Open Question: kenwood touch screen radio and navigation system and I am trying to make a dvd r with music videos?

I just bought a kenwood touch screen with navigation and I need to know how to make music videos work. I downloaded some music videos and then put them on windows media player to burn them onto a dvd r disc and had it on data cd and I took it to the truck and it said disc error.what am I doing wrong? is there another way to do this? Resolved Question: Looking for an HD radio for my car - I'm picky!?

My Pioneer 8200 radio died after 8 years. It was awesome. Now I have to find a new radio. I've been researching for a while and I can't find a radio I like. I do lots of driving, so I feel justified in being picky about my radio. The features I'm looking for include: 1. HD w/ multicast support 2. Aux/line in 3. a good screen (rules out most JVC, Kenwood, Dual, and the cheap crap), but no goofy flip up 40" plasma screens coming out of my dash 4. Push button presets - I'm not particularly fond of the goofy 1-Button-Does-Everything controls. 5. RDS - I LOVE the radio text that comes up with the artist name and song name. My Pioneer 8200 had this, and after 8 years I got really used to it. This is the deal breaker for me. If the radio can't display the artist and the song name, I don't want it. If an add on HD radio option enables artist & track names to appear, then i can do without RDS. 6. BlueTooth - but not critical. So there you go, I'm picky. I have Pioneer 980bt, but it doesn't do RDS or HD, so I'm looking to get rid of it. I was looking at the Eclipse CD3200, but I read it doesn't do artist & song names. Any help would be appreciated, thank you! more

Resolved Question: Amp keeps turning off could it be the alternator?

so i have 2 12 inch kicker l7s hooked up, its just a 1000 watt kenwood powering them for now till i get the cash to get a new amp, but when i turn up my radio when it really starts gettin loud and starts to hit bass the amp turns off. not in power protect mode it just totally turns off then it will come on a little later or if i turn the radio down. i am thinking maybe i need to get a high power alternator or what? i dont know how to fix this and i dont want to damage anything. i thought maybe it was the ground wire. but everything is 100 percent correctly hooked up with all the wires and ground and all, what else could it be? how much money would a alternator cost that is going to be able to do the job I want? and i also seen something about a big 3 upgrade? not really sure what that is but i heard of it. if you could tell me what could be a solution to my problem and approx. how much it could cost. thank you for your time and help actually ive got the fuse in the trunk for some reason i hooked it up that way. does it really matter if its in the hood or the trunk the fuse on the power wire? and yes it is running from the battery. the ground is hooked up correctly as is all the wires. i just went threw checking all of that tonight. So i guess I should try a cap first before anything else? how do i even hook one up is it easy? i know what they are ive seen them before. im wondering whats going to happen when i get a better amplifier that is alot more powerful than the one i have now. more

Voting Question: Why does my car stereo turn off at a certain volume?

I have a complete aftermarket stereo system I have installed new front and rear speakers and two subs and at a volume of 18-20 out of 35 and if you turn the bass or treble up it turns off even sooner... The Head Unit is an Alpine CDA-9884 50W X 4 MAX and 18W X 4 RMS The Front Door Speakers are Pioneer TS-G4642R 4 X 6 speakers 130W MAX and 2-20W RMS The Rear Deck Speakers are Kicker 08ks690 Ks-series 6" X 9" Coaxial Speakers with 300W Max and 100w RMS The Amp is a Kenwood KAC-8104D 1000W Mono Amp with 500w RMS The Subs are 2 Kenwood KFC-W3011 with 400W RMS and 1200W Peak power I used Rockford Fosgate 4 Gauge power wire to run from the battery to the amp and a 3 foot 4 gauge ground wire from the amp to the chassis...from the amp to the subs i used 16 gauge rockford fosgate speaker wire and i havent purchased an amp for the speakers yet. I have a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier with the 2200 SFI 2.2 Liter I4 engine The stock alternator is 105 AMP. The problem I have is that when I turn up the volume too loud the stereo just shuts off for about 1-2 seconds and turns back on and it keeps repeating this until i turn the volume down (which I do after the first time) it did this before, but when i installed the new Kicker 6 X 9s the volume will only go about halfway up to about 18 out of 35 before shutting off....I have changed grounds 3 times, completly disconnected the amp power wire from the battery and went through all wires to look for shorts or bad connections....the radio lights start to dim at about 14 volume and if i turn the bass or treble gains up on the HU the dimming is twice as bad and it turns off at even lower volumes...So I was wondering what could be the problem and is there any solution...I am thinking I don't have enough power from the alternator to power the system or the battery is bad....I really need a solution...Money is of no concern...I would just like to listen to my stereo. more

Resolved Question: Upgrading system in my 2003 Ex-Cab sierra 1500. Need suggestions.?

