Open Question: My subwoofer keeps cutting in and out at pretty much any volume.?

I have a Kenwood 350 Watt Power Amp, Model Number KAC-629S hooked up to 1 Xplod subwoofer (700 watts). I've checked the ground wire for the power supply, positive lead, the remote wire, even all the fuses and they all seem to be intact. My amp's protective red light was on last night when I had the output volume maxed out on amp, But its not on today, since I turned the volume way down on the amp. The amp is connected to the car's back stereos through an RCA adapter with a ground lead connected to the amp. I've noticed that my amp would always cut in and out if I had the volume up too loud and listened to it for a long time. But lately it would keep cutting out sooner and sooner, until now it only cuts in briefly when I first get in the car and turn the radio on. After it cuts out, it might randomly cut back in for a brief few seconds before cutting out again....this happens over and over. I've also noticed that the subwoofers are being sucked in and out even when no loud sound is coming out of them. Another thing I've notice is when I turn off the radio or ignition, before opening my doors, I can hear the subwoofer, making a low pump noise in a slow Rhythmic beat, this stops of course when I open the door. My car is a North American 2009 Honda Civic coupe if that makes any difference. Please help!IT cuts out at any volume Robster the mobster. Your power amp is suppose to have less watts than your Subwoofer, otherwise it will overheat and burn up. more

Resolved Question: Question about wiring in a car equalizer/amp?

Ok I have an in-dash pyramid 705 cd eq/amp, and a kenwood kdc-mp 242 headunit that i'm putting into a 2002 dodge dakota. I know that by using a wiring adaptor for my factory stereo harness, I have to splice the speaker wires into the e/q, and connect the radio to the e/q with rca cables. My problem is that I have a ground and a battery wire for the headunit and a ground and battery wire for the e/q. Now can I splice both grounds into the ground wire in the adapter harness, and both battery wires into the battery wire in the adapter harness? Or would I have to, for example, use the adapter harness to hook up the stereo, and run the battery wire for the e/q seperatly to the fuse box, and ground the e/q seperatly to the chassis with a bolt and terminal lug? It would be easier just to wire everything into the wiring harness, but I don't know if sharing those connections would cause any problems? I hope I gave enough details for this to make sense. One last thing that concerns me is the rca cables. On my headunit there are two sets of connections, 1 for the front, and 1 for the rear. Which set should I connect the e/q to, or does it even matter? more

OK i have been though too amps a Sony xplod "600" watt 4/3 channel same problem it cut out at high volume so i bought the pioneer but its worse cuts out at mid volume when wires are bridged (420 watts) but on its on channel (135 watts) it cuts out at high volume. im just trying to power one 12 in. sub with a power peek of 1200 watts an rated power of 350. also bought a kenwood radio 50x4 watts...im using a regular speaker wire for the ground wire straight from the jumper hook ups on the battery umm... i cant think of anything else if you need anymore info plz ask thank you more

i just bought a 2001 F150, LOVE IT. it came with a SICK stereo, a Kenwood Excelon, which i guess is supposed to be kenwoods high end, (keep in mind im coming from a jensen single din radio from target for 60 bucks) though i cant figure some stuff out with it. im reading the instruction manual, and i cant understand how to turn off the internal amp, which is reccomended since the truck has 2 amps and a sub, i guess one amp controlling the tweeters and the other controlling the sub. most i could figure out is how to turn off demo mode and turn on the subwoofer. also, the unit seems to have come with an iPod interface cable, which hooks up to my iPhone 3G; however; when i plug it in, the phone says that the device was not specifically made for iPhone, yada yada, and i turned on the AUX setting, and im getting no audio. is this stereo not compatible with iPhone? by the way the stereo is an excelon dpx 701. thanks guys! the instruction manual i downloaded read like typical stereo instructions and wasnt comprehendable. more

ok i have a x.m radio it is old delphi silver radio.....xm skyfi. i got a car kit for christmas like a year or so ago and just never had time to ook ti up well i am trying to put it in a pontiac grandam 2001 we had to repalce the radio from stock to a kenwood it has a c/d player now the car kit i have the power cord plugs into the cig lighter outlet socket and then the antennea i have them 2 cords plugged in andi have power and signal ......... now the hard part to me comes up how to get the sound into the speakers in the car..... it came with like a tape you stick into the tape player and then it will work but in the caar that i am going to be driving dosent have a tape player how would/ could i hook that up where i can have musics the outlet that it is on the (car cradle) is called the LINE OUT plug in so what so i need and how do i hook it up ......... and if you could ow much would the things i need to get cost more

Voting Question: Why does my subwoofer/amp only work when the radio is on?

