sometimes I get a tightness in my chest. and I keeps me from taking in deep breaths. Its like my lungs will only fill so far, and its just not enough! What is wrong with me? is this asthma? Or could it just be allergies? thanks more

Resolved Question: Vitamins...Supplements....Bloating...Gas....Diet?

OK. This is going to be kind of long. I am a 25 year old male who has recently quit smoking, started taking vitamins and supplements, am watching my diet, and work out almost every day. I am having a problem with bloating and gas. It seems no matter what I eat I feel bloated and have horrible smelling gas in the evenings. This only happens in the evenings all the way till bed time. Here is a list of vitamins and supplements I take followed by an example of my diet.... Vitamin D = 400iu Vitamin A = 8000iu B-12 = 500mcg Selenium = 100mcg Vitamin E = 200iu Biotin = 500mcg Super B Complex Vitamin C = 500mg (stopped this to see if it would help) Calcium = 300mg (stopped this to see if it would help) Breakfast (5:30a) = All-Bran Cereal with 2% Milk Snack (9:00a) = Orange Lunch (11:00a) = Tuna Sandwich with 100% Whole Wheat bread and a cup of peaches. Dinner (5:00p) = Plain Chicken Breast with French Style Green Beans Thanks for all the help. I am tired of this. more

Resolved Question: I've heard that taking vitamin C pills can help with quitting smoking. Is this true? Do I take them while I'm

Resolved Question: I'm really trying to quit smoking here. I think quitting cold turkey is the best but I don't know...?

I smoke a half pack of Newports 100's a day and when I smoked less I could quit cold turkey for a week and the want for cigarettes would lessen dramatically. I've heard that taking like 500-1000 mg of Vitamin C daily helps get the nicotine out of your system a lot quicker, but I'm not so sure it works. Nearly every single one of my friends smoke so it's hard to see them on the weekends and not get the urge to ask for one, especially if I've had a few beers. I don't think going on the patch is a good idea cuz I have an anxiety disorder (one of the reasons I don't drink coffee anymore) and having a patch that puts nicotine, another stimulant, into your blood 24 hours a day doesn't sound like a good idea. One of my friends succeeded w/ the patch and chews gum all the time, a safe habit to take up. What should I do? more
