The wind whipped my dark red hair wildly around my face as I stuck my head out the window of my best friend Demi’s red coupe. She laughed as I started to sing at the top of my lungs. I knew I shouldn’t sneak out of the house the night before I left for Silvinton Academy, but I would never get a chance like this again. Excitement pulsed all around us as Demi laughed at my drunk self and I started to dance to the rap song on the radio. I don’t even like rap, but for some reason intoxicated Marilyn liked rap at the moment. I was drunk already before going out because Demi was late and I got so anxious that I completely drained a bottle of my Mom’s pinot grigio locked in the front of the liquor cabinet. Demi was being her usual unreliable self and forgot to fill her car up with gas. I have always been impatient and I was already sitting on my roof in my lucky Harley Davidson sweatshirt so I figured I had time to drink. When Demi finally pulled up I was more than just a little buzzed. I’d have to remember how she laughed at me and scold her later. The main reason I had snuck out with Demi was to head over to my boyfriend’s house for a “Goodbye Marilyn” party. Basically it was just Demi, Blake, Gage, and I. Demi and Blake had been dating for only a couple months after Gage set them up, but they were practically made for each other. She was unreliable and generally stupid, while Blake was her other half. He was smart and always there when needed. She always told me about how much she loved his short blonde hair and shining blue eyes, and that she could never survive without him. The one year mark between Gage and I was a week or so ago and I was hoping it would last longer than that. He was everything I ever wanted in a boyfriend. His welcoming smile and his green eyes always warmed my heart in the worst of moods. His skin was perfectly pale and had a few adorable freckles on his nose that wrinkled when he smiled. His dark hair swept to his eyebrows and I always held onto it when I looked into his eyes and felt myself smiling back. He makes me feel happiness no other guy has ever made me feel in a relationship. He would never hurt me in a million years, that I know. When Demi and I had reached Gage’s house we were surprised to hear the familiar sound of sirens and see flashes of blue and red adorn Gage’s house. There were two people that I recognized as Gage and Blake out on the front stoop of Gage’s house. Gage was hovering over Blake and he looked unconscious. I recognized a look of horror plastered on Gage’s face. The last time I saw that facial expression was a few months back when his grandmother was having a heart attack and I drove down to his house to help him. Worry filled my entire body and my adrenaline practically pulsed as I jumped feet first out of the window of the coupe. Demi ran after me and I ran up to Gage and knelt beside him, holding his face in my hands before I said quickly, “ Gage, what’s wrong?” He looked solemnly into my eyes and said, “It’s Blake. He’d dead.” Gage looked down at the ground and forced back tears as Demi covered her mouth to hold back a scream and despair filled her eyes. She crumpled to the ground and burst into tears. Her sob and the sound of the police sirens were the only noise to fill the air. Gage looked back at me and I said, “What happened to him?” more

Resolved Question: Harley Davidson 'Rider's Edge' New Rider Courses?

For years I've dreamt of riding Route 66 with my dad on a couple of Harley FatBoys. We're both inexperienced motorcyclists but looking to get our licenses, fly on over and start the journey. Early last year I failed to pass my CBT with a small learner company but despite the setback I didn't enjoy the experience much. The supplied protective gear, process and training bikes were all a little old and worn-out. I'm not gonna blame my fail on the company but after looking at the Harley Davidson 'Rider's Edge' New Rider Course that looks so much more enticing! You get taught on an actual Harley (which is ideal since that's what I want to ride), they give you real sturdy protectives, it's all radio-contact and it's over 6 days including CBT and Direct Access. I know it sounds like I've already made my mind up but I'm curious to know if anybody's done it? Is it a great as it sounds? And is it really worth the £1400? more

I was riding my HD Sportster this weekend and pulled up next to a guy that was as enthusiastic about his Harley as I am. I mean, this guy had Harley everything. He had the matching jacket, chaps, bandanna, glasses, etc... He looked totally awesome and like Harley riders should look like. He was about 45-50 years old and he was riding with his wife. I really admired both of them and how into Harley they are. They both had those totally cool microphones on their helmets that you can talk to one another to discuss safety issues, road conditions, which cappuccino bar you should stop at, you get the picture. Anyway, I pulled up next to them and they were blasting the new Brittney Spears album over their speakers! I couldn’t believe it! I gave him a hard time before the light changed and he said it was on the radio and not a CD. Does anyone know if there are any HD approved radio stations that HD riders should be listening to? I don’t think Brittney really represents the HD lifestyle. Something a little more hardcore would be better like the Dave Matthews Band or Coldplay really fits what motorcycles are all about. What do you think? more