So, I have a pair of subs (pyramid) hooked up to some random amp a friend gave me (400 watt), which is all connected to a Kenwood cd deck that has the ipod/auxiliary output. Problem is, ever since hooking up the amp and subs, the amp only turns on, powering the subs, when the radio is on. When trying to play a cd or my ipod directly hooked up, the amp turns off. Any suggestions on what the problem might be and how to fix it?The remote wire is connected to the cd deck and the amplifier, which is why I don't understand why the amp only turns on when the radio is on, not the cd player or auxiliary hookup. more

Resolved Question: 2007 Honda Accord Aftermarket stereo + subs, Questions.?

Okay, so i have a 2007 Honda accord and i recently installed two kicker cvrs and an amp to the stock headunit. However, it doesnt sound as good as i want and i encoutered a problem which brings me to my frist question. 1. Somtimes, when i am ejecting cd's, or turn off the HU, my subs will automatically turn on and just pound without music for a short time. if i touch the volume control at all it will go away. During music it sounds perfectly fine which makes me think that its my stock HU sending a feedback or "unclean" signal to my amp which is causing the subs to come on. Would this be correct? i began to think it was a bad ground, but wouldnt that affect music when im listening to it? Okay. Thats my first question. to solve this, (assuming its the factory HU), im going to purchase a aftermarket kenwood stereo. To those of you who are familiar with the stock headunit in 03+ accords, its a pain to do. you have to buy a metra kit for the intergrated controls which is 100+ dollars. therefore im going to purchase the din kit which goes in the cubby below and run power to that. I was told on a local forum, and by friends to purchase a special wiring harness, that would allow me to run power to the stock HU for the clock, but have all the audio ran to the aftermarket HU in the cubby. does this seem possible? I already talked to best buy, and they said that they would be able to install it. So now i have a few questions for you audio experts 1. Will they take out my Line out convertor when they install the aftermarket HU? 2. Will the feedback or mysterious turn on of my subs be gone with the new HU? 3. If power is ran to the stock HU for my clock, what happens when i try to turn on the radio on the stock HU.? Im just in a bind. Im worried that not running power to my HU for the clock will look horrible, but at the same time, im worried that running power to it would cause my feedback problem to come back. or would that not happen because all the audio is ran to the aftermarket one? sorry, i know its long. i appreciate the help though greatly. more

they are 12 inch, each sub is 1500 watt rms each, but im not sure that my radio can put out enough wattage for a kicker zx2500.1 monoblock amp, but just in case my radio is a kenwood kdc-mp342u, and the 1500 watt amp in the question is also a monoblock, so can this radio put out the wattage to the 2500 watt amp? If not then can it put out the wattage for the 1500 watt amp and will that be good enough? more

I purchased and installed the kenwood KDC-MP242 into my car. Everytime i set the radio stations, the bass level, bass booster,middle level, treble level and turn off the Headunit or car (which turns off the head unit) it resets everything. Resolved Question: how to wire a new stereo in 2001 impala?

okay so I have managed to take the car apart, and remove the old stock stereo, here's the hard part now. I'm trying to connect the wires to the new wire harness, but I cant figure out the last couple of wires and what they go to, like the color codes or audio wiring diagram. The new wire harness for the Kenwood stereo I got has 13 or 14 wires, including the ground, but my Impala has, I believe, 16 or 17, plus another whole smaller factory wire harness, that I dont know what I do with. I have all the speakers hooked up and wired right, but as for the rest no clue, pink, purple, white-ish, two oranges, and maybe one or two more. Also my antenna has a very odd plug that also doesn't fit the kenwood stereo. I know the radio is compatiable with my car, i made sure before i purchased it. And no I'm not just being cheap and not taking it to a shop, I actually want to learn all of this. I may be a girl but I enjoy cars and am slowly trying to learn all I can about them. Any help would really be appreciated.Yeah I did look into the computer settings with the radio, some of them will be acessible thru the new stereo, but i think only the oil change, and tire inflation, but thats alright with me. I just want a nice system as for now. more

