I was listening on the radio to Monday Night Football and Broncos vs. Bolts. The radio station was local to San Diego and the broadcasters were obvious homers. It was the same station in my area that Dan Patrick and Jim Rome broadcast on. Then one of the guys -- Hank Bauer -- starts talking about the injuries in the Bronco secondary and the opportunity for Philip Rivers. Then he says "hopefully some more of their guys pop an achillees!" I think it''s terrible he said that and I want to report him to whoever monitors this stuff. What's the local radio station? Resolved Question: Why do so many of the newer Country music singers sound so much alike?

I have wondered for awhile why so many of the newer country music artists all have the same Nashville nasal twang? Country music used to not all sound so twangy back in the days of Buck Owen, Charlie Pride, etc. And interestingly enough, when these singers talk, they don't have that twangy, nasal "I just wanta get you-u-u out of your dress-s-s-s-s and get you home-e-e-e", but they talk in normal voices, but when they sing, it's all nasal and all twangy. Not all country singers sound like this, for example, Charlie Daniels, and Billy Ray Cyrus sound more like regular people singing. But a friend of mine LOVES modern day country music and nearly every singer sounds alike. Am I missing something? Are modern day country music singers all supposed to follow the same twangy, honky tonk formula? Also, the lady in the office next to me plays country music non-stop, and all of it is new modern day twangy, nasal country music. I guess this is popular as my hometown has about 1/2 dozen modern day country music radio stations. But does anyone else ever wonder how this music is popular? I used to appreciate country music in the days of Buck Owens, John Denver and Johnny Cash, but this newer stuff is kind of hard to listen to. What do other people think? more

On Thursday, Lincoln stopped breathing for about 2 minutes. The doctors and nurses have no idea why it happened and because of that have been running different tests. They are checking his brain, heart and lungs to make sure there isn't something that they missed. They are also changing some minor things like his feeds and IVs to see if that might make him more comfortable. However, there haven't been any problems since the event on Thursday. We will be getting some results hopefully today and will get some insight as to what is going on if anything. Pray that there is nothing further going on with Lincoln and that he will continue to thrive and progress. Lincoln is weighing in at 4 lbs. 7 1/2 ounces as of this morning! Last thursday they weighed him and he was 4 lbs. 6 1/2 ounces and since then has gained 1 ounce. God is so good all the time! For Lincoln to be able to gain weight like this with only a little bit of intestine to work with is truly a work of Gods awesome power. Lincoln has also moved from a isolete into a big boy crib! He no longer has heat on him which means he is able to control his own body temperature better, which is one thing he needs to do before he comes home. His eyes are still getting checked but the doctor thinks he might only need to do something with the right eye and that the left eye looks really good! All that Steph and I can do is praise God for the amazing things He is doing in Lincolns life. God is in control and has been the whole time! Voting Question: Do you know what song this is?

Ok, this is a hard one, and I am SO SO SO sorry I don't have more info. But I love this song, and if from the few things I know you an help name it, kudos to you! I think it is an older song, but not sure how old. They still play it on the radio randomly (I live in Denver Colorado and the major stations like 105.9 will play it). I THINK it is some kind of love song. And there is a really cheesy synth line that plays several times throughout the song (the synth line starts with a low part and then goes in to a high part, then the singing starts again). The synth line reminds me of some cheesy 80s soap opera or some old anime, but I love it, lol. So, sorry that is all I know about it. If you could just name songs that fit that description. Thanks Stagelady for the help with the stations! from 1/20:Lincoln had another calm night. His platelet count continues to get better and better! His blood gases haven't been that great, so they are going to start him on breathing treatments (think inhaler) to see if that works instead of raising the vent settings. So he will get one of those every 6hrs for the next 24hrs to see if it helps. Thank you all so much for your continued prayers and notes of encouragement! When I visited him today he opened up his little eyes and just stared at his Grandma Joyce and I for almost a half hour! It was definitely amazing! Welcome new folks!! The swelling on his eyes has gone down a little, so he's starting to open them a lot again. Yeah!! Prayers still being said for Marian, Rockn Brad that he is at home, Pete that all goes well Friday with his surgery, and of course our Lincoln! as of yesterdays post from his folks: Lincoln is still doing well, but is still very swollen. We found out last night that he is now 13 inches long, 1 ¼ inches longer than he was at birth. It is awesome to know that despite everything that is going on Lincoln is still growing little by little. The doctors have weaned down the dopamine (his blood pressure medicine) and his ventilator settings. Praise God for all the amazing things that He is doing in Lincoln’s life. Last night I came across a scripture from Isaiah 25:1 that said “O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago.” I happened to stumble across it before I went to bed and it was a huge reminder that God is with Lincoln and has huge plans for his life. Ultrasound showed that there is blood flow to his kidneys, and they are functioning. The problem is low blood pressure. His blood is not caring the meds to his kidneys. His blood vessels are so small, that the meds are being pushed from his vessels and absorbed into his tissue, resulting in major bloating. Please pray that he will be able to maintain a good, higher blood pressure, so his tiny body will be able to perform as it should! Thank you for all of your encouraging comments! Lets pray that when we go in throughout the night and in the morning that his tummy will have continued to shrink, and he will have peed out a lot more! Hope all that are in the ice storm area drive safely and that they are wrong about it. You guys that just had it, made it sound not fun! I like electricity and heat! Hope all are still getting better. Our favorite little miracle is doing good. from his parents comments! Another boring day. Tonight they will be putting in a new pick-line. They have one in his arm right now, but they aren't pleased with its placement, so they are going to put in a new one. Last time it took them two tries with the first try taking over an hour with no success. So please pray that they get it in quickly. Also, the nurses are still having a little bit of trouble with the placement of his ventilator tube. He is quite the little wiggler and I think it might have something to do with that. The vent tube has a curve on the end of it so I guess if that is against the wall of his lung it, it doesn't have good reads. In order for him to come off of the big ventilator, he needs to have a bunch of good reads in a row. So please pray that the tube stays turned the right way, or the he quits wiggling so much! But Lincoln is so cute when he wiggles! Hopefully tomorrow will be another boring day! Stay safe in all the snow! We are lucky we have no where to go! Have a wonderful day all! more