I started to listen to a song on the radio (classic rock genre) and a song came on. For various reasons, I couldn't listen to the song. But it started with only a drummer drumming what sounded to be a hot rod or a Harley engine. (you know, the real deep "potato potato potato" exhaust). Rodrigo Delacruz-Encarnacion, 25, is jailed on a $100,000 bond following his arraignment in Holland District Court on the felony, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Police say Delacruz-Encarnacion is responsible for killing William O’Brien, 52, of Holland in an 8 p.m. Wednesday crash. O’Brien was driving his 1996 Harley-Davidson south on Butternut Drive when the suspect’s minivan turned into the path of his motorcycle. O’Brien could not avoid the crash, and struck the passenger side of the van. He died at the scene. His family declined to comment on the accident. Ottawa County sheriff’s Lt. Steve Kempker said witnesses had to detain Delacruz-Encarnacion at the scene of the crash until police arrived. He was arrested and taken to the Ottawa County Jail. The suspect has been in the country illegally since the spring and has been working odd jobs and living in migrant camps, police said. He allegedly had fraudulent identification when he was arrested. Authorities believe Delacruz-Encarnacion is a risk for fleeing the area since he has no ties to Holland. Just last March, San Francisco police arrested Ramos on a gun charge and already had two other felony convictions before that. However, due to San Francisco’s “sanctuary city” policy, the city officials did not alert Homeland Security about Ramos. According to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, “We are standing up to say to all of our residents, we don’t care what your status is in terms of legal certification.” Since the shooting, Newsom has rescinded part of the sanctuary policy, but it is far too late for the Bologna family. Deptford woman killed, illegal driver held on DWI, death by auto charges by South Jersey News Online Friday July 25, 2008, 11:11 AM FRANKLIN TWP. -- A 51-year-old Deptford Township woman died Thursday from injuries she received when her car was hit by an illegal immigrant who was driving drunk and with no license, police said. The crash occurred at about 5:35 p.m. Mijail L. Hernandes, 24, of Lake Worth, Fla., was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban west on Route 40 and allegedly failed to stop at a red lght, police said. The Suburban hit a 2008 Hyundai Tucson driven by Yvonne M. Pennewell, which was traveling south on Main Road, Route 555, said police. The Hyundai was forced off the Hyundai. Pennewell and her passenger, Crystal D. Ashmore, 25, of Vineland, had to be freed from the car by rescue crews. Both women were airlifted to Cooper Medical Center in Camden. Pennewell died at Cooper. Ashmore was listed as being in serious condition, said police. Hernandes was taken to South Jersey Regional Health Center in Vineland, treated for minor ijuries and released. Hernandes was charged with death by auto, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, unlicensed driver resulting in death, unlicensed driver resulting in serious bodily injury, driving while intoxicated, failure to obey a traffic device, reckless driving, unlicensed driver and failure to wear a seat belt. Hernandes was committed to the Gloucester County Jail in Woodbury in default of $250,000 full cash bail. Richmond police allege that Garcia-Hernandez was driving the truck when it ran off Snead Road and hit a parked car that spun around and fatally injured two people standing next to it, Jones, 44, and Joseph Owens, 40, of Alberta in Brunswick County. Jones, a native of South Hill and the mother of two children, lived in the neighborhood were the crash occurred and was attending a house-warming party when she was struck, said Charles H. Cuthbert Jr., her attorney. She had been employed several years as a security guard for Wackenhut Corp., he said. After the crash, police said Garcia-Hernandez, 28, tried to flee the scene on foot, but witnesses detained him until officers arrived. He was indicted June 9 on two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run driving. According to the lawsuit, Garcia-Hernandez had a blood-alcohol level of 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08. His employer, Ronald Biringer, was indicted March 19 by a federal grand jury in Richmond on a single count of transporting illegal immigrants to Fort Lee.