I’ve been with my car for about 1+ year and a few months and since I bought it I have been taking it to the dealership multiple times (more than 4) for same reason. Airbag light on Sun roof broken Fixtures such as door handles, paint coming off Headlights (remaining on when locking with remote causing battery drainage) Battery (replaced twice due to headlight issue) Radio (replaced 2 times twice by dealership 1 by me) TMPS Tire lights on Contacted folks at Lemon Law and claim had to be opened within 1st year of purchase. Per them a settlement with dealership could be possible. I was instructed to take the vehicle again (4th time) and have them repair it. Provided Purchase order per their request among other financial documents When I picked up the car, sun roof portion came off there was a part that covers the rail which was missing. They left the roof on the interior all black (dirty) spoke with service manager and showed him the sunroof. This is what he said “Jacob, that is the quality of the sunroof these were made cheap” I asked him what could be done, he couldn’t respond. So I get home and lock my car, turn around and sure enough the headlights where on. Meaning the car was not fixed period and this totals to 4 times. LOL Air bag couldn’t be fixed as light wasn’t on (security) I’ve got pictures where air bag lights up, I kept these as I knew these would come in handy as every time I would take the car they couldn’t find anything because the light was not on at the moment. Radio I really couldn’t believe that these people have to call a Tech line in order to fix electrical issues AND THIS IS A DEALERSHIP When I explained the situation (prior replacement of radio) I told them I had taken it somewhere else and was told the radio was heating up as it was missing an amplifier (I bought the car with a Kenwood stereo factory installed 6 speakers) they still replaced the radio 2 times!!!!!! Among allot of ugly details, all my time spent, my friends time lost (as I needed rides) hours lost at work things of that nature. My question should I stick with Lemon Law claim? Or should I go with someone else? If I go with someone else what could this be? A lawyer? I have full details back up, reports from actual dealership with dates and details about every single repair done. Air bag pictures, the dirty roof deal everything. All I wanted is my car to be fixed because I love my car yet I don’t think I want it anymore as warranty will expire soon and I will be left with a lemon car…. What do you suggest? I just bought a new cd deck for my car and it has a lot of options and functions however, i am starting to feel a little sorry that I bought this because its lack of buttons making it not so user friendly. I bought a kenwood kdcmp442u. However, I noticed that a lot of the hihgher end models of kenwood and pioneer also lack alot of "pre set" buttons that I am used to using on my old radio. Therefore, I was just wondering, are pre set buttons old school? I started to feel better about my purchase when I saw that even Pioneer high end models were also lacking the pre set buttons. Resolved Question: Why Won't My stereo work- cutting out?

I have just recently bought a new car, 2000 Mitsubishi Lancer. I have taken the old stereo out as it needed a code and i wanted a new stereo. I bought a new Kenwood stereo to put in it's place. My boyfriend and his friend installed the stereo. Once it was installed the stereo was playing up. It was cutting out when i accelerate or the car struggled in a gear. It sounded like a very scratch CD, but it was doing it with radio, CDs and the IPOD. After awhile the stereo will just cut out. It sounds like it being interfered by something else. I thought the stereo may have been faulty, so i took it back and got a complete refund and bought the same stereo at another store. But the problem is still there. I took my car to two different auto electricians. They both said that the wiring was fine and they couldn't see why the stereo would have this problem. I spoke to a Stereo technician, he suggested it may be the spark plugs. My mechanic has changed them and the problem is still there. Would i need an Amplifier??? Can anyone give me some advise or has anyone had the same problem??? more

please help i want to connect my mp3 player but i cannot find it at all, i can see cd player and radio and usb but thats it...why not aux?? i have connected the wire at the back but god knows also i got it yesterday but last night when i had my fun with it and took the face off...i noticed that the eject button was still on...well it was flashing a red light...is that normal??? more