I didn't really want to spend more than 300-350$. I had considered a set of Diamond S600A components because I could get them for 259$ but... I don't have room for an extra 4-channel amp. My current head unit is an Alpine CDE-9846 with the adapter for class II computer communications. As I expected it brought my factory speakers to life but as I knew it would eventually happen I have blown them now. So I had a set of Kenwood coaxial in a 91 Toyota Standard cab i added to the doors since it did not have door speakers and no matter how loud i turn up the stereo they sound good with little to no distortion. I tried looking up what would fit from Crutchfield even though I won't buy there because they are too high. My doors have 6.5" and a small tweeter from the factory so i do not know whether to choose 6 speaker system or 4 speaker system from the Crutchfield selection box. My back doors have 4x5 or 4x6 not sure but they're oval. I have an old Rockford 160.2 that had been bridged mono at 4 ohms to produce 200 watts in my old truck, I built a box to fit under the back seat and had them in there but didn't realize until it was all hooked up that my sister had blown one of the subs. Ok so I had two 8ohm 2001 model Rockford HE subs rated at 450 max 250 rms or something like that, had them wired in parallel to give me a 4 ohm mono load with an amp rated at 4 ohm on the mono wiring. so obviously i need either a 12" 4 ohm speaker or some kind of DVC 12" subs that can wired to give me an ending ohm load of 4 to connect to the amp. My box barely fits the 10" HE from top to bottom and the top of my box is angled and i want to go to a 12" sub so its more than likely going to have to be a shallow mount. I think i wanted another Rockford sub but now im leaning towards a kicker. I want some suggestions of what brand of sub, and what brand of door speakers, my door speakers i want to just use the power of the radio no amps involved. more

I really have no idea where to even begin doing this, so if you know how to or know of a web site where I can get directions that would be great. My car is a '95 hyundia elentra. There is a radio already in the car but there is no face plate for it. The radio that I have to put in it is a kenwood and it says things on it like MDSFET 50Wx4 and KDC-MP228... Resolved Question: how to properly install stereo system into 2001 pontiac bonneville with factory bose system?

My 2001 Bonneville has the factory amplified Bose system. I will be replacing it with a Kenwood head unit, MB Quart speakers all around, being pushed by an Audio Art 340.6XE The car has steering wheel radio controls and the delayed on/off feature when the car is turned off but key is left in ignition. Is this going ot be a difficult install? Is there a way to keep the steering wheel controls active? Will the delayed on/off feature be retained OR, if not, cause me any problems? Thanks more

Even original audio CD's cannot be played. It's really annoying. The burned audio cd's are CD-DA files, just like in original cd's and it won't play. What can be done to make the car cd player to play audio cd's? I sure have burned the audio cd with a CD-DA audio burner. Please help. Thanks. more

Resolved Question: Aftermarket Radio will not work 2001 GMC Yukon XL?

I have a 2001 GMC Yukon XL that I have tried multiple times to put in an aftermarket stereo. I tried the cheap connector that didn't allow OnStar to still work. That failed miserably, the radio would work intermittently, it would power on, you just didn't get any sound from it. I purchased the correct one that Scoshe recommends and tried it, same issue. After talking to Scosche they had no idea, recommended I take it to the dealer. The dealer checked it all over, and they couldn't find an issue. Any idea what might be going on here. Overall issue, radio powers on, reads CD, but no sound comes out most of the time, occasionally radio will work just fine, but may turn off for no reason. And I have tried 6 different head units, Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, Dual, Kenwood and others. more

They have worked fine for a month or so with absolutely no problems what-so-ever, and just this past week when listening to music relatively loud (but still hardly pushing my subs or amp to their potential) the bass will all of a sudden drop out of the music. It is only in the subwoofers because my speakers in the car are still kicking. The amp is only hooked up to the subwoofers, and I have checked all of the connections on all components multiple times and they are all clean, tight, and secure. I cannot find any solutions to my bass randomly going out then a few notes later coming back on, then going out later in the song. It does this with any song on a CD, tuner, or iPod, does not matter what format it is in. more

Resolved Question: Why are my decks not working?

I have two different receivers. One is a Jensen MP5720XM and the other is a VR3-VRCD400/USB/MP3 /CD/SD/WMA/Radio receiver. neither one is a GREAT deck, but both should work. I had the VR3 installed for the last 3 months, and it was running great (2 tweeters, 2 6x9's, 2x12 pioneer subs, 1 Kenwood 1000w amp) up until just recently. The subs would cut out from time to time, but just today the speakers themselves stopped completely. (all. tweeters, 6x9's and subs) so no sound was coming out. the deck was still playing and lit up, so i figured the output to the speakers was busted or something, so i took the deck out and put in the jensen. The jensen worked everytime i hooked it up until now. when everything is installed correctly, the deck does not turn on at all. i'm lost. i don't know what to do, and its not my car so i'm trying to not mess everything up even further. Please tell me whats wrong, if thats possible. Are both my decks fried? more

My freind has a 92 cutlass. I sold him my used Kenwood deck and he's trying to install. I played deck on the last car I owned and it worked fine. i removed myself. It's his first car and I have no idea what he did on the install. He got a wiring harness for the specific vehicle, console kit for the radio to fit. He says unit will not light up or play. What could be wrong here guys? Possibly a blown fuse, i'm assuming he properly connected the ground and positive connection to deck? I'm trying to troubleshoot, because he's too far away and I just got the call now. I cant see for myself. Please tell me he didn't accidently fry out my deck? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. more

Voting Question: Back Two Speakers Stopped Working?

Just the other day, I was riding in my car when I noticed a noise come from the back speakers in my car. I looked back and listened and nothing was coming out of my back speakers. At the same time, the front speakers changed sound. I don't know how to describe it, but they just don't sound like they did before. I have an aftermarket HU (Kenwood KDC-MP332) and decided to check the connections since it was already installed before I bought my car. I got the HU out and was checking the connections and everytime I would wiggle the wires, the front speakers would cut in and out and change pitch. I tried changing the fade all the way to the back speakers. They work but I have to turn the radio all the way up to even get a little bit out of the speakers. It's more of a hum to the music than anything. I talked to a couple people and one of them said that my HU is bad, someone said that i might have a short, and someone said that my amp is bad. I don't know what it could be. I know a little bit about car radios, but I have no idea. Help would be GREATLY appreciated!! more

Resolved Question: Car Audio Problem...?

I have 2 Kenwood 12" subwoofers, in a Ported box. a kenwood sub and sony headunit that is properly setup. I had the amp properly set by a friend of mine who made sure the phase / bass boost was set properly. I noticed when i would drive down the road, my ABS / Power Steering would seem very *sluggish* when the subs were on. if i turned them off, the sluggishness would almost immediately leave. I invested in a 5 Farad Capacitor due to the Recomendation at my local Sixth Ave Electronics store. They explained that the capacitor will store the current, and help lessen the drain on the battery / altenator... the problem is this: I just moved both subs into a smaller ported box, along with installing the 5 Farad Capacitor and now when the subs are on, the engine sounds like it is moaning, and the headlights are taking a hit... this has never happened before!!! isnt' the capacitor supposed to fix this? not cause it? what could the problem be? it seems like the minute I turn the radio back off, i regain full power.. more

For a example a radio that out puts 50 watts peak(20 watts RMS) times 4 channels and the speakers will be 4" by 6" in the front door and 6" by 9" in the back.Or a radio thats puts an amplifier delivers 50 watts peak power(22 watts RMS) times 4 channels. I was thinking going with a Kenwood with model number KDC-138 or a JVC with model number KD-6140. more

Wondering if anyone here uses a ham radio. I just got one and have an Amtron 99 antenna outside and a Kenwood HF radio. I'm not sure if it is working correctly. I can't hear anybody on it. Anyone know why? Is it a hobby worth pursuing? Thanks I do have an amateur license, by the way. more

Hey, i just put a Kenwood KDC-2011S in my truck and for some reason it sounds like it shorts out at higher volumes. it sounds like a cd skipping but its not that because it does that with the radio to, i know its not the wiring because it did the same thing in my other truck that i transfered it from. could it be that i dont have an amp or a good system? please help me its very annoying...thanks a lot more
